Is It All Ade-ing Up?

When does fact become fiction or fiction become fact? The starting place for these might well be football’s transfer mill. If one club is desperately seeking comfort through the spending of cash, there is not one shred of doubt that they will be the source of a high percentage of rumours. That the club in question is playing in the English Premier League is manna from heaven for journalists covering the sport in this country.

Manchester City are intent on buying their way to the title. It will take more than one summer splurge to do so. An impressive first XI is worth nothing if the players who will be needed when injuries and suspension strike are not up to standard. That is not to dismiss them; were City to sign Adebayor and Terry then they may have the potential to become a good team. Even if they do sign those and more players, there is no guarantee that they will become a good team. A huge raft of signings will take time to bed down and that is going to be a commodity in precious short supply at Eastlands once this summer is over.

For Adebayor, the question is what his ambitions in the game are. Where will he best achieve them? With the best will in the world, none of the players who have signed for Manchester City since their takeover has done so to believe in the ‘project’ as it is being euphemistically called. The primary reason has been money. When manager of Arsenal, George Graham shied away from signing players from bigger clubs since those from smaller clubs were hungrier for success. Far from being good for the English game, should Manchester City rise to the top, they merely reinforce the idea that merit is no longer a benchmark but money is. Not that fans of Manchester City will care right now.

Does Adebayor believe in achieving success? Will he win the Premier League title at Eastlands or The Emirates? Or is it going to be the lure of money that holds sway? Whatever happens, City has yet to lodge a bid that matches the reported £25m valuation placed on him by Arsenal. We can argue the merits of this either way but at the time of writing, he is still an Arsenal player and personally, I would prefer that he remain one. There are few world class forwards available for purchase. If reports are to be believed, proven strikers are in short supply. Those at the peak at larger clubs are not going to be easily prised away. Arsene will no doubt have a list of those ready for replacing the Togo striker and in that, you have to place some trust.

Could he go into the season without buying someone to replace Adebayor? I do not think so. Eduardo and Bendtner have the ability but for differing reasons, cannot be relied upon just yet. The Croat is on the return from a serious injury and yet to put together a run in the first team, proving his fitness. That is the risk in relying upon him. The Dane by contrast is ready in terms of fitness but short on experience. I believe he will be a leading Arsenal striker in the future but is perhaps a season or two away from leading the line in all competitions. He is definitely a confidence player and the autumn saw this at a low point. The turning point came at The Hawthorns. Can Arsene leave this season to chance?

With the replacements mooted, there are risks. Dzeko has been a star in the Bundesliga for one season. Chamakh played for the French champions. Neither has an overall impressive goalscoring ratio for their careers but then neither did Adebayor before arriving at Arsenal.

The key thing is that Adebayor is undervalued by sections of the Arsenal support. Yes, he could score more but then Robin van Persie criticised himself for the same thing. Football is a team game and that which Adebayor brings to the side is undervalued in a welter of complaints about offsides and only scoring against Derby County. The former misses how tightly he plays on the last defender’s shoulder whilst the latter, well, if he did not score against them, he would be charged with failing to score against Derby County.

The remaining forwards do not bring the aerial option for Arsenal. It would mean a change to the way that the team plays, losing the variety. Yes, I know that we do not score that many headers but that is evolving, certainly last season when the unbeaten run was put together, the completeness of the play in footballing terms was key to that. Vela and Walcott, in my opinion, will always be the support striker to an established forward. In the latter’s case, he has much to learn about being a central striker before even being considered for Arsenal in the Premier and Champions Leagues.

If Adebayor goes, he goes. The club will still be here, the squad loses a good player. I would be surprised if he went since City are not in the Champions League and will not be Premier League champions next season. They have too much ground to make up. His departure would weaken the squad of that there is no question.

To deny it is to delude yourself. For all of the media hype, I suspect he will not go unless Arsenal says to him you can. Reports that his agent met with City at the weekend cannot be dismissed but even with the money, will he be improving his lot as a player?

Responses

  1. I’m a big fan of yours, YW, but seriously…of course Adebayor will leave for the money. He DOUBLES his salary. I have a sneaky feeling that Chamakh is the red herring and Arsene will pull off an outrageous deal. He’s saving himself 80k a week-maybe there’s some room for an A-list striker with a hunger to play for us.

  2. Morning!

Well, i certainly didn’t expect the response i got from passing on a little piece of information!

Just for the record, i mentioned it as a matter of interest, and not for any ’sensasionalism’, or to seek any kudos as being someone in the know.

I did make it clear at the time, that it could be a load of rubbish, but i felt the quality of the information my friend had given on the past gave it some credence.

  3. sensationalism even…. excuse my spelling, the fingers cant keep up with the brain.

  4. YW,

May I just say that I think thats a really accomplished piece of writing and gives a very even view of the situation.

  5. Hi,
It’s not that he gets into off-side positions, It’s that he’s so bloody lazy getting back on-side.
He seems to think that the team should revolve around him and that when they miss the chance to put him through, we have to give the opposition the ball and start again……..

  6. £25m for a player who scored 10 league goals last season.Wenger you are a genius

  7. I hope Ade stays… I see good things a head with our current squad… All those haters will be kicking themselves if they run Ade away into the arms of ManShitty and he scores 20 odd goals for them.
Those two faced fans select who they attack… Usually ade, eboue, den.. and conveniently ignore fab and walcott even though they have played well below their usual standard…

Ade should stay… eboue should stay

  8. Very good article and well written piece however I do disagree with one thing…Adebayor as with any player that signs with City WILL have a better chance of winning the league than we do in the near future. When you throw that kind off money at a team then they will win the championship very very soon. In fact if they sign the players they say they’ll sign (Terry, Adebayor and lescott/Toure) then I feel their only a moriniho or a Hiddick away from challenging for the title.

  9. Get shut of Adebayor…
Let eboue, song and Toure follow him.

I don’t know much about Chamakh but from what I’ve seen he doesn’t look that good. Huntelaar would be a better bet.

Cana, Benega, Toulalan or of course Melo would an be exiting Midfield acquisition.

And Eden Hazard would be a better bet than Eboue..

Toure – we’ve seen the best of him.

  10. I think this is win win for Arsenal. I do question Ade as a man. As a player he is very very good. However, as a man, Im not sure I like him.

However, with an offer like this, should he stay, it goes some way to prove he does want to be here, and win things.

If he goes, we were right, and we got him off the books. Sweet.

    COME ON THE GUNNERS

  11. Wouldn’t the perfect striker to take advantage of Arshavin and Fabregas’s passes be Eto’o? Apparently, he’s looking for a way out of Barcelona and maybe working for Arsene would be the solution for him. With 20-25 million from Ade and a savings of 80k a week, signing Eto’o would be the gamble that could win the league for us.

One other thing…it wouldn’t be a massive shock to see Vermaelen tried out as the defensive midfielder we’re all looking for. Strong in the air, good distribution, quick and hard as nails.

  12. Morning all

Another good article, could be an interesting day.

Terry moving would blow the minds of Chelsea fans.

Ade moving? Well in Arsene we trust and he does have a habbit of producing rabbits, so its a case of watch this space I suppose.

  13. good article ,well written but I have to say that you are wrong about the possible loss of Adebayor.

He is an uneducated spoilt brat and untrustworthy which has infested the team.

He is not above average and worth worrying about if he leaves and Wenger would not let him go unless he wishes to. We have plenty of quality in the squad and plenty in reserve.

There is life after any player and that includes some of the greats i.e. Berkhamp, ,Brady etc

  14. adebayor is crap and the sooner he leaves, the more relieved we ll all be. Adebayor is the only striker who has proven that an empty goal post does not translate into a scoring chance. what manner of a striker is this that clocks more tha 20 offsides in a game?. He frustrates the beautiful combination play by straying offside at every given opportunity. Happy to see him go even for less than the reported £20million. Happy to sell to city a whole load of trash that he is.

  15. Good riddance if he wants to go. Maybe we could chuck in Eboue as well to make sure the deal goes through

  16. Chuck in Eboue? Are you crazy? lagooner, I like the idea of Eto’o too — he is truly class, a striker who scores when given the least sniff of goal and a tireless worker as well. However, I doubt we could pay his wages. I wonder about raiding Villareal as they are full of quality and intelligent quality at that, and their coach just left — but that isn’t really Arsene’s style, is it? Anyhow, it’s all wild speculation, even if the ‘what if’ game is rather fun.

  17. Interesting conundrum.

A year ago to lose Ade was unthinkable, on the back of a less successful outing overall last year, the appeal of Sheik Something or others fortunes swelling our…well….overdraft facility may now be a little more attractive.

Yogi, is spot on again though. As boring as it is, to wave the Millions away and not enter into the realms of a quick game of fantasy football, the lack of options available, the risk of a striking line up without title contending depth or experience is simply too dangerous a gamble.

Imagine if Ade was sold and the club failed to acquire adequate replacements as many have struggled thus far, see United and Barcelona fans to see a few who are hardly happy with their lot, then say City turns up at the Emirates and Ade bullies an Arsenal back line who have lost the odd physical rumble in the past, following this an injury ravaged, unsettled Arsenal side who have seen yet another senior player leave close season are pipped to a Champions League spot by among others, Ade’s Sky Blues…

I am not saying these events would transpire, but what I do know is, if they were to, the same fans calling for the big cheque and naming their umpteen replacements, who live not in the real business World of football, but the Dream team fantasy football World, where if you have the cash, half the population can have the same Steven Gerrard in their team, those same fantasists will be calling for Wenger’s head.

It is interesting and of course ww should sell Ade…mind you, that is only if we have all our Steven Gerrards lined up to sign the very next day.

  18. California Gooner-Agree with you about Eto’o probably breaking our wage structure, but we can all live in hope. One thing for certain is that Van Persie is not the answer as our #1 choice lead striker and nor is Bendtner (for now at least).

I think most of us trust Arsene to choose wisely, I just hope he decided to choose to replace him rather than stay with his current strikeforce and start the season without a lfast, clinical ead striker. Ade leaving will be a good thing, but only if Arsene brings on board a striker to compliment Arshavin and Fabregas.

  19. Fellas does not this E’to talk you have conjured up say it all.

City and all their Millions failed to land him.

We are in a market competing against a Manchester United with jugs of liquid finance just now and AC Milan desperate to outlay their Kaka fund and you all suppose we’ll just dump Ade then pick up the phone to the Champions of Europe and say stick E’to on a plane, we’ll have him.

That sounds a nice low risk strategy.

Wenger why didn’t you think of it.

  20. i hope adebayor goes now, he doesn’t deserve the shit he gets from arsenal haters and i wonder who the haters will pick on next.

it’s optimistic to say man city can’t win the title- of course they can. here’s no such thing as too much ground to make up. everyone starts on 0 points and plays the same number of games. tevez robinho, barry, ireland – these are all quality players with premiership experience and it looks like more are going there.

  21. DNFTFT

  22. From a footballing perspective this doesn’t seem to make sense…reports of Ade having a bad season are wide of the mark. He had an injury hit season and still managed a very respectable return.

He’d be missed. I always feel that there is a goal in him whenever he plays.

That makes me think that there are other factors at play here.

  23. LOL Bob…

If i had known what it has started, i think i would of kept my post to myself!

  24. Adebayor has made no secret of his desire to maximise his earnings from football and why should we blame him for that. He comes from a very impoverished background, which he has not forgotten setting up his foundation in Nigeria and Togo. If he is offered the reported £120K – £170K per week, he is not going to turn that down.

I would prefer him to stay, as he offers something that none of the other strikers we have do. But at the same time, he doesn’t really fit in with the counter-attacking play that looks like might be coming back. If anything, I see Ade as more an impact sub for us, so if we get good money for someone who is going to be a regular then I’m not going to complain.

I don’t think we would replace Ade either. Wenger has already started talking about a change of formation to a 4-3-3 or and I see Arshavin, van Persie and Walcott making up a fluid front 3, with Bedntner, Eduardo and Vela as alternatives.

  25. Words like “uneducated”… where does that come from (what do you know of his education)..

Statements like “I don’t like him as a man (do you bloody well know him)

… statements like “he lazy(i have seen him run length and breath of the pitch)…

If you all remember he had one season wrecked by injuries and low match fitness…and played in an arsenal team with a large section of our first team injured….. and you all turned on him. Instead of encouraging him like we should do with all our team.. you people publicly humiliated him and then expect him not to react…
You then insult him with words like uneducated and worse. I can safely say I’m ashamed to be an arsenal fan.
Do other teams talk about their players like this?… If you people pushed to get rid of Ade… you will regret it all we need is probably one more addition and all the team to be fit and the season is ours….

Ade should stay… they all should stay

    Support the Arsenal..

    Thats the troof

  26. Yogi,

is adebayor bothered abt improving as player..i dont thk so..he ofcourse is bothered abt money…and also he likes fame..he has always sought it..fame he may not get with man citeh..he may well be relegated to bench..cause citeh with so many fwds will be impatient..

he will also miss cesc…i suspect half his goal r provided by cesc…

next if he doesnt click at citeh..how will they get rid of him…with his sal so high..no other club wud buy him even with 50% disc on transfer fee..

if citeh end up mid table again..i wud have great laugh..they will be carrying lot of white or black elephants

  27. DNFTFT!!!!

  28. Danny-you missed the point. We need a striker like Eto’o, even if Eto’o himself is out of reach. That striker needs to be quick and a clinical finisher. Maybe that’s what Chamakh will deliver, but probably not in time for this season.

Don’t forget that Eto’o may have turned down City for other reasons. Kaka would have been paid more in addition to a higher transfer fee, but he chose Madrid.

Sure, AC Milan may be a more likely destination, but it’s not beyond the realm of possibility. However, without the qualities that a striker like Eto’o brings, it will be tough for Arsenal to win the league this season. I’m a supporter that’s happy for Champions League football every season and anything more is a massive bonus. But the fact remains that without an A-list lead striker, it will be VERY difficult this season to move beyond 4th place.

  29. Adebayor will go for the money because he said he’s looking for his retirement money.

Yes, he scored 30 goals in 2007/8 but they were mostly effortless; goals created by technical midfielders, Hleb and Fab4 also Walcott in the case of Milan and Pool. Goals so difficult to miss than score. 18 of his 30 goals were such tap ins. He won’t get those chances at City and he didn’t score that at Monaco ‘cos he got no creative support.

AW can create a superstar out of Chamakh or Dzeko. For the past three seasons Dzeko has averaged 20 goals a season but he will be too expensive.I believe Chamakh will be the player to replace him. His sale will enable us to buy an athletic DM in addition to Chamakh and balance our books as well.

Of course with Rosicky and AA playing full season in the coming season, Bendtner at 21 can improve his goals tally from 15 to 20.

Ade didn’t score 15 a season at Monaco even though at 22/23 he was at Monaco. Nik will be a scoring machine at 24/25 and he knows what the offside rules are unlike Ade.

AW should sell the pretender at a minimum of 25 and get the attitudinal problems out of the dressing room. Ade has already been sackedby his national coach and was also a problem at Monaco.

    We don’t need him.

  30. Adebayor had an injury-hit season last time around and when he did play, the personnel around him were always chopping and changing. He brings more to the team than just goalscoring as he’s a real handful, just ask Ferdinand. He needs to improve on his conversion rate of last year but that can be said for everyone else in the squad.

  31. It’s too late Bob….

  32. Yes we’d be losing a good player (maybe great when he wants to be) but we’d also be offloading someone who, after scoring 30 goals for us, agitated for a move all last summer, got rewarded by having his wages doubled and then payed Arsenal back but halving his effort.

If its over 20mil then I’d be tempted to say take the cash and laugh all the way to the bank

  33. I don’t think your last line rings true lagooner. We sold Henry and went into the following season without an “A list” striker – we did pretty well.

  34. Six of debeyors goals were against derby. He’s so overated and we’ll be a much better footballing team without him. Arshavin has landed, we no longer need that plonker Adebeyor

  35. Steve halving his effort? Can you back that up?

    Do you mean goals scored?

  36. Are you invoking the goals against Derby don’t count rule Jimbo?

Didn’t Torres and Ronalso play against Derby as well?

  37. Queen of sub, I dont know if you nopticed but he was shit last season. I watched every game and he was crap. He spent most of his time on the floor or off-side. This is good business for us, believe me

  38. Queen of Sub, Ade is useless, trust me

  39. QOS-Adebayor was an A-List striker in the season after Henry left. He just got his head turned. Hope the last line rings more true now…

  40. So many things wrong with selling Adebayor. The example of delusion shown by lagooner up there is multiplied by the millions.

lagooner thinks £80k a week can buy an A-list striker. Delusion has gone viral.

  41. Good lord

The Ade haters are out today, you must be all delighted with this latest piece of speculation. What you all gonna do when hes still wearing the red n white come next month??? Suicides will be at an all time high in North London!

  42. Wenger has said Ade can go if he wants to- the same response as the sale of Hleb last year. Difference is Ade is going to a direct rival who will play him. He is young and a proven Prem goalscorer- All the signs are he will go. Who ever we sign we will not be able to replace him with a proven PL goalscorer. Effectively again the squad will be weakened. Why sell him? because a few idiots don’t like him?

  43. @ The TROOF – I completely agree wit u……

  44. lagooner, I get it! A striker like E’to, no problem. We don’t know one but I’m sure Wenger knows ten. The fact City, AC Milan, United and Barca are all looking for strikers need not matter. The fact they all may have considered our Ade is irrelevant. Let’s find this E’to mark two, i’m sure this lad will not want to join anyone but us. Easy.

  45. Ole Gunner

I admire your defense of the player yesterday, like you said there is no reason for us to get rid of one of our better players and there is no reason why the fans feel they have to drive him out.

It will be such a shame if he leaves, I will be happy if we keep all our strike force together for this coming season.

As Wenger said, the less changes the better .. he also said he will try his best to keep the squad together. Keep trying boss

  46. Steve-couldn’t agree more with you. We were probably all fans of Adebayor in large part due to his effort. Then came the ‘Milan’ summer and it’s hard to deny he mostly strolled through last season.

  47. Etoo may want to join us… who deosn’t!

The problem is the wages these big egos seem to demand. Etoo will not come unless he halves his wages.

  48. OleGunner-read my post properly and then reply. Where did I say 80k would buy an A-list striker?

  49. lagooner, strolled? He was lying down for heavens sake. Eboue was sent on as sub on a number of occasions just to wake him up with his clown act

  50. Guys, Derby weren’t in the Premiership last year! Adebayor missed a considerable chunk of the season last year and still scored as many as RVP/Bendtner. If he sometimes comes across as not a likeable guy then that doesn’t mean we treat him as such. If we score goals, then thats that. He does well more often than he doesn’t. personally he will struggle with the Man City midfield anyway but If he goes good luck.

  51. Adebayor is a world class player….

The haters should be careful what they wish for….

  52. Totally ambivalent, on Ade.

“World class” is a phrase too easily used.

    Very good summary, YW.

I would add that Ade was even more useful for his sheer energy, a real menace to defenders, than his goals in 07/08. This was something he failed to produce last season & it made him a 1/3rd of the player. He is not intelligent enough, as a player, to be effective when not playing full out.

Injuries may have played a part in this diminishment of effectiveness, so maybe he can still get back to the player of 07/08?

He has lost a section of the support, especially the anti support, & perhaps the will to do well for those people, so on balance if we get £25m + then it may be best he goes. If he stays he continues to get my support provided he gets back to doing what he does best.

We would need another tall striker to take his place in the squad, unless AW thinks Simpson, who is strong, may be ready to be an option. Don’t expect a so called super star.

  53. As ever nice piece. Our side will be weakened is to presume he will be replaced with someone inferior. However the big picture is our transfers are likely concluded if going by Wengers past history. Selling Ade allows us to strengthen the team but fixing others areas ie. DM. Its a team game and while Ade appears a loss the club and team will get better as a whole for his sale

  54. Jimbo

So you didnt notice all Eboues other good performances, goals, assists, and filling in at RB very well when Sagna was out. Did you also see at the start of the season when we lost Diaby, Walcott, and Cesc who filled in very well once again???

If you dont know what you are chatting about shut your mouth u fool.. dont talk down your own team.

  55. Jimbo,

Tired of brain-dead comments. 6 goals against Derby. You moron, Fernando Torres also scored 5 goals against Torres that same season you idiot. Plus a few Carling Cup goals against the likes of Preston….

  56. Gunners Today, Yeah he will struggle playing with Barry, Robinho, SWP and Ireland. Maybe they should buy Denilson, Song, Diaby and Eboue to supply Ade with there vision

  57. lagooner,

what will Eto’o do once he’s here? Score 30 goals a season? Or will he score 500?

  58. Danny-like I said before Eto’o is probably out of reach. Maybe you only read the first line of posts, but I said that with Ade gone, Arsenal will struggle to be higher than 4th without an A list striker. Maybe Arsene can’t find one. If so, we struggle.
Ade is an A list striker when motivated. He wasn’t motivated last season and Wenger was probably not banking him on being any more motivated this season. Hence the lack of fight on Wenger’s part to keep him. The real question is which Adebayor would show up next season. If it was the striker that harried and chased defenders two seasons ago, very few people would be comfortable with him leaving.

  59. Ade is an amazing player, 16 goals whil playing like crap according to all his haters. Yes he was injured and under performed, you haters were on his case from match day 1. Dont you think that affected him and the injuries??

Still he had a reasonable return, got us through to the Semi’s in champs league for only our 2nd time in our whole 120 year HISTORY!

    ADE HATERS SSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH

we wont get a better replacement, everyone is laughing at how we can lose such an amazing player you ignorant spoilt cun*s!

  60. Chrisgoona, Ole Gunner,

It is you two who are talking nonsense. We survived without Ade last season and now we have AA we will survive without the plonker this season. AA is what we need more of, Ade is what we need less of. Good riddance, today is good day to be a gooner

  61. Ole Gunner, how did Torres score five goals against Torres? Did he put his two year old son in goal? You need to wake up and smell the coffee. We should be celebrating, believe me

  62. Jimbo

Survived last season?? we were shit before he and Cesc came back into the team.. what team were you watching.

Ade is our most reliable striker, your argument is very flawed mate

  63. Why do sub normal trolls like the one calling himself jimbo come on to other teams’ blogs and try to stir us up? What infantile pleasure can they derive from it? Just ignore them folks and they’ll go back to their own teams’ blogs soon enough.

  64. I get it OleGunner. You find a tired line of argument and just pound away without actually reading the posts properly. IF Eto’o were to play for Arsenal, it would be hard to imagine him not scoring between 20-25 goals with the talent surrounding him. For the third time, I don’t think Ade leaving helps the team unless we bring in a top quality replacement. You obviously don’t have an answer for that, as you’re stuck back in 2007.

  65. 9 assists, 4 goals – don’t you be ripping Denilson also now Jimbo. You are really making yourself an idiot here now.

  66. DNFTT…

People must be laughing at our support, turning on our own players, and potentially forcing them out of the club.

It really is embarrassing being an Arsenal fan at times….

  67. lagooner

I dont think the question is exactly what Ade will show up…. because at the start of the season Ade was scoring goals and playing well. He got injured, came back into a team not playing well and he got all the stick.

    Is that fair?

RvP got a new contract… if his goal return begins to stutter will anyone be on his case… the answer is probably yes.. strikers need goals or critics and fans question them, but i doubt the critics will throw such hate towards RvP. With Ade tho there is an agenda against him from a section of fans that is maily down to the media.

  68. Jimbo

Your views are crap.. and you look like an idiot

  69. Matt & Ole Gunner

It is embarassing being an Arsenal fan, but i seriously doubt the credability of some of the people posting. Which Arsenal fan in their right mind would seriously try and put down their own team and push a player out! Dont make sense

  70. Wenger wont sign Eto’o, he’s gonna ask for aleast £110,000 a week, which we aint gonna pay, he’ll probably ask for more because of the hyp over the taxes!

I cant believe we actually have Arsenal fans that are trying to find a negative with scoring against newly promoted teams. Maybe Ade shouldnt score against Birmingham, burnely and wolves next season, so the fake fans can like him more. Maybe nobody on our team should score against these teams, maybe 0-0 will be the better result.

Everyone is complaining about his wages getting doubled, he shouldnt of even been on 40k in the first place. All the clubs interested want to offer him more than 80k and we’re still complaining about him getting paid 80k, I’m surprised he’s still here! If he stays after getting offered 170k people have to start to respect his loyalty.

  71. Good piece.

I do think its best for pretty much everyone if he goes. Bendtner managed to turn it round last season and Eboue seems to be over the worst of it which just leaves Ade bringing the negative atmosphere in to the stadium.

Replacements – I wonder about Huntelaar, is he really that much better than Bendtner, is Eto’o going to block off Eduardo, plus his wages will astronomical.

I’d sooner use the money to test Roma’s resolve to keep De Rossi and bolster our midfield.

  72. You fool Jimbo. Every striker in the league played Derby County. Jesus any 5 year old can explain that to you. Torres scored against Derby County too…..

Ade scored 6 in 8 Champions League finals including 2 in 2 quarter finals to take us to only our second 1/2 final ever. You’re nuts to say we did without him last season. Just 5 Premier League strikers scored more goals than Ade last season. If you want me to believe that he had no contribuion last year and was crap, it must mean Ade is world class. His worst is better than the best of most strikers in the league. You can’t have it both ways you plonker.

Andrey Arshavin has never been a prolific goal scorer. He’s not a main striker. He’s not going to outjump Shawcross or Wheater or Ferdinand.

If you were any more stupid we’d have to put a sticker on your forehead.

  73. Lets stop this if or when he goes he is going.I wouldnt be suprised is Arsene takes £20m + Richards who can play CH and back up right back.Which is fantastic business.Arsene strikes again

  74. Goal.com’s Arsenal team of the decade

    ————Seaman

    Lauren Campbell Toure Cole

    Ljungberg Vieira Fabregas Pires

    ——–Bergkamp Henry

  75. lagooner,

With Ade’s scoring record for Arsenal. 1 goal every 2 games, if he had a full season without injuries, playing 60 games he will score 24 or 25.

    Stop. Think. Digest.

  76. ChrisGoona-I agree with you to a point. But how anyone can say that his effort last season matched his previous seasons at the club is beyond belief.
Flynt McCullough was right on target. Without the fire, Adebayor wasn’t close to being the same player. The truth is that Adebayor started believing the hype and lost his edge as an Arsenal player.
Maybe with a season of supply from a creative and healthy midfield, he could bounce back this season. If Arsene lets him go, then it’s because Arsene thinks Ade no longer has the desire to bust his guts for Arsenal. I trust Wenger’s judgement on this than anyone here (even OleGunner).

  77. Ole Gunner, I am not a fool, you are a fool. You are a lovefool for Adebeyor. He is betraying you as we speak

  78. E9 Gunner

I think its a lose lose situation for Ade.

He stays and earns 80k with Arsenal and will get slated for it..

He goes and earns 170k with City and gets slated by our fans..

Either way there is a section of Arsenal fans which he cant win over. Another 30+ goals will shut them up i reckon.

  79. Jimbo

Your a fool mate, Supporters Support… what exactly are you doing?

  80. Matt, You;’re embarrased by our support? You should be more embarrased by our players. Our so called ‘best striker’ is leaving us for Manchester City. That my friend, is embarrasing. You guys living in dreamland is embarrasing. You are being made fools of yet you still support him. I support the club, not players who dont gives a toss

  81. lagooner

As you said the midfield behind him affected his return, plus his injuries, plus the distraction from the fans.

How can you seriously justify his performances without taking any of them factors into consideration. Dont you believe with a better functioning team this coming season Ades return could hit the 30 marker??

  82. Clichy is better than Cole. I’d have Sagna ahead of Lauren as well.

  83. Jimbo

The word embarassing sums you up

  84. Ole Gooner and ChrisGoona

If Wenger decides to sell Ade what is your problem? Are you questioning the best manager the club has ever had.He will have a replacement lined up dont worry.Remember Ades record before he joined us was poor.Arsene has said the way Ade behave last summer effected the club at the start of last season.I trust Arsene,

  85. Jimbo – are you Baxter Wall from LG?

Chris sadly, i doubt 30 goals would shut the doubters up…it didn’t the first time!

  86. Agree with todays ACLF. Adeb is a class forward whom we’ll have difficulty replacing. Chamakh and Pogrebynak are 2 options.

  87. Bergkamp the legend, Ole and Chris are fools. there supporting a player who had one good season for us and then tried to leave as soon as a bigger club came in. Then they think were fools for having some pride. Morons

  88. Ole Gunner-I think you need the sticker yourself.

As previous posters have pointed out, it’s not just the goals that matter. It doesn’t matter what way you look at it, Adebayor cruised through last season. If you couldn’t see it in his body language then thank god Wenger could.

For the final time, I don’t think Adebayor should be sold unless he can be replaced with the same or better quality lead striker. If Wenger can find one, great. If not, don’t sell.

  89. so it does seem arseblog sold the brochure to a shitty paper for a couple of quid which indirectly makes us look like a laughing stock.. at least he is adamant it all changes nothing..

  90. On a side note – how can anyone actually critisise a supporter for being a fan of an Arsenal player….how is that actually possible?

Ok, you might not like that player yourself, but to call someone a moron for liking an Arsenal player? Doesn’t make any sense to me at all.

  91. I don’t agree that without Ade we lose the aerial threat.

Personally I think Bendtner is better in the air especially against tall defenders he wins the ball more from long balls than Ade does.

I think that Super Nic will be a far better all round player than Ade is. Better on the ground, can take people on, his finish will improve and he is a monster.

The fact that he did not have a good time in front of goal yet still refuses to go missing in games and keep trying speaks volumes about the lad.

  92. Chrisgooner,

I would be happy for Adebayor to shut me up by scoring 30 goals and harrying defenders like he used to. The point is that Wenger clearly isn’t confident that Adebayor is fully committed to the cause. Otherwise, selling him would be out of the question based on talent and goals alone.

  93. Queen of sub, not a player who tried to jump ship as soon as he could. How canyou not see how he alienated himself?

By the way is that you in that picture? Very nice

  94. Bergkamp the legend,

We’ll see if Wenger sells. I trust Wenger. I’m a bit of a Wenger-worshipper actually.

However I very strongly think Ade should not be sold.

  95. drew10

‘I think that Super Nic will be a far better all round player than Ade is. Better on the ground, can take people on, his finish will improve and he is a monster.’

Better on the ground? Can take people on? Are we talking about the same Nik Bendtner?

  96. YW good balance piece

Any player especially strikers needs to be hungry to do well. If Ade can only get hungry with wages potentially paid by Mancity then he should go. I have said before at this point in time, no one else can lead the line single handedly in a 4 5 1 formation in the Arsenal squad. In time to come may be Bendtner but not from last season’s evidence although Bendtner I think has won more headers from high balls from our midfield and backfours. But going from the interview in football focus , he has lost that desire to fight for the Arsenal and he thinks he has lost sections of the fans. While some fans can take some blame , Ade essentailly lost their support from the way he agitated for his pay rise before last season. (he lost me then as his defender). He is a pay day player, working for the salary mostly. Can we blame him given his background ? probably not but fans are humanbeings just like Ade. Loyalty begets loyalty, it is the emotions. Logically we should keep him , we will be weaker without him but we will only benefit from his presence in the team, if he plays as hungrily as he did in the season he scored 30 odd goals. If not , we cash in and try Bendtner or some one else who is hungry like Simpson who will put in 110% every time he puts in the red and white.

We will be weaker in attack without him but we will still be stronger than last season as we have Ross and Dudu plus Arshavin for the full season.(on my knees praying). So I am still optimistic.

    We are the Arsenal!!!!

  97. drew 10,

Bendtner will be a better striker than Ade when? Kicking the can down the road again are we? Let’s sell Fabregas too. Wilshere will be a better player down the line. Sell Clichy. Gibbs will be better down the line.

  98. Ole gunner, well he’s leaving for money so it doesnt matter what you think because he dont give a shit about the thirty thousand fans who stay and sing his name every week. Stop being a damn fool man, grow some balls and wake up to yourself

  99. Jimbo – Ade wanted wages in keeping with his place as lead striker at the club and got them. He turned down bigger wages on offer from other clubs.

Is your objection to him based on what he was paid?

I can see how it is possible some view him as alienating himself and why some may not like him. Thats a question of taste as much as anything….but to call an Arsenal fan a moron for liking an Arsenal player which is what you did…thats bizarre. Really strange behaviour from an Arsenal fan.

  100. @QOS

    Clichy rans cole close.

But clichy has won nothing – YET

  101. Jimbo,

Your words are what set you out as a moron.

You say Ade tried to leave as a strike against him. Why did he stay then? Can you explain that bit?

  102. Quieen of sub, check the posts, Ole Gunner and Chris Goona starting abusing me personally fo no reason. Like alot of fans they cant handle that everything is not rosy so they blame other fans who have supported the club through thick and thin. Unbelievable

  103. By: The TROOF on July 14, 2009
    at 10:04 am

” I can safely say I’m ashamed to be an arsenal fan”

I second that. ive been a fan since 89 and ive never disliked my fellow ’so called supporters’ than i do now.

The funny thing is i never meet these people face to face its always some random geez online spouting their stupid shit

  104. True…I was basing it more on a preference in terms of style of play than trophies won.

By the time he’s done at Arsenal, i’m confident that Clichy will have won more!

  105. He hasn’t left. End of.

If he leaves we slate him. As he still has the badge on we support him.

Or he has left and I don’t know? Are we talking about a CURRENT Arsenal player?

  106. Ole gunner, are you a season ticket holder. I just want to know because you obviously didnt watch him last season. He was taking the piss mate, believe me

  107. Come on guys, Nic is easily better on the floor and yes he can take people on I don’t remember the last time Ade got the ball down and ran at someone. He always hangs out on the left wing like he is Henry but then cuts inside goes across the area and loses the ball.

I think Nic will show everyone this season that he is a great player and will really push to be the starter. I have watched him since he was a pony-tailed boy in the reserves and always pinned him as a top striker.

By mid-season you will all agree, mark my words!

  108. @QOS

so too Sagna, and we will Have a bigger Invincible s than the Invincible s them selves.

Strange that only Cesc breaks into that team? He has shut Gilberto & Edu out…

Was that the greatest Arsenal team ever?

  109. Jimbo, I don’t really go in for the abuse angle myself unless severely provoked – i think its better to debate the facts.

I agree with pretty much nothing you’ve said but will say so in a non abusive manner.

What i still don’t understand is how an Arsenal fan liking an Arsenal player makes them moronic – at its most distilled level, you can see the concern i would have with that, can’t you?

  110. okay i’m gonna try this… FUCK OFF JIMBO AND THE LIKES.. damn where the fuck is Frank when you need him??

  111. ‘I agree with pretty much nothing you’ve said’

    Thats funny

  112. Steve, its a great great side that’s for sure. I think this current side could get there.

Ceertainly its hard to look past the invincibles as the greatest ever in terms of acheivement.

I still feel that this side could continue and grow into a side that can hold itself up there….For a few injuries and a few shocking referees decisions in 2007/08 , a lot of this squad would and should have had a PL medal to their name.

  113. I think we are all missing the main issue and it is one only one of us can answer!

QOS please answer the question that was posed earlier, is that you in the photo?

  114. Queen of sub, Would you like your Husband / Partner as much if you new he was cheating on you?

I’m not saying that people shouldn’t support Ade, I’m just questioning how anyone could love and adore him (like Ole and chris do) after him openly flirting with Milan is beyond me. He was never going to be the legend I hoped after that moment. I can only speak personally but I only want players who care about the club. I’d rather lose with players trying. Last season Ade didnt try I dont care what anyone says, I was there and saw it with my own eyes

  115. I wasn’t trying to be funny Jimbo…I genuinely don’t agree that Ade had a poor season or that he wasn’t trying last year.

I think he changed his game a bit…sometimes it worked sometimes it didn’t….i don’t think he had as good creative supply last year….I think he struggled with injury last year and all of those factors mitigate against his so called poor year.

He can improve, yes. But so can lots of our players. 16 goals including an exceptional return in the CL is not to be sniffed at. There is no guarantee that a new signing would get that many.

  116. steveArsenaLsteve

    “He hasn’t left. End of.

If he leaves we slate him. As he still has the badge on we support him.

Or he has left and I don’t know? Are we talking about a CURRENT Arsenal player?”

Just a few fake fans want Ade to leave.

    @Jimbo

What kinda of fan are you, you dislike Adebayor and Bendtner. Surely not a Arsenal fan. Maybe a Wolf in Sheeps clothing (spud)?

  117. I would like to ask would The Emirates welcome Vieria back in a Spuds shirt?

  118. I still feel that this side could continue and grow into a side that can hold itself up there….For a few injuries and a few shocking referees decisions in 2007/08 , a lot of this squad would and should have had a PL medal to their name.

    Amen.

As long as ADE is an Arsenal Player, he is the Best Striker Ever. Better than Pele himself!!!!! Ade is God!!!

    Thats our work. We support.

In a few seasons Bendtner will come to become as good as Ade. maybe even better. But as of now, Ade is our number one Striker.

    live with it.

  119. It would be a nice time to show we have more class than those pricks!

  120. people have always had a dislike for one player thats just how it is.

i used to really hate flamini he had just come in when vieira and edu had gone, he had good work rate but i felt he didn’t fit in.

of course as a team we were changing, he did have a good season very much like adebayor but still went, so who cares, yes people would argue that ade stayed but last season he was woeful.

and he scored 10 goals in the league, 3 in one match early against blackburn, so 7 in the rest

his goal rate is not worth mentioning this season.

but i hope he stays because i know wenger wouldn’t get a replacement in, so give him another season to knuckle down.

  121. E9 Gunner, brilliant E9 Gunner, the typical response from the mindless Arsenal flock that will disappear when it suits them. I suppose Arseblooger, Ian Wright, Merson, Mclintock, Adams are all spuds as well? Dont be mug all your life

  122. They love and adore him because they love and adore all Arsenal players.

Its not a relationship based on logic..if that was the case we’d all support the most successful team or the most local team…

Again by all means have your opinion on Ade…if your relationship is more about needing your love to be returned to you….but I think Arsenal and by extension other Arsenal fans are lucky to have fans that would love Arsenal players without conditions. Don’t you?

  123. you guys enough with the personal insults. You really don’t need insults to make your point! unless of course if making a point isn’t what you’re after…

  124. i support steve but i don’t live in what world you live where everythings all good and nobody can do wrong.

if we all felt that way we wouldn’t blog would we?

  125. Quuen of Sub, in you’re messed up robotic world, is anyone ever allowed to question anything? O rdoes that result in termination? Wre on a Arsenal blog, if we cant discuss these issues here where can we? Seriously I want to know, I do not want to be terminated. ps, you’re hot.

  126. Did those idiots confuse ACLF with LeGrove?

    me thinks so.

Wrong turn mate. The SHIT HOLE you need is down that turn mate…

  127. yeah lucky very lucky!!

  128. QOS, you point is well made but surely the love needs to go both ways.

Listening to the interview with RVP warmed my heart when he spoke of his love for Arsenal and the fans. We want to feel that the players will care if they win or lose and want to win for the club not just for them but for all of us as well.

A lot of fans feel Ade is not playing for the club but for himself. We never felt that way about Henry, he always felt like he loved us.

  129. Jimbo

Its is very hilarious trying to imagine you supporting this club through “thick n thin” dont you think?

Your support is wavering on the borederline of that of a SPUD

  130. chrisgoona, you’re a yes man, go and say yes to something, go on, run along

  131. “I would like to ask would The Emirates welcome Vieria back in a Spuds shirt?”.

Yap. After we wallop them 4 – 0. We sang Pires’ song after we took them to the slaughter…

  132. I think you are confusing “questioning” with “criticising” Jimbo.

A question implies that you don’t already think you know the answer.

If you feel his workrate was not good then fair enough. Make the point and justify it. It shouldn’t be too hard…what was his strike rate like? Did he cover less ground? The point can be made on this Arsenal blog without getting a negative reaction.

However, if you can’t overlook that and still support him then it doesn’t seem right for you to call those that can, moronic.

  133. drew10

That is a good point, but all Ade’s comments have been about how he wants to achieve things with Arsenal, work for the team, and score goals.. Thats what he has been doing. Is it his fault he is questionned on other matters regarding politics and financial factors in Africa. The media have used it against him as it sells to the average fan that have chosen to believe that crap.

No offense to Henry, but if Henry’s career had just started now at Arsenal, he would have no chance winning over the fans. The Henry’s, Bergkamps, and Pires’s n Vieria’s have given us so many good moments and footballing treasures that many supporters can’t come to realise that this next crop needs the support and patience just like our previous legends got from the fans.

  134. http://bitterandblue.blogspot.com/2009/07/bid-for-adebayor-reported.html

other fans must think we are a complete joke when it comes to suppport. they already think we have the worst supporters at home.

  135. The Ade-haters have truly shown their hand. Such an amazing show of loyalty instead of ignorance, hatred and bigotry!

Last time I checked Ade was still an Arsenal player. Fans expect loyalty yet show such disrespect and blatant hatred.

Further proof – Arsenal fans are just as bigoted as the vast majority of English fans Poor supporters do not deserve a great team. End of story.

  136. I am not entirely sure why you think Jimbo is a spud because he thinks selling Ade is a good thing?

The facts are we will have made a massive profit on a player that for all his plus points, looked decidedly like he didnt care last season. Whether this is through injury or not giving a shit can be answered by him.

We pay to watch the team every week and it is annoying when somebody appears to be taking the cash and not trying.

Whilst there is speculation about his future we can debate the pro’s and con’s if he is still wearing an Arsenal shirt at the start of next season we should all get behind him.

What I will agree on is that I will never boo a player wearing our shirt!!

  137. Jimbo

And are you a paper fan??? you support is shit mate, fuck off why dont ya

  138. It is better that he stays cos he is proven in PL. His return of 16 goals is lower than previous season but is still decent. Remember is goal against Roma? Just that you are not sure which Adebayor will turn up. The grouse that I have about Arsenal’s strikers is that they don’t seem to be mobile and available for passes.

  139. I can’t find too many examples of where Jimbo is not being a genuine Arsenal supporter. I don’t agree with much of what he says either, but what exactly has he written to make you think he’s a SPUD? I think he’s a fan that justs wants the players to put the effort in.

  140. shotta-gunna, not really end of story though is it? What you just said was stupid, so the debate must continue

  141. Jimbo

All these say one thing: Arseblooger, Ian Wright, Merson, Mclintock, Adams

This guy says one thing: Wenger

I believe in Wenger, it seems you believe in the former. The facts are in front of you on the web/stats that Ade is a good player, you must be deluded.

  142. A lot of fans feel Ade is not playing for the club but for himself. We never felt that way about Henry, he always felt like he loved us.

The one who loved you is now wearing a Barca shirt? Even Henry had his moments.

Ade is being picked as the scape goat in a season that was not upto standard. Yap come on pick up on him push him out… who is next> Dennilson is crap? Then who else? Wenger must go??? Ohhh then what? we love Manchester!!!

  143. drew10

Ok so you do understand that the booing etc has had an affect on Ade’s performances. Nobody on this blogg can deny that, for what ever reason IF Ade leaves. The Jimbo fans and other morons are the ones to partly blame next season when we are 1 quality striker down.

That is not going to happen though, because the same idiotic fans who drove Ade out will be slagging the team off once again and our GREAT manager because Ade left.

    Fuc*in IDIOTIC

  144. ChrisGoona, run along chris, go and say yes to everyone, go on.

  145. henry arrived in 1999 and we didn’t win the league for a further 3 years thierry was fine then.

we already had the spine of the team then which i think is only getting sorted now.

  146. lagooner

You can stick up for your bum chum buddy if you choose to.. I will stick up for the players that play for my team. Its what a supporter does, Ade is not guilty of anything so why should i sit here and listen to a bunch of spoilt brats chat shit about 1 of Arsenals players.

  147. Arsene is clearly happy for Adebayor to go. This will free up some money for inward transfers but I don’t believe this is the major reason. I believe he wants to change the way we play, abandoning the dependence on a big front man and playing like Spain with small creative players interchanging positions at speed. This is how we played at the very end of last season(when as I recall Ade was dropped); if Bendtner moves up he will not play as a target man but more in th manner of Henry – playing wide much of the time just as he did at the end of last season. I think Chamakh is a similar mobile, skilful player who can pass well and score goals. Arshavin and Eduardo will be key elements in this system. Don’t know who the midfield man will be but I still hope we bring in Hangeland which may happen if Sylvestre and Senderos move on.

  148. Jimbo

That is a very insightful comment… you dont seem to be able to respond to any of my comments i made. What is wrong?

  149. i posted this else where

Not all gooners want him gone – It seems a lot of fans have their own vendetta against him. but fact is he scored 1 every 2 games for us,leads the line well on his own, can link play and bring in others, and scores important goals. even though his goal scoring record is comparable to torres and better than the likes of rooney berbatov, defoe, keane (check the stats if you dont believe me)some of our shameful idiotic, jump on the bandwagon, media loving supporters want him gone. go figure – even utd fans didnt give ronaldo this much stick when he got their hero rooney sent off and flirted with madrid or chelsea fans didnt say nothing to drogba for wanting to go to mouriniho when scolari was in charge!!
    shameful really!!

but seriously i dont think ronaldo, drogba or fat frank got this much stick and all have held their clubs to ransom in one way or other.

How come the hatred is so deep towards Ade?

  150. you don’t know that ade isn’t guilty of anything chris. do you know the man?

  151. ChrisGoona I don’t see your point? Surely the booing came as a result of his poor efforts.

It is NOT okay to boo anybody in an Arsenal shirt and it is obviously counter-productive but to say the booing started the Ade played rubbish is nonsense.

Nobody would have been booing him had he been giving the effort that we know he can produce, but to the outsider it did seem like he had pushed for a major pay rise then didn’t give the effort to back it up.

To be honest if he stays I will back him all the way but if he leaves I wont shed a tear!

  152. Ed9Gooner, So if Wenger decides to sell him does that make all the others and Jimbo right after all then?

  153. Chris you are funny, you have done nothing but attack me personally on here but as soon as its turned around you cant take it, silly little boy. Run along now, I need you to deposit some money in the TSB for me, the bank that likes to say Yes.

  154. geeGunner

The list of CU*Ts you mentioned held their clubs to ransom and still do (look at Terry).. but their fans still show them the respect and more respect and support than Ade has got… Ade is by no way anywhere near that level and there is nothing to prove Ade is here for the money. He should have left last summer like everyones favorite user Flamini if he wanted more money.

  155. Jimbo

Ok you have proved you are a muppet, you run along now you Spud

  156. and Jimbo

a YES man picks up the paper and agrees with everything he sees without thinking logically.

    Remind you of anyone?

  157. yeah well more the fool chelsea fans are, anyway chelsea fans don’t have opinions, they are all a clone of each other dumb cunts…

  158. also Jimbo

You aint funny, your a shit supporter who cant seem to back anything up you post. Are you a troll perhaps mate?

  159. or Jimbo

Do you work for a media outlet?

  160. Chris, why are you still here, that money is not going to deposit itself

  161. Jimbo

I aint going nowhere mate, i always comment on ACLF… so are you a troll mate or do you work for a paper or sumin? Your intentions are very questionnable…

  162. ChrisGoona

All this time and you had me fooled into thinking you were relatively reasonable compared with OleGunner.

You must have been waxing OleGunner’s asshair all of last summer if you think that Adebayor acted appropriately. His behaviour was at best disappointing, and at worst shocking.

I’m a huge Arsenal fan but not dumb or blind. The vast majority of players I’m proud to support. Nearly all of them work hard for the team and don’t destabilize the club during the off-season. But don’t feel like you need to have that argument with me. Wenger said exactly the same thing about Adebayor’s behavior last summer.

I’m still very excited about this season. If the 2007-2008 Ade came back, we would win the title. As an Arsenal fan, I would be thrilled if he came back all fired up and helped bring us the title this season. Unfortunately, recent evidence points against that happening. Whatever happens, I still have a feeling Arsene is going to roll the dice on a high-profile signing before the summer is over.

  163. I wish Arsenal.com would give out a statement that Ade aint going no where so that all these FUCKERS can shut up.

Ade is an out let for the team. His hold up play is second to none.

Even Rio has commented that he is a handful to play against. When Cesc came back from Injury, Ade’s supply improved, and the goals started coming in before his injury struck.

  164. Thats what i cant understand ChrisGoona its gone beyond football if you ask me. I think the fans dont like the dances he does cause it takes confidence to bust a move in front of 60,000 people and that confiedence can be mistaken as arrogance nd no-one like an arrogant so and so, so the fans think he is arrogant and coupled with asking for more money they have added 1+1 (arrogance and greedy = twat) i think thats the maths these pricks are using.

for the record there are a few arsenal player ive not liked but ive never booed or slag of my own team players esp to other fans. As long as they represent so do we

  165. “All these say one thing:…. Ian Wright, Merson, Mclintock, Adams”

The moaners proof. All these men are Arsenal legends – as players. There is no evidence that any of them have the knowledge, managerial talent and coaching ability of Arsene Wenger.

There is no reason why what they say is any more valid than that said by any other pundit.

    Great players, ordinary pundits.

  166. Great players, ordinary pundits, appalling managers!

  167. @Jimbo and CG

Chillax you two. We support the same team at the end of the day.

Lets wait and see if he goes. If he does, his loss. If he doesn’t our gain.

Cesc has also been linked to everyone – don’t you think that too destabilizes the club. Noticed that as we bitch around preseason training is going on?

Saturday we see the first Arsenal match after like 1000 million years!!! i just cant wait!!!

Oh and Is all the squad back now? Cesc, Theo, Gibbs(Legendary…)

  168. Chrisgoona, are you saying that I’m a journalist because I think Adebeyor is a player Arsenal could do without? Are you insane?

  169. lagooner

“waxing is asshair??” go suck out on Jimbo’s ass you fag.

If Wenger decides its best for Ade to leave, then so be it. Did you perhaps hear that Wenger said the fans are disupting the team and certain players performances? You are a very selective listener arent you?

  170. Oneofus, but they still love the club yet question certain players motives, its normal behaviour when you’re not a Terminator T-1OOO liquid metal killing machine

  171. Ok ok i will ignore them…

I aint here to fight, i just cant stand the Ade haters who have suddenly all appeared out of nowhere to take a little dig.

They are pothetic excuses for supporters

  172. Oh, and give up on your wet dream fantasy of “..rolling the dice on a high profile transfer..” That is what you actually want isn’t it?

There is a school of thought out there that reckons if Ade goes, Arsene will spend ‘big’. Fantasy football managers, all. Good bragging rights with their chav chums.

  173. geeGunner

well said it reminds me of “the orks are coming the orks are coming..meh.. its just the trolls”

  174. drew10

We shouldnt really be concerned about the profit at the moment. I think if he is sold we would miss his goals, he is a proven EPL goal scorer. Without him i would be worried if we can challenge for the title or even top four. Wenger will probably see Bendtner as a replacment.

    lagooner

Jimbo doesnt want to give him the chance to put the effort in, he wants him gone. How can we expect are players to be loyal, and they can see on blogs or newspapers (Adebayore Brochure) how un-loyal their supposedly fans are. Even players that aint even getting any stick (i.e Cesc) probably cant believe it.

  175. Ade or no Ade i think we are in with a decent shout for the title next season. We have by far the best attacking players.

  176. You know who they are Chris. They just are not worth it.

  177. steveArsenal, Cesc has never lifted his skirt in the disrespectfull way Ade did after ONE seaon. He took the piss so has felt the fans rath, thats football. He’ll never be a legend for any club and thats his choice, but he has to take the rough with the smooth. By the way, you do know we are talking about a Man City player now dont you? Anyone who thinks it wont is in need of psychiatric help

  178. Consolbob

I know… they actually think Wenger will go out and flog 30m on an Etoo and pay someone 150k a week to lounge about more than they think Ade has done!

  179. Consolbob,

May I ask you a question sir?

If Ade is to go – two things need to happen:

    1. Ade must want to go.
    2. Arsene / the club must be happy and willing to let him go.

If the club sells Ade, given that Arsene will have the last word in the matter – will you support that decision?

  180. By: Consolsbob on July 14, 2009
    at 11:56 am

I was thinking how does someone like mourinhio who was an interpreter for bobby robson achieve more in the game as a manager than the legend that was bryan’ captain marvel’ robson?

peter reid, tony adams, paul merson – the list of failed english managers makes me conclude that their actual knowledge of the game is very limited and the fact england have not won aworld cup since 1966,no english manager has ever won the prem and 1 english anagerhas won the FA cup in 20 yrs is proof that english coaching methods are well behind the rest europe/world

  181. Chrisgooner,

Boy, it’s easy to wind you up. You are wound a little too tight. You must have a golf ball stuck up you. Maybe OleGunner can suck it out.

Back to the issue at hand. I also get mad when I hear fans booing the players. I would never do it. However on a DISCUSSION forum where people are expected to have different views on players and club decisions, it’s entirely fair to say whether you think a player has acted in the right way towards the club or hasn’t appeared to put in the same effort on behalf of the club.

The problem with fans like you is that you are entirely unforgiving of other opinions. You’re like the Dick Cheney of Arsenal fans, always trying to label someone Anti-Arsenal if they don’t subscribe to your views.

I would rather Adebayor stay as it’s tough to get a top class replacement, but I think Wenger knows better and will sell him. Of course, if he does, you’ll probably say that Wenger’s anti-Arsenal….

  182. Consolbob

It gets me in stitches when they claim to be a “true” supporter

Do you think AA will be played behind the striker eventually? I think come start of the season he will be on the wing again along with Theo, Nasri, and probably Vela and Eboue as backup. I cant see Nasri staying in CM. I think wenger will go with Song, his performances at the end of the season were very good against all the big teams.

  183. I’m looking forward to seeing Barazite make a push for a place in the first team squad during preseason. For an 18-year-old, now 19, he played a lot of games for last year, and he’ll have learned a great deal. Any improvements should be easy to spot now, when he’s nice and fresh, and has players around him who are more attuned to his game.

It’s not just Barazite of course. We have to work out the short-term future of whole host of young players. Maybe, amongst all this potential, there’s a big story waiting to happen this summer – a youngster staking his claim from nowhere.

  184. lagooner

You think you have wound me up.. i am in stitches laughing at ya matey. I aint got the time and day to read your last post. You aint a supporter, no matter what excuse you try to give for yourself will never hide that.

  185. Jimbo and lagooner,

I called you idiots because you were and are making idiotic arguments about a player, and saying deluded things like just sell Ade, dash down to Tesco and pick up an A-listed striker. Goals against Derby don’t count. A striker who scores 1 goal every 2 games is not good enough for Arsenal

That’s moronic stuff and I’m calling you on it.

  186. What a load of bollocks all this shite is about Ade didnt care last season! Hang on he scored 16 goals in 35 games. and had 9 assists. not bad for someone who didnt give a shit.

I think people are just assuming he didnt give a shit coz he nearly went to Milan. Obviously it isnt nice when a player contemplates leaving.

I think us fans need to change and sever our emotional ties to players and except that they come and go.

  187. Consolsbob

I don’t care if he signs a big-name or not. I would rather he unearths another Anelka at a fraction of the price.

Let me guess, you were probably saying the same thing when people were predicting that he might just spend the extra money to buy Arshavin. I’m sure you accused them of being Fantasy Football dreamers too………

  188. @CG

Pre season is when Arsene shapes his team of the season. Lets see what comes out of the pre-season hat…

  189. for Derby

  190. RvP contemplated his career for months… I wonder if lagooner and Jimbo reckon we should flog them too??

    What muppets

  191. If the club sells Ade, given that Arsene will have the last word in the matter – will you support that decision?

well i didnt want viera to be sold but im still here, i didnt want anelka gone but im still here and i didnt want henry gone but im still here. Fact is the person with more insight about the team and players makes the decision we live with.

Person with most insight – Pyles the cunt Palmer

  192. hello

  193. steveArsenaLsteve

very true, pre-season is very interesting and does sort of give us an indication on who will get a starting place

I hope Diaby takes his chance this season.. if not Song and Denilson look set to battle it out for that CM spot if someone aint brought in to satisfy the doomers.

Either way the competition will keep them on their toes, 3 players + Ramsey + Nasri possibly contending for 1 spot

  194. the pundits could be right about the last 4 years

    hopefully not next season.

there is no point calling arsenal legends names when they have been correct.

  195. OleGunner….now listen very carefully and I will write this extra slowly for you….I don’t think we should sell Ade unless we can bring an A-list replacement, which we probably can’t. Which means (drum roll) I’m in favor of keeping Ade.

Anyone who reads this thread can tell that you’re either deliberately misreading my posts or too dense to know the difference.

  196. In a couple of days Ade will be standing holding up his new Sky blue shirt, with a big grin on his face, he might even do a little dance. We’ll carry on the chat then maybe

  197. And you’ll still be stupid even then Jimbo. Mr. Goals against Derby don’t count.

  198. Chrisgooner,

Maybe you should compare what Arsene said about Van Persie recently against what he said about Adebayor’s antics last summer.

I was more than prepared to root for Adebayor even after last summer, until he confirmed my (and it seems Wenger’s) fears about his attitude this season.

  199. Dukegoonem, being emotionally involved with Arsenal is not something a supporter can just switch off.

You might as well tell me to stop feeling emotional about my mother!

  200. Jimbo nobody is saying Ade will stay or go…. the point is he is going because he was driven out. If you cant accept that you are just in denial. He has done nothing wrong.

lagooner… so you reckon Wenger will sell Ade becuase hes very disruptive … (is he disruptive when he scored that over head kick to get us into the semis?) … this coming from someone who believe Etoo could be on his way in!!..

haha go play championship manager little boy

  201. Ole gunner, you’re a lovefool for adebeyor

  202. did that troll play a drum roll?

  203. Chris he was not driven out, he was always just waiting for his car to arrive. If you cant except that then you are in denial

  204. lagooner,

It’s not your position that I quibble with it’s the nonsense you’re saying. Wenger might save himself £80K a week, bring in another A-list striker who will earn what? £0k a week?

Your comment was obviously that somehow selling Ade would see us save on £80k a week. In the next comment you mention getting Eto’o who’s already on £110k a week and won’t move for less.

That argument was stupid. I don’t care if you’re arguing that Ade should stay or not.

You’re part of a problem of mass delusion I see with Arsenal fans and I’m calling you on it. Boo hoo if you don’t like it.

  205. lagooner

Confirm to who exactly? Your job is to support not to dictate who deserves to play for the Arsenal, last time i checked Wenger was manager… Ade started the season well, not untill fans like you got on his back he was fine and scoring.

If you see it as Ade using it as an excuse to leave and thats why his performances dropped. Why on earth would he even bother trying to score a bycycle kick i wonder if he didnt give a shit? Why would Wenger continue to slam the fans and confront sharehlders and question their support?

Are you saying Wenger has helped make all this situation up too?

  206. drew10

“E9Gooner, So if Wenger decides to sell him does that make all the others and Jimbo right after all then?”

If Wenger decides to sell Adebayor, its because he wants to cash in or Adebayor wants to leaves. Wenger sold Henry, doesnt mean he didnt rate him. Wenger rates Adebayor and we all know this, because Wenger would of sold him last summer instead of giving him a pay rise.

The team wont benefit from selling Ade, when the problem with the team is in defensive areas, maybe along the back four and midfield. We’re probably one of the teams in the world with alot of attacking options, but we dont have the same amount of options defensively.

  207. Ole Gunner, I can imagine you wearing a blonde wig and singing that song Lovefool by the Cardigans to Adebeyor, and him just driving off.

Ole gunner you are a lovefool for Adebeyor

  208. No Jimbo you and your fellow members of an irrational mob of morons are making a business of trying to drive Arsenal players out for NO REASON.

  209. Chris, Driven out? He was talking up a move when he had just had his best season with us and his song reverberated around the ground every game!

Now he is feeling the backlash of that! He needs to either go or really turn in a proper shift next season.

  210. ChrisGooner

Ok-obviously I need to bring the level of writing down to the 90 IQ level.

What I said was that Eto’o is the type of striker we need if Adebayor leaves. Probably 3-4 times I’ve said that I don’t think we can afford him.

The cold facts are that without Adebayor or an adequate replacement we’ll be hard pressed to win the title.Which is why, for the 10th time, I think Ade should stay.

I want what is best for Arsenal. If I was a troll like Kitchen Sink suggests, I would be saying sell Ade now.

  211. Jimbo,

At least I have a brain, support the club, and care about its success. You’re the one who puts his own piffing ego before team success.

  212. Ole Gunner, you are a lovefool for Adebeyor

  213. lagooner,

You’re an idiot. People here are very intelligent, very aarticulate folks. This isn’t a forum of numpties chiming the chorus from the sunday pundits.

You’re stupid enough to claim that selling Ade and brininging in an “A-list striker” will miraculously save us £80k a week.

On it’s own face, on its own logic your comment was stupid and deluded.

  214. It is interesting that measured arguments are ignored but slagging each other off keeps the pages turning eh?

  215. Ole Gunner

I agree, its a shame fans cant see the situation for what it really is. Ade would have went last summer if he is as money driven as they say he is. The fact of the matter is he stayed, every player gets approaches from other clubs. .. Cesc, RvP… if they stay we should continue to adore them. They represent our club and they fighting for our cause.

What exactly is different about Ade that is so different about Cesc…. the only difference i can note is that the fans treat Cesc very well no matter what. But with Ade despite his 60 or so goals in 2 full seasons he is still lazy and money orientated because others are interested in him?

Cesc performances were alot lower than the previous season… does anyone think he could have at one point contemplated leaving?

I doubt he would admit to it, but everyone goes throughs stages where they look at their options. Like RvP admitted. I think especially after the booing of Eboue and groaning at other players (bendtner) alot of our players would have considered their options.

    Dont you think lagooner

  216. Ole Gunner I think you need to put yur glasses on

  217. Jimbo,

In 2 years brain-transplants will be available on NHS…final hope for you.

  218. Jimbo

So you slate all those that stick up for Adebayor? Your the fool for believing everything you read YES MAN.

JIMBO IS THE TYPICAL YES MAN – FACT

go pick up the Sun you mug

  219. Can’t stay onside, can’t go past players, has a first touch worse than wiltord’s used to be. Yeah he’s not awful, but he isn’t world class, he takes 5 chances to score 1.

If he goes, great, 20million pound profit not bad, wenger will bring in someone better.

Couldn’t care less about him wanting to move to Milan last time, just disgusted with the effort he put in this season.

Sick of watching a bumbling oaf who fucks up continuously, but if he stays and puts in the effort, learns to stay onside and puts chances away, also good.

  220. JIMBO = YES MAN

  221. drew 10,

I appreciate measured comments. I will debate anybody,…

But some people you can’t have a debate with. How do you debate with morons who think scoring 6 goals against Derby proves you’re a bad striker? What do I say next that would be measured?

  222. Ole Gunner, In 120 years your existing power cell will expire you big robot !!!!

  223. Guys,

Jimbo has a distinguished history of trolling Arsenal blogs. He started at Gunnerblog, then hopped to LG and has now landed here to educate us.

    As Consols said DNFTFT.

  224. Adam

5 chances to score 1 when he has near enough the same strike ration as Torres… Not bad ehh

Nobody can care less about that view.. trust me keep your mouth closed, save you the embarassment like Jimbo

  225. ChrisGoona the main difference between Cesc and Ade is that Cesc continually comes out and nails his colours to our mast.

Ade has yet to do so and whilst I would love him to come out and say how much he loved the club and would never leave his silence speaks volumes.

  226. JIMBO = TROLL/YES MAN

  227. chris, chris, chris, you poor lost soul. Run along now, its time to say yes

  228. AdI don’t think I’d say Ade was driven out if he goes now. He clearly considered leaving last summer way before anyone made his ‘brochure’

  229. Adam,

The average striker needs 6 chances to score 1. Statistical fact.

If Ade needs 5 to score 1 he’s better than average.

He scores 1 goal every 2 games. Including last season.

He scored 6 goals in 8 games to take us into the CL semi finals for only the 2nd time ever. Even last season.

He is not a shit striker. Of our 6 strikers he has the best scoring record. It is thus mad, that you think he should be the first to go.

  230. I wanted a measured argument, and I confess to falling into the slime with Ole Gunner and ChrisGooner.

You can just see by Ole Gunner’s comment above that he doesn’t care to read anything which doesn’t agree with his worldview. However, I’ll cut out the personal stuff and focus on the football discussion.

To summarize what I’ve said consistently all along which some posters can’t seem to grasp

    1) Arsene will obviously have more spending power if he sells Adebayor

    2) To replace an A list striker, even an unmotivated one, you need to pay serious money for a replacement which might be out of reach.

    3) Because of financial constraints I think it’s best not to sell Adebayor because an A list striker is out of reach. Wenger seems to be quite ready to sell, though, so maybe he has more insight than the rest of us about the likelihood of Adebayor performign at his best next season.

    4) However, I do think that Wenger might just spend more money than we anticipate if he thinks we are one piece away from having a title and champions league winning team.

    5) I still think we will do well next season, but we will not win the title if we sell Ade and don’t replace him adequately.

This is what I’ve been saying all along, but OleGunner and ChrisGooner would rather distort in order to throw their tired insults.

  231. drew10

Ade refused to get involved in any summer transfer talk .. with the amount of idiots around I can see why

*His interview with the BBC on Africa was taking out of context…

*He was flattered from interest from Milan but said he was happy at Arsenal… taking out of context once again…

*Last summer rejected deals elsewhere to stay and play for Arsenal earning less.. perceived as greedy???!!!!

Maybe this is why he chooses to shut up?

  232. drew10,

Ade has repeatedly said he did not want to leave the club. Including in the most infamous BBC interview.

What you are saying is not true. That’s what frustrates us. It is not true.

Even last Summer Ade said he did not want to leave. And he did not leave.

If anything you can find more made-up or real quotes of Cesc gushing about Barcelona, and how great it would be to play for them, and saying the same about Milan, saying the same about Real Madrid, than you can find actual quotes from Ade that he wanted to leave Arsenal. I challenge you to find any Ade quote in which he said he was less than proud and happy to play for us.

  233. JIMBO = TROLL/YES MAN

I will keep posting it, you know you like it.. keep up the good work. Your articulated comments are great and hilarious!

  234. Ole Gunner he has the best scoring record among our 6 strikers but to be honest if you put up his international goal record against Eduardo, Ade’s is simply not in the same league!

His record is best purely due to the others either being young, subs or plagued with injuries which hopefully have no cleared up.

We should still try to hang on to him if we can though.

  235. I would swap Adebayor for Huntelaar in the blink of an eye. The latter is a phenomenal goal-scorer and is great at poaching those goals from 6 yards out – you know, the opportunities we get when Adebayor is out on the wing somewhere. Huntelaar’s goal-scoring record is fantastic. Even when he flopped at Madrid, he still got 8 goals in 20 games – not so bad.

  236. interesting statistical fact Ole. by 5 chances I don’t mean half chances, i mean gilt edged chances.

another stat is that ade is offside more than any striker I’ve ever seen.

I on’t think that he should be “first to go”. I think that 25 million pounds is a good deal & wenger will be able to surprise us yet again with that money. its a huge profit.

If he stays, and plays well, good. If he goes, and we get more and better players, even better.

  237. Ole Gunner, he hasn’t come out now to quash these rumours, FACT!

Cesc has despite how many times it happens every time he issues a rebuttal.

It’s all I am asking for.

  238. Can we talk about something else?

  239. Steww I did try to change the subject ages ago, asking if Veiria would get a good reception at The Emirates if he came back in a Spuds shirt!

  240. Thanks drew. I think in any other shirt no doubt. But spuds… Hmmm that is a poser.

  241. That Ade is a leading striker is beyond doubt. If we work on the assumption that the club football in England is the one of the two best in the world and the assumption that the league table does not lie, we can not simply write off Ade’s record. He is a very good player.

Yes he is not the complete player yet but he still has time to develop. Its up to Ade and AW to sort this transfer business out and all we can do is watch from the sidelines but lets not debate over something as basic as ‘Is Ade a good player.’? His record says it all.

    Please change the topic.

  242. He won’t go to spurs

  243. I would like to think we would still sing his name, he is an Arsenal legend.

It would show the we have more class than them twats up the road.

  244. How many players have crossed ‘the wrong way’?

  245. I’d stiil give Viera a warm welcome in a spuds shirt…before throwing some abuse at him for throwing his career(whats left) down the shitter.

  246. I think Vieira’s reception wouldn’t be ugly. I just think there would be a mass feeling of pity and sadness to see him end up like that. Kind of like Ali against Holmes…

  247. I have no interest in insulting you. You’re not just saying daft stuff, you’re also dishonest. These are your own words, and the meaning is clear:

“I have a sneaky feeling that Chamakh is the red herring and Arsene will pull off an outrageous deal. He’s saving himself 80k a week-maybe there’s some room for an A-list striker with a hunger to play for us.”

“Wouldn’t the perfect striker to take advantage of Arshavin and Fabregas’s passes be Eto’o? Apparently, he’s looking for a way out of Barcelona and maybe working for Arsene would be the solution for him. With 20-25 million from Ade and a savings of 80k a week, signing Eto’o would be the gamble that could win the league for us”.

You’re obviously saying that selling Ade will save us £80K a week which is not true because an “A-list” replacement will cost more. Thus, selling Ade is the costlier option, and does not save us money.

As I said, I am not arguing against your position on Ade, I am against mass delusion which is plaguing Arsenal discussions these days.

    It’s not a trivial point.

  248. drew 10
you got your answer the 1st time .. like against Villareal they went down hard but at least Bobby was ‘appy..

  249. I can think of some going to Manu or ‘pool but can’t remember any going to .. oh hang on that rat faced reserve that went oop north did didn’t he.

  250. drew10,

We’re talking about fact you’re talking possibility. Yes, Eduardo can score more. RVP can score more. But they never have. One day Vela will score more goals than Eduardo….one day.

  251. “I think Vieira’s reception wouldn’t be ugly. I just think there would be a mass feeling of pity and sadness to see him end up like that. Kind of like Ali against Holmes…”

    Lagooner, class!!

  252. I can’t be bothered to read back and see who challenged me but my answers are:

Yes I will support Any decision by Arsene asto whether a player is kept or sold. He is the only man who has the knowledge and ability to make such a decision. However, that is not the point that many here are making. They are just attacking Ade. Different thing than making an informed decision.

No, I did not think that the Arshavin deal was ‘fantasy football’. It was clear that Arsene had been tracking him for some time and actually we payed very little for him given the silly money being touted for players this summer. I get as excited about new signings as anybody. I just do not seek the exit of one we already have in the hope of buying someone else. Bird in the hand, you know.

    Now, I’m looking for volunteers.

Who will step forward and hug Jimbo? Obviously not Ole or Chris, they have shown that they are not up to the challenge. Come on. Who’ll give it a go?

  253. Adam,

The facts show that Ade has a better scoring return than most of the league’s best strikers.

What you’ve claimed that he needs 5 chances to score is true but the fact is that other strikers need more.

  254. Of course Anton Blackwood too. he’ll get a good reception.

  255. steww,

erm…. Gary Mabbut surely. and Garth Crooks, Ruel Fox, Ginola, Nick Barmby for definate,

  256. If Vieira goes to spurs i will be very surprised. If he didnt need the playing time becuase its World Cup year my money would be on Wenger bringing him back.

*He has experience – which we need in CM
*He wouldnt demand starting 11 every week i dont think
    *He respects Wenger
    *He is an Arsenal legend

Even if he played 15-20 games for us, it would be worth it if the wages were right. He wont disrupt our squad development if hes not playing week in week out too. Im sure Wenger could bring him back if he wants him as a bit part player… just i doubt Vieira wants that having the World Cup in the horizon.

Also Wenger said not long ago he doesnt like the idea of bringing a player back… (regarding Anelka i think it was) but if it was a special case he would think about it.

    Henry/Pires/Vieira fit into that category

  257. aj,

I respect anybody’s preferences. I rate Luis Fabiano ahead of Adebayor. I rate Torres ahead of him.

However, the fact that I rate someone over Ade doesn’t mean he should go.

If we need a better striker, maybe we should get rid of the worst one. Maybe not the one who has the best scoring record?

  258. Of sourse I would love to think that PV4 would rather eat his own flesh than play for those soulless cunts.

  259. Jimbo

So all you really want is a hug?

  260. While looking into the new hot topic of the day I found this hilarious headline “The THREE players Spurs need to knock Arsenal out of the Big Four”
    Here’s the link http://www.sportingo.com/football/a11755_three-players-spurs-need-knock-arsenal-out-big-four

It never ends that particular joke does it?

  261. Vieira wouldnt go Spurs… its like Beckham going back to City

  262. oh rubbish. he might score more goals than the crap strikers, but that doesn’t mean he’s in the same class as torres, or eto, etc. he’s not shit, but he’s not great either.

  263. Adam

I just thought I would mention Adebayor having one of the best converstion rates in the premiership, this yr in the EPL being 18% last year 23%, and this year CL 24%. Im sure only Torres was better.
    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12028_5431307,00.html

  264. Duke – I meant Arsenal players who had crossed to the dark side. Mabbut was a Bristol Rovers player so he’s forgiven.

  265. OleGunner

You misread it, I’m afraid. Again, you either did it deliberately or you’re just a little slow today. No problem, let me explain it again.

If you sell Adebayor, you have 80,000 more per week to spend than when you had him. Obviously Eto’o would be more than that, so you have a net higher spend than you would with Ade. Of course you wouldn’t save 80,000 per week by selling Ade and getting Eto’o.

Interestingly but not surprisingly you chose to ignore my next comments about Eto’o.

“California Gooner-Agree with you about Eto’o probably breaking our wage structure, but we can all live in hope”.

“Danny-like I said before Eto’o is probably out of reach.”

    Now who’s being dishonest?!

  266. Adam

Dont shit on your own.. if you want to take a pop at a player or a striker indeed. Have a go at Robbie Keane.. Hes shi*!

  267. Chris – he’s a twat too. Don’t forget that.

  268. the problem with signing chamakh is that he IS a replacement for adebayor. he fails to score just about as much as adebayor, but with less of a chance of being flagged offside! we need a REPLACEMENT+ move here, not a straight swap!

if ade leaves, instead of fannying about with this moroccan fella, how about sniffing out marc janko [salzburg, 37goals] –height, pace, finishing, goals, dirt-cheap?

  269. Steww, there are not many players who crossed from us to them but a few to make the step up in the other direction!

Pat Jennings and Sol Campbell stand out in that list!

However Bentley went there spouting his Anti-Arsenal bullshit trying to endear himself to their fans, look where that got him!

    Mug.

  270. To be honest, I’m don’t really care that much if Ade goes or not. I’m more bothered about the fact that it might be an EPL team though. but still its not that big a deal. I still have a good feeling about this season! I’m sure we’ll win something!!

  271. lagooner,

I didn’t misread it. That’s what your comment clearly implies.

What we’re replacing is Ade who supposedly is on £80k a week. If we bring someone on £110k a week, we’re £30k in the red. That’s how it works in the real world.

You’re wrong to say that selling Ade “saves” money, especially because you want an A-list replacement. A-list replacements will cost more than Adebayor….

Remember that we were talking about replacing Ade. Not about adding to the squad. The question at hand was how do you replace Ade? The Eto’o or similar striker option costs more my friend. It’s not a trivial

Some here have argued for the cheap replacement option. Look if Ade went for £40M, we can get Chamackh, Huntelaar and Luis Fabiano for that amount.

  272. still quite remarkable how everyone knows how Wenger feels about this hole debacle, with out any direct quotes to speak of..

  273. Adam,

You poor deluded fool. Won’t let facts get in the way of your biases will you?

  274. ‘There are three types of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics’

Please stop looking at stats and analyse his game – other factors besides how good the player is effect stats (chance creation of teams, league played in etc).

    Ade Cant….

    Dribble,
    Make good runs,
Hold the ball up/ continue play (he breaks up 90% of plays – givin the ball away),
    Finish most 1 on 1s,

He also has bad decision making.

What he can do is score simple goal, which by the way most professional footballers can also do (he has scored a few special goals though I will give him that).

Conclusion: He is an average striker, will get goals but will also waste many chances and many plays. He is good enough for back-up possibly but in case of a good enough offer he should be sold and replaced.

P.s Arsene knows what he is doing – dont you remembered how shocked he was when he was asked about Ade – sayin that he did not expect him to score that many goals and that he didnt think he will do it again!!!!!!

  275. What’s our best league season since 2005? Answer: 07/08. What happened then? Ade scored 30 goals, and the team fired.

  276. Freebie

But the fact is other strikers actually waste more chances. The facts are in your face, stop being deluded.

  277. freebie, you had me up until “Arsene knows..”

    but i see your vision

  278. Freebie,

There are two types of people. Objective human beings and deluded fools.

Ade is a striker. His job is to bang them in.

He bangs one in every 2 games. His actual scoring record is the best in the team.

All the rest is a pissable attempt to justify delusion.-

i dont think you have played football in your life at a serious level to come out with horse shit like that.

Goals against spuds, newcastle, villereal were good goals hell one even won goal of the season.

keep jumping on the media bandwagon like all the rest as it shows your just sheep rather than expressing your own views

  280. a smart feller once said that stats are the closest thing to tangible facts.. freebie your existence is denied..

  281. steww,

Sorry when you said “wrong way” i thought you meant spuds who take it up the wrong way!!!

  282. cant dribble yet he dribbles round the keeper against blackburn

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5thmX073orM

    heres a reminder you troll

  283. Freebie your post will now win worst pointless most bollocks post of the day…well done!!

  284. And there has been some fukin shite today so a double well done.

  285. enuff with these negative arseholes – i got better things to do than argue with fake fans, feels like im debating with rival fans!!

    Up the Arse

Wenger is king – Arsenal are the best team in the world (fuck the fake fans)

  286. jeez duke – he did do well, I scrolled past when I read the first piece of nonsense, the rest must have been 18 carat crap.

  287. steww

    18 carat crap.

Thats a good one. One for the future!

  288. I quite liked geegunner’s ‘fuck the fake fans’ too!

  289. Cant believe the amount of Ade bashers who came out to play!!

It will be funny to see their reaction come august IF he runs out onto the Emirates pitch, i really hope Wenger persuades him to stay and Wenger wants to keep him. Any other alternative is a step backwards or sidewards. With Ade around it will allow Eduardo, Vela, Bendtner and even Walcott more time to slowly develop into great strikers also without landing the pressure directly on them.

If Ade leaves, RvP has also got the full repsonsibility on his shoulders too.

  290. Top post yet again YW.

Why would the Gallagher Bros. Team need Ade?

    Santa Cruz £15M
    Bellemy ?M, who cares,
    Tevez £25M
+ whoever else is in the Citeh squad.

You’d think they’d want another style of striker instead of Ade, they’ve already got Cruz. It doesn’t make sense.

  291. What does make sense is that dodgy article on Usmanov on the BBC, it’s not the first and it won’t be the last.

‘Board Wars’ have begun in earnest.
The ‘Cold War’ is now over.

  292. I’d think that if Ade was so crap, a successful professional with such experience in football as M.Hughes would be able to spot the obvious, like Ade’s inability to shoot, his inability to dribble…etc…

  293. Why is it considered being negative to wish for a starting 11 full of players committed to Arsenal?

Would it be wrong to reserve judgment on the authenticity or inauthenticity of all the past alleged Ade quotes and put your full support behind Wenger’s judgment of all the players, including Ade, and each of the players’ commitment to the club? Maybe instead of taking sides in the matter, we should just put our trust in the manager to fill the locker room with people that really want to be there.

I’ve had my issues with Ade, but I will admit that the force with which some of the negative comments surrounding Ade make me a touch uncomfortable. If he leaves, I’d see it as an unfortunate end to a situation I wish would’ve worked out better, rather than something to throw a party about. So I guess that’s indifference to the matter and regardless, we’ll all hopefully be standing side by side cheering the team on, with or without Ade.

  294. Finsburyparker,

The whole transfer makes no sense. Arsenal selling to Man City is an own goal for the board as well. If I were on the Usmanov camp, my next salvo is that selling Ade to Man City proves we’re skint and we desperately need funds.

  295. Finsburyparker

I dont really care what Citeh want, Wenger will be looking out for the good of the team. As he said at the start of the “silly season” he expects to keep all his players together.

Clichy has stated the same, Cesc has too, and so has RvP and i think Almunia. Eboue even stated he is happy to stay at Arsenal.

The most important thing is to keep the squad together. If Ade goes up to le boss and demands a transfer that is the only way he will be allowed to go. With a transfer request or not, its Ade’s decision.. Wenger will never stand in the way of a player that wants out, but he will try his best to make sure that player will stay if he reckons its for the good of the player.

Its why im nervous in this case that Ade could go, the cons of staying at Arsenal right now for the guy outweigh the pros.

    He must be thinking….

STAY = Earn less + Abuse from fans If Im not performing + mess up my career

GO = More money + fresh start + no abuse

also he must be aware that if he goes he could be labelled like Barry was, dependent on where he goes and IF he goes.

If he is to be a great football he should stay and prove himself to our fans, score another 35 goals and play at the top level. I hope he makes the right choice but i wouldnt blame him if he jumps ship.

  296. Y.W. – Excellet post. Unfortunately for you and the few defiant regulars on this blog, this newest Ade saga has proven that when it comes to the best interests of Arsenal FC, you are an exception to the rule.

Most of our fans have proven over and over again that they are mindless twats.
They slate and alienate their most productive goal-scorer for the past three years.
They give life to rumor, innuendo and propoganda about someone who is still wearing the shirt.
They lust for world-class players who are already contracted to other teams and alienate their own.
They decry their best striker and are clueless as to why another club would want to pay top-dollar for the same player.

    Then they wonder:
Why the media treat them as complete mugs.
Why the Board treat them as mindless irritants.
Why most footballers manipulate them as yo-yos with pledges of loyalty and love while their agents ruthlessly seek the next best deal.

The only winners in this little brouhaha is bigotry, hatred and ignorance. Complete twats.

  297. you people …. support your team…
    Once again……………………………..

  298. ArseChicago

    well said

    Ole Gunner

It is likely that a following 1000 articles will be on “why Arsenal need Investment and Usmanov”… which will lead to Usmanov ranting even more !!

  299. Ole Gunner,

‘There are two types of people. Objective human beings and deluded fools’

    Dont forget love fools

  300. Exactly OG.

I totally agree with how you read the situation too CG.

Anyway, as Chicago said above, there are a lot of things we don’t know about. Interesting posts here the other day about the Fizman/Dein split. Hopefully the team won’t be destabilised by events in the boardroom.

  301. ArseChicago,

Some things are clearly true. One, he’s the striker we have who has the best strike rate, and goalscoring record. Also he’s being hounded by a mob. And it’d be remiss of us not to point that out.

Your point about players committed to Arsenal. How do we measure that? A blood test?

I will trust Wenger, but I will still be disillusioned that we keep losing our best players. And I won’t let anybody tell me he isn’t because he is. The best we’ve done since 2005 in the league is when Ade scored 30 goals. It’s no coincidence.

  302. Jimbo

aaahhhh you returned you pothetic excuse for a supporter.. so glad to have you back :)

  303. To clarify I mean he’s one of our best players. Not the best. One of them….

  304. Ade is looking for a new challenge and is intrigued by the exciting new project in Manchester. Mark Hughes is a manager that Ade has always respected and he is looking forward to playing for him and helping to bring throphies to Eastlands.

  305. Jimbo,

At least love fools are fools for love. Fools are fools for delusion.

  306. Ole

He is very clearly one of our better players.
Its no surprise when other teams look at our lineup they look at Ade’s name and fear what is to come, in the Premiership and around Europe. I dont know why Arsenal supporters cant see how important he is to us, but everyone else is laughing at why we cant see it.

Ade proved why we need him so much this season once again… i think it was after a few draws we were trailing Villa still… Cesc and Ade returned after injury together – the result was a run of games where Cesc assisted 5 games running and Ade scored 5 games running…

You give him the support he will score. Does that make him a bad player because the support wasnt there before?

  307. Jimbo

before you spread crap on this insightful blogg, please include “sources”

  308. Start moving on now lads, He’s gone

  309. Ole,
I agree about the mob mentality. I’ve stated my opinion on Ade’s last season, but thinking about the deluge of negative comments on Ade, most particularly over the last few days, hasn’t really made me feel great about the mob mauling you’ve alluded to. Maybe they’re right, maybe they’re wrong; it still doesn’t feel good in retrospect to be seemingly relishing the skewering and sending off of Ade.

That all being said, questions have been raised about his desire to remain at Arsenal. While we can’t measure it with a blood test, I believe Arsene knows more than you or I know about what Ade’s really saying and thinking. As I pointed out yesterday, Ade’s benching at the end of the year wasn’t really because of injury, was it? I’ll just leave it at that. Whatever Wenger wants to do, I’ll support him because I feel he has far more knowledge of what’s going on inside the locker room and Ade’s head than any of us here do.

  310. Jimbo

Dont you get it? We all understand Ade could leave this summer… what we dont need is the morons to come out and boil up a fragile situation.

You are proving to do just that, your love affair with the Sun and the newspapers seems to dominate your thinking and comes before your support for your club… why is that…

My only guess is your a troll. If you aint – PROVE IT

Its pretty simple, give it your best shot

  311. ade never scored 5 games running chris, dude you can’t just make stuff up!!

  312. Arsene on Ade (Not recent quotes):

“We have to get behind him and support him because he is a tremendous force and tremendous importance for the team – you want your own fans to be behind him.

‘What happened in the transfer period did not always reflect his deep desire and there was manipulation from agents on both sides, but overall I am positive he will recover.’

‘Every player needs to feel wanted.

‘I think he is settled in his own mind. He has given a lot in the first two games.’”

  313. Kirby, he did once, we played Derby five times on the trot. Three were penalties

  314. Not even bothered to take part in this discussion. But I would just like to add one thing that most of the regulars forgot to mention today, while FDT.

    FU** OFF YOU RETARDS!!!!

Most of their comments should have been moderated in the first place.

  315. Chris please don’t waste your breath on the ‘jimbo’. He’s a troll. The more ridiculous the things he posts the more obvious his attempts to get a rise out of us. Just ignore him. Ever seen a troll totally ignored? It is fucking brilliant – they start to froth. It’s hard but come on lets never talk directly to the troll again and watch him go..

  316. kirby

You just failed the TEST mate!

what was it 4? you took your time researching that!! LOL

To go out and research something to again make your own player look bad… what are your intentions… why dont you like Ade? Has he hurt you deep down in the bottom of your little cold heart??

  317. Ole gunner, what a load of bull shit. If he cant man up and do his job properly then he can just f#ck off now. What a pussy. Is our team made up of girls? How come no other teams players whinge and moan like this? What the hell is wrong with these men?

  318. steww, and you’re boring so keep the rice hole closed

  319. Don’t bite boys and girls – let him froth.

  320. Jimbo,

The only one p***** whigning and moaning right now is you. No?

  321. no chris i just remembered that he scored 10 league goals and i don’t remember anyone scoring 5 on the spin

what are you on about i don’t mind if he stays i was mucking about but you did just make it up.

and it wasn’t to make him look bad.

  322. Ateeb – you just fed it. This only works if we all do it.

  323. Kirby, dont worry mate, chris has no idea what he’s talking about, He makes up bull shit facts and then blames you for proving him wrong, him and Ole are so wrapped up in there love affair with Manchedter Citys new striker Emanuel Adebeyor that they have completely lost touch with reality.

  324. if he goes we know his intentions. we move on, were not that successful with him, who says we won’t be without him.

  325. Out of interest, what’s the ‘p’ swearword?

  326. ok steww

  327. Piss

  328. kirby is’nt it funny how you always counter other supporter’s views and posts instead of adding something of your own?

  329. i ain’t worried jimbo chris needs to remember that ade probably doesn’t give a fuck about him and that if he goes to city it ain’t going to be to play in the europa league is it!

  330. Alex you cant have a go at him just for being knowlegable about Arsenal. You lot are really clutching at straws now, if only the boys at Le Grove could see you now

  331. Ateeb buddy dont waste your breath on a troll whose avatar is as blue and blinkered as he is. He has a sad life and railing against the club and its players cheers him up.

  332. “My only guess is your a troll. If you aint – PROVE IT”

    Jimbo im still waiting…

I know if i was NOT a troll and someone acused me i would feel pretty offended. You have taken it on the chin… So im taking it as a YES

    JIMBO IS A TROLL

Kirby you agreeing with him doesnt make you look too good does it??

  333. Chris
It’s just everywhere I’ve been on the net these idiots kick in the door and take a crap on the rug to ruin it just for a laugh. If this was a Japanese camera loversn forum he’s be shouting how fucking crap Nikon and Canon are, unless he found someone who liked Sony then they’d be a pile of shit and on it goes.

  334. Dear Doomers,

With regards to the exciting turn of events in the Ade saga, we require your services for a top secret mission. However due to the nature of the mission, we the H.Q, can’t assign anyone on our own, as it will undoubtly raise alot of protests. Most of you would die to take part in this exciting project. No we’re not talking about the Man City project, but something more vital and fullfilling.

Your mission should you dare to accept. Would be to bite off Mark Hughes hand, and than deliver Ade to Man City. This could involve either getting him a taxi to the airport or carrying him on your shoulders to Man City. Due to the inherent stupidity that most of you show. To select a candidate we would like anyone willing to take be selected for this mission, to write a 100 words essay on how you would deliver Ade to Man City, if given the opportunity. The more absurd the claim, the better the chances for you to win.

    H.Q.

  335. i always make my own points alex.

how come when someone like me comes on you come out and start trying to school it here, you want to talk football alex, i’m here.

everyone is talking about the ade thing, have a go at someone else.

  336. Alex

    It is hilarious…

They always try throw back what you give them because they aint got their own views. It explains why they always jump on the bandwagon

    Kirby and Jimbo sitting in the troll tree… K I S S …

    hahah you pothetic trolls

  337. Chris, You only attack me personally, your views on Adebeyor (Manchester Citys new striker) do not hold water.

I’ll take that as a victory

  338. i have said already that i think i would rather ade stay because, i don’t think arsene will get anyone to replace him and theo and vela are not ready to give us 16 goals

but chris i’m not going to lick a players arse for a half effortless season he will have to work harder next year.

jimbo wants him out end of. we are all different.

  339. god, again with the Ade-bashing. What a bunch of lightweight supporters showing up today. People who are more interested in slagging off the team than supporting them.

Great article today on the soccernet about how players are leaving Hull and also avoiding going to Hull because of Phil Breakdown. Here’s a choice quote:

“A questionable positive can only be seized on so many times before it becomes tiresome. The Tigers boss reached that point some time ago and some wonder if he is the reason some players have opted to move elsewhere.”

Ruisliptiger, wherever you are, I hope you’re reading!

  340. chris read 3.03 comment and then ask yourself if kirby has his own view.

  341. Dear Kirby,

“but chris i’m not going to lick a players arse for a half effortless season he will have to work harder next year”

Good choice of words. If you can improve your punctuation and add a bit of coherence in your sentences, we are sure you have a great shot at winning the exciting mission to deliver Ade to Man City. We know you’d love to be a part of this mission, despite your initial claims of not minding Ade to stay. Be honest now. Let your other friends know of the competition, we’ll be sending out a blog memo soon.

    H.Q

  342. Well we couldnt do it could we!!!

One bloody summer without losing a big player!

I knew we couldn’t old out.

  343. Silver lining..

Maybe we can unleash Theo upfront now!

  344. OG,

Your defiant defence of Ade was inspiring. If only all our fans got behind their players like that. We are however staring at a situation where the bid for Ade is real and has every chance of being successful according to the latest news.

Its time to rebuild once again. Hope AW and Gazidis finish the transfer business for the summer soon to put at rest all rumours and conjecture.

  345. Kirby,

“chris read 3.03 comment and then ask yourself if kirby has his own view.”

Haha. Are you trying to impersonate Adebayor’s third person references, you sleezey ba****. Great sense of humour, try out for us, we’ll promote you. You’ll get a raise.

  346. the doomers family

    thankyou

there are no words to come back from that boy you put me in my place

    haha wow

sorry do you even follow football?

  347. dukegoonem, The pattern is well and truly there now isn’t it, no ammount of denial can change that

  348. Ateeb is so unfunny its funny

  349. I am really looking forward to this coming season. We are in great shape. This squad will really come of age in the next few months. Untouchable.

    ….Arsenal….

  350. Apparently we were the team (along with Everton) which scored the most goals from set pieces last season. 23.

Save that for the next time you hear a commentator say Arsenal have no plan B….and Arsenal want to pass it in.

  351. me too frank me too!!!

  352. I didn’t realise till today what a poor striker Roque Santa Cruz is. A one season wonder if ever there was one. The season before last, he scored 23 goals. That’s more than the sum of his goals from his next three best seasons since moving to Europe in 1999. No wonder Man City are after another striker.

  353. @all you losers…

    Matters Arsenal…

Ade was in pre-season today, So was Ebuoe and Senderos…

Only Theo, Gibbs, Vela, and Cesc weren’t.

  354. Frank, you’ll make a good captain.

  355. Alex,

Let’s wait and see what happens.

  356. Arsenal…..!!!!!!!!!

  357. The players are assembling and Arsenal is beginning to mobilise. Premiership teams…be very afraid. ECL sides……bit unnerved are you?…Arsenal are coming to get you. Oh yes!

    ….Arsenal

  358. Frank, me too! This is going to be a great season. It will be great to see how the team settles and what sort of nous they have once the season starts. The greatest game on earth and the best team to boot!

  359. Adebeyor will score thirty this season !!!!!

  360. Everton supporters……oh dear! Sorry. Someone had to be first.

  361. Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal…clickclickclick….Arsenal, Arsenal, Arseanaaa all…Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal….clickclickclick…Arsenal….ARSENAL…clickclickclick

  362. LOL, Ateeb!

Man… those hackneyed expressions the doomers use when one of their hate figures is linked for a transfer!

“I’d drive him there myself” – I’d wonder about them operating potentially dangerous machinery with such an important cargo; it might be a dangerous situation for both the fan and player.

Actually, that could be their point.

“I’d bite his hand off” – Well, that’s more of an accurate scenario.

    PZ,

I think Rafael Honigstein, a famous German sports writer, had Roque down as the Bundesliga’s worst player, two years running.

  363. Adebeyor !!!!!!!!!!
    Adebeyor !!!!!!!!!!
Give him the ball and he’ll get caught offside !!!!!!!!

  364. Fuck off, Jimbo

  365. Santa-cruz has to be up there with the best over rated footballers ever. one season wonder indeed.

    OVER RATED UTD

  367. ‘Robin Van Persie has been so near and yet so far from silverware over the past four years and admitted during the 2008/09 that he feels the Arsenal fans’ frustrations. “I am like them,” Van Persie told the Official Matchday Programme. “I feel the same, I want success as badly as them and it can be frustrating when it doesn’t happen. I’m a positive person though, and I think positively, and I think the fans should do that as well. We didn’t win everything in the past couple of years, but we are doing absolutely everything we can to change it. The main thing is to finally get silverware, but there is a clear picture here of how to achieve that. We need to stick to it – because this is how Arsenal is. The Arsenal way is in our system now, it grows into you, and I don’t think it’s clever to change your philosophy. Things take time, and you often see clubs sacking managers for fun, and they don’t get anywhere. You need a long-term strategy. That’s why I like Arsenal, because the players have time to grow into the system, and if we stick to our principles we will get silverware. That’s the main target, if we stick to the way we play we will get it.”

…now lets play our part and provide the support that these players deserve and need!

  368. DukeGoonem, You think Alonso is overated?

  369. Irrelevant. This is an Arsenal blog!

  370. RVP isn’t like Jimbo, Frank. Jimbo is only happy when he’s complaining about something. It’s just the way some people are. There is no “I’m a positive person” when it comes to Jimbo.

Jimbo, if you disagree then prove it.

  371. Dear Doomers Family,

Operation Jelly Bean going swell. Met armed resistance on blogs at dawn. Operation codenamed Jolly Sailor in progress. Enemy messages intercepted and decrypted. Mininformation spreading and surveillance in progress.

Maintaining deep cover. Full battlefield operations to commence soon.

    Over and Out.

    Brutus.

  372. That was Duke Goonems fault, he’s a spud

  373. OOU,

Yup, Rafa Honigstein is a good pundit and no fan of Cruz, but he never got a fair run out at Munich. He had injuries last season too, I wouldn’t call him a poor player, more of an unlucky one. I think Luca Toni is much worse then Cruz ever was!

I won’t believe this Ade story till it’s on AFC.com.
It’s really not in AFC’s interest to sell.

    Does Usmanov pay the trolls?
Or does he pay his PR men to manipulate mindless zombies who ‘think’ for themselves,
but always seem to just post bile about others?

  374. Gris Gris, Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna are the best full backs in the premiership if not the world.

Adebeyor, is a piece of shit man city player

  375. Read this from john cross the Twat who writes in the mirror. This from Twitter:

“City give up on Eto’o. Will they now turn to Adebayor? A similar mercenary”.

Why’s Eto’o a mercenary? Anybody have any clues?

  376. you just can’t do it, can you? Not even half marks for effort you jackass.

  377. My guess is that AW and the squad would think that you were a piece of shit, jimbo.

  378. Et tu Muppet?

  379. Hughes just admitted there looking to sign more players with a sly grin.

    Frank, Fuck off

  380. For fuck sake stop feeding it. It can’t react if you ignore it.

  381. I like feeding it though.

  382. Steve,

Where did you see that Adebayor was at Pre season training today?

It would be interesting to know if he is….

  383. @ Ole Gunner

    Its a f$£$en disgrace..

  384. Mark Hughes doesn’t have many supporters…well whats to like about the man. So it is a rare treat to have a troll on here who is right up Mark Hughes arse.

  385. Mark Hughes’ name is in fact Leslie Hughes. If I was his parents I would have called him Hugh.

  386. Hughes has just confirmed that a deal will be done for Adebeyor.

    Ole Gunner, Chrisgoona,

I thought yousaid he wouldnt leave and that he loved Arsenal? I guess I was correct, Adebeyor loves Adebeyor

  387. OK Frank, each to their own, but I have a dream of a world where trolls yell and froth and scream and it’s as if no one can hear them, then they scuttle off and die.
The thing called jimbo was on a blog yesterday dedicated to supporters of Marxist economic theory and he just kept posting “The dictatorship of proletariat is a c*nt” over and over.
It just bores me is all.

  388. You lose steww

  389. Does that make you happy then Jimbo?

Who are you going to boo next season instead?

  390. Naah I agree with you, Steww. You are right. No more feeding trolls today.

  391. Matt, it doesn’t make me happy at all matt. Some plonkers on here dont accept the truth and attack me personally when I’m only telling the truth, then a childish argument starts and thats how we’ve arrived here.

I’m gutted really, I didnt like him but I worry who we’ll bring in. Is there anybody? The senior players wont be happy either

  392. OK that’s two of us. We could start a revolution here Frank.

  393. Matt, he is very secular with his booing.

Any misplaced pass = 1 boo
    Missed header = 2 boos
30 yard screamer goal = leaves the stadium

  394. Fuck off, Frank.

Steww, I finnish work soon anyway steww so you can stop crying, i’ll be gone soon and you can have it all your own way again, theres a good boy

  395. We have the best man in the world at the club for signing players who no one has heard of.

I remember when we signed Eduardo there were plenty of doomers out then saying it was a disgrace that we had signed a ‘nobody’ from the Croatian league.

Have patience, and keep the faith.

If Adebayor leaves, it will be because AW decided to sell him, no other reason.

If we sign no one else, so be it – we will have Bendtner, RVP, Eduardo, Walcott, Arshavin and Vela who can all play up front.

Barnet is only 4 days away….

The Cold Turkey is almost over….

  396. If he does leave, he will of at the very least left me with the memory of jumping about like a madman at WHL after scoring that volley the season before last…

    What a goal that was….

  397. Matt,

‘If Adebayor leaves, it will be because AW decided to sell him, no other reason.’

Oh matt, I thought you were normal for a minute then, but it seems you’re one of them

  398. Jackass
    Imbecile
    Moron
    BooBoy
    Objectionable

  399. I am not one of anyone Jimbo, but i can see what is right in front of me.

I am not blinded by what i read in The Sun, or on other more negative blogs….

  400. Nor I am I Matt, everthing I thought about Adebeyor has come true

  401. You are better off without him.

He’s been consumed by the desire to earn more, and now that he has had the opportunity he wouldn’t have been the same player if you had refused to sell.

I’m sure Wenger can find someone equally as good if not better for the £25 million that is being quoted.

Not looking forward to playing Man City or Real on Fifa next year though!

  402. Matt

You are the voice of reason on here

You were the one who broke the story of the Ade transfer 2 hours before it was announced on Sky yet you got slaughtered by the fools on here.

We either trust Arsene or we dont. The fans who are unhappy that Ade is going are not trusting Wenger.Wenger will have someone lined up who will score more goals than Ade scored last season(10)The cold truth is while Ade has been at the club we have won Fuck All.

put your trust in Arsene and forget about the greedt mercenary

  403. I agree with steww especially as Marxist economics still interests me!
If Adebayor goes ( and Arsene knows), I for one will be only too happy to consider the positive options for even more positive, dynamic football.
RvP, Eduardo, AA, Nik, Carlos and probably one new recruit up front will do for me. Add Fab, Nasri, Song, Denilson and Ramsey. Then Vermaelen, Gibbs and Clichy. Oh this sounds so good! Systems won’t matter at all with a team of skilled footballers who understand (as RvP said) the Arsenal way. We’ve already seen tantalising glimpses of this in a number of games in recent seasons.
Oh I almost forgot; remember also whats coming through; Thomas, Coquelin, Lansbury, Frimpong.
Thank you Arsene! Its always a pleasure.

  404. Jimbo

Ask your GP about that brain transplant. What a moron

  405. Matt I agree with you

  406. Ole Gunner you love fool, I bet you’re gutted. Dont say I didnt warn you

  407. Lol Muppet.

  408. Bergkamp the legend,

You’re the voice of delusion here, you and your mob.

  409. You see Ole Gunner, even Alex thinks you’re a muppett and he’s laughing out loud at you

  410. Juvenile
    Incendiary
    Minger
    Bollockbrain
    Oaf

  411. Lol Muppet!

  412. Jimbo,

    Fuck off….you scum.

  413. Brilliant Muppet, you muppet

  414. Ole, Alex is laughing out loud at you again and calling you a muppet, I thought they were supposed to be your boys

  415. Muppet – I agree it’s
    Just
    Irritating
    Meaningless
    Brainless
    Ordure

  416. Please do not feed the Trolls

  417. Very good post Yogi’s W.

  418. Jimbo is clearly a “famous” Grover on a wind-up. Best to just ignore.

Anyone else really looking forward to the Martins to Arsenal stories starting up again if we do indeed sell Ade.

  419. No – Not really QoS…

Although it is increasingly looking like my friend did indeed give me accurate information.

And still no apology from Ateeb….

  420. 3 days to Pre-season…

  421. Queen of Sub, I think I love you.

    Goodbye 4 ever

  422. Am dreading the Martins to Arsenal story QoS. That story is 24 years old. As old as Martins. No wait, the story must be older then.

  423. Not that i am one to say ‘I told you so’……

  424. If the unmentionable happens, I think we’ll sign Chamakh.

He shows an unpleasant resemblance to the lesser Ronaldo in some photos. I hope that’s just a trick of the light.

  425. PZ,

Not to worry. I haven’t seen Chamakh do 1200 stepovers and then throw a hissy fit on the pitch yet.

  426. Well AW did say in the interview that he held on French Radio that he would be interested in Chamakh if Adebayor was to leave.

    Matuidi as well?

  427. What about Martins….?

  428. I am personally not a fan QoS.

    Why, are you?

  429. Well done on your source Matt and thankyou for sharing it before the news broke on the traditional media channels.

Now if you could just get your source to ring you with news that we are about to sign Pato…that would be nice.

  430. E9 – sorry, fell for it myself didn’t I?

  431. No i was joking about Martins, Matt. I’m not a fan, it just seems like we get linked to him every summer.

  432. I was hoping you were joking.

To be honest, i get snippets of information from time to time, but nothing regular, and i have never had any about a player coming in to Arsenal.

Well, not before it had already been speculated on anyway.

I posted this one as it came out of the blue.

I am not happy that it is seemingly right either, i would prefer Ade to stay, but at the same time, i have faith in AW’s decision making when it comes to player in’s and out’s.

  433. Don’t want Ade to leave although it’s looking more likely. Chamakh will be a good replacement however. Not like for like; prefers to play on the shoulder of the defender and has a good technique. If we sign him, he may complement our play better as he works the channel very well. Rusty in front of goal but for £12m a good price.
May have a bit left over for another signing as it seems we need to sell Ade for a bit more cash, which was one of the points in the meeting with Ade and City.

  434. The price discussed seems odd. How is Tevez worth more than Ade.

Ade is a better goal scorer.

  435. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/m/man_city/8149488.stm

  436. SSN’s is reporting that Adebayor will have a work permit hearing before any transfer takes place.

Is that usual? I thought that you either had a work permit or didn’t.

  437. Ole, I can feel your emotion. You see Ade’s qualities and contributions and others don’t seem to get it — and you don’t want to have to say “I told you so” after the fact. However, I think you betray yourself when you call posters who disagree “delusional” or imply that they are idiots! That is such a departure from your normal way of discussing things. Shotta then labels Ade-doubters as Ade “haters”, which is ridiculous. There are some haters, but nothing in the arguments put forward on this board suggest hate.

The argument that everyone played against Derby misses the point! Scoring goals after the opposition has rolled is a form of padding the numbers, even if not all strikers did that. That is not to say that Ade was only a flat-track bully. He did find ways to score in some very tough games. The few times he came on as a sub last year, when the defense was always tired, showed me how good he really is. Normally, he was the one softening up defenses so that Bendtner could come on and score. However, he was also quite inconsistent and in many games seemed to actually slow the offense down.

I really can see the front-line improving in his absence. First I think that quickness and intelligence are more important in our set up than size and power. They may also be more effective against big, strong defenses in that they create a mismatch. Second, we have five other players each of whom will be better than they were last season. Bendtner, Vela, Eduardo and Walcott will all be a year older. And can easily see RVP improving on last season as well.

  438. QoS you are a star!

  439. Actually Martins should have been in that over rated utd.

Looks like Man Utd’s top four finish is under threat from city.

  440. The Brain,

Chamakh’s attributes sound good and I remember him being quite lively against Chelsea in the CL last season. If the transfer goes through, he would be off for the ACN in January – February being the star striker of Morocco. That would need to be accounted for.

The Chamakh – Gourcuff combination was great for Bordeaux last season and I was surprised that AC Milan sold Gourcuff to Bordeaux. What I found even more surprising was that AW did not bid for him in May when the transfer went through. AW has followed Gourcuff for years and is reported to be a fan.

  441. Cali Gooner, that makes no sense if I read you right. So Ade scored giveaways against Derby when other strikers decided not to score easy goals against them. I don’t buy it. Name a striker in the PL who would pass up the opportunity to score a goal, even if it is classed (incorrectly, in my opinion) as stat padding.

  442. Ole Gunner, I think you had a question about Eto’o being labelled a mercenary? It could be that he’s apparently trying to shake down Barca for half the transfer fee Man City’s looking to give them. Not really common practice in football.

It’d be unfair to speak of Ade in the same terms.

  443. ArseChicago,

Eto’o may have done that to put a spanner in the deal with Citeh as it always seemed that Barca were more eager to sell him than he was eager to go there.

I doubt he will be as difficult if a major club came calling for him later this summer.

  444. Matt,

“Although it is increasingly looking like my friend did indeed give me accurate information.
And still no apology from Ateeb….”

Hahaha. YES I KNOW IT WAS YOU WHO BROKE THE NEWS. FFS. You’ve been going on about it for 2 days now. You’re not looking for any apologies, you’re looking for some sort of appreciation. Here you go..

“THANK YOU MATT, FOR LETTING US KNOW OF THE 1 OUT OF 25 BIDS THAT CITY MUST HAVE MADE OVER THE SUMMERS, 2 hours before it became public. We wouldn’t have surely found out about it, any other way.”

God forbid, if this deal was to go through, you’d be all over the place, yet claiming you’re not happy about him leaving.

  445. Adebayor has scored against top teams and if not caused trouble to the best of defences. It’s a bit superficial (my favourite current word) for people just to point to a couple of specific matches. Some things are not easily quantified.

The problem with Adebayor is that he craves flexibility and creativity. If things don’t go well he often drifts wide when his best work would be suited to the centre. So in big games when things do not go as well are more frequently than other games, has a tendency to drift. He needs to understand the situation and unfortunately looks like he wants to leave without completing his football education.

  446. That was me, sorry, for confusing you with different names.

  447. Alex: Regarding Gourcuff, we were closely rivaling Milan before he signed for them. It would have been likely that he would play wide for us but with Arshavin and Rosicky back, Wenger feels we have enough players. Of course Bordeaux had first option at about 12m euros and he chose them.

  448. Can American posters on here please use English football terms.

    Thank you.

  449. RvP has just signed a new deal, Cesc keeps committing himself to the club. If Ade leaves and is replaced by a 21 yo striker how will they feel? Betrayed that their ambitions aren’t being met by the club? Or perhaps just realise that they can leave anytime as AW is willing to let anyone go?

And where does this leave the whole AW project?
What’s the point of developing players if as soon as they reach a standard they just leave?

How will we ever get away from having a young team if we keep selling players in their prime and replacing them with young players?

And if AW can bring in a replacement, he usually develops players. This takes time. So is this another season with no trophies.

AW said if we didn’t win anything in the next 2 years the project cwould have failed. Will he leave at the end of his contract in 2 years time?

Losing one player, whether its Ade or any other of our top players in itself isn’t the problem.

It is the message it sends out, the questions raised.

  450. Ateeb, behave yourself! There have been plenty of real twats on here today without you carrying on your feud with Matt.

How much do you think Martins will cost us?

  451. Cali Gooner,

“I really can see the front-line improving in his absence. First I think that quickness and intelligence are more important in our set up than size and power. ”

I think that slowness(when it comes to transfer rumour acceptance) and intelligence are more important in the blogsphere than rushing to conclusions, and slating a player that has yet to take off his Arsenal shirt.

  452. CaliGooner

Look, delusional comments are delusional comments. And I state exactly why comments are delusional or just wrong. Somebody who thinks selling Ade will free us £80k a week is delusional. Someone who thinks scoring against Derby doesn’t count is a nitwit.

Substantive comments I actually engage. For example I think you’re very wrong to say power does not matter. Or to imply that Adebayor is not quick. He’s our quickest striker apart from Walcott.

If you’re going to make anti-Ade comments make them true. If you don’t I am sick of playing nice with disinformation.

  453. You are missing the point entirely Ateeb. (and yes, i can work out that is you).

The reason i keep going on about it, is because you were a prize cock yesterday, and were rude to me, and tried to make me look silly to continue with your act as the ‘court jester’ over here at ACLF.

Oh, and you also atributed comments regarding RVP to me, that were in no way anything to do with me.

I have no desire for any comments relating to the post i made, what i do seek is for you to stop acting like a prick, admit you were wrong and apologise.

Quite simple really, and it appears you are not man enough to do either.

  454. Concols,

Sorry, assume it was me. Where did I err?

Gris Gris the American Poster :)

  455. other than writing “concols” instead of Consols!!

  456. What is the f*ck with you people…why don’t you f*cking get it? If he was this crap why clubs are interested in him?

And the managers interested in him are all stupid, and you are the smart ones that we should listen to?

Ade is a good striker period. Why don’t you accept the fact that you don’t like him or hate him for anything but football reasons?

I can’t believe these fans, you hate or dislike him, just say I dislike him not because of his football, I just don’t like him…but cut the foolishness about scoring against Derby County or Gloucester Meadows. They all count don’t they?

  457. John N,

    Thanks! Exactly right!

Who do we sell next? Let’s sell Cesc next he’s our best midfielder.

Many already advocate selling Gallas & Toure our best defenders.

It’s irrational and it’s driving me crazy.

Look at Chelsea….squad of twats and cunts. But they keep their best players. Even the likes of Terry. Drogbba in the last 2 seasons has probably scored as many Premier League goals as Ade got last season.

We, we just rebuild every season. At the end of the season, we’ll say it was because we had to rebuild the attack after Ade left….

I hope we really don’t have to say that.

  458. I think CBob lost you here Gris Gris “stat padding”
    :)

    Another American poster
    .

  459. Bob,

I don’t know what a Martin is. If he’s a player I’d ring a few FRIENDS whose identity I would not share, because their lives will be in danger. However given the alphabets in his name, I’d say he should cost as much as we pay Adebayor in a week.

F*** Matuidi, Chamakha, Dzeko, Matins, and whoever is out there, who doesn’t wear the red and white shirt, as yet.

    Matt,

Get over your sissy issues of seeking apologies, for things you yourself blew apart. Sure I confused the name Matt with Matty, but to me you both aren’t much different anymore. And I admit I was wrong with the whole RVP comments. As for apology. Sure, I’d give it to you on the condition that you never mention the fact* that it was YOU who broke the news TWO hours before it went public. If only we could have done something about it right there and then to change the outcome. And offcourse you’d have to apologize for making me read your comments that clearly, DEMANDED some sort of APPRECIATION. And continue to do so. Let it go, would be an outcome that both of us might be better off with.

  460. #

    John N,

    Thanks! Exactly right!

Who do we sell next? Let’s sell Cesc next he’s our best midfielder.

Many already advocate selling Gallas & Toure our best defenders.

It’s irrational and it’s driving me crazy.

Look at Chelsea….squad of unsavoury characters. But they keep their best players. Even the likes of Terry. Drogba in the last 2 seasons has probably scored as many Premier League goals as Ade got last season.

We, we just rebuild every season. At the end of the season, we’ll say it was because we had to rebuild the attack after Ade left….

I hope we really don’t have to say that.

  461. One of the things with Eto’o is that next summer he is available on a free and can then command far higher wages. Indications are that he is content to sit tight and play the waiting game, pretty sure that he is going to get a fair number of games at Barcelona next season.

    YW

  462. Not sure Chelsea’s a good comparison. They won the FA Cup last year and were in the CL final the year before. Instead of sacking their players, they seem to sack their managers. Lastly, I know probably even a bigger proportion of Chelsea fans would be more than fine with Drogba being gone. Certainly Chelsea’s been trying to upgrade striker this offseason, but have failed (thankfully).

  463. ArseChicago,

Drogba has been offered a new contract.

What are you saying? That if we don’t win the FA Cup or make the Cl final the season before, you can sell your best players?

  464. You are clearly deluded if you think my comments were made to ‘DEMAND APPRECIATION’ as you put it.

I made the point quite clearly that i posted it to share it with people than i talk to on here on a regular basis.

You can call it a sissy issue all you like, but the facts are –

You attributed comments to me that i did not make

You aimed childish, rude comments at me in order to ‘DEMAND APPRECIATION’ of your amazing wit and humour

And now, you cannot even apologise to it, which to me illustrates the kind of character you really are.

  465. Oh, and by the way – you could of very easily avoided me carrying on with my ’sissy’ issue.

I thought someone of your higher level of intelligence and wit might of worked that out by now…

  466. I’m saying a very large group of Chelsea supporters speak of Drogba in the way a lot of Arsenal supporters are speaking about Ade. The way which is clearly unnerving you to no end.

Your point was that we should all look at Chelsea and all the turmoil and learn from their fans who are putting up with it, right? If not, then I misunderstood your point, suggesting we “look at Chelsea”. I’m saying part of the reason their fans are apparently putting up with their cast of unsavory characters is that they’ve technically won silverware in the last four years, while we have not. Winning something, anything, can be quite a salve. Maybe if we’d have won the FA Cup this year (why didn’t we start Arshavin against Chelsea????), there wouldn’t be this army of Ade detractors? Probably not, there’d still be detractors; I think there’d be fewer, though.

  467. Matt,
What are you upset about? I noticed you were getting angry yesterday, but I didn’t see that Ateeb had written anything offensive.

  468. And while Chelsea have offered Drogba a contract, they’ve apparently gone after the likes of Pato at Milan. As you know, the fans aren’t the ones extending contract offers.

  469. Not you Gris Gris, apart from ’stat padding’ which G4E pointed out. It was actually Caligooner with his talk of ‘offence’ amongst other abominations.

OK Ateeb and Matt. You win. Fight it out.

  470. Ding! Ding!

  471. Fine, Matt. I apologize for attributing comments to you that you didn’t make.

  472. You losing your bottle, OG?

Matt, you are fine, a real star. Stop beating yourself up.

Most important, Arsenal are fine. AW is in control.

  473. The real supporters are full square behind the manager and squad. All the others are fuckers.

  474. Do you need a work permit to work in Manchester. Uuurghh, fancy working in Manchester anyway. What a fucking dump.

  475. Frank, you truly put the “cultured” into Cultured Left Foot.

  476. Quite simple really Pol.

Rightly or wrongly, i posted about Adebayor yesterday morning.

Ateeb then attributed some negative comments about RVP to me, that were in fact posted by a doomer.

He then proceeded to compare me to said doomer, and tried to ridicule my posts and make me look silly, as he continues his role as court jester of ACLF.

He could of very easily admitted me was wrong, and apologised, but no, he continues with his weird conclusion that i posted purely to demand appreciation.

I admit that i am probably making far too much out of it, but at the same time, I do not like being told what i can and can’t post by anyone other than Yogi.

I was originally being light hearted about the apology, but since Ateeb has continued with his silliness, i admit that i have getting a bit irritated.

  477. NO!

My point is that even teams that have the most unsavoury characters (Cashley, Terry, Lampard, Drogba, Ballack) still keeps their best players. When I see Chelsea line-up all I see is a blue sea of big-arsed yobs. Yet, their club still keeps them.

Young man (or old man), it’s we who have won nothing who don’t have the luxury. That salve claim doesn’t hold. Man poo keep their best players. Barcelona keep their best players. Liverpool keep their last players despite not having won anything.

When we won trophies, we kept our best players.

I think Arshavin didnt play in the FA Cup for the following reason:

We had just 4 fit defenders. We had to have a defender on the bench. Which meant Song had to be on the bench. Without Song, a midfield of Walcott, Denilson-Cesc-Arshavin lacks height and physical presence. To bring in height, Wenger brings in Diaby. So the question is, do you drop Walcott or RVP. Walcott scored so even hindsight doesn’t justify that one. And RVP was our player of the season, who knows what the scrap of winning against Chelsea is.

It’s much less a mysterious decision than people make out. I don’t know for sure this is why Wenger did it, but that’s a plausible reason for doing so.

  478. hi, I’m from Vietnam. Nice to visit your blog

  479. Your mojo not working, OG?

  480. See, wasn’t that difficult was it?

    I guess that will do.

Your time would be far better spent toying with all of the doomers, rather than having a pop at me.

  481. Good Grief!

  482. Apologies to all if i have been on a bit of a rant.

  483. Thank you, Matt. Ateeb’s apologised now, so I assume this episode is over. Might I suggest a hug? Better than hugging a troll, surely.

  484. Frank,

    How do you mean?

  485. This hugging lark is shit.

  486. im commenting here because im looking for ole…

im not wanting an arguement mate, im not here to gloat either…i would of been on here all day otherwise…you know how i feel about adebayor..im saying nothing….

just want your opinion on something pal…

if your around…get back to me…

  487. I was being a tad sarcastic in my previous post but one.

The episode is well and truly over, i have been getting pretty bored going on about it to be honest, although not as bored as you lot have, i bet.

4 more days until Barnet, the cold turkey is subsiding….

  488. Just because the other fucking blogs are inhabited by fucking nancy boys is no fucking reason for us to fucking change, fuck it.

  489. California Gooner: I stand by my “Ade-haters” because it was evident here and elsewhere for the past two days. There was nothing parallel to it in the past 3 years when compared to the attitude shown to Hleb and Flamini for example who hiked off for more money last year.

In a previous post I made it clear that fans alienating a valued player is decisive if and when the player has to make a choice between clubs. In common with all professional athletes, the primary motivator for a footballer and his agent is more money. Ade had a choice last year; more money from Milan or sticking with Arsenal. He chose the latter but a majority of fans turned on him. One year later he is offered more than double his wages etc. In an atmosphere of negative fans, his choice was relatively easy.

The sad thing about this saga it has exposed the Arsenal fan base for in the main being no superior to the myriad of deluded fans elsewhere.
Now that the Ade-chapter is about to close, one wonders who will be the next target of ridicule and derision if and when we have a wobble. I can confidently predict coming over the horizon with that great big bulls eye is Arsene Wenger.

  490. Call me old fashioned, but no hugs, not with other men anyway!

  491. Fuck off, JonJon.

  492. You’re not old-fashioned, Matt, just English.

  493. Here wo go three hundred 150 line comments by JonJon on Adebayor.

  494. Matt, you well and trully bored me to apologize :)

Apologies for the above comment, beforehand.

  495. I’m here Jon Jon.

Frank why do you say I’d lost my mojo?

  496. Oh dear Ateeb. Not one of those yellow circles with a face drawn on. Not you as well.

  497. It was imperative we had someone strong in the middle against Chelsea, but it was clear to many of us that even by then, AA was our best player. Quite simply you find a way to get your best player on the pitch.

But that’s a tangent. If your point was that teams with unsavoury characters do often keep them, then yeah, I wouldn’t dispute that. Not sure how you can dispute that winning things doesn’t make holding onto said unsavoury characters easier? At least for the supporters of the club?

Man U keeps their best players? Ronaldo wanted to leave and they let him. They didn’t try hard enough to keep Tevez. Who are the unsavoury characters on L’pool? I suppose if I were a supporter of theirs, I’d only really care about keeping Gerrard, Benayoun, Torres and Kuyt. Who knows, they may lose Alonso and Mascherano, the cunt.

Oh, and young man would likely work better than old man.

  498. Because I found one and I thought it might be yours, OG.

  499. It had to happen eventually.

I apologise if i bored everyone else along the way.

Right, i am off, i am taking a customer out for dinner who is a Chelsea fan.

Oh the joy of listening to him and having to be polite.

    Have a good evening all!

  500. no frank…ive been reading here all day and i think alot what has gone on is bang out of order…

i aint saying nothing…alot of you are obviously upset…

  501. Not mine Frank. Look where you kept yours to make sure it’s not yours. Mine is blue. LOL

  502. Ole..

did you mean it when you said you’d send a check to me???

dont bother mate…really…i feel abit shitty for ya…

i didnt like him and wanted rid…you dont and youve fought his corner all day…i admire that…keep the cheque mate….

thats if he goes…but it looks likely dont it…..

anyway…do you really feel we dont have enough without him???

  503. Excellent opportunity to slip something in this persons drink, Matt. If you want a little something for inducing acute diarrhoea?

  504. I don’t have one, OG. Don’t need it.

  505. There you are OG. You got a friend.

  506. JonJon

Yep £100. You won the bet. Send your email through Mean Lean if you wish if it’s announced. It seems so right now. Though I still can’t believe it because it makes no sense whatsoever to me.

Don’t see anyway Arsenal gain. Except if the player asked to leave. Maybe he did. Who knows.

    Off to dinner….

    Selling Ade was boneheaded.

  507. Good lord!

  508. What the hell has happened to this site?

  509. Don’t know. It all started when the hug idea was put forward on the table. Things haven’t been the same ever since.

  510. Fucking hate hugs.

  511. nah mate….i’ll take no pride from that whatsoever…

personally i think wenger made up his mind along time ago…and i had a feeling he was off….

    ive said that all year….

wengers not thick…and he wont be used…we all know hes ruthless when he wants to be ie pires, vieira,

it was coming……wenger has so many options upfront now… especially if we play with three attacking mids/strikers…

i dont see how he would turn down that much…

wenger likes to balance the books and still make a profit….AK cost him 15mil and TV cost around 10…

ade was the obvious choice….and dont forget we have nikki….

this year is nikkis chance to shine…..ade couldnt finish his dinner before he came to arsenal…

nikki has it in him and without ade in the side threatening to headbut him nikki will shine….we wont miss ade…we are arsenal….

this is the biggest masterstroke since anelka…trust wenger…he knows what hes doing…

  512. Except as foreplay of course.

  513. Oh here we go…only 299 comments to go, folks.

  514. chillax frank….

  515. 298 now…..but the last one was just two words? Surely that can’t be counted as a comment, given the subject’s history. That could trully be the shortest post he had written. Finger’s crossed, I won’t last another onslaught by JonJon.

  516. ateeb shut up….youve spent the last two days slagging one of your own for no reason and pissing everyone off….dont think you can redeem yourself by chatting shit to me…

  517. So Ade has betrayed Arsene Wenger’s Red and White Army for the Monopoly Money Mercenaries, I see. If it is official, I’m backing Arsene to do the job of replacing him 100 percent. Be it players we already have, or a new signing. I hope not though, I’d miss the big fella and his wonderfully styled haircuts tremendously.

  518. Now this was missed on the Radar, all day long.

The Brazilian born Croatian is hopeful that next season will see him return to his full prowess, and is grateful for a full pre-season programme.

Eduardo told the Croatian press: “Everything is great, nothing hurts me. Last week I worked with a fitness coach and physio.”

“I did all that was required and Arsenal are very pleased with my recovery”

“Every day we are scheduled exercises running with the ball. Still, we mostly work on improving our fitness levels and endurance.”

“No specific exercises are carried out for the operated ankle”

“We are leaving for Bad Waltersdorf next week, on Monday. We will play two games where I should get (playing) time in one”

  519. 297 and gloating…!

  520. Shotta, one difference between Ade, Hleb and Flamini is that Ade has a big personality and a big mouth. So, he wares both his enthusiasm and his disappointment on his sleeve. I happen to be fine with that; compared to Bendtner’s brooding arrogance, I find it refreshing. However, people who stay quiet and keep there thoughts to themselves do tend to attract less animus. I know, being somewhat vocal myself.

Ole, I guess I am an imbecile and delusional. The question of whether the goals against Derby flatter to deceive is water under the bridge. But just to explain why the critics are total imbeciles, I will give an analogy from boxing. Imagine a big, strong fighter with poor technique. He destroys his opponents, knocking them out in a round or two. Occasionally he wares down better opponents as well. But when he comes up against someone who isn’t overawed by his power, who frustrates him, he loses his confidence, runs out of ideas, and kind of gives up. Top boxer? Obviously he will have a winning record and is better than most…

anyhow, the analogy may or may not fit. As I mentioned, Ade has performed well in some very big games as well. But it does demonstrate that beating up on poor opponents really only means that you beat up on poor opponents.

Finally, for the thought that Cesc will want to leave if we deprive him of his top striker, I doubt it. Two years ago, when asked who he would like to have in his side, he mentioned Eto’o. Last year when asked who he would take home from the Spanish squad, he said David Villa. The closest we have to those two — assuming he stays healthy– is Eduardo. I think Vela will become that kind of player as well…

  521. Is it official?

Hugging is no longer the new way on ACLF?

  522. The unmentionable that everyone is so keen to mention hasn’t actually happened yet, has it?

  523. Did I say: “wares his heart”? Apologies for being a pedantic mother fu#$er who actually wants to give the impression he can spell (I can’t), I meant “wears”.

  524. Apart from pre-season starting, nothings happened!

Expect a lot of hot wind being passed.
Not sure if its good for the global CO2 emissions count.

Maybe that is the Usmanov master plan.

To get everyone associated with AFC to bore themselves to death. Then, along with his fluffy fake white cat, he can enter His Emirate, and take over the world!
Also the extra electricity being posted by idiots the world over, can’t harm the his LNG sales!

  525. Offcourse it hasn’t.

  526. Ateeb
That is fantastic news. Eduardo was a typically brilliant signing. none of us can know what difference he would have made, but instinct suggests that his injury was a crucial turning point in the season before last. He is a proven striker who scores for fun at all levels and seems loved by the fans.
I personally am a little moist at the thought of a team with him AA and RVP in it. Scary springs to mind.

  527. I know what you mean, California. I’m grossly self-satisfied as well. Annoying, isn’t it?

  528. I can’t wait for Saturday to see the team in action again. Thanks for re-posting that quote from RVP Frank – I think he’s right about positive thinking, but sadly it mostly falls on deaf ears.

  529. “Is it official?

Hugging is no longer the new way on ACLF?”

For once I have to strongly disagree with YW! That was one experiment that failed miserably. Ignore or destroy seems to be a better policy!

  530. Poliziano, your self-satisfaction is annoying, not mine! lol ;-)

  531. Well done Arsene

He realised 3 months into last season that he had made a mistake by giving Ade a new contract. His form in the first half of the season suggested ive got my money i dont give too fucks about the team. And it rubbed off on the other players.

Ade will be a failure at City because he wont have the likes of Cesc,Nasri,RVP and the season before last Helb to set up the chances for him.

Good riddance to the badge kisser.City are welcome to him

  532. I aggree Steww. I’ve always believed that we would have won the league if that incident didn’t occur. Anyways screw it, they’re all coming back to full fitness now. We’ll deal with injuries better the coming season. Alot of options everywhere on the pitch. It’s going to be an exciting season.

  533. I never was in favour of hugging trolls; but in fairness to YW, the experiment has yet to be made.

  534. A bear hug might be okay. The kind that collapses the lungs and cracks the sternum.

  535. So what are you waiting for Pz?

Arsene the troll, seems like a huggable lad.

  536. “A bear hug might be okay. The kind that collapses the lungs and cracks the sternum.”

I was thinking the same thing!

  537. Whatever way we look at it this is not good news is it. We are losing a player who scores every two games. Bendtner cant do that at this point in time. eds is yet to prove his fitness, if rvp gets injured we could be weak, but maybe Wenger has plans to play Arsh or even Diaby off a front man. But i dont like it, we will be weaker and this is not what we need.

  538. Also , its obvious city are threatening the top 4 so why fukin help them out in their quest.

  539. There’s list on Arsenal.com of some of the players who might be involved in the game against Barnet:

Almunia, Rosicky, Eduardo, Clichy, Mannone, Gallas, Djourou, Wilshere, Nasri, Denilson, Silvestre, Arshavin, Traore, Senderos and Vermaelen

  540. dukegoonem,

Yeah this is not good but we have to hope that the replacement adjusts well to our game and that more of our goals come from midfield with responsibility falling on Rosicky, Nasri, Fabregas, Diaby and Arshavin.

  541. He hasn’t gone yet, DG. And if he does he might be a double agent.

  542. Lot’s to get excited about in there.

  543. “Ignore or destroy seems to be a better policy!”

Well if Passenal says it, it must be alright.

    Thank the fuck for that!

Fuck off Arsenetakehisnameinvain, you absolute tosser.

  544. Duke,

You’ve been a bit edgy lately. The last I checked, the deal hasn’t gone through .Don’t worry, we don’t need to worry about the 4th position anymore. The other can fight for it, we’ll be going for the title. Manu and Pool, seems likely to be fighting for the 4th position. Won’t be surprised if Chelski ends up fighting for it as well, given the history of Ancelloti, when it comes to challenging for league titles.

  545. He might have very small radio transmitters in his training shoes, and clicky, sort of device attached to his cock for sending morse code messages back to Arsene, bluetooth enabled of course. This can be done surreptitiously by doing that thing that all footballers do from time to time. Fiddle with themselves.

  546. well what i will say is it will be hard for sparky to keep them all happy. Cant see Ade playing “week in week out”. with Robinho n tevez there. Im sure he wont like them apples. I can see it ending in tears. He isnt Henry who is the only one to leave the Arsenal for better times.

  547. Mark Hughes: ‘Is he sending messages?’
Other trainer: ‘No he is fiddling with himself’
Mark Hughes:’ Oh thats OK then’

  548. if chelsea lose terry the titles a two horse race between us and the dippers…..

city will get 4th ahead of the other two…my moneys on manure…..

the loss of ronaldo is too much….

  549. 297

  550. Duke Alex Frank

Arsene Knows. This hasnt just happened.Arsene has known Ade has been going a long time ago.And he has a replacement already lined up Marouane Chamakh from Bordeaux.

People were saying the same thing when Anelka left and look what happened Arsene signing the greatest player in Arsenals history

Arsenal scored goals before Ade was signed and will when he leaves.

  551. Why are you addressing that to me, person who goes under the name of our manager but isn’t?

  552. i dont think ade will be too fussed about sitting on the bench for 170k a week duke….

    he’ll sit there 5 years i reckon…..

and if citeh go for a 4 3 3 formation their gonna need at least 6 strikers….

  553. 296

  554. I disagree Frank, it’s 296 to now. Please don’t mess up the count down. We need to get this over with as soon as possible.

  555. .

  556. Now it’s 295 to go…..

  557. Mark Hughes: ‘Can you hear something clicking?”
Other trainer: ‘Yes its Ade’s cock, he says its a birth defect, it clicks a lot. Thats why he fiddles with it. Embarassment.’
Matk Hughes: ‘Oh thats OK then’

  558. FFS….294….now….ahh can’t keep up…..

  559. I think we are synched now, Ateeb

  560. If City had signed Eto”o i would have been really worried about finishing in the top 4 but not now.The signing of Adebayor means Citeh will never finish above us.I feel sorry for the Citeh fans.20 offsides every game. Its going to be so funny.Citeh you have been mugged.Ha Ha

  561. Ateeb, this is a very specialised form of accounting you are doing. Are you a fully qualified CPA/ CFA?

  562. Oh there is obviously a delay between Pakistan and London.

  563. Shotta counted 297….than you counted 297 again, so you were one digit behind. It’s 294 now and counting, unless offcourse he posts again while I write this comment, than it would be 293. Right now i am responding to your “I think we are synched now, Ateeb”. Any post of his that comes in between, will make it 293, if not than it’s 294.

  564. You counting the dot?

  565. Top 4 sure, how’d you end up on this blog?

  566. What you didn’t'? Don’t you want to get this over with as soon as possible? I’d count anything, I’d prefer 293 dots, but wishful thinking.

  567. you two are really good…reminds me abit like sesame street…..shame you werent as good when you were counting ades offsides…. 294 sounds about right.. ;)

  568. ‘.’ is E in morse code. ‘..-.’ is Er.

  569. He is a fucking winker. 292?

  570. Police in Manchester are investigating a robbery which took place today in the Eastlands area of Manchester.A Welshman carrying a suitcase containing 25m was robbed. The victim said the robber had a French accent and drove off in a car with the number plate AW 1.The car was last seen on the M 6 on the way to London

  571. JonJon you were supposed to be here to talk to Ole. Now you are winking at all of us. Whats up?

  572. 292…..yup. We’re synched now……should we be adding Fuck off while keeping count?

  573. Arsene, I get your point that Arsene will only sell if he thinks he can improve the squad, but while Chamakh could be good, I doubt he will turn out like Henry. We can not simply point to a time in the past when things worked out well and assume they will work out just as well this time.

  574. You’re on the wrong blog, top 4 sure. We’re supporting Arsenal here. That includes the players and manager foremost. ALL PLAYERS. Your funny comment might get some praise at the other blogs out there. Most of them.

  575. hi alex…ive remained quiet though wouldnt you agree???

im getting abit of stick but i aint going to bite…i think this sites had enough shit today dont you??

  576. It’s still not official last time I checked

  577. While Arsenal fans are celebrating the best bit of transfer business this summer the Samaritans are reporting a record number of calls from Citeh fans after the news that their club has signed a player for 25m who does not know the offside trap.

Today shall now be know as St Mark Hughes day

  578. I’m convinced this will only happen if Wenger has someone else already poised to sign as a replacement. It’s not like when Flam left as we weren’t in a position to say “you can only have him once we’ve got someone else sorted” to AC. I reckon there’s a fair bit going on behind the scenes aside from the obvious.

  579. if it goes through 25mils brilliant business….for a player we got for 7mil….

    wengers a genius…

  580. Sorry if any of you guys said it before but I will:
    Ole, you are a STAR!

You may well wear your heart on your sleeve at times but you at heart yo are a true gentleman.

You lost your wager, but you never lost your principles. We may have lost this battle for the hearts and minds of the “good” fans but there is sure as hell going to be war.

(Now don’t ever go f*cking hug no troll.)

  581. 291……time for me to go….someone else keep count.

Top 4 for sure, you’re hilarious. Keep going on before you get tired, and decide to switchover to another blog, where you could possibly raise a laugh. Here you’d just be told to FUCK OFF, like this: FUCK OFF

  582. California Gooner

You either trust Wenger or you dont. His success record when signing players is about 80%.The man is a genius. And at the end of the day he had the final say whether Ade went.Next season will be the year of Super Nic

  583. 290…he keeps posting while I type….clever little bugger…..

  584. Ahh the trolls are trying to evolve…..thats a f**** ugly sight…..

  585. i agree shotta..ole is a star…i think thats the best thing ive heard you say… ;)

he hasnt lost any wager…i take no pride in it…

it was two gooners debating about a player and as you know ole debates hard….

no winner no loser… only the club will benefit….25mil… sorted…

thats if it goes through…as ive said before my only worry is the medical…if citeh do a test for a broken lazybone the deal will fall through…

  586. Ateeb

I support Arsenal FC not Adebayor FC the greedy c**t can fuck off to Citeh. We dont want players who dont want to play for us.He will be a big a success as Helb was at Barca

  587. I don’t know. I miss the real miseries on here like AIC. The real maniacs like Howard. These trolls and retards from LG just don’t cut the mustard.

Not mad or bad enough. Just boring. It’s like eating candy floss or reading Dan Brown.

  588. What if he doesn’t go to Citeh. What are you going to do then? Boo I suppose..

  589. super, super nik, super, super nik, super, super nik super nikki bendtner…

    EVERYBODY

    super, super nik……….

  590. What if no replacements are brought in for Ade, if he were to go? All of you f***** are going to moan the whole season long. You all seem deluded that you’ve figured it all out. The only thing that I personally thought would’ve done good for us would have been to keep the squad together, and given them a good pre season.

  591. If no replacements are bought that is Arsene”s decision. And i back him dont you?In Arsene we trust

  592. Bob,

I dont miss them, but I’d rather have them replace these new breed of retards, that as you said are utterly boring.

    288…..

  593. Ade is out the door next out is Eboue.Wenger showed who much he wanted him by offering in exchange for Melo.

  594. i wont mind if we dont buy a new striker ateeb…we have enough replacements in house…

the season ade scored 30 goals he wasnt even first choice….it was a forced decision due to injury and dont forget dudu was well on his way to 20 in his 1st season…he missed three months of games and still scored 12 goals…..

get dudu and robin playing a full season and thats 40…. not forgetting nikkis goals….velas a finisher so he’ll get a few….and if theo plays uptop so will he….

dont forget also that we have nasri, rosicky, and AA….

we are full off goals without ade and the plus side is they’ll be few offsides….

use the money to rebuild the CM…and we are ready for wengerball again next season…none of this long ball offside shit…

  595. The most important news over the last two days has been the announcement that Tomas Rosicky is in the squad for the first pre-season game. Important for two reasons. The first is that Tomas is back. The second is that it is a fact.

  596. There was something about them though wasn’t there? Just seeing a post from AIC would get the brain working on how best to have some fun.

These wasters are just that, wasters. Best to ignore them, they are just on a wind up and have nothing to say. You might as well chat to an echo. Even AIC showed some personality.

    We are the Arsenal.

  597. Citeh front two next season Santa Cruz injured all last season and Ade 10 league goals.God thats really frightening isnt it. Give me RVP and Arshavin anyday of the week

  598. Rosicky and Eddy back to full fitness. Just how exciting is that?

  599. I have been looking forward to that for such a long time. A full pre-season too.

  600. i cant wait for next season…..rosicky and dudu…oh my gosh

theres been some great news recently…robin, our player of the season signs a new deal…rosickys in the squad at last….

    happy days

  601. And if they don’t find the lazybone…it means you were idiots?

  602. Of course they are G4E.

Unfortunately, that is the end of the story, there is nothing else. There is nothing there. Empty vessels make the most noise.

  603. Frank you say Roro

  604. ????

they aint gonna find the lazybone..it was a joke..

  605. Vermaelen could be playing. Perhaps Wilshere.

  606. Is it only online Pz, not on Arsenal TV?

  607. Mark Hughes has booked Ade into Manchester General to have a heart operation.Because last season he played with no heart

  608. Yeah, it’s only online. You might be able to download highlights.

  609. What speed is your internet connection?

  610. Sure CBob, can’t wait for Saturday ….

  611. You have 3 connection settings CBob slow, mid, and fast…you can sign up just for one month even to watch the pre-seasons.

  612. It could well be that Ade reached the point of no return with Wenger, when he headbutted Bendtner.

Also of course any one we buy will hopefully, not have to be away mid season, for some African International tournament

  613. I only get half a meg down the end of the long and winding road that leads to my door. Would that work?

  614. When Saturday Comes…

  615. Mine’s not much better. I get 600-700k. 500k should be enough. 250k is probably the lowest speed.

  616. Last year all the games could be watched live at justintv…….No chance this year?

  617. I don’t know, Ateeb. Once a stream is on the internet, it must be easy to re-stream, I would have thought.

  618. I’ll risk a fiver!

  619. Queen of Suburbia said on Sunday

“Kelsey, in all seriousness what’s the point? Some people here clearly don’t get you nor you them. Isn’t it probably best to just move on?”

How right you were, thank you for the advice.

  620. It’s only £3.99.

  621. Anyone ever catch a stream with the crazy Spanish guy filming it in his living room? It was the FA cup game against Plymouth IIRC. He kept up a weird whispered commentary throughout. Had some kind of puppet thing going on. I’m sure. Perhaps it was the cough medicine.

  622. I’m not to sure about all this talk of Man City making the top 4. To many of their signings are only there for the money, no football motivation at all. They may start well but if things don’t go to plan they will collapse pretty easily. Just because you put a big price tag on a player doesn’t make them world class.

It’s not as if Man City have a world class manager either.

If Adebayor does go I would be surprised if he was still there in a couple of seasons time.

  623. Consolsbob, AIC was and is not a troll! I think you guys are using that term way too loosely to tar anyone who disagrees. AIC was more critical of the team than you might have liked, but he always put forward well-reasoned arguments. A troll simply tries to inflame and provoke.

  624. Cannot believe all the doomers on here….. crapping themselves coz Ade might be off…. As if the club wouldnt flourish in his absence..?

    My arse!

  625. The day Wenger said he had a replacement already lined up(Chamakh) Ade”s days were numbered.

The moral of this whole story is never believe what a player and their agent says.

And anyone who thinks Barca are going to give up on Cesc is living on cloud cuckoo land,The ade transfer has proved if the price is right we will sell

  626. Top 4 for sure, comment of the day 7.57…lol.
Comments on here are so much better when there’s a bit of spark.
I’ve just bought tickets for Barnet.
    Cmon you Gunners.

  627. dave;

You are talkin shite… No offence, erm, on second thoughts…

    Cesc and Ade are two completely different scenarios;

!) Cesc is fundamentally important to the team and its chances of success.

    2) Adebayor is a quality player that we can live without.

  628. Spike, you feckin troll.

  629. perrygroves;

    You fucking doomer

  630. I didn’t mean it , Spike baby. I was being sarcarstic about your 9.54 doomer comment.

  631. Generally Arsene only let’s players go if he feels we have a replacement either within the team or he can bring someone in. He may not replace Ade directly, but instead use the existing players in a different way. We just have to wait and see what happens if he goes. I still think he’s a good player and it is not fair that he has taken most of the abuse when the team as a whole under-performed at times last season.

  632. Perry;

Thats what I thought! Thats why I responding like I did.

  633. Too sharp for me, fella.
    I think we will flourish.
    Up the Arse.

  634. passenal

The rest of the team were not given a double your money rise.Chamakh is the replacement and within 2 weeks everyone on here will be calling he the greatest thing since sliced bread and be saying Ade who?

  635. Re-reading my comment about giving them a hug, I do not believe I excluded bear hugs…

  636. Ade who?

I love peanut butter on my toasted Chamakh

  637. It still amazes me that some fans are surprised we are selling Ade. Did you not see his Football focus interview? Also he was dropped from the last 3 games of the season. He burned his bridges with the club and the fans and there was no way back.I beat he is not a city player in 2 years time

  638. Its bleedin doomer central on here these days… Oh how i pine for the good old days… Of 2 weeks ago….

  639. Its bleedin doomer central on here these days… Oh how i pine for the good old days… Of 2 weeks ago….

  640. dave – agree re: Adebayor not being at City in a couple of years. The problem is Hughes thinks because he has a huge budget it means he will be able to manage the ego’s he’s buying. Adebayor had a reputation before we signed him (as did RVP) and has had countless fall outs with his national team manager. Wenger is one of a select few managers in the league who can manage players with big or oversized egos. How will Adebayor react if he doesn’t start a couple of games?

  641. Que pasa?

  642. dave, he hasn’t actually gone yet, although it looks likely. Unlike fans Arsene does not make emotional decisions. He only lets players leave if he has a plan. I hope his plan (whatever it is) works out and I will support whoever is wearing the shirt next season, same as I did last season. I’m not rubbing my hands with glee at the prospect of losing an established player, because it is a risk, but if Arsene is willing to take that risk, I will continue to support him and the team. I am concerned that it’s actually the people who are so keen to see the back of the player who will be the first to slate the manager if the risk does not pay off, when they ought to back him fully if he gives them what they want so badly.

  643. “The rest of the team were not given a double your money rise.”

How do you know what the rest of the team were given or what Ade was given for that matter? Other players also extended their contracts last season and as for Ade’s pay rise, you only know what the media speculated.

The fact is that a striker needs supply from the midfield to score goals. If the midfield had to be rebuilt and the lynchpin was off form, it doesn’t matter how much the striker was being paid, he would not be as productive. Also, no credit was given for the number of assists he added to his game last season.

  644. Passenal;

One minute the club is slated for not paying enough to keep certain players (Im thinkin of some fella who effed off to italy, hmmm) and the next, the club gets a load of shit for doing precisely that…

Not just Ade, but the likes of Theo, RvP, Ramsey have all had their new deals questioned by some!#

    Go figure…

  645. Spike (10:25), “I love peanut butter on my toasted Chamakh”

Spike! that is very, very kinky! I thought I might have accidentally accessed the wrong board!

  646. Passenal @ 10.50. – Exactly right. There are an awful lot of fans with a selective short memory who are always in the right.

  647. CaliG;

If I have awoken something within you, then my work on here is done for the evening…

  648. Can’t get too excited ’till it’s actually confirmed, but it definitely makes you feel positive about next season, not having to suffer Ade wasting a space in the attack or on the bench. Fingers crossed !

  649. California Gooner,

The Derby argument is the stupidest thing I ever heard. And that’s even counting Howard’s posts.

    Let it go.

  650. AW will not sell ade unless he has a replacement lined up and chamack may have potential but most would agree he is not the finished article in france so he is unlikely to come and hit the ground running in the EPL.

The smart money would be on Huntelaar or Ruud Van Nistelrooy of Real as they are both available but wil want to play champ league football. RVN would be a good buy for a season or two if we choose the chamack route.

  651. [...] Is It All Ade-ing Up? When does fact become fiction or fiction become fact? The starting place for these might well be football’s [...] [...]

  652. How the hell could we support RVN the cheating scumbag. Having Silvestre is bad enough but at least he’s not a cheat.

  653. I agree on RVN. That would just be too much to stomach.

One player I would have liked to have seen come to us is Paul Scharner. Can play defensive midfield and central defence, great in the air and has publicly said he was a big Arsenal fan. Even better, he would also be a lock as our nuttiest player since Jens.

  654. silver gunner said

you have lost your mind. he wont buy either of them, he wont buy anyone.
    Ade is a prick/lazy/liar/mercenary/etc/etc

but we are weaker without him

and we will not replace him.

fingers crossed though… maybe Arsene the genius is back. or maybe its six years with nothing.

  655. Ole, Derby is gone. But it was never my point to argue on the merits of two games and six goals, as if they were the measure of the player. Rather, I was trying to convince you that not everyone who disagrees with you on Ade is an imbecile — but that’s a lost cause. So, let’s forget about it.

  656. Wenger should buy the player he publicly called a “Cheat”?

    Is that a joke?

Horse-face is exactly the player that Wenger would not get if he even plays for free.

    Principals any one?

  657. California Gooner

Ole Gunner was not calling people or their posts imbecilic because he disagreed with them on Adebayor. He was calling them imbecilic because their “arguments” were imbecilic. Prime example of this is the “goals against Derby County don’t count” argument.

  658. Ade who? there you go we have forgot about him already.Move on

  659. Great management from Wenger buy a player for 6m then sell him on for 25m and buy his replacement for 7m.I cant see Ade being a success at City as they dont have the class in midfield as we have. And the one thing we have learned is Ade will not kill himself to get the ball
Now we have 18m to buy a DM and a CH.
Can see Eboue and Toure leaving now as well
The new season cant come quick enough.Top 3 finish.City 6th

  660. Great sports blog!

I was wondering if we could exchange links. Let me know if this is possible. If you can, please let me know what you think about my sports blog as well.

    Jason

  661. Funny, doesn’t say anywhere that we’ve sold Adebayor. We might but we haven’t. I for one sincerely hope we sell none of the squad. As was proven beyond any argument the year we only signed one person, Jens, we went on with our settled and familiar squad to make history.
The feeble minded among you who want to sell sell sell and buy buy buy would do well to remember that.

  662. well, if arsene decides to sell, we can only trust him right?

  663. OKAY its confirmed. we can slate him now…

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/m/man_city/8149488.stm

  664. people may say: they are ashamed to be arsenal fans because of the way arsenal fans turn on their own players.

well, using ur own line of argument, how do you know all the man u fans loved ronaldo? even while they were winning, how can you be sure that some of them actually hate his arrogance?

and have you ever thought about the issue in this way: maybe we are ashamed that adebayor is an arsenal player?

i am not trying to incite a riot here or what, i am just saying, there are different perspectives.

whatever happens, happens. i hate the transfer window, because it is all talk, talk, talk. nothing about football. will be glad when it is finally over and the football can begin.

  665. No7 – no I’ve never thought of it that way. I’m partisan, biased in favour of Arsenal so I love and support all the players and staff associated with Arsenal. It’s because I’m a fan.

  666. What’s confirmed and by who? The medical bit is new but the rest is all old stuff reprinted.

  667. steww, no offence, but i am abit sick of all the talk about who is a fan, and who is not. i hope that i am not going to get flamed just because of my random comments. i say random, cos it just occured to me.

  668. Hydrangea, clouds, hair, shag, bus. I say those things becuase they just occurred to me.

  669. Good morning Frank you are obviously well. LOL

  670. Yaaahhhoooo!!!!! Good riddance !!!!!! Now go out the door….ur not welcome anymoreeee !!!!!

  671. Hve to say…Its a good day to be a gooner. Now that we have got rid of whatsisname..bayor, I feel good….I feel fine….lets have some wine !!!! oh yeaaahhhh !!!!! Its like a new signing ..

  672. I am very well. Saturday heralds the start of a non stop marathon of football starting with the pre-season games, taking in the EPL, the CL, the ACN which I enjoy, even more so this year as it is a prelim to the World Cup, the Carling Cup, the FA Cup, the World Cup itself….all interwoven with youth teams and reserves league games and cups…and then there are the ladies. Lets see how they do without Vic.

  673. What are the pictures like on Arsenal on line, do they keep freezing and buffering.

    Is it worth buying

    info please

    Cheers

  674. @stew

Confirmed that he went for a medical.

Meaning then that he is leaving. Medical, sign contracts, unveiled< he might even be with them for pre-season now..

  675. anyone checked out Ade’s Wiki page ?? It already says he is an ManC player !!!!

  676. Anyone can update a fucking wikipedia page.

  677. If Adebayor joins Citeh over the next day or so and joins the team in South Africa, it demonstrates that someone at that club has a real marketing brain. Arrive in South Africa and show off the African Player of the Year.

  678. We have had people on here before who have updated ‘wiki’ pages and then referenced them as ‘proof’ of ‘fact’.

  679. ATVO’s fine. The live feed’s always good, and it’s not just preseason games you can watch; you get twenty-odd reserves matches as well. Plus there’s highlights for every fixture, from u-18 to first team.

One of my favourite things are the press conferences, which you can watch unedited. AW is a smart, funny man, and he knows just how to play the hacks.

  680. “is the press conferences”

  681. Agree with OoU. Since Kroenke is really into broadband services I wonder if the demise of Setanta may be the green light for some imgainative use of technology by AFC. ‘Self sustaining and self sufficient’…should be the motto for the Arsenal of the future.

  682. “OKAY its confirmed. we can slate him now…”

Now? Don’t make me laugh, he never had a chance since he was slated from day one even the season he scored 30 goals wasn’t enough for some. He’s better off away from that type of ’supporter’.

Frank/OOU – I’m hoping Arsenal will start using the online service more so I don’t have to pay a subscription to the likes of Sky. I’d rather the club gets the money without the middle-man getting a share.

  683. After all the criticism for the ill conceived ‘brochure’, I have to commend Arseblog for a much more considered and reasoned post today.

  684. I expect one of your mates has already ‘updated’ it, Bops, you moron.

  685. OOU, I had info/ about Arse online last night with Pz. I get very poor BB here, only half a meg. I am no technophile, would the picture quality still be good?

  686. steww

Ade is in Manchester to have a medical because he is not going to join City.Get a life. He”s Gone

  687. @Passenal….

I meant unanimously. Some of us stuck with him, promising we would slate him only when he changed badges for that fake blue…

  688. Hi CB,

I’m not sure at all; I’m a techno-dunce. I don’t even know what speed I have. My girlfriend dealt with all that here, internet-wise. Spanish + internet jargon would have been way too much for me.

Can you stream matches from Justin tv? If so, then I think you’d be OK.

Frank/Passenal, that would be great. As a supporter, it would be wonderful to bypass Sky.

As a viewer, I can only accept Arsenal-centric opinion anyway. And there could be so many cool features if the audience is only made up of supporters for one team.

  689. It just starts to form the pre-season thing. Maybe wenger is realy thinking about the 4 3 3. 0r the 4 2 3 1, both of which dont favour Ade so much as the 4 5 1 and 4 4 2

We probably wont be so dependent on the wing games so much… ahhh for saturday to arrive…

    Pre season!!!!!!!!!!

  690. Ha Ha!

Ade is gone and Ray Parlour called him a lazy twat!

  691. Everyone relax, we dont need Adebeyor. Super Nik Bendtners time has finally come, watch him fly this season……

  692. Woops, first paragraph made no sense!

Plus I’m not some kind of oaf lazing about in a white vest. We share most jobs, but the language barrier means I’m best leaving technical stuff to my partner.

    -

    Ade hasn’t gone anywhere yet.

  693. CB; hal a meg is not very fast for streaming video. You will get a stream but it may buffer alot.

  694. Oneofus, he has gone but we dotn need him anyway

  695. who nicked my ‘f’ there

  696. We dont need Ade, we have super Nik

  697. I’m pissed off that Ade is going… I really wanted the team to stick together… I wish him all the best. All those haters should now be satisfied.. bloody fools.

  698. nice post, this is very informatif opinion about PPC and internet makerketing, thank you

  699. Yes I agree with PZ. Arseblogs article on Adebayor today is a good one.

  700. I don’t agree with all of it though. Our so-called supporters have not exactly covered themselves in glory either. If we are going to level the word lazy at Adebayor, then we might refer to some of our support this year as a mixture of passive and malevolent. Not a nice combination.

  701. I think Huntalaar would be a great signing. Also I know its crazy but maybe get Pat V back as a player / coach / motivator type role, I’m sure he’d love to work with Arsene again. Anything to stop him going over to the other place, I dont think I’ll be able to handle that

  702. But i see Rosiscky is lined up for the preseason games? so is Senderos…

  703. Arsene wants to work with people who want to play for the great arsenal. End of…
