Here’s The Banjo, The Cow And It’s Arsenal – Someone Please Fill In The Blanks

Arsenal 0 – 0 Fulham

It was little surprise that this game ended goalless. The most striking feature of 2009 thus far, has been the inability of the squad to build upon strong performances in a previous game. Whilst it is commendable that a run of fifteen games has been built since the defeat in Porto, there can be no argument that too many of those games have been drawn.

Even more, the gap to fourth place is now wider than it was when the run began in December 2008. In terms of outcome, more points would have been gained had the team won three and lost four of the seven Premier League games that ended drawn. Yet, had that been the case, criticisms would have been made of the failure to turn the defeats into draws. A no-win situation, literally and metaphorically-speaking.

Despite this, the longer term view needs to be looked at. Unfortunately, that view cannot be taken until May when the final standings are known. The season has been a turbulent mix of the good, the bad and the ugly; inconsistency the byword. Eleven games remain. Assuming that Villa win this afternoon, Wenger will know in five games whether or not fourth place is achievable or not. There is no point in saying that Villa have to go to Anfield or Old Trafford; so do we (albeit the United game is later in the season) and we have to win those games. He will also be sneaking a peek over his shoulder as Everton refuse to succumb to their usual inconsistency at this point in the season and remain in contention for fifth place.

Prior to the match, Arsene sought to deflect pressure from the forward line. He did so by swapping things around, removing Bendtner from the starting line-up and bringing Vela to the left. Creatively, it brought more to the ‘party’ but that was not the problem beforehand; finishing was and playing van Persie as a lead striker does not bring the best out of the Dutchman.

He did his best to disprove that theory. No-one can fault his effort; more luck or six inches left, right, lower and he would have had a hat-trick, or at the least the single goal which would have made the world of difference to the result. It was not to be, a combination of Schwarzer and the woodwork denying him. Other than Diaby, no-one else came particularly close, for the most part any stops made by the Fulham custodian were comfortable.

The midfield with Diaby in it is more dynamic than the Song / Denilson partnership. Yesterday, the ‘Double Diamond’ prompted well but in the latter stages, failed to pressurise Fulham as much as they should have – possession was surrendered at that stage by the visitors willingly when they were closed down eventually. Of the creative players, it was a mixed bag. Arshavin’s passing is sublime at times but his shooting is the opposite end of the spectrum as he seeks to regain match sharpness whilst Nasri and Vela both flitted in and out of the game.

There were, of course, plus points to be had. A fifth consecutive game with a clean sheet bodes well for the two knockout tournaments that the club remain involved in. Either can be won with clean sheets, Arsenal capable of nicking the goal required to progress if the defence holds firm. Fulham deserve credit yesterday; they made the back four work by refusing to park the proverbial bus in front of goal and were willing to push forward. That Almunia had perhaps one save to make all afternoon shows their profligacy matched that of Arsenal.

Luck plays a huge part in seasons, be it injuries, refereeing decisions or the woodwork. It is eluding Arsenal in two of those areas right now but may well return quickly. It has to; West Brom is a crucial game. With Villa at Manchester City, the possibility exists to claw back the points dropped in the chase for fourth. Wenger noted that Walcott, Adebayor and Eduardo will all be back in the next fortnight and hinted that it will be in that order. An injection of something new into the side may be the crucial difference between the Champions or Europa League next season.

Finally, not sure if anyone used the ATVO online coverage but if you did, the producers are asking for your feedback so please leave a comment about it. That is, after you’ve had your moan about the match!

‘til Tomorrow.

  1. Very fair Yogi.

It is getting dfficult to asy anything new about our peformances.

I think we will finish above Villa. It is new to them and pressure, as this team knows, can upset the best. Villa are not the best.

  2. We’ll be swelling that old onion bag until it bursts.

  3. Frank's biggest fan

    Arsene is the special one
    he trumped Roma with 4-2-3-1
Come on Villa, bring it on
We will outgun and get it done
No one could stop Walcott’s run
    Ade’s leap and Dudu’s stun
    El capitan will be back,
he is the best of stack
    Ace of spade
    We won’t fade
    We will blaze
    and others would daze
    We are AFC
    and you’ll see
    with Rosicky
    we are complete.
    and will compete…

  4. Thanks Yogi. After reading the other Arsenal blogs today, I was feeling miserable but your post at least had some semblance of the positive.

If we are to turn things around then the West Brom game is the best bet for us: it’s away, it’s against a team that has to gamble for 3 points and they are on a wretched run of form. The combination of the three should (fingers crossed) get us some goals.

Then the next BPL game we’ll have will be after the FA Cup game and the Roma game, which will hopefully allow us to get players back for the Blackburn game.

It’s sad that this season’s been reduced to hoping but that’s what we must do now: hope that we find goals and that Villa stumbles; our performances have not been enough.

  5. Well said.

Its hard to see this team with its wealth of talent struggle like this but it will not be in vain. Due to our struggles many have lost faith and have been fooled into believing players not good enough but I know they are. Those of us who know this will not be surprised when this thing turns around and I am calling on thr doubters to start believing even though you dont see the results now, after all thats what faith is all about.

Please Arsenal fans, dont get on the team, get behind them!

    NO FEAR!

    BE BLESSED!

  6. This is the only Arsenal blog that bears some sanity and doesn’t let the frustration get the better of the writing and it’s refreshing to read. Of course it’s easy to be frustrated and with reason but you have to be objective as well and thank you for offering some well needed optimism.

  7. The problem at the moment is not the starting eleven, it’s the lack of match changing substitutes when things are not going to plan. All teams have matches where they cannot breakdown the opposition – that’s when you look to the bench. We just seem to have had a run of these games and I firmly believe that the pressure is getting to the players. They seem to be trying to force the issue, Arsenal at their best always looked fluid and spontaneous. An away game maybe just what we need, if this is the case we do need to look at why our stadium (Which has the 2nd highest capacity in the league and is always sold out) is a hindrance rather than a bastion.

  8. I just cant believe how some people are so gullible as to fall for the spin and bullshit of Wenger after 4 years of failure. Its unreal the way we still have people coming on defending this guy. Hes a proven liar and hippocrate who has no problem taking the obscene wages that make him one of the worlds highest paid managers yet he still refuses to pay the going rate for players. Words fail me as to how some people are so stupid and detached from reality.

  9. Paulie, I would suggest you turn your invective on yourself. In the last 4 years we’ve played a Champion’s League Final, made it to the semi-finals of numerous lesser cups, and challenged for the PL title at some point or another well into a season, all while seeing player turnover that would sink lesser teams and doing so without spending silly money driving the club into debt. This is unique in the world of professional football. If that is your idea of failure than I suggest you go support Leeds and learn what real failure is like. You obviously have no perspective on what constitutes failure. Words fail me as to how there are people who think they are supporters with your attitude.

  10. Arsene Wenger has succeeded to bring down the club to a midtable level. He began by selling off quality players and brought in below standard players like Denilson.

Denilson is championship level DM and has no skills to be a great player. His tackling is poor, can’t track back and his passing and touch is very terrible for a Brazilian. Denilson made Murphy a world class midfielder yesterday. Denilson is the main reason Arsenal is suffering and until another player replaces him in his position, the midfield will continue to be weaker part of the team.

Ramsey is a better player than Denilson but for his immaturity. Ramsey has a better future than Denilson because he’s quicker, can track back and has a superir passing ability.

AW’s persistence on Denilson has made us lose out on a better DM and perhaps our failure to play CL next season

  11. Bragging Rights Ltd

Don’t like it, Paulie? Go and support someone else. Off you go now, there’s a good lad.

Don’t expect a goodbye, either. The Arsenal doesn’t need you. It’s wheat from the chaff time re our support.

We’re 15 games unbeaten without Cesc, Theo, Eduardo, Rosicky and with Ade currently out and Arshavin still finding his feet.

This run is probably just down to luck because I’m sure Wenger isn’t responsible for it.

  12. BRL, Gris Gris,

Dont even waste your time responding, some people have made their minds up to be miserable and they are most probably just miserable people on a whole.

I am very proud of this team!

  13. Howard,

You are a miserable tosser. What’s this persistant scapegoating of Denilson, when he’s playing the midfield holding role ? What about the other 5 attacking midfielders and strikers who failed to convert just 1 of the numerous chances that have come their way ?

In any case, did you notice the 15 match unbeaten run ? Before yesterday, we were 3rd in the form table, and did you ever notice us doing well after champions league games at the weekend ? Used to play 3 matches in 7 days did you ?

    F*ck off.

  14. Bragging Rights Ltd

You’re out too Howard. You get a “goodbye, take care” at least because I think we’re all worried that you might be crazier than a gang of Zebras with AK47s. We don’t want you freaking out so I think we have to be gentle.

  15. Gris Gris & Muppet – Well said.

  16. Howard – Please see my comment from yesterday.

  17. Bragging Rights Ltd

Don’t worry, Muppet. Howard only responds when he gets The Shining. His invisible friend, “Tony” tells him what to say.

Howard has a Denilson photo montage on his bedroom wall. All the eyes are cut out though.

He spends his nights cradling a tattered Action-man, which he calls “DM”.

A glimpse of a typical Conversation in Howard’s bedroom:

Howard: Arsenal isn’t scoring at the moment. What’s the problem, DM?

    Tattered Action Man Doll:….

    Howard: That’s what I think, too, DM – it’s all Denilson’s fault.

    Denilson Photo Montage:….

Howard: Shut up! Just shut up! What should I do, DM?

    Tattered Action Man Doll:….

Howard: Maybe you’re right, maybe I should get a perm.

    Invsible Tony:….

Howard: Yes, yes I see it all now. Brian Clough is Arsene Wenger; Denilson is a dope; English players are the best. I’d better tell the guys on ACLF. Thanks Tony!

    *Shudder*

  18. I dfon’t think we need to worry too much about Villa. I think the ‘Pool are there for the taking.

  19. Bragging Rights –
Nice response. Which part of the rotten woodwork Paulie oozed out of is of no interest; but as a pacifist, leave others to squash the ####er.
It’s like a never ending supply of idiots.. reminds me of a bed i once (almost) slept in in Calcutta… thousands of biting, mindless bedbugs..
btw: Kuyt missed about 4 so easy chances for ‘pool yesterday..but no-one on his back.

  20. I thought Denilson had a poor game yesterday; but so did everyone on the pitch maybe except for Gallas. But what’s with this obsession about Denilson in scapegoating? We had 4 successive 0-0 draws and I didn’t know that DM is reponsible for scoring. How seriously dumb I was. Ahah!, maybe it’s his fault because, if there was Flamini playing in place of Denilson, we’d have won those games, since he must have terrorising either the opposition to submission or our strikers to convert one of those 4 SHOTS ON TARGET into a goal. Poor poor Denilson, always the first to be lambasted by the so-called supporters when things don’t go well, and last to be given credit to when things do go well…

  21. I still agree with Arsene – the more we make an issue of the team’s inability to score, the worse it seems to become. It is not a question of ability, it’s definitely psychological.. The defense is working better the midfield are becoming more creative, we just need one of the strikers to get a goal from open play and like buses I’m sure they’ll start coming in twos and threes.

  22. Let’s put it this way: if you go hours upon hours without scoring a goal, and also go hours upon hours without conceding a goal, then pinning the blame on your defensive midfielder is an exceedingly bizarre thing to do.

I’m not sure I believe this deep down, but the empirical evidence suggests that this team cannot score reliably without Cesc.

  23. Is it time for Howard to go to Dignitas yet, Ponyboy?

  24. Fulham actually played well and a combination of champions league hangover and bewitching bad luck has contributed in failure to score because despite our vastly depleted ranks we still created chances. I am convinced that once someone scores the first goal. The floodgates will open.Every team is entitled to a bad day at the office and thats all it was. Bring on W.B.A

  25. That’s being rather kind, Pz..
PSB – think he’s outlived his usefulness though.

    * * * *

    Bloody Villa..

  26. This typifies our season this year. Villa just scored against Stoke through Petrov. He took a shot just inside the 18 and it was straight at the keeper. Instead of saving it the Stoke keeper was guessing far corner and so was going the wrong way. The ball went in after missing him by inches. If Van Persie or any of our strikers had shot they would have hit the keeper in the face and the pundits would be raving about the excellent save. Instead us are now leading and look likely to increase the gap on Arsenal.

  27. California Gooner

Well, I think the debate — if we can even call it that — between the Wenger-haters and the rest is whether Aresenal’s current form represents the level of the team (mid-table) or is a temporary issue. I would say we are a top, top team currently playing like a mid-table cup. I agree that the current inability to score goals is really poor and that it could see us miss out on the champions league place. But any comparison with mid-table clubs (outside of the current standings) makes that claim seem ridiculous. Even taking the example of Villa — a good club.

We a lot of injuries, lost some key players who probably should have been replaced, and have at times just played poorly. Two out of three of those problems will fix themselves, hopefully well before the season is over. If Arsene sees he made a mistake and makes a couple of astute purchases.

Of course I don’t like how we are currently playing, but it seems clear that a few small changes/adjustments will see us flying high again in the league. As for the Champions league, as Liverpool have shown, taking maximum points is not so important as not conceding goals. So we may really do well there.

  28. ManU play Fulham and Schwarzer lets in a howler.

Arsenal play Fulham and Schwarzer makes 4 decent saves.

Villa play Stoke and Sorensen lets one under his body.

Our luck will turn at some stage.

  29. Gris Gris – Freudian slip……. the ‘us’ ?

  30. Alex Ice Cream

    California,

I agree. The CL is littered with teams who don’t concede many goals as winners. Maybe we can be the team that is having their worst season in years domestically that finds redemption in Europe.

We need Eddy back now. It was no coincidence despite the fact that it was Cardiff we looked more dangerous with Eddy in the team. His link-up play and awareness as well as his goals ar what we miss.

  31. Alex Ice Cream

    Matty,

Thierry Henry once said that a good shot gives the keeper no chance.

Our finishing has been utterly woeful. We needed a penalty to score against Roma after hammering them.

  32. Villa just put another past stoke. It looks more and more difficult now. Unless Villa cockup big time, our only hope for making it to next years CL is to win this year’s. And I have a feeling we might well do it this time.

    Up the Guns!

  33. Is it true Stoke weren’t given a clear penalty against Villa?

  34. Stoke equalised apparently!

  35. Watch out for a miraculous extra time penalty that wins Villa the game.

  36. Frank's biggest fan

    2-2.

    Come on Stoke.

  37. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  38. O’ Neill has lost the plot.

  39. twotouchmiracle

    HAHAHAAH!!!
    YES!
    YES!YES!

  40. I jinxed Villa 😀

  41. Frank's biggest fan

And all you nutters didn’t see Villa drop a single point..Hahaha…

  42. twotouchmiracle

yeah at 1-0 with webb as match official i turned the game off

  43. Was that the final score FBF – is Villa’s luck starting to turn?

  44. blimey ! Stoke 2 goals in last 4 mins to get a draw.

Maybe that was the change of luck that I was talking about …….

Alex Ice Cream – I hear you mate, our finishing has let us down. But it won’t always be the case.

  45. @Muntazir,

well done – keep jinxing Villa!!!!!

  46. Finally some luck! What an awesome strike by Whelan! Some comeback that was by Stoke. We are still 6 points from villa. Our goal difference is 13 while theirs is 15. We need some big wins now to put pressure on them. We can do this.

  47. Who saw the game? Was their a penalty for Stoke that wasn’t given?

  48. I didn’t see that coming.

  49. Frank's biggest fan

It is FT, Passenal. And Villa (like Manyoo, like Liverpool) always have the refs on their side, it’s no secret. True thaat Coward Webb was a coward yet again. The amount of anti-arsenal refs beggars belief, aint it?

  50. Villa need a big centre half and a proper defensive midfielder.

O’Neill is the new Clough signing all these so called talented English players when he should be signing exceptional foreign talent. Like Denilson.

His persistence wiyth Petrov is costing his team CL football next season.

  51. Frank's biggest fan

    My Earlier prediction:

    15 points

  52. our weekend just got better, i’m off for a celebratory glass of vino.

    COME ON ARSENAL !

  53. What was your prediction for our games Fbf ? … by the way.. good ditty earlier

  54. Alex Ice Cream

I must admit that I didn’t see that coming. This lets us off the hook a little after yesterday. With a 6 point difference we are still there.

We have to punish Villa now as there will be no more chances.

  55. The tide is turrrningggggg………..

  56. Frank's biggest fan

Muppet, ours came close to 25 points. Worst case scenario would be 22 points. Any way, I believe we could put a better show and get around 28 points. It would be around 22-28 points for us. But I don’t see Villa get more than 15-18 points. It’s close, but I suspect we will get the 4th spot because of the quality, and freshness we have. Cesc, Eduardo, Adebayor, Theo, Rosicky returning back fresher and fitter. On the other hand, Villa’s reliance on same set of players would cost them dearly. And like last year, they might fade towards the end, and perhaps even Everton could finish above them.

  57. Pity that one of Man Poo and the Totts have to win. How much would I love a draw and no winner!

But it’s great news for us. The game is in extra time and Man Poo will suffer some fatigue. Hope that affects them in the league.

  58. Cheers Fbf. 33 points will do !

  59. FBF,

looking at Villa’s fixtures , they dont look easy.

Villa’s bad run continues!! They are on the slide.

  60. Extra time and penalties maybe? I like it! Shame one of those two have to win, like you say Ole!

  61. AIC –

it’s nice to see you being hopeful about the remainder of our season. We need to transmit positive vibes to the team as much as possible!
(I’m honestly glad! – not sarcastic)

  62. …excellent….drip by drip we make our way forward….in three games time we will be neck and neck with Veeellaa and breathing down the necks of the Scousers…and then who knows..

…there are some real Arsenal supporters on here never waivered once in their support or tried to blame players when the luck is against them….

….it is a great day to be a real Arsenal supporter….

…gooner?….who cares …I hate most gooners after yesterday….want nothing to do with the f*ckers….the term is dead to me….

  63. Yay! Villa f*ck up too! They rested the first team, threw away the Uefa Cup, then drop points to Stoke. How f*cking funny is that!!!

I seriously thought it was all over. It still might be, of course. But hopefully, the pressure’s getting to them.

Incidentally, Ponyboy, there are plenty of Liverpool fans on Kuyt’s back.

YW: I gave up on ATVO after 3 minutes of watching a series of still pictures, and found a much more watchable stream showing Fox Sports.

  64. Wow, leave the house to run some errands and now Stoke have managed a draw! Hooray! I guess there was something to that slip Ponyboy!

Let’s hope this is a turning point of sorts!!!

  65. Alex Ice Cream

    FBF,

I hope you are right. I refuse to talk about the ****** League or whatever bollox its now called.

We still have 11 games to go but will play more games than Villa due to other competitions. With 33 points available we can still do this.

We need to start scoring though. Now.

  66. Penalties!

    Prediction. The totts win.

  67. Giggs scores, O’Hara misses.

  68. Tevez scores, Corluka scores

  69. Frank, dont let your hate turn to anger.

  70. Ronaldo scores, Bentley misses!

  71. If Anderson scores, Man poo win!

  72. Anderson wins it!

  73. twotouchmiracle

    bentley misses!!!!! hhahahahah

  74. Happy to see the totts lose, gutted to see the mancs win!

  75. this day keeps getting better.

  76. Hope they go on and get relegated now, those totts.

  77. ‘Arry rests his first team, throws away the Uefa Cup, and ends up empty-handed!! Ha-ha.

  78. Bentley missed a pen and the Spuds lost. All of a sudden the weekend gets all shiny ! Cue second glass of vino.

  79. Reasons to feel cheerful:

    1. Walcott back in training tomorrow

    2. Villa drew

    3. Spuds lost

    4. Liverpool lost

    5. Rosicky back soon

    6. Eduardo back very soon

    7. Fabregas back soon

    8. Adebayor back very soon

  80. Agree with Muppet!!!!

  81. Bentley misses! That is so fantastic – I wonder if his only fan will be on here this week? (still hate that the mancs won though marginally the lesser of two evils by a whisker!)

  82. Amen Muppet

  83. Fucking hell – I’m sitting here pissing myself laughing ove the Spuds and Bentley ( £15 million = 1 fluke goal and a missed penalty!) thinking that Villa had won, come on ACLF and find out that they threw away a win in the last 2 minutes. Maybe the pressue is going to get to them after all.

A very good day to be a Gooner.

  84. …don’t be silly, DG…anger and hatred are very valuable tools…..provided the resulting action is cold and clinical…..cold….and clinical….

…..the little Sunlets have been out in force this weekend feeding off the rotting carcass of Arsenal support…..they will be remembered for some time to come…..

  85. aintnobodyworryin

Wohoo, thanks alot Stoke, its still not over!

Frank, why do you feel people criticizing Arsenalplayers are not real fans. Should we not be able to speak our mind, even though it is not always positive? I think that a few of our platers are too weak for our squad, and I have no problem putting my views forward. I base it upon what I see, and give reasons for my views. It is really naive to be overly positive to this squad. I know complaining will not change anything, but damn, discussing football is half the fun of being a supporter. It would be dull if everybody was positive and never seeing anything wrong with our team(just blaming bad luck, injuries and poor refereeing).

  86. French Gooner

    Hi guys,

I usually don’t post but I had to say this :

This 2-2 draw against Stoke will have the same effect on Villa, as ours against Birmingham on us last year.

I know it’s a bit all doom and gloom today but in three games time it will be the contrary :

We are going to beat West Brom while Villa are going to lose against Man City.

We are going to qualify for the quarter-final of the FA cup and of the CL.

In ten days even Howard will be happy.

  87. …I would not call myself that, Marc…if I were you….

  88. Passenal – I just can’t see Manu doing the quadruple – so if they are going to win something other than the PL (Pretty much in the bag now) I want them to win the Youth Team, sorry Mickey Mouse, sorry League Cup (Got there in the end).

Let us have the FA cup maybe even the CL.

  89. Oh yes Marc, they will not win all 4 trophies, we will stop them in at least two!

  90. I think that I’m right in saying that the Spuds only mananed to win 3 league games after winning the LC last year. If todays result has a negative impact on moral they might just go down. They have Middlesborough on Wednesday – lose that and they are right back in it.

  91. Passenal – I could live with that!

  92. …well, sillyname….you obviously did not attend the game yesterday where the players were quietly booed off at half-time….NB was booed when he came on…and 30000 ‘gooners’ booed the players off at the end……I might add by people who did not sing a f*cking note of support all game….on most sites the criticism of players is stupid and inane….usually extraordinarily ignorant…and puts the Sun and its hag sisters to shame…it is never…and I mean never balanced by positive supporting comments…….but if you feel the need to let us know how badly you think the players played and you think that will help resolve the crisis in support this club has then fine….and if you think that the players will benefit from your knowledge…..we will all sit back and read it…..fire away….

  93. David Bentley, Arsenal hero. For all the wrong reasons, but hero no less.

  94. Are you no longer a gooner then frank??

  95. Good post anbw.

  96. did Bentley cry?

  97. French Gooner – bravo.

  98. Ole Gunner – I think that there are very few ex Arsenal players that are universally disliked by the fans. Anelka, Cashley and Bentley are currently 3 of them. Not because they left but because either the way they left or the fact that once they had gone they couldn’t stop snipping at their former club. Bentley’s ego has always been way beyond his ability. He was going to be playing CL football – that’s how good he is. Looks more like Championship football at the moment.

  99. Frank's biggest fan

I hate Cristiano Ronaldo as much as Bentley, if not a lot lot more. F*ck Manyoo. In addition to being a pay check club, bankrolling refs is the proven way to success..For Manyoo

  100. aintnobodyworryin

The name is taken from Anthony Hamilton, a great soulsinger that you might want to check out, but then again, maybe soul isn’t exactly your thing; it being all moody and dark and not the half full-type of music…

Your way of supporting the team is obviously far superior to mine, and being positive and naive around here is what is politically correct, so I don’t want to bore you with writing again what I wrote yesterday.

Regarding people booing; I think booing an individual player is unfair, but showing unhappiness with the team after the game is OK in my eyes. Maybe not all that constructive, but maybe it actually can motivate the players in to actually looking like they give a fuck and play with some urgency and balls next time.

  101. …no I am no longer a gooner, DukeGoonem…I am only an Arsenal supporter….I no longer want to be associated with that name…gooner….the Sunlet sites and the supporters who boo call themselves ‘gooners’…I want nothing to do with the name….

  102. Marc,

Today he’s a hero. He couldn’t have played a worse penalty if he was deliberately trying not to score.

  103. …really….how utterly, utterly interesting….what if it causes a crisis of confidence in front of goal….

  104. …you see the thing is…I don’t want to have to share a stadium with you…..

  105. Frank – That’s the wrong way to deal with these arseholes. It’s like not allowing the Union Jack or George Cross because it is a symbol of the BNP. That just gives these pricks more license. I am a Gooner and proud. I don’t fuck off they can for I am true.

  106. Stoke, love you!!

    Frank –
Please listen! Ok, wasn’t there, but if you start to hate the ‘crowd’, you will have 1) Have a stroke, or end up doing 15 years with Davebluez.. 2) The word “Gooner” applies to you, us, the lovers, not haters. 3) You’re bringing me down, you old bug*er!! 🙂

  107. Ole Gunner – You mean that he’s some sort of under cover element designed to destroy the Spud’s?

Bit risky trying that again so soon after Alan Sugar!

  108. ….fine, Marc…I am not a gooner and would not be proud of being one…we have seen for some time now what it means….it means to be one of the worst supporters in the Premier League….it means to have the desire to criticse the team in public becuase you think it is your right…it means to call your team lazy…it means to think that booing will motivate your team when it clearly is suffering a crisis of confidence…it means to be jealous of the Mancs and Real Madrid and worse Chelski….it means to think that football is only really about money…either spending millions on players…or worse thinking that value for money is the guiding principle of your support….fundamentally it stinks and has become divorced from real support….

    ARSENAL ARSENAL ARSENAL ARSENAL

  109. …and the right way is to do precisely what….?

  110. Frank – I agree with all you say regarding some of the support but I disagree with you on the best way of dealing with it. As someone commented earlier maybe finishing 5th will get rid of some of these people and allow real fans to get tickets.

  111. Don’t let them get to you. Every time we let it get to us they win. It’s like Howard just tell him to fuck off.

  112. “Regarding people booing; I think booing an individual player is unfair, but showing unhappiness with the team after the game is OK in my eyes. Maybe not all that constructive, but maybe it actually can motivate the players in to actually looking like they give a fuck and play with some urgency and balls next time.”

    Talk about naive…

We have a manager at work who did the same thing and booed his team for not meeting the deadline….you know what happened to him? Got fired, because no one wanted to work for him after that…..Who’s naive now?

So tell us Mr. Sillyname, if your kids are playing against the neighbor’s kids and they don’t win, would you boo your own children to motivate them?

What kind of football discussion in hell is that?

  113. Marc,

    He’s an overcover agent. LOL

And we got paid like £7M for the priviledge of him taking his brand of egoistical crappiness to Shite Hart Lane. Then he loses them the Mickey Mouse Cup.

  114. Alex Ice Cream

    Frank,

Your attack on Ole Gunner yesterday was a disgrace, even for you. I have disagreed with Ole more than most but his loyalty to Arsenal is most definitely not in question.

What gives you the right to pass judgment anyway. Who are you to tell Ole “f*ck off Ole Gunner….you f*cking deserter….” This just pure spite and contradicts your “positive” supporting persona that you take such great pride in. Ole was frustrated after the game like we all were.

Why do you have to be so unpleasant? Its a really ugly attribute.

  115. …OK….you have seen my definition of a gooner….so what is a gooner?….why am I wrong…

  116. …you think that my aim is make people like me, AIC…?

  117. …please feel free to insert ‘to’ wherever you wish…

  118. French Gooner

He, you should all go on a Villa forum to see what they are thinking.
    That’s very funny.

Some think they are going to end up 2nd or 3rd, and some think they are going to end up 6th behind Everton.
Reading what they are thinking really helps to put things in perspective.

  119. G4E –
Seems the only answer is for every Matty, Matt, Frank and Davebluez (and many others who are on here) to keep cheering, to confront the w@nkers, and to gradually make them look pathetic.
Uphill work, i know. But what else is there ? It’s obviously a contagious disease.

  120. Alex Ice Cream

    Frank,

I just thought your attack was undeserved and motivated by malice. I don’t know what your aim is.

  121. Ole Gunner – If we take off the red & white tinted spec’s for a moment it’s going to be quite interesting what happens to the Spud’s over the summer. If they stay up I can see a massive clear out with them losing millions on players that have only recently been purchased, with millions more spent on players until Redknapp has done his 18 months and gets the boot – then the whole merry go round starts again. If they go down it will be the same but with more serious financial results.

    I just can’t understand how:

    i) They can afford to keep doing this.

ii) How do the owners put up with Levy ( He must have some really compromising photo’s or something).

iii) Why the fan’s put up with it. They honestly can’t be the only ones who see that they are a laughing stock.

  122. Ponyboy – Can’t agree more. Just because we are faced by ignorance doesn’t mean that we have to give up the fight.

  123. Yeah, but we like you anyway, Frank. Even when you’re being OTT; that passion is also contagious.

  124. Hi BP, it is a hard work but we have a huge group of Arsenal stalwarts here to offset and defeat that kind of idiotic support we see from time to time.

This is our time to defend and support our players, until they stand back on their feet and turn the tide….and then those “moronic” supporters will disappear in the black cyberspace whole they came from.

  125. Cheers, Marc –
Just noticed am sounding like Howard Hughes..everything is contagious!!!

  126. Am I right in thinking that the league cups UEFA place will now go to the next league position rather than the spuds?

  127. I love the Gunners on this blog! You Guyz just made my day a swell of fun.
I was alone this defending my club in the morning to bunch of kelsky, manure, Broken AC & madrid fans to point that i nearly fall short of words. So angry i forgot to go & play my local club match which was b/w Arsenal Vs kelsky fans in the team.
I refuse to read any footy blog for the fear of what some plastic fans like paulie & fake tim howard will av to say & end up rubbishing fight.

Bragging Rights, Gris Gris & Muppet THANKS to you All.

    Bragging Rights!!!
Upon the love I have 4 Arsenal!
I made You, the REFEREE of this blog.
    Whosoever you send off?
Simply deserve a padding & an early shower.

  128. AIC,

I guess we just let Frank be Frank. In the end we all have our opinions. None is dominant. Some are wrong and we can talk about that. But it’s also easy to just let everyone do their thing.

    By the way:

The more I think about it, the more I realise that the biggest weakness in our team is crossing. If we had 5-8 good crosses per game we’ll be unbeatable.

  129. Ponyboy – Like the man said “Flies spread disease, so keep yours closed”

  130. What’s in a name at the end of the day? What really matters is the quality of our support. It’s easy to support when times are good, but hard times are the true test and a lot of people are failing that test. Unfortunately, it won’t stop them jumping on the bandwagon when we start winning again, but we will know they have not earned that reflected glory. They will kid themselves that their booing and criticizing made the difference, but we will know that they deserted the team in their hour of need. Anything this team achieves will be in spite of rather than because of many of our supporters.

  131. Frank – are you having a f*cking laugh mate?

Why does the name “gooner” mean those things? I swear you better be joking! If the name gooner has become synonymous with things you don’t like, then it’s time to reclaim it. A Gooner means you eat, breath and sleep Arsenal 24/7, and have been doing so for quite some time. It doesn’t belong to the glory hunters and the hangers-on who’ve only been here for 5 minutes, and it doesn’t belong to the drones or the media. Arsenal will be around forever, the “gooners” you despise now will not.

  132. Absolutely true Passenal.

Do you call these Supporters or Opportunists?

  133. Oh Frank!

Arsenal Plays the best type football pleases a good eyesight. And this what made me Gunner since when i cudn’t remember.

    We the Gunners!
    the Gunners!
    the Gunners!
    the Gunners!
    the Gunners!

    the Gunners! ……….

  134. I agree with California, and not just cause I’m from there. This is an extremely tight year. Check out goals scored per game. Way way down. For everyone, including the other top clubs. Defense is way up. Mid-table teams are much tougher than they ever were — witness Fulham.

What I saw yesterday was a few stalwarts who were very tired and need rest — Denilson, the wing-backs (and may both of them swear to foresake crossing the ball for the next 11 games), Van Persie and maybe Nasri. Vela shows he is Theo two years ago. Great, but not the answer at this time.

Statistics show the most effective PK is down the middle, to the space the goalie vacates — why doesn’t anyone do it?

  135. Frank's biggest fan

Unlike other blogs, the posters in ACLF are terrific, real Arsenal supporters.

And of course, Frank is my spiritual guru without doubt…He shares my fervor for the club and biblical with all things Arsenal which I partake. 😀

  136. Passenal – how many times are you going to make me say : “I agree with Passenal” ?
Ok – don’t HAVE to say it, but.. just do, every time!
Think you must be the only woman i’ve never had a disagreement with….

  137. Gunners 4 erver!!!

And I hear a Chorus of Amen!!!!!!!

  138. Frank's biggest fan

Passenal is a complete sweetheart for a bird, I agree.

  139. Best laugh of the weekend, seeing BentleytheUselessPr*t miss that penalty. Seriously. I nearly wet myself.

Anybody remember when he was called the ‘English Bergkamp’ as he was just starting to break through? He never has really has though, has he. What a difference between him and the young stars in our side today.

That’s two teams throwing away the Uefa cup to save their ‘best’ teams for saturday One got a point against Stoke, one got thoroughly demoralised.

Seriously, we are worried about finishing above O’Neill’s team? We have been playing below par, they have been playing above it. That just will not last.

We will finish several points clear of Villa and who knows about the ‘Pool?

Look Frank, there are a lot of true Arsenal fans on here, whatever they call themselves, Red to the core. Like I said last week, don’t let the b*stards grind you down.

  140. Frank's biggest fan

I know lot of people don’t take to AIC. But I’m in peace with him, though not in agreement with most things he says.

  141. Sad day really – when Arsenal FC cannot score goals. Fulham didn’t park the bus, so the excuse for Sunderland was not apparent. Some good finishing might have amde it even worse. The saving grace is Villa’s shock draw today – we can still do it, but we have smaller and smaller margin for error.
We need something fresh, a ‘first goal freddie’ to open things up and make us relax.

  142. Don’t get down, fairweather Fans come and go but we will be here forever. The trophies will arrive eventually, it could be some time, but they will arrive. Ashburton Grove will roar like never heard before, and the 0-0 draws, the 5-1 loss at the Lane, Eduardo’s broken leg… these dark moments will be washed away in a moment of pure elation and triumph greater than you can possibly imagine. That’s what it means to be a Gooner.

  143. Consols –
About the beer..it just came to me..Fremlins. Am trying to get Passenal out of my mind… and beer is related. To erm, something.
    “I agree with Cb!”

  144. Waggling their little d*cks around in the playground doesn’t impress Passenal. She likes real men, Arsenal men.

  145. Joel Cairo

Why? Is because a lot of straight down the middle pk’s, ends up hitting the goalkeeper feet and bounce out of harm.

  146. “Think you must be the only woman i’ve never had a disagreement with….”

    Yet!

  147. Kentish beer, Fremlins, Pb. You might have drunk it in Sussex but it is brewed in Kent.

I was on the Bass at lunchtime. Good pint, Bass.

  148. True enough Blackstock –
It’s the contrasts which make the good days great.

  149. …I agree with Passenal….and so I have dropped the name gooner…I will think of another…and I will refer to myself by that name….and I may use that name to refer to others …..or I might not…at that moment ‘real Arsenal supporter’ will do because it strangely upsets those who I want to upset…

Arsenal Arsenal, Arsenal…..rsenal, Arsenal, Arsenaaa all….Arsenal, Arsenal, Asenal….Arsenal…ARSENAL…clickclickclick

  150. Tastes better in those tiny Sussex pubs though Consols.
    Passenal… that’s a very frightening word! 🙂

  151. Even if we end up playing @ Uefa cup next season. It simply mean adding that laurel to our kitty. Afterall, Ac Milan is on their way 2 uefa again.

  152. Oh and guess what Bucarai, the great FLAMINI couldn’t save them from defeat today?

  153. Villa had an amazing chance today of almost guaranteeing a top 4 spot, maybe even finishing 2nd or 3rd but they blew it in the last two minutes. Only time will tell if it was a one off, bad luck or if the pressure is getting to them.

What I would like to hear is how O’Neil thinks that Villa could get and maintain a top 4 spot while playing CL football if they can’t even cope with wafer cup football with Stoke to follow.

  154. aintnobodyworryin

This blog is my total favorite. Yogi is terrific and always manages to write interesting and insightful pieces.

The comment section is something else. I am by no means ultra negative, and like I’ve said before, it is not doing the team or anyone else any good to be criticizing or bitching, but its what is interesting about football; u get to discuss and argue. And put your thoughts forward.

Here though, it is a group of people coming together to jerk each other off (praising a positive post until the writer comes all over the keyboard), and stand together so morally strong and protect Arsenal against fake fans or dear I say Gooners! And then when the tides turn and the team does well (it will happened eventually) hit themselves on the chest and say “I told you so” while being seated there high above the likes of me, on their white horse.

Why is it so wrong to think that certain players dont deserve to wear our beloved shirt? Why is it wrong to question Wengers choices?

I know that a lot of you think that intellectually, morally and culturally you are better then the booer who stands next to you in the stands or the general poster on Le Grove, but in all seriousness; you are very closed minded and not at all open for any view of your own. Criticizing my choice of name is just pathetic and really just goes to show your real colors.

Yeah, this post got too long and boring, didn’t it.

  155. Yep.

  156. Why say 100 words when 1 will do!

  157. Well, your name is long, anw –
As the great Sufi mystic Rumi said: “Beyond wrong and right, there is a field. I’ll meet you there”.

    And Rumi knows his footie.

Consols!! Help! Am drinking sherry and talking crap…
Passenal; would you put me to cyber-bed please…

  158. While you, of course, will say that you were wrong to slate this team when it comes good. Won’t you?

You can question all you want, that’s what people like you just don’t get. It’s people like us disagreeing with you that you can’t stand because it upsets your cosy little world where you and your mates can feel safe snug in the arms of the world of Arsenal haters. Other blogsites are full of people like that.

Sorry that we aren’t. Tough, isn’t it?

  159. Ponyboy – Could be worse – You could have run out of Sherry!

  160. You must remember to do your off licence run before your curfew kicks in Pb. Just don’t get too much at a time. Cyber bed performance can suffer.

  161. Consolsbob – There’s no such thing as to much.

  162. Well, I was certainly glad to have a good stock in last night I must admit Marc.

  163. “Why is it so wrong to think that certain players dont deserve to wear our beloved shirt? Why is it wrong to question Wengers choices?”

And who are you to judge that certain players don’t deserve to wear the shirt? Because you are a fan? So be it, I also deserve the right to judge you as someone who doesn’t know what the hell you’re talking about….I’m a fan too.

And so what if we congratulate each other on positive posts, views, and having hope? Do you want us to congratulate you on your descent and negativity instead, so you can wa*k yourself to a negative orgasm?

If you’re dishing out the criticism for players, why can’t you take it yourself?

  164. Get a damp cloth handy G4E. I loved your posts last night. You fought the good fight my man.

Did that do it? Is your keyboard still operational?
Or do you need Marc and Pb to say nice things to you as well. Or maybe Passenal?

  165. Good post at 7:32pm CBob, I should have read it before wasting my time.

  166. aintnobodyworryin

Consolsbob, oh how terrible I am.

Again, I’m slating the team, I wasn’t there boing. I said I can understand why people express their unhappiness and I am here saying three players in our squad are not arsenal material in my eyes, and if that makes me an inferior fan in your eyes, then so be it. If Denislon, Song and Diaby in the last games comes out and performs like worldbeaters I will happily come forward and admit that I was wrong. I want the to prove me wrong, but they haven’t for the whole season, so I’m not holding my breath.

  167. Consols and Marc –
Thanks; feel alot better about talking crap now.. sundays in this town often mess up ‘the run’…

There’s nothing much left to say..but atleast am saying/reading people whom i respect (hic).

  168. That’s the thing though isn’t it? Do we ignore the tw*ts who just don’t get it? Or do we engage them in the hope of conversion or at least giving them a good drubbing?

With some it’s easy. Howard springs to mind. AIC though, arguing has brought him closer, I think.

Whatever, One should not just sit by and let the w*nkers ride roughshod over the things we believe in.

For all the likes of ‘long name’ says, it’s not easy staying positive in the face of the barrage of cr*p that descends every time that we don’t wipe the floor with some team.

  169. LOL CBob….no mate, I will keep my keyboard clean, I hate sticky stuff. 🙂

Posts from you guys & girls give me the pleasure of the mind knowing that there are still enough Arsenal fans who think like me out there.

  170. Well argued ‘Aintno..’. Hear, hear!

It’s not personal with me, my friend. I just disagree that being negative does anything to help our team at an undoubtedly difficult time. It would be blo*dy marvelloue if we were flying and scattering all before us. We aren’t.

You say that being positive is pointless. Does criticising have more point? What does it achieve? Tell me.

  171. Consols, sound like you have experience of sticky keyboards..
Longname : C’mon man.. we’re on an up here! Denilson-knockers (dammit Passenal) do get up the old hooter.

  172. It’s threatening to be a rout…Inter Roma with Roma 2 goals up.

  173. That’s the whole thing CBob, were you, me, Passenal, PB, Frank, or the rest not gutted we didn’t win on Saturday? Of course we were, but we have put things where they are.

The whole team didn’t win, not just Denilson, Diaby, or Song. But for some, they have to single out someone to blame, then when you call them on it….they cry complaining they’re being singled out. How funny is that?

  174. My day get better! Barca lost 3-4 to athletico

  175. There’s a whole world of bloggers out there who write whole posts about how we ‘AKB Brigade’, as they call us, are intolerant of criticism of Wenger and the team.

In the next breath, they tell us how stupid we are and what w*nkers we are!

    Irony. It. Get. Don’t. They.

  176. All fans, whatever there club have their favourite players and their scapegoats. What you do not do is constantly slag off the team to all and sundry. The players who seem to get the most grief are either very young and thrown in at the deep end due to injuries or squad players. What do these people want? Arshavin’s rubbish, he’s played 150 minutes and hasn’t scored 5 goals. Fucking hell what a waste of £12 million, we should have spent £100 million on Kaka and £50 million on Messi (to sit on the bench as back up) they would have won the league after 2 games and would never get injured. What sort of fucking idiot runs a football team to be financially self sufficient?

  177. I am certainly intolerant of a lot of criticism against Wenger. Most of it is absolute utter shite.

  178. Behind your obviously educated mind Pb, there lurks a naughty schoolboy. Fascinating people on here.

I would love to sit round a table in a pub sometime with (most) of you.

  179. Righteous Marc. Righteous. I am sure that Paul N would agree with me.

Just interested Ole, what criticism of Wenger isn’t shite? That’s not a trap.

  180. wenger knows better than his critics. so f***ck em

  181. Cbob – each one seems to need different ‘treatment’. Howard is beyond help; the ones who pop up after a draw (loss!) are unworthy, but some, like AIC are becoming a decent read, mostly. AKB brigade …. ffs! That is another nasty appellaton; fact is – he obviously does.. so-called fans blame him for this or that, but what is he supposed to do about the ball hitting the post/ great saves etc etc.
Dammit, i was happy in the haze of a drunken hour.. and even that great beast we call Frank has gone snuffling to bed..
Sometimes one feels one is on a permanent loop. Atleast some new cool people came on this evening.

  182. Bucarai – you! Thanks, brother!

  183. Consolsbob – It’s too late. You can try to be nice to me but reasonable, sane Marc is gone. I have been reborn. Howard is right! David Dein was right (why would he lie? He was only caught trying to sell the shares of other board members without their knowledge). The only way forward is to sack Wenger (what has he ever done for the club anyway?), appoint someone who has a large box of matches and set fire to £200 million in the Emirates car park. This demonstration of financial irresponsibility will have ManU, Liverpool, Chelsea, Real Madrid and the Spud’s cowering in fear.

Only then will we be taken seriously as a football club.

  184. What a sad bunch of Arsene arse lickers you lot are, I bet not too many of you were there yesterday when 40,000, yes forty thousand plus fans booed off the shit that now plays for us and more importantly booed Wenger and called for him to step aside. Long overdue but welcome at last. This man is destroying our great club and I now speak for the vast majority when I make the call for him to stand down. I doubt it will happen however as this obnoxious liar is way to greedy to give up 5 million a year, where else in world football would he survive, all the top clubs require the manager to win things so this rules Wenger out. I notice some joker earlier answered me with a list of runner up honours we’ve racked up under Wenger in the last 5 years as if it was supposed to fucking mean something, sadly the prizes are only given out for winning you clown. When did we attract a bunch of losers as fans, Im certain 99% of you nerds have never even set foot inside the emirates so you know how seriously real life fans take your opinions, LOL…….

  185. Have noticed how many w@nkers have an- ie at the end of their names.

  186. Ad use the acronym LOL …. sad… P1ss off, sh1thead.

  187. Paulie – You are a fucking moron. Firstly the majority of Arsenal supporters do not want Wenger out. Secondly Real Madrid would take him in a second.

  188. Paulie,

Arsene Knows. Greatest Manager in the world.

  189. Bragging Rights Ltd

This guy is worse than Howard, PSB & co. Open the window someone. This dude’s got violent diarrhoea – and it’s stinking up the place:

“This man is destroying our great club and I now speak for the vast majority when I make the call for him to stand down.”

Urgh, I think I just got some on my fingers. It’s all lumpy. Wait a sec, what’s that? The remnants of prawn, mayo and wholemeal bread? Yuk. Better wash it off.

  190. Paulie Walnuts

Just a thought on the poor crossing comments of late – we`ve never really been a crossing team under AW & don`t get enough people in the box when we do put one in.

Even Ade & Nik B seem reluctant to make an effort to get into the box at times.

We`ve got a squad of passing players & unless a cross is right on the button (like AA to RVP yesterday) then it`s just a way of conceding possession.

A lot of fans get frusrated & want the ball to go into `the mixer` but he haven`t got the personnel to play that way.

  191. Paulie Walnuts

Just seen Paulie`s comments – please note that I am Paulie WALNUTS

  192. Poorly old Paulie. Sad case. Once an Arsenal supporter who celebrated two doubles under Wenger. Once a man proud to wear the red and white.

Now a poor deluded fool who thinks he is in the majority and thinks the greatest manager in the world is ‘greedy’. This man who is one of the few football managers who you would be happy to see in your own home. No treatment available it seems apart from appointing Mourinho as manager and spending tens of millions on players who are big centre halves and defensive midfielders.

Sadly, as unrealistic a treatment as the patient is foolish.

  193. Paulie – Arsene knows a damn site more than you do.

  194. Just when things were POSITIVE, we get a tw@t who thinks buying a Season Ticket makes him special..
Agree Bragging Rights, this apology of a ‘fan’ makes one want to kill. No reasoned argument, no awareness that our best players are injured, no memory of how AW turned the club around.. nothing but nastiness, negativity and cr@p.
You disgust me. Go and support ManUre if winning is what matters; pr1ck.
Fuc#ed up my mellow evening aswell, you joyless – – Ugh…can’t be bothered. Back into your little hole, tiny tot.

  195. Walnuts.. don’t worry.. you and he come from different worlds, man.

Passenal : Have to disagree… 🙂 site should be sight..

  196. Actually BRL he is not much different from Howard

“This man is destroying our great club and I now speak for the vast majority when I make the call for him to stand down.”

So, I think a “F*ck Off Paulie” will do just fine.

  197. Pb. You are a genius at writing ‘banned’ words without writing ‘banned’ words.

Did you go on a course, or should that be a ‘coarse’?

  198. Bragging Rights Ltd

It’s nothing too grave, PB. Our friend Paulie just needs to change his diet. Spuds should do the trick for a person with his constitution.

  199. I prefer Howard.

  200. Maybe you are right BGL, maybe if we appointed ‘Arry, that would help. Then we could sign Keene, Bentley, Chimbonda, Defoe and Downing and be a contender again.

It might be a bitter pill to swallow but if it helps a fellow fan recover from years of underachievement under that loser wenger, then it’s worth a try.

  201. Yes..G4E – a f-ck off should do the trick, but would rather not have to write his ghastly name.

Consols; ever since Yogi moderated me for saying cr@p, am more aware.

Right, last of the sherry amongst the mellow people.. that tw@t made me angrier than Howard ever could…
    Chillin’….

And, just to keep it cool…
    “Everywhere we go-o
    We get slandered – libelled ;
Here words i never heard in the bible….”

  202. I think we will win at WBA, its long overdue.

I love CL but Europa cup would not be a disaster.

    Nevertheless, the faith must continue.

We are in this long dark tunnel and there is a glimpse of some light at the end. Unfortunately it is usually closer the end, that many lose the faith.

I love our away games…..i have so much more faith that we can win, except at Boro

  203. The result was disapointing to say the least, yet the starting 11 wouldve been the one Id hoped to see, yet, the goal never happened.

But can you imagine how we’d feel letting a 2 goal lead slip? Loads worse IMO. Thank youn Stoke!!!

I was more pissed off with the attitude of the ‘fans’ around me. As if singing is something to be sneered At! They sat there in stoney effin silence and the only noise they made was booing at the final whistle. I spose we should be thankful they lasted out til then and didnt boo before that! Wankers!

  204. Passenal : Have to disagree… site should be sight..

D’oh! See I told you it would happen!

  205. Let’s just hope it’s a once in a lifetime event, Passenal…

  206. Plastic Mac –
Did happen, against the spuds…and remember the vitriol after that game ?
Wonder if the Villains will take up boo-ing ?

  207. Lets get this straight shall we. people who boo and moan and get on players backs at the ground are not good fans. but people who post true but negative comments about the team are not the same. At the moment our team is playing poorly and it is normal for people to talk about it. F*ck injuries the team we put out against fulham should have won so why get pissed when people point this out.

We have all seen fever Pitch..no one could say that he wasnt a true fan and he was as pessimistic as you can get. but you know what.. he is a typical Fan.

  208. So you’re interested in Sufism, Ponyboy?

  209. Just a quick question:

Is it just me or did Sagna look out of gas on Saturday? I’m worried, although I believe Eboue is a very capable deputy..

  210. Frank's biggest fan

Missus is out of town…But Im high…and want to fling myself….I might as well run nude like De niro in The deer huner….hahaha

  211. Paulie; So, were you one of those 40000 wankers then? I doubt it, coz I seriously doubt you even go to games, you are serial blog doom monger and a shite cut copy and paste one and that. At least some add a bit of humour to their bile, you are just full of it, you’re the fucking loser, you sad inadequate..

Right now, the team needs the supporters to get behind the team, regardless of wht we think of some of the players, I aint too enamoured by a few in the squad, but what the fuck is booing em gonna do? Coz that shit is really gonna help innit?

We have got all effin summer to slate the manager, team, board, tea lady, if you feel the need, but fuck me! We might even have won a bleedin cup by then! Bet that’ll really stick in your throat.

I support the club, regardless who plays for us, or manages us and IO definitely dont support a growing number of our so called shite home support… Cant wait for the next away game so I can sing up and not feel like Im doing something effin wrong.

  212. It’s the booing, ToughCookie. It’s emotionally tiring.

  213. Roma scored 3 at Inter then conceded 3…good sign we can score there.

  214. Well, PZ, actually am a Hindu… But of all branches of Islam, find Sufism the most attractive.

  215. Bragging Rights Ltd

    DG,

Back in 1989 they didn’t have the internet – well they did, but there weren’t Arsenal blogs. Just like this financial crisis is believed to be worse because of modern communication spreading the gloom, the problem Arsenal has with fans is exacerbated because sphincters like Paulie can’t help but drop payloads of festering turd on internet forums when things are not going well. It adds to a general atmosphere of negativity and it brings the team down. All this when the team needs optimistic support more than ever.

  216. G4E makes you wonder, which is better 0-0 or 3-3? Not conceding is important and we have only scored 8 goals less than man u.

  217. Plastic Mac,

That’s exactly how I see it. You support the team like mad. You let the season play out. If we end up with nothing, then you can go crazy when the season is over.

I think it’s insane to undermine the team during the season.

And I am curious. Does anyone remember a team being under pressure from media and fans for as long as this team has been. Since October, every Arsenal game has been treated as some kind of title decider.

4 months later the team is still swimming against the current.

  218. Inter Milan look a poor team to me. I hope they beat the mancs. That way they eliminate an actual contender, they not being contenders themselves.

  219. Thanks Poliz..

  220. I definitely take not conceding Passenal, because then at least you have the confidence that you will not lose. The goals will come because we are creating the chances.

  221. Ponyboy; Please dont remind me of the spud game fella! Took me weeks to get over that. My point about letting a 2 goal lead slip was a refernce to what Villa did today! (I think they let a 2 goal lead slip anyway)

  222. OG – totally agree… have a sneaky fear the Mancs might just get the quadruple.. please no!!

  223. Ponyboy,

fear not – because we’ll win FA and CL!!!!!

  224. Plastic Mac – you eating more pasta these days ? 🙂

  225. ToughCookie… It’s no more than we deserve. Went on a wooden rollercoaster once, and felt sick for hours… sometimes this season has ben like that. Thanks for the mainline positivity !!

  226. Plastic. Weren’t you on here a day or so ago moaning?

Duke. Being a pessimist in those days was different.

First, there was no readily available means of spreading gloom like there is today. Second, it was a joke amongst friends. Third, we were pretty ordinary and had been for some time.
Fourth, you have been moaning for as long as you have been posting.

Oh. and fifth, it was a work of fiction.

  227. Im off to Roma next week too! Gonna check out the place for when we come back in May!

  228. (shh..to be honest, I sobbed myself to sleep last night…shh….)

  229. Consols;

What the f**k has that got to do with anything? I was expressing my opinion on Eboue, a player i DONT RATE

  230. Have you recovered from your time in hospital now, ToughCookie?

  231. Tough Cookie… now everyone’s going to fall in love with you!

k – headache kicking in… fantasies to fantasise about.

  232. wERENT SPOSED TO POST YET!

  233. oR THEN EITHER! Bloomin caps lock.

I dont rate Eboue, but have never booed him or any player for that matter. but I dont get what you are getting at? So, I cant support my team and not rate a player?

Or are you the yang to Paulie’s Ying? Where everything is super dooper and anyone who even dares to critique or express their own opinion is lambasted and given grief?

  234. You’re a good goat, Ponyboy; as lustful as a Satyr, but a good fellow nevertheless.

  235. Poliz,
    you’ve got a good memory!
I’m Okay now, just still feeling a bit weak..

  236. Bob; I know you didnt give me stick, but in my reply I was referring to the shit I got yesterday for daring to show my feelings about Eboue.

  237. Blimey, bit sensitive aren’t we Plastic? Methinks thou dost protest too much.

Like I said to someone earlier, it’s not personal with me. I just like to back our team all the time.

I am one of those who like Eboue too.

I like TC too, but she is absolutely shameless.

  238. Anyone watching MotD2?? The hilariously OTT commentary of that clown Pearce, goin on and on and on with himself about how Villa were gonna get CL football when Carew scored the 2nd goal!!! Hahahaha! Brilliant… And Villa letting a 2 goal lead slip like that will rwally fuck their confidence.

Oh and the Villa ‘fans’ booed their tream off too! Haha!

  239. She’s got you on a string Pz. Be very careful.

“I’m Okay now, just still feeling a bit weak..”

    That girl is something else.

  240. Bob; Like I said, it was more a response to the shite I got yesterday, I have no idesa what the ‘doth protest’ comment is about?

  241. he bullshit of Hansen & co. Making excuses for Villa and saying what a magnificant season they are having…yadda yadda… Yep, go out of the Uefa cup and FA cup and at a crucial time of the season drop 2 points and let a 2 goal lead slip…

  242. Bit of Shakespeare, Plastic. I was just suggesting that your sensitivity tended to suggest that you had perhaps been of the moaning persuasion.

If you are not, and you have not sounded that way to me tonight, then try not to jump down people’s throats when they ask a question.

I the best of all possible worlds we are all Arsenal on this site.

    ARSENAL! ARSENAL! ARSENAL!

  243. Bob; I may be a sensitive soul fella. And I tend to jump in without thinking. Ive been upand down this season due to indifferent results, coupled with an ultra negative media and the crap support we’ve had this year.

I know we are sposed to be all Gooners here, but I find it difficult to relate to some.

  244. Bob,

Sorry did you say I have been moaning as long as i have been posting??

  245. I always knew Bentley would do well for Arsenal.

  246. Bentley has really shown what a quality player he si aint he? Sooooo glad we got rid, and to think we’ve made about £8m and the spuds had to give us a large chunk of that!

  247. So the Villa fans booed their team off aswell..have they now got the worst fans or is it still us??

  248. Haha! Yeah, but I doub the media will even mention it.

I seriously think they have fucked it. BUT we have to start winning our games, starting with WBA!

  249. Thats what happens when some spoiled brats gets to the top 4 even for 5 minutes they boo their players. Pressure is on A.Villa to hold on to that spot and the question is can they handle it ?
I heard there was a final at Wembley today. Who won it Coventry? I don’t need an answer its a bit of sarcasm.I just can’t stand the carling cup its a very annoying competition.

  250. .

  251. just checking my gravatar

  252. G4E- You like it?

  253. testing

  254. hmm i’ve made 4 posts in the past 2 days none them appeared.

  255. Did ya a huge favour, we reckon . Now go get that 4th spot you louts. You deserve it for the football you play. Cheers lads.

  256. I find it funny but it seems to me that Jay Simpson is the player Arsenal could do with at the moment. He’s not a flair player but with the kind of midfield we have he could be doing for us what Ian Wright did years ago. I bet that in the last ten games given the sort of delivery the other players make Jay Simpson would have averaged one goal in every two games.

  257. Late again … been off line since Sunday. And I wanted to say Frank I know how you feel and I share your utter dismay at the booing of the team. Do not give up my brother, OK. NOW IS NOT THE TIME.

Secondly, the difference between 0-0 and 1-0 is about point zero of a milli-something. How easily the last 4 draws could have been 1-0, all of them! Do we miss Dudu and Ade, Cesc and Rosicky, sure we do. Does it hurt, sure it does.

    Get over it!!

On Saturday we had 4 clear chances and we continue to make clear chances. Did you guys see that the 2 passes that might have been RvP goals came from … Arshavin. The guy is magic! He is the assassin.

Are we still in with a real chance of two cups and 4th or 3rd in the PL? Sure we are. Do we really have our 5 world class players, including 2 strikers, 2 wide players, and the best midfielder in the world returning from injury in a few weeks. Sure we do.

Did Totts lose, tee-hee. Sure they did. Come on you Gunners and Gooners!!! Come on Frank!!

Did Villa draw? Sure they did.

Is Howard a crass blankhole? Sure he is, along with a couple of thousand idiots who give this team a bad name (not the other way round).

Keep it real, guys and gals, keep it real.

    AFRICA LOVES THE GUNNERS!!

  258. Hey Stoke Lad,

    Too true, too true.
Come on Stoke!! We love ya!

  259. Hey Le Gunner….cool Avatar man. I do like it.

  260. Good post ZipPaul…

    The Gunners love Africa too.

  261. zimpaul… am with you thanks for keeping the African flag flying high.

I live in Nigeria so easily share your sentiments.

I hope the “good guys” will not abandon the team to the “bad guys” and will be there to cheer them to counter the booing!

  262. what baffles me is the rle the gunners think their booing is going to archeive; rather than back the team till the end of the season and see how it pans out.

why do gunners rather believe it is only arsenal that can drop points and no one else?

As far as it is mathematically possible, I back the team to finish in the highest position, which is 1at for now. the league does not end on 27 games!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so villa ended up drawing yesterday, was it usual for villa to drop a 2-goal advantage? but they did because if football, anything can happen like Liverpool losing to boro… am sure if any gunner had predicted that before it happened, he would have been booed and abused and all else.

There is nothing wrong with the midfield are they ones not converting chances? So leave eboue, denilson, diaby and co alone

  263. Too right Team Spirit …
Eboue is just fine, Diaby is cool, Denilson is magic and I like Song a lot too, these guys are still 20/21 years old (except Eboue) and Denilson and Song have held the team together this season with almost all the flair players missing. 15 games unbeaten.

  264. …I have not given up, Zimpaul…I would have thought that was obvious…beautiful day in London today…a great day to be a real Arsenal supporter….now is the time to keep our nerve and stand behind the team…actually for many of us that time was a long time ago…but it is not too late for some to start….

…I know a lot about the Baggies so I am looking forward to tomorrow evening….wiithout the burden of home support….I think the team will do very, very well…no doubt loads of ‘gooners’ will want to put the boot in to the team today and tomorrow…who needs the Daily Mail when you have Arsenal blogsites….pathetic…

  265. Never doubted it Frank.

You are one of the reasons I visit this site.

  266. ZimPaul,

Dude, very nice thoughts, but heres the reality,

    Eboue – Terrible

Diaby – Could be good if he stayed injury free and worked very very hard.

    Denilson – Painfully average

    Song – Shite

    Thats the Troof

  267. Arse21 you missed one..

    Arse21 – Shite

  268. Oh no, Arse 21, you seem to like this site and no one can understand why. I think deep down you love Arsenal. OK. When it all comes down you’ll be singing praises to Denilson and Song. I know this will be true and we’ll have a laugh about it. I won’t hold it against you. In the meantime take a deep breath.

  269. In the words of Arsebloger today “look at what’s happened in Spain. Barcelona were walking away with the league. They were unstoppable, playing brilliant football, and had opened up a 12 point lead over Real Madrid. Just a couple of weeks later that gap is now just 4 points and anything can happen from there”

    We sure can do it.

Sending all the positive vibes here from Pakistan.

    Up the Guns!

  270. Hey Muntazir, you a star, greetings from Zimbabwe to Pakistan, via Arsenal.
    Come on Arsenal.

  271. Muntizar,

    I missed another –

    Muntizar – Stinky

  272. Thanks ZimPaul, same to you. You are a legend.

    ARSENAL! ARSENAL! ARSENAL!

  273. Muntizar, Zimpaul, my brothers in Arsenal.

  274. yeah greetings from Nigeria to Pakistan too. well done there.

Frank and the gang (is that a musical band? LOL) keep the gunner positives flags on the home front flying guys

  275. I was at the game on Sat, the team were SO SO bad.

Nasri had his monkey head on.

    Arshavin looks qualty though.

  276. TEAM SPIRIT,

    I’ve written a song –

    Wrong, Wrong
    Everything is Wrong, Wrong,

    Wrong, Wrong
    Everything is Wrong, Wrong,

    Wrong, Wrong
    Everything is Wrong, Wrong,

    Wrong, Wrong
    Everything is Wrong, Wrong

  277. Boyakka !!!

  278. …………… G…..o…o….d……………..m….o…r….n….i….n…g………..F…..r…..a…..n…..k

  279. Right! Remember, Arse21 is a retard, so nobody is allowed to bully him.

  280. Poliziano,

    Retard?….Nice choice of words

  281. …and in 19 days , all the doubters will become “believers “again and AW their God!

    I beg thee
    Re-attach your nutsacks
    Kill the booing
    It’s crunch time now.
    Support is crucial

    A-R-S-E-N-A-L!!!!!!!!!!!

  282. Arse21 you are late for school…

Our midfield are fine…. our fowards need to start shooting

  283. f4phantomphreak

Look I truly believe that AW knows he’s made some mistakes, but being an American Gooner since 1979 I believe he should be given the benefit of the doubt. I know he wants his youngsters too shine through, and I believe they will, maybe not all of them like Bendtner or Denilson, but ‘ya never know do you. I’m sick of the AW haters on these boards, and how quick do we forget the past 12 years under AW, would you rather have GG back?? I for one wouldn’t and I believe none of you would either. So lets pull our pants up and tighten in the ropes and get on with the next 11 games, Villa WILL stumble and Cesc and the gang will previal in the CL spots, ‘ya gotta believe people. Oh and Charlie George is the man, gotta love the George meister!!
    Ohhh Ahhh

  284. everyone tals here about our 15 or so games unbeaten run but this is not wat we expected sometimes i chose to be beaten by spurs 3 weeks ago, liverpool a few months back. but despite our loss if we had managed to grind the victory against sunderland and fulham and then westham we have been just 2 points behind villa at this moment.
but i still have hope still think we can do it

  285. GO GUNNERS!!
