It Rhymes: Red & White Talk…And A Bit Of Transfer Gossip

Awwww, come on, you know the word which was missing. Red and White has launched its own PR offensive with Farhad Moshiri interviewed by the BBC offering their own version of the current state of play at the club. Mindful that the manager still has the support of all but 0.001% of supporters, Moshiri chose to divert attention to the Board and their rejection of Red and White’s Rights Issue.

There were several curiousities that emerged from the interview, not least of which is that Red & White are refusing to put their information into the public domain. The Lazard Brothers Report is based purely on the published financial statements of the club and at best, that information is six months old. Therefore, most of their conclusions are either out of date or based on estimates. That is not to say some of their thoughts might well be true but until R&W put the whole of their plans for the Rights Issue open to scrutiny, they will never be able to win the minds of supporters on this matter.

Despite his resignation from the Board of R&W, Dein appears still be heavily involved. That deduction came from Moshiri’s comments that the relationship between Dein and Wenger has never been replaced. That is according to Moshiri. No evidence exists to suggest that Wenger and Gazidis are heading towards that level of friendship. Likewise, no evidence exists to suggest that their is anything other than personal respect on either part. Any antagnosim is being hidden from public view, if it exists.

It is apparent that Moshiri is particularly clueless:

Based on our analysis any money is very limited and possibly spent already and I don’t think there are any spare funds with the exception of Adebayor’s proceeds

Even by my dodgy grasp of mathematics, that means that there are about £20-25m of spare funds. Since wild, sweeping statements are the order of the day, I would suggest that R&W would not make that money available in its entirity to Wenger since one aspect of their investment is abundantly clear. If they take the club over, money will be diverted into dividend payments, a matter on which Usmanov already made his views known before being put in his place by the current board.

The lack of knowledge displayed with regard to the first team squad was baffling if R&W are truly intent on taking over the club. Moshiri or one of his minions has obviously been reading blog comment sections and taking the extreme views as some sort of vindication of their intentions towards Arsenal. Particularly baffling was the notion that Arsenal will suffer greatly when Kolo Toure goes to the ACN next winter. It must have escaped their notice that there are six centre backs at the club.

The sale of Adebayor unsurprisingly brought more ill-informed comment. R&W clearly believe that Eduardo, Bendtner, van Persie and Vela are not up to scratch. It may well be that Wenger brings another striker in but more than anything else, R&W were clearly starting to stoke the fires of malcontent. Should the start to the season be less than spectacular, it will be little surprise to find another exacting analysis provided by R&W, stating that since Dein left, no success has arrived, erasing Wenger’s contribution entirely.

Having failed through normal channels to secure support for their strategy, R&W are now clearly attempting to portray themselves as the voice of supporters, the assumption being on their part that fans are too shallow to see through such pitiful posturing.

Elsewhere, the usual suspects are emerging for the first train into Euston. Lee Catermole is probably the first to arrive since it will be quicker for him to journey down from Wigan. Hot on his heels on the Heathrow Express is Klaas Jan Huntelaar, whose wages demands have seen Peter Crouch  usurp him as ‘Appy ‘Arry’s top transfer target.

Kolo Toure has apparently agreed personal terms as part of Manchester City’s triple transfer swoop which is rapidly disintegrating since John Terry has refused to countenance earning huge wages. Apparently Toure popped out to a local Wiener Schnitzel parlour for talks with City when Arsene turned his back. It seems many moons ago that clubs agreed a fee before contacting the player directly.

’til Tomorrow.

  1. morning all

  2. As I said , I think it was yesterday, or maybe the day before, Aw is doing the board no favours with his transfer policy. Many fans would consider selling Ade to Man City an unwise move, and if the fuds are re-invested those incapable of reading the and understanding the financial report will believe that hacks when they say we have to sell. I’ve heard one saying that Wenger has said last year we have to sell 1 player a year to survive!

Now of course, the best way for AW to support the boars is by bringing success, but I believe fans would be more tolerant of a failure to win a trophy again if the manager was at least seen to using all the resources available to him.

  3. meant “funds not re-invested!”

  4. Looks like we will be signing a striker, having just seen arsenal.com.

There would be no reason to publish Robin van Persie’s article otherwise.

    Good news :)

  5. Anyone see RVP comments on Arsenal.com?

Paving the way for Klaas? Very unlike the official site. Mind games! Love it.

  6. You been lying in wait Duke?

Thing is Yogi, I think a largish percentage of the fans “are too shallow to see through such pitiful posturing.”

As you say, if R&W get their encouragement from blogs, then they will try and close the circle, with posters getting their encouragemnt from them. Why not?

As has been said before, there is rarely a shortage of knobs.

  7. td,

    Quite.

    Good news indeed

  8. I think a largish percentage of the fans “are too shallow to see through such pitiful posturing.”
    ———————

    I don’t think so.

Only if you’re thinking a large percentage of fans who take the time to post their views online, then probably.

However I’m willing to bet that there is an even larger majority who a perfectly fine with the decisions of the board and Mr.Wenger, but don’t think their energy is put to good use by arguing with anonymous people online.

You know the old proverb— empty barrels make the most noise.

  9. Hey “even larger majority” doesn’t make sense, “larger percentage”.

  10. FUCK OFF USMANOV!!!

  11. I agree with Ole Gunner.

  12. @ California Gooner

    (regarding your comment yesterday)

David Dein has been replaced. We have a new CEO called Ivan Gazidis. He has been in place since January and has already overseen contract extensions for a number of players including RVP most recently. So far, IG has not put a foot wrong IMO, so I’d be interested to know in what way you feel he has failed to reach DD’s standards as a negotiator or in any other way.

    @ YW
One of the most nauseating parts of that interview is the way Moshiri uses “we”. Huh? Since when are you a gooner, matey?

And I’d say there is evidence that IG and AW have a warm mutual respect – the smoothness of the transfer dealings and the glowing endorsements of each other which are published from time to time. (Just recently, Arsene commented on the positiive difference that IG is making.)

  13. sorry
    - transfer dealings
    + contract extensions

  14. If we sold Toure I’d worry however….I don’t think we’re skint but I’d struggle to understand why else we’d sell him.

  15. This didn’t go through, will try again.

    - transfer dealings
    + contract negotiations

  16. As far as “stoking the fires of malcontent” goes…

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astroturfing

*cough* Le Grove, Arsenal Action *cough*

  17. I heard an insider of Fulham saying they are lining up Hangerlands successor?

Could it be Toure off and Hangerland to come in?

That would be good although I would be very sorry to see Kolo leave, love that guy!

  18. That Usmanov has his henchman commenting on a transfer does not give me confidence that if he took over he would be happy to let the boss take care of the team while he collected the money- looks to me like he’d be meddlesome and it wouldn’t be long before we had our own Shevchenko.

  19. One other question- if Arsenal has no money and no hope of success, why is Usmanov trying so hard to get his grubby hands on it? As the article says, he’s playing the ‘everyman’ card to readers of blogs and his media organ of choice, the Sun.

  20. So how do you eradicate astroturf? *cough* Le Grove, Arsenal Action *cough*
If you have to, real grassroots can be treated, dug-up, suffocated/covered in old carpet until the roots die. But astroturf? I guess you just burn it, and wear a mask to avoid inhaling the noxious fumes.
Thanks for the Denilson ATVO link earlier One OF Us.

  21. Arshavin is so media-savvy. His comments are usually intelligent, confident, deflect pressure, don’t disrespect others, all the right things

  22. I’m kind of hoping that this is the last summer that we have to endure this sort of sh!t. I believe that the biggest reason for the kind of support that R&W has in the fan base is because of the lack of trophies in the past couple of years.

When we win the league this year (and I’m retaining high hopes for the champs league as well) R&W will quickly find that the possible angles to manipulate the “shallow” sections of the fan base have been cut off.

The flip side of this is that I was really hoping that most of these plastic, good for nothing, “Ive paid for a season ticket so I can boo our players” whinging, pessimistic whinny little doomer b@astards would f*ck off and support citeh so that we’d be rid of them once and for all. Sort of like a medieval blood-letting.

Instead we’re going to win the league and end up appeasing their spoilt, childish little whims. Afterwards they’ll just crawl back into the wood work waiting for the next time that we’re in a slight dip, so that they can get back to their filthy little ways. It’s one of those catch 22 moments.

  23. OneOfUs,

Interesting post. And you are absolutely right. There is one reason why Le Grove exist, only one reason, and that is money. They deny it of course, but that is their only motivation.

Create a community of disaffected bloggers. The majority of whom are schoolchildren or sixth formers, then start to sell products or advertise.

  24. drew10, why would replacing Toure with Hangerland be good?

  25. Muppet, you make them sound like child abusers

  26. Mingus, what I mean is as a replacement he is a good player.

I wasn’t suggesting we should replace him just if he goes Hangerland has proved himself a good defender and he is good in the air!

  27. Surely Toure wont be sold, theres no way Wenger would want that

  28. The power of the enticement “We will double your weekly wage” is starting to have its inevitable effect.

  29. drew10. Oh I see.
    Arsenal Arsenal Arsenal!
    Arsenal Arsenal Arsen – al!
    Arsenal Arsenal Arsenal?
    Arsen- al
    Arsen -al!!!

  30. Agree with Drew – Hangerland would be a great addition to the club.

  31. Oh shut up James, Le Grove is a petty whinefest, occupied by kids, who have nothing better to do than to sit and moan all day long. The same banal comments get bandied around every day, the team selected by youtube, and the mighty Geoff and Pedro frantic behind the scenes, moderating any positive Arsenal opinion, binning anybody who actually supports the club, because it doesn’t fit the tone of the blog.

The site’s strapline ‘A blog where you can have an opinion, not get one’ is patently ludicrous. Geoff and Pedro don’t allow any discussion of their opinion. Once people start questioning their very questionable views, they claim that people are arguing and evict them from the site. If you question your fellow blogger on that site, that’s ok if it’s anti-Arsenal, but… oh no.. if you are sticking up for the club or the players, you get evicted as you musn’t abuse your fellow blogger. What a load of crap.

They then try to create the impression that theirs is the majority view. Excuse me why I split my sides laughing. Your views are not challenged on there Jimbo because they don’t allow it. On here, it’s a different story.. and you are actually allowed to blog.

  32. London,

Kolo is under contract. 2 yrs left as Wenger said. We don’t have to sell. If Kolo wants to leave, make him hand in a transfer request, and then reject it.

  33. Drew? Is that you?

I wonder what the reaction would be to Kolo returning to the Emirates should he move to City be like. Ade is gonna get the most amount of crap, but I’m hoping that Kolo will get some respect

  34. As a club it would be great to see 3 players come in before the start of the season.

    Hangerland
    Huntelaar
    Catermole

whether we will see any of them is another matter.

  35. Schoochies It is indeed me!! I think Kolo would get the welcome a true servant of the club deserves.

If we sold him for £15mil with only 1 year left on his contract it may be good business but a sad day and that would mean Cesc would be the longest serving player at the club!!

    How mad is that?

  36. As a club it would be great to see 3 players come in before the start of the season.

    Baresi
    Marco Van Basten
    Scottie Pippen

whether we will see any of them is another matter.

  37. Kolo is not going to eastlands. Give the man some respect right here, right now. Not in some fanciful fiction whereby he returns to the Emirates in the light blue of City. It’s not going to happen.

  38. As a club! I love it!

  39. The Doomer's Family

    My 3 players would be:

    Pirlo to cover for Cesc.
    Essien to cover for Denilson.
Pato as a 5th choice striker.

Beats your Hangerland, Huntelaar and Catermole. I can play this game better.

  40. I’d also be pleased with those three (Drew’s 3, not Ole’s 3- everyone knows that Scottie Pippen wasn’t any good with the overhead kick haha). If Kolo wants to go (and by all the rumours it seems he may) then let him, sell eboue to Fiorentina and bring in Hangerland, Huntelaar. Not too sure about Cattermole, but really wouldn’t know who to get as DM

  41. ARSENAL BOARD SHOULD CONSIDER RIGHTS ISSUE
Kroenke and Fiszman are killing the club. These two guys are only interested in making money but not helping the club. Where is AST? Have they been bought by Kroenke and Fiszman? Wenger is a great coach but being frustrated by Kroenke and Fiszman. It is only the current board members (Kroenke and Fiszman) that have become big stumbling block towards the progress of the club. For heaven shake, why did they refuse the proposal of Usmanov to reduce the current choking debt? This board needs to rethink again and come up with a viable means of reducing this choking debt!!! Why in this modern world do you reject such offers with even a rider of underwriting the issues is not fully taken. I would like all sensible Arsenal fans globally to look at the scenario below:
Suppose the new rights of 500 million rights are issued at an issue price of 20 pounds!!! What will be the results of the issue?
Utilization of Funds Raised from Rights Issue Pounds (Mns)
    New Funds 10,000
    Less Emirate Stadium Loan 450
    Less Apartment developments 200
    Net Balance 350 mn

The club will raise a total of 10 billion pounds or 10,000 million pounds. This will definitely be raised due to underwriting of the entire rights issue. How will this amount be utilized?

Arsene will enjoy pounds 350 million in developing the club further with 50 million pounds can be used to buy new players, 100 million pounds can be used for youth and academy development that will continue to develop young talented players, 50 million pounds can be used for building the club global brand name and developing global merchandise network outlets that will continue to bring new funds through sales of arsenal merchandise in the global market.
In the net analysis, the club will still have pounds 150 for any other use with a clean book without debts at all.
Please the board members look at this and come forward with a working formula that will ensure that no single shareholder should own more than 30%. The shares can be sold to all Arsenal fans in the whole world to only Arsenal fans.
I appeal once again to the board to relook at the proposal.

  42. In that case

    Pele to play anywhere
    Marradona to play up front
Liam Brady to resign in midfield

    That’s even better than yours.

  43. Muppet,

Thats probably true but I’ve never been on that blog so I wouldn’t know, I cant imagine someone setting up a blog just to bad mouth a team they dont even support though, bit wierd.

Also, if it was up to alot of the regulars on here, people would get banned for expressing there views because it doesn’t agree with theirs. Its only cos Yogi is fair that it doesn’t happen.

    Drew10,

Hangerlaand would be a great signing no doubt about it

  44. Jak – there are clubs like that all ready. Go support one of them, we’ve got one properly run.

  45. Jakisumo?? Eh who let that guy in?

10 Billion Pounds? For that money we could buy Adebayor and pay him for about 3 months!

  46. HQ,

Operation Jelly Bean proceeding as planned. New intelligence gathered regarding triple agent James aka Jimbo. Possible ACLF mole, repeat, possible ACLF mole. Over.

Johnny Boy and Bunny inflitrating eastern block blogs as planned. Need more tradecraft information on holes in finance. Need comments from R&W holdings to add to weaponry.

Cattermole and Hangerland good decoys. Need more decoys for up front proposition.

    Over and Out.

  47. Jakisumo – get a grip.

  48. The Doomer's Family

    Hahaha.

How did you manage to come online, Jakisumo? With that brain, I doubt you’d have even a penny in your pocket. I think the rightful owner of the P.C that you’re using, might be returning soon, so you better get out, before they hand you over to the cops.

  49. ole. we have

    Magic Johnson

    Joe Jackson

    Joey Barton

    joining us

  50. Muppet I’ve just got why you’re called muppet

  51. Well, it depends what you call a largish percentage, Wb. 10% is substantial. 20% very substantial indeed.
Enough to cause a great deal of trouble.

There are plenty of idiots like Jakisumo about who will swallow anything they are fed. How many people read the Sun and Mirror? Let’s not even mention the Mail, Express and Telegraph.

  52. As a club it would be great to see 3 players come in before the start of the season.

Would never happen. Wenger believes that you cant buy more than three in one season, as it distabilizes the club.

    But my three would be

    Zidane – To cover Cesc
Garrincha – Wizard on Both wings, master of the dribble
    Socrates

  53. jakisumo you are needed by alistair darling

    are you related to Borat?

  54. Jakisumo,

10,000 million pounds wouldn’t cover the wages for Huntelaar… what planet are you on ?

  55. But seriously, if the extent of your fantasies are

    Hangerland
    Huntelaar
    Catermole

Then something is seriously wrong. If you’ll fantasise, better a Beyonce than your local supermarket tart.

  56. Jimbo,

And why is that James ?

  57. WOW Muppet dont you know

we could get Ronaldo for one million a week

  58. Muppet, cos you’re a muppet, Muppet

  59. Apparantly Viera’s kids think its for the best to put him in spurs. Apparantly he doesnt want to go and says he can cope where he is but the kids are adamant that in his condition it would be better for him to be put in spurs.

  60. James,

Better than being a dumbo, Jimbo.

  61. I wouldn’t begrudge Kolo a double your wages bow out with City. He’d probably get more games there.

Plus, he said on ATVO when asked ‘What would you do if you were invisible?’, ‘I think I’d rob a bank and give all the money to poor people’. Legend. He’s like robin hood but much cooler and braver. If anyone would use the sky blue oil money thoughtfully and to do good, it’s king kolo.

I’d obviously prefer him to stay; he contributes as a talisman, a model professional for the kids to look up to, a great asset squad wise and I’d just miss his face basically.

He’d get a hero’s welcome home if he did go though.. No doubt. Everyone loves him, and rightly so.

    1) Limpar
    2) Socrates
    3) Huntelaar (I got all excited about his overhead kicks on youtube, I confess)

  62. If by some miracle we sold Senderos, Toure and Ebuoe. for 35 million and we have 25 from EGO, AW could go out with the help of Giles Grimand go out and cover all our future needs without going crazy

  63. @jakisumo

get off that shit man. it will mess your head.

  64. Yes yes arsenalkabise. Socrates is the bomb.

  65. The Doomer's Family

Drew…I think they’re too old for football now. You need to get the new version of whatever game u’re using.

    Muppet,

No need to worry, about Jimbo with 21 Arses. He’s one of us. Always have been. Remain in deep cover, reinforcments are on the way. Lord Myles, is stalking Eboue and Toure. Will update on that situation soon.

Our project was dealt a blow yesterday, as a former agent claimed to have gotten his hand on some anti-depressants. AIC has gone in hiding, possible switchover to the other side expected. We’re afraid this activity might have spread within our ranks. Keep your eyes open, and look out for doomer’s behaving differently. Symptoms include, showing optimism with the present squad. ONLY asking for 1 more addition to the squad. Changing their views over last season, and taking stupid things like injuries into account. Not claiming to kill or commit suicide, if we’re to end up trophyless next season. And worst of all, showing trust in Arsene’s transfer policies. Need to identify these doomers, and get them off those pills.

We’re running out of decoys, Cana was a big blow. Look towards players from Madrid. Clearance sale expected.

    Over and Out.

    HQ.

  66. Muppet, theres nothing wrong with being a muppet, Muppet. I love the Muppets

  67. @LimparAssist

We both got Socrates there mate!

  68. doomers family.

you obviously didnt read all yesterdays, prozac, zanax, and valium still by the side of the bed.

  69. Unless footballer names starting with “H” really does it for you.

    Hangenland
    Habib Beye
    Halmosi….

    the “H” dream team.

  70. Jimbo/James,

Understand what you are doing on LG.

You are trolling their site !!

    And they don’t know it.

    LOL…

    Keep up the good work.

  71. Usmanov, like all other ‘investors’, wants to take money OUT of the club long-term. That is his only interest. He is not a ‘sugar-daddy’ trying to play with the pony club or hide cash from the russian government for fear it will reclaim what he stole, he wants dividends. These will of course need to be over and above anything he puts in on balance. It is a shit idea for the club’s future. (£10 billion = retard. Read a paper.)

Cattermole certainly, Hangerland IMO are not good enough for arsenal.

If Toure is seen as 4th choice defender maybe it makes sense to sell, especially in tight times. That is not the same as being skint and having to, but it is prudent. If he wouldnt get a game anyway doesnt matter and what they have isnt better than what we have. I doubt that is the case though and hope he stays, a true legend.

  72. arseneholis,

That last one left me scratching my mug. Let’s take it that Toure is 4th choice which he isn’t. He is 1st choice for the right side of central defence. But if he were, why does that mean he has to be sold? Anyone 4th choice should be sold? Carlos Vela?

  73. Muppet, you are a lengendary muppet, muppet

  74. arseneholis,

100% agree Cattermole isn’t near good enough. Can’t understand people clammering for him. Seems like a nasty little piece of work to me, and he’s smaller than Denilson. Never gonna happen.

  75. Ole – don’t even joke about selling Vela – that guy is going to be huge. 15 years from now the doomers will be harking back to the days Wenger made massive signings of name players like Vela. Trust me.

  76. Malaysiangunner

YW, at your usual best I see.

R and W needs to be gotten rid off. They do nothing but destabilised the Board room and they will have a small section of the fans that are shallow enough to be on their side. This can not be good for the club. We need stability to focus the full energy of the club to win things. We have enough shit from the British press that we do not need more.

After Ade, none of the other players that want to stay should be sold. We need to keep the team together. Now that leaves me to think if KT ever gets sold it will be on his own request. If you push me to a corner between KT and WG , I will pick KT every time. NOthing but pure sentimental reasons. But if KT can not see beyond his problems with WG then what can AW do. But we absolutely need to replace. It will be a long arduos season and we need experience CBs in case WG or Vermalaen gets injured.

Still the squad is in good shape if no ione leaves.

I read that the Money whore wanted to go everywhere else except Manshitty if possible. Well Manshitty deserves what they pay for.

No Fear! We Are The Arsenal!!!

  77. Muppet is a legend here. To class man, top class wit, first class Arsenaler.

  78. We know that Ole – but then we don’t suffer from cognitive deficit disorder like some I could mention.

  79. steww,

Sell Vela? Carlos is a guaranteed world class player in 2 years. Exceptional talent…

Just used to point out that the “we can sell Kolo because he’s 4th choice argument” seemed quite off the mark.

  80. Yo Muppet,

    Sorry, was having lunch.

On one Arsenal site, the author has the time to write 7 posts a week; read and respond to a large portion of comments; create threads; drive discussions etc.

He juggles a career in marketing with moderating a blog that gets 1000+ comments a day. Hmmm.

What if the blog – incidentally, set up exactly when Usmanov rolled into town – is the career, and the “Buy New Players” mantra a brief from the offices of a portly Uzbek?

OK, that’s silly conspiracy stuff, but this isn’t:

PR campaigns on R&W’s level encompass all media, both overtly and covertly, from national press to blogs to twitter.

So it really wouldn’t surprise me if a couple of the more inflammatory Arsenal blogs are linked to Usmanov & co.

  81. Toure has given his best years to the club already. He has lost some of his effectiveness in losing his pace and I for one wouldn’t mind seeing him bleed city for a bit of dosh. I’d prefer him to stay but, he’s not vital anymore.

  82. Vela is going to be world class that lad is a genius!

  83. The Doomer's Family

I’ve been saying the same thing for weeks now!!!!
    It’s Vela’s turn to do a Denilson. Umm…to pull a denilson.

  84. Denilson is crap! He only passes sideways. he has no Brazilian flair. he is easily bullied off the ball

  85. Deep Throat. It would not surprise me either. How else could you explain it?
On another matter; ATVO showing the boys training in Hungary. There is great team spirit. Eboue, Cesc, Nic Bendtner, Gael, Jack etc….. . One particular bit near the end was noticeable how well Cesc and Phillipe were getting on. Arms around each other, having a laugh etc….
I hope it is meaningless but I looked hard and couldn’t see Kolo anywhere in the clip.

  86. arsenalkabisa, :)

  87. Anyone saw Vela yesterday? Came on at half time and had a hand in all 5 of Mexico’s goals.

  88. When we are down to asquad of Cesc, Arshavin, RvP and 20 fifteen year olds, which players will we be saying are no longer crucial?

Selling Ade sent out the wrong messages. If we now sell Toure to city what next? Want an Arsenal player, just let them know they can double their money elsewhere, and if they say to AW that they are a bit upset he will let them leave with his blessing.

Some people are natural victims in life. Arsenal acts as the natural victim of bullies in transfer market.

    It really annoys me!

But it’s AW’s way, so perhaps the price you pay for having him in charge, and there is no way I would like to see him go.

  89. Deep Throat,

You can write even 2 articles a day and still maintain a hectic professional schedule. It depends on the nature of your work.

  90. Having spoken to my psychiatrist it seems I have in fact been burying my true feelings on Kolo under a mound of defensive, protect-my-heart-lest-it-be-broken bullsh*t.

Please don’t take him away from us!

  91. Deep Throat,

    LOL.

btw. All the presidents men is one of my favourite films.

Yes.. wouldn’t surprise me if Jabba had some consipiritors doing his dirty work.

And yes.. how do you manage do juggle a high flying role in the advertising industry whilst chatting to a bunch of school children ?

  92. Vela will be a star this season. Just worried if he has a big enough motor.

  93. Dennilson is too small, he is not a box to box player, he looses the ball in crucial areas, he does not track back.

Sell him and buy an imposing DM who has no skill and cannot read the game. HELL buy a sprinter who will run from box to box. Wenger should go!

  94. Deep throat, Muppet,

When he talks about having a career in marketing. He is essentially refering to marketing L.G to school children. And I don’t think he’s lieng about it.

  95. Kolo is not vital anymore? Who TF then is vital.

Last of the invincibles. Lightning space. Vice-Captain. Winner. Strongest player in the team. The institutional memory of the club. One of our more mature and experienced players.

The next thing I’ll hear is “we lack experience”. We don’t have leaders in the team. We lack players who have won trophies and know what it’s all about.

Look, Kolo is not just any player. He is Arsenal. We’re very much his first club, and he’s never looked anywhere. He grew up at Arsenal, became world class at Arsenal.

Sell him when he’s still got years at the top level? Even if he wants to go, we should lock him in the bathroom till he comes to his senses like Milan did with Gattuso.

  96. Big motors are not so great. They use a lot of fuel, which makes it hard to keep going for a whole match.

  97. Personally I think Toure should cut a deal with Arsene. We know he’s Arsenal through and through. So the deal should be this: you sell me to Manchester City and take the £15 million. They put me on £70,000 a week net of tax, of which I keep £20,000, give £30,000 to charitable foundations and give £20,000 to Arsenal. Sorted.

  98. arsenalkabisa at 2:41 :)

  99. Ole Gunner,

    Yeah.

I’ve just been building up my emotional defences against utter kolo heartbreak since the prospect of him leaving arose in January.

I’ve been trying to reconcile myself with his possible departure with a series of arguments which all amount to denial.

‘Institutional memory of the club’ is spot on. Hopefully AW won’t let him go, on this reason alone.

Like you say, he is Arsenal.

  100. A player with a big motor does not need to play the whole match. He can cause havoc in opposition’s defense in less time. The motor would be vital when the chance comes begging, and the player has to get to the end of it.

  101. OLE – If, i dont think or say that he is, toure is 4th choice then he has clearly gone down in arsene wenger’s estimation. In that event and as he would be unlikely to play many games, 15 million might be too good to turn down in the current climate. That is a hypothetical reasoning for us selling aside form the idea that seems to run counter to any evidence available, that we are skint.

I like toure, i think he should stay and has another 5 good years in him for the club.

However, if we sell there must be a reason and i do not think, form what i have read and financial reports the club puts out, that it is lack of funds, so just an idea.

  102. Me too, Mingus. I admit to looking for Toure in the video and images from training – and awaiting a firm denial on the homepage…

The training slideshows are great. It’s dumb, but I take a lot of heart seeing the players run themselves into the ground and appearing to get on with each other. I heard good things about Bendtner’s rapport with his teammates somwhere.

    Ole,

True, but I commenting and moderating are definitely time-consuming activities.

    Muppet,

See, it’s easy to get carried away with this stuff. Maybe I spent too much time reading Arsenal Action over the weekend. It’s such a quality blog, and I got to thinking that those guys must have had help – there’s way too much insight on there.

YW should take note because the bar has now been raised.

  103. Alternatively Ole, if the paper fiction is anything more than paper fiction and we do sell kolo why do you think that will be?

I dont see it personally, at some stage it makes no sense to strengthen a rival, although that said i dont see them rivaling us. We dont need the money, we just made 25 million and had transfer kitty left anyway, plus we have spent nearly 70 million in the last year, hardly hard up. I also do not think arsene is losing the plot, he rarely sells at the wrong time.

If kolo goes there must be a cause. We can always refuse to sell, even if he wants the wages.

  104. arseneholis,

What does money exist for? To buy player maybe. If you have a Kolo Toure and all you can think of is how much he’s worth then football has lost its soul.

Seriously, it seems cash has taken over the soul of the sport, and players are no longer people, moving, feeling, breathing pillars on which a club is built but instead like impersonal shares, to be traded.

At least Chelski, scum as they are could resist the lure of serious money for a player I personally rate less than Toure.

Suddenly I’m starting to feel very much my age.

  105. one of us – you might be on to something there. Personally, i have never quite understood how there could be so many really bored little twats who would go around trolling. A community of fawning retards led by a pair of obviously shallow, manipulative jerks i can fathom. That these people would spend so much time on other blogs winding people up with their incessant negativity seems too childish, even if they have no jobs to take up time. It all has the same low-grade shit stink as the interview on the bbc – “we dont care about the club, our agenda is all that matters even if it trashes what we claim to love”

  106. Ole – the question was this: if the club decides to sell toure, then why would they do it? Any answers?

  107. There is no denying that Arsene has gained a great reputation of knowing when to sell a player. The trouble with that is double-edged. He has to rely on extreme foolishness on behalf of the buying clubs to pay so much for those players Arsene feels is “past-their-sell-by-date”. Fortunately, there is extreme foolishness about these days!

  108. OOU,

I write 100 comments a day, and articles on things outside football, I might seem like a bum, but I do have many profitable interests outside football.

It depends on your work conditions….your work ethic and your schedule…

  109. Dont forget Toure handed in a transfer request in january.you dont do that if you want to stay. The day Arsene signed TV Toure”s days were numbered

So Ole you think Toure has been world class for the last two seasons? He has lost his pace and that is the major part of his game. When it comes down to pure defending Gallas is the superior defender

  110. So that must be it. The anti-support are being paid by R&W. Like the whores they are. Or not even supporters in the first place. Like M. Palmer.

  111. Clichy – I didn’t say Ade moved for the money. Gael is being disingenious here:

    http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/clichy-i-didn-t-say-ade-moved-for-the-money

If you said anyone who goes to Man City goes for money it applies chiefly to your team mate who left for there last week.

When will players learn to handle the media. Maybe we could have Andrey give a refresher course?

  112. Ole – straight question dude, why no answer?

IF we sell, what do you think the reason will be?

  113. Gooner Ted,

Several times at the end of last season, I still saw Kolo’s lightning pace at play. Even if Gallas is the better defender as you say, it’s no reason to sell Kolo who still has

Puyol never even had the pace-or Terry, and their clubs keep them. He’s more than just Kolo Toure, random player. He’s our Vice-Captain and has long expressed the desire to retire at the club.

  114. If we sell Kolo it will be for two reasons:

    1) Kolo wants to go (whether that be for money/a new challenge/a starting place – matters not and I wouldn’t judge him on his decision)

    2) AW believes it’s the best thing for a) the club and b) the player. A player who is not only a colleague of his but a friend.

For it to be best for the club AW needs full confidence in the other centrehalves. Which in Djourou and TV, is not hard to conjure up.

  115. arseneholis,

If we sold I’d be left scratching my head for days and will most likely lose more hair.

I’d take it as a sign that I have become incapable of understand what the club’s transfer policy and strategy is. I’d imagine there’s some sense to it, a sense that’d be elusive to me.

  116. OneOfUs,

Arsenal Action ? Just had a look. Quality. Do you think one liners are in vogue ? Or do they have an economy with words ?

  117. Jakisumo – How are Kroenke and Fiszman killing the club? You claim that they are getting rich off of the club – How? Arsenal do not pay a dividend, the only way they can make money out of the club is to sell their shares at a price higher than what they bought them at. For this to happen the club has to be succesfull. Usmanov on the other hand has already complained that the club does not pay a dividend. If he had had his way Wenger would currently have less money to spend.

  118. Limpar,

    Great Answer.

  119. Damn you, you’re wrecking my argument, Ole!

Seriously though, I’m not really going to pursue the work load/work ethic thing – like I said earlier, it’s a silly conspiracy theory.

I think the initial point still stands though: that blogging is a channel that would definitely be exploited by R&W. That kind of furtive stuff is definitely par for the course – in my experience at least.

  120. I hope we do not sell Toure. I think that he is an excellent defender, our best by a stretch last season – just watch gallas concede the penalty at villa park with no other attacker within 20 yards of the box to be sure of that.

I hope and still think that this will be paper talk, just as terry proved to be, or countless other stories that make good cheap press with shitty’s money.

I thought that about adebeyor though and was very wrong – not only did he go, but he really showed just what a git he was. When people called him arrogant and lazy i thought it was just bad form, you always back the players up. Now he looks just the whore he is and was, that is the truth, just as much as that you always defend the club’s players.

I think for Toure to be let go there must be a good reason, he is to big a part of the club to let slide away. All i can think is that le boss has seen him declining and fancies the cash knowing that there are 3/4 maybe even 5 CB’s with song he rates as highly. In that case fine, but i hope it aint the case.

  121. One other thing re: the BBC interview and the claim that Dein has never been replaced. Hasn’t Ivan Gazidis just appointed a marketing guy with part of his brief to look at increasing revenue from the Far East, something that we are behind on compared to the other top 4 clubs.

If Dein was so good why do we have to play catch up?

  122. arseneholis,

It’d better be a damn good reason…like he was caught raiding Gunnersaurus’s piggy bank, and sending the pennies to the greedy Uzbek.

  123. I can’t keep up. Can someone in in simple words tell me if Toure is going or not?

  124. Sol, ole…thanks for the spot on comments…and Usmanov is a serpent. As for me…

    Bruce Lee

    St. Slaughter

    Blanka or Dhalsim…either

  125. I hope we get a chance to see Dudu Roro and R-sha link up ..

    Kamaan

  126. I think for Toure to be let go there must be a good reason, he is to big a part of the club to let slide away.
    ————————-

I don’t see the problem in selling Toure, as much as I love the guy, he was quick to hand in a transfer request over a little squabble with Gallas.

If there’s a plan to buy a super, super CB with the £40m to replace Kolo then where’s the problem?

£40m from Toure and Adebayor, 2 players who won’t be going to ACN in that crucial January period.

As long as the money is spent to replace Toure then I’m good.

  127. Ateeb – I was told his real identity is Nick True, he works for an agency called TLC Marketing and I believe they went bust in slightly dubious circumstances last year.

If it is him, I’ve met him once, he struck me as quite effete.

That said, it could just be someone pulling my leg.

  128. wengerball,

Let’s get concrete. Who’s that super, super centre back? Better be one who has a CV like Kolo’s.

Let me ask you; who in this Arsenal team is not for sale?

  129. Ole Gunner – “Let me ask you; who in this Arsenal team is not for sale?”

That would depend on who you are asking.

The press = everyone – didn’t you know we need the money.

The fans = depends what fans you ask.

The fact is the only people who know are Wenger and the board. We’ve always had speculation about players leaving. Viera was leaving for years before he actually did.

  130. Make that 2 questions: What should inform the sale of Arsenal players?

  131. Silver Gunner

Ole Gunner @2.49 – totally agree with you.

  132. Big Al,
However ridiculous we might seem when blogging, I think it’s fair to say that we are all very important people in the real world.

  133. Silver Gunner

Keep hold of toure get rid of silvestre he is poo and past his sell buy date so may be difficult to shift, as much as like swiss phil i think his time in an arsenal shirt are over, if we sell toure I wont be happy for gods sake he still has 2 years to run on his contract and they are offering a paultry 14m no way we would accept that offer, and if god forbid we do then there is undeniably something wrong at the club..

  134. Before anyone has a nervous breakdown regarding incoming transfer’s please remember that we are not even halfway through the transfer window.

  135. Note the use of the word “If”.

In as much as we consider Toure to be “Mr Arsenal” his haste to hand in that transfer request left me questioning his loyalty.

Unfortunately I have no idea who that “super, super” CB is, I’m just saying that “if” there’s some sort of plan to buy that kind of player then £15m is more than fair value for Toure. The FA Cup

Although considering the buyer and the amount they were willing to spend on “Mr Chelsea”, then I’d have to add at least another £10m for “Mr Arsenal”.

  136. Ole,

I’d say Kolo’s own development with us is an argument against having to buy anyone with a big CV. He was quality from the off.

The replacements if needed are already with us. TV and Djourou.

I agree his worth goes beyond what he offers on the pitch and pertains more to talismanic, squad and club value which you rightly put a high premium on.

I just think it’s overstating it to say he’s irreplaceable.

  137. Wengerball – I do agree with you. If Man City want Toure and we are willing to sell they can pay through the nose for him.

  138. IF, IF, IF we sell toure, no need to buy a new CB: Gallas, Djourou, Vermaleen, Senderos, Song are all good enough – that might be the exact reason why, all sentiment aside, we can afford to sell Toure – there is enough at the club to make him expendable POSSIBLY.

Therefore, the answer to Ole’s question is: anyone who we cannot replace with someone better either from within or outside. So, RVP, Cesc, AA, Walcott is pretty unique of raw, I would say denilson, ramsey, wilshere, vela, bendtner also.

  139. Silver Gunner

Dont sell Toure rather get rid of Gallas I could see how if it meant keeping the better toure at arsenal, then there is the age thing Gallas is 32 compred to Toure’s 28 no brainer from my point of view unless he has set his eyes on city, in which case i will cry unashamedly as most fans know there aren’t too many top center back out there.

  140. Ole – also, i have to say that for me the one area with a big question mark over it is our defence, especially in the middle. For a season and a half now it has been very inconsistent.

We have quality players, but do they make a good unit, with the spirit that is part of a really gritty defence?

I have thought for a while that one of toure and gallas would have to go, (for me it should be gallas) they do not get along, whilst both are good individually they struggle at times as a pair and Djourou looked as good as either last season.

  141. RVP is not the best striker in the world, Cesc is not the best midfielder in the world, AA is not the best trequartista in the world, they are all replaceable for the right amount of money like Wengerball’s hypothetical super super centre back.

Once we rid ourselves of the need to worry about what certain players represent to club and fan, any player will be ready to go under the hammer.

  142. “However ridiculous we might seem when blogging, I think it’s fair to say that we are all very important people in the real world.”

I guess I shouldn’t have referred to unprovable “real world” experience to try to convince someone of something. Was that the problem?

  143. Silver Gunner

Djourou still looks nervous at times but that will go with experience, but i like him i would like to see him and or toure if he stays (PLease stay) tried in midfield to help combat the long ball ruffian teams (Stoke, Blackburn, Bolton).

Perhaps in these games adopt a 4-3-3 formation

    Arshavin Bendtner Theo
    ——–Cesc
    –Djourou Toure
    Clichy TV Gallas Sagna

What are your thoughts plus get toure and gallas at a safe distance from each other ;)

  144. OOU,

Your observation about the time LG was launched is bang on. However instead of believing that they were related to Usmanov’s arrival, I am of the view that they were more related to the issue of Dein’s departure from the club. Every day in the initial days of LG, there would be a pro DD blog with a pro Stan Kroenke end to the post. That was when Dein was seen to be in the Kroenke camp. They even made fun of Usmanov with a cartoon of Jabba the Hut and his uncanny resemblance to it.

After DD jumped into bed with Usmanov, they removed the Jabba the Hut references from the blog and gradually began running pro Usmanov blogs. Now LG is a tribute to the noble oligarch.

Also completely agree with Muppet’s and your points about some blogs being in business only for the money.

  145. .

  146. Silver Gunner

BTW the 3 fowards are inter changeable could be vela, rvp, aduardon but the important thing is the steel in midfield, against the areal attack.

  147. Silver Gunner

eduardo not aduardon lol butter fingers

  148. The match this evening will give us a big clue about Toure’s future. If he plays, I would take that as a sign he is staying. If he doesn’t play, we’ll have to wait for another sign.

  149. The post-match interview will be the key. Wenger will be asked or should be. If he doesn’t quash it then, I’ll take it as true.

Already I think it’s very telling that arsenal.com has not come out to quash rumours we’re about to sell our Vice-Captain to a team trying to buy their way into an elite club we belong to.

  150. We might also get a good idea about our formation, thus far we have played with 1 orthodox striker.

If we stick with that system I dont see that we would need a new striker. Very interesting to see who starts at the back though.

  151. It wouldn’t be an Arsenal summer if we didn’t at least talk about selling our captain or vice-captain.

  152. a similer video was posted before but hearing this commentator scream VELA VELA VELA VELA VELA VELA VELA VELA VELA VELA VELA VELA VELA gives me the tingles..

    Its but an hour now

  153. Silver Gunner

QOS quite right other clubs dont have this annual soap opera do they?!

  154. OG,

I agree about Kolo and the club’s lack of a statement to refute the story linking him to Citeh. Even Bendtner, a promising but junior player compared to Kolo has had comments on the official site refuting news stories linking him to AC Milan. There definitely seems to be some legs to the Kolo to City rumours unless the club issues a statement to the contrary very soon.

  155. I don’t believe the squad needs anyone. from a footballing standpoint. Last night I watched the game against ManU at the Emirates on Arsenal TV. When I realised we have that starting 11, plus RvP, Eduardo, Arshavin, Rosicky to name but a few it is clear what a great squad we have.

But from a moral point for the fans (and perhaps the players) a “good” signing, someone about whom there would be no arguements that he was improving the squad, would do wonders.

And just maybe stop some of the negative press and help dispell the impression we are broke, and our players are easy targets.

  156. he shouts GOL 15 times before the the video cuts abruptly..

The passion Kolo will stay.. his lil bruva said so, now why would he lie to his lil’ bruva, ha..

  157. Silver Gunner,

Man U fans had to put up with Ronaldo to Madrid stories for all of last summer before being put out of their misery very early this season. The chavs had a harrowing time with the Lampard to Inter Milan stories last season and then Terry to Citeh stories this summer. Smaller soap opera’s compared to what we are used to but nevertheless, soap opera’s they were.

  158. Silver Gunner

Like you said alex smaller ones they have elderado and we have frigging east enders and we are still waiting for the cliff hanger

  159. If there are any Gooners, still in any doubt as to the sheer stoopidity of an Usmanov backed takeover, only need to listen to the tripe on offer on Five Live and/or read today’s blog!

Nice work Yogi! You put it a lot more succinctly and politely than I ever could!

They are obviously pandering to the dim witted S*n headline reading sheep who for them, the earth is still flat and Eastenders is a rivetting, warts and all fly on the wall documentary about every day, honest East end folk…

  160. Haha! And I hadn’t even read Silver Gunners post, honest!

  161. time to sack the Board & bring back Dein. The board is only interested in generating equity returns for the shareholders. They don’t care about winning trophies. I’d like to see Fizman and his mates dip into his pocket & put some money into the club. He’s made a fortune off the back of Arsene’s ability to bring in young talent cheaply.

  162. Oh spike. You’re back. Just noticed that you were missing for a few days.

  163. Thanks for noticing Ateeb! Was it the junk mail sticking out of my letter box? Or the dozen milk bottles that were loeft on my doorstep???

    Bobby;

    Great irony there, hilarious!

  164. Bobby,

I agree but who will sack the board?

  165. Kolo starts in Hungary…

  166. True, we all know DD loves the club and hasn’t made a penny out of it, except for the £17million he made when he sold his shares to Usmanov, and the half million a year he was paid when working for it.

  167. Toure starts, lets hope that is the end of the transfer talk.

Interested to see if eduardo plays aup front with bendtner, or he and wilshere float between attack and midfield.

    C’MON GUNNERS!!!!!

  168. JohnN,

DD made a pittance – 75 million pounds when he sold out to Sheriff Fatman.

  169. But DD did it for the love of Arsenal… Any financial benefits were purely coincidental, honest guv!

  170. Kolo is leading the team out

  171. Eduardo starts!

  172. That certainly says to me that there are no plans to sell Toure.

  173. Alex, you are righ of course, it was 17% of the shares I was thining of. either way, a lot of money for loving the club.

  174. Bobby – The shareholder’s do not take a dividend. How are they making money out of the club then? I’ve asked this repeatedly from pro Usmanov people and never get an answer so it means one of three things

    a) You don’t know what a dividend is and therefore have no understanding of business.

    b) You’re on a wind up.

    c) You’re working for Usmanov and trying to gather support.

Anyone who has any doubts about the damage that an Usmanov takeover would do, speak to some Liverpool fans.

  175. I see that Arsenal Muse is writing again. I am sure that Arsenal Muse is a blog started by Usmanov’s Red & Shite PR people to undermine AFC and its present management.

  176. eboue`s friend

    eddy scored,yesssssssssssssssssssss

  177. Bernard,

You are probably right. Either that or the writer (I use the term loosely) is a spud on a wind up.

Could any blogger following today’s match please give an update when you get the time? Thanks a million.

  178. eboue`s friend

    2/0 to us,nicklas and eddy.

  179. Do you want player ratings? ;)

(please remove spaces, my previous post vanished into ether)

  184. Thanks eboue’s friend and OOU. This is super!

OOU, I have a special shrink who gives me my fix of playa ratings thank you very much.

  185. Can’t say too much about the build up play as there is obvious rustiness about, these 11 players are not that used to playing with each other in a match situation, plus Haladas have already played 4 competitive games, but the goal scoring has been clinical so far. Even as rusty as he must be, Eduardo never forgets where the goal is!

  186. If Eduardo can maintain fitness for the coming season he will win the golden boot.

  187. Text message received from Citeh-supporting friend completely out of the blue: “this year will be Arsenal’s year at least in the premier league, mark my words”.

  188. That’s what I thought, Marc, but now I’m beginning to think Bendtner could be our top scorer. He’ playing excellently at the moment, as he was at the end of last season.

  189. Poliziano – Adebayor leaving will give Bendtner an extra boost. That’s the dilemma of whether to bring in an extra striker.

  190. Please post highlights if you have/see them available…

    Cheers!

  191. Poliziano – I think I could settle for Bendtner, Eduardo and RVP taking the 3 top positions in the goals scored column.

  192. eboue`s friend

great chip from jack, hit the crossbar.great football from arsenal

  193. Bendtner will step up…he scored 15 goals last season as a 2nd or 3rd choice striker. I would expect about 20 or more goals this season.

    Come on Bendtner…

  194. Senderos is better than I would have thought in midfield. He’s a sort of superior Yaya.

  195. eboue`s friend

    5/0 rvp penalty

  196. RvP’s the best penalty taker in the world.

  197. Is Senderos, the breakthrough defensive midfielder we’ve been lacking?

Is AW making a new effective experiment?

  198. We’ll be witnessing a great revelation in Bendtner and Senderos this coming season.

  199. That’s strange I always thought Atom was Howard.

Agree with Pz. Don’t remember the last time he missed a penalty. RVP, claims that there is an unbeatable way to take a penalty.

  200. Eduardo for the Golden boot, Bendtner for the platinum boot and Senderos IS a defensive midfielder???? Really?

  201. Is Big Phil seriously playing in midfield then?

    Yikes and wowzers!

  202. Let me put it this way. Adebayor scored 24 in the 2007/2008 year. A year before that RVP was our leading goal scorer with 11 goals, and Ade had 7-8 goals. Given that Bendtner seems more talented, there is no reason, why he can’t step up and score as many as Ade did, or more.

  203. Phil looked great as a DM.

  204. Everyone’s saying that Senderos is leaving. Whatever happens, I doubt he’s going to be converted to a midfielder, although he has played there twice now. I suppose he could be brought on to help us defend a lead. Perhaps Wenger just wants him to improve his ability on the ball.

  205. eboue`s friend

the last time rvp missed a pen was against city at the emirates 07/08,cesc scored the winner with minutes to go.

  206. Pz,

    12 years ago……Petit was converted to…………

  207. Bendtner, Eduardo and RVP. Why do I need to remind you people again and again, about VELA!!!!!! He’s not playing doesn’t mean you take him out of the equation. Interesting to see if Arsene goes for a striker.

    Eboue’s friend,

So you’re saying RVP was lieng about that unbeatable way to take a penalty? Chose your words carefully.

  208. I can just imagine the shock, horror and bewilderment of a few over sensitive Gooners at the prospect of Wenger even daring to try and convert Senderos to a “DM” instead of signing;

Melo? erm, no, Cana? Nah, he’s fookin gone an all, who the fook then???

    Damn you Wenger!!!!

  209. For those who want extra steel in midfield, they don’t come much steelier than Senderos.

  210. Ateeb – If there is an unbeatable way to take a penalty lets not tell any one else.

  211. I would never rule anything out. Big Phil is getting a lot of minutes if we’re planning to offload him surely that’s at least a little odd. Anyway I don’t care what anyone says I like him, the big frowny faced shiny bonced Swiss stopper.

  212. RvP, Eduardo, Bendtner, Vela, Arshavin and Simpson.

    Do we need a striker?

    (Is that a rhetorical question?)

    Well…Is it?

  213. I think Traore deserves a mention. When I saw him play for Portsmouth last season, he often got in dangerous positions, but his crossing could have been better. He’s made some great crosses so far in pre-season.

  214. I think the unbeatable way to take a penalty is to kick the ball into the net where the keeper can’t reach it. Not sure though, not really an expert.

  215. Is Senderos in his final year of his contract? Sounds familiar?

  216. I remember how gutted RVP was when he missed that penalty against man city – he said something like, ‘with my technique, I should never miss!’ and I have never seen him miss one since. Basically you have to hit is hard and far enough into the corner so even if the goalkeeper dives the right way he cannot get to it.

  217. I’ve been quite impressed with Sagna’s crossing

  218. Are you mocking RVP?

  219. I’ll tell you RvP’s secret: he’s the best penalty taker in the world. That’s the trick. Sshhh.

  220. I would not be surprised to see Senderos stay now – from the pictures and video on the official site, he seems very happy in pre-season and not in a hurry to go anywhere. The fact that he has had his second outing in midfield is making me wonder now about a possible conversion whereas the first time I saw him there I assumed it was just about filling a gap and giving him a run out, now I’m not so sure. I would not be devastated if he stayed in that role, because he is familiar with his team mates and knows how we play whereas there are no guarantees with a newcomer. He could also help out at set pieces at both ends of the pitch. I look forward to seeing how this one pans out.

  221. steww, agree. If people were looking for Toure starting as a sign of him staying then what do you say when Senderos starts two games at DM? Surely he is not going or why would he take time away from others on the field.

  222. Passenal, agree, it will be interesting to watch that space. How awesome would it be if Senderos turns out to be a good DM…lots of doomers would be filling their pants.

  223. So, nobody’s leaving then, its clear now…. Except for Eboue, Kolo, Senderos, Silvestre, Bendtner, Cesc, Sagna, Clichy, Arshavin and Theo…

  224. Has Fabregas played in pre-season yet?

  225. No post-match chat with Arsene!

Who’s been the best player of pre-season so far? I’ll say Nicky B.

Silly hypothetical question: If Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool & Arsenal all spent £100M on players, who would win the league?

  226. Oh please spare me the twin fooking delights of Sky Sports advertising the new season by using that c*nt Mourinho and then havng to watch St John Terry be canonised for not fookin off to City and taking their £250k a week offer and having to make do with the measly new £150k deal the chavs have been forced to give him,

  227. California Gooner

Just a quick question. Could someone remind me why we haven’t seen Kolo slotted in at DM? If memory serves, he started out there. He runs around all day, is aggressive, quick in the tackle, likes to surge forward… exactly what gives?

  228. Damn just missed the game….any hightlights…??

Also KK is NOT going…..his been my favourite player since forever and no amount of money would make me agree with a sale of a Arsenal legend in this manner…….no sirey…..

And yes i would choose Kolo over Gallas as well as every other CB we own…..that KK is the Mr Arsenal of my generation and long may he reign!!!

  229. Well, we only drew with Haledas 1-1 last pre-season, so beating em 5-0 means we are definitely goin to win something!

  230. Ole, assuming we can field all 40 Blaise Matuidis at once, I suppose we would win just out of sheer number. That’s what we’d spend 100M, yes?

In all seriousness, the team that looks the scariest right now is Chelsea.

  231. CaliG;

Something to do with his engine, I think? Djourou wouldve been a more obvious choice, though.

  232. silver gunner

Well i wouldn’t have pegged swiss phil as a DM just goes to show.

I think Bendtner couls do well potentially but i think eduardo fitness permitting will be our leading scorer.

Spike what tickled you about my posts today?

  233. California Gooner

Maria, Check 101greatgoals.com.They have the goals there (for now)

  234. @ CG

I think i remember AW having a problem with his stamina.

  235. I’m sure Arsene is considering the big man for the DM position. Mind you he converted Petit from defence to midfield and the two of them played wonderfully. He ticks all the points.

    He has physical presence.
As a CB, he has no inclination to move forward other than to sit in front of the defence.

Today, he’s shown a better passing range than Denilson and Song.

He’s so huge for any opposing midfielder to bypass him.

He has aerial ability and can tackle.

He’s a good friend of Cesc and therefore can play well together.

If he has the stamina then he can be successful there

Arsene pulling another fast one while nobody is watching?

  236. The team that looks scariest hasn’t changed at all since last season. And came third. Moreover they’ve got a coach whose not really into winnig league titles.

  237. California Gooner

Maria, check 101greatgoals.com . I just saw the highlights there, so it should still be up.

  238. People please! Don’t even joke about Sendy as our answer to DM, at best Wenger’s having a laugh at his detractors. The boy may be able to speak several languages and be a generaly clever chap off the field. On it however the lad is a retard when it comes to positional scense.

    Arsenal’s answer to Ruprect!

  239. Arsechigao;

Chavs look the scariest in terms of them being the ugliest mutha fukin squad in history.

Cannot say any of the other 3 teams look scary in terms of strength, tho. Nope, none of em.

  240. California Gooner

Maria, check 101greatgoals dot com … I just saw the highlights; they should be there still.

  241. “Well, we only drew with Haledas 1-1 last pre-season, so beating em 5-0 means we are definitely goin to win something!”

And, and, and SH are a much stronger outfit this season – and they’ve already played a few Europa Cup qualifying games. So they were fitter this time round as well.

Obviously it’s never worth reading too much into preseason games (Senderos’ position included), but the squad look well up for it already.

  242. Silver;

Nuffin really, apart from I mentioned Eastenders right after you did.

  243. silver gunner

Is AW gonna pull a flamini with sendy??? Can’t see it somehow but the man has foresight that most of us lack.

  244. some on here are thick would rather get one up on the so called doomers then this great football team improve position.

  245. looks

  246. And it seems highly unlikely that we’ll see Sendros play in that DM role. I don’t think we’ve got the time to experiment this season, and I think that Denilson and Song did a pretty well job there, last season.

  247. California Gooner

Another possibility is that Arsene is simply playing Senderos out of position to build his awareness. That would be very total-footballesque.

  248. “Silly hypothetical question: If Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool & Arsenal all spent £100M on players, who would win the league?”

    The Arsenal…….duh……..loool

The others have spent 100 odd million and they still don’t possess better squads then us. Or a first eleven.Go figure.

  249. Kirby. Try again. That made no sense whatsoever. Are you related to Santino in some way?

  250. kirby;

    You speak like type?

  251. The Enirates Cup is probably where we will get a good idea of the team, formation, etc for the new season, I think. Tidays game and Wednesday’s are more about fitness and match sharpness, erm, most probably.

  252. Yeah Kirby, you spazza!

  253. so who cares ateeb spike so who cares who cares who cares

  254. Non Edible Nacho

I remember reading that RVP practiced penalties by telling the keeper where he would shoot them beforehand, and scoring them anyway.

  255. I assume ArseChicago meant that the facial appearance of Chelsea is scariest. Anyone who comes on here during pre-season and says that another team is better than Arsenal would have to be a complete tw*t, and I’m sure ArseChicago is not a complete tw*t.

  256. Wenger said that it was up to Senderos if he goes…naturally this would imply that Wenger has a plan for him in place. I don’t read Wenger as the “we’ll find something for him to do” type.

  257. pauley= who the fuck are you anyway, wannabe gangsta. your name is paul you prick.

  258. Man, that Maikel dude sullied the Panenka with his shitness.

  259. Kerby;

Wot? Question only askin matey, noffence

  260. Ooo k then Kirby, not to worry mate, we’re here for you mate. Takes all sorts I suppose.

  261. Senderos done well but it seems more of him getting fitness therefore playing him in DM rather than that being his future. Could be but at the moment more a fitness ploy as he rates others in front of him in defence.

  262. And only a complete tw*t would fail to read exactly what I wrote.

  263. Kirby;

Dude! Dont be so sensitive man, I was only messing.

  264. Senderos in central midfield then it is. Anything that pleases a doomer. If Atom and mates will promise to end their moaning I’ll go stand naked on my head eating french mustard till Arsene agrees to convert Senderos.

    Anything for the doomers.

  265. The official site is still counting RVP’s disallowed goal – to them the score is 0 – 6 Arsenal! Do you think someone left for the pub 10 minutes early?

  266. Kirby can’t take Arsenal winning, Kirby gets annoyed. Kirby want arsenal to lose, so he can be proven right. Relax Kirby, you can join the AKBS there is still time.

  267. I think of all the squad, Senderos is probably about 10th choice holding midfielder, really. I mean, Doris the tea Lady is ahead of him in the peckin order. But if it upsets a few negative knee jerks, then, yep, Big Phil is the new Vieira!

  268. Sorry, ArseChicago. Have I over-estimated you? I’m always doing that. It’s my good-nature, you see.

  269. Kirby? Isn’t that a game kids play by bouncing a ball off the curb, you thick and illiterate fuckwitted cunt!

  270. i know spike, my who cares thing was me messing.

  271. Messing your pants more like, retard!

  272. Only a complete tw*t would think Senderos is the 10th choice for holding midfielder.

  273. no, I don’t like people talking shit about arsenal to get one over on other arsenal supporters, especially when they preach the support thing 24-7 the pricks, half of don’t know what they are talking about anyway.

  274. Please let Sky spare us also, Spike, the praise for Gerrard as the model professional. I have a strong stomach these days but that would be too much.

I think Atom is Howard, Ateeb. He’s just evolving.

  275. pauley, i can’t take you seriously.

  276. Call in the ambulance. This one needs real help. Try to breath, think of the Ade offsides, you’ll feel better.

  277. Kirby, you just know what you can do, don’t you?

  278. So what was the final score? Some sites report 5-0 and the official site reports 6=0

  279. Yep, aplologies Mr. Yogi, won’t happen again honest. Don’t really wish to invoke the dreaded moderation over a plum like that.

  280. I don’t think we need another DM enough to convert Senderos for that position. I’m pretty sure this is partly to do with fitness, and partly coincidental. Still, it’ll be fun to find out for sure.

  281. fuck off

  282. Grab kirby, he’s getting fits. Losing it. Nervous breakdown, I am afraid. Only a tough doomer can take a 5-0 Arsenal win, and live on.

  283. Did I say 10th choice? Durrrr, I meant 9th…

    Consolsbob;

But Stevie G was just bustin a few moves, throwin a few shapes, in between visits to the Hospice, when he was subject to a completely unprovoked attack when a single fella threw his face at Stevie’s fists, just as he was doing the Aggadoo-doo-doo with 5 mates.

    Case closed

  284. Queen of Suburbia

    Is Kirby your surname?

I was just thinking, there can’t be many male Kirkby’s about?

Not making fun btw…am genuinely interested.

  285. Kirby sounds like a bit of Gangsta himself wid his 24-7 comment earlier too. Best be careful he doesn’t go all hungerford on us and pop several caps in our ass’s! The retard.

  286. yeah surname queen.

  287. how old are you pauley?

  288. Queen of Suburbia

    Ah! thanks.

  289. Song, Denilson, Diaby, Nasri, Ramsey, Djourou, Toure, Vermeallen, Randall, Coquelin, Doris, SENDEROS.

    My bad, 12th choice!

  290. How did Vermaelen look today?

Very excited about the young strikers in the stable. Maybe this will be Super Nick’s year to bag 30 goals.

  291. Sky Sports just had shot of Crouch getting into his car. He got in thru the back passenger seats, but he was the driver…. Jeeez that fella is tall… Freak!

  292. Why you asking Kirbster, want to show me a picture of your puppies? Retard and a perv, how marvellous!

  293. Spike, I think you forgot Eboue; he is pretty capable in central midfield. Also, I’d probably take Vermaelen out or move him down.

  294. Where was Diaby today? Surely not injured I hope!

  295. Queen of Suburbia

Crouch is now a Spud? Silly boy. How many clubs has that guy had?

  296. wow, this blog degenerated quickly…and all after kirby started posting. what a surprise.

I hear Doris is quite good at getting stuck in and can hold her own in the pub after the match too.

  297. It could be that Rosicky and Diaby were held back for Wednesday’s game.

  298. Fook sake see that pravda.com has tried to distort the scoreline. This is beyond a joke now. Wenger has totally lost the plot. Instead of investing in world class players, we have to watch Blunderous playing in the centre of the midfield, whilst Denilson and Song bumbled around and looked like charity givers at the christmas party. If anybody seriously believes that this ramshackle display is going to impress the likes of Everton, then they need to have brain surgery. Rosicky is injured again, even though pravda has tried to cover it up, and we know that Wenger will be trying to sell on 2 or 3 of our best players before the window shuts cos we are in desperate need of the money. If the club had any balls, we would be bidding now for those players that Manchester City are bidding for, but instead we are in a bum fight with the likes of Sunderland for top european players who are now expressing the wish to play for clubs other than Arsenal, who they see as also runs already for the premiership.

  299. You got that right kirby! First time for everything.

  300. Really hope we can get the majority of this season out of Rosicky, Edu and Arshavin, 3 big players that could ensure 4th at least if not better.

  301. One of us;

Oh yeah, apologias! Eboue should be in there too.

Well, if Doris can transfer the way she shields the custard creams onto the pitch, then she is a shoe in for the DM role, in my big book of football tactics.

  302. Oi you lot – stop bashing big Phil. He could be the answer. Maybe to a different question than the one most of you are thinking of but you never know.
I too suspect he was there to get some running in but also arsene would have watched how he broke up play in the middle of the park and how bloody tall did we look at their corner.
Ah we’ll never know what Arsene is thinking. If we could know then so could anyone and what good would that do us?

  303. I agree with steww.

  304. And her positional sense is immense! She knows exactly where to position the cakes and biscuits on the tea trolley so as to allow room for the more creative fruit teas and exotic coffees to do their thing.

    Stewww;

No one is knocking Phil (well I aint anyways) he is a centre back and a good one at that.

  305. I’m surprised nobody has ridiculed Denilson for that absurd reverse backwards pass that put Eduardo through on goal.

  306. It just seems a bit un-Wenger-like to go with a clogger in midfield. Senderos uses the ball OK, but nowhere near as well as our other options. Understandably, of course.

  307. Just point me in the direction of a clip of that Polizi and I will get right on it.

  308. Oh yes, and there was this absurd reverse backwards pass by Denilson that put Eduardo clean through on goal. Shocking.

  309. I don’t know if Diaby is third choice holding midfielder. Wenger doesn’t seem keen to play him there at all.

  310. Poliziano,

It doesn’t count. Denilson is lightweight, and even Giggs ran past him. His positional play is poor, and you’ve been told numerous times-HE ONLY PASSES BACKWARDS & SIDEWARDS.

  311. It wasn’t just reverse backwards, but slightly sideways as well.

  312. Diagonal even.

  313. can i get d result confirmed please?

pretty please with a cherry on top?

  314. Actually Senderos is going to be a striker and Arshavin is moving to DM with Arsene himself on the wing behind RVP…

  315. We won 5-0.

  316. Denilson has been passed over in the Brazilian national team. Anderson has 200 caps, Leiva has 863….wake up, Denilson is Arsene & Eboue’s love child. We need to get rid of craps

  317. Anybody see those fluke goals by Eduardo, Bendtner and Van Persie. Flukes… all of them.

  318. A comfortable 0-5. At least I think so anyway…. anyone?

  319. Just saw the highlights.

What the f*ck was Denilson thinking??? Eejit!

Bendtner seemed to have a hand in every dam thing today! This is gonna be his year… I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my, erm.

  320. well what triggerred you guys off like this?

hope it is safe to remain here?

well poli thanx, but the official site reports 6-0… a brace for rvp as well me thinks

  321. Am i the concerned about dear old KK?

  322. 1 of RVP’s was ruled out for offside, oh and Kirby sucks the root by the way.

  323. *only one

  324. Bendtner the little strutter and his pink boots. Worst striker ever seen at the Arsenal and that’s counting Boa Morte. If Bendtner is a goal scorer I’m the telephone pole around which the earth revolves.

Wake up tinters, Wenger is running down Arsenal, Bendtner is even worse than Adebarndoor.

  325. Queen of Suburbia

Kevin Keegan? Korner Kick spelt badly?

  326. just read that there was a ruled out goal for rvp… it appears official site counted it!

  327. Krispy Kreme is in trouble? Cesc will be heartbroken!

  328. I hope this turns into a girl fight.

  329. Brilliant article by Barry glendenning on the John Berry situation at Shellsey. http://u.nu/25pn

  330. highlights

  331. Pauley, ok thanx… confirmed then,,, .com have updated their report too

  332. Behave, Ateeb.

  333. Yep, certainly need another forward, that’s for sure. Bendtner has the effort but not sure he’s going to set the league on fire, his attitude’s improved a lot though so I’d definately keep hold of him just in case. Never a first choice striker though.

  334. Bob,

I think Maria meant KT. But it came off KK. And QoS couldn’t stop herself from having a go at Maria, with the korner kick spelt wrongly comment. So I was expecting given Maria’s scratching nature, we might get to see some girl vs girl action.

  335. Oh Bendtner can definitely set the league on fire… a few matches, some lighter fuel and he’ll have the gaff ablaze in no time.

  336. Krispy Kreme is in trouble? Cesc will be heartbroken!

Just seen Cesc’s new training pics…..very much doubt he will!!!

    @ Pz check out 3

    http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/pictures-from-saturday-s-training

WTF has Armand shaved his head??

  337. Brilliant article by Barry Glendenning on John Terry http://u.nu/25pn It went right over the Chav heads as comment thread shows.

  338. On QofS’s ‘joke’ that I completely missed earlier

    hahaha……

Oh and ditto for Ateeb…..well done you…..

  339. FYI

    I did mean to right KK…..meaning King Kolo…you…..£$%$^$%^% & £$%£$%$£%

  340. Queen of Suburbia

    oooh you are troubley Ateeb.

    No wonder Le-Grove hates you!

  341. Well done Spike.

  342. Eduardo has to sleep in a bucket of special nutrients.

  343. Couple of good saves from the boy Scezcny, my link went down in the second half so thanks for the highlights KS.

  344. After Ade, none of the other players that want to stay should be sold

  345. ooooooh ohhhhh….let me change that right to *write wouldn’t want another ‘joke’ on my head…..

  346. Maria,

No need to swear at QoS. She didn’t notice that you meant King Kolo. And she was just kidding around with the korner kick comment. But I don’t see any reason that you’d start using abusive language at her, especially the “£$%$^$%^% & £$%£$%$£%” word.

  347. Queen of Suburbia

Its like the ghost of Franch1se.

  348. hahaha……..

Just want to make sure i am in there early this time.

  349. I’m off, you both are not yet ready, to be direct and face each other, one on one.

  350. Queen of Suburbia

Are you watching WWF again Ateeb?

  351. I wonder if Wenger will buy Huntebaarndoor to replace Adebarndoor, or if he thinks Barndoortner is enough.

  352. If i wished to be one on one with someone it cetainly wouldn’t be QofS…..now %*^£ %$” Ateeb.

  353. Let’s not forget Robin bandoor Persie, Carlos Velbarndoor, and Barndoorazite.

  354. Fine. I just thought, it would be good for the morale if you both could get along. Anyways….goodnight:)

  355. I tried to play to his super ego for awhile just couldn’t hold it….the guy is seriously losing it…..

  356. How good is Eduardo ?

    Seriously.

In 2007 he was 2nd favourite behind Torres to finish top scorer in the premiership. If he is fully fit now, that makes him, surely, higher rated than Anelka, Drogba, Roque Santa Cruz, Adebayor, Berbatov and Rooney.

Is he better than Huntelaar and Villa ?

Is he better than Benzema ?

Could he become as highly rated as Torres ?

  357. @ P

“Eduardo has to sleep in a bucket of special nutrients.”

    Seriously what was that??

Oh and here’s Cesc looking worn out at training 7 shows its working though.

    http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/fabregas-back-in-training-exclusive-pictures

  358. Sorry, Muppet, do you mean Edbuarndooro?

  359. “Is he better than Huntelaar and Villa ?

Is he better than Benzema ?

Could he become as highly rated as Torres ?”

EEEEEEEEERRRRRRRR well…..since i don’t rate these players much in the first place it’s a HELL YEAH from me.

Anelka, Drogba, Roque Santa Cruz, Adebayor, Berbatov and Rooney

As for this lot…….if i wanted a goal scorer i would still pick EDS…..’all round striker’…..i haven’t seen enough of Eddy to decide…..

  360. Paulie Walnuts

A full season at full fitness with ammo from RVP, Cesc, Nasri, Arshavin, Doris, Denilson, Senderos etc would see Eduardo break 30 easily

  361. http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=goal_goalcom_world_player&prov=goal&type=lgns

    VEEEEEEEEELAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  362. Ice water (sometimes with electrolytes mixed)…in a bucket promotes rapid healing via massive reduction in swelling directly after working the muscle. Common in many sports…

  363. Who is Doris ? I am a bit slow here…

  364. Seems we’re behind the times…Huntelaar out. Vucinic in!! Lol…the papers are mad

  365. Edubarndoor….

and the other little barndoors in training like Sanchez Wattbarndoor, Jay Simpbarndoor, Gilles Sunubarndoor, lots of barndoor quality at the Emirates

  366. I think they mean Barn Dooris, Muppet.

  367. I think it should be Edukeyhole as opposed to Edubarndoor.

  368. More moderation…….is it only me???

  369. Yes Maria… you are an AKB.

  370. Trade ‘em all for cash for Dempsey and Davies, then all we gotta do is change our team logo…

  371. Hi Maria
    I love you Maria

  372. @ Axis….interesting thanks for the info

@ Muppet….seriously the last one was just a Vela link…i think Yogi has it in for me…..

  373. Doris the tealady of course! Keep up people.

  374. I suppose only Walcott and Wilshere drink tea at Arsenal.

  375. Polizbarndoor

  376. Queen of Suburbia

Maybe Ateeb has got to him Maria?

  377. axis,

    I like Zamorbarndoor best….

When the moon, hits your eye
and you’re sitting, in row i
    That’s Zamora!

  378. LMFAO!!!!

    Ole for the win!!

  379. Maria,

If you paste two links, you get put in moderation.

It thinks you are a spammer.

  380. Walcott and Wilshere get teased for having tea and cucumber sandwiches after training, when everyone else has coffee and croissants.

  381. QofS….mmmm…methinks so…..has been ongoing though…….

  382. I don’t know Poliziano, maybe our English boys are getting more cosmopolitan and enjoy the odd coffee and croissant, whilst the foreign boys are getting a taste for tea. Didn’t they all enjoy a cuppa when they were invited round to Liz’s place recently?

  383. @Muppet

Don’t think it was that, it was only one link and my other comment awaiting moderation didn’t content any links.

  384. It’s all been turned on its head Maria. ACLF has gone to doom…bloodless coup (Frank’s in Doris’s tea cabinet though), and any damn AKB comments will be expunged into the depth of Usmanov’s belly.

  385. Who is this Doris ?

  386. You might be right, Passenal. Probably not espresso, though. I can see Walcott enjoying a latte with his croissant, while Wilshere prefers a mocha.

I think Russians might like tea as well.

  387. Yogi has been made ‘an offer he can’t refuse’ and we will see the evidence tomorrow when he starts to post pro Usmanov/DD propaganda. He will claim it’s a road to Damascus moment and he has seen the light, meanwhile he will be living large on the profits of betrayal. The moderation of AKB posts is only the start. Mark my words!

  388. You guys think i am joking…..just you wait…..i have a feeling if it’s Ateeb that QofS is next on his list….after she refuses his invitation for a ‘cyber cat fight’ with my lovely self.

  389. Hope Doris gets a run out in the next game.

  390. I will now be referred to as Comrade Gooner….you will henceforth be required to demonstrate your loyalty to the new regime.

Uzbek dictionaries have been mailed to you. All conversations after now will be in Uzbeki…

Doov youov understandov orski dovin Iov haveski comeov & beatov itski intoov you?

  391. Yes, I can see it now. After matches, Walcott, Wilshere, and Arshavin go to their own little table and are served a pot of tea. The two boys have cucumber sandwiches, whilst Arshavin digs into one of those foul cabbage concoctions that they like in Russia. In the interests of team unity, I fancy, one day a week is coffee day, and everyone has coffee together. Another day is tea day, and then they all drink tea. The other players make jokes about drinking tea, but secretly they rather enjoy it, and even look forward to it.

  392. @ OG

Will we be forced to gain weight aswell??

  393. That GK, Sczesny(not sure of name)is a real prospect. Seems better than Manone and Fabianski already. He pulled out two big saves.

    A real prospect indeed

  394. Any kind of avarice will do Maria.

  395. Is it me or is Mandanda becoming increasingly like AIC.

  396. Wasn’t it a Traore cross for Bendy that won the last game of the season for us against Everton in 07/08? I have the vaguest of recollections and their goal today made me think of it.

  397. macs livery yard

I have just been on the mobile to our Fan on the European Tour; he asked me to log two important points
1)Arsenal kabisa you really do speak utter b******s
2)TV is going to be the Boss of the Back Four

Seriously he was raving about TV and the way he reads the game; but then he would know wouldn’t he? As I am sure most of you have already realised our ACLF talisman was a rather accomplished CB in his prime.

ps Lady N has fully recovered

  398. WTF??? Second post now but I am still confused over this ‘guy’ is he talking for Uncle Frank or is it another undercover troll…..and this lady N……who cares???

  399. OK, I’m done with commenting.

I think I’m in a a spiritual rut, and I’ve started taking blog criticism to heart, which is just silly, and probably proof that I need to make a clean break.

Keep up the great work, YW, and all you regulars.

And here’s to an amazing season.

Bye from me and Bragging Rights Ltd (my evil copywriting twin).

  400. John N-spot on. Wenger will sell any player who says he wants to go. Reason why Kolo was not the DM-lack of stamina according to AW last year.
Don’t share this blogs views about sale of Ade and Kolo. Think you will find Moshiris views widely held in the city- he is probably just repeating them-but nevertheless- If we were in ANY other competitive business we would not sell 2 key assets to a direct competitor. We received fair money- not great money for them in an inflated market. All the replacements quoted are not true replacements -none of them have the CL/PL experience or track record- fact is we can’t buy replacements with the money we have received-even if we could spend it all on players.
Kroenke is not a scalper- he is not an especially useful investor either- he is there solely to block Jabba.
Unfortunately the self sustaining plan of our hot shot MD has but one flaw- it does not explain how demand i.e. revenues can be maintained when the team is being sold off to revenue raise non playing areas of the business.
