Two Mistakes Cost Arsenal Three Points

Manchester United 2 – 1 Arsenal

0 – 1 Arshavin (40)
1 – 1 Rooney (59 pen)
2 – 1 Diaby (64 o.g.)

It is a defeat and one that will rankle simply because a mad five minutes undid the excellent work that came before it. More to the point, they will be scratching their heads to wonder how the game slipped from their grasp. It was a lost opportunity but there should not be any storm clouds gathering for even in this adversity, the signs of the collective improvements made as the squad matures are encouraging.

The tone of the game was set in the formations employed. United set out their stall to spoil, something that should not be lost amid any rancour. For a team who have been the most effective attacking unit at home to deploy defensive tactics is recognition of the standards of Arsenal’s play this season. If the result did not bring forth any vindication of Wenger’s belief in his squad, Ferguson’s starting line-up certainly did.

Football statistics are notoriously subjective, irrespective of their basis in fact. Yet United managed a paltry three shots on target, one of which was Diaby’s own goal. Arsenal countered that, one goal, one logic defying save and a crossbar which is still reverberating from van Persie’s free-kick. Had one of the latter efforts found the net, the match would have been over. They did not and United still breathed.

Before the game, I had hoped that Bendtner would be restored to the attacking line-up, especially in the absence of Cesc, adding to the goal threat. Arsene disagreed and retained Eboue. For an hour it seemed the correct decision on the part of the manager as Arsenal were the more effective of the two sides. Gallas and Vermaelen ruthlessly shackled Rooney, the only real attacking outlet for the hosts.

The first half was a scrappy affair. Arsenal used the ball well but too often surrendered possession. United faired even worse with Valencia setting out to prove that spending £16m does not guarantee quality; Berbatov provided ample evidence that £30m gives no more reassurance in that respect.

In the end, it took a moment of sublime technique to separate the sides at the interval. Wrongly denied a penalty by the ineptitude of Mike Dean, Arshavin picked himself up and received possession from Denilson. Invited to move forward, the Russian did so unimpeded before unleashing a powerful shot. Foster got his hands to it but was unable to prevent the strike entering the net. Had it been Almunia, no doubt he would have been severely castigated by media and fans alike; no such criticism of England’s Number One.

The Spaniard would not have to wait long before putting himself in the firing line. Four minutes after the restart, van Persie should have buried the game. A swift break on the United left found van Persie in the centre, his shot seemingly heading goalwards, interrupted on it’s route to the back of the net by Foster’s outstretched boot. Moments later, Eboue had the time but not the confidence, to volley home, unmarked on the right hand side of the area. He chose to try to control the ball instead and the chance passed.

On the hour came what seemed to be a temporary redemption for the hosts. Giggs sent Rooney through and from the moment that Almunia came to meet him, there was only going to be one result. Rooney was en route to the floor before the Spaniard’s momentum forced a collision. Was the decision to meet the United attacker rash? No, the execution was, Almunia should have stayed longer on his feet, forcing Rooney wider of the goal. The resultant penalty was as coolly despatched as Eduardo’s earlier in the week.

Even then, the fates teased Wenger and his men, the luckless van Persie’s viciously curling and dipping free-kick evading Foster but not the woodwork. How costly was that to prove for within a minute, United had struck their winner. Giggs’ deliver from the set-piece was unspectacular but into a decent area of the box. Inexplicably, Diaby miscued his header into the net. There was no pressure and the safest option was to head towards the touchline from his angle of ascent. The Frenchman was not finished though. Minutes later, some sublime footwork opened an excellent opportunity but a wide swing of his left boot rendered all of the previous good work unrewarded.

The farcical refereeing decisions were unfinished. Fletcher walked from the pitch unscathed at the final whistle, something that a stronger official would not have allowed to happen. Continual foul play is a booking. Fletcher committed enough sins to warrant three yellow cards but even then Dean is so inept he would probably not have sent him off. The only dismissal was that of Wenger for the technically superb despatch of a water bottle. Even then, the officials could not convey their decision accurately, failing to inform Wenger that the stands do not include the technical area.

For all of the disappointment, there are many positives to draw upon. They outfought United, a total turnaround from the Champions League and previous visits to Old Trafford. Six bookings in one match draws an automatic fine from the FA but shows a willingness to stand and trade blows with their supposed physical superiors. Arsenal used the ball more effectively in the final third than United, creating more danger than their opponents. Missing their creative hub, Arsenal still had enough to win the game.

The forwards though need to score. van Persie is an ideal striker in a 4-3-3 and growing in maturity, not just in his play but also his leadership, highlighted by his interaction with Diaby immediately after the own goal. He needed more support, something Eboue was not able to totally provide on the right since his game is not based on attacking instinct. In midfield, the mantra that Arsenal lack depth does not stand up to scrutiny. Song, I thought, continued his impressive start to the season, ably supported in the hardworking Diaby to form an effective shield for the defence. Denilson was more than a match for Fletcher, Giggs, Valencia and Nani. Less flashy and individualistic than his opposite quartet but more in tune with the Arsenal play than any of them.

A lot of positives to draw but a galling defeat nonetheless. Losing at Old Trafford is not as detrimental to a season as other early defeats have been in the past. United will drop points to Chelsea who will reciprocate by doing so to Liverpool who will complete the circle by doing so against Arsenal. The top four matches do not win titles; United has proved that in the past. Let Arsenal do so this season.

’til Tomorrow.

1. Galling is indeed the word.

No question we were the better side but the result contradicts that.

Move on. I don’t think we will make those mistakes again but we said that last season. we do keep finding new ones.

We will finish above manu.

2. Wanted: New keeper.Almunia is average no more than that.
A goalscorer.Another major game we fail to kill the game off.We needed to replace Ade

YW

No mention of the Eboue dive. Why?

3. I still can’t believe we lost that game. I haven’t seen Man utd as ineffective as that since 2002.

Wenger got it spot on when he said that we lacked calmness in the situations that led to their goals. Unfortunately, although Almunia has improved his keeping skills since becoming no.1, his decision making on whether to stay in his goal or attack an on-rushing attacker or cross is still suspect.

And why does Eboue not learn about diving at Old Trafford after being sent off two seasons ago? He was brilliant against Celtic because he played sensible football. After the furore over Eduardo, why couldn’t he just have the same attitude yesterday rather than resetting to default?

4. Morning, YW.

“We will finish above manu.”

I’m thinking this too.

5. Hard to stomach losing to MU, especially when we were the better side. Cheered, however, by Wenger’s post-match demeanour. Usually he looks like death warmed over after a loss, but this time he seemed fairly positive. Hopefully the boys will use this week as a rallying point, an us against them moment (the them being the media, the FA and fools like Dean who wave play on to challenges against us and card us for very similar tackles)

Almunia: it’s nearly 2 years to the day when AW benched Jens for consecutive howlers. With Fabianski out and Mannone not really an option is there any chance that AW’s aim to tighten up the defense might extend to another goalkeeper? Send Fabianski out on loan and get someone in. At this point I’m ready to take my chances with Djourou and Senderos as back-ups if it meant getting Adler or even Jaaskelainen.

6. Thanks for the write up YW. Your last point is the most pertinent.

I’ve just been watching Sky Sports Sunday, and I have to admit, there is a sea change in the views of the hacks. Matt Hughes said something like:

“We have all seriously underestimated how good this arsenal team would be. The midfield totally outplayed the manchester united midfield yesterday. Eboue, Song, Diaby and Denilson are just monsters. With Fabregas replacing Denilson they would be even better. I expect Arsenal to be the challengers to Chelsea. In recent seasons they could not compete on a physical level, but this is a complete turn around.”

This was backed up in complete agreement by Patrick Barclay.

7. I am angry today
Utd didnt beat us it was self inflicted.Almunia’s crazy charge out of his goal was madness As soon as he missed the ball and touched Rooney the game changed. They never looked like scoring before that. Also Almunia must take some blame for the second goal he should have come out and made the ball his.He should be dominating his box

At the other end i worry about our strikers. We cant keep relying on our defenders and midfielders to get the goals.I was glad we sold Ade but surely we should have replaced him

Eboue is a f**king disgrace. After all the trouble over the Edu penalty what does this clown do.Old habits die hard

8. I believe we played a good game, unfortunate about the rubbish decisions. I wouldn’t get overcritical over the officials (because I believe they have consciences), but with the attitude displayed, I think our next opposition would be torn to pieces.

Forever Arsenal

9. amazing comments from the pundits. We are looking a lot better, the 4-3-3 situation is very very positive and with Cesc, Walcott, Rosicky (really?) and Nasri to come back we will be a lot stronger for it.

But ade needs to be replaced. RVP was totally useless yesterday. a striker to finish the job was all that was missing

10. Fletcher commited 20 fouls in the gamne and was not booked.

Can someone tell me why please????

And why we did not get the penalty for foul on Arshavin???

11. Sorry – that should have been Sky Sports Sunday Supplement. For those who have missed it, there is a podcast:

http://skyscape.sky.com/skynewsradio/PODCAST/sundaysupplement/sundaysupplement.xml

Which you can enter in the itunes, under the menu option:

itunes –> advanced –> Subscribe to podcast

Today’s podcast is not available just yet though.

12. Like you say Yogi a lot of positives to come out of the game.
Thought Song and Denilson looked a bit more tentative than in the last few games but got better as the match went on and they realised that they were better than the opposition.
I am sure the team will feel sick at the loss but now they know that all the talking Wenger does to tell them that they are very good is true and not just psychology

13. I think this will not affect Arsenal as much as the Champ league match last year, where we were steamrollered in the second leg. Here we had the upper hand throughout. It was almost a freak result : the impossible van Persie save, a strange penalty against the run of play and an own goal. I’m sure Arsenal will bounce back against City.

When we beat Manu last year at the Emirates we didn’t play as well; sometimes football happens that way.

I thought Diaby (og apart) played well, but was always trying to dribble through the whole team. We missed Fabregas playing people in.

Another positive was Vermaelen’s classy performance.

14. Evra dived over Gallas’ leg in the first half to win a free kick. Man Utd are just better coached in diving, Eboue is too stupid to realise you through yourself at the opposing player not away from them.

Man Utd are very poor this season but will grind out the necessary results.

So far all I see is a Chelsea title with the remaining three CL places hotly contended by 4 or 5 clubs

15. Get over it, Eboue was justtrying to buy a free kick in a dangerous postion for the team, how many players have done that in the past and how many more will do it in the future, the boy had a good game.

However i do agree with you that Almunia was at fault for both goals.

Better than utd, you bet we are, champions yes we are.

pity the teams that come to our place when all our players are available.
Fabregas, Rosicky, Nasri, Vella, Wallcott, JD, we’ve got a great team and can only get better, watch out people Arsenal on the rise!!!!!!!!

16. We were much improved last night but it still rankles with me that we lost.We keep making silly mistakes and no decent pl side is gonna win it if they cant keep the faults at a minimum.I have often taken a lot of stick for criticising this team but i do think i am vindicated in saying that the same problems persist within the squad without Cesc noone took charge after the Arshavin goal and killed Manure off a disciplined attacking ten minutes and we would have been 2-0 up coasting but this team at a crucial time once again decided to play within themselves as mocking the united players were enough, over elaboration took over once again and Van Persie must shoulder much of the blame for us not leaving with 3 points.

17. Arsenal will win the title this year. We will not lose another game before Christmas. In fact I will go further, we will win all games between now and Christmas. Chelski will run us close, but will be not quite good enough.

18. Utter fucking rubbish as usual, danish pastry.

19. We cant carry on trying to win trophies while we have an average goalkeeper like Almunia. He is not as good as the other top 4 team keepers and Given as well.Almunia giving away the pen changed the game.
Arsenal are a big club we should have a world class keeper between the sticks. We should not be settling for 2nd best

Utd were really poor yesterday and we should have beaten them. But last season we took 4 pts off them yet they still finished miles ahead of us.
I really hope Wenger buys 2-3 players in the next two days. And if anyone says we have a strong enough squad tell me how Eboue(diver) gets into the team for the biggest game so far?The squad cant be that strong then

20. A good showing after the midweek exertions against Celtic, the crazy uefa charging of Eduardo.

The unfortunate timing of the uefa’s announcement afforded the ManUre fans an opportunity to boo Eduardo when he came on. Would Eduardo have started if not for the cheating charge? Probably not. But we were certainly denied that option by the circumstances.

I’m still full of hope for this season.

21. LET US LEARN.

I personally believe that there are a lot of positives we can take from this result. I think we have to give the team great credit because there was no difference between the sides footballing wise. We matched them TOE TO TOE for the entire match which was indeed extremely encouraging.

I just like to point out that the team needs to be MENTALLY stronger. The difference between the sides was that united were more battle hardened and calm when things were going against them. They were pretty awful to be honest, yet they got the job done.

our team just lost composure under pressure, which has been major suspect about the make up of this team. We have to address this and I am starting to believe that wenger has taken note of this but that it is not filtering down to the players.

He talked of a “lack of maturity” from our side and he is absolutely correct. I had said here that despite our fine performances earlier this season, this habit of conceding goals late, however insignificant it might be, is NOT a healthy sign for the team.

It points towards a mental laxity that needs to be rectified or else it might cost us dearly in the long run as it has on SO MANY occasions in the recent past. And yes, it did not help that our manager lost it in the end as well.

What was more disappointing was that almunia and clichy, the more experienced members of the squad were just as guilty as well. Clichy specially needs to cut advertising his skills in front of the area, he doesnt seem to have learnt anything from the harsh lessons from the birmingham game the season before last.

He needs to learns from vermaelen ” you are a defender, get the ball? JUST HOOF IT OUT”. I would NOT blame diaby because of his age but has has to learn quickly, he is not exactly 17 you know. Both he and denilson gave the ball away too easily but worked hard.

Whatever we might say about our rivals especially united is that they dont give anything away whatever the circumstance be it whether they are 1-0 up or 5-0 up. This is something that our team needs to learn, and I am hopeful they will, because that is the mark of champions.

United were second best for most of the match but won. We were better for most of the match but shot ourselves in the foot as we have so many times in the recent past.

You could just detect a sense of anxiety and rattled rush about our team when the goals went in despite having sizeable chunk of time left on the clock. It was clear that we were losing composure when the pressuse was on.

Its up to wenger now to address this issue and bring a better sense of mental dicipline to the team because we dont lack much footballing wise.

I think we still need another quality defensive midfielder because we essentially have two players(song and denilson) doing the job of one(flamini). I think that is something that needs strengthening.

And my heart is filled with joy because I am starting to believe vermaelen is turning into the defender that we have been crying out for and I had been harping about for the last 2 seasons. The two centre backs were impeccable and were solid throughout.

So, all in all nothing to get panicky but very crucial lessons to learn. I would like to CONGRATULATE the team on a very commendable effort. Luck did not go our way as well but what is reassuring is that the team has improved immensely and learnt a lot.

I think this loss could well turn out to be a GREAT POSITIVE, if we address our issues competently. I think us slipping down the table saves us from unnecessary hype and keeps the team grounded to work harder.

And I personally admire a team that begins slowly and is behind at the start and GROWS STRONGER towards the end. This feature has characterized fergies title winning teams in the past and it would be a welcome characteristic to be incorporated in our lads.

It bodes well for us that unlike a lot of times recently were were up there with the best competing admirably.
Just a few more areas to work on, and a great thing or two may be achieved yet!

Cheers all!!

22. Will the whiners stop hanging our players out to dry every time a mistake is made in 1 game?

23. How must Arsene be feeling today.Since the Celtic game he has been defending one of his players against calls that he is a cheat and a diver. And then along comes Eboue.

24. Good write up there, Yogi! Amazing how you put things in perspective so damned often.
It’s too easy to blame Almunia. And RvP..am a bit tired of criticism of our players after every game. (Win or Lose).
Thought William had another amazing game…he’s on his way to semi-legend status.
Re: Almunia / Given..remember Safe Hands saying once about a certain ‘keeer “One for the cameras, that!”
Almunia makes 1 mistake and he’s blamed for us losing the game… come on!!

However, would love Jaskelainen… :-)
Like the sound of his name, too.

25. Pithily put, Luke..

26. Danish twat, how come you only show up here again after we lose a game?!

27. arsenal played real good.and i was very impressed with vemaelen link.luck just didnt favour us,but similar play will ensure 3 points againts mancity.and i wonder though, are english refs ever investigate for match fixing? especially for the ‘queens team’!

28. Great post naga gunner

This team needs to win nasty.Thats what Utd do.For all the great football they play they have a nasty streak. We dont. And it is down to Wenger. He needs to instill that mentality into this team. Its happened too much over the last two season in big games when the pressure is turn on we buckle
Sad to say another goal conceded froem a set piece ball into the box

29. The reason Arsene was so relaxed yesterday is the he knew we where the better side and that brings huge confidence, the flip side knowing that Ferguson will equally be aware he was lucky. The league was not won or lost yesterday and the good far outweighed the bad.If Almunia doesnt come Rooney can easily drill the ball across him.As for the cross he has 3 defenders jumping for the ball with no man utd player in sight so why come for it? Somewhat ironic that in the european cup semi at OT we where awful yet Almunia kept us in it,short memories indeed! You wont see a better save all season than Fosters and whilst i love Eboues versatility he is,er,a prat! The whole sending off of Arsene just added to the comedy officiating!

30. Don’t bother with the links, Muppet. The Sky Sports Sunday supplement was rubbish before, and it still is now. Don’t let a pseudo-compliment fool you.

31. PZ –
It’s a strange one, how we all deride the media, but i think, honestly, we’d like a bt of bloody praise from time to time.

Not from the MOTD Arsenal-haters though…that would stick in my craw.

32. “With Fabregas replacing Denilson they would be even better.”

It was that line that irritated me. It’s not very f*cking likely, is it?

33. Diaby needs some practice in backheading.

34. Having seen the replay a number of times, it is clear that Rooney dived. he was almost on the floor already before Almunia touched him. Even the picture in the papers clearly shows that, as Almunia’s legs are below Rooney’s torso, not by his legs.

The problem is that Rooney is English. Not only that but he is the main England striker now. It would be inconceivable for the FA the take any action against him, or even acknowledge that Saint Wayne might be guilty of cheating.

The same applies to the media who would never suggest that their favourite over regarded (so called world class) English player is a diver, despite that fact that it has been seen many times before, especially against us.

I remember a number of years ago, shortly before a world cup, Shearer, who was one of the dirtiest players I have ever seen, committed a disgisting foul and yet was not even booked.

When it comes to English heros, the media and the FA are blind.

35. Very very well said naga… LET US LEARN indeed!

Mental fortitude required aplenty. Our pacifying captain was missing and it showed. We so lacked calmness yesterday and we paid for it.

Things still look good though. ANy quality addition(s) welcome but if AW decides against it, so be it.

We are ARSENAL!

RASERS!!!!

36. It all evens out, Luke. In the game against Everton, Denilson attempted a pass back to Almunia, but accidentally scored at the other end. Yesterday, Diaby tried to make a clearance, but instead put the ball in his own net.

37. Yeah.. PZ.. the hacks are just now saying what we have been saying on here for a year. Get our injured players back, watch the youngsters mature, and we will be fucking awesome.

The point I wanted to make is that the hacks have just woken up to the fact that we have physical power, or rather, we have had physical power, but because of being decimated with injuries, it hasn’t always been apparent.

38. At least, someone has the good sense to act on an injustice.

LMA confirm Wenger will receive apology for ‘bottlegate’

Having been sent to the Old Trafford stands as punishment for kicking a bottle in the dying moments of Arsenal’s defeat to Manchester United yesterday evening, it appears that Arsene Wenger is set to receive an apology from refereeing chief Keith Hackett for the manner in which he was treated.

Richard Bevan, Chief Executive of the League Managers Association, has told Sky Sports News that after speaking with Keith Hackett, the French coach will not be punished any further.

“Although correct in law, it was completely out of context in the game and it was followed by the nonsense over where Arsene Wenger should sit,” Bevan stated.

“I have spoken to Keith Hackett and he fully recognises the situation as an error and an apology will follow to Arsene Wenger.

“Lee Probert, who was the fourth official, totally failed to manage the situation and created a needless pressure point taking the focus away from the pitch in a big event with only a minute to go.”

39. Really hope the crass boo-ing of Eduardo doesn’t go on and on – it probably will, however; he’s a tough lad and just hope it makes him raise his game to shut them up.

~ Another topic: Who is the worst( most scared of Red-nose/anti-Arsena) referee ?

Riley ? Dean ?

40. I am not worried in the least by the results at Old Trafford yesterday. YW has it right, despite our injuries to crucial offensive players, we were superior to ManU in every department. We were robbed by Mike Dean, plain and simple. For Fletcher and Rooney to leave the field unscathed after their clattering and diving respectively tells you how inept and dishonest he was.
My only problem is the squeamish wobbly fans we have, coming on this board and others to slate our players rather than give them support they deserve. Individually and as a unit they gave more than we could have asked. Stop picking on our players when it is abundantly clear that there is a stench of hypocrisy all over the English game that we must overcome to win the title.

41. frank 11:03

your vision in this respect is clear and I agree completely..

___Ye Gunners__

42. Heh – just missed that one, Luke.. is this a first ???
Are there actually some decent, fair-minded people out there ?

43. Alex, go check out my comments on LG, etc….around the same time I posted on ACLF. I think you will be amused by your own comments!

44. ponyboy

very few players have the mental strength Dudu has.. the booing will continue from the big team fans who are the biggest hypocrites.. but it will only pose to strengthen him..

this season is ours for the taking.

45. Maybe I should post it again on today’s comments, especially since I have a bunch of admirers on this site…so here goes…

_____________

So everyone’s disappointed we lost.

I am sorry we lost, but am still quite optimistic…this is not the end of the world for us.

Just want to make a few points :

1. This team has heart. They ran and they ran and they ran till the whistle.

2. It is early days yet. Losing to the mancs is not the disaster that everyone seems to think it is. We have a whole season to go, to say nothing of the international break (which has been a bigger problem for us than losing a game).

3. The team that ran rings around the mancs was a team without Fabregas, Rosicky, Nasri, Theo and Vela. Spend a moment thinking what our first team should look like and the bench strength we have!

4. The next three teams in the league are City, Wigan and Fulham. What will be important in these three games is how we play, how Arsene rotates and whether we can keep a clean sheet. Nine points from the three games will keep the fires burning till the winter.

BTW, I know some of you think that we don’t need to rotate at the beginning of the season, but that’s how you keep your best players rested as we approach the crunch months of December, Jan and Feb, which is the period when we have struggled in the past.

5. Success in October hinges around the Champions League. The UCL draw has been kind to us. We have Std Liege and Olympiacos next month. It will be important for us to get full points from all three. If we can play Wengerball away at Liege and get a tennis score, that will really set the season up.

6. Th most important thing is that everyone comes back from the international break fit and raring to go.

Plus, don’t forget, we could get some unexpected presents on the 2nd of Sept! I am still putting my money on a CB, with maybe a DM and a forward. My guess is Subotic (yes, I know he just signed a new contract), Matuidi and Chamakh.

Lastly, if I may allow myself the indulgence of a curse – I almost choked when I saw Lasagna playing in the same team as Kaka, Ronaldo, etc…may he burn in hell forever! We should have locked him up in the freezer and forced him to serve out his contract! Arsene was too nice to him.

On the other hand, AW might just be getting his mojo back – he did kick an unsuspecting bottle yesterday!

BTW, how many red cards did we pick up per season in the Arsene years while we were winning stuff and how many did we pick up in the last five years since Paddy left?

46. Ponyboy

Here’s a link to one of several reports on the same: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=672074&cc=4716

47. PDT,

What about the comment before the season began that “it is a pity Wenger paid off Denilson’s and Song’s parents instead of Cristiano Ronaldo’s”?

48. F. Frederick Skitty

Football is beginning to nauseate me.

I love this team, as is, and feel that we above all the other teams in the Prem deserve some credit and support. If we are not derailed and Wenger brings his vision into full implementation, this will be the one of the greatest achievements of any manager.

It beggars belief that Arsenal, the only big team that tries to do things correctly, has now been tarnished as cheats by the mass media.

I’m not a fuddy-duddy, but whatever happened to the idea of justice in football? We have effectively just lost 6 points against Manure, because of the Eduardo incident. Isn’t it reprehensible that referees’ performances can be so transparently affected by the inconclusive Eduardo penalty? What possible hope is there for the game when this type of “jungle justice” is meted out by refs? How does it instil a respect for sportsmanship in the young, rather than gamesmanship when they see Rooney perform an even more blatant dive and get rewarded for it?

All this is validated by even the “quality press”
Duncan White of the Telegraph says:

“True, when Manuel Almunia, the Arsenal goalkeeper, came flying out to challenge Wayne Rooney, the England striker started to go down before contact was made. But there was substantial contact, unlike with the Eduardo incident, so it was a penalty”

Does this make any sense?

I’m fearful that we will suffer significant decisions going against us for the rest of the season – and for what really? We have been found guilty and sentenced even before UEFA sit down to look at the situation.

This very real injustice has come about because of our media that is like a rabid dog baying indiscriminately for blood.

I just pray that we can use this, truly astonishing anti-Arsenal climate, to galvanise ourselves and really savage the rest of the premiership and let the hacks and doom-mongrels words taste like ashes in their mouths.

Btw is there a classier man alive than our very own Arsene Wenger? This man is a breed apart and his stoicism will only add to the coming glory.

49. Cheers Luke.. good to see.

Although i wasn’t there, have heard he got “that chant” all through the game.. how he handles it; never mentions it – what a man!

50. :-)

Nice to be remembered!

Wouldn’t you have liked to have Ronaldo wearing our colours over the last few years? Arsene did try to get him as he admitted last year.

Of course, now you will say – prove that Arsene actually said that….

So long as we play the way we played yesterday, I am happy.

Plus I have my own stalker!

51. Good post F. Frederick Skitty.

52. PDT,

You can flatter yourself all you like but that bullshit comment is one that I would have remembered on any forum or any blog. You have consistently been a fan who gets on the media bandwagon.

If the media says ‘we lack depth’ you will agree, if the media says ‘we are not physical’, you will yelp in agreement and most shamefully last season when some pundits in the media said ‘Wenger should go’, you followed suit and changed your blogging user name to ‘Fire Wenger’.

These are facts. So keep believing that you are an independent thinker. Delusion is the corner stone of scizophrenia.

53. Skitty…feel i’m always just a step behind.. yes, Arsene is a true Renaissance man; he is knowledgable about World politics, economics, can speak 5 languages, is a loving husband and father..
And, apparently, he knows a bit about football.
Wonder why he is hated, eh ?

It was said of Julius Ceasar that every man felt inferior to him, and that was why eventually he was killed.

54. Whilst there are a lot of positives to be taken from yesterday’s game, there are still areas that are cause for concern imo:

1. Almunia is not good enough and culpable to an extent for both goals.

2. Eboue, whilst playing well recently, was back to his tricks again yesterday – diving, asking for opponents to get booked, shitting himself when given a good goal scoring opportunity. If he always played like he did against Celtic then I wouldn’t have these concerns but can’t help but think he is not really good enough for Arsenal.

3. Ramsay – was he really the best option? His passing was poor, his crossing was worse and I don’t think he made one positive contribution in the 15/20 mins he was on. I think Wilshere offers so much more and would have added a bit more of a threat and creativity.

Everyone has been going on about how we matched Utd but where we didn’t match them was in mental strength – once they equalised there was only going to be one winner. This team needs to learn how to put a team away once they get in front – yesterday did not demonstrate that they have learned the lessons from previous seasons where we have conceded pts when the game should have been in the bag.

Oh and how many times do we have to put up with Mike Dean – this guy is absolutely hopeless. And card happy with it.

55. Oh shut up zicoinexile. How about using your articulate writing to look on the positive side.

56. Excellent post Yogi: Level-headed as always.
Excellent views in the comments section too; this group here ranks among the best Arsenal forums out there.
Our performance, as has been pointed out, was quite wonderful in most key areas of the pitch. But I do wonder if we need some rigorous defensive coaching to become the complete team. The first choice back 4 have been quite wonderful so far, and do inspire confidence; Song has been a wonderful surprise too, and long may that continue. But I do think we need to work specifically and thoroughly on defending set pieces and such. Without that, I fear we might be shooting ourselves in the foot.

57. Where you been Pb?

Popping up every now and again. You must get Sunday off. I lke the Caesar quote.

Someone mentioned earlier that there should be a poster relesed of Arsene amongst the manc trash. I agree and would but one instantly.

What an image.

58. Oh, by the way, the fans at the Pompey game are singing ‘Same old arsenal, always cheating’.

Such wit, insight and charm.

59. I am very glad for the population of rational people on this blog, cheers to you YW for fostering a place like this and for setting the tone.

I’m still utterly crushed about the result but the blow is lessened by the obvious quality we have. The reason for silly mistakes can be worked on, class can not.

The Man City game is huge, I hope the team uses them as whipping boys.

60. I would say that both goals were down to Almunia but there aren’t too many others out there who are much better.Given should have been snapped up before the Citeh deal was done.
Otherwise I feel that it’s a matter of focus.Denilson and Diaby seem to lose concentration all too often-at the worst possible times and with diasterous results!.Also it’s critical that in the big games we are able to take chances when they are created. If Van Persie had made it 2-0 we would have strolled to the win!The new formation is far better from a defensive perspective and Vermaelen could turn out to be the season’s “Best Buy”.If the side continue to improve and the absentees come back firing on all cylinders then the season COULD be a prosperous one. It’s crucial that Citeh are put to the sword otherwise a “good start” will grind to a halt.Lastly I would like to tell Eboue to stay on his feet and try to use the one or two brain cells that he might have floating around in his head!!

61. There is an excellent post by Tony Attwood over at Untold Arsenal today.

http://blog.emiratesstadium.info/?p=1248&cpage=1#comment-5620

It says it all.

62. I would like to know why none of our board makes any complaint about the vile chanting that Arsene has to put up with. It also goes to show how classless boards and managers of other clubs are. They are happy to take any advantage they can instead of condemning such appalling behavior. The football authorities silence is also deafening. Alex Ferguson complained about the fans close to him at the Emirates last season but what about the filth that Arsene had to endure after being wrongly dismissed yesterday?

63. What are the goals of Arsenal football club this season?

If you ask me I think they are still too shallow.

Yesterday, simple truths could be culled from the match.

Arsenal played good football, but still had TOO MUCH respect for Man Utd, even when they were playing like relegation battlers.

Truth is some off the players still fail to have as much belief in themselves as their ability shows.

Players like manuel almunia, and emmanuel eboue continue to suffer from inferiority complexes, Eboue in particular, as he fails to realize his strengths which include his flair that gives him that level of unpredictability.

Song, Denilson pairing is quickly gaining viability as on of the best defensive pairings in modern football, things change, always, but the speed of their growth in anticipation, technique and communication is amazing. At this rate they’ll be the BEST in the world by the end of the season at best, at worst, the beginning of next.

MENTAL STRENGTH CONTINUES TO BE TAUTED AS ARSENAL’S WEAKNESS.
understanding the solution is 75% solved by understanding the question.

the real question is WHAT IS MENTAL STRENGTH?

I feel we should not underestimate the power of our opinions, as everybody working together will always be more efficient than 1 monarch. Everyone hasa something to bring to the table. So now the table is set.

1st question. What is arsene STILL doing wrong?

Pls think before you respond!

64. Sixtay, am still thinking. Your polls and surveys always bamboozle me.

65. He’s some knid of nutter, isn’t he?

66. Amos,

I could’nt agree more. Arsene has been tolerating that vile subhuman chant for god knows how many years now. Unfortunately Manc scum fans have taken AW’s silent strength as a weakness and are continuing their despicable behaviour.

I know we cant reach AW to tell him our disgust at this but we can write in to Arsenal.com expressing our outrage at the continued villification of our highly respected manager and how our club has a responsibility to register a strong protest with the FA and David Gill of Manchester United about this.

Now that you have brought this up I’m going to write into Arsenal.com tomorrow. If we can all get together am sure we will get somewhere with this.

67. Video link to Fletcher’s foul on Arshavin in the box which was ignored by Mike Dean.

http://arsenalist.com/2009/08/29/arsenal-vs-manchester-united-highlights-2/

68. Still feeling a bit dissapointed however this team will win the PL and I dare say the other CL teams should be afraid. We dont have a team of bought superstars but a team that has mostly been playing together for years who just seem to know mostly what the other player in thinking, its brilliant. You can also see the love for eachother, a brotherhood!

Please dont worry about our strikers, RVP namely, what could he have done differently about the foster save or the cross bar? This guy is great and the ball will start going in soon and we will steam roll the rest of the PL!
Yu best believe it!

Its such a blessing to watch our Arsenal!! I am so proud!

69. Muppet – I was just voicing my opinion (I assume its allowed) so I won’t shut up.

Its all very well to talk about the positives from the game, but we never won it, and need to ask ourselves why when it was within our hands to do so.

70. @Alex: Which would you I do, sit here and HOPE. I believed we accomplished something before, pinpointing the need for everyone to defend from the front. I refuse to believe it was mere coincidence. Word spreads, and if you noticed something, whose to say that Arsene did too? I want to help with whatever I can, in what ever way possible. I have my opinions, but, as iron sharpenth iron, I NEED YOURS TOO! We can’t sit here and console ourselves that we “did well”. The truth is, we played them of the park, BECAUSE WE ARE A BETTER TEAM. We all knew this before the game started, at we still know this even after the loss. But in the same way a shock defeat to bottom table teams should cause soul searching, so should it be WHENEVER WE LOOSE TO A TEAM WE SHOULD EASILY HAVE BEATEN. I ignore past reputation when decisions come to the fore. Things change, and things have changed. Arsenal IS MUCH BETTER. The faster we understand that, the better! So quit fighting me and HELP me, cos WE BOTH WANT THE SAME THING!

71. @Alex:

-”I know we cant reach AW”

Who say’s we can’t?

72. zicoinexile, we lost because of a couple of mistakes and a bad ref.

Let Wenger work it out.

What pains me is the gas some silly so called Arsenal fans poured on the fire of the eduardo situation! now you have class less Man u fans booing the guy. Not that i care what they think but we shouldnt be helping, damn it!

tooth are you happy?

73. Last week we were a good team this week we are a shite team. Hopefuly next week we can be a good team again.

74. Sixtay,

I hear you have AW’s contact on your skype and messenger. Do you send him tweets too?

As ‘Iron sharpeth iron’ ! You should have been a poet Sixtay.

Anyway for what its worth, I want AW to apply a magic healing touch to Rosicky’s hamstring and Nasri’s foot to get them back on the field. Then I want him to tell the team to give as good as they get.

75. Duke we are still a good team, a great team to me, if anyone says different they need help.

76. @Paul N:

“Please dont worry about our strikers, RVP namely, what could he have done differently about the foster save or the cross bar?”

You seem to have chosen to ignore his weakness when composure and decision taking comes into question. van Persie seems to have been affected by his recent goal drought. If I were arsene I’d rest him in one of our weak games, and if we were 2 or 3 goals up, I’d bring him in, give him the license to shot from where ever, and hope he grabs a double.

And RVP could do with a little tutulage from eduardo when it comes to finding the right balance btw Shot Accuracy and shot power. No sense in rifling it in from 4 yards now is there?

77. “Let Wenger work it out.”

I disagree. let’s all work it out.

What diaby’s REAL problem. Is he dealing with too much pressure?

78. Paul N.. I was being sarcastic.

Anyway lets look at this shall we, last season playing Denilson, Diaby, Song n Eboue together we often struggled but yesterday like the start of this season they look stronger , fitter better more muture ready for the prem players. They outplayed the mancs in their own yard. this team is ready for a tilt at the title.

79. @Alex: I get continually shocked by the limitations you ascribe too you influence in the happening around us. YOU STILL DON’T EVEN KNOW WHO I AM.

I have a lot of respect for your ability to read a game. that’s why I ask here. ACLF seems to be the most technically astute blog out there. Now if only you would expand your understanding of the realms of possibility for a minute or two, YOU’D HELP ARSENAL FC! Now think deeper, what did arsene miss? Where did he get It wrong, could a Bendtner start really have made the difference, or was eboue’s form going into the game enough to see him selected ahead?

80. We showed yesterday that we are good enough to win this league. And we also helped United to think they are better than they are to boot.

This performance has proved to me, we are better than United and the whole footballing world saw it, although I doubt they will want to admit it.

Fuck em, I say!

81. sixtay;

Are you taking the piss, or are you really that mush of a prick?

82. Sixtay, the frightening thing is this team has not finished growing. The players may not be there yet mentally but I think this loss will be a blessing in disguise.

83. I figured that Duke, just saying..

84. Sixtay “YOU CAAANT BE SERIOUS!”

85. zico;

Sorry, but you are full of shite mate. We were the better team, even without a host of players. Bad luck did for us and there are soooo many pisitives to take from this game. We outplayed the mancs at their gaff and will show it come may. We play like we did yeasterday on a regulat basis and we will beat every team in the league, quite comfortably.

But no, you carry on being a miserable sod!

86. Sixtay has this illusion that he’s Arsene’s mentor…

87. Spike:

“This performance has proved to me, we are better than United and the whole footballing world saw it, although I doubt they will want to admit it.”

You should be quicker of the mark. This tone seems to be echoed by MOST Arsenal fans out there. Content with playing better than Man U really gets to me!

THEY LOST TO BURNLEY FOR PETE’S SAKE!!

Live it alone. Man U is Shit. Imagine them going down to their next opposition 2-0, Would your high horse still feel so high. Get off now and focus on what you did wrong, and how to make it right!

88. Luke,

I’m not, BUT COLLECTIVELY WE ARE!!

89. We lost to hull and Fulham last year, beat Chelsea and Man U and finsihed 4th, what on earth does Man U losing to Burnley prove?

90. sixtay;

Thanks for the response. And answering my question about whether you were taking the piss or being a prick.

We beat United last season and they went on a long winning run, so what IS your point, not just about the game, but in general terms?

Coz I am nit sure you have one.

91. Nothing, really. But that’s not the point. My point is the solace we want to draw from our defeat isn’t necessary. WE SHOULD KNOW WE ARE BETTER THAN THEM. I think we are thinking TOO small. Man Utd is shit. Liverpool is thin, and I wonder how many Chelsea fans they’ll be next January (They’re getting slower by the minute). We need to realize quickly that Arsene’s policies of the yesteryears are beginning to bear fruit. The faster we realize this (Players AND fans), the better. The same liverpool team that played so bad at the beginning of last season, almost crashing out of the UCL at the 3rd qualifying stage, became a real threat, mostly because they put a string of lucky wins together. WE NEED TO BELIEVE IN OURSELVES. Probably the perfect approach to any game is simple. Show EVERY team RESPECT, yet show NO team RESPECT.

92. We are better!

93. Oh, OK, lets believe, group hug everyone!

94. Consols –
Been washing my mouth out with soap and Dettol.

And, obviously, studying the tactics of Gaius Julius.

“Et tu Alex ?” as they ride off into the sunset ?

95. If the club made an issue about “that” chant then I’m pretty sure it would just be adopted further by mindless cock’s from other clubs. Having said that, it’s a matter that the Manc’s own board should be dealing with, condemnation from them in the match day program at the very least you’d have thought.

Infact for them not to do so implies at best a tolerance of it’s use or at worst an endorsement of it’s use as a “fair game” psychological tool. Then again, maybe the board feel they daren’t provoke the ire of their loyal but smelly following.

If “Sir” Fergie had an ounce of decency about him he’d feel compelled to speak out surely, just as I’m pretty sure Arsene would were the roles reversed. That’s Fergie though, his class as a man can only be realised when just about everything about the c@nt is ignored or glossed over.

Arsene is a true gentleman of substance and undeniable class. However, how glorious would it have been if he’dve turned, got his lad out and pissed all over the Manc’s in their own stadium. Fuck the fine, I’d have paid it!

96. good post yogi.gutted about yesterdays result but we can take a lot of positives from the game .this team will bounce back we can be sure about that.

97. My point we are ALREADY GOOD! Probably the best team in England! NOW WE NEED TO START PLAYING LIKE WE BELIEVE THAT. I get the feeling that winning nothing for the past 5 years have installed an undeserving mentality in us. Now we need to comeback to our “INVINCIBLE” morale. That will probably come eventually if we win everything. But MUST we wait that long. Go through the performances of every team in the league now and we shouldn’t be winning any team by a single goal margin, LET ALONE LOOSING! We are better than that, but to primitive to see it yet. We were all waiting for a win against Man u to “PROVE OUR CRITICS WRONG”. Really who cares about them. We should focus on proving OURSELVES right! We are the Arsenal!! Best team in the world! Most dynamic team ever!

Notice that EVERY PLAYER (except almunia) can play at LEAST TWO POSITIONS. Now when Gallas swashbuckles forward, Song slots seamlessly into defence.

Everybody feels it should pay off EVENTUALLY!!

!!!!!BULLSH*T!!!!!

I believe it should pay off NOW!!!

So what, NOW, Should arsene do to IMPROVE the team ever so slightly more?

98. One loss is not paying off? discount how many goals w e have scored?

persepctive please

99. Sixtay..
Anyone who says “For Pete’s sake” gets my vote.. (whatever that’s worth) ~ but…just how much shite are you going to write ?
They lost to Burnley… so ? We weren’t exactly committed against the ‘weak’ teams last season.
It’s a shame really – losing to Burnley made them wake up.

100. F. Frederick Skitty

There are many positives to take from the game, we did outplay them.

BUT…we almost always outplay the opposition and have done for years. I don’t think it is treason to ask what we need that will push us into the realm of domination that our technical capabilities warrant.

We have had very bad luck with injuries and decisions over the last few years. We all live in hope that this will change, but that game was there for the taking yesterday regardless.

I do think that time is an essential factor, these players are developing fast and our forgiveness for their mistakes is a really important part of that . I just hope that they can develop that real grit (not necessarily of the English variety), which has never been an Arsenal trait during the Wenger era. Hopefully it is something that does come with experience….

I don’t want to scapegoat, but I do think we’d benefit from a truly world class ‘keeper. Almunia is a decent keeper, but excellence would be nice. Of course finding a great ‘keeper is another thing.

We are so close to something phenomenal, this season is just so important. I hope we bounce back strongly from this, because I do feel that sometimes we get knocked too far off course by set-backs. A good win at Man City would be just the tonic.

101. Spike,

“Oh, OK, lets believe, group hug everyone!”

lol, not a bad start! but drop the joke for a second, cos YOU can help. Think outside the box, what did arsene do wrong?

102. Ponyboy,

“losing to Burnley made them wake up.”

Did they really wake up, or did we go to sleep!

103. Have you spent the summer in the gym, Ponyboy? You seem to have bulked up your satirical muscles.

104. “We weren’t exactly committed against the ‘weak’ teams last season.”

I agree. That’s why we won the PREM last season…o wait!

105. Hehe… I spend my time between rehab. and padded cells, Polizi…
And, erm, yes, i actually got a girlfriend!! Well, online.. but it’s a start!

You ? Spending time with Silvio i hope…

106. sixtay;

Well, his choice of tie was his biggest mistake yesterday if you asm me, which you did, so I ansered, so lets move on, if we can, that’d be nice.

107. Still making a lot of sense I see, Pb.

Another virtual girlfriend?

Will you never learn?

108. I’ve never had the pleassure, Ponyboy. Silvio, as you call him, prefers the company of glamour models – that’s bog-standard topless models, to you and me.

109. Spike,

Probably, but other than his mistiming of the volley (Bearing in mind that vanPersie went for the near post with his first real chance, even with a defender AND the goal keeper blocking that route), what much else did he do wrong. Bitter about the dive are we?

110. Consols –
The pyschiatrist thinks it unlikely. And, hell, you can’t argue with the wanker – swot you bullied at school, can you ?

Doctor please! Some more of these… Ativan..
Mmmm…
CB and PZ…please report to Yogi at once…we are off topic…

111. Truth is, when will we be good enough:

1. To win the League

– Soon if not now

2. To win a Cup

- Probably already!

But do we want a short term remedy to our frustrations, OR DO WE WANT A TEAM FOR THE AGES! I want Arsenal to revolutionize football. The coming of the 4 – 4 – 2. Did that! It’s good to see wenger thinking outside the box with our new formation (or lack there of).

But when should we consider ourselves good Enough,

!!!!!!!!NEVER!!!!!!!!

We can get better, we know we can, so why are we putting it off for “Eventuality”? It’ll NEVER come until we do something about it?

112. Fred skitty,

“I don’t want to scapegoat, but I do think we’d benefit from a truly world class ‘keeper. Almunia is a decent keeper, but excellence would be nice. Of course finding a great ‘keeper is another thing.”

True but decent can always get better. Almunia got better to prove a certain mad man wrong. Necessity is the mother of invention. I think he rushed out to not get outdone by the rest of the team. Before that he had had no saves to make. Immature if you ask me but in reality learning from your mistakes include reacting to stimulus. In previous games he had been criticised for “switching off”. That must have prompted the over-reaction. Good to see the suttle evolution. Hopefully he’ll get it right sooner rather than later if someone points it out to him!

113. Anyone yet to realize WHY our defence has “become” so good at reading situations?

114. A Celtic player booked for diving?
Why? Because of Eddy of course.

http://www.celtic.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=168322

115. Sorry, Anyone yet to realize WHY our DEFENDERS have “become” so good at reading situations?

116. Does your psychiatrist need any more work, Pb?

There seems to be someone who, you might have noticed, could do with some attention. Either that or a visit to the chemist.

As for the topic, I haven’t the heart to ‘debate’ it.

I just want to smash all the other teams we play, Sky Sports, ESPN, all sports writers, old red nose, AND ANYBODY ELSE WHO GETS IN OUR WAY!!

117. Yoiu are bit of a fruit loop fella arent we.

118. CB,
lol

119. Sixtay,

You either have an insanely acute sense of taking the piss or are the leading glutton for punishment this side of the Atlantic. So tell me WHICH ONE IS IT!!??

120. notlager…I am laughing my ass off. That is the funniest thing I’ve read in a good long while. Serves those fuckwhits right.

Sixtay, you couldn’t work yourself out of a paper bag. Leave well alone.

121. Are we going to listen to talk sport call that celtic player a cheat for 4 days now then!!!

122. Nigerian gunner

Alex – let him talk, would you rather I read your jokes. It’s pointless using a thread for solely entertainment. Help the man!

123. Dont hold your breath mate.

Sixtay;

Feel free to hold your breath for a very long time.

124. Andy Dunn is a Cunt.

125. thanks NG –

Most armchair analysts have the blessing of hindsight, yet we fail to use it to influence the future with it. WE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE NEED FOR EVERYONE TO TRACK BACK AND WE GOT IT. Why are we so hesitant to find something else truely wrong with the performance? That’s one of the better ways to aid the team.

126. If only you had that blessing, Sixtay. In fact, any kind of sight would do – hindsight, insight, foresight. Alas, you lack them all.

127. You are a wind up merchant! Talkin shite like its goin out of fashion!

128. Pz and Spike: You’d think I was a troll the way u guys r handling me. Constructive criticism is all.

I’m starting tho feel you’re resort to the insults because u CAN’T contribute, true?

129. I hate Ade and was glad we sold him.But i thought Wenger would use the 25m to buy a replacement.he didnt and in 3 league games RVP hasnt scored a goal while Ade has scored 3 goals.

Wenger has sold a 25 goal a season striker and hasnt replaced him.RVP win never score 25 league goals in a lifetime

The Citeh game is now a 6 pointer

130. Sorry, I’m starting to feel you’re resorting to the insults because u CAN’T contribute, true?

131. sixtay;

You are chatting shite, not making any sense, so how am I sposed to “handle” you?

th14

So, RvP hasnt contributed anything this season? The team has scored a shit load of goals and you are whininh about Robin not scoring FFS!

Why is that?

132. “The Citeh game is now a 6 pointer”

HA HA!! Classic. Have you actually watched them play?

133. And you are contributing to the EU bullshit mountain very nicely sixtay

134. At spike: pls correct my points where u see fit, instead of resorting to personal attacks. They just make u seem immature!

135. C’mon Duke, be reasonable.

That Celtic player learnt to cheat by playing Arsenal. Prior to that game, he had never come across ‘cheating’ in his entire career.

Nor had any commentator, pundit or jounalist.

136. Why are we so hesitant to find something else truely wrong with the performance? That’s one of the better ways to aid the team.
————————————————–

Where the fuck do i start with that then?

137. If you ask me I think RVP needs to drop deeper more often instead of trying to beat the offside line. He should rely on his shot power. Nothing says he must change his role as a supporting striker. B52 is there for target man duties, and AA is there to thread the passes. He should focus on dropping deep to gain space and letting one rip from distance. I feel the drought is getting to him though

138. Sixtay

Last season in the head to heads we were better than Utd but they won the title and we didnt. Why? because they can beat the shit teams and cant,
we have a weaker team than last season.we can dominate team for 90 mins but who out of our strikers will score the goals.
Wenger has to buy a striker or its another 4th place finish and a class goal keeper

139. How does looking for negatives on a blog aid the team?

Thats why I cant take you seriously. That is hilarious. If you believe that then I apologise for calling you a wind up merchant. Your condition is far worse, sorry.

140. Anywhere spike. just start. I’ve already pointed out almunia’s need to join proceedings. I’ll go on to point out AA’s lack of stamina. your turn!

141. th14;

If you think the squad is weaker than last season, then you obviously havent got a clue dude.

The back 4 is stronger, the team is better and we have already shown we do not rely on a striker to get us the goals.

And I notice United have already wiped the floor woth the weaker teams havent they? Like Burnley…

True though, I think the league will be won by the team who beats the lso called weaker teams, and not the results against the likes of the chavs, united and Lpool.

142. Matt Lawton, Daily Mail: “Yes there was contact.”

http://link.brightcove.com/services/…id=36103517001

143. “Wenger has to buy a striker or its another 4th place finish and a class goal keeper”

I TOTALLY agree! then we should convert Eduardo to a DM. Worked for Alan Smith didn’t!

GET OVER YOUR FRUSTRATIONS MAN!

144. Sixtay

Its not how you play its how you win.Citeh win ugly we dont.If we lose v Citeh we will be 6pts behind them.Citeh are winning games and playing shit.

145. Sixtay;

You can try and look for all the negatives you want, for me, thats a pretty lame existence and one that will lead you to even more frustration in your life.

So, tell me, did you not receive enough love and encouragement as a child?

146. “How does looking for negatives on a blog aid the team?”

Brilliant question. Did you block access to ACLF from members of Arsenal staff? whose to say an influencial figure isn’t amongst us?

147. I was struck at how similar this loss was to our victory against celtic. The entire team played very well. The vultures who are quick to criticize the team when they suffer a defeat need to STFU.

148. Spike

Who is going to score the goals Ade used to?.rvp and bendtner wont

149. Helpus;

WE are brilliantly so should have no fears about playing City.

150. we are playing brilliantly, I mean.

151. Help us;

Are you kidding? How many goals do you want?

152. Help us;

I dont think it is the attack that needs strengthening. We could do with some defensive cover and a midfielder would be nice.

153. Fergie’s got her groove back! I told u this loss was a blessing in disguise, now united think they’re the globetrotters again…lmao!

http://www.skynews.com.au/sport/article.aspx?id=367804

154. Spike we have scored loads of goals but in one game. You only need to win 1-0 to get 3 pts

We will not win the league if we are relying on Rvp to score 25 plus league goals

155. Help us: You should be watching basketball, that should quench you insatiable thirst for “goals”

156. Damn doorknob!

157. “We will not win the league if we are relying on Rvp to score 25 plus league goals”

who said we were?

158. Help Us;

But we arent relying on RvP to score 25 goals.

159. Stop copying me Sixtay!

160. If you haven’t noticed, WE ARE PLAYING LIKE A TEAM! There’s no over-realiance on a specific player to perform any duty! everyone does everything. Responsibilities are for everyone, and yet for no-one at the same time!

161. Spike, at least we’re agreeing on something!

162. ALEEEEEEEEEEEEX!!!!! where’s he when you need him?

163. Yeah, it is rather scary isnt it!

164. hey spike, notice we’re the only ones here? weird. Hope it has not’n to do with me!

165. I’m getting out of here. Sixtay and his Football Eureka Moments is too much for me.

166. We should sell RvP, Bendtner, Eduardo, Vela, Theo, Arshavin and sign Kevin Davies.

167. A Manure fan tells me that he has been looking over statistics of Asernal-Man U matches and it looks like after the exit of Vierra and Keane, every other time the team that went on to win the title always surely lost in the first tie up away. he also points out at the FA Cup match where Man U had 23 shots on goal and we had single digits but we won on penalties and the 2-0 win away at Old Trafford. Last season when we had all our injury nighmares and we were to field an understrenth side but we ‘stole’ the match and Man U got the cup. I sure hope those statistics are true. Anyway we had great performance but I think Wenger needs to sign a Goal Keeper, a striker and a midfielder for purposes of cover especially now that Fab is out and Ash maybe out for some time too (if that knock he picked is bad) as well as keeping the pressure on the first eleven to perform or get benched. Great performance that should help us in confidence. If we did not get past Man U we should give Mark Hughes the reality check.

168. @luke: no it’s not, your just being too lazy!

169. The problem with signing a new player is how long it will take for him to understand “Wengerball”

170. Team chemistry is paramount ATM, a player with individual brilliance will suffer if we sign him. Ibrahimovic knows what I’m talking about! Aweful performance against Shaktar!

171. Sixtay

How long did it take AA to understand wengerball 30 secs?

Quality players can play in any system

172. Nasir Jones-Nasri

We’re winning the league, no doubt about it. The refs can’t do that to us every game. Wenger’s new formation has proved formidable, and I don’t see anyone in the league coping with our style of play. Our squad doesn’t need one bit of strengthening.

173. Sixtay

how long did it take AA to get used to Wengerbal?l

No new signings no top 3 finish

174. We will finish 4th because our first 11 is top class but our squad isnt.We need to sign 3 players before its too late.C’mon wenger you can see what we can

175. Change of name, same old shite…

176. Nasir Jones-Nasri

We can tell you read far too many English newspapers. You prick. Fuck off.

177. Sixtay,

You have just about the weirdest way to put your point across. In your own style – TOGETHER we can help you PUT your point across WITHOUT being misunderstood.

If your grouse is against arm chair managers and knee jerk reactions of shallow fans I am with you. If I have misunderstood your intentions once again, then god help me and you.

178. We can see you sneaking out,

Please dont sneak out on us. We know you are Howard/ Patrick/ 4th the target.

179. Any signings yet? I’m excited, only a fool won’t sign 3 players now. 40M, we could get 1 top 10 player, and 2 midtable best players. Or 1 top 10 player, and 1 player from the big three from all the leagues.

180. “how long did it take AA to get used to Wengerball?”

right. I’m tired of the constant AA references. It serves to prove that Arsene actually knows how to remedy a situation. AA was bought in to aid the team in Fabregas’s (and rosicky’s) absence as a lack of creativity in midfield was causing 0-0 draws. Now that the team is oozing creativity and player returns are on the horizon, there is no need for new players.

181. @We can see you sneeking out,

“No new signings no top 3 finish”

Stop making shallow statements and suggest who we should buy!

182. I am jumping up from my seat every 3 seconds because of all the excitement Ateeb. I say its time for a mass clear out.

Clearly the youth strategy is not working. So, just off the cuff –

Sell Randall, Traore, Hoyte, Eboue, Senderos and anyone else I have forgotten who is’nt a big name.

We should easily get 30 million for these players. Clearly.

Now for the buying part. I love this part because it is so easy to do on football manager and Pro Evo. There are no negotiations, no agent trouble, no bidding wars and no other f*ck ups. Easy peasy.

Buy Benzema (so what if he just signed for Madrid) for 15 million (dont ask me how), then buy the tallest lump of a human being playing football for the defense. If that is Hangeland, Subotic, Naldo i dont care. Just buy the tallest chap ok? Budget – 10 million.

Now for the midfield enforcer. Sunderland paid 5 million for Cana with no competing bids. I think this is a great sign! We can get him partners. Bid 8 million.

Now if I can see this, why cant…..

183. Superb performance yesterday, particularly with the injuries we have suffered and the distraction in the week. The cohesion of the team was excellent. Excellent captaincy from RvP who was everywhere. Unlucky with Foster’s reaction save. Always a game with few chances, but we looked the better team. The Mancs were very lucky. No wonder AW was smiling. This part of the season is about gauging our abilities against other contenders. We compare very, very well with the Mancs.

…We will win the league this year…..

….Arsenal…..

184. Sixtay,

“I feel we should not underestimate the power of our opinions, as everybody working together will always be more efficient than 1 monarch. Everyone hasa something to bring to the table. So now the table is set.”

Excellent comment, couldn’t agree more. Your philosophical approach to the understanding of football, is only second to YW here. Great depth in your analysis.

185. Damn YW!

186. frank,

“Good lord”

??

187. Dont worry Sixtay, you are not much behind YW. Now pass me the glue.

188. Frank

We will not win the league unless we learn to hold on to 1-0 leads.

Also Eboue must not start games against good teams.Play him in the CC ok but not against top 4 opposition

RVP is now RVPbarndoor

189. George Graham:

Name says it all really!

NEEEEEEEEEEEEEXTTT!!!

190. Alex, Cb, and others,

Come on guys, give Sixtay a break. How many times are you going to drive out people with differing opinion from this site? I can’t even keep count anymore. Nymarcus, JonJon, Gazzap, Howard, half of AIC, and the recently departed Lagooner.

I think Sixtay’s radical views should be accommodated, because they make sense. His comments about psychologically boosting our player’s spirit and morale, are brilliant. We’ve always had the talent, but a psychological approach to end this small club mentality and immature approach to handling pressure needs to be rooted out, once and for all. Looking back 20.3 years from now, we’d know that we started winning when we thought of ourselves as Giants on the pitch, and nothing less.

191. Alex, Cb, and others,

Come on guys, give Sixtay a break. How many times are you going to drive out people with differing opinion from this site? I can’t even keep count anymore. Nymarcus, J*nJ*n, Gazzap, Howard, half of AIC, and the recently departed Lagooner.

192. Thats it Im afraid, we lost the game yesterday, so we have no chance of winning the league now. No way can we catch the pace setters who will obviously win every single game they play as they have rich sugar daddies.

193. As a first step, I don’t know if you guys notice, but Song plays with his head down. As if to suggest he’s not proud of who he is or who he is playing for. Tell that lad to buck up, and play with his head higher up. Eye to eye with the opponents. No Arsenal player should let his head drop, during a game.

194. Spike

The pacesetters are Chelsea the only top 4 team who have actually strengthened over the summer.
We wont catch them unless we buy or is Wenger just going after 4th place and banking the money fo rour scrooge board

195. I think he is using the cash from Moneybags City as a bed to sleep on, actually.

He literally sleeps on a bed made up of £50 notes.

196. Should I dare say that, maybe we ought to buy back Adebayor from City?

He could lead the line better than anyone we have. And with 40M, we can buy him for 35M, and increase his wages, as well. He’s been scoring freely at City. Just imagine what he could do if he would be playing for us, and we’d be creating many chances for him.

197. Ateeb,

Good suggestion about Song. Thanks for giving us a heads up.

198. Chamakh – all i learned was that he’s really called Shamakh.. and that French people are also obese, erm, portly.

199. @Ateeb –
You’re quite right about Sixtay. Be good if he posted a few more times during the day though…lazy!

200. Your right Ateeb,

And I never really noticed with Song. Now I’m getting excited as he’s already playing so well, even with the self-doubt. Guess Arsene was right all those years ago when he signed him, he DOES have potential. Can wait to see him gain more confidence. He’d be a legend!

Thanks Ateeb!

201. anyone’s interested to see McGeady’s dive? here you are

http://i32.tinypic.com/2njlirr.gif

I heard McGeady wants to appeal and the SFA will look at it. Now let’s see how the SFA will deal with cheats….

202. Ateeb,
We didn’t force lagooner out. He’s just been arrested for kidnapping a girl and keeping her locked in his shed for 18 years.

203. clichy_double_deuce

ateeb, you’re joking about the ‘bring back ade’ thing right? right??

plus, i have no problem keeping this forum negativity free. the lads need our unmitigated support, and they will get it here. any “shortcomings” (real or perceived) should be sorted out by the gaffer, not by the likes of us. my advice to you: sit back and enjoy the ride. this will be one helluva season.

204. Thanks for the link, notlager. I think you misinterpreted Gay Gordon Smith’s remarks there though.. He said ‘McGeady is appealing….

205. clichy_double_deuce

lol @ PB

p.s: the julius caesar remark was great. refreshing my roman history online as we speak

206. Polizi;

Haha! Well, it is kinda strange how he ai9nt been on since that happened!

207. clichy_double_deuce – never take Ateeb or Muppet seriously and you’ll get along fine. Good point in your post @ 10.05 pm that the armchair managers would do well to remember. It’s Arsene’s job to sort out any team issues, our job is to keep supporting the team no matter what and stop giving comfort to the enemy.

208. Clichy and passenal…you just lost your license to criticize arsene when the going gets rough! Keep telling urselves that arsene can’t do a better job. Even without knowlege of anyone in this blog on a personal level, myopia seems to be getting the best of you.

I want arsenal to succeed, so I do what I can, and leave the rest to fate. I’ve decided to leave as little to fate as possible

209. It’s my blogging style that is at fault here, surely.

ANYBODY NOTICE HOW I USE CAPS FROM TIME TO TIME

And lot’s of exclaimation marks !!!!!!!!

Even with no knowledge of blogging I seem to come on here and make a point !!!!!!!

BUT NOOOOOOOOBODY ACKNOWLEDGES IT

WHY ???????????

COS my blogging style is ok.

HA !! HA !! Have you even read my posts….

Did you notice them ?

Who is to say that somebody didn’t notice them ?

Confused ? You will be

210. Yay muppet! yeah we notice the need from time to time. And we address it accordingly. You’d probably get more hits if you mad more sense instead of obsessively taking a constant piss. you need to take urself more seriously man.

211. One undeserved loss and the Spud-gunners & terminal moaners come out of the woodwork. Fuck off spud-gunners and serial moaners.

212. If I “mad” more sense than you Sixtay, I would be locked up. Good night.

213. OG,

What was your assessment of the game yesterday. Are you less optimistic as a result ?

214. Well, if you ask me, which literally you didnt, I would suggest that we have blown our chances of winning the title this season, in a nutshell.

215. Spike… stop takin the piss man and take urself seriously… if you did that you would have more people take notice….!!!!!!

216. Muppet,

Absolutely not less optimistic. Wenger’s handling of the post-match has been fantastic.

We looked better than them all round.

217. Muppet I apologize, but your insatiable need to have a laugh make me think you NEED a laugh. Personal issues?

218. Well, I dunno about Muppet, but me and my heart, we got issues…

219. Muppet;

You really need to quench that insatiable desire for a laugh sunshine.

This blog is no place for levity.

220. Goodnight Ole,

Have to agree with you. I do think he handled the post match, and indeed the public humiliation very well with an element of reserved defiance.

But you know that I didn’t think we handled the Eduardo incident very well – and I believe we paid for it with both barrels yesterday.

Maybe I read too much into your comments on the Eduardo thing – but the feeling I had was that you knew we were threading thin ice and there could be repercussions over the diving allegations. In this context – were you really so surprised when Dean decided it was pay back time?

221. What are you suggesting Joe? That a referee decided he would take revenge on us for Eduardo’s simulation?

I just think Dean has taken up Mike Riley’s mantle as the biggest United loving United lovin ref.

222. Levity ? who said anything about smack ?

223. Just thought the united lovin point needed emphasising, obviously!

224. I’ve no doubt Spike that we suffered because of it.

When it comes to retribution – the establishment will always find its own way.

225. but the way we played, we should have been up by 2 goals by the time that decision was made. Our faults our squarely our, we gave riley the opportunity to do a number on us. end of

226. Wow! Even though he has retired that united loving ref Riley had a hand in our injustices at OT then?

227. international break.I hate it. Today Adebayor was tripped by a portsmouth player and The pompey fans started chanting “Same old Arsenal cheating” then he went up and scored and that shut them up. Eduardo will get a lot of stick from a section of England fans and I would absolutely “luv it” a la Keegan, if he scores against England.

228. The booing of Eduardo by the united fans, shows how brain dead and media led a lot of people are. Sad, but predictable.

229. Spike- Dailymail Pro Arsenal? that was weird but well written I think some of the hatters are humain after all. tAfter all the media frenzy about everything to do with Arsenal and going to ‘Old Traffordish as Wenger calls it and put on a wonderful display of pure football I think that maybe soften their heart a bit. The fact is we’ve been targeted from all fronts for everything even kicking a lifeless plastic bottle

230. Spike – thanks for Daily Mail article… more than surprising! However i then linked to Graham Poll ; was about to enjoy a nice bout of mild insomnia, but that useless fuck has written the most abhorrent, tasteless shite … Dean and Riley are lightweights compared to that excuse of a man.
If anyone else reads his shit..beware of frothing at the mouth.
Up the ARSE!

231. i want the press to hate us because we are winning not have a big love in when we lose. The daily Mail can kiss my arse.
Arsenal are better when everyone is against us

232. I’m looking for a pro united review of the match. That should highlight what we did wrong. It’s plain to see what we did right. But the fact that we lost means we probably did something wrong!

233. just read this and thought you’d love it

Comment from Nhan Le
—————————

We were unlucky for not getting at least a point out of this game. But this is no reason to be whinging. We got lucky in pretty much all previous games of the season. Besides, this game gave us much to enjoy and I’m thankful for the performance and the spirit that our team turned in.

But for the own goal, Diaby had one of the best games he has played in an Arsenal shirt (strangely enough, the same can be said about Djourou in the Chelsea game last year). With one more inch of precision, he could have made up for the blunder with a stunning dribble through 3 defenders to an open goal before shooting it wide. Diaby and Song were the rock at the bottom of midfield for Arsenal, pressing opponent’s midfield back to the halfway line and isolating Rooney.

RvP didn’t score a thundering goal as did Arshavin but was a constant threat up front, pulling at least 2 defenders to him every time and managed to release the ball just in time for our wingers to cross in. He didn’t waste anything presented to him the whole game – that Foster save was completely out of this world.

Arshavin was involved in about 3 meaningful attacking occasion the whole game, two of which created opening chances. No more praises necessary.

Vermaelen-Song-Gallas were absolutely the rock. Denilson deputized ably for Cesc’s role. I didn’t know what to ask more from them.

On diving. I’m eating my words on Eboue. The problem with him is not being a diver, but a bad diver. Both Eboue and Rooney were expecting contact when they fell – there’s no difference in the morality and technicality of their acts. But the difference in results – the latter got the contact and the former didn’t – made him a fool and was detrimental to our team, not least in the media debate.

This “diving” thing is nothing more than a moral masturbation of the British media. It will go on and on until the British public realize that there is no moral merit in the issue. Until then, be a good at it before you dive.

234. Sixtay – You sound like a young management consultant who interviews his client in order to tell them what’s wrong with them – like borrowing my watch to tell me the time. Do you think Wenger reads reviews in order to prepare the team for the challenges of this season? He knows. Whereas you’re researching pro Man United reviews in order to attempt to learn the same. Your approach is laughable.

235. funny.. there is no mention of the possibility of rooney diving by any of the media at all despite replays and pictures that seem to support the case.

hmmm… why am i not surprised?

236. clichy_double_deuce

@passenal, noted.

@sixtay, you’re missing the point. i don’t WANT a license to criticise the boss. i’m quite happy with his decision-making.

@luke, i concur.

any word on arshavin’s injury?

237. clichy_double_deuce

@kezza

quit trolling you pathetic little spud.

238. @ Luke:
Laughable but is it efficient. I don’t have a team of scouts to gather information from. What I have, I choose to use. When live hand you apples, make apple juice I say. I’m not here for self glorification. I’m not here to display ability. That’s why I give opportunity to everyone to reach conclusions on their own.

And about your comparison “like borrowing my watch to tell me the time. ” I’ll like to think I’m borrowing the watches of EVERYONE’s watch to gain a more accurate understanding of the time. It’s not about proving myself to any one person. It’s about ARSENAL!!! Let’s help each other, insted of trying to gain one over each other. TROLLS though can suck eggs for all I care

239. - When life I mean

- I’ll like to think I’m borrowing the watches of EVERYONE

didn’t proof read…damn

240. Perspective people perspective.

A match ago we were the best team on earth. A match later we are the worst. Perspective.

All we need is a litlle calmness, not to get edgy when we are leading 1 – 0 at Manchester. If we are feeling bad, think how much Almunia and Diaby must be filling.

Diaby is not my flavor player, but if that boy could get his head out of his ass, you have a world player of the year there!

did anyone see how he split then man defense with some quick feet? if only his head was not in his ass, that was a goal just there!

Perspective, confidence. Victory through harmony.

241. Sixtay – In recognition of your indomitable spirit, I shall refrain from throwing any more stones. Cheers.

242. yay luke

now moving on. Man City!

243. Don’t applaud daily mail so much… Read this from a fool who has his head in his ass

Overall, Dean was asked a lot of questions throughout the 90 minutes and, on the whole, came up with the right answers.

A game with nine cautions which is still enormously enjoyable usually means the referee has done well.

The highlight of Dean’s adjudications was the excellent detection of Emmanuel Eboue’s dive, which correctly meant a yellow card for the Arsenal man. Had the referee been duped, as a number of commentators were initially, the ‘tackler’ Patrice Evra could well have had a second caution.

A similar scenario followed the Darren Fletcher foul on Andrey Arshavin in the 39th minute – the irrelevant and inaccurate comment of ‘He got the ball’ was the commentators’ opinion from their first viewing.

Dean, who, of course, only gets one look, had doubts and so allowed play to continue. Of course, all of us now know a penalty should have been awarded but I felt Dean earned the slice of luck which meant that the unfortunate Arshavin scored soon after.

In the 59th minute Dean had no doubts over the penalty for Manchester United when Manuel Almunia made a poor decision to throw himself at Wayne Rooney.

Close examination of the video actually shows Rooney went to ground before any contact but a penalty was the correct decision.

244. clichy_double_deuce

i’m getting sick of graham poll’s shite mongering

245. What’s their story?

246. @ arsenalkabisa: He’s no fool. He just chooses to focus on one side of the story.

Eboue DID dive. We shouldn’t ignore that.

9 time out of 10, the Rooner pen would’ve been givien. Imagine that happened with RVP at the other end. Would you say he dived? Most of the faults hang on the shoulders of almunia for not staying on his line, even when rooney was going nowhere.

And give the man some credit.
“Close examination of the video actually shows Rooney went to ground before any contact but a penalty was the correct decision.”

“Dean earned the slice of luck which meant that the unfortunate Arshavin scored soon after.”

He does admit that.

247. http://rapidshare.com/files/270569767/Man_City_v_Wolves.avi

opportunity to be an armchair scout. It’s spot the weaknesses time.

248. Such articles make me puke.

“Alan Hansen: Arsenal need someone like Darren Fletcher in their team

Darren Fletcher is the unsung hero of Manchester United. You can talk about the quality of Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes and Cristiano Ronaldo, but Fletcher has regularly played an important role in the engine of the team.”

249. “Close examination of the video actually shows Rooney went to ground before any contact but a penalty was the correct decision.”

That’s the most stupid comment ever, how is it a correct decision if the player went down before any contact?

250. Rotten luck wasn’t it, really. At one end a penalty denied, a free kick off the post, a sure goal but for the foot of the keeper, an off-side goal; at the other 2 bad but also highly unusual mistakes.

In the middle Arsenal getting kicked everywhere, but picking up more yellow cards.

There is every reason to believe that had the Arshavin penalty been given, Arsenal would have gone on to dominate and win easily. As it was we saw this team is close to the giants they will become, outplaying throughout and in every position their more accomplished hosts, Diaby was a constant menace to ManU and but for the own goal, had a huge game; Denilson and Song imposed control throughout; RvP was majestic.

Arsenal were not as calm as they should have been throughout, but everone saw it, they are now better than ManU in every department, and this despite (as usual) missing some players.

251. @Gunner4ever: would you award a penalty if it was RVP instead?

252. You miss the point sixtay…the comment is stupid, if the video shows he went down first, why would it be still the right decision to award the penalty?

You can argue the ref didn’t see he went to the ground before being touched, therefore he gave the penalty.

It has nothing to do with Van Persie but since you mentioned Arsenal players…Arshavin was bulldozed in the box and video evidence shows a clear penalty was not given…does that make it still the right decision?

253. I’ve avoided all contact since Saturday evening but am very impressed by the responses here (the cazza’s of this world not withstanding!!).

We fought well and live to fight another day. Luck cannot run in one direction eternally!

Well done the gunners and well done you gooners

254. I feel pity for Manchester.

They are thumping their chest so much, and yet they are on a bubble that wont survive the next two months.

Fair play to Ferguson though. Sell a player for 80 Million buy the whole referees association for 2Million. Perfect return on investment. Why buy a player when you can buy a game?

Wenger are you listening? Buy the games not the players.

255. @Chazza

you want attention?

Please come play with my kids

256. Arsenalkabisa

That invitation to Chazza sounds ominous!

257. Or to put matters simply, who’s shoes would you rather be in today – ManU scrapped a lucky home win on the back of an untidy unconvincing game – or Arsenal a dominant display away from home early in the season and its players superior in every position. The thing is ManU really worked very hard to disrupt the Arsenal passing game, usual tactics, and it didn’t work at all. That’s all.

258. Just saw Arsene’s post match press conference. Just fantastic. He handled all issues with grace, intelligence and honesty.

Suddenly, things don’t look so bad. cazza/James, you’re insecurities and pre-pubescent outbursts do you or whatever team you support no discernable favours. If it makes you happy…:~)

259. As usual – credit where due – Giggs had a good game against Arsenal, and that pass that led to the penalty – wow, that pass was a bit of magic.

Otherwise, basics, it took a diaby own goal at one end and lucky post, feet, referee bias and split second off side for ManU to get any result.

Sure, Fergie is a worried man.

260. And Wenger is smiling. They know.

261. @Luke

is Chazza a pedophile?

262. @ZimPaul

I think red nose is scared shitless.

Diaby if not for the own Goal had a superb game. He should have buried his effort though and silenced everyone. Diaby will be a world Player of the year in Three years max.

263. Ak

To clarify, I meant “ominous” for Chazza, not for your kids.

I read a dark threat to this invitation…

“you want attention?

Please come play with my kids”

264. Alan Hansen is a complete idiot. That article someone posted above outlines it. Good luck defending that one Poliziano.

265. Eduardo was completely setup by the English media for the game against Croatia. The vilifiaction he received from the Mancs on Saturday was just a practice session. His reception at Wembley will be murderous. I can see him scoring a hat-trick…I hope so anyway.

…..Arsenal……

266. I can see him scoring a hat-trick…I hope so anyway.

Amen.

267. Is Pz a fan of Hansen?

It doesn’t seem very likely.

268. With all the fuss about the ref.Its overshadowed another woeful performance by Almunia.Arsene go and buy Robert Green before the window closes

269. Oh yes, the season is long and the opening salvos have been fired. Arsenal and Chelsea are clear trend-setters, the difference being that chelsea has nothing new to offer. Bring IT ON.

270. C-Bob,

To be fair he never said he was. But I think Hansen is a complete idiot, and Pz doesn’t. I’m holding this article as evidence as good as any I’ve seen of Hansen’s idiocy.

271. Well, I’m surprised by that Ole.

Hansen is a complete idiot and Pz absolutely isn’t.
