Wigan-er Get Back To Winning Ways, Eboooue & More

Wigan roll into town today for the start of a run of fixtures that Arsenal will be looking to take maximum points from, the difficult start having been negotiated with less success than Arsene would have probably been looking for. At the start of the season, his nightmare scenario would doubtless have been three away defeats on the spin. The obvious high expectation from the manager would be three but realistically, he looked and thought that one defeat was acceptable.

Two puts pressure on the team but not damagingly so. This season has to be different from those before at The Emirates. Previously we have succumbed to draws which should have been win or the odd defeat or two against lesser opposition. Those results have to stop. United have won the league for the past couple of seasons on the basis of a phenomenal home record matched by a decent season away – not exceptional and not much above the average a top four side should expect.

Arsenal now has to make the step up at home. Beating teams below sixth is where the title is won and lost. We have struggled at times with this criteria. It has to change now, a fact that Arsene acknowledged yesterday:

[We can make up ground] on one of the two [Manchester clubs] or both. It’s a very good opportunity. We learn two things [from losing both games in Manchester]: that we have the potential to fight for the Championship and we did not make enough of the opportunities we had to deliver points and that puts us under pressure to deliver at home.

Starting today as well. Wigan have been problematical opponents in the past but always overcome eventually. Well, except for a turgid goalless draw on a furrowed pitch at the JJB two seasons ago. With new manager Roberto Martinez at the helm, they are trying to play more football, losing the directness of Steve Bruce’s era. It backfired spectacularly at home to United but for this game, we should expect them to defend and defend. An early Arsenal goal would definitely help on that score, requiring Wigan to attack. For confidence, a clean sheet would not go amiss either. To date, only the visit to Celtic Park brought forth that outcome. Vito Mannone is carrying on in place of Almunia who it seems will be back for the next game having returned to training; how Fabianski must be rueing his injury, the chance of establishing himself as number one slips for another while.

Defensively, I have a feeling that in the next game or two, we are going to see Philippe Senderos popping up in the red of Arsenal once more. Arsene is starting to rotate his players with fixtures coming thick and fast. Gallas and Vermaelen have been ever present so far which will not continue for much longer. I am not sure it will be today though, possibly the visit of Olympiacos will be the catalyst for that change.

In midfield, options are limited by Denilson’s absence. That would seem to suggest that Wenger is going to go with the trio of Eboue, Song and Fabregas. The defensive nature of Song and Eboue’s game would allow for an outrightly attacking triumverate further up the pitch of the Eduardo, Rosicky and Bendtner. I would personally prefer that trio with Eduardo on the left, Bendtner centrally and Rosicky on the right than rushing van Persie into action today. Let the Dutchman ease himself in gently with half an hour to replace Rosicky as the Czech works his way back to full fitness.

That would mean a line-up of:

Mannone, Sagna, Gallas, Vermaelen, Clichy, Eboue, Fabregas, Song, Rosicky, Bendtner, Eduardo

Eboue was singled out yesterday by Arsene as being the yardstick by which Arsenal supporters behaviour is judged, a boo too far as the manager rightly observed. It did not stop the catcalls but they were less intense for others. It was however, Eboue himself who turned it around, a hard working ethic entirely in keeping with his character apparently. And having a pop at Emmanuel Adebayor will have done him more than a few favours as well.

Elsewhere, apparently Marouanne Chamakh nearly joined in the summer. My how that one crept under the media radar – does anyone know anything about him? Is he any good? This morning’s Daily Telegraph had a story that the property loans had been renegotiated without any substance supporting it other than an interview given by Peter Hill-Wood for a recently updated book. The hacks suppose that the financial statements of the Arsenal Group will show this when they are published next month.

Enjoy the match wherever you are watching it. ’til Tomorrow.

  1. I think your Telegraph had different stories than mine, Yogi. Still crap though.

  2. Bob

Since they’ve had the good grace to change the electronic version that was up last night, I’ve had the good grace to amend the piece and chastise them no more.

Nice bit by Smudger next to it though. The Sun has Ray Parlour doing his cheeky chappy routine in the same context.

    YW

  3. 3rd place do i get any orders yw???

  4. Watching in Bangkok today!!!
    Sure thing A 5-0 Victory!!!!!

  5. Morning all and Nice post Yogi.

It would be great to have a run of clean sheets to build up confidence for the back five.
We know how to attack but can we defend well?
I think we can defend well, we showed it for long periods against Man USA.
Concentration will be vital to day. And For me a steady 2 – nil to The Arsenal would be better than a 5-4 thriller to The Arsenal, at this stage of the season.

  6. Last week I predicted 4-0 to the Kop, now it’s our t
    urn!!!

  7. Unrealistic expectations of 5 – 0 and 4 – 0 scorelines is why we get the OTT reactions after games if things don’t go our way. I’m just hoping we get back to basics, control the game, maintain our focus and convert our chances. 1 – 0 to the Arsenal will do for me.

  8. we’ll definitely score at least 4.. remember this league is ours for the taking..

    ___gunners kamaan___

  9. Wigan has always been a tricky but negotiable fixture. I agree that it’s games like these and the ones against the mid to bottom half of the table that will provide the momentum for the title challenge. Everyone of the big 4 will drop points during the season and we will make up lost ground so long as we do a professional job in games like these.

I suspect that the only change Wenger will make to the starting line-up is Sagna for Eboue, but the rest will remain the same with Eboue and Van Persie to come in at some point in the match.
I don’t expect Gibbs to play as Wenger is not likely to change 2 out of the regular back 5. Tall order that is.

I expect Senderos to captain the Carling cup team on Tuesday.

  10. random person has an opinion

Hero of the day : Eboue

    no, i am not joking..

  11. Coccium, that is the original name of Wigan. In latin this means scarlet and is often used as a term for a brothel. Apparently the term ‘athletic’, as in Wigan Athletic and originally Coccium Athletic referred to a rather boastful centurion called Bigus Fibus who claimed to have done 17 in one night, quite some feat. It transpired after a conversation with one of the ladies that 17 referred to the maximum number of seconds he…er…well you know. Anyway the name stuck.

  12. Well they will score wont they, I go 2-1.

    me team.

    vito
    sag,tv,willy,gibbs(clichy can do lines)
    eboue,fab,song,rosicky
    bendy,eddy

  13. Thanks for that nugget of information Frank.
Bigarse Maximus must have been Bigus Fibus cousin.

  14. I don’t doubt we will win today but, unlike many, I don’t think it will be easy. Agree with YW, Martinez would have learnt it is suicidal to have an attacking set up vs the Big-4, like he did vs ManU. He would have learnt from our games vs the Manchester clubs; the best way to beat Arsenal is to sit back and counter attack.
I am more interested in seeing how much we have grown mentally from our past three games and how well we play in our new 4-3-3 formation. Unlike Barcelona, the players don’t seem as committed and comfortable, especially on the defensive side, e.g. Clichy cannot be expected to go gungho and leave acres of space behind him. The forwards and midfielders need better rhythm to there combinations so we can better carve open the defensive teams we face. Quite a mouthful….but today will be very interesting.

  15. BTW: A sometime regular on this blog, MikeSA, has an interesting perspective on the EA incident at Jeff Winter’s column at http://www.jeffwinterentertainmentandmedia.co.uk/votw/0910010.php

  16. We should certainly win and a clean sheet is what we should be striving for.

If on the other hand, wigan surprise us and gets “stuck in”, well, wouldnt be that bad because frankly the lads should have learned to deal with it by now.

This will test their ability to deal with the heavy handed tactics because it certainly WONT be the last time they will face it this season!

    3-1 to the arsenal.

    Cheers all!!

  17. Darius

To answer your comment yesterday, I was indeed filling that role, a mix of Beckenbauer, Krol, Moore and Charlton with a hint of Hunter. At least in my own mind. The reality was probably something more akin to Coco the Clown.

Must dash – a pre match pint beckons.

    YW

  18. Win today, no probs.

Will be surprised if Tomas starts again after the midweek game.

How far off a return is Vela???

  19. I read somewhere that he is ‘days away’. I hope he is back for the Carling Cup game.

  20. Just a quick question…
Where will you guys be watching the game today?

  21. Come on you Reds! I just want to see the team back to it’s best, harrying all over the place, closing people down, smiles on their faces. If they have fun then we will win, simple.

  22. Big game for Mannone today nobody’s mentioned that

  23. Sagna repaces Eboue, Eboue slots in for Rosicky

  24. Does anyone have the team news? Apparently Rosicky (no surprise) and Bendtner are on the bench.

  25. Arsenal: Mannone, Sagna, Gallas, Vermaelen, Clichy, Eboue, Song Billong, Fabregas, Diaby, Eduardo, van Persie. Subs: Szczesny, Rosicky, Ramsey, Silvestre, Wilshere, Gibbs, Bendtner.

  26. Looks like the captain has been rested.

  27. No sorry he starts.

  28. We love you Arsenal…We do.
    We love you Arsenal…We do.
    A R S E N A L…We Love YOU.

  29. Eboue rampant!

  30. We seem to be making chances, just need to take them now!

  31. Vermaelen scores!

  32. Yessssss …. Tommy V.
    Great corner, great header.

    Hope the flood gates open.

  33. Tommy V bloody loves scoring goals.

    Jay Simpson scores for QPR.

    Anyone need a link?

    http://www.atdhe.net/9361/watch-arsenal-vs-wigan-athletic

  34. Spike Lee’s an Arsenal fan!

  35. Spike Lee is a Gooner.

  36. livefooty tv is a very good link if you have soacast it is from chinese tv but hey sound down radio on fine four me :P

anyone know why a huge chunk of the stadium is empty

  37. haha. He’s a big Serie A fan, used to see him on Gazzeta regularly at various Italian games. Must’ve finally realised where it’s at

  38. lordgunner – Is it a particular section of the stadium thats empty or is it just poor attendance?

  39. That is the away corner that’s empty.

  40. Bragging Rights Ltd

It’s the away section. Wigan don’t have the biggest fanbase.

  41. Song’s doing a good Baresi impersonation.

  42. Just kidding. No one can foul like Baresi.

  43. I need Eduardo and Fabregas to do some serious business today for me in the fantasy league.

  44. F*ck sake. They even commented on Soccer Saturday about the number of empty seats. You’d think they would point out the empty seats are Wigan’s. Are the press incapable of showing Arsenal in an fair way.

  45. eboue don’t make goal he destroy them .this guy have everything for him (pace , skill , work rate )except his finish touch.
imagine if he could finish what he start , he would be priceless

  46. Great challenge from Song to set that break up.

  47. Song playing nicely. Fabregas still out of sorts.

  48. LimparAssist, Ain’t him TH14 good mates.

  49. Spike and TiTi? Sounds about right. Both pretty cool.

  50. rvp does my head in

  51. How have we not scored there. RVP! Kaamaaan! Great harrying today though

  52. van persie need some click click click :D

  53. I see another piece from Le Grove today and they just always seem to have a dig at Wenger at every opportunity. Jeez

  54. I was looking at the bench and Silverstre aside it’s pretty good for a team missing Arshavin, Nasri, Vela, Walcott, Denilson, Senderos, Djouro and two keepers.

How many other teams can have so many good players missing and still have a decent bench?

Liverpool had almost a full strength squad on the opening day and their bench was appalling.

  55. Wigan has made over 20 fouls and not a single yellow card for them!?!?!? FFS what the FxxK is wrong with the refereeing in the BPL?!!?

  56. RVP…..Click Click Click

  57. We could do with a second goal early in the second half to break Wigan’s will.
A good first half for us.

TH14 in Spike Lee’s next film I think.

  58. Diaby and Cesc needs to go off. What is wrong with Fab he has been playing very poorly lately. And Diaby… he doesn’t seem to be on the same wavelength as the team. He slows plays down, and most of the time he’s like a headless chicken with or without the ball.

  59. good first half , we need to finish this game at the start of seconf half ; please no more kamikaze match finish my heart cannot take it
Marko stop reading this crap you will feel better , believe me i stop for a while and i m more relax when i watch arsenal now

  60. Come lads kill em off.

  61. Eboue is having a very good game though IMO. Probably the MOTM for the first half.

  62. Everyone’s playing well so far.

  63. Gackt -

Did you see that chip from Fab to RVP?

    Brilliant effort from Eboue.

  64. I’m listening on the radio and this seems to be going one of two ways. We will either utterly destroy them or end up drawing 1 – 1 after having 20 plus shots on target. As has already been said an early goal in the second half is important.

  65. Half time @ d Emirates. Robin seems to be having one me those days. Eboue has looked very good as has the Verminator

  66. http://cultureofsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/02/spike_lee.jpg

The movie TH14 was going to be in was Inside Man, which came out a few years back, sans TiTi.

  67. Good call Marc.
On another day we could of have had a hat full of goals. We still need to concentrate and get that second. A tap in will do.

  68. and i hope our fan raise their voice too because it s boring as hell to listen our player talking or the small number of away fan out-sing us again.
not a surprise the groove is been nickname the library by rival
i ve been in alto different stadium (ours, other in England and Europe) and it s by far one of the quietest around except for the big match

anyway rant over come on the goooooooooooner

  69. That was a good film Clive Owen and Denzil Washington. If you ….
Cracking finish, Tommy V. He’s a pinball wizard

  70. Vermaelen scores again! Where is he playing?

  71. gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool the verminator score a cracker

  72. well that was a srappy goal wasnt it!

  73. Arsenal is up 1-0 the last time I check. That is good. Aston Villa is leading Portsmouth 2-0. The match that’s on the FOX Soccer Channel here in LA. This is a must win for the Gunners. Three points is a must.. http://bobbygee.wordpress.com/

  74. bobby by shut up you t**t stop spamming arsenal board

  75. Marc, he just came striding through the middle, played a one two with Eboue and swept it left-footed, curling into the top corner. Beauty…

  76. 3 nil – Who scored it?

  77. LimparAssist if you get the DVD of the film, in the extras. They have the making of the film part and Spike is interviewed wearing the red current Arsenal home shirt. And I’ve seen him wearing a replica circa 1930′s vintage shirt before.

    Yesssssssssssss Edddwardooooooooo.

  78. LimparAssist – I was actually asking if he was playing up front!

  79. never mind eduardo cklick click click :P

  80. Great volley off the post from Eds.

Song is having a mare though, getting caught napping too often.

  81. 5dead are saying that in replays it’s actually Eboue who scores.

  82. Now let’s have a clean sheet.

  83. Skywatchingmug, cool, I’ve got the DVD, I will check that out. Cheers.

Eduardo, great strike against the post and nicely tidied up. Where all over them.

Marc, I tell you, he’d make a great frontman. Thing is, he just bloody loves defending too. Can’t play him everywhere!

  84. We should clone him.

  85. Rambo is coming on.

  86. haha. We really should.

    So unlucky Song!

    Rambo! Whoop Whoop!

  87. Bye Bye Diaby, Baby Bye Bye.
    Good night baby.

  88. cool rambo is on but i would prefer wishere .
wigan is all over the place in defence ,its perfect match for him to gain premiereship match experience

  89. lol sorry wilshere

  90. Tomassshhhh!

He is gonna run tings from here on in. Get ready for a couple more goals.

  91. Agree lordgunner. I would like to see Jack get a run out for 20 minutes.

  92. Big show of support for Eddy.

  93. :( so no wilshere .free wilshere.never mind bendy and lill Mozart to finish in beauty this match

  94. The incredible Hulk is on the pitch.

  95. Offside!

  96. yeahhhhhh, off side.

  97. We want a clean sheet.
    Let’s have it.

  98. one good bit on this match it s we dont hear too much of vito “corleone”mannone i m still not confident with him in goal, so thx god wigan are pretty poor .

  99. What’s wrong with Cesc?

  100. pretty funny too to hear the “it s only one arsene wenger song”.i ll bet its the same troll who trash him on the other blog ……w***ers the lot of them

  101. Cesc scores!

  102. fantasy league captain, whoop!

  103. Cesc click click click…..

  104. Fab looked pleased didnt he…he’s next summers big departure.

  105. 4 goal clean sheet happy days

  106. Great stuff. Well done boys.

  107. DG, seems Cesc has an injury

  108. Excellent dispaly!

  109. good news…Hull lost
    bad news…Brum won.

  110. Cesc got kicked all day and looked injured for the last twenty. Maybe that’s why no smile?

  111. Paul N,

I hope your right and im wrong.

  112. Solid victory and a big improvement from Clichy. What is up with Cesc…?Looked moody all day and wasn’t clicking. Oh well, he must be aware that he’s not been sharp and maybe that’s on his mind. Thing is as soon as anything is up with him, scumbag media start saying ‘he looks like his head’s been turned’ etc…
    Come on you reds.

  113. Someone called the score this morning on this blog, not sure who. Good shout that man.

First clean sheet of league season.
Many more to come I hope.

Wenger and the Boys got it right today.

  114. Duke – I have a feeling that Cesc might just be up for the game against Hull at the Emirates.

  115. Duke – Acording to the radio Cesc could hardly stand up. Hopefully it’s nothing serious.

  116. “scumbag media start saying ‘he looks like his head’s been turned’ etc…”

DukeGoonem doesn’t work for the media.

  117. Yeh, Duke you could see him limping and looking over to the side but I guess all the subs were used already. He celebrated all the goals until that point.

  118. Didn’t mean him… Apologies if any offense. Just predicting MoTD or Talkshite…

  119. I must say that the espn analysts are quite surprising. half time of the Burnley vs Sunderland match both studio guys said Arsenal should of won both Manchester matches.

The team was great today, its obvious that we will not fall asleep against the teams we are supposed to beat.

    Kool!

  120. I hope Cesc hasn’t done a verbal agreement with the Catalan S**t bags, and it’s playing on his mind. I only say this because he has touch of the TH14′s about him in his last season.
No way. What am I thinking about.
Don’t pay me no attention I’m just jaded old old fool.
    That could never be.

  121. He’s had a couple of off games. One we won comfotably which he scored in, one we came back from 2 nil down to win and in the other everyone was awful and City should have had Adebayor sent off – twice.

  122. We win 4-0 and the highlight is Cesc leaving?

Come on people….We played well, we scored 4, we kept the clean sheet…these are the highlights.

Cesc maybe was upset he got injured that’s all.

  123. But then again if he don’t get his OPTA stats up for running around then Wenger might get shot.
    Who knows?

  124. G4E – It’s amazing. Some of the people on here would complain if they won the lottery.

  125. Or should the question be who cares.
    Cause we are The Arsenal.

  126. I’m not complaining about anything other than the fact the media always try to stir shit for our beloved team. I think it’s ridiculous for them to speculate on that at this stage, we could’ve won the treble by then.
Solid victory and glad to see such improvement from the lads.

  127. Great victory for the Arsenal, we’re playing much more fluently now.

Absolutely great double by Vermaelen. Best 10 million pounds ever spent.

  128. I won the lottery once. Absolutely ruined my life. Fabregas? Don’t get me started on Fabregas.

As for good food, sun and a so called ‘happy life,’ well, just don’t go there.

  129. A-mazing shot top corner for his 2nd…
Just a shame Carlos wasn’t around to torment Kirkland again :P

  130. Second that Legio, the boy can play.

  131. We have a run of games coming up now that we should be able to take at least 19 points from. Let’s do it.

  132. Consolsbob – How did a tenner ruin your life?

  133. So we’re not counting the jubilant look that Cesc carried for the first 3 goals? He seemed as happy, if not more, than the goal scorers.

  134. Marc only if we play at our best mate.
Let’s not start counting our chickens before…..
Well you know what I mean.

  135. Our team had sealed the game after the third goal, and they did their winning celebrations right there and than. We paid some respect to Wigan, by not celebrating again when the whistle blew, especially since the last celebration of the fourth goal took place just minutes before.

  136. Good game from both Eboue and Diaby today. Eboue actually was fantastic going forward, it’s clear why Arsene chose to convert him into a winger from a fullback. Eduardo’s volley that hit the post was a great sign of things to come.

Rosicky was class yet again, he brings so much urgency and fluidity to our play. Arshavin would have to step if he is to claim that right wing spot. And Nasri isn’t too far as well now.

On another day RVP would have bagged 3 goals today.

  137. Skywatchingmug – We have enough match winning players to win all of those games. Arshavin, Rosicky, RVP, Eduardo and Cesc. We have the players, Vela and Walcott should be back soon and by the time we play the Spud’s Nasri should be close to returning. The one thing where the press are right is that the team that wins the PL can have a poor match against lesser teams and still get a result. How many losses did Ronaldo turn into draws last season? How many draws into narrow wins?

  138. Come on you hammers. Take points from the scousers. Show em up for what they are crap.

  139. With you there.

  140. Marc,

You make the lesser Ronaldo sound like he won the league on his own. He isn’t that good. The last thing I’d wanna hear after a win is how big a difference that prick made. Screw him.

  141. AW is not so stupid that he would sign a pre-contract type thingy to sell Fab to Barca, just before a World Cup where Fab will probably be a star and double his value. No way.

No more Fab pre-contract rumours please.

  142. Yeap, Skywatchingmug, very much an all-rounded player. Surely this will put his doubters to rest, esp. those who were complaining about his height!

    Love your avatar btw =)

  143. Ateeb, fully agree re. Eboue. Sagna put a great shift in too I thought. Great going forward. Enjoyed Song’s performance too. Rosicky’s cameo was pure class again. Can’t wait til he’s fully fit.

    Come on the Flappy Spammers!

  144. Marc I know we have the players, it’s the attitude that we need to work on. We can’t just think cause we tonked Wigan at home that we can do it to our next opponents.
We can’t out score every team in this league.

  145. Ateeb – It doesn’t matter what you think of him or whether you like him. Ronaldo was a huge part of ManU winning the league last season. When ManU lost at Burnley the excuse was “we always start slowly look at last season”. Ronaldo missed the start of last season, he’s not coming back now.

  146. Skywatchingmug – I’m not talking about outscoring every team in the league. The games I referred to are Fulham (A), Blackburn (H), West Ham (A), Spud’s (H), Wolves (A) & Sunderland (A). How many points would you accept from these games?

  147. Marc,

Get yourself on Le grove, if you think people on here are doomy.

  148. Went there once. Never again.

  149. Blood wheel stealers.

  150. Liverpool have just scored.

  151. Wheel stealers? Thieving murdering bastards is a more accurate description.

  152. For those who missed it a peek inside the Grove, sorry UK bloggers only:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/default.stm

  153. Look all I know is, in this league you need to be on top form and have some luck and you just might get a win.
But to answer you question I would like all the points, but I also want an Aston Martin DB7, But I wouldI have to work hard for it. So do we The Arsenal, work hard for it that is.
The teams you mention ain’t going to roll over for us.

  154. Skywatchingmug – I never claimed these teams would lie down and die in front of us. The Spud’s game this year will be a tough one but the players keeping saying they want to win trophies. Of course hard work will be required but they have the talent and are all earning huge salaries, if they aren’t willing to work for it they can go now.

  155. Was right behind the goal and it was definatley Eboue’s goal.If i can see it so can Eddy.

    Positives: TV Two brilliant goals
    Gallas Commanding
    Clichy Good game at last
    Song; great tackles

Negatives: Diaby Keep giving the ball away cheaply
    Eboue; Shocking finishing.
Rvp;Should have scored a hat-trick but bad finishing

4-0 but our finishing was pretty poor.Shame Jack wasnt given a half hour

  156. He has got bad hair but he is showing the scousers up. Come you Hammers turn them over.

  157. Come on ladies, away with the scarlet coloured glasses, we were shite. There is no point celebrating a 4-0 win, if you know in your heart of hearts it should have been 8-2. The fact that we didn’t concede was only down to wigan boys being in cahoots with a betting syndicate who have laid their life savings on a clean sheet. VP couldn’t score in a gang bang, and our defence looked as secure as the polish army in 1939. If there is an silver lining to the cloud I haven’t seen it. We’re competing for the wafer cup, and this weeks announcement that we’ve renegotiated our loans shows that we haven’t got a pot to piss in, and we’re now beholden to investment institutions, who will request that we sell 2 players every year to make ends meet. It’s a truly depressing time to be an arsenal fan.

  158. So Marc why are you trying to pick one with me.

  159. Muppet – As always your right. Where do I sign up to Leyton Orient?

  160. Eat that you no job thives.

  161. Skywatchingmug – I assume you mean an argument. I’m not but I set high standards for Arsenal. We should be beating the teams I listed. Hard work and commitment will be required but if you don’t posses them as a player you shouldn’t be playing for Arsenal.

  162. 4-0, sweet reply to the doomers & critics questioning our quality!

Uh, Yogi, where’s Frank, our ACLF+ Rasers skipper extraordinaire?

    ?

  163. Sitting watch Arse rolling over Wigan without ever needing to hit top gear but being frustrated that did not look like wecould find the gear if we needed it, I dawned on me why I get so frustrated.

It’s not that a few of the players were not playing well 100% of the time but the beautiful game that Asene has devised is just beyond certain players for any sustained period. They are not crap players per se but just not good enough for Arsene’s ambition.

And now we buy the vision and have seen it being reached in the past the frustration mounts. Without pointing fingers at current individual players as not good enough, who do want at Asrenal and why do think they will be able to deliver Arsene’s way?

  164. ?

    4-0 to the ARSENAL

    4-0 to the ARSENAL

    4-0 to the ARSENAL

  165. pat pending – Who are the replacements you’d bring in? Anyone can slag off players and many do but it’s more difficult to suggest the players we should get instead, unless of course you show yourself up to be a 7 year old whose knowledge of football is limited to playing Championship Manager in their bedroom.

  166. Thank Goodness for the voice of reason.

    Step forward Muppet!

  167. lol Marc

Immediate 8 premiership fixtures coming up:

    Fulham (A) Sep 26th,
    Blackburn (H) 4th Oct,
    Birmingham (H) 17th Oct,
    West Ham (A) 25th Oct,
    Sp*ds (H) 31st Oct,
    Wolves (A) 7th Nov,
    Sunderland (A) 21st Nov,
    Chelsea (H) 29th Nov

Interesting games. During this time, we wlll hope to see the return of Nasri, Walcott, Vela. Plus the further bedding in of Rosicky and Eduardo.

Just hope the defence can become stronger.

  168. Thank you bob. I’ve been incommunicado for the last week in a no-signal area on holiday in Cornwall. Must have been a pretty torrid time on the blogs.

  169. Muppet – Chelsea will of course be hard and the Spud’s game will be the usual scrappy affair although hopefully we can avoid a repeat of the game last year. The rest of the games while not a walk over are all winnable. If we want to compete for the title this season these are the games we need to win.

  170. this kid hines (west ham)? he is givin pool a warm time.
    very good player

  171. West Ham 2 – 2 Liverpool. Come on you bankrupt Icelandic Hammers!

  172. I agree Marc. I sincerely hope that the defensive lapses against Manchester City were the result of tiredness after a long run of matches, including the international fixtures.

  173. Pleased about the clean sheet. It’ll be a reason for some pride especially for the defense and Don Vito.

I can see West Ham are bum rushing Liverpool. It’s a good game. West Ham have some interesting talents. Just hope they can take some points off Liverpool

  174. Marc you having a good time at the lynching party.
    Is it over yet.

  175. whoever said football is a funny old game was right

Today as in Liege we weren’t great yet we won both games yet in the two games in Manchester when we played much better we lost

Once again Cesc didnt seem very interested and the finishing was piss poor. But at least we kept a clean sheet at last in the league.Well done Vito Corleone

Motm TV closely followed by WG

  176. Judge Jury Executioner and I get real job satisfaction!

  177. Thought you’d been quiet, Muppet. Yeah, there have been a few plonkers around.

You must have passed close to my neck of the woods. Never mind a holiday we never have a signal here!

  178. That figures, what with you high standards for the players and fans then The Arsenal would have one supporter. Sitting in the stands with an axe and prawn sandwich in each hand.

  179. Top scorers in the league with piss poor finishing. Where would we be if we could hit the target?

  180. Any rocket in the sandwich?

  181. Aha, the prawnophobes are back. Can anyone tell me what is so bad about prawn sandwiches yet? I’ve asked that question three or four times, but I’ve never received an answer.

  182. You got the axe mate get it yourself.

  183. Bob – of course, you are from the West Country. Well, I don’t know about the general coverage down there, but we were situated at the foot of a sand dune at a holiday camp a few miles down the coast from Newquay. The mobile phone signal registered a flat zilch, and the digital TV signal intermittently yielded results, so I managed to catch the highlights of the Liege game. The camp site bar had a live band every night for “entertainment”, so none of the sports channels ever saw the light of day. All in all, a fucking nightmare.

  184. Poliziano – Nothing wrong with prawns, personally I don’t eat them but only because I have 2 cats who enjoy them more than me.

  185. Consoles Bob, are you down in the bundox of the deep south west? There’s a few places there where there’s no phone signals.

I have nightmares about some cider outhouse in Totness that some friends took me to, though I doubt they were selling any regulation cider that side. When police asked I swore under oath that I didn’t leave Newton Abbot.

  186. Never mind rocket in the sandwiches. Some of our players need a rocket up the arse! Do they really think four goals at home is good enough? Vermaelen is a defender, ffs, and he’s scoring more than our so-called strikers.

  187. Poliziano – Agree, we’ll never win anything with goals coming from all over the pitch.

  188. If only we’d listened to Tony Adams’s warning about Vermaelen!

  189. Liverpool 3 – 2 up

  190. Big Tone, great player even better judge of players.

  191. Vermaelen is on his way to being our player of the month for a second time.

  192. Bragging Rights Ltd

Vermaelen’s second goal just shows that he should be playing further up the pitch. Typical Wenger – clueless about positions.

  193. Deepest Devon, close to the foreign land that is named Cornwall.

We do , thank Christ, get a good digital TV signal and am grateful for a half a meg. broadband connection. Sounds like you were down Perranporth way, Muppet or one of those smal bays just west of Newquay, home to the pissed youth of the world in summer?

As for Totnes, Darius, it’s a home for ex hippies and flakes these days. I am sure that you can get decent cider anywhere in devon though. Made two barrels myself only two days ago. Should be about 7% proof.

Should get me through the commentaries on Sky, ESPN and ITV over the winter. Although I do plan a trip to the NHOF sometime this year. If G4E makes it over it sounds like an excuse for some of that London beer that I used to enjoy.

  194. Just listened to YW on the Arsecast, weird huh?

  195. “It’s not that a few of the players were not playing well 100% of the time but the beautiful game that Asene has devised is just beyond certain players for any sustained period. They are not crap players per se but just not good enough for Arsene’s ambition.”

And who is better than you to tell Wenger which players are good enough for his “ambition”?

  196. It’s not just that Vermaelen is an unknown and untested Premiership centre half, he’s not even tall enough. Just 5 ft 10 plus a cigarrette stub.

When will Wenger ever learn that unless you put a 6 ft 7 lump of a player out back to kick the ball to row z and win all the headers, then you’ll never have a defender that the out of job experts of punters will rate.

I mean, what on earth can a former Ajax captain add to the Arsenal. What a waste of £10 million. He should have just bought Hangeland for £17 million or Lescott for £24 million.

  197. Bragging Rights Ltd

Seriously though, Vermaelen’s reminding me of Frank de Boer – only more rugged.

    Where was Straw Dogs set?

YW has a touch of Alan Rickman about him!

  198. agree with BRL the front line should be gallas verminator

  199. Back from the game, which delivered just what the doctor ordered – a stress-free victory and a clean sheet for which we barely had to get out of second gear.

Vito made a couple of good saves, which would have done his confidence good. And how good is TV? Arsene loves a bargain, but to buy a striker and defender in one is taking versatility to the extreme!

  200. So, Consolsbob, when you give up being a hippy, will you move to Totnes?

  201. It can’t last Passenal.

Remember how good Arshavin was last season before he showed us that he is absolutely rubbish this year?

Vermaelen will show us all too soon that he is the new Stepanovs.

It’s only a matter of time before AIC blows the whistle on him.

  202. A 4=0 win could and should have been 8 or 9.You can get away with missing easy chances but against better opposition you all know what will happen. If only RVP could use his right foot.

Big up to Mannone clean sheet, doesnt that sound good for a change. Two superb goals from TV,Toure who??

  203. As we say in these parts, Pz, ‘Bugger Totnes’!

  204. LOL Bragging rights.

Now that you mention it, YW is so Alan Rickman in character. I’m already picturing him in Nakatomi Plaza.

  205. Bob, yes, it was a place called Holywell Bay, 4 miles north of Perrenporth. Seemed remarkably chav free. Parts of Newquay seemed to be like Kings Cross moved 350 miles laterally – bloody seedy.

  206. I really cannot believe some people – if a 4 -0 victory still isn’t enough for you and you have to find something to complain about, you must have a very sad life indeed.

  207. I see the anti-Arsenal media is trying to start another storm accusing Eboue of ‘cheating’. He did a handball, it was spotted by the linesman and he was booked, end of story. They are so pathetic and predictable. I thought Eboue had a good game today – he is well and truly rehabilitated.

  208. ah the sweet silence of victory..

for the looks of things around here project Verminator is well under way..

as predicted we scored 4 goals and the clean sheet the added bonus..

passenal you must be 4 times as happy..

  209. They do, Passenal, they do.

When I was a mere lad, Muppet, we used to go to Newquay at weekends in the summer for to meet the girls from ‘up the line’. They were a bit different from the local girls. I haven’t been there for over 20 years now.

I found a local girl in the end.

Tell you what though, there are large pasrts of cornwall that are very nice places despite the efforts of the newspapers to turn it into ‘Kensington by the Sea’. The bloody Telegraph had a puffy piece on Tavistock today to our great regret. Just shut up about the place and leave us all be!

  210. Good result not great. We played much much better at OT. Wigan it has to be said were very poor and remember Manure put 5 passed them at home.
RVP stop taking the free kicks.
I would keep Mannone in the team but Wenger wont

  211. Go suck on an exhaust pipe Arse Nose. Might calm you down.

  212. It was a shame young Jack didnt get a run out when we were 3-0 up.This was a great chance wasted to give this major talent some valuable experience. The game was won FFS.I know he will play v WBA in the CC but the Prem is a level up on that

  213. Ole

Are you telling me we played better today than at OT when we played the champions off the park?

    Get real you fool

  214. Nice one Ole, way to go.
    Prat.

  215. gr8 win… caught the match in parts tho… onwards and upwards now… hoping for 2 draws 2moro..

  216. Bob, Kensington By The Sea ? Sounds bloody expensive. You have to laugh and cry at the way the broadsheets feature desirable places in their property and travel sections. I guess it justs makes it a misery for the locals when property prices rocket to south east proportions.

  217. And here was i thinking we won 4-0.

    Bloody trolls.

  218. Messing up my good mood.

  219. Am I justified to be worried about Cesc?

  220. London, I have heard, is the best city in the world, so what could be better than having one’s neighbourhood become like London?

  221. Him going? No

    Not playing well? No….form, class

    Injury? Yes

  222. Your easily upset Maria, go take a chill pill.

  223. PZ – Is that the heading to an MA dissertation on urban and rural planning ?

  224. “Passenal you must be 4 times as happy..”

Too right KS – I don’t go in for wild pre-game predictions, but I don’t quibble afterwards whatever the score!

Anyone with access to AW’s press conference, it’s well worth a listen.

  225. Passenal – is the press conference on arsenal.com or the BBC/Media ? Do you have a link ?

  226. Maria – no – it’s oh dear oh dear oh dear.

  227. Eduardo was off-colour today, he should have scored that 3rd goal on the volley.

  228. Only if you are looking for something to be worried about Ole.

He was carrying an injury towards the end of the game, that is all. Prior to that he was fully engaged in the game although there were a few stray passes today. But he is human so he’s not always going to be at his best and he was probably p*ssed off that he’s not playing as well as he would like. In fact, he injured himself stretching for a ball after he ran into trouble by making a stray pass. I’m sure anyone would not be in the best frame of mind under those circumstances.

  229. Quite right you are Muppet, quite right.

  230. I agree with P.

  231. F. Frederick Skitty

Sorry I haven’t been able to read the comments yet and I don’t know if anyone else has picked up on it yet, but I am worried about Cesc.

Apart from an anonymous performance ( I’m being generous here) He seems really down. His goal celebration was totally without passion. I’m hoping it was partly in acknowledgement of the way he played and due to frustration with himself.

I don’t want to read more in it than that, but we really need him to rediscover his form.

I was actually hoping for Rosicky or even Ramsey to replace him at one stage, with the game already won.

Our quality is there in buckets, but some of our stars were well below par. RVP might want to give MOTD a miss tonight.

On a positive note though, we stuffed them with a very poor performance and I believe Song will become a truly world class DM before the end of this season. Vermaelen made all the difference in this game, Gallas was superb too.

I’m not a doom mongrel and I’m delighted with the 3 points but it was painful at times.

I can’t wait for us to click into gear and really start to play at our full capabilities.

  232. On Arsenalonline Muppet.

  233. When’s Denilson coming back? Him, Verma and Eduardo are our Gods

  234. Cheers Passenal/Maria.

  235. Eboue and Song had excellent games today.

As well as TV and WG excellent forward play by them. Sagna and Clichy were on form as well.

    A entertaining preformance all round.

Eboue’s touch and strength on the ball was amazing today.

  236. Optimistic was the word that Mr Wenger used to sum things up.

    And we can be.

  237. Not houseboys Aaditya?

  238. I know that these are both crap papers but this is appalling.
Not only is someone trying to stir up shit but the story with a few perfunctory word changes are very similar
Just goes to show how one persons negative opinion can have a large effect on lots of other people

  239. F. Frederick Skitty – I think Arsenal fans are spoiled, we won, why do we always have to look for something negative?

We started the season with 3 tough away games in the PL, losing two we deserved to get something from. We had to overcome a 2 goal deficit in the CL again away from home. Don’t you think that takes something out of the palyers both physically and mentally? Some of our key players are at various stages of coming back from injury. Give them a break and just accept 3 points however pedestrian the performance. Sometimes you just cry out for ‘no more drama’ when that is needed. Stop trying to look for something that is not there. You are just allowing media speculation to influence your thinking – next thing you know, lack of belief in our captain starts being transmitted from the crowd and we create the very situation we would rather avoid.

  240. @Maria, LOL! Denilson, he’s my fav player now, he really makes the team function smoothly, just like my houseboy!

  241. Im probably the only 15year old who actually respects the value of a Denilson, most of my friends think he’s crap.

  242. I thought it was a good performance. RVP was having a no-goal day and that’s all.

  243. Good points Passenal and F. Frederick Skitty.

  244. Geez, some of us would find fault if Arsenal played a perfect match!

Well done by the boyz, each player did their part to ensure a win even if some may not have been on top form. 4-0, lets just celebrate our PL win after losing the last 2, kool?

  245. Here here….Passenal and Paul.

  246. RVP, is great a free kicks, so whoever said he needs to stop needs to stop. RVP is a player though he may not score requires a lot of attention because he is so quick on the draw. SO, he may not score but I am sure he caused spaces to open up for other players. Can we not forget his beautiful skill that led to the last goal.

He will be our top scorer this year!

  247. P and P wouldnt have worked Maria?

  248. The workrate of RVP till the end was great.

He deserved a goal for his efforts.

  249. Well Poliziano is around and I didn’t want him getting the wrong idea…lol

  250. ha ha!

Agree with you about RVP Maria.
Its just a matter of time with him, the flood gates soon open for him.

  251. Cesc looked defensively solid today and made some tigerish tackles to boot..

  252. Well…I expected us to win but not by 4-0. Damn it…I won’t complain. Martinez is in trouble and it is a shame.

Welcome back Muppet. You had me in stitches with your 1st post. Now know what I’ve been missing.

    Doomers beware.

  253. Yes we have missed you Muppet.

  254. and now relaxing game fro neveryone favorite ex-player

  255. dam i cant type

  256. F. Frederick Skitty

    Hi Passenal,
Nothing to do with media speculation for me really, I don’t read the papers. and now avoid Talkshite and Sky sports like the plague.

I just felt a little anxious during the first half, when things were actually quite touch and go and we really weren’t playing with any cohesion – I know I wasn’t the only one in the stadium. Cesc was central in this and I’ve rarely seen so many inaccurate passes from him.

That is not to say that I’m not delighted with the result, I just look forward to us really firing on all cylinders.

Even since the Henry, Pires era I’ve likened Arsenal to a supercar, that needs to be perfectly tuned. At that point we are virtually unplayable. With confidence all of the slide-rule passes and runs create breath-taking football. It only requires us to be a tiny bit off and the passes and runs look awful and can end in disaster.

My comments on Cesc were just based on the last couple of performances, I’d just love to see him smiling more. In fairness I wasn’t aware of the injury, that could alter his mood. It was scandalous the number of times the ref allowed Wigan players to go right through our players from behind, is that no longer a straight yellow? It is fair to say, however, that Cesc has not yet hit the heights.

I believe that we will win at least the league or the CL this year. Hopefully we’ll soon be striking fear in our opponents hearts again.

This is the best football club in the world!!!

  257. That one moment late in the game between Rosicky and Cesc shows what vast potential this team could have if all the flair players can get back to health.

Dream Team (or the all healthy team)

    Almunia, Sagna, Clichy, Vermaelen, Gallas,
Song, Cesc, Rosicky, Arshavin, Van Persie, Walcott

    Subs (from)
    Bendtner
    Eduardo
    Nasri
    Denilson
    Djourou
    Eboue
    Gibbs
    Ramsey
    Vela

This team and bench would be unstoppable. Arshavin, Fabregas and Rosicky running rings round the opposition and playing through Walcott and Van Persie at will. Song shoring up the middle and Gallas and Vermaelen knocking them in from set pieces.

Maybe this team would bring a smile back to Cesc’s face. I thought he looked much better today, actually. I just wish he could get back the sense of fun he always seemed to have on the field. Rather than having his head turned, it could just be a case of him wanting to show he’s on a mission and he has his ‘I want trophies’ face on.

While Ronaldo leaving to Real Madrid was great news for us, the downside looks like there’s a greater possibility with him, Kaka, Benzema and Xabi over at Madrid that Cesc will want to support the cause in keeping Barcelona on top of La Liga. A weak Madrid might have made it less tempting for Cesc to go back.

  258. The doomer patrol instead of the Midnight Patrol.
    Great, that’s all we need.

  259. I don’t believe today’s performance was pedestrian. We controlled the game from beginning to end, created countless chances, and scored four goals. What more do you want? I didn’t notice any of our team playing badly. I saw only quality all over the pitch.

  260. I was not being critical Pz, I meant pedestrian as in routine, run of the mill game, where we did not have to hit the highest heights we can reach, but we played well nevertheless.

P.S. sorry my link above isn’t working – it was a pic of Cesc celebrating Vermaelen’s goal and shock horror – smiling!

  261. F. Frederick Skitty

    I feel much better now.

    Thanks Classenal.

  262. Sorry, Passenal, I was referring to earlier comments. I couldn’t be bothered to read them again, so I used the word pedestrian from your post.

  263. F. Frederick Skitty

The link works if you paste it in your browser and remove everything after jpg

  264. F. Frederick Skitty

    Or do that…

  265. That link is strange. If you first visit the cescfabregasfans homepage, then past in the link, it works.

  266. That’s the one Dupsffokcuf – thanks

  267. This is what is wrong with some Arsenal supporters we beat a very poor Wigan side and they start going over the top about how great we are and how we are going to win the title
forgetting we have lost our last two games conceding 6 goals
Lets keep our feet on the ground. We have played 5 league games and lost 40% of them.
Start saying how great we are in May when we are 4pts clear with 1 game to go not in september

  268. What are you talking about, Frankel?

  269. We’re great Frankel. Does it make you feel really rotten to hear that?

  270. You have not been reading that here Frankel or anywhere else that I’ve seen – received wisdom seems to be that we were rubbish, missed loads of chances, Mannone looked shakey despite saving the only 2 shots on target Wigan managed. Oh and Cesc is on his way and is already dreaming of his new role in the Barcelona team.

  271. Debate is good or is that masturbate.
    I get confused.

  272. Surely you mean mass debate.

  273. My eye sight is poor Dupsffokcuf, thanks for putting me right.

  274. Another poor ref today. Wigan 18 fouls 2 yellows. Arsenal 6 fouls 2 yellows.

Seems to be a pattern in our fouls per card ratio.

  275. Hardly a dirty game, to warrant 4 yellows. But having said that Song took one for the team when Wigan where in a good break away position.

  276. Song is a star.

  277. Passenal

I agree with you completely, but I think it isn’t unreasonable to point out that Mannone does not look ready. Against Wigan we can get away with two injured keepers, but to have him in goal in a tough match would be a concern.

He did get down well for the initial shot on the offside Wigan goal, but the other shot on goal he should have claimed the corner on. There was one other shot that came through relatively slowly to him, and for a second I thought it was going to go through his legs.

This isn’t to knock a good performance today, and it’s rare a team has their #1 and #2 keepers out. Looking forward to having Almunia back, regardless of his critics.

  278. Spike Lee is an Arsenal supporter, kool!

  279. We’ll have to agree to disagree lagooner as I don’t see the point of highlighting mistakes when the end result is a rookie goal keeper kept a clean sheet. Mannone is only playing in the absence of our 1st and 2nd choice goal keepers, so I would prefer to accentuate the positive and congratulate him for a job well done.

  280. Did you see him Paul N? He looked like he was feeling the tension at one – nil.

  281. Fair enough, Passenal. As 3rd choice keepers go, he’s perfectly fine.

  282. Nothing worth analysis in our 4-0 victory in the eyes of Mr. Hansen.

  283. Paul N,

I heard Spike Lee is very good mates with Armstrong the NBA star, and met Henry through him and became an Arsenal fan.

  284. Will wonders never cease? MOTD rightly praised Eboue for his performance today and managed to refrain from going OTT about the handball incident.

  285. Lol, now that I have to see.

  286. Passenal @ 11:18 pm – Can’t say the same for the Independent.
    http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/ebou-compounds-his-idiocy-by-celebrating-like-adebayor-1790359.html

That paper has really turned into a tabloid rag, from my reading. Now players can’t celebrate in front of opposing fans. What a bunch of wankers?

  287. Golden Boot for Vermaelen… Hahaha.

  288. Eboue’s goal it is. Without the diversion, Kirkland would have saved it.

  289. 5:17 of the clip.

  290. i will start by saying this cause yesterday game was a good game but it wasnt a game we can talk about or applaud for.and what i am trying to say is that our performace last night was good but not good enough cause it was more like a layoff type of game cause we knew we were going to win and thats why the cowd was abit short of people.and those peolpe who attended that match are those wenger love heads thinking that being more optimistic will bring success and which is not true.but believe me if we keep playing the way we played yesterday then we will never win the league and thas the fact. and on the performance on our players i think song was very clumsy at times even though it wasnt a difficult match were we have to worry about.and eboue played good but i am still not convince with his play.and cesc will leave us even though he is trying to hard to keep his own patience at our club. but for me it is a matter of time when he decides to leave us which will be a very sad until we start winning games and offcourse look abit like a title genuine winning type of team.but i am impressed with diaby but still he is not up for it.and how can i forget vermaelen performance was yet good again.but if he gets injured who is going to cover for him??? and thas thy wenger should had gone to the transferm market and purcharse a backup central defender which we are lacking at the moment.and i cannot waiit for the return of nasri, arharvin, walcott and as i said before denilson isnt good enough.but the return of those three players will give a major boost of confidence and hopefully they play good and change our belove captain cesc mind. but yeah it will be very interseting indeed to see those players back cause they will give us options and wenger has to rotate the players in a suitable way which will make the players happy and us offcourse.and the board can screw themselselves cause they are not helping at at all.

  291. damn i think that was to freaking long

  292. CONSPIRACY!!!

Not that I would publicly accuse Chelsea of something illegal like bribery but I can understand someone accusing Abramovich and his millions having bought Chelsea the softest possible Premier League schedule during the African Cup of Nations.

Here’s their January schedule (Tournament runs from 1/10-1/31)

    Hull (a)-Jan 9th
    Sunderland (h)-Jan 16th
    Birmingham (h)-Jan 27th
    Burnley (a)-January 30th

Then they have Arsenal at home on Feb 6th. As most of their players are unlikely to be in the final of the tournament, they will be rested before this crucial game.

    Now for Arsenal:

    Everton (h)-Jan 9th
    Bolton (a)-Jan 16th
    Aston Villa (a)- Jan 27th
    Man United (h)-Jan 30th

Not sure when the schedule was announced for the league, but maybe Toure and Adebayor were with us when it was announced. Of course, looks like Togo will miss out again, so City will have Adebayor in January anyway.

Ask yourself the following: Are Chelsea capable of bribery? Do they have any track record of unethical behavior? Do they have the means and the influence?

    Not accusing, just asking….

  293. CONSPIRACY!!! i dont think so lagooner cause your comment is abit awkward .and what type of arsenal fan whould care about chelsea plans.and you and maria are no diffrent cause all you talk about is chelsea and know you are beginning to annoy me.and support arsenal or bugger off.

  294. So we can add…A Thief to the nice list of attributes that Ade has. Nicking our players boots. What a dirty c*nt. Why did that c*nt ever play for us. Cant believe i stuck up for that t*sser.

  295. Well said gooner 2

The Moon landings the Kennedy assasination the Chelsea fixture list.Great Conspircies of all time.

Get a life lagooner. And stop looking at who Chelsea are playing in 4 months time.It wont matter anyway the world is ending on November 7th

  296. DukeGoonem

You cant be suprised Greedy is a boot-snatcher.He stole 80k a week from the Arsenal fans last season

  297. I think lagooners post regarding the Chelsea fixtures is very interesting. At the very least, it confirms that they won’t be weakened by the ACN.

I just hope that the age of their squad catches up with them.

  298. Sold Kolo for 16 million who probably will not improve anymore as a player

Bought Vermaelen for £10 million who is 23 and has room for improvement.

This is why Arsene Wenger is the best manager in world football.

  299. i think we should forget about adegiveme-moremoney cause he is a fucking donkey scum.and all he does yap and yap and i am sick of his irritating attitude which he showed towards us.and what a prick but it wont be that late for citeh fans calling him lazy greedy bastard who doesnt work hard for the team and all he deed was passing is time at our and waiting patiencly for his undiserved contract.

  304. lagooner

    No need to insult people

Chill out.And get back to checking who Chelsea are plaing in april

  305. lagooner doesn’t insult people. He leaves that to the childish older hands on here.

No, really, I’m not trying to reignite past arguments la. Honestly.

It’s just a bit tiresome on here this morning and i wanted to lighten the mood.

  306. Mean Lean

We have the best manager, the best team and the best stadium but the worst trophy cabinet in the world.

The best do not finish 4th three years out of four

  307. Have you seen the Arsenal trophy cabinet, Mean Lean? You might want to retract that comment.

  315. To stick to

  318. Fuck bastard wank prick c-hips

  319. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  320. Eboue was so pleased when he opened his christmas present from his mate Adebayor………………..a pair of football boots

  321. Really enjoyed the game yesterday. Most supporters turned up, though more than half were late. Two thirds had gone by the final whistle….and if we are going to claim to have class, is it really necessary to sing, ‘shall we sing a song for you’ to ten Wigan fans.

This was a walk in the park, never out of second gear. Terrific strikes by TV. Very valuable experience for Don Vito, I have a feeling that he is going to be very, very good indeed. Well done RvP for picking up both Eduardo and Eboue in the celebration after that goal, it was hilarious.

  322. frank

to be honest it wasnt an enjoyable victory cause it was more like an annoying victory which our players didnt take it serious but we had to.

  323. If I have to be completely honest, it was a very enjoyable victory yesterday.

  324. If I had to tell the truth, I’d admit that anyone who didn’t enjoy yesterday’s win is an idiot.

  325. G2, why take it seriously if it both annoys you and makes victory unenjoyable?

Oh and please don’t give me no evils.

I loved every second of my day, before, during and after the game.
    Up the Arse.

  326. I was getting a bit worried about Frank there for a while.

Glad it made sense in the end.

  327. Frank

It was indeed the word you identified. One of our erstwhile trolls used that in his post id’s. Have to refine the ISP trap for him…

    YW

  328. What made sense ? What happened ?

  329. Come on guys. When we played well and lost, you said “we’re not gonna win the premier league playing this way”. When we played ok and trounced Wigan, you said “we’re not gonna win the premier league by winning this way”. Give me a break please. We’re gonna win the league by winning in any way, and we’re not gonna win the league by losing in any way. Yesterday, we won. We have centrebacks scoring for us, goals from midfield, and goals from our forward. It certainly augurs well for this season. A win is a win, and we don’t need to always win by playing football out of this planet. We just need to win, win and win. So pls spare me all the crap. Period.

  330. We don’t need to defend Eboue for cheating. There’s no attempt to cheat. The handball was so obvious and hardly disguised to deceive the referee so it was not an attempt to cheat but an instinctive reflex action. He got yellow carded and that’s all there is to it. Why make a big issue out of it? I like the directness of Eboue’s play, his athleticism and he scored our 3rd goal off a deflection of Eduardo’s shot. No doubt about that.
