Manchester United Preview

Manchester United pitch up at The Emirates since that fateful April evening, no doubted bouyed by the confidence that the victory brought them, irrespective of the ultimate futility of their efforts. If Arsenal need any motivation, the 1 – 3 reverse provides it, particularly the manner of defeat, an abject opening quarter of an hour destroying any plans that may have been laid for the night in question.

Things have changed since. The expected departure of Cristiano Ronaldo unfolded over the summer, to the chagrin of their manager no doubt and Arsenal has improved since then. Does it have any bearing on this afternoon? Motivationally, for Arsenal, absolutely. For events on the pitch? Only so far as the mental attitude of the players is concerned; neither side has learnt anything new about each other since. Both will have spotted weaknesses and strengths which require equal attention.

Injuries are the focal point once more. Nothing new since Wednesday night, which might be something of a record given recent weeks, and everyone expects Sol Campbell to replace Thomas Vermaelen. The Belgian’s injury means he will be fit to face Chelsea but it would be no surprise if he lined-up this afternoon alongside William Gallas.

The only injury news of note other than that is the observation by ‘doctors connected with the Dutch FA‘ that suggest Robin van Persie will be fit for the international friendlies in March. Even if van Persie is vaguely fit, he should not be allowed to play for his country ahead of his club with the flagrant disregard for any injuries shown at international level. There is no benefit for Arsenal in van Persie playing, even 30 minutes so why should they help the Dutch.

Back to the match. Much is being made this season of the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo in the United side and taking out a world-class player – which no matter how much you may despise the player, is exactly what he is – will affect any side. That he has not been replaced is indicative of the financial situation at United.

That United are second shows the mediocrity which pervades the Premier League from 4th place downwards, strengthening the argument that the Premier League, whilst not in decline, is not the all powerful force it claims to be. That is backed up to a certain extent by the fact that a direly average Liverpool team has genuine Champions League pretensions for next season.

The key area this afternoon is going to be midfield. United will look to stifle the quick passing game of Arsenal but the clash at Old Trafford earlier this season, whilst ending in defeat, allowed Arsenal to pass their way through United at times, more frequently than in the past. Where Arsenal must be careful is not allowing the gap between midfield to become unmanned. Alex Song’s return from the ACN, earlier than expected, is a massive boost. His fitness will be the deciding factor as to whether or not Denilson starts.

The Brazilian is this season’s lucky recipient of brickbats, irrespective of the level of his performances. Coming back from a serious back injury was never going to be easy, his collapse against Everton bizarre but he is capable of chipping in with goals from range, contributing more to the side than is generally recognised or credited.

Up front, Nicklas Bendtner is being touted for his first start since last summer. The Dane will be in for a reasonably tough afternoon but his presence will allow Arshavin to drop off United and float along the front line, a role in which he is at his most dangerous even if he is carrying an injury.

I would expect Arsene to go with:

Almunia; Sagna, Gallas, Campbell, Clichy; Fabregas, Song, Nasri; Rosicky, Bendtner, Arshavin

Three points from this and the Liverpool home games will generate a lot of momentum in this tricky spell of fixtures. Chelsea’s win yesterday may make United more cautious, careful not to lose for defeat for either side puts them under pressure. Arsenal has already proven this season that retrieving a points deficit is not hard such is the inconsistency affecting all of the top sides. One of them is going to put a long unbeaten run together, a win today will cement the recent League form of Arsenal into a strong foundation of such a run, ready for the final push.

Enjoy the match wherever you are watching it. ’til Tomorrow.

  1. First Comment? Yay!

Should win today. At OT we showed them we are clearly better than them and we should win here but no way it’s going to be easy. United will try every trick in the book to stop us but our newfound mental strength and belief should see us through.

  2. Your point about th mediocrity of the league, is well taken Yogi. However, the mancs are still there despite their own lack of class. That has surprised me. They are not to be underestimated. They have a lot of fight at least.

I suppose our own position is down to injuries then, rather than any mediocrity on our part? We have the best team I am sure. We need to show that today.

  3. YOGI the team you project will probably win the game

  4. COME ON ARSENAL!!!

  5. As long as the fans get behind the team today there is a great chance to put those amerimancs in their place i.e. behind us! Ar-Se-Nal!

  6. One of those games when the ref could be the difference. If he allows half the United team to commit 1 or 2 “strong British” tackles before booking them, then we could be in for a long afternoon. Normally in such games it’s one of our boys that ends up getting booked first out of frustration.

A set of cojones though and you’d hope he get’s on Fletcher’s case early on, with a yellow to his name he’s half as effective for them. Hopefully being at the Grove will sway things our way in that respect.

Think we’ll win this one but as long as we don’t lose it I’ll be ok. I reckon the Chavs will win it this year, just want to automatically qualify for the Champs Lge for a change.

  7. payback is a bi#ch

    its payback time now

    f#ck them inches

  8. Come on you Gunners! Let’s stuff them, and especially Evra!!

  9. That line-up shud cos win d game but i see wenger being cautious and starting both denilson and Song. The game is going to be tough and as long as Roney is kept quiet we shud win this one. With chelsea win yesterday a draw won’t be a gud result. At the grove we must show we can beat any team. The title is still the target not champions league qualifications.

  10. I said after the OT game earlier this season we would finish above United in the league. They are a team in decline, and only Rooney’s form has kept them up there so far.

Rooney’s record against us isn’t all that good though, unless you include diving for penalties.

Quick, intelligent passing football will win the day. I second Yogi’s selection assuming Vermy isn’t quite fit. Nasri, Rosicky, Arshavin and Cesc gives us so much creativity, I hope they can tee up a hat trick of tap ins for Bendtner. Then this whole team will be flying ahead of playing Chelsea and Liverpool next.

    COYG!

  11. Granddad Federer has given the Scotch Pretender a tennis lesson. I’ll take that as a good omen.

  12. Great news Poliziano, I was just wondering about the score.

  13. i will take it as 3-0 to arsenal with third from a dodgy penalty

  14. It’s an absolutely crucial match – for ManU.

For a team on the way down, losing a key match like this can edge them perilously near to the precipice. If they win, they get a brief respite.

For us, it’s simply a marker of the rate of progress. Losing it would be painful, but only marginally impede our inexorable advance. Win it and we leapfrog ahead.

I know which camp I’d rather be in!

  15. Controls all water and ice can also split and fuse hydrogen.

  16. United aren’t a team on the way down. They are yearly contenders. I don’t know why people keep writing them off. They are a dangerous dangerous team…

…But so are we. We aren’t a high-octane offense, we are the HIGHEST-octane offense. Scored more goals than Barcelona this season. Their defense should be more worried about our offense than vice versa.

This could be a high scoring affair. 3-2 to Arsenal IMO

  17. It would be good to prove the critics wrong and stuff the Mancs once and for all and put the skids on their title run for once. After all we havent lost a Premiership game to them at the Emirates yet.
    .
The focus in the media has been on Rooney and how Campbell will cope with the in form Rooney. God only knows how Leeds, Fulham and Burnley stopped him scoring? I think the Mancs will come out to kill our passing game packing the midfield with biting tackles and going for their trade mark counter attacks.

They say United is not a one man team but Unlike Arsenal I think United would miss Rooney more than we would miss RVP. As much as I hate him and the Mancs you cannot fault his selfishness, commitment and never say die attitude. That said Arsenal to win 3-1. Wayne rooney to score first. Bendtner to equalise. Then goal line clearances and jangling nerves until Cesc scores in the 79th and an Arshavin rocket in 88th seals it. Remember were you heard it first. COYG !!!

  18. I fully expect TV5 to line up alongside WG10 at the heart of our defence this afternoon.

There is no schedule late fintess test, therefore he must have been ruled ok.. unless there is a very last minute hiccup ( maybe during the pre-match warm up )

With GC3 having had a couple of games under his belt since coming back from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.. the back 5 should have a familiar ring to it.

The key men today are Alex Song and Nikki B.

The strength and height they bring to the spine of the team is immense.

NB’s touch was nowhere near as bad as some made out when he came on against the Villa.

His shooting boots need not be on today, he simply needs to focus on bullying the fuck out of the weak evans, in order space and time is created for Fab4 and the rest of the light brigade making the charge from midfield.

I would prefer to see Nasri on the bench, he is fantastic impact sub, always comes on and runs at tiring defenders and opens up space for others. Young theo can learn a lot from him in that respect.

My midfield trio preference would be Song, Fab4 and Ramsey.. however, i am convinced Ramsey will be replaced by Denilson.

He is certainly a better CM than a DM imvho… so there is hope he can make things happen in the engine room.

Great time to be playing the mancs, they had a massive high, a massive amount of energy expenditure on weds night… they can only be on a comedown since then.. that is the first proper local manc derby fergie’s manure have EVER played.

Therefore they will not be experienced in dealing with the emotional and physical comedown.

This is not typical gooner rose tinted chat.. but if TV5 and NB52 are in this starting line up come 4pm…

I expect manure to get a lesson.

    3-1 is my prediction.

  19. Not writing them off, Harsh. Just reading their balance sheet.

They’re still a very good team – at the moment.

That’s why we shouldn’t get too distressed if our class doesn’t win the day today.

  20. David Villa – the boss was listening.

I hope we play the team you suggest Yogi, but I can’t see why the 4th placed team escape the charge of flagrant mediocrity. There is a clear top , after today we will be clear of manure and only have the chavs to worry about.

  21. Kitchen sink that video is great, Denilson is so important to us. Hes talented and incredibly confident and as is constantly reiterated, confidence is everything in football.

Hes one of the few members of our squad that regularly has a pop from long range aswell. Who knows, if he scores one of them today people might actualy have to stop undervaluing him.

Come on ARSENAL. Lets score first today. Rosicky is due a goal when we arnet behind!

  22. I am really looking forward to seing what Bendtner can add to the attack…If he can dominate the two CB’s, I se Arshavin and Rosicky terrorizing United today…Come On Arsenal!

  23. Passenal you surprise me. I expect pz, Duke and I to wish the Scot ill fortune in his games but you? What happenned to the nice woman we all know and love?

3-1 today. Having said that, it’s usually the score I predict for every match.

  24. That should have read “top 3”.

Did I get the news correctly? John Terry had an affair with Bridge’s wife? The mother of his child. Birdge is also supposedly Terry’s best mate. Terry has now started a wife swapping club at CSKA, after previously knobbing Ashley Cole?

A real class act all around. They will not win the league.

  25. Thank you for the video, Kitchen Sink. Watching Denilson play is always a pleasure. I realise that his classical elegance will never be appreciated by those who love only what is brash and tacky – the footballing equivalent of bling. Instead of making the easy look difficult, he makes the difficult look easy, displaying perfect control with every surface, perfect accuracy, and perfect timing.

  26. Too much getting made of US worrying about Rooney – WE should be making their makeshift back 4 do all the running and worrying.

Come on Arsenal – time to shut up the SKY Man Utd Supporters Club once and for all.

Btw – which incompetent official do we have today?

  27. “Passenal you surprise me. I expect pz, Duke and I to wish the Scot ill fortune in his games but you? What happenned to the nice woman we all know and love?”

You’re reading me wrong Cbob, I’m just a Federer fan. I think he’s a fantastic tennis player and wanted him to win, that’s all!

  28. Just watching the City/Pompey game, i’ve never heard such a quiet crowd reaction to goals being scored. Kompany basically got a golf clap for his.

  29. Also look at the team we’ve got for today. You wouldn’t look at a single position there and consider anyone a weak link for Utd to target. Clichy and Song are going to add real solidity and I fully expect us to get a run of clean sheets going, regardless of our (admittedly sometimes reckless) attacking nature.

  30. Of course, Passenal. I should have thought of that…

  31. You see, Consolsbob, sport isn’t just about hatred. Love can creep into it as well.

  32. That did surprise me Pz. That it should some to that.

  33. @ Passenal
“I’m just a Federer fan. I think he’s a fantastic tennis player and wanted him to win, that’s all!”

Me, too! He is my all-time favourite. And he’s the consummate professional and a gentleman as well.

  34. na federers a brat

    hes ace though

  35. A brat? Wash your mouth out, deano.

  36. the good news is.. the manure payroll can no longer afford to have howard webb on the books any longer.

the bad news is c foy officiates the game today and he is graham poll mk2.

loves the publicity of being the big man handing out red cards.

  37. This will be a hotly fought contest. Take Rooney out of the game. Force Man U to rely on Nani and Berbatov to score. Sol Campbell and his mates will shut down Rooney. Arsenal will win 3-1. Fabregas and Nasri and Ramsey will play lights out. Song may get into the act as well. How is Eduardo’s injury. Gunners nation will celebrate with a win. Thanks http://bobbygee.wordpress.com/

  38. Harsh I think all we want is parity, objectivity and to be given the credit we deserve and be considered a threat to the top 2.We are always being underwritten and any good results being attributed to cheating, bad refereeing, other teams being in decline or being lucky. Obviously its only Chelsea and Man U that put in any credible performances.

Poor JT. The darling of the English media probably doesn’t want to see another newspaper again.

    1 hour to go. COYG!!!!!! 3 – 1.

  39. Almunia
    Sagna – Gallas – Vermaelen – Clichy
    Fabregas – Song – Denilson
    Rosicky – Bendtner – Arshavin

    Side to start I understand

  40. im sorry pol, if anyone deserves his brattiness its federer. How can someone who looks so much like jimmy carr be that good at tennis?

So glad denilson got a start.

  41. great starting line up, lovely.

  42. denilson and fab are better players when song has their backs.

  43. Correction! Nasri for Bendtner

  44. DAM

super sub time for nikki b

  45. Vidic not fit.

  46. SomeRandomGunner

Bendtner in bench “nasri – arshavin-rosicky”

  47. The reports yesterday said that the Terry-Perroncel affair was water under the bridge (as it were). That’s not what Mrs. Terry says. She didn’t learn the truth until the gagging order was lifted.

  48. park and giggs won’t worry clichy and sagna

utd would love a 0-0 today

we so need the first goal

  49. nani and valencia were the ones who could.

  50. Campbell not even on the bench. I hope he isn’t injured, and I hope Silvestre is fully fit after that nasty knock last week.

  51. Thomas Vermaelen is a man of iron.

  52. 😆 arshavin looks right up for this one

  53. strutting around the emirates like danny dyer on acid.

  54. ” O, that my example
Might teach the world hereafter what a curse
Hangs on their heads who rather choose to marry
A goodly portion than a dower of virtues!”

  55. Giggs not playing.

  56. Come on Arsenal!

  57. Van Nistelrooy also not playing!

  58. well fellas good luck.

If we win this I feel there will be no stopping us.

Im nervous but we cant hide from the importance of this game.

We need to win and i believe we will.

  59. COYGZZZZZZZZZZ

  60. Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal!!!!!!!!

    Come on, Arsenal!!!!!!!

  61. Finally come on to sleep after a another crazy weekend but the hope of beeaing the dirty Mancs is forcing these eyes open.

    ARRRRRRRRSSSSSSSEEEEEENNNNAAAAALLLLLLL

  62. Pz,
Glad you enjoyed that game, hope you enjoy the game about to start,

The air around the WengerBowl is full of the succulent smell of frying onions, (not patsies this season I’m afraid), it’s a still day in N.London, the atmosphere a little tense, people dressed in huge scarves walking around in red & white, Newbies coming to the ‘big game’ at the Emirates struggling to find parking, a great atmosphere. Whatever the minor quibbles with the stadium, I’m glad Arsenal stayed in N.London on days like this.

    COYG!

  63. COME ON YOU GUNNERS, FROM THE OFF!!

  64. Nasir Jones-Nasri

    Let’s embarrass these Manc c*nts.

  65. SomeRandomGunner

    Arshavin sucks …………….

  66. Nasir Jones-Nasri

Greedy Arshavin needs to square that.

  67. Is Clichy not 100% yet?

  68. Clichy simply outsped. Nani’s speed was astonishing.

  69. Indeed, shotta.

  70. Nani is FASSSSSSSSSSSSST!!!!!!!

  71. Arshavin – good attack of Wes Brown. Are we going to see something more respectful from Random Gunner?

  72. Nani’s such a t*sser!

  73. clichydoubledeuce

    we’ve only got one song!!!

  74. SomeRandomGunner

Arshavin – good attack of Wes Brown. Are we going to see something more respectful from Random Gunner?
We would be 2-0 but for selfish stupid arshavin

  75. The fans are making themselves heard today.

  76. OOU – The replay was more conclusive. It was 50-50 and it was a foul. Card? I have seen them given and allowed.

  77. My body is shaking I am so tried.

COME ON ARSENAL. COME ON ARSENAL. COME ON ARSENAL.

  78. SRR – At least he is trying to play like a Centre Forward. Jeez – we can never please some fans.

  79. F*cking ref needs to book Evra. His foul on Cesc was much worse than Songs on Nani. What a c*nt.

  80. No Patsies, Finsbury?

Surely that’s manu’s role in this.

  81. SomeRandomGunner

For the record i am not the one who moans after every game , i have never complained abt any player other than arshavin. He is the most selfish player in the team he is surely a liability. We can accept mediocrity not selfishness in a team game.

  82. Sounds like our defenders are doing really well. Is that the case?

  83. They are FG, both CB’s making some vital interceptions.

  84. SRR – But you are moaning at the guy for playing like a forward. Get a grip man.

  85. SomeRandomGunner

SRR – But you are moaning at the guy for playing like a forward. Get a grip man.

Unfamiliar position == should never Pass try to get the glory ??????

  86. Phew. And it sounds like our Duracell bunny is back, too!

  87. FUUUCKKK!

  88. I am no Arshavin sycophant but so far he is working his butt off.

  89. Nani destroyed our left side in that move. Clichy and Nasri were left for dead.

  90. Come on Arsenal!

  91. COYG

  92. the goal was expected…United are a threat coming forward, no questions about that.

I’m more dissapointed in the way we’re so incredibly wasteful in front of United’s net. So wasteful.

  93. Damn damn damn.

  94. FUUUUUUCCKKK!!!

  95. hmmm…is the team going to step up ?

  96. I had the thought at 30 minutes that one team was going to score twice before half time.

  97. We have to be taking our chances man.

    Come on Arsenal!

  98. SomeRandomGunner

Hmm it is all over ……. unless by some magic

  99. WOW! Beaten at our own game.

  100. Arshavin must put one of these in.

  101. Clichy definitely not 100%.

    We went to sleep!

We’ve had chances, AA could have played in Nasri on three occasions earlier, but it’s going to be hard work now.

  102. A very ad miss. That is the easiest of the chances.

  103. Sounds crazy, but I still have a good feeling about this one.

  104. OMG

    WFT IS THIS SHIT???

THAT PINK SHREK SCORING AT THE EMIRATES

    AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHH

    SHOULD BE 2-0 TO US

  105. Song needed to bring that one away from the goal.

  106. OOU. Its a very open game which suits us but it will be hard

  107. They are missing BOTH Rio and Vidic we MUST score!!!!!!

  108. I feel sick.

  109. We are doubling and tripling up on Nani

  110. SomeRandomGunner

    We will win against chelsea

  111. If they can scope 2 in the first half we can scope 10 in the second.

    Come on you gunners

  112. wow we are getting fucked

    wtf is going on??

  113. * that was supposed to read score not scope *

  114. Nani’s causing huge problem…

and for that 10 goal comments – its just stupid. we’d be incredibly lucky if we can pull 2 back. We’ve had more chances, controlled play for longer stretches but we can’t finish…again and again and again and again..

  115. For once I agree with Robbie Earle; we haven’t tested the keeper enough.

  116. Denilson wasn’t in the game at all…. he wasn’t covering for Clichy, nor was he contributing anything towards the game with interceptions nor good passes. He wasn’t tall enough to make a difference in the air either. He needs to be replaced or this game is over.

  117. Not over yet, but we need to start taking our chances soonish.

    Come on Arsenal!

  118. So painful. The boys really need an early second half goal. How good would 3-2 be now?

  119. stupid typo

  120. This Nani performance reminds me of the one where they beat us 4-0 and he gave Armand a horrid time.

  121. Typical Arsenal, losing at home to Man Utd!

I’ve always said we are behind Man Utd and Chelsea in the league.

We need to buy players!! FFS! Why doesn’t Wenger realise this??

  122. It’s Chelsea all over again, lots oh huff n’ puff and getting nowhere fast!

This is going to have to be AW’s finest ever half time team talk!

  123. I am astonished that our eleven is 2-0 down to their eleven. They deserve to be, it’s just that I thought our team looked so very much better than theirs.

I think we do have the better players. Utd just seem to want it more.

Back to Yogi’s post. In a mediocre league, this arsenal side should be running riot.

  124. ot testing the keeper: That is why the b.s. about Arshavin’s two early shooting attempts just irked me.

  125. Can any of the Denilson apologists please tell me what he offered in that half of association football?

Aside from some the most superb, well placed, accurate 3 yard passes ever seen at the emirates, of course.

He is too weak to protect the back 4, too slow to add to the attack… so what does he offer?

Fuck do we miss the power and drive of Diaby.

  126. Now this hurts. It was one of our better performances this season but we are still trailing by 2..

  127. We don’t have a single shot on target…. I don’t see how we can pull this back in the 2nd half

  128. Fuck off Gooner 1. Show some guts. You want it easy? Play Champ. Manager.

  129. It’s blatantly been psychological so far. Player for player we are better than ManU. A good team talk could set things straight.

  130. Agree with you on Denilson, Stringfellow Hawke. He just wasn’t up for it this season.

Wenger should swap Ramsey or Bendtner in the 2nd half for Denilson or this game is over.

  131. He should have started Nik B.

This game is all about damage limitation now, this is not another Bolton we are 2-0 down to.

I am Wenger’s biggest fan, hence the blog i dedicate to his brilliance.. but he got this wrong, the first goal counts in these big games.

If Nik B is fit enough for the bench, he is fit enough to start.. and he should have.

  132. We simply need an early goal to make this a match. We can do it! COYG!

  133. Come on Arsene grab them buy the ………. make them desperate.

WE NEED TO START PRESSURING THE BALL!!!!

  134. As lonf as there is time on the clock we are still in it. We have created the chances jus havent put them away. Okay 4 – 2 to Arsenal COYG. 4 from Arshavin.

  135. How can we not have a single shot on target against their 2nd string centerbacks???

  136. Denilson definitely at fault for the second goal/. He obviously has a brain the size of a peanut.. Rooney came from 10 yards behind him and Denilson just jogged along with that gormless mongy smile on his face.. by the time he realized that Rooney was in the vicinity, the ball was already in the back of the net. We had 6 men back and should have dealt with it easily.
Arshavin for all his industry is a little owl faced cunt. He should have found Cesc/Nasri on at least 2 occasions and the game would have been wrapped up. Pure schoolboy errors and this will dent our confidence massively.
    Unless…

  137. Yup Ramsey has to come on for Denilson.

  138. uh..
we need to have a shot on target. we HAVE been pressuring the ball. our problem is that we’re creating and getting clear chances but cant shoot properly?
also, expect the 2nd half to be different. i doubt it’ll be as open as this half has been for us.

  139. this is amazingly shite. ACLFers are quite now, no?

  140. clichydoubledeuce

    @ sg 4:54

    i concur

COME ON ARSENAL COME ON ARSENAL COME ON ARSENAL!

  141. GF surprised me with a cup of tea and a slice of pie, so I’m feeling pretty philosophical.

    Come on Arsenal!

  142. Utd are a different animal, they will carry on trying to score more goals, they want to embarass us.

This is a fucked up situation unless we get a goal before 70 is on the clock.. and hope they dont add to the 2 good goals they have.

To be fair, the second they scored on the break was fucking awesome football.

    Is nani on drugs?

  143. clichydoubledeuce

    F*CK OFF KE

    loud enough for ya??

  144. Aaaargh come on Arsenal!!!!!

  145. Stringfellow – You are simply over-reacting. Denilson is helping in the space in the left open by our midfield when we attack. Note that Carrick and Fletcher simply float in the gaps to help Nanai. If it wasn’t for Denilson, Clichy would be more exposed. Note that Nasri and Arshavin have only started helping after seeing the roasting Nani is giving Clichy.
I thought you watched the game instead of reacting. Our problem is in ManU’s final third.

  146. So we don’t need strikers huh?

  147. Lets get the breaks 2nd half, never say never.

  148. @ clichydoubledeuce

    your thoughts on the match?

while grovers can take it too far the other direction, aclfers need to wake up to reality.

  149. Can’t help but to think this is why Man Utd has been doing better than us in the past few years.

Just look at that clinical finishing of the 2nd goal.

  150. Well, looks like the next weeks blogging debates are set regardless of what happens in the next 45 minutes.

Song’s a little short of fitness too, like Clichy and Denilson, it’s so obvious. Fab was asking him to press further forward. Too many poor decisions with the final pass today, AA in oarticular. If Ramsey comes on & plays like he did against Villa, I’ll be scared.

  151. Their 2nd goal reminds me of the times when Henry, Ljunberg and Pires combined the counter attacking football to devastating effects.

We don’t see that around here anymore.

  152. Well, not that many poor passes, just AA really, he’s worked hard, been unlucky, and possibly been a little selfish with the final ball. But he is a striker.

  153. shotta-gunn – every time they attack its down our left, denilson is 5 yards behind nani trying to catch up.

look, i am the biggest AKB in the world, believe me.. but sometimes you need to be honest and stop tryin to protect your position.

denilson is not good enough for this side, wenger has him wrong.

he offers nothing, check the first goal… he made denilson look a fool on the edge of the box.

  154. Er, AA against Bolton gackt13?

There’s that lobotomised amoeba syndrome again.

  155. What’s your reality Ke?

Never read anything that you’ve posted before that might give us a clue?

  156. “aclfers need to wake up to reality.”

Meaning what, Ke? That we should give up supporting and believing now that the team are behind?

  157. clichydoubledeuce

ke, there’s still 45 minutes of football left. i have faith in the team. come back after the match and we’ll talk.

even if we don’t get a result today i don’t feel it well end our title run.

now please go moan somewhere else.

  158. We should’ve been 3 down if it wasn’t for Nani who missed an open goal. Also we could’ve been 2 nil up in the first 20 if it wasn’t for an inaccurate finishing from Arshavin. That’s the way it goes. they haven’t outplayed us but it’s about converting your chances. The mistake we made we went gun ho after the first goal, we had to stay calm and be patient instead we opened up a huge space at the back, that is criminal specially against united, Haven’t we learned fro the CL last season?

  159. AW is sticking with his team. More than can be said for many of us.

  160. On the plus side… how good is Fab when he runs with the ball now.

The lad is going to be better than Platini by the time he has finished.

  161. Cr*p.

  162. Great football utd.

    Lets keep this going, shotta-gunna.

  163. “AW is sticking with his team. More than can be said for many of us.”

what are you talking about? Are we being emo now?

  164. OMFG did you guys see what Denilson is doing to the team?!!?! He’s destroying us single-handedly!

  165. This is too much. Have a good week guys!

  166. this is awful now.

  167. 3-0. fuck. why is it so much easier to doom…

  168. clichydoubledeuce

    that was awful

  169. guys, shotta-gunna watches the game, we only react.

denilson is the next great, just watch, who cares if he has had a hand in all 3 goals.

  170. I’ve read this blog tons of times. Im a huge wenger supporter, hate slagging off the team. BUT Denilson gets WAY TOO MUCH CREDIT. Had a hand in every manU goal. That’s a clear fact.

  171. where was our defence on that one?

  172. switched off my stream now…no need to suffer anymore 😦

  173. Denilson is shit, he’s bloody f**ing shit.

  174. a piece of cake this is . What a shambles

  175. i cant watch this anymore i feel sick

  176. kobst, you cannot be watching the game… according to shotta gunna.

    you are purely reacting… apparently.

  177. The ATVO guy is doing my head in by letting his voice rise on our goal attempts so I think we’ve scored.

  178. StringFellow – I have battled with your type for years. Today, tomorrow is no different. I may lose today’s battle but not the war.

  179. Have your laugh Stringfellow.

  180. We need to change things. At this rate it’s more likely to be 4 than 1-3.

  181. shotta-gunna you have never battled me before.

i have battled with YOUR type before, certainly not for days or for war…

it usually takes minutes until submission and embarrasing defeat.

if you are that blind you cannot see denilson has been the weak link today… you must be on crack.

  182. Denilson needs to GO. He isn’t contributing anything AT ALL.

  183. Didnt expect this but its not the end of the world, we did the double over united a few years ago and didnt win a thing.

  184. This is embarrasing, there taking the piss now. Denilson is woefull

  185. Calm down people, we are ALL reacting.. only shotta gunna is watching.

  186. Didn’t expect Walcott

  187. WTF?

why has wenger taken our best player off?

    shotta? this just won’t do

  188. wenger has not been watching, he is another that just reacts

right on shotta, you da man

    power to the people.

  189. This is another one where 3-0 is harsh on us. Not that they don’t deserve their three; we left gaps on the counter, which against this Man U team, you might as well shoot yourself if you do that. We haven’t taken our chances, Song just missed again, but it’s not like they’ve been peppering our goal for the whole match. Just two lightning counters that we did poorly against.

  190. clichydoubledeuce

SH, denilson was having a poor game, and he was substituted. calm down man, we’re all on the same side

  191. We’re saved now here comes Walcott!!!!

  192. Denilson has a bad game doesnt make him a bad player, however on the third goal, no one was home but Almunia!

  193. clichy, you missed the irony.

go back and read the posts from earlier.

  194. Thank god wenger has taken him off. I just hope Walcott pulls his finger out, its been too long since his hat-trick for england – he needs to do something else now, we need a goal and then weve got a chance

  195. The scapegoating starts before the game ends. Denilson is responsible for all three goals. Game, set and match.

  196. Our finishing is not clinical today, oh how I miss RVP!

  197. calm down and watch the game, shotta

the time to react is after the game.

  198. The African nations final is so bad, its like watching a league 2 match

  199. I love that none of our team have played particularly well but the reaction is still DENILSON IS A WITCH AND WE MUST BURN HIM. Boring. It’s only January. It’s only one game. Some ‘fans’ are so fickle.

  200. How the fu*k can man utd do the double over us. This is fukin sickning. this is sad.

  201. No need for scapegoats but the team as a whole has been below par so far – or at least below MU’s

  202. clichydoubledeuce, shotta gunna,

the truth of the matter is that denilson is truly a poor, poor player. by pre-empting your statement in a prepository manner still doesn’t change the fact that he does, indeed suck.

  203. There missing Ferdiand and that idiot Vidic and we still cant break them down, what the hell has happened to us

  204. clichydoubledeuce

how is that not a card for scholes?

  205. i am truly astounded how such a poor utd team have played so well.

    total credit where its due.

  206. This is what fucks me off the most. Song is booked in a 50-50 challenge. Scholes hacks down Arshavin and its only a free kick.

I’m beginning to wonder if ManU’s debt is down to the Yanks or the backhanders they must be giving to ref’s.

  207. Romny, we have broken them down but our finishing has been poor!

  208. we have been bad, but utd wont play this well again all season.

  209. I really can’t see where this team can go from here!

Were flat track bullies that can destroy teams like Bolton, Pompey and Blackburn etc…. but when were up against a top team such as Utd and Chelsea and even to a lesser extent decent sides like Man City then we are found wanting!

AW says were a different animal to the side that lost to Chelsea – er …….no were not Arsene were exactly the same little pushovers!

We have no genuine threat whatsoever!

  210. Jesus ManU are playing the geriatric card.

  211. Stringfellow – You should learn to take your own advice. Scapegoater.

  212. “Boring. It’s only January. It’s only one game. Some ‘fans’ are so fickle.”

You are clearly one of those people who’ll be bleating the same thing over and over again when we’re in February, March and April.

Title = done for. fact. maybe we can still give it a fight but given this performance we’re not champions.

  213. sticks and stone, martin.

did you learn nowt from the great man?

  214. clichydoubledeuce

    ke

i did not defend denilson. he was having a poor game and was rightly substituted.

that being said, AKB. end of.

  215. LOL…POOR LE ARSE FAN…..YOU CLUB IS LOSING BY A MARGIN OF THREE GOALS IN YOUR OWN STADIUM…SAD LITTLE CLUB LIVING ON LONG FORGOTTEN HISTORY.

AND YOU GUYS WERE TALKING ABOUT WINNING THE TITLE…LOL.LONG LIVE WENGUS.

I STILL PREFER THE WAY WE DESTROYED YOU GUYS IN YOUR STADIUM THOUGH….LOL.DROGBA IS COMING AFTER YOU GUYS,NEXT WEEK

  216. Our midfield has made it too easy for them, they are pissing on us all over the park, i feel physically sick, not looking forward to work tomorrow. Walcot needs to be sold he is actually getting worse

  217. Remi, remember when we beat all the big clubs and didnt win anything? All this is is about bragging rights, pride. Its still only 1 match.

  218. Piss fukin poor.

  219. Remi – We are playing without out best striker and have been for months, we’ve also been missing Bendtner, the only real repalcement we have.

How would ManU cope with Rooney missing 3/4’s of the season?

  220. man, rooney is next level!!

  221. manu deserve to win this. We have been poor. But all you whingers and Arsenal player haters are just wrong.

You make me feel sicker than the score.

We will come again but you where will you be?

  222. abid, how is the title done for?

    thats silly

  223. ROONEY ALMOST SCORED TO MAKE IT FOUR GOALS WITH EBUOE-GUS ROLLING ON THE FLOOR….LOL.

  224. clichydoubledeuce

    consolbob, paul n, vince, marc

    thank you for keeping perspective

  225. we have a week to prepare for chelski

diaby and bendy need to be fit and start… we will certainly have a big chance.

  226. Shoudn’t you be shagging your friends wife Dave rather than watching Arsenal?

  227. Paul N, this was a six-pointer and weve frozen like the semi final last year, man utd seem to intemidate our players for some reason, i hate them so much

  228. clueless.

  229. Dave – Don’t you have a ManU site to read or do your parents limit what sites you can read?

  230. Paul, we have to admit the team has not excelled in games against big teams so far and not only once: MU (twice), Chelsea, City….only Liverpool but they are very mediocre this year

  231. IT SEEMS THE CLICHE SHOULD EVOLVED TO BECOME THE TOP 2 INSTEAD OF TOP 4…….TOP 2 CLUBS IN ENGLAND,CHELSEA AND STUPID MANURE..AND OTHERS

  232. The worry is we do seem to get a spanking by the other big teams to fukin often.

  233. YESSS!!

  234. clichydoubledeuce

    dave

i would hate to know you in real life.

  235. Come on!!

  236. Believe!

  237. Dave that makes no sense at all.

Tokala Man City are not a top team.

What odds on 2 more in 10 minutes?

  238. Pual / Marc

I know its only one game etc….and were without our best striker!

But it just seems so easy for these teams, they all have our number…..

PS: Oh and Dave f*ck off, we may be getting beat today, but i would rather watch us getting dicked than support your misreable bunch of no marks!

  239. Sorry Paul (not pual)

  240. Goal – 1st shot on target I think.

  241. If I wanted to support a team based on supporters it would not be Arsenal.

Some of you make my stomach turn. We lost, and? it happens, it hurts but it doesnt end anything.

Man U lost to Fulham, Chelsea to Burnley.

Be dissapointed but get behind the team and stop your idiotic, excessive, out of proportian, over the top moaning!

    Repulsive!

  242. STRINGFELLOW,NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU PREPARE…WE COMING AT YOU WITH ANGER…COS YOU OWE US 3 POINTS AT THE BRIDGE…LOL.

I’LL RATHER SHAG MY FRIEND’S WIFE THAN LOSE BY THREE GOALS TO MANURE.JOHN TERRY IS A FOOTBALLER AND NOT THE POPE….LOL

  243. Handball!!

  244. And you Dave are a Cunt.

  245. Remi, we were unfortunate at OT, do you remember?

  246. Close shave in the box.

  247. U GUYS SURE DO HAVE SOME LUCK…SUCH A LUCKY GOAL BY VERMINATUS…THE OWN GOAL HERO.

I BET HE WORRIED ABOUT DROGBA EVEN WHILE PLAYING AGAINST STUPID MANURE

  248. I’m quite suprised you have any friends Dave?

  249. Sigh, Manuel.

  250. Off the line!

  251. Almunia, what the hell is going on?

  252. almunia looks a broken man.

  253. “abid, how is the title done for?”

I’m saying that based on performance not games in hand…

there’s two teams on the pitch out there who had the exact same chance of keeping up the pressure on Chelsea. One team took the game and ran away with it.

I’m not saying that its even the teams fault. We need a proper strike force. Look at this game – we’ve created a ton of chances. that’s what a midfield does, they need some support up front and we don’t have that. In defence, we have Almunia in net. So, seriously, I’ll enjoy our season on a game by game basis and not hold my breath for the title.

If you’re more optimistic good for you.

  254. I don’t mind Almunia, but stuff like that certainly doesn’t help his case.

  255. I think if a fan isnt hurting by this result there is something wrong with them. this fukin hurts. this is boll*cks getting done 3-1 in our own yard by a shite geriatric manc team.

  256. THE EMIRATES IA ALREADY EMPTY…GLORY HUNTING FANS,YOU LOT

  257. Paul N, C/bob – A game like this and you get to know who are true friends and supporters of Arsenal FC. The scapegoaters truly exposed themselves today.

  258. Has anyone even been watching the last ten minutes?! We’ve been so close!

This is the kind of stuff that bodes well for next week. Pride! Anger!

  259. a game like this truly highlights the apologists who like to think being a fan is all about apologising and not acknowledging the obvious.

    Blindsiders.

  260. SH, oh do fuck off.

  261. You show yourself to be the perfect chav chelsea fan, Dave. It must be great to live in your skin.

    Thanks for the distraction though.

  262. DG, who says it doesnt hurt, but do you jump all over the team?

Abid, its obvious your are negative.I can bet that you speak doom and gloom with every loss.

  263. EVEN JI SUNG PARK DRIBBLED THREE AND SCORED AGAINST YOU GUYS TODAY…..AND NANI,THE USELESS RONALDO WANNA-BE JUST DID A RONALDO ON YOU GUYS….LOL.SAD….SAD….SAD CLUB

  264. We were done over. Well done United. Frustrated, disappointed but not the end of the world. COYG.

  265. GOD,YOUR STADIUM IS EMPTY…ALL I CAN IS RED PLASTIC CHAIRS..LOL

  266. I’m afriad that i agree with Big Al, SH. No one likes a smart alec.

    We are ALL hurting.

Spot on shotta. Lots of new posters recently now showing their colours. Yellow and yellow.

  267. Stringfellow, you are a weak supporter, nothing more nothing less.

You are not seeing anything more than anyone else.

  268. FABREGAS IS ALMOST CRYING…..POOR DUDE.HE WILL MOVE TO BARCELONA NEXT SEASON…LOL

  269. Is it time to drop Arshavin?

Denilson did not cover himself in glory again.

    At least we fought.

We’re still in this. Bring on Chelsea.

  270. You’re “afraid”, CB?!

A reasonable person can only tolerate so much!

  271. shotta gunner.

not the end of the world but certainly the end of the season.

Yeah, i am a “doomer”. Stop giving condescending labels to people who aren’t as deluded as you guys.

  272. So painful but it’s not over until it’s mathematically impossible.

  273. Gutted!

  274. WTF is up with you fucking wankers?

Being a fan is about being honest, not sucking each others cock.. you lot are simple… that is the problem.

You go on Le Groan and its doom and gloom ALL the fucking time.. that wrong!

You come on here, watch us get anally raped by a shit utd side.. and its all back slapping, never mind lads, we were unlucky.

Read my blog you simple simons, i am wengers biggest fan.. and remain so!

That does not preclude me to have an honest opinion.

    You lot all spotty teenagers?

  275. Wow

Something needs to change in this team. Either players need to find form, or come back from injury, or a youth team player needs to step up, or we need to buy someone, but wow. After half an hour, that was no longer a contest. The entire team is at fault, not just one player.

    Wow.

  276. Game over, big deal. The utd fans’ll be going on about this long after we’ve forgotten about it. Chelsea to worry about now, hopefully Nic’ll be ready to start. Theo looked slightly better today, his final ball’s still lacking though especially with his left foot.

  277. Yes, bring on Chelsea. We’re a wounded animal at the moment. With Diaby on board, and a bit more recovery time for a players back from injury, I think we’ll do them.

  278. SG your comments are so incredibly insulting and offensive.

How dare you start pointing out which people are fans or not? what’s given you that right? just because you have some deluded opinion about the team doesn’t mean that anyone who doesn’t prescribe to it is wrong.

I’d seriously worry about any Arsenal fan not hurting from this game. If you love the team and really believed in our chance for the title, this match has been the most painful game of the season.

Arseblog and Goonerholic argued for Arsene to buy a new striker and evaluate our goalkeeping situation. Does this mean that they’re less of a fan than you are? Don’t be stupid.

We lost. Its normal for people to feel dissapointed. If Denilson had played well, would people have slagged him off? Maybe a few. But not the majority. He played well against Everton and you could see the glowing praise he recieved.

“scapegoaters exposed themselves today” that’s just pathetic.

  279. Feel sorry for Fabregas.

This result isn’t that surprising. We have been behind Chelsea and Man Utd for the last few seasons. Things are not changing.

We need some new players. Why didn’t Wenger buy a new striker given that RVP was out for the season?

    Denilson was a disgrace!

  280. We can lose 1 or 2 more games and still win the league.

  281. @ dave
no need to use capitals u understand
and go find some man utd supporters because no place for you here in other words f*ck off you c*nt

  282. well im pissed. cant believe we have been giving another spanking by them shite c*nts in our backyard.

  283. Just kidding. Bad game. Bring on Chelsea.

  284. I agree with you Abid.

There are lots of idiot Arsenal fans on this site who have blind faith in Wenger as year after year we are losing to Chelsea and Man Utd in crucial games late in the season.

  285. Does anyone else feel that if we could only duplicate the kind of commitment we had for the last 20 minutes over a whole match, we would crush all before us? I don’t mean to put down the team, but it just seemed that we looked a little lethargic for stretches of that game…

  286. ALMUNIA DENILSON 2/WALCOTT 3 CLICHY 3
    THE REST JUST POOR

FORGET THE EPL UNLESS THERES A MIRACLE

  287. Paul N,STRINGBED FELLOWS IS NOT A KOOL-AID DRINKER LIKE YOU.YOU BELIEVE ANYTHING WENGUR SAYS RATHER THAN RUBBING TWO BRAIN CELLS TOGETHER.

YOU WILL WIN NOTHING THIS SEASON…

AS FOR CHAMPIONS LEAGUE,WITH THAT YOUR DEFENCE, BARCELONA COULD SCORE 10 GOALS AGAINST YOU GUYS..REAL MADRID WOULD SCORE 9 GOALS AGAINST YOU LITTLE BOYS..NOT FORGETTING THE ALMIGHTY CHELSEA.

  288. Ole gunner @5.58p.m

Yeah sure, let’s try that shall we?

    You’re a fucking idiot!

  289. well said abid

you fucking total none entites think you are better fans because you blow smoke up each others arses?

fucking wankers of the highest order is what you are

we all love arsenal, just because some have a different view to simpletons like you makes you a better fan?

fuck right off you mother fuckers… anybody want a piece of me come with it

    you fucking cocksucking cunts…

  290. …not the most brilliant analysis, I know.

  291. People can look at the short term all they like, fact of the matter is that after the Chelsea game there isn’t a single match that isn’t winnable with the squad we have. We’ve been dealt a relatively kind fixture list and it’d be stupid to pretend this is the end of the world.

  292. Denilson will never be a top player, he was shit today, absolutely shit. I know some players have bad performances but this was a bad championship performance. Gutted, so gutted

  293. I knew we were not going to win the EPL unless we bought in some new players.

I still think we will finish in the top four.

    Another season with no trophies.

  294. I wonder if Diaby made a difference.

The only positive that I can take from the game, is it just reinforces how important TV has become to the team.

Just what -if- he was injured today? He can defend, he can attack, and he never stops trying.

  295. Denilson was awful. How can he wear the Arsenal shirt? His performance was a disgrace.

Wenger needs to get rid of him

  296. for those who blame arshavin he is playng with a fucking injury

  297. Ooo, typo. If Diaby -could- have made a difference if he weren’t injured.

  298. gooner1 we will not be out of the top 3

chelski are very beatable next week.

  299. ALL OF YOU WHO CALL US DOOMERS WENGERSPIN SAID BEFORE THE GAME WE WERE IN A DIFFERENT CLASS THAN LAST YEAR DID ANYONE SEE THAT TODAY?

  300. I agree Ted, up until the deflected Verma strike hit the net it felt none of the team believed we were going to score. The attitude totally changed after that.

  301. Anybody on this site who questions Wenger is in the wrong place. Of course we all care when we get beaten. Of course we should have done better today. i didn’t read all you whingers saying that a few days ago while we were on an incredible run.

I hate to lose. I hate the whingers that bring us down and play our enemies game more. Give succour to the opposition? No chance you think that might work against us?

We’ll win again. You whingers just make it harder for everyone, including the team.

  302. LE ARSE MADE HISTORY TODAY.YOU GUYS WERE TRASHED BY A USELESS MANURE TEAM ON 3D….

SKY IS GONNA USE ALL THREE GOALS AS ADVERT FOR THEIR 3D STUPIDNESS……

JUST LIKE THEY USE RONALDO’S GOAL AGAINST YOU GUYS FOR THEIR ADVERT.IT MUST HURT TO BE A LE ARSE FAN

  303. Wenger has managed to convince a large portion of Arsenal supporters to have faith in youngsters and the development of the team. But why is the team failing when it plays Man Utd and Chelsea? Why are we still proving to be immensely weak against these two team?

Its just not good enough. I’m so disappointed today.
    This really hurts.

  304. clichydoubledeuce

ok fine, its all wenger’s fault….lets get rid of him and bring in…..

(feel free to finish that sentence. yeah, thought not)

  305. A cultured foot my foot. The most rose-tinted website ever, sometime I doubt the articles are written by Wenger himself, given how much the excuses for failure sound similar

  306. “Anybody on this site who questions Wenger is in the wrong place. ”

WHAT THE FUCK? you actually said that??

  307. This loss is really annoying. Simply because, compared to say, last weeks game against Villa or our game against Burnley, we looked really good. The game was very open, we had 2 great chances in the first 20 minutes and we just didn’t use them. Not wanting to put Arshavin down, who really ran a lot today, created space and had chances, but if he had passed instead of tried shooting, we might’ve been up. Unfortunately Clichy had a bad first half and was undone time and time again by Nani. Actually, he is the only one I would single out to had a bad performance because people like Song, Cesc or Nasri did perform. Rosicky and Denilson were in the background even though they didn’t have a particularly bad game.

I am still confident for the fixture against Chelsea…I am only afraid that when we beat Chelsea, it will actually help ManU and they might win the league again.

  308. console go to any other AFC site and see the comments.

  309. @ Ted Harwood
Not stupid at all. We’ve been starting too slowly. Hopefully this will be the last game we say that about!

    @ Vince
Agree. It is horrible to lose at home to a team that I believe we are actually better than, but the title is still on. Puts even more pressure on us, but at least we have more players back and more tactical options.

  310. “The worry is we do seem to get a spanking by the other big teams to fukin often.”

And I find it hard to know why, is it psychological? We always used to be up for these games and would play without fear, but lately, I don’t know? The players have to believe because they certainly have the talent and they are not doing themselves justice.

But the game is over now so they have to forget it and move on to the next one. Where there’s life there’s hope.

  311. @ kachda…

    well said.

  312. God, theres a lot of sad, miserable bastards on here these days. It was better last season when we weren’t in the chase.

  313. @solgooner

    i did

  314. DAVE does your mum know your on the computer again? You need to ask her to turn the caps lock off for you. Prick.

  315. piss fukin poor

  316. Also, please, remember. Last year we did well against Chelsea and ManU in the league and where did we end up? Fourth place, exactly. You don’t win the league against the mancs or the chavs. You win the league by being consistent against the weaker sides.

  317. Why would I want to do that, Sol? Will more whining make me feel better or change my mind about you and your ilk?

I am an AKB and very proud of it.

  318. I would much rather play Chelsea on Wednesday than to have to wait till Sunday….I want to see us play so badly, right now..

  319. SOLGOONER,LE PROFESSEUR WENGUS IS DELUDED AND SENILE….

EVEN AFTER THE TRASHING BY CHELSEA IN YOUR STADIUM…HE STILL CLAIMS YOU GUYS ARE IN A DIFFERENT CLASS THAN LAST YEAR….

I’M JUST A CHELSEA SUPPORTER BUT I CAN PINPOINT THE PROBLEMS IN YOUR TEAM….WENGUS IS TOO OBSTINATE

YOUR FELLOW LE ARSE FAN ARE NOW CRYING ON TALK SPORTS…..THEY ARE ALL CRYING TO RAY PARLOUR AND IAN DANTER….ABOUT WENGUS BEING OBSTINATE

  320. say it again, love wenger. And I know I’m just ‘reacting/looking for scapegoats/etc’ but the decision to play denilson was the wrong one.

Call him a jack of all trades or a master of none but when you are playing big games against the best opponents, it’s obvious that he is more often than not the latter.

  321. I am the biggest AKB, hence my blog dedicated to the great man.

Does that mean i am not allowed to speak a word against arsenal? and his decision?

    grow up.

  322. It means you should speak respectfully, Stringfellow Hawke.

  323. Bad Game.

missed at least 3 or 4 realy good chances.

Dave wouldnt be here if he didnt consider us contender.

I was thinking, might shag his girlfriend later. But then I realised were no-where near close enough friends.

    Bring on the bridge.

  324. I dont think i could go over to le groan now. it might send me over the edge.

  325. frank mclintock, tony adams, great arsenal leaders.

but according to some small minded dipsticks on here.. as they have made MINOR criticisms of the manager…

they are shallow, reactionist anti-arsenal fools.

you fucking plums, get over yourselves and understand you need BALANCE in your views for them to be relevant.

if you are blindly going to take one side of the argument no matter what facts are on offer.. you need shooting.

    quickly.

  326. It must be said, guys, that we didn’t get completely outplayed, guys. It comes down to taking chances; look how many shots we had. They scored on one bit of skill and luck and two counters. It’s not like we got crushed all game long. Arshy buries one of those chances early, different match entirely.

  327. @consolbob thats why they say all in all its just 3 points lost but its the image and confidence of the club and supporters that has taken the knock but you the real mistakes were done against westham everton burnley et al anyways

    ARSENAL FOREVER
    IN ARSENE WE TRUST

    DARE TO BELIEVE

  328. so consolbob you are a very proud arsene fan,
stop claiming to be an arsenal fan..

if you call yourself an akb you will get no respect!
or maybe with some people on this site but having read some of the comments today those people who respect you have absoloutly no idea about football….

  329. IT SEEMS THE DEFEAT HAVE DRIVEN SOME OF YOU GUYS BONKERS THAT EVERY LE ARSE FAN IS NOW SURE OF BEATING CHELSEA…..

YOU GUYS ARE NOW OPERATING ON AN ALTERNATE REALITY LEVEL….I DIDN’T KNOW A DEFEAT COULD DO THIS TO LE PROFESSEUR WENGUS PETS.

CHELSEA ARE BETTER THAN MANURE…THE TABLE DOES NOT LIE…CHELSEA TRASHED U GUYS IN YOUR HOME, AND EVEN TRASHED SUNDERLAND…THAT U GUYS CAN’T BEAT..LOL

AND EVERYBODY IS NOW SO CONFIDENT OF BEATING CHELSEA….ONE WORD:DROGBA

  330. We have been in worse situations and managed to come back. When we lost against Chelsea we were more points away from the top and there are still 14 fixtures to be played. Enough time for Chelsea and ManU to drop points and enough time for us to catch up.

  331. That sounds about right, TH. We had to score the first goal, or at least score our first goal in the first half.

  332. Fascinating and skillful game of football to watch, even though it hurts to lose. After we scored there was a real urgency to our attacking play which I really enjoyed watching, even though we were losing. I didn’t even mind the commentary today as there seemed to be some urging us on.
There seems to be a gap between Chelsea/Man U and us at the moment – and I don’t mean in skill or ability of the players – it seems to be about confidence or belief or maybe tactics, especially when we go one goal down.
Still, pick ourselves up ready for Chelsea, we’re still in reach.
And Dave, you are the most boring and infantile person, were you bullied or interfered with as a child? People don’t even read your comments anymore I am sure.

  333. clichydoubledeuce

wow that was fast….the shitstorm has already begun. take a look at arsenal action’s drivel…

  334. Well said, Fun.

By the way,sh. I am not reading anybody making excuses on here. We were well beaten and didn’t play well enough. I think that team should have won today.

Your comment at 5.57 seems to be very quick to label us all as excusists for a poor performance.

I still think that we are the best side in the league. Today we lost. It happens. We will move on.

  335. concede 1st goal, everyone goes up the pitch to get an equaliser, then condede again with a counter attack. we repeat this pattern again and agian.

i think if arshavin had given the ball to cesc or rosicky early in the first half, then if would have been a different result.

arshavin tried too hard, maybe wenger’s interview put him under too much pressure?

damn, i almost had a heart attack. it’s 3:20 in the morning and i don’t think i would be able to sleep.

i’m a south korean gooner, tv stations will definitely play their 3rd goal again and again. I won’t watch tv tomorrow.

  336. @MDGunner

Quite right, especially if we are down and the game is coming to a close, we show urgency, but our passing and moving gets really bad. We see a lot of the ball, but we seldomly manage to convert it into a goal when we are down in the last 10 minutes..

  337. No shame in losing to the champions. They were Solid all over the Park and clinical in finishing. What is frustrating about the game is the manner of the defeat and that ‘flippin’ tw@t Nani being MOTM. No doubt there will be eulogising about this result tommorrow and the regular Arsenal bashing.

Being objective though we wasted opportunities against a team that was not over physical and that denied us the ball what is supposed to be our strength and conceding from counter attacks. We cannot argue that we were just about second best on this occassion. We never worked the make shift defence.

Eduardo,RVP and Diaby were missed. No doubt the clamour for a striker goes on. The team needs to pick itself up for Chelski and Liverpoo. I think as good as Utd were and we were poor there will be teams that will have the measure of them. Utd only won one of their clashes against the top 4 and walked away with the title last year. In fact being soundly beaten by Liverpool 4-1 and losing to Arsenal and Chelsea. COYG!

  338. have balance in your views.

the denilson apologists needs to look at the goals and look at what he offered.

he let nani take the living piss out of him for the 1st

he watched rooney glide past him and bang the 2nd in

and lost possession 3 fucking times on the trot before they finally buried the 3rd.

wtf is up with you guys?

  339. here here

    It hurts it realy does.

    But everything was there today.

We had chances but we were nervous.

Its the kind of problem winning a trophy will change inside our players heads. A catalyst.

Utd are average but its true that winning things change attitudes of even the most average of players.

We need a win at chavford bridge.

  340. As for what you think john. Why would I care?

Huge fan of Frank and Tony. Great players, watched them win titles for us. Doesn’t mean that I think they talk sense all the time.

  341. GUNNERS FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RASERS, STAND UP & BE F***KIN” COUNTED!!!!!!

  342. Writing a blog doesnt make anyone a wonderful supporter, it makes them a supporter that writes a blog.

We have not lost in how long in the PL, we get this one wrong by going forward too much and being caught on the counter and all of our players are not good. Denilson had a bad game and we need to get rid of him and that with no mention of the vital goals he has scored and good play overall.

stringfellow, your comments are not based on perspective they are based on the emotions of poor one match and not a season of some great football and also having a lot still left to play for.

Again, Man United lost to Fulham and Chelsea to Burnley but look where they are positioned.

One match does not make a season, regardless of how bad we played.

  343. evil thick

surely you need to win if you are 5 points behind the leaders

points at the end is what matters

what you said at 6:11pm is nothing short of fucking stupid..

  344. Wenger has just said

    “we made MASSIVE individual errors”

“we were poor defensively and offensively”

so… who is he reffering to apologists?

  345. “And I find it hard to know why, is it psychological?”

dont know but man utd looked fresher and sharper to the ball and on the ball today.

Didnt see this coming. thought ferdinand and vidic out also our midfield being able to keep the ball would edge it but boy was i wrong. i mean carrick scholes and fletcher done our 3. the second and third goals were comical really.
    gutted..

  346. stringfellow, are you saying that Denilson is always at fault for goals scored against Arsenal?

You see, you lack perspective. If you were a manager you would give a player the sack everytime they had a bad game, in other words you would have no team.

  347. DAVE YOUR TEAM IS BUILT AND FINANCED BY MONEY STOLEN FROM THE RUSSIAN PEOPLE

  348. no you’re not expected to care what I think…

but leave the akb thing out it doesn’t reflect on you well..

  349. PAULN We sonrt need to get rid of Denilson but he shouldnt be in the starting line up

  350. Paul N – i never said get rid of Denilson

i said he offers little in this team

look how he let that winger get past him last week at stoke

look how he had a BIG hand in all 3 goals

he is a average player, he is certainly not world class… even lucas from pool has been in the brazil squad

    why has denilson not?

he is a good squad player, but i have never seen him offer much. for the 1st team

had diaby played instead of denilson today… would we have been battered?

  351. 4 of our last 5 goals conceded are down to denilson…

  352. I am actually proud of the way the players had a go at the end, we played some good stuff but didnt get the breaks.

Onto the Chelsea, we win that and stringfellow will be posting “ARSENAL FOR THE PL AND CL TITLES”.

  353. stringfellowhawk

    what did he exactly said

  354. Paul N – are you actually reading what i post or making it up as you go along?

when did i say he is to blame for ALL goals arsenal concede?

you epitomise whats wrong with some of you.. its your view and that is it.

fuck listening to anybody else… your mind is made up.

  355. Stringfellow, he had a bad game but who were you going to play in that spot?

People have bad games and sometimes players have good one and Nani did today, that was a bad combination for Arsenal.

My verdict is that when you play United you have to be a bit more defensive minded. On corners people need to stay back, they are too good on the counter.

  356. Gutted. Two of the three goals we conceded were defensive mistakes that could’ve been avoided. Credit to Nani for his great play. His goal was class. The second could’ve been avoided if someone would’ve tracked Rooney’s run. The third was just like the one we conceded against Everton. One of Gallas or Vermaelen needs to stay back when the other goes up. Unlucky to lose but I don’t think this team is down and out. The season can still take plenty of twists and turns. This isn’t done by a lomg shot. United are only four points ahead of us and Chelsea will be up by seven if they beat Hull in midweek. All the team can do is concentrate on the upcoming fixtures and get as many points as possible. Period.

The doomers need to shut the fuck up. The season is far, far from over. If an adverse result means you fold like a piece of paper you need to check your own mental stability instead of questioning the club. The rational amongst us need to keep our heads and keep supporting the team. You lot can fuck right off and cry yourselves to sleep. If you can’t stand what your mates are going to say about you it’s your fault.

    Peace.

  357. Could somebody please accurately point me out how it was Denilson fault for the last 4 games we conceded?

  358. Paul N – if you were a manger, you would be relegated every season and wonder what went wrong?

it was a great seaon, we played superb, fuck knows how we got relegated

    😆

  359. right, good, you finall own up to agreeing with me PAul

    was it that hard?

  360. “the denilson apologists needs to look at the goals and look at what he offered.

he let nani take the living piss out of him for the 1st

he watched rooney glide past him and bang the 2nd in”

the first goal nani took the piss out of clichy and nasri before he got anywhere near denilson and the second if you watch clichy should have been a lot tighter to rooney when he layed it off to nani from our corner in their half. really poor defending. i dont think it fair to single out 1 player when about 7/8 players played shit. the whole team is to blame really. and they have to man up cause stamford bridge is round the corner.

  361. No stringfellow, I am saying that so you can have perspective, one bad game is one bad game. You and may others have blasted Denilson as if he is not a good player and thats just not true.

  362. right lets see andy gray on his magic toy break down all the manc goals

    and see what happened

MOTD will rip denilson a new one tonight, wait and see.

  363. The people moaning about Denilson make me laugh. There were plenty of players who had a sub par game and you zero in on Denilson? Typical.

  364. My mind is made up that we are a very good side.

My mind is made up that arsene is the best manager that we could possibly have.

My mind is made up that I will support my team in whatever way that I can.

My mind is made up that I will not slate individual plaers for a lack lustre performance.

We win and lose as a team. i didn’t read anything in your post that says arsene picked on any individual player in his criticism SH. Why do you think that is?

  365. SOLGOONER,BE A LITTLE CREATIVE, SON AND USE UR BRAIN CELLS TO BE A LITTLE BIT CREATIVE….I KNOW LE ARSE FANS ARE DIM BUT THIS IS NEW LEVELS,MATE.

THAT TALKING POINT IS 20 YEARS OLD,SON…..I COULD MAKE YOU CRY NOW…SuperNasri,IS A LE ARSE FAN,WHO LEAVES IN SOUTH KOREA AND HE IS SURE THAT JI SUNG PARK’S GOAL WOULD BE USED FOR AN ADVERT….LOL

POOR LE ARSE FANS…EVEN FANS IN SOUTH KOREA ARE SO EMBARRASSED TO WATCH TV…..NANI’S GOAL WOULD BE USED FOR ADVERTS IN PORTUGAL…

YOUR GLORY HUNTING FOREIGN FANS WOULD START LEAVING UR CLUB…LOL

  366. Fuck Andy Gray. And Fuck man of the day.

  367. i would have signed for the loss today if it means we win at stamford bridge.

  368. I would be relegated? thats a dumb comment, I am not here defending my players. I am defending the players at Arsenal and these same players have us within a shout of the title but I the way you think our title challenge is most probably over, right?

  369. I suggest Wenger sits in front of his big old TV and watches the Chav & both Manu games. Then I suggest both our “Billion-fuckin-aire” board members as well as the other multi millionaires watch the same.

There should then be an extra ordinary general meeting held with all parties present were they should be asked these questions by our poxy patsy Arsenal Supporters Trust:

1/ Where have all the Arsenal funds gone?

2/ Why dont you cunts put your hands in your pockets?

3/ Why, when we are still streets behind both Manu & the Chavs is nothing done yet again?

4/ Why do we still have the likes of Almunia & Denilson in our starting 11?

5/ How much longer do you feel Fabregas should put up with this lack of investment around him when Barcelona can surround him with class?

6/ How much longer do you feel the stadium will be filled once enough people realise they’re being taken for an almighty ride?

7/ Highest ticket prices in the world, 3rd highest turnover in the world yet you serve up this 2nd rate shit, do you really think this will last? Really?

8/ If it really is down to Wenger then how’s about looking at alternatives? His philosophy is being exposed as dated, it’s not like he’ll be around for ever so why not get a new man in before Manu go looking for theirs?

  370. You actually care what the likes of Gray and Hansen say about our players, SH?

    That astonishes me. Really.

  371. @ deano
Very, very well said. I’d say we need a good performance first and foremost against Chavski. That will raise the team’s confidence, whatever the result. We just have to take that last step towards total self-belief.

    @ John
    “evil thick

surely you need to win if you are 5 points behind the leaders

points at the end is what matters”

Perhaps I can explain. We would have cut down Chelsea’s lead if we won next weekend, but we wouldn’t have won the title, because the season is not over next weekend. As long we end up with more points than anyone else it doesn’t matter where we got them. That is how ManU won the title last year.

    In Arsene we trust.

  372. becasue he is the manager of the team, consol

are you suggesting you are aswell? 😆

we are fans, we are allowed an opinion, what makes you think we are not?

  373. Who the hell cares what MOTD are going to do!?

  374. Marcotti on 5live trying his best to spread his bile out on the airwaves. Apparently there’s no difference between Arsenal’s debt and ManU’s. Like there’s no difference between having a mortgage and selling your kidney’s. Hilarious gibberish that’s actually cheered me up!

  375. consol, the tv screen does not lie… who cares what gray says.. the way they break goals down with the technology they have proves certain points.

denilson made huge errors today that cost us goals.

    and the technology proves it.

  376. If Roman leaves, your glory hunting fans will disappear. They’ll rightly go to the club that would’ve gotten them first. Man U. Do you think those fuckers were around when Zola and Vialli were at Chelsea? No.

  377. We had a tough season last year, finished 4th and made the semis of the Champions league. An awful lot of so called supporters moaned all year. This year we are a better side and they carry on moaning.

You don’t know how lucky you are to experience this arsenal side.

  378. evil thick

    1. lost possesion for boltons first

    2. gave penalty away for boltons second

    3. let rooney surge in behind him when there were to others chasing nani, his eyes where stuck on the ball, no awareness therefore his fault..

    4. lost possession for utd’s 3rd put us on the backfoot what was even more stressful was he didn’t even chase his mistake..

i would be very pleased if that little boy never plays for arsenal again..

  379. i wonder why wenger took off denilson?

  380. FG, they cannot understand that you dont win the PL by only beating the big clubs, its about a point talley, regardless.

As I said, we did the double over United and barely got into the CL spot.

    ARSENAL!!!

  381. anybody with SKY TV watch it now

they are going to break down all the utd goals

  382. SH because we needed to bring on more attack minded players? Denilson is a defensive player.
Same reason why he brought on Eboue for Sagna. Eboue gives us more in attack, Sagna more in defence.

  383. consolbob.

we have experienced a better side 2002 and 2004 much better team all winners.

are you sure you aren’t a new fan all that chat about tony and frank was that all bollocks!!!

  384. since when did results against the top 4 matter?

we are 5 points behind. we came back from 11 points behind before.

we just need to dig in.

the god of football deserted us today. luck has never been with us.

when we win it, i will throw it in the face of god, and tell him: f*** you.

  385. ok, so denilson offered nothing in attack… fair enough

what did he offer in defence?

  386. LE ARSE FANS ARE ANGRY WITH ANDY GRAY,WHO IS SPEAKING THE GOSPEL TRUTH…LOL…INSTEAD OF BEING ANGRY WITH YOUR MANAGER

IT SEEMS LE PROFESSEUR WENGUS SENDS KOOL AID TO YOU GUYS ON EVERY MATCH DAY

UR MIDFIELD WAS SO USELESS TODAY THAT PAUL SCHOLES WAS BEGINNING TO SHINE LIKE MESSI AND NANI BECAME RONALDO….

U GUYS ARE AN EMBARRASSMENT TO LONDON…..MAKING ALL THIS NORTHERN CLUBS BRAG…REALLY SAD,LOL

  387. @SH
4 interceptions as well as winning the majority of tackles (He won 6, lost only 1)

  388. Opinions do matter SH. Some more than others. For us, as Arsenal supporters, it is Arsene’s opinion that matters the most.

Do you remember the awful slagging off of Song? Of Eboue? Did that make those that booed them good supporters or even reasonable ones?

My perspective is my own. It is not down to the views of MOTD or SKY of the newspapers. It is certainly not down to a bunch of whiners with no stomach for supporting a team through thick and thin.

I repeat, we were well beaten today. It was not a good performance. I will continue to support Arsene and the players he picks at every opportunity.

  389. fun gunner who said anything about winning the title read it properly…

I was making a comment in relation to one of the dumbest posts i’ve ever read..

  390. dave for fuck sake.

Are you aware that you lost 3-1 at wigan?

    Fuckin wigan???

    Its football mate fuck off.

  391. He also made 34 succesful passes, and only missed two.

  392. Dave, grow up. You are embarrsing yourself with those comments.

Even you can do better at a wind up than that.

    Thats was poor.

  393. You need a question mark after a question John, not three exclamation marks.

  394. consol – you last post is a huge contradiction in terms.

try again, its wenger view that matters most… or its your perspective/views

    which one?

  395. In comparison: Song also had 4 interceptions, won 5 tackles and lost 3.

  396. love denilson

  397. clichydoubledeuce

    @ consolbob 6:33 pm

    POTD

  398. sorry consolbob my grammer mistake, at least you worked it out.

    ???

  399. evilfiek – can you link where you are getting those stats from

it appears wenger got it wrong, and should have kept denilson on..?

is that what you are suggesting?

take song off and keep den on?

  400. Tell em Mr. Bob!

    WE NAH GO BACK DOWN!

    WE SUPPORT OUR TEAM!!!

  401. clichydoubledeuce

    WE ARE THE ARSENAL!

  402. Anyone who booed today is a disgrace. It was a poor performance but we still made plenty of opportunities. We pick ourselves up and go again. We don’t whinge and moan like little children. I went to see my local team in the Blue Square South on Saturday, I froze my bollocks off watching some of the worst football imaginable and I can tell you – if you don’t appreciate The Arsenal, you can f*ck off. Arsenal don’t need you. Arsenal are forever. We’re still very much in the race – we need to take this personally and fight hard for the rest of the season. If you’re not up for it and you don’t believe this team can do it – then again, fuck off. We don’t need you. Arsenal have many bright, strong-hearted fans – and quite a few fucking whingey spoilt arsehole ones too. Chelsea will drop points away from home, Rooney’s form will dip – Arsenal can push all the way, and if we should fall or falter at the last then at least we stood up and fought and didn’t turn our backs and walk away in January. Spoilt fucking brats.

  403. No, SH, I am not suggesting that, I am just showing that defensively, both had similiar stats. In my opinion it was the right decision to leave Song on, because he offered more offensively.

And I am getting those stats from the chalkboards over at the Guardian website. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/chalkboards/create

  404. consolbob “I will continue to support Arsene and the players he picks at every opportunity.”

    you support arsenal or asene?

  405. There were players that had a poor game, but most of the others looked like something could’ve come off.

Clichy seems to get exposed too regularly, don’t know if I can blame him completely but something’s not right on his side.

Arshavin made some bad decisions but on another day, could’ve had a goal maybe 2.

Denilson is the weak link. He might pop in with a good long-range effort, he might break up some play, but does that make up for his overall mediocrity?

He loses the ball too often, is clearly less skilled on the ball than the rest of the players aside from maybe our full-backs, he lacks pace, even when he tracks back he does it poorly.

Hate to blame him because I like him as a personality, but he is not yet up to the calibre we need. He is a squad player and today has proven it. Diaby and Ramsey (for all his youthful indiscretions) should be ahead of him, and we should also not be afraid to play nasri/rosicky next to cesc.

  406. Stringfellow every team will loose games. Get over it. We have lost as many games as Utd now. Onwards and upwards. If you are advertising your blog as a bastion for honest views you are going about it the wrong way. ACLF is all about being honest.

As for Dave f@ck off. Have you not worked out how to take the Caps lock of your computer yet?You wont be laughing when we turn you over at the bridge.

  407. A sad defeat to follow. Seems, a good way to beat us is to use pacy wingers. We struggled against City, Chelsea, and today at Manu. The lack of a good striker upfront showed, as we were too reluctant to pull the trigger. Can’t expect the midfield to deliver everytime. Each team would play differently, and too expect Arshavin to dominate in big matches as a central striker is asking too much. Smaller teams, yes, but not the bigger teams. Every player has his certain skill set, Arshavin could be better used elsewhere. The game got better as he dropped back, and bendtner moved upfront. Tough to call, the next few games. But perhaps a striker could have been handy to buy in january, given that relying on midfielders to score in big matches is risking it a little too much. I expect Arsene to dip into the transfer market this summers, for a quality striker.

As for Sagna, really, whats the point of him coming forward, when he can’t even cross the ball. Let him stay back, and defend. Seriously, it’s about time he learns to freaking cross. And Clichy, was responsible for two of their goals. He didn’t track back Rooney, and Nani got the better of him. And HE CANT CROSS EITHER. Pace, but no decent end product.

Why did we play without a goalkeeper today?

  408. Paul N

you idiot, i support my team aswell, does that mean i cannot offer a balanced view?

clearly wenger does not support the team.. as he blamed “massive individual errors”

you nonce case, get over puberty, watch football for more than 5 years

then come back and talk to me

  409. thanks for the link, evielfiek.

  410. DAVE:

What an absolute wank stain you are mate. Nothing better to do than come on here and wind people up. Are your parents, if you know them, aware that your on the computer & do they realise how easily your IP address can be compromised?

As for “embarrassment to London”, not only are you no longer a London team, your actually in debt to the biggest Russian ganster ever known. When he leaves, which he will, your team will collapse. Now theres something to look forward to.

  411. PAUL N,UR CLUB IS USELESS.NONE OF UR BEST PLAYERS CAN MAKE IT INTO OUR FIRST TEAM.EVEN UR BEST PLAYERS CAN’T……

    LAMPARD VS FRABREGAS…NO CONTEST
    LAMPARD ALL DAY LONG

ARSHAVIN IS JUST AN EXPENSIVE JOE COLE WHO GETS INJURED EVERY DAY

    RVP VS DROGBA….NO CONTEST
    DROGBA ALL DAY

I’M NOT BEING PARTISAN THERE BUT TRUTHFUL.
REAL LE ARSE FAN WOULD UNDERSTAND..

  412. stringfellow, call me all the names you want but to me you are a weakhearted, though very opinionated supporter. gutless

You are like the tine man(In think) in the wizard of oz, you need a heart.

  413. denilson

    6 clearances

    1 successful

5 times he gave the ball back to the oppostion

3 of them led to the 3rd goal.

  414. clichydoubledeuce

“ARSHAVIN IS JUST AN EXPENSIVE JOE COLE WHO GETS INJURED EVERY DAY”

i know i shouldn’t feed the trolls, but that one just made me laugh

  415. Kobst, you rate Ramsey higher than Denilson? They’re about the same and have some of the same defficiencies.

  416. You know the funny thing is: if we had won today, none of our regulars would’ve wasted his time on a ManU blog. How come Dave got nothing better to do after a win?

  417. Ouch.

Another big game another mare from Almunia. We can still win the league, but that needs to change quickly.

His expression after throwing the ball in his own net, like he has a particularly confusing bout of constipation, is not the sort of thing you see from top players. I realise it isn’t scientific, but to me it seems like the sign of a terminal condition.

We were shocking for the second goal. 4 players strolling back whilst Rooney sprinted through. How many times do we have to make the same mistake before we figure out a bit of intelligence in defence.

Clichy had a poor game. Denilson has regressed badly this season.

If we win against CSKA on Sunday we are right back in the race, but something has to change for us to be champions. We can’t keep throwing games away and struggling to defend against the better teams.

If we had taken our chances and defended just a little bit, we could have won that. The quality is there.

  418. @ John

Chelsea were 11 points ahead and we caught up.

Your post implied that if we don’t win at Chelsea, we might as well give up. That is not true. If we had two games left we would absolutely have to win at Chelsea. But there are 15 games left.
A win at Chelsea would be a massive psychological boost, and make the task easier, but it isn’t all over if we don’t win.

  419. Paul N – you are a pansy newcomer

like i said, follow the team for a few more years then come and talk

you talk bollox, you dont even riposted correctly.. you make it up as you go along to suit your own view.

    pathetic is a major understatement

gutless is what you are, just keep following the apolgists and keep bowing down and picking up constant cherry blossom poisioning.

    😆

  420. Dave, as useless as we are we are still 3rd in the PL.

With your billions you should win every year if you dont you team is a failure.

I wouldnt be proud of your time, overnight sucess buy ourside money.

If Arsenal never win the PL title, we as supporters can be very proud that with far less spending we kept the pace with teams that have bought sucess and its been very litlle for Chelsea mind you.

    ARSENAL!!

  421. No contradiction SH.

His opinion matters the most because he picks the players and decides on all things Arsenal. As Arsenal supporters who else’s opinions couls possibly matter more?

That is my opinion. It is not the opinion of some of those who have posted here tonight.

I think you are the one in conflict with yourself. “..clearly wenger does not support the team.. as he blamed “massive individual errors”. Do you truly believe that Arsene does not support his team? Where have you been?

  422. I would prefer be a pansy that supports through thick and thin than to be a supporter who is spinless.

The Wizard has a heart and spine for you.

  423. fun gunner

    READ IT AGAIN

I said the comment that evil thick posted was stupid

and then I said the best thing to do when we are 5 points behind is win whether we play utd or even sunderland

infact read evil’s comment then read mine

    have you sussed it yet?

  424. for crying out loud consol, are you that daft?

    that was an ironic post

you lot are just simple 😆

  425. @ Stringfellow Hawked

It appears wenger got it wrong, and should have kept denilson on..?

Or perhaps it was a tactical substitution, as some people have suggested, and he elected to leave on the holding player instead of the volante when bringing on an out-and-out attacker?

  426. Paul N – the wizard has a club for you… other side of the 7 sisters.

    they like making apologies

    gooners are winners.

  427. No you are a little wimp, I can tell Stringfellow.
Only a weak supporter always looks to point fingers after every match.

get a spine, you moany little baby.

  428. thank you for all the true fans on here.

    You know who you are.

Its good for people who truly support this club to stick together.

    Football is almost entirley unpredictable.

    Hope is a necessity.

I saw smatterings of brilliance today, smothered by nerves.

It will not be the same next sunday.

  429. well spotted fun gunner

i see there are no flies on you 😆

you lot really are simple, its unreal lol

  430. For anyone in need of football therapy, there’s a great La Liga game starting in an hour. Sevilla vs Valencia.

Got to be more fun than moaning about Arsenal.

  431. Ateeb

Don’t know how you watched the game but Clichy and Almunia were at fault for the first goal. Clichy for allowing Nani to go through and Almunia’s poor positioning meant that he could only push the ball towards his own goal.

The person who should have tracked back Rooney was the great DM/CM Denilson, ‘the best in the EPL with the best statistics’ he was ball watching for the second goal and his lack of pace once more did him in the third. Denilson will not be successful here, why? Poor passing, , can’t tackle, can’t track back. He’s a poor team’s DM. How Arsene could travel all the way to Brazil just to buy such a crap is beyond me. He’s the weakest inthe midfield formation.

Diaby should be fit for the Chelsea game else we’ll be finished.

  432. Gooner4Life,TURN US OVER AT THE BRIDGE….YOU MUST BE DREAMING ,MATEY.

WE’LL BEAT HULL ON WEDNESDAY AND OPENED AN 8 POINTS GAP WITH YOU LOSERS.

WE WILL TRASHED YOU GUYS AT THE BRIDGE AND RE-ESTABLISHED OUR 11 POINTS GAP
AND UR SEASON WOULD BE OVER.

U GUYS HOPED FOR US TO DROP POINTS DURING THE AFRICAN NATIONS CUP BUT WE DIDN’T.NOW UR PRAYING FOR CHELSEA TO DROP POINTS…LOL…..ALL YOU GOT IS A PRAYER

PRAY HARD,SON COS WE HAVEN’T LOST ANY GAME AT THE BRIDGE THIS SEASON

BESIDES,DROGBA IS WELL RESTED AND WAITING FOR YOU GUYS….HE MAY NOT EVEN PLAY THE HULL GAME.WE BEAT BURNLEY IN THE STADIUM WITHOUT HIM…SOMETHING ONE PLASTIC LONDON CLUB COULD NOT DO

  433. there you go again Paul

making it up as you go along

you are a proper village idiot… which one has lost you? 😆

  434. You write a blog, ha ha!! I can bet the crap thats on there.

I am telling you, we beat Chelsea and stringfellow will be saying we can conquer the world.

Up and down like a blasted roller coaster.

    BOOO to string fellow!

  435. By the way, SH, your insults to Paul N, who has been posting here for a lot longer than you are unnecessary and wrong.

The moe we debate, the ruder you get. Most people would think that is a sign of losing an argument. Not me, you understand. I get fed up with posers on here pretty quickly and can’t be bothered to be reasonable with them.

However, don’t waggle your dick at me. I’ve watched Arsenal, good and poor sides for an awfully long time. How long you have been watching Arsenal does not decide how good a supporter you are.

  436. Bob,

Arsene is right about massive individual errors. I can pick Almunia, and Clichy for them. Perhaps, Sagna and Denilson on a lesser level. But frankly, that second goal we Clichy, was ridiculous. If Clichy doesn’t know better than to mark Rooney’s run, than he shouldn’t be playing. Enough of individual errors, that isn’t an excuse. They’re not kids anymore. It’s a lack of basics skills and a strong mind. Extremely poor defending. And the match would have been different, had we be playing a striker, the chances that went begging in the first 30 minutes, we should have scored from atleast one. No more excuses.

  437. Paul – read carefully

where have i said we are finsihed?

you are making it up as you go along, i have already posted we have a great chance to do them if we have diaby and bendy back

go back and read that post from an hour ago… you aint doint too well here

    😆 fucking simple simon

  438. Yep and I will keep making things up. At this point its more about you being a gutless, spineless supporter than it is about Arsenal losing.

You will not win everymatch but one thing that should be consistent is our support. Can we be upset, surely, but does that mean we should blow things out of proportian? No in my view.

    DENILSON!

  439. Denilson – 4 – Fixture passed the young Brazilian by. Not up to the opposition’s level. Fell asleep to commit the cardinal sin of allowing Rooney the space to charge in to the penalty area for his goal and offered no challenge on Nani for the opener.

    A FAIR COMMENT ON DENILSON.

  440. bob – anything to add here?

    or more meaningless ramble?

you are boring fella, get off that fence, you have enough splinters up your peasant arse 😆

later jokers, be back to rip you peasants to shreds again soon

paul.. you go easy sucking bobs’ dick now boy… 😆

  441. F*ck Off Dave…it seems you forgot the “cheater” John Terry crying like a girl when United beat you in the Champions league final? Or when they won the last two premier league trophies and you still finished 2nd with all your written off millions of debt.

Just f*ck off and find out if Terry is nailing one of his teammates wife or girl friend. You’ll always be a Chel$cum.

  442. STRINGFELLOW,DON’T MIND PAUL N…..HE IS A WENGER PET…….HE IS BEGINNING TO SOUND LIKE AMERICANS ,WHO THINKS THEIR COUNTRY IS ALWAYS RIGHT…..AND EVERY OTHER COUNTRY WANTS TO BE LIKE THEM

  443. The problem is many look for scapegoats and dont look at the team on whole.

You say Denilson is not good enough but you dont say AA is not good enough when he misses an easy chance.

Always look to jack up one player after one bad performance without giving credit to a player based on their total contribution to the team

Denilson, Song, Eboue – I have seen all of them get treated like dogs by Arsenal supporters and I am not down with it.

  444. Man U and Chelsea will pay for their spending ways soon enough. And when they do, we’ll all be laughing at them.

  445. “The person who should have tracked back Rooney was the great DM/CM Denilson, ‘the best in the EPL with the best statistics’ he was ball watching for the second goal and his lack of pace once more did him in the third.”

stop talking shit about denilson please.

    your wrong.
clichy was tracking rooney for the second and did not get tight enough to rooney as rooney laid of an easy pass to nani that put us on the back foot and collected the pass of nani. watch rooney turn clichy and out pace him.

use ur eyes not ur hatred to judge

    http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/4620417/

  446. stringfellow, you dont want to be friends with davi, do you?

Ok, yo still have faith in the team, I apologize for that.

  447. clichydoubledeuce

    paul n

you forgot to add diaby’s name to the last paragraph.

you’re right, it’s the same old shite

  448. Nice post Deano.

Was the Airwolf fixation meant to be a bit of a give away Mr.T?

Valencia vs. Sevilla sounds like a good desert.

    Bring on the Chav$.

  449. Arshavin cost us a lot of money — that makes him exempt from criticism for some of our fans.

  450. Thanks for all the compliments stringfellow, you have been a gentleman.

  451. we were very poor today…it was a shocking team display…

my feelings are mixed..im not going to jump all over denilsons back as its not his fault wenger picks him and there were many other players out there today, more senior players, who played poorly also…

but..we dont have many games like these..lets hope this is a one off and we take 6 points from chelsea and pool…the last time we got thumped like this at home we put a decent little run together…

the one thing this may do to the team is give us the extra impetous to play out of our skins at the bridge and show everyone we are not out of this…

would like to see a special signing tonight also…we could do with a pick me up…

  452. Right on cue!

  453. Gunner4Ever,JOHN TERRY CRIED BECAUSE HE IS MR CHELSEA THROUGH AND THROUGH.HE FEELS OUR PAIN….BESIDE,PENALTIES ARE JUST LOTTERIES…IT COULD GO ANYWHERE.

AS FOR UR IMMIGRANT CAPTAIN,HE WANTS TO GO BACK TO SPAIN AND PLAY FOR BARCA…BACK TO THE CLUB HE HAS ALWAYS LOVED.YOUR PLAYERS ARE ALL FOREIGNERS AND MERCENARIES.

GIVE ME A TRUE BLOOD ENGLISH MAN TO CAPTAIN MY SIDE ANYDAY OTHER THAN A DISLOYAL IMMIGRANT.

GIVE ME A TRUE CAPTAIN,WHO CAN DIG DEEP AND SCORE A GOAL DESPITE HIS TRIBULATIONS.I DIDN’T SEE FABREGAS TODAY….BUT JT SCORED AGAINST MANURE AND BURNLEY.

    LASTLY,JT IS NOT A POPE BUT A FOOTBALLER…

  454. Time to go.
    Have fun with the Troll.

  455. PAULN Denilson has gone backwards this season two and a half years ago when Song was with Charlton and then at ACN I supported him here everybody slagged me off Eboue has improved but Denilson and Theo have gone downhill.

  456. JTs a disgrace…just like your second rate ‘london’ team and its criminal owner…tits on the pitch and tits off it…

id be very proud to have a team built on lies and blood money too…

all the money spent and still not won the ‘big one’

now id be gutted if i were a chelksi fan……

  457. clichydoubledeuce

sol, they’ve also both had major injury problems this season (as has clichy). their poor form is no coincidence, mate.

  458. @ John

and then I said the best thing to do when we are 5 points behind is win whether we play utd or even sunderland

No, you did not say that. You said:

“surely you need to win if you are 5 points behind the leaders

points at the end is what matters “

This is what Evilfiek said at 6:11pm.

“I would much rather play Chelsea on Wednesday than to have to wait till Sunday….I want to see us play so badly, right now..”

And at 6:18pm (which I suspect is the comment you were responding to,) he says we have time to pull Chelsea back like we did before. Which is just true.
    How is either comment stupid?

    ***
    @ Stringfellow Hawke

That response is exactly what I expected from you.

  459. Great points Gainsbourg69 on January 31, 2010
    at 6:30 pm.

The mature amongst us will be disappointed and move on. The immature will start throwing their toys out of the pram and look for scapegoats to blame because they cannot handle a little disappointment. It is so predictable. Some of you need to learn to manage your expectations or you will not be long for this world.

  460. The ones called bob and paul N are not worth conversing with, there comments are based on bullshit. They only want to finish fourth

  461. Why wouldn’t Arshavin pass the ball to Nasri or Fab in the final third, twice, both of them were in good position? Would he be more confident passing to a striker in the box, than a midfielder? Instead of having a go himself.

  462. PAUL N Replaying the game and acting calmy I think AA Denison, Clichy cost us the game and not having a real GK doesnt help

  463. Well the Chelsea game is huge now. lose that and it’s goodnight vienna.

  464. Ateeb, my Brother.

    Something gotten to you?

    Off for a Ginsters, Finsbury?

  465. Where do they keep coming from?

  466. Apart from wretched performances from several individuals what was most disappointing was our game management.

To get caught on the break for the second was bad enough but the repeat it early in the second half was lunacy.

I`m not sure if it`s the players or the coaching staff but panic set in again when we conceded the first & the team HAD to make sure they were no more than two down going in to the last 20 minutes.

Vermaelen`s goal was a consolation but had it halved the deficit we would have had a good chance of getting a draw.

  467. Sol, we are talking about the same player.

  468. Amen to that Passenal.

  469. LE ARSE IS A BIG FAILED EXPERIMENT IN LONDON…..IS ANY OF YOUR PLAYERS ABOVE SIX FEET…I BET IF I WAS THE BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD, WENGUS WOULDN’T BUY AME,THEN

I BET WENGUS IS A BIG FAN OF THE SPANISH NATIONAL TEAM,WHERE FABREGAS IS JUST A SUBSTITUTE BY THE WAY.HE WANTS TO COPY THEM

IMAGINE THAT,YOUR CAPTAIN IS JUST A SUBSTITUTE FOR HIS HOME COUNTRY.

  470. Sol, I hear you. Thats why we shouldnt always pinpoint one player. If we get an early goal, the game changes.

Maybe AA is not over his injured foot and we know that Denilson and Clichy just came back.

Arsene said it, “We were poor all over the field”. Thats way I take offense to the singling out of Denilson.

  471. passenal
why is it the usual suspects are always the scapegoats?

watch the game again.. another supporter who don’t know what they’re talking about!!

of course we will move on, life goes on.

  472. Ginsters can taste a little better then Troll.
    Especially when eaten cold.

  473. Disgusting, pathetic. One of the worst displays I’ve ever seen.

I’m talking about the Emirates crowd, of course.

The team performance was disappointing. Denilson’s lack of pace and awareness of Rooney’s run was on the second goal was the turning point for me. There is truth to the criticism that we are one-dimensional, and it allows top teams to soak up the pressure and hit us on the counter-attack.

Despite the above, I think playing Fabregas in the Cup against Stoke was the biggest mistake we made. I actually think Arsene was reacting to his critics when he played Cesc in that game, and his instinct was probably to rest him for the league games ahead. Cesc looked a little flat and two tough away games in the last week look to have taken their toll.

Still, we’re not out of it yet. A respectable draw or even win against Chelsea and we’ll be back in the hunt.

  474. Romny, I am no talking football, i am talking about spinelss Arsenal supporters such as yourself.

We can talk football, but I am defending the Arsenal againt glory hunters like you today.

    ITS ON!

  475. lets hope some supporter in the third world does not hang himself in despair!!!

  476. ARSENAL CAN BE SAID TO BE THE ANDY MURRAY OF LONDON.PLAY WELL WHEN IT DOESN’T MATTER BUT CRUMBLE ON THE BIG STAGE

U GUYS ARE AN EMBARRASSMENT TO LONDON.I THINK YOU SCUM WOULD SOON BE FIGHTING FOR FOURTH PLACE CONSIDERING A RESURGENT LOOSERPOOL,MAN CITY AND ASTON VILLUS

  477. Fergie knows how to play us. He packs the midfield with ugly c*nts, leaves Rooney upfront and just hits us on the break. Why cant we just do the same tactic.

  478. Haha, Bob. Tough one to swallow. The doomer in me, tryna kick out. Don’t worry, time to fight my own demons. The positives is always a good place, to start with. Song, and Nasri, were great. And another game for Rosicky. What is strange is that we tend to lose our established striker, at the very time we are to play a big team. Happened with Chelsea, with RvP. And then we lost Eduardo, who was leading us quite while, just before this game. Rotten luck, we all got.

  479. Oh Dave, just a little bit of wit would do. Your wind ups are so juvenille.

  480. sorry fun gunner 6:09pm

I know what I said I added the utd and sunderland thing to make it easier for you to understand!!

obviously that is isn’t going to work well..

but I agree it is alot harder to explain when I said the wrong time! apologies..

  481. I think Vermaelen and Gallas shouldn’t go up unless one of them stays back. The goal against Everton and MU’s third were almost identical. Gallas and Vermaelen nowhere to be found and our midfielders get caught up trying to disposess the player with the ball only to watch them pass it off to a runner. This must be revised.

  482. .abc,THE WAY LE ARSE KEEP LOSING TO THE BIG BOYS,UR SUPPORTERS IN THE SO CALLED “THIRD WORLD”(WHATEVER THAT MEANS)….MAY BE CONTEMPLATING HANGING THEMSELVES EVERY EVERY WEEK

USELESS STOKE KNOCKED U GUYS OUT OF THE FA CUP…REALLY SAD CLUB

  483. Arsene’s post match comments on Arsenal.com. Seem quite reasonable to me.

on the context of the title race…
It is a massive blow and a massive disappointment. But we have to recover from that, that is part of top-level football.

on a possible lack of belief or commitment…
I believe we had no cohesion defensively or offensively. The players wanted to win, they are really down. This team has spirit, a good attitude mentally, and it is very difficult to say straight away after the game why we were not at all at our level. We were naive.

on whether it means they are not as strong as he thought…
You always have to answer these sorts of questions [after a defeat]. Man United, in the last six away games against a top-four team, they got one point. Today is the first game in seven they won away from home against a top-four team. You could have said before that they were naive but they are not. They were better than us today for two reasons: one, they played well and two, we were not at our level. Why? It is too early to analyse that. I believe there are some mental reasons in there but it is difficult to say.

  484. DG, I do think we need to play different when we play United, they always get us on the break and that cannot just be coincidence. Its better to get a draw with united than to leave all that space at the back. However we are not sure what Arsene told them, maybe the desire to beat United got the best of the players?

  485. PAUL N,I’M NOT HERE TO BE WITTY,SON….I’M TO GET SOME TRUTHS ACROSS…U KOOL AID DRINKER.I BET U GET AN ERECTION WHEN U C WENGER SINCE YOU LOVE HIM SO MUCH…..

ALUMINIUM-THE OWN GOAL HERO IS ANOTHER WEAK LINK IN YOUR TEAM…ANELKA WILL PUNISH HIM NEXT WEEK

  486. In other words you are here to just talk a lot of crap?

Ok, I will not respond to you. Go ahead post till you are contented.

  487. Yogi, should really ban some of these pric** for good. Same old crap, on here.

  488. He’s a reasonable man Passenal. That dressing room must have been a hard place to be tonight.

Get well soon Ateeb. there is much work to be done. the doomers have crept in and thrived in the absence of regular pest control.

    We are The Arsenal.

    Very good Finsbury, very good.

  489. “Fergie knows how to play us. He packs the midfield with ugly c*nts, leaves Rooney upfront and just hits us on the break. Why cant we just do the same tactic.”

I think the difference is that we never set out to stop the opposition playing. We always concentrate on playing our game in the hope that by imposing our game on them we will win. Maybe there is something to be said for taking that approach sometimes?

  490. gainsbourg- there isn’t much difference to ramsey and denilson I suppose, but to me, Ramsey seems more likely to make something happen on the offensive end, he looks more positive. That said, Ramsey is also prone to costly lapses. we really missed diaby, who while also prone to mis-steps, is so much a bigger threat to bust open a defense than denilson.

hopefully this loss can inspire us for next week. We seem to tighten up on the big occasion so getting our teeth knocked might be a good thing, as it was with the chelsea loss and being 1-0 down at anfield.

  491. The whole let itself own. Win and loose as a team.
Arshavin scored 4 goals at Liverpool Ateeb with 4 touches. That’s probably why he didn’t pass. He didn’t have his shooting boots on today. The pass did look simpler though.

  492. I agree with that Passenal.
Against the more skilfull teams we may need to pull our attack back a bit.
Still, Wengers comments sound as if the players just didnt play well enough and not that they had a bad game plan.

  493. A little clarification on my above comment. With RVP or Bendtner up top, we have the option of mixing up a short passing game with a more ‘Villa’ (!) style of passing. Cesc excels in the angled long ball or the one over the top of the defenders. He did it with Adebayor, and can do it with RVP and NB.

Arshavin for all his skill is not a target man that can offer multiple options. We’re still dangerous with him, but you still get the sense the defence can play a higher line than they would be able to with RVP.

  494. I agree with Ateeb.

Why tolerate these haters and rubbish?

We’re still dangerous with him, but you still get the sense the opposition defence can play a higher line that they wouldn’t be able to do with RVP in the team.

  496. Paul N, I’m of the opinion that they thrive on attention so I don’t even read their posts, never mind about respond to them. I believe in this team and I don’t mind having a discussion with reasonable people who can express their disappointment without personalising to one or two individuals. But out and out trolls and D&G merchants who never have anything positive to say, I have no time for. This life is too short and there has got to be more to it than that!

  497. People, DNFTT. Please? It’s so boring.

    @ John
Ok. We’re getting somewhere and I understand what you MEANT to say. But you still don’t explain what is stupid about saying we have time to overhaul Chelsea?

    @G69
Yeah. I winced when I heard the commentator listing all the players who had gone into the box for the second(?) goal. I thought, who’s covering the breakaway? I’m hoping that this will be a turning point, like in the game when Arsene threw his jacket down because Diaby was too far upfield at the wrong time. Let’s hope this game has a similarly galvanising effect on the whole squad.

    @ Passenal
Interesting comments from Arsene there. He seems to be saying that there could be an element of over-eagerness there, which might explain the excessively gung-ho approach?

  498. You are right Passenal, its really is a waste of time. The same tired arguements, time and time again.
We were poor today, plain and simple.
Lets take it out on Chelsea.

    Proud to be a gooner!!

  499. Dave,

Better get moving. Your best mates just taking your missus down the vets for an abortion.

  500. i hate and the kis is very long,

    richard keys
    andy grey
    jamie redknapp and his dad
    jason cunty
    chris waddle
    tony gale
    david platt
    ian wright
    alan brazil
    adrian durham
    terry venables
    rob beasley

  501. and the list not kis

  502. why the moderation yogi?

  503. FG, I think that was the problem, being gung ho. We were so anxious to beat United, emotions got in the way, it seems. After the sickening loss at OT, I can see how one would want to get even.

We will learn and get it dont this weekend.

  504. Denilson. A poor team’s midfielder. Can’t believe such crap play for a great team like Arsenal.

No local boy in the team. All foreigners with no desire to win. Can you imagine a foreign XI winning the English league. Can’t happen here.

  505. “done” that is.

  506. FG, you might be right about the ‘gung-ho approach’. I cannot believe they got caught on that breakaway goal again after the Everton game. Even goal scoring centre backs have to remember their first job is to defend.

  507. @ lagooner
    good posts.
Thank goodness, Bendtner is back, and Diaby will be next week. More tactical options for Arsene.

    @ Passenal, DG, Paul N
That does sound right – about changing up tactically a bit for United – after all, other teams change their tactics to play us!

It really is all about how well we react. And so far this season, we have responded well to bad defeats. We’ll do so again.

I’m off to drown my sorrows/eat cake.

  508. So how come the Invincibles consistend of mostly foreigners?

  509. Passenal.

Yep but isnt it about beating your opponant, fuck it a cant spel now im too pised. But yep surely against the bigger teams we need to change tact and stop teams playing, didnt we do it in our CL run!! Wenger got his tactics wrong today, we try be too playerish againt them mancs they just hit us on the counter. wouldnt you like to see ascrappy win against them mancs.

  510. Bodad ,U ARE RIGHT ON POINT….ALL IMMIGRANTS NOT WILLING TO BLEED RED OR EVEN CRY FOR THE TEAM…MAYBE THAT’S WHY SOME LE ARSE FANS MOCK JOHN TERRY FOR CRYING AFTER THE FINAL……

MOST OF YOU GUYS,DON’T EVEN FEEL THE CLUB.FANS DESERTED THE STADIUM TODAY AFTER 60 MINUTES…REALLY SAD.NOT ONE ENGLISHMAN IN THE STARTING LINE UP.

    PAUL N,THREE WORDS…..MEN AGAINST BOYS
….IT SEEMS WENGUS BOYS NEVER SEEM TO GROW ANYWAY…THEY KEEP LEARNING THE GAME EVERY YEAR

  511. DukeG, despite your spelling I get your point and I agree that I’d be happy to see us scrap for a point against the mancs and save our best for the lesser lights. Who cares if we are accused of being flat track bullies if we get the job done?

“I’m off to drown my sorrows/eat cake.”

I’ve caved in and turned to the Chianti! I’ll be typing like Duke in a little while!

  512. A bad result but overall were we THAT bad to lose 3-1? I think it flattered them a lot. We defended poorly when it mattered and were not patient enough having gone a goal down. Utd had three shots on target and scored three goals.

There really is a problem with our fans getting on the backs of certain players game after game, its counterproductive and makes us look really fickle and poor losers.

We are sitting third in the table and only 5 points off the top. Its not the end of the world.

i also thought we didnt pay man poo any respect. we should have been slightly more cautious esp in the first 30 mins

  514. I HEAR LE ARSE FANS ARE ASKING FOR THEIR TICKET MONEY BACK

IT SEEMS THE AWAY END WILL BE EMPTY NEXT WEEK AT THE ALMIGHTY BRIDGE..LOL

  515. Denilson can’t attack, can’t defend and can’t track runners. Now what at all he’s doing in our club playing week-in week-out? Is he Arsene’s lost love child?

  516. True dat, lets scrap a point or three when we play the bigger sides, wait for our chances. I also have no doubt that our class will always come through even if we are a little more defensive minded.

Anyway, it hurts bad but its still one match. Lets go, we have a PL Title to win damn it.

  517. fun gunner

he said that we finished 4th but beat utd and chelsea last season..

like that was some reasonable argument that losing games doesn’t matter because of what happened in a previous season.

We still can win the league but we will need to win next week otherwise the gap will be 11 with 14 games left this would be too big. IMO

regardless of what happened the last time we played them. football is not a simaltanious pattern

we miss van persie so we could use a new top quality striker.

a new goalie in the summer aswell..

  518. wat a fucking shit week this has been

  519. are you still around dave.

  520. LE PROFESSEUR WENGUS HAS NOT LEARNT THE CRUCIAL LESSON OF HAVING A STRONG MIDFIELD

EVEN OUR RESERVE MIDFIELD CAN BEAT YOUR USELESS MIDFIELD WITH OUR STARS LIKE MALOUDA,MIKEL,MATIC,KAKUTA,KALOU,DECO AND JOE COLE

I HEAR YOU GUYS HAVING BEEN DROOLING FOR KALOU…SORRY ,U CAN’T HAVE HIM…LOL

IF HE WAS A LE ARSE PLAYER,HE WOULD HAVE BEEN A FIRST TEAMER…BY THE WAY

  521. Went to the game today that was a complete discrace,no excuses not good enough outplayed by an average utd team.

  522. hie zap you moron

  523. It’s been a very disappointing day some would completely write us off after this display but I believe we still have a hope and that hope is to beat Chelsea and keep the gap to 2 points, assuming they will win their game in hand it will be 5 points and as we know 5 points could disappear in a matter of 3 games, 2 draw and one loss for Chelsea and that is not impossible. But we have to put a winning run together starting against Chelsea anything other than win will not do.Lets hope.

  524. LE ARSE FANS NORMALLY CHANGE INTO FANCY DRESSES AT HALF TIME IN THE BIG GAMES:YOU GUYS CHANGE INTO PLASTIC RED SEATS.

  525. How old is his Dave bloke on here?

  526. well the chelsae game out of the four is the hardest but i wouldnt put it past us to get the win in that game. hopefully wenger will whipp denilson so hard he will still be running around like a madman when we play chelsea.

  527. http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/4620417/

its clear as day for all you denilson haters. Clichy was marking rooney on our corner, he allowed rooney to collect the ball in their half and feed nani easy, out paced clichy for the return (longest one-two of the season) and passed it into the net. maybe denilson might have challenged on the edge of the box but that was clichys man. watch it and see for yourself.

Stop hating for the sake of hating at least speak the facts!!

  529. id say in his late thirties but he is a typical chelsea fan with a low IQ

  530. dave where were you when chelsea lost last time at bridge to arsenal and ultimately the title race and fuck me how many players has your great club produced( not bought) and fuck me even harder how many trophies has your great club won

  531. its clear as day for all you denilson haters.

  532. Dukegonnem Denilson probably won’t play that game if diaby does..

Come on this is what it’s all about being an Arsenal fan, its times like these that seperate the real fans from the untrue ones..

  533. Didn’t realise he is a Chav fan,is that why he types in uppur case because he has a big mouth?

  534. is zap on le groan ( well it is turning out to be a lesser sort of le groan over here)

  535. its clear as day for all you denilson haters. 536. im not in the mood for ur shit abc

  537. My impression was that today’s game passed Denilson by, so it was fascinating to examine the statistics and find that he had done at least as well as the other midfielders on both sides. Those who blame him for today’s defeat are right to some extent: we are so accustomed to him doing the job of two men that we struggle when he does the job of only one.

  538. nobody is u big donut.

    dave-

    Arsenal trophies-39
    Chelsea trophies-19

shall i count for you? That’s 20 more silver things for us

  539. 3rd goal was a disgrace- where the hell were the defence? I mean it’s not like we just had consecutive bombardments on their goal, we just feebly lost the ball and suddenly it was 5 on 1

  540. oh come on zap remember the fourth wall and always
    dare to believe

  541. zap its just not the third goal they missed two sitters on counters as well

  542. ABC…..U GUYS WON IN THE BRIDGE BASED ON SOME STUPID OFFSIDE GOALS AND OUR DISALLOWED GOALS….JUST POOR REFEREE DECISIONS.

I’M HAPPY YOU GUYS ARE THIS CONFIDENT OF BEATING US…WELL,IT GIVES ME SOMETHING TO LAUGH ABOUT NEXT WEEK

THE SAME LE ARSE FANS THAT WERE SO CONFIDENT OF BEATING MANURE.WELL,I WOULD LOVE TO SMOKE WHAT U GUYS ARE SMOKING….

THE PHRASE “ALTERNATE REALITY” MUST HAVE BEEN INVENTED FOR LE ARSE FANS……

WENGUS MUST BE THE BEST MANAGER IN THE WORLD THEN AND
ARSENIL IS ON TOP OF THE TABLE
ALUMINIUM IS ALSO THE BEST GOALKEEPER IN THE WORLD
AND YOU GUYS WILL BEAT CHELSEA BY 5 GOALS AT THE BRIDGE.

    CAN YOU SPELL THE WORD……D-E-L-U-S-I-O-N

  543. dave delusion is a word that can be understood fully wholly and completely only by chelsea fans. you lot are plenipotentiary of delusion.

  544. zap,my best friend….where u been.Still living on past glory, are we.GET A NEW TALKING POINT, SON….THAT ONE UR USING IS OLD NOW….BLACKBURN,WOLVES AND LEEDS UNITED ALL HAVE TITLES TO THEIR NAME…

    MEN AGAINST BOYS AGAIN TODAY,SON

  545. DAVE – John Terry cried for John Terry, that’s why we mock him.

He probably thought it would hit his “stadium tour” earnings.

He’s a man so delusionally self-important that he can’t keeps his hands of his team mates wife.

He bleeds Chelsea blue unless of course its pay review time, when the blue turns somewhat lighter for a time….

  546. dave chelsea is the embodiment of all the anti-football that exist in this world..

  547. dave did you join in the booing of your team when you were drawing 1-1 with burnley, obviously from behind the computer screen .

  548. who won the cup of nations?

  549. The game stats only tell part of the story. These games turn on crucuial moments, and as much as I like Denilson, this is the second time he has been left wanting for pace on a counter-attack except this time he allowed Rooney to surge past him when Rooney started his run well behind him.

I think Denilson is still a great prospect, but in this team in a key fixture, he was shown up at a critical point.

  550. Can’t even understand what Denilson bring to the team. I fell for Ramsey, Merida and now Eastmond to see a player who’s crap playing ahead of them.

  551. lagooner, bodad you guys see denilson at fault for todays loss???

  552. Just back from the game btw.

Don’t really feel like a post mortem sometimes you just have to say the better team won. More of their players played to their potential than ours did.

If an Arsenal player did what Nani did, we’d been waxing lyrical. I’d have taken 7 points out of 12 at the start of this run, i still will.

  553. One more thing. The most disappointing part of the defeat was that the opposition looked very vulnerable. A back four without Ferdinand and Vidic, and habitual underperformers like Carrick and Nani should have presented us with the perfect opportunity to grab victory.

Maybe we saw the teamsheet and thought we could take more risks than we actually were able to get away with.

  554. Denilson had his quietest game in a long time, yet he won as many tackles in an hour as Fletcher managed in 90 minutes. In the same hour, he made 34 successful passes. Extrapolating that over 90 minutes, he would have made only 2 successful passes less than the great Carrick, and with a lower percentage of failure. He also found time to make as many interceptions as any man utd player.

  555. Dave

Your Chelsea is a cup team now. The last time you won the title was 2006 so its also history. You won the title after 50 years and 1 billion investment with stolen Russian money. Nothing special. You’ll return to self very soon when you follow FIFA requirements to spend only what you earn. In fact, you’ve already began, winning cups here and there but being denied the title of late despite spending every year with Russian stolen money.

  556. If we beat the Chavs we can turn it around. we can still do it.
I thought we needed a cool head after the 1st goal and slowly get them out of their positions and keep it tight at the back . We wanted to respond very quickly and went for it and left ourselves exposed, the 2 goals they scored on the counter were a copy of the goals they scored in CL semi final. Fergie employed the same tactics and worked for him again. We need a different approach in thees type of games . Against Manure you have to play a cat and mouse game and be patient, But I believe we are still holding on at the moment we will see how we do against the the Chavs. A win would be Marvellous not easy I know but we can beat them no doubt about that.

  557. Once again, Denilson was to blame for the crucial second goal. That’s just a fact, and it doesn’t even show up on the stats.

I believe Denilson still has a good future at Arsenal, but it says something that Arsene kept on a tired Song and took Denilson off, the opposite of what happened last season.

  558. yet utd won 3-1 polly

stats are important when they matter, fletcher and didn’t mess up for 2 goals.

  559. Why are people suggesting that Denilson was outpaced by Rooney?

It wasn’t pace in that moment. It was awareness. He lost Rooney for a second and that was enough.

  560. fletcher and carrick

  561. CLICHY LOOKED USELESS WITHOUT HIS PACE…THE INJURY HAS DONE HIM MUCH HARM…

THE DEMOLITION JOB TODAY IS JUST A CARBON COPY OF WHAT MANURE DID TO YOU GUYS IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE LAST SEASON WITH NANI PLAYING THE RONALDO ROLE.

WENGUS MUST BE THE LAZIEST MANAGER IN THE EPL…MAYBE HE WAS SLEEPING LAST YEAR….DOING SAME THING AND EXPECTING A DIFFERENT RESULT IS THE DEFINITION OF MADNESS…WENGUS IS SENILE……FERGUSON JUST KEEPS OUT-FOXING U R WENGUS

AND TO IMAGINE THAT WENGUS BELIEVES YOUR ARE A CLASS APART COMPARED TO LAST YEAR

    CAN ANYBODY SPELL THE WORD
    D-E-L-U-S-I-O-N.

  562. Denilson has always been crap. Some of us have been saying that for years and months but Poliziano and co defend him by pulling statistics.

His statistics makes him great nothing else but on the field of play, the boy hasn’t got what it takes to be an Arsenal regular. He’s really a waste of space, can’t attack, can’t defend and can’t track runners. We don’t need his type of players here, we’re a serious club.

  563. Denilson gave the ball away 80% of the time form clearances.

    According to the stats.

But, lets gloss over this fact, and wax lyrical about his 34 successful passes over 3 yards.

What a talent, wenger must be mad?

Was he not watching the same game as us? Why else take him off and leave on Song? Clearyl Denilson is as good a DM!!

  564. Pleasing to hear your good words Pz..

The Devil’s rejoice as the Angels cry..

  565. KAMAAAN YOU GUNNERS!!!

  566. Denilson was not at fault for the loss .abc.

The first goal was mainly down to brilliant play from Nani. The second could likely have been prevented by Denilson if he had tracked Rooney’s run. The third goal we were all at sea as we pushed forward and Clichy was essentially 1 vs 3.

Arshavin may have been forcing things a little too much. Cesc was flat after tough away games. Almunia is lacking in confidence etc, so it’s certainly not all down to Denilson.

The team lost and United were better today. I still think we can grab at least 2nd place.

  567. why don’t u shut up hawke fucking moron

  568. 😆 Zap, its the intelligent ones like you that make this forum what it is.

Give us some more pearlers from your repatoire

  569. Something reminded me – so just popped back to say that this was the part I agreed with in lagooner’s first post:

I think playing Fabregas in the Cup against Stoke was the biggest mistake we made. I actually think Arsene was reacting to his critics when he played Cesc in that game, and his instinct was probably to rest him for the league games ahead. Cesc looked a little flat and two tough away games in the last week look to have taken their toll.

I think that is at least part of the reason he was played and he has looked tired since. Can’t comment on the other parts yet.

    **

Passenal, I’m on a Chilean Merlot.

  570. QOS-I agree with you 100%. He got outpaced by Nani and showed a lack of awareness with Rooney. He also got outpaced against Stoke, so it is definitely a weakness opponents can exploit, regardless of his other obvious strengths (interceptions etc)

  571. So be it, Peter. Song failed 67% of the time, Nani and Carrick 100% of the time. What is more important is that only one of our players (Vermaelen) attempted more clearances.

  572. what bothers me most is the morons saying ‘Denilson’s crap’. He’s not, and any self-respecting Arsenal fan wouldn’t be so extreme in their evaluation of his talents.

  573. i bet you think you’re above us don’t you hawke. you donut.

  574. DAVE IS A KNOB

  575. If Dave had any brains, he would realize that most of us are just skipping any posts that are written in all caps.

  576. I don’t see Denilson’s talent to warrant a trip to Brazil for him plus 3.5+. A lot of young midfield players in England are better than him. To to travel all the way to Brazil for such a player meant he was special and from what I’ve seen since he came, special he’s not.

  577. HE SUPPORTS THE CHAVS THEREFORE HE HAS NO BRAIN!

  578. Nani and Carricks 100% failures did not lead to the oppostion scoring, thats the difference.

Denilson is a player, i was at the Carling Cup game 3/4 years ago when he was almost god like in midfield, he seemed quicker, more agile and very quick of mind in making good attacking passes, 34 passes that achieve nothing is not good enough for Arsenal, he has always had an ability to strike a ball with gusto.

Since that back injury last season, he has not been the same, nowhere near.

Now, we can all slap each others backs and pretend he is Platini or admit he is just not at his game just yet.

It’s not always negative to highlight the reality.

Delusion is an illness, as is selective blindness.

  579. How do you expect him to play amazingly when he’s got the crowd on his back?

  580. i think had arshavin passed instead of shoot the goals were their for taking

  581. I don’t think they were today.

The whole team was getting the moans and groans.

  582. Arshavin has been trying that cut inside then curl into the bottom far corner for the last few games, lets hope his radar is on at the bridge next week.

  583. stringfella your thoughts on arshavin?

  584. ZAP,STOP SWEARING AT UR FELLOW GUUUUNER.

I THOUGHT LE ARSE FANS WERE CLASSY …OH SORRY,I FORGOT THE PLASTIC CAMERA THROWN AT LAMPARD…AND THE FA DID NOTHING…

    STAY CLASSY,ZAP

  585. Great player, has clearly shown his greatness many times, he has won games for us single handedly.

He was not at it today on the shooting front, but he did well to get into good positions and ran convinclgy at brown and co a few times.

  586. ZAP, MUST BE A BRATTY TEENAGER THAT LIVES IN PECKHAM….

  587. Was gutted when Gibbs broke his foot, he would have been our first choice left back by now and well on the plane for S Africa in the summer.

Best left back at the club… clichy is a fine player, but lacks concentration when defending.. made some wonderful runs today, but final ball has always been poor.

  588. I see you are back

  589. i think the goal were their for taking simply ….

a good player has to shoot when he is in the best position to shoot else he has to pass to the player who is in better position…. if you shoot ignoring rest of your eam you are called a selfish player…..and that selfishness is stupidity untill your team has a 2 goal margin

also why does almunia constantly launches the ball into the middle?

  590. Well, then, Peter, maybe Denilson should not have attempted any clearances, like Arshavin, Bendtner, Eboue, Fabregas, Rosicky, Walcott, Berbatov, Giggs, Rooney, and Scholes. If a player attempts a clearance and fails, he is to be blamed; but if he does nothing, he is exonerated. The rule from Peter Stringfellow’s school of coaching is never to clear the ball for fear of failure.

  591. No Polz.

The rule when clearing a ball is to get it out of danger.

Only one player on the pitch today cleared a ball that cost the other side a goal.

That same player was halued off by Wenger.

Keep up, this is too easy otherwise.

  592. LE ARSE FANS,MAYBE WE COULD LOAN DROGBA TO YOU GUYS FOR NEXT WEEK COS ANELKA ALONE CAN DO THE JOB ON YOUR USELESS DEFENCE AND OWN GOAL HERO,ALUMINIUM.

AND WENGUS KEEP REMINDING EVERYBODY THAT HE PASSED UP THE OPPORTUNITY TO SIGN RONALDO AND DROGBA

  593. usually arshavin does nothing and scores. today was the exact opposite he did everything, worked incredibly hard and couldnt get a shot on target

  594. you also need to use this

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/chalkboards/create

check some stats on clearances today from all the players YOU mention, and then correct yourself

    😆 schoolboy stuff

  595. if AA didnt was selfish, then isnt he as much to blame? but people always look for the easy target.

Such is life with some of these Arsenal “supporters. look for the percieved weak and jump em.

  596. oops, “if AA was selfish”

  597. can’t fault AA for not letting the misses force his head down, he never shyed away from the ball, made himself available and kept going for the full 90.

he will no doubt have a blinder against the scousers next home game

more than likely bang in a double hat trick 😆

  598. I don’t know what halued means. If you are referring to the substitution, it happened for two reasons: first, we needed three goals, so it was necessary to make the balance of the team more attacking; second, Denilson was evidently tired throughout the game, as is proved by some players on the pitch having comparable statistics to his.

  599. Ahh, the good old picking up on a typo!!

Always a good un when in strife 😆

  600. I wish this is Denilson’s last game for us as his height, pace, ball distribution, tackling and strength don’t make him suitable for the EPL.

  601. Winning is two fold, not letting in goals and defending goals. If AA did things that cost us goals, he is as much to blame.

I am not blaming him, it was a poor performance on a whole, I am talking about equity here. Lets be fair or dont point out anyone, either or.

  602. oops again “and scoring goals”.

    I need to slow down!

  603. No one individual is totally culpable today, as wenger put it , there were many massive individual errors.

Almunia looks exhausted, he always looks like he has not slept in days.

  604. stringfella
“can’t fault AA for not letting the misses force his head down, he never shyed away from the ball, made himself available and kept going for the full 90.”

in other words he kept trying

what else is he paid for? and more than that it comes from experience……

  605. Well, why the Denilson bashing? The whole team was naive, thats true.

Hopefully we learn to wait for our chances and sit back a little. We went wrong tactically for whatever reason.

  606. What strife am I in, Peter? You’ve taken a complete battering. All your arguments have been destroyed, so you have resorted to including smiley faces with queer flickering smiles. I assure you they have no argumentative value whatever.

  607. at the end of the day they scored 3 goals, we scored 1. we can keep our heads up, it’s not like the chelsea game last november. I can’t wait for sunday. Let’s hope hull pull off a surprise, but there’s as much of a chance of hull winning as stringfellow hawke finding a brain.

  608. What denilson bashing, i was making honest opinions on his game.

Some just canot accept that and want us all to come on praising the players all the time.

    That is not reality.

  609. Stringfellow

Yes, I’ve noticed the ‘resort to typo’ strategy too.

The point is that there’s plenty of blame to go round, and I’m sure all the players are fully aware of their own role in the defeat. However, just like Almunia was to blame for a clearance that didn’t lead to a goal, Denilson had the misfortune for Rooney to slide the ball in when he failed to track his run.

It doesn’t make him a bad player, but it’s also silly for others to bury their heads in stats and avoid the obvious just to be contrarian.

  610. Stringfellow Hawke-you said Arshavin “will have a blinder against the scousers” what made you skip the chavs game or is he not good enough to have a blinder in that one ? or are you simply a defeatist with no hope.

  611. Battering?

    lol, good one pol

check the stats yet on chalkboard?

at least get the facts right before trying to come with stats.

    joey.

  612. lol, what a bunch

1 loose, it was tongue in cheek

have you noticed he does well against pool? lol

hence the even more tongue in cheek “double hat trick”

what is up with you lot? this is too easy, are you are doped up?

  613. He has been the scapegoat. You seem to think he is not good enough for Arsenal but the guy is a very good player and will get better.

  614. Peter,
I got my statistics from the Guardian Chalkboard. It is conceivable that I have made a trivial mistake, but nothing sufficient to save even the least of your arguments, however brave a face you try to put on.

  615. People only seem to dis certain players and`Its a load of bull. When the favorites dont play up to par, nothing is said.

  616. Saying “this is too easy” does nothing to change the fact that all your arguments have collapsed as quickly as Vanessa Perroncel’s virtue.

  617. WENGUS SEEM TO ENJOY AN UNHEALTHY LOVE FOR SHORT,LITTLE BOYS.I THINK WENGUS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR HIS AFFINITY TO HEIGHT CHALLENGED FOREIGNERS.

BESIDES,HOW COME LE ARSE PLAYERS WERE PUMPING THE BALL INTO THE MANURE BOX WHEN EVERY LE ARSE PLAYER IS 4 FEET 2 INCHES

  618. Pol, every player…. EVERY player you mentioned on that list of players who made clearances today

had a better record than denilson

the worst was evra, 50% success rate ( den was 20% today )

    next….

  619. no pol, what collapsed was your made up stats.

do some research or dont bother.

    liars are easily uncovered.

  620. You all Wenger’s arselickers, you still want that fucking retard to manage us for the next ten years?

  621. DAVE

YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME AND ENERGY. THE MOMENT ANY FANS SEE A POST IN ALL CAPS THEY ARE SKIPPING IT! DON”T YOU REALIZE THAT, CHAV? OF COURSE YOU DON’T.

  622. truegoon – go to le moan, they will take you in.

  623. Can you tell me which of my posts mentioned Evra?

  624. polizi whats the whole point of playing pretty football ( ie so called ) if you cant win against big teams. since the advent of 2009 arsenal hasnt won against chelsea, manutd . in 8 games arsenal has only 1 draw (0-0at OT which manutd just needed to draw for winning the title ), during that course arsenal has been annihilated 4 times ( conceded 3 goals or more ), arsenal has lost away , home neutral , in league , in league cup , in CL semifinal ,with or without van persie , vermaelan , adebayor , arshavin . this tells you that somethins is wrong at the very core ….

  625. did i say you mentioned evra?

  626. truegooner, you must be a miserable, unhappy person. geez!

  627. hawke nobody bloody cares about stats ok? u want to prove u know more about football than poliziano you arent ok so shut it

can’t believe gallas missed that sitter, we could’ve come made it 3-2 and with 8 mins left including injury time. we had enough chances after vermaelen’s goal to win 4-3.

  628. Vanessa Perroncel’s “virtue”.

In an attempt to be witty, looks like you revealed yourself to be pretty sexist there. Might want to get out of the dark ages.

  629. do you all just suck each others cocks on here?

    shameful behaviour

poli knows fuck all, he makes it up as he goes along, as evidenced.

he keeps lemons like you hanging on his very last lies

    are you all in puberty?

  630. stats are like a bikini. they reveal almost everything but hides whats most important.

  631. He’s not that great to warrant a trip to Brazil to bring him here. He’s just an ordinary player with his types all over here.

I personally think he’s not reached the level to be a regular Arsenal player. The question is, if Denilson were to be a player for Everton, Fulham, Blackburn or Bolton with all these so called great stats. will we crave for him?

  632. Where is the list of players who made clearances? I can’t remember it. Song attempted 3 clearances, and 2 were unsuccessful. His success rate was 33%. Carrick attempted 2, and both failed. His success rate was 0%. Nani attempted 1, and it failed. His success rate was 0%.

  633. Stringfellow:

Not everyone on here, but he does have a handful of groupies, to be fair.

  634. so, a striker who scoreds 50 goals according to his stats… could be a worse player than one in the same league, who score 2 goals?

    is that correct ladies?

stats are not the be all and end all, granted, but certain poignant stats account for a lot.

  635. ooh, look another typo

    get stuck in poliz

    have a field day son.

  636. hawke u donut. you know nothing.

poliziano u seem to be on one of ur rants, to be honest does clearance percentages actually matter?

  637. donut? is that honestly the only line you have?

send me your email addy.. i will mail you some more 😆

  638. Denilson is unfashionable and didn’t cost £15m so he is an easy target. Others are allowed to stroll about and score the occasional goal and they are given a free pass. Either criticize equally, or better still support equally. All players have off days, especially if they have had an injury ravaged season or are carrying an injury. We lose as a team and we win as a team so singling out one player in either case is futile.

  639. give me your address and i will mail you some jam “dougnuts” aswell 😉

  640. What typo are you talking about, Peter? I didn’t mention any typos.

  641. I would challenge anyone who attended the game this afternoon to say that Denilson had a good game, or is currently showing any kind of form.

Of course you cannot blame a single player for a poor team performance like that, but he was a passenger today, and that is being polite.

  642. i see that one flew right over your nut, poliz

tut tut tut, the groupies wont allow you to be spanked around like this

    come on, pull yourself together.

  643. what is your problem with sexual references, are you gay are you a freak or something?

If you disagree, state your arguement but the constant references to oral sex is not becoming.

  644. Matt, these joeys only watch on streams.

Let them get a job and get some cash to get to a game first.

  645. When did Denislon come back from injury?

  646. sexual references from someone called Stringfellow? Whatever next!

  647. stringfella
l , we havnt won againt chelsea and manutd since 2009 and by the look of it we have a greater probability of getting pummeled rather than securing a draw..
    your comments on this phenomena?

  648. I think if we have diaby and bendtner starting next week, chelski will have a bloody good game on their hands.

  649. an own goal and dive had something to do with it, one match atleast.

  650. Denilson came back from injury very recently. Because he is a key player for us, he has been in the team whenever possible since then. A couple of his performances have been excellent; a couple have only been as good as the other midfielders on the pitch with him. Since so much is expected of him, he naturally attracts criticism when his standard drops, even though objectively speaking he has been adequate.

  651. i look forward to seeing denilson playing for brazil this summer

if lucas leiva is picked, surely the magical denilson in current form should be?

amazed he has never made a squad

  652. U GUYS NEED TO WATCH MATCH OF THE DAY……I HOPE CLICHY PLAYS AGAINST US…HE’S RUBBISH.AND YOU GUYS KEEP SOUNDING OFF ON DENILSON…CLICHY COULD HAVE PREVENTED ALL THREE GOALS WITH GOOD POSITIONING AND SWIFT LEGS

LE ARSE FANS ,DON’T KNOW FOOTY….NO WONDER THEY SUPPORT LE WENGUS

  653. paul own goal has to do with 3 matches almunias howlers also did 3 matches

  654. .abc, it seems like we make silly mistakes. Against Chelsea we were defensively naive, likewise today and yes Almunia is not having his best year.

We lack a bit of focus it seems, hopefully we can get that sorted because as far as talent we are amazing.

  655. The disappointing thing about Denilson is that he really is exceptional at knowing where the ball will turn up. That’s why he’s been involved in 3 or 4 goals we’ve conceded since the Everton game. He shows up, but then doesn ‘t do what he has to do to stop a goal. Not tracking them man today was really really naive. And his miscontrol for the 3rd goal was a schoolboy error.

  656. “poliziano u seem to be on one of ur rants, to be honest does clearance percentages actually matter?”

Not really. I just took a fancy to annihilating his arguments, and I take it I have done that to everyone’s satisfaction. I won’t be reading any more of Peter’s comments after this.

  657. “Of course you cannot blame a single player for a poor team performance like that, but he was a passenger today, and that is being polite.”

Your argument would carry more weight Matt if you ever criticized AA who has been a passenger for most of the season.

Denilson had a serious back injury and has already spent 2 months of this season on the sidelines. He returned and suffered another injury against Everton and it’s possible he is still carrying the effects of whatever happened there.

  658. yeah right, go get your shoe shine box 😆

    i make that about 3-0

  659. Denilson does not hide. His strongest point. If he did, many times, others would get the blame for things he gets slated for.

  660. dave

we know clichy had a mare, the only reason they show clichy’s bad moments is to make nani look even more the hero of the day.

denilson was as bad and almunia looks like he has given up on life not that he is a good goalie anyway…

now fuck off you chav, been supporting cunt fc for 5 minutes you inbred mug

  661. We keep making excuses for these boys. It’s ok to admit it when they let us down.

You can do that without going to the other extreme and rubbishing them.

  662. ole I totally disagree re watch the 3rd goal after he loses the ball.

look at his positioning, none of you have an argument today..

he had a bad, bad game!!

  663. Yes, good points Passenal and OG @ 10:34pm

The Merlot hasn’t really kicked in yet, Passenal. Has the Chianti?

    ***
“Matt, these joeys only watch on streams.”

So you were there today, were you, SH?

  664. John,

What was wrong with his positioning on the 3rd goal?

  665. he was lucky he did not score an OG aswell in the first half

awful attempted clearance from a corner that was going in but clichy was on the line.

  666. no fungunner, i gave my season ticket to my brother in law last september

i am unable to make games due to my work commitments

at least until my current contract expires in march.

  667. what is this constant need to make excuses for denilson are some of you women on here? and is denilson fit? because I can’t work out why he has a god like status with some of you…

  668. haha Bob, just spotted my earlier typo. There’s only won patsie I smelt today.

    ‘Attack of the NoJNoJ.’

    Part II

    The Return of the (Jock)Sling.

    Seviila 2-0 Valencia

  669. Lets forget the Denilson bashing, taught we were tactically naive as usual in these big games. They let us play and simply hit on a break. I dont think i saw Brown and Evans or Thier full backs push forward. Just thinking, wouldn’t it be better if Gallas and Vaminator did thier jobs of defending rather than bombing forward at the slightest. We are letting in too many goals on the counter and its not just good enough.

  670. “We keep making excuses for these boys. It’s ok to admit it when they let us down.”

Again, where is your criticism of the popular members of the team? Where is your criticism of the £15m man?

  671. ole g

ok just looked at it and it wasn’t his positioning as such but more a lack of concentration and determination…..

he miss controlled the ball then he made no real attempt to get back fast enough and was one of the last players chasing back.

and obviously the awareness for the second goal

  672. “what is this constant need to make excuses for denilson are some of you women on here? and is denilson fit?”

Perhaps that’s where you go wrong, John. It’s permissible to support a player without wanting to go to bed with him.

  673. @paul from 2008 onwards ( 2 years ) lets look at our records against decent teams ( excluding carling cup of course) . 7 teams being manutd, chelsea, city, everton, villa, liverpool,sp*ds

    played-38
    won- 10
    drawn- 13
    lost-15

    that again tells you something

  674. He simply wasn’t aware of what was going on behind him. He was effectively the last man.

But while he fucked up, whoever passed to him was equally to blame since Denilson was surrounded by 3 Man U players.

Honestly, we have a problem attacking corners. Remember the game against Villa where Rosicky and Ramsey played 1-2s and gave the ball away to start a Villa counterattack.

We concede goals from innocuous positions. Blame Denilson all you like (and he did not cover himsefl in glory) but it’s a team problem.

  675. passenal

how greedy was arshavin today when he could of put in nasri twice.

we can definitly pick out big players bad moments, the whole team were bad.

    but individual errors cost us!!!

so almunia, clichy and denilson deserve they’re criticism today…

  676. I think we know what Denilson is capable of – after last season and the first few weeks of this one, when he did a great job for us. It’s true that he hasn’t got the credit he deserves, a bit like Song and Diaby, and that makes people around here root for him even more.

It’s been a tough couple of weeks for him, but he’s trying to find a rhythm after a lengthy injury, along with Clichy, Walcott and Bendtner. We all know how good they can be, but they’re going to need matches to get up to speed. They’re entitled to a bit of leeway until then, and other players need to pick up the slack in the meantime. Rosicky, Nasri and Song all looked decent today, which bodes well for Chelsea.

The way I see it, we’re going to be completely written off before the Chelsea game, and that’s going to make us very determined to prove a point.

  677. .abc,

Yes .abc, it tells us that we are not top 3 in europe ?

    What is your point ?

We got to the champions league semi finals, the semi finals of the FA Cup and finish 4th last year.

This year, we are out of the FA Cup, but 3rd in the table, and still in the champions league.

We are better than City, Everton, Villa, Liverpool and the Sp*ds.

We not currently better than the top 3 teams in Europe – Chelsea, Man U and Barcelona.

So again, what is your point ?

Take your time, think about your answer.

  678. @ Stringfellow Hawke
i am unable to make games due to my work commitments

So does that make you a joey, too?

    @ John
Speaking for myself, it doesn’t matter which player it is. If any one player is coming in for over-the-top criticism, I would defend him. It is possible to say what someone has done wrong without ripping him to bits. I am also a fan of Denilson because when he is on his game he provides vital defensive balance, does the unglamorous work and supports both Cesc and Song. And chips in with the odd goal/assist as well. No-one else in the squad really does his role and his contribution has generally been underrated.

  679. Passenal,

I know there are some people who come in here with their preconceptions, and who will always hate on some Arsenal players.

You’re right that Denilson will get more excoriated than Nasri and Clichy who made us concede a goal from an innocuous position.

But it’s not either-or. These are crucial games.

  680. We are not gonna win nuffin with that Gallic hypocrite managings us and some of his arselicking retards as our fans.

  681. yeah i’d agree it’s a team problem ole!!

but it was evra who cleared the ball high, I just think a more intelligent player would of just gone into the situation a bit smarter. because it all started from a corner like you said we haven’t got the centre bk’s back and denilson jumps in high up the pitch, messes up, is behind play and we get done on the counter attack. we have to get that problem sorted, it happens too often…

we are so set in our ways now we don’t get ourselves relaxed before we attack again, after intercepting the ball, hense people get caught out of possession……..

  682. I agree FG @ 10.57 pm. I don’t like to see one player being picked on and others given a free pass. Perhaps this makes me support them more, but I just don’t like to see bullying in any shape or form. I cannot agree with the logic that a 21 year old should be given less slack than a much older and more experienced one. The excuse for the latter is that he can make something out of nothing. Well it’s been a year and I’m still waiting.

  683. I say Arshavin cost us the game. 3 or 4 times he shot when there were better placed players and didnt hit the target once.

That’s when it was 0-0 and even the anti-Arsenal commentators had to admit we were on top.

It’s the least acceptable thing in Wengerball. Our entire game is based on passing if someone is better placed.

  684. abc

    vey telling statistic

it puts it black and white – there is a consistent struggle against the good teams

we can still beat the smaller sides well because it’s a two tier league but are

its a mentality thing, a team balance thing and a physical thing

remember the old simple adage – attack as a team – defend as a team

watch this game as an example of how not do do that

the depressing thing is that it is the same script

fergie said it after the game – we know that arsenal all play up to the box so if you can counterattack quickly you have a great chance

just like the CL semi- sucked up and just hit

No patience, nous, composure, intelligence without the ball

  685. from 2008 onwards ( 2 years ) lets look at our records against decent teams ( excluding carling cup of course) . 7 teams being manutd, chelsea, city, everton, villa, liverpool,sp*ds

    played-38
    won- 10
    drawn- 13
    lost-15

    that again tells you something

at this rate arsenal goest at the rate of 1.13 points against those seven teams that makes 14*1.13=15.82 points against them for the whole season . lets approximate this 15.82 to 16 . it leaves us with 24 games against rest teams which include fulhams stokes and other anti football teams which are percieved as threats to us because of their physical style . so from the remaining 24*3=72 points if we get 60-62 points that makes it to 76-78 points for the season .ie it virtually guarantees us a top 4 finish.

anybody saying that the games against top teams do not matter that much , the title is won against the lower teams……just hold on

  686. its all opinion F.G

I will have to disagree about denilson if diaby is fit he doesn’t play so he is isn’t as important as you make out…

to be honest today summed up for me what sort of player he is…

  687. @ Passenal

I just don’t like to see bullying in any shape or form.
    My sentiments exactly.

  688. arshavin was greedy I dont think he cost us the game just could of got us a better result…

also when we went 2-0 down we got even more nervous in case they hit us on the brake again…

I think its time to score first in these big games now..

  689. OG, I’m not necessarily talking about this game, but I’ve been at matches and seen certain players contribute nothing and give the ball away constantly, yet I come back online and read how fabulous they are and how rubbish someone else has been. All players have good and bad days but it is a fact that there is an obvious difference in the criticism based on their position in the pecking order. I’m sick of reading the excuses for certain players compared to the speed at which others are criticized.

  690. @ John

Diaby does not carry out the same role as Denilson. He offers a different tactical option and he is usually played WITH Denilson, not instead of.

    **

    @ Stringfellow Hawke

So are you a joey, too?

  691. Matt, I was at the game today. Denilson had a poor game by his usual standards and I agree that he’s not yet really found form since his injury. I expect that to be is fairly normal.

But he was not our worst player.

What turned the game was a piece of outstanding skill by Nani, from then on, we were wide open to the counter attack.

I think sometimes its ok to say well done to the other team, dust yourself off and get on with winning the next game. The beauty of football is that redemption is only ever a week away.

  692. @ John

arshavin was greedy I dont think he cost us the game just could of got us a better result…

That’s saying the same thing. If he’d assisted three or four times rather than missed, we’d have had at least a draw.

And incidentally, Denilson is always selected if fit. Which means AW must think he is an important player.

  693. “The beauty of football is that redemption is only ever a week away.”

    Very true, QoS.

  694. no, believe me fun g

when diaby returns it will be diaby, song and cesc
of course they have different roles. denilson is not starting 11 quality he is a squad player…

lately song has been away stop twisting things. you know arsene was gutted diaby couldn’t play today. he was terrible today there is no way around it…

  695. YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE ARSENE……..YOU CAN TAKE YOUR BACKROOM STAFF TOO…

    IWWT

    IN WENGER WE TRUST………..lol

  696. It would be fukin nice to play a consistent fukin team. never gunner get a full season out of RVP lets be honest no matter that he is world class. bollocks. i fukin hate man utd and worst of all their shit.

  697. I think if we’d scored first we’d have won today. We were cutting them open.

Once they scored we had to go gung-ho and they caught us at the break.

If we scored first we’d very likely have won.

  698. fun gunner

that was silly, arshavin didn’t score man utd’s goals.
all these if’s and but’s are pointless.

so he never cost us the match and what i said was he could of helped us get a result.

how is that the same thing?

denilson is selected for the big 4 games because wenger like to have 2 defensive centre midfielders against the strong sides to win the battle in midfield.

he would of selected diaby today though..

he may aswell give that up now because they’re seems to be problems all over the pitch from midfield to the goalie…

  699. All Denilson supporters quote his stats they mean
F…kall its the performance that counts not the sideways and short passes or giving up when an opponent passes by.

As for Almunia he is a lost cause our best GK is playing for Brentford even though hes only 19 his positional play would have avoided two of the goals,

  700. John Denilson is not a defensive Midfielder he CANT defend

  701. sol

i’m well aware about denilson and where he plays.
    i said defensive minded anyway…….

  702. A QUOTE FROM GOOD PLAYA WE SHOULD ALL ASK OURSELVES
Just about the only time the post match pub conversation went quiet was when the question of which other Premier League team Almunia would get into was raised. Ask yourself that. I should declare at this point I was one of those who thought at the beginning of the season that he’d do. I was wrong.

  703. Speaking frankly about this performance it was a situation in which the team was comprehensively beaten. It is as simple as that. With respect to Denilson, he was shying from tackles and this is absolutely unforgiveable in a midfield player! My confidence has been shaken in Denilson. He has not been the player we have known in the past. Particularly since his feinting spell one wonders if Denilson has the stomach for Premiership football.

  704. John (jonjon),

They’re not ifs, they’re actual events in the game.

Even you would have watched enough football to know that in the big games, you have to make your advantage count, and if one team takes the lead, the other has to chase the game.

The team that has to chase the game has its work cut out.

  705. @ John

So Arshavin’s greed wasn’t decisive in the loss, but other people’s mistakes in a chain of defensive errors were? To win a game you have to score goals as well as concede fewer goals.

As for Denilson/Diaby, what on earth am I twisting?

You don’t know whether a fit Diaby would have replaced Denilson today, nor do you know what Arsene will do for the next match.

Denilson isn’t just selected for Big 4 games. The fact is that so far, for a season and half, Denilson has pretty much ALWAYS been selected if fit. Check the teamsheets. That strongly suggests that AW regards him as an important player. What am I twisting there?

Diaby, as you have accepted, does not play the same role as Denilson. What am I twisting by saying that?

I said that Denilson “when he is on his game” contributes a lot. I didn’t say anything about his performance today. Take your own advice and read posts properly.

  706. John (jonjo’n),

They’re not ifs, they’re actual events in the game.

Even you would have watched enough football to know that in the big games, you have to make your advantage count, and if one team takes the lead, the other has to chase the game.

The team that has to chase the game has its work cut out.

  707. If Arshavin did not play well on offense and didnt make the necessary playw that wouldve most led to a goal then he also cost us the game and to say anything otherwise is biased.

Unless, we are going for 0-0 the whole season.

  708. John (jo’njo’n),

They’re not ifs, they’re actual events in the game.

Even you would have watched enough football to know that in the big games, you have to make your advantage count, and if one team takes the lead, the other has to chase the game.

The team that has to chase the game has its work cut out.

  710. fun gunner

arshavin being greedy did not score utds goals the errors did how is that hard to understand.

the diaby thing was you twisted things to make it look like i didn’t know diaby and denilson played different roles..

denilson is not arsenal quality stop looking at passes and a few interceptions and take a look at the other side of his game.

also wenger picks almunia who is a shit goalie so just because he picks denilson ahead of ramsey doesn’t say alot to me i believe its experience not qualityor importance that gets him picked…

  711. ole I’m not jon jon he was on here why i was once i know who you mean..

I understand that in the big games if you score first it could swing the game in your direction and set up a start, it doesn’t excuse denilson and clichy at all

but defensively we were woeful today so who knows lets just say arshavin was also to blame as guilty as denilson today.

  712. John

They’re not ifs, they’re actual events in the game.

Even you would have watched enough football to know that in the big games, you have to make your advantage count, and if one team takes the lead, the other has to chase the game.

The team that has to chase the game has its work cut out.

  713. To be fair to Denilson, having just seen the highlights again now, he didn’t see Rooney running behind him so he gravitated to be back-up to the person marking Nani.

Someone whould have given him a shout.

  714. John,

Denilson is Arsenal quality. Very important player for us last season.

  715. ole g

thats what happens when you get too attracted to the ball if he had any sense he would of let vermaelen and clichy chase and turn his head earlier.. this will happen when we have players of this calibre playing for us ..

lets agree to disagree about denilson ole, we aren’t getting anywhere good luck on that subject!!

  716. ole g

thats what happens when you get too attracted to the ball. if he had any sense he would of let verm and clichy chase nani and turn his head earlier..

    lets agree to disagree ole

we aren’t getting anywhere good luck with it though you seem to be his no1 fan..

  717. That genuinely hurt guys. I dunno why my fellow gooner friends are saying that I have no faith when in the back of my mind i’m sure we still have a good chance to push for the title starting from our next game. But what I can’t do is defend the player’s as they really didn’t do their talking on the pitch.

Misplaced passes galore. We have no focal point upfront and expect Cesc or Arshavin to pull a rabit out of the hat. As much as I loathe Utd they truly just brushed us aside and played good logical football. They were absolutely ruthless in their execution. It was as if to say, take your pretty football and shove it!!!

I’m all for our philosophy and Wenger’s vision as I would obviously wouldn’t be supporting this club if I wasn’t.

But the truth of the matter is sometimes we over elaborate and put ourselves in danger. Our demise is of our own making and if we do not figure out a way to make our ‘pretty’ football effective like Barcelona, i’m sad to say that we’ll always come short.

I vehemently believe RVP’s injury was a very harsh blow to our title credentials especially in these big games. We’ve coped admirably without him against the smaller teams but someone upfront needs to step up soon if we’re going to have any chance against our direct rivals.

I’m not going to succumb to the blind faith that’s being thrown around as ones thoughts must be based on reality. I call it like I see it. The boys had a golden opportunity today to prove it where it matters most and came up short. We didn’t play badly as I feel all their goals were unexpected and on the counter. We had chances that we could’ve and should’ve taken but didn’t. That’s football but the recovery MUST start now.

I won’t go on blaming players here and there like the rest of these so called fan’s have but its obvious there are some players that just aren’t putting in the performances required of them. Alot of teams have shit players but manage to win due to teamwork. Thats the way I see it. The shortcoming’s of some can be made up for by the exceptional ones. They need to fight, sweat and toil again just like they did after the Chelsea game. It’s in their hands and they must show pride.

PS Sorry I couldn’t hold it in anymore. Almunia has to go. He has no presence whatsoever in a team thats full of character. It’s just not right.

  718. denilson denilson denilson.

It is unfair to scapegoat one player. But its perfectly reasonable to point out what I think is fairly obvious-he had a poor game.

Furthermore, he isn’t and never will be the slickest offensive on-the-ball player. I don’t have the stats of course but it seems among our front 6, he is the most likely to lose the ball. And also the least likely to make something happen with it (aside from the long-range bombs which are sweet but too rare)

That would be forgiveable if he was AT LEAST CONSISTENT and solid defensively/positionally. Or brought some athleticism or physicality. But when you don’t offer much offensively and you are at fault / not preventing goals within your control, the what’s the point?

He just doesn’t have a major strength to his game. To be most flattering, you can say he’s kinda good (very flattering) at everything. Which is why I think he’s a useful squad player. But he isn’t great, he doesn’t offer enough to be our best option, and today he was the weak link.

  719. not to be too down, we will still be in a good position for the home stretch if we can win next week.

We can steamroll the rest of our schedule, especially if the pressure’s off us and we get our injury list down. RVP back mid- March? yes please.

  720. Nasir Jones-Nasri

Disappointing result. Also, an extremely disappointing display from Whingefickle Hawke. That c*nt can f*ck right off claiming to be an AKB. Telling people to come get a piece of you on a blog? What an oaf.

  721. Just realised how my 10:44 might be misread!

    I meant:

The con-flux of an Arsenal defeat, Mr.T and Airwolf had led to a bizarre premonition (or smell) before NojNoj’s (not John’s) appearance.

It felt like he was already here.

On the match, a not very knowledgeable observation. I’d like to watch the game again to do some research, but that may be a while:

I thought that after Fabregas asked Song to briefly push forward (Utd were rocking a little bit, Fabregas was amazing in that phase, & Song was ‘holding’ more then usual) that space opened up for Utd. to relieve the pressure. Not sure if that was just before the critical first goal but I think so.

A lucky turn for Utd. I felt. Arshavin could possibly have set up Nasri for a hat-trick before that moment. at least a brace. He’s lucky Fergie isn’t his manager!

  722. Clichy struggled against Nani from the word go and I sensed troubled. He couldn’t keep up with Nani’s speed. When Nani went past him and Nasri it wasn’t to surprising that no one hacked him down. Top defenders don’t allow such embarrassment. It’s Nani who cut short Justin Hoyte’s Arsenal career – but don’t expect such extremities with Clichy but it’s beginning to look like he may never reach the quality of an Ashley Cole or a Patrice Evra. Another point that showed was that we were playing without a striker. Arshavin is an attacking midfielder who can perform as a striker against lesser teams. Would Eduardo have made a difference had he been fit? We’ll never know and that’s worrying against Manu’s second string central defence. As for Denilson he was my player of the season last season. He struggled. But who didn’t. Cesc wasn’t Cesc. Song showed that he was still tired. Nasri couldn’t support Clichy, Rosicky was poor and Arshavin was selfish. As for Almunia it appears that he never be a big time goalkeeper. vermaelen played reasonably well for a man we shouldn’t have risked anyway. And one only wonders how it would have turned out if he hadn’t played!

  723. MEN against boys, Part Four.
Arsenal have now lost their last four home games against Chelsea and Manchester United, conceding THIRTEEN goals and scoring just three in the process.

In funereal black type, that reads 3-1 (United), 4-1 (Chelsea), 3-0 (Chelsea) and now 3-1 (United).

  724. If the penny has not finally dropped with Arsene Wenger that he and his side are heading up the same old cul-de-sac they have been tramping for the last five seasons, then it never will.

And it is not even as if there were boys out there yesterday, since five of the Arsenal side were 27 or over.

It is just that they played like them.

  725. In his programme notes, the Frenchman claimed: “We are not the same team as the one that lost to United on their last visit here in the Champions League semi-final.

“We are a different animal, because we have improved and we are mentally prepared for top-level competition.”

Different animal? You would have thought Arsenal had developed into some sort of snarling tiger. Sadly for their long-suffering supporters, they were the same old pussycat when faced by a real beast.

  726. Now, in no way am I going to deride Denilson, but this season his performances have been lacklustre.

I was full of praises for his performances last season, but this season he has been bad so far. Against the weaker teams who are obviously not as clinical in their final third as compared to the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd his mistakes can be condoned and covered up most of the time.

But in this match his lack of ability was especially glaring. He was offering nothing at all in defence and attack. He was often pushed off the ball and played poor passes under pressure. To make it worse, he isn’t contributing anything at all in the air too. I don’t think he has won any ball in the air in the match. If Diaby was having an offday either in defence or attack, at least he can still contribute with his height in the air.

Even Ramsey would have been a better choice because he is actually faster than Denilson, and plays with desire everytime he is on the field.

Sad but true, because I don’t think Denilson is going to make it in Arsenal. There are way better midfielders in Arsenal compared to him. He is just too mediocre.

Last season he has managed to catch the eye because we were playing a more defensive game when Fabregas, Eduardo and Van Persie were out.

  727. maybe almunia has 3-d vision…..lmao

  728. A tricky week of football for Arsenal, hitting the post, umpteen chances missed. It happens. We can’t say we didn’t create our chances to change both games. Such a fine line between winning and losing. That said ManU’s two counter-attacking goals were both excellent ie the pass that led to the goal. I thought the first was extraordinary but should have been snuffed out. Being a supporter of honour I have only ‘two tings’, well played ManU and come on Arsenal, the season is NOT over. The trolls are, as usual, like shadows of sadness and resignation. Not me.

  729. poor dave, I’m sorry your life hasn’t turned out the way you had hoped.

  730. Bergkamp Ghoulfest

I’m sorry, but yesterday was the day I turned against Denilson for good. He should be tearing up his pay cheque. Could you be MORE casual with Wayne Rooney running in behind you? No. Off the fucking team sheet, then.

  731. I thought we noticeably lacked the usual sharpness, played mediocre, and still could have gotten something from the game. For the waverers recall that Arsenal is all but unbeatable at full strength. It’s a game not a season.

  732. Strange that Denilson, Clichy and Nasri were not at their best. Could it be that all three have recently come back from injury?

  733. Wenger will be sad. The team will respond.

  734. Do you remember when their were calls for Spaniard Almunia to be England’s goalie? Now I know why: he’s got what it takes – he’s just as bad as the ones we already have!….LOL

  740. What a load of rubbish is all i can say, hopefully denilson will be dropped now. Gael is great but these constant lapses in concentration are getting ridiculous. As for Almunia – how much longer must we have a shit keeper?

  741. Fuck off Dave you moron and stop polluting the place.

  742. Just got back. That was not in the plan. I agree with AWs comments our attacking and defensive performance was below our usual standard. We did not have enough up front to fully occupy their defenders and yet had we put our chances away we could have scored four or five goals. The Mancs were beginning to fold within 15 minutes from the end.

Defensively we were very poor down the flanks, particularly our left flank. No support from midfield in those spaces just in fron of the full-backs. We do seem to be very susceptible on the break at the moment. I guess that is the consequence of conceding early and losing defensive structure in the frantic effort to score.

If ever there was a time for us to miss RvP it is now. With RvP and Nic in full flow we not only occupy the opposition defenders but we defend from the front. Nonetheless AA nearly pulled it out of the bag.

No doubt about it the Mancs were the better team on the day. But it will not always be that way. Now is the time to just keep grinding away, game by game and see what happens.

    ….Arsenal….

  743. Bergkamp G. You the football expert have written off a 21 year old? And have you actually watched Ramsey play? He has a tendency to give the ball away in dangerous areas and does not read the game well enough yet. He is 19 and still learning so I accept that. Funny how the best Arsenal player is always the one that is not playing.

  744. Ramsey pisses on denilson, Denilson is so bad I can tbelieve he gets so much support

  745. I don’t think there is a big gap between us and Manure and the Chavs the difference is not really individual players we have good players I thought the problem yesterday was a collective one , defensively we did not work as a unit there was no cohesion all 3 goals could’ve been avoided if we were defending like a gang of hyenas and that what United did, as soon as Fabregas tries to break away he was almost surrounded immediately and everyone of them biting at is heels. So I believe this team is good enough but there is work to be done on the defensive side of things starting at Chelsea

  746. For Arsenal’s long-suffering fans, another tale of woe can be added to their collection. Any lessons learnt from the Champions League semi final mauling handed out last season seemed to have been ignored.

Cristiano Ronaldo was the star man that day. United’s hopes of replicating the trick were supposed to have gone out of the window with his exit to Real Madrid in the summer.

With Nani and Rooney in their current run of form though, Arsenal can expect to be left healing their wounds from a Mancunian mauling for another season to come.

  747. Further evidence that the Arsenal that exists in Wengers head bears little resemblance to the Arsenal that actually take the pitch.

Against both Chelsea and United. Wenger heaped the pressure on his players pre match, roughly translated, my boys are ready to become men, clearly they’re not.

Makes last weeks F.A. Cup fiasco all the more baffling for those Wengerites

  748. I wonder if there’s any point in attempting to defend our players on what is increasingly becoming an anti-Arsenal site. It’s like trying to clean a turd.

  749. Totally agree Poliziano @ 9.15 am. I am more disappointed by the way alleged supporters have turned on one of the youngest players in the team than the result of the game. Human nature disgusts me at times and I think I’ve seen the worst of it on here recently. Maybe it’s time for a break.

  750. Dave, f*ck off you glory hunting p.o.s. Lemme guess, you’ve been a Chelsea fan before Roman came in, just like every other Chelsea fan, am i right?

Why are you here anyway? No friends to go celebrate Chelsea’s league position with?

While I’d like to believe that you’re a loner, you’re probably just a regular poster here with a doom/gloom alt

  751. Frank and 1 loose cannon beacons in a blog of shite.

Can’t really be bothered to comment on the match myself when the d&g will outnumber the positive comments.

I will say that look at our injury list add that to the squad and it would be a different story. With that in mind I have nod oubt that Arsenal as a whole is a better club than Man Ure.

Fair play to them yesterday, they were very good. mneeeh…. cant be arsed.

    Up the gunners!!!!

  752. Also poli and passenal, good support.

  753. EVEN AN INJURED ESSIEN SEATED ON A SWIVEL CHAIR IN THE CENTRE OF YOUR MIDFIELD WOULD HAVE HAD MORE EFFECT ON THE GAME THAN YOUR NON-EXISTENT MIDFIELD……

COME TO THINK OF IT,IF U GUYS WERE ACTUALLY IN THE FRENCH LEAGUE,WENGUS WOULD ATLEAST WIN THE SOME CUP WITH HIS MIDGETS

  754. It’ll be next year that Deni finally alters opinion positively towards him. Looking through our squad we are in safe hands. Maybe just need to sort out the injury situation.

Lets not get down, we have the difficult fixtures behind us now, if you look at the remaining games there’s nobody that can cause as much trouble as what Man Utd could possibly do.

A few tricky ones, as Liverpool are sorting themselves out and Sunderland away can be grounds for a stalemate, but no doubt Wenger will steer us through.

  755. We need to find a way to stop a counter attack when our CBs go in search of goals from a set piece. Clichy used to be the man with the speed to do the job, but it has not worked in the last few games.

  756. Arseblog this morning is very compelling reading, not for anything he writes but for how much he’s dissolved into becoming Myles Palmer, the man he used to mock.

Defeat can do cruel things to a man’s soul.

  757. There are a lot of angry people around (though God knows what cause they have to be so livid), so it’s going to continue like this on here for a few days. It’s not hard to ignore the wind ups and moaners; just look for comments by people who know what they’re talking about.

When it comes to the matter of fans trashing out team, it’s good to know that the players AW really puts his faith in always win the fans over eventually. Song and Diaby are a couple of recent examples.

That was ManU’s best performance this season – and that’s what their players have called it as well. It was one of our very worst, which seems to tells us that there’s a psychological barrier waiting to be broken down. And it could happen this weekend.

I think we’re going to shock people at Chelsea, and after that it’s pretty much plain sailing in the league. We’ll have all the momentum in April and May, and we’ll see where how far we can go.

With all the money spent by Chelsea and ManU to get to where they are, we find ourselves in touch, and on a limited budget, and with a great opportunity to gain some ground this weekend.

  758. At Arsenal we don’t have any inferiority complex everyone is good enough to play Foreign, short, young , tall or old if you are good enough you play, its simple. But someone on here clearly have an in inferiority complex when it comes to height he is using “caps” to be noticed.I wonder if he wears high heels in his spare time. I’d say to everyone ignore the shite.

  759. OneOfUs; I agree with your thinking. It has so far turned out to be a funny old season…one where we have looked better against the week in week out opposition, but have struggled when big games have come our way. Though we have had our wins over United, Chelsea and Liverpool over the last 3 years, when it really counts, we have failed…champions league quater final, Semi Final, FA Cup semi final, and crunch league games in the final 3rd of the season.

Like you I put much of this down to attitude and mental issues rather than talent and skill. But also our in ability to die hard defend in such big games and cut out silly mistakes (Diaby own goal, Aluminia many times, Denilson slacking, Senderous in the past, the list can go on).

I feel proud and convinced that Arsenal have formed a squad of players who can ‘nearly’ keep pace with the best two in the country, on a quarter the budget in terms of transfers and wages, and I am encourage by the fact unlike United, Chelsea, Liverpool and even City, we could continue to do so for 5 years without spending a penny!

However my fear is Wenger only has a few years left in him, Cesc will seek dream move to Spain in time. So why not spend the money we recoup to gain this extra mile required to win these bigger games and claim some trophies!

  760. Scapegoating 101:
    • When the going is good, publicly express devotion to Wenger ball, especially on a very popular blog with a pro-Arsenal slant. Better yet start a blog of your own, ideally with a cannon and the crest as the mast head, to get some immediate credibility.

    • Join the bandwagon. Rail against the doomers and gloomers. Curse the Chavs, the Scum and the Mancs. Call them c*unts, c*cks, pr*cks; anything that makes you look a hard guy.

    • In the run-up to big-game, though, hedge your bets. Big up the Arsenal but express some of the standard doubts about the squad and Wenger’s refusal to spend big.

    • On game-day, during the game itself; pay particular attention to the player you are most insecure about. Forget the other players on the field; they are just the supporting cast. As the game unfolds, start vomiting your insecurities online as soon as the game unfolds.

    • Go into hyper-ventilate mode should the opposing team score first. Worse if the TV commentators make the standard dopey comments about certain players. Scapegoat #1 is born.

    • Post-game I: Shred all pretence of the team wins together and lose together. Rip the presumed weakest link to shreds. Preferably target is a foreign player who cost relative pennies, ignore the higher priced signings as this will undermine your ultimate conclusion that Wenger must resort to the transfer market.

    • Post game II: Ridicule all supporters/bloggers who defend the presume scapegoat. Dismiss any statistics that support the scapegoatee on the grounds that your eyes are better than any stat. Exposed as a hypocrite and plastic supporter, resort to the tough guy language (c*unts, c*cks, pr*cks) to describe those who are opposed to your over-reaction.

    • As Arsenal/Wenger recover from the setback, steady the ship, learn the lessons, return to winning ways – slink off to another blog where you can take the most vicious potshots at Wenger for failing to spend big/win any trophies.

    • Next season – Restart the cycle.

  761. When Chelsea stuck it to us @ home they provided our first wake up call this season. Our team rallied, erased their 11-pt lead and were back in contention in no time.

Rooney & co clinically beating us again on our home turf has provided a 2nd wake up call.

Its now up to AW’s team to step up to the plate again. What better game to restart from than Chelsea @ the Bridge?

No Essien & possibly an out-of-sync Drogba & Mikel balances out with the wounded & unfit members of our squad.

On paper, Chelsea should win but we have to come out with all guns blazing. We’ll wait & see.

With CL matches coming up. it really is about that time we stepped it up a notch.

    Its now or never gooners!

    RASERS!

PS: F**K OFFF DAVE, u maggot! Go beg JT to give u a colonic!

  762. so true shotta-gunna. So true.

I’ve personally resolved. No more defending these players.

I do because I think they’re young and nothing makes a man doubt himself more than widespread but unfair criticism.

But ultimately, they will prove the doubters wrong with their performances.

I’ll just focus on supporting the team.

  763. OOU great advice.

As you say Song and Diaby have proved our shite fans wrong, now deni is the subject of the same filth. Next season it will all change.

Man U were great and when you play a team in form like that it makes you look bad. There were a few poor displays, but ManU themselves have had similar displays this very season.

We should see this as a positive and use the fact that teams will write us off and underestimate us, and whip there sorry asses.

We can still win the league.
We will still win the league.

  764. Alright I gave this some thought and was wondering don’t you guys think we should revert to a 442 again???

    Something like:

    Fabianski

    Sagna Gallas Verm Clichy

    Walcott Cesc Song Eboue

    Arshavin Bendy

I think that would be quite effective against certain teams. Eboue’s crossing even though not perfect is soooo refreshing compared to Sagna’s. I was actually contemplating proposing a betting game , to betting companies, where players would try to guess how many times Sagna would mess up his crosses during the game.

    Team against Chelsea i’d pick:

    Fabianski

    Sagna Gallas Verm Clichy

    Song

    Cesc Diaby

    Walcott Arsh

    Bendy

We need to vary our play FFS. We are overdosing on playmakers. We need some wing action (Walcott) and a stronger centre forward to hold up the ball (Bendy). I know some of you are going to say that these players wont be on form but damn it seems that it doesnt matter anymore whether you play on form players or not as nothing can be achieved without a committed side. All I want is some heart and character not the spineless performance I woke up early for on a sunday morning. I’m sure the players are hurting more than we are, shell shocked by the recent events. I hope they get it together soon to save them from another humiliation.

One more thing, there was someone that was poking jokes at me for missing Almunia when I put up my starting line up. Seems to me I got it spot on, he wasn’t there on the pitch either!

  765. Bergkamp Ghoulfest

“It’ll be next year that Deni finally alters opinion positively towards him.”

No: it will be the moment he stops fannying about when he should be getting goalside of a 20-goal-a-season striker waltzing right in front of him.

  766. Bergkamp Ghoulfest

I haven’t lost perspective: we can still win the prem this year. But I have a lot less respect for a player I used to support and I’m not so sure about our keeper anymore.

  767. have Yogi gone into seclusion ?

  768. How can Wenger not see we dont have one decent keeper at the club.Lehmann was bombed out after 2 mistakes yet Almunia survives because the two keepers below him are shit.We were a joke yesterday

  769. Wow Arseblogger has had a proper rant this morning!

I don’t agree with a lot of his points and genuinely think that there are still a lot of twists and turns to go. But I can understand the frustration, we seemed to be a long way short yesterday.

Maybe an early Jan signing of a forward would have helped, but its easy to say that with hindsight isn’t it?

  770. I think Yogi is proof reading a piece and trying oh so hard to cut down on the ‘fuck’s’ ‘Denilson’s’ ‘School boy defending’ and your friendly neighbourhoods ‘flapping Almunia’s’ , but to no avail.

  771. Bergkamp mistakes were made by a few players, Deni was no worse than others, and in the face of a good opponent, this is the time when they happen.

    So why single him out.

Nani, Rooney, Ji-Sung all have had bad games this season. A good friend of mine that sadly is a ManU supporter said to me that that is the best play he has seen all season from then. So we just have to pick our selves up get 3 points against chelsea and the rest of the season we could storm. We would need other teams to slip up but that is likely to b honest.

As the team goes we have the best squad with most potential in europe. The potential is being realised now and trophys are inevitable.

Bergkamp you can support, but be a fan also. How much enjoyment have this team given you. Pay them back the most, in difficult times.

  772. Armchair Apologist Supporters (AAS)

    1. Have no balance in your view, you must believe the sky is blue, even when it’s very clearly red. Scream, shout, abuse, lie, lie lie and lie some more… never admit the sky is not blue. Liars are true believers.

    2. There are never 2 sides to a coin, heads or tails?
Be quiet, only double headed coins around my gaff!

    3. Get smacked up with a sledgehammer right across your chops, but lie and tell folk it was a mere feather that tickled you.

    4. Any disobdient must be told he is foolish to have a balanced view. Who ever heard of making comment and judgement based on facts?
Thats just silly talk, we make it up as we go along.. as long as it suits our view… what? i told you, and i will tell you again the sky is blue… errr not scrub that, RED, it’s red for sure.

    5. Repeat until death.

  773. els

Diaby and Song have not proved the fans wrong.Yes they look great against the average teams in the Prem but against the big boys they are found wanting just like the rest of our team with the exception of Cesc.

    The keeper is a clown
Clichy has been on a down hill curve since Birmingham
    Slowcoach Denilson not good enough

We are 3rd because Liverpool are shit.We are miles behind the big two

  774. Wenger said at the end of december he WOULD sign a striker. He Lied

  775. Trophies are inevitable. I think it’s that mindset that’s set us back at PRESENT. We’re always dreaming of tomorrow and the potential this team has. We’ve seen glimmers of it no doubt but always come short at crucial stages of the season. You can attribute it to injuries, fatigue or loss of focus but the one thing that I don’t buy is that Wenger couldn’t find players during the current transfer window that would improve our squad. Sorry but thats a load of crap. Ok maybe he said the ones he wanted weren’t available. But damn sometimes you can compromise and get a good enough player that might not be the best in the world but good enough to be effective. A player that has the basics and commitment down to help this squad. I really find Wenger’s stubbornness in insisting to give younger players a baptism of fire as counter productive to the development of this team. Like he’s on to something big here but refuses to give in and find us cover? We just need that little bit, either tactically or personnel wise to put us ahead of these clowns. Seriously don’t you guys think we would’ve had this thing won already if Wenger wasn’t so stubborn by trying to paper over the cracks??? He probably knows infinitely more than I do and i’m sure he will prove me wrong but it just seems that he likes making it hard on himself for some reason. Just loves the challenge I guess.

  776. I don’t have a problem with the Denilson bashing tbh. He’s a professional player and if he’s really good enough, it will show. All the Song, Eboue, and Diaby bashing didn’t harm them did it? They were criticized because they played poorly. As soon as they start playing well, they’re praised and future criticism will be tempered. For instance, Song wasn’t that great yesterday either but notice that hardly anyone mentions he’s name anymore, why? because he’s shown over a number of performances that he’s the dog’s bollocks.

If Denilson is good enough, (and Wenger seem to think he is) it will become obvious to everyone in time.

  777. I’m probably one of Denilsons biggest fans and I would agree he switched off at an important moment yesterday.

It wasn’t an issue of not covering the ground fast enough, it was because he wasn’t aware enough of the danger. It was a mistake. Young players make them.

Most goals conceded everywhere at every level require that somebody somewhere has made a mistake. It doesn’t mean that everyone of them is useless and should be pillioried too…

The majority of the team did not play well yesterday. Arsene will decide whether that means a player out of form should be dropped, not somebody throwing a tantrum on a blog.

  778. QoS,

Someone should have given him a shout. Surely someone should have seen Rooney’s run?

  779. Bergkamp Ghoulfest

@ els: I believe I am echoing something Wenger said many years ago when I state that I will always forgive a technical mistake from a player, but when the error is down to a clear lack of commitment it is oh so much harder to forget. All the more when you have backed him in the past.

Like you said, our team give their fans lot of enjoyment and yesterday, barring the scoreline, actually provided a lot of footballing entertainment. Just need to blow off a little steam before the Chelsea game, by which time I hope I’ll be rehabilitated and ultra-supportive.

  780. Bergkamp Ghoulfest

(@ Henristic: I actually thought Song was pretty damn good yesterday. Had to rein in his tackling after the card but he retained and distributed possession quite well over 90 min)

  781. Bergkamp, yeah, but where was he for the goals? He’s the main DM, shouldn’t he be covering our central defenders?

I’m not really criticizing him mind, I’m just saying if he played the same way 1 year ago, he would have been one of the main targets for bashing imo.

Given time, when denilson begins to show his worth to the team, few will bash him anymore.
