Men Can’t Help Acting On Impulse
There was an advert many moons ago for a woman’s perfume – Impulse – which basically when worn made the lady in question irresistable to the opposite sex. Cesc must be wearing something similar because to coin a Robert Palmer song, he is simply irresistable to the major Spanish clubs. Fear not about Real Madrid. Despite the obvious linking by the British media, they have admitted that their splurge is over until they raise funds. Huntelaar’s €20m move to Stuttgart gets them through some of the shortfall which sort of squares that circle.
Over at the Camp Nou, Laporta is feeling the pinch. Envious eyes cast in the Madrid direction mean that he has to do something and whilst David Villa is his main aim, Cesc is his pet project. The Red Tops here are desperate for Cesc to leave, not because they hate him, simply that they gorged themselves on Ronaldo’s move and now need another fix, as well as having umpteen more stories about Arsenal in crisis to run. For Barcelona, this is more about being seen to be doing something. Inactivity is the enemy in the summer and when your closest rivals are spending money like it is going out of fashion, that enemy becomes more dangerous.
With Presidential elections next summer, Laporta can ill-afford Real stealing a domestic march. Pep Guardiola has the right idea, apparently concerned about how long he will last having won the treble last season. In England, that would mean a job for life. In Spain, it keeps you employed until Christmas. Sandro Rosell has used the media to suggest he will bring Fabregas which for Laporta is a highly risky business. If he tries and fails, it gives Rosell a boost before next summer. If he tries and succeeds, how does Guardiola employ all of the midfield men? Easy actually, since Samuel Eto’o won’t be at the Camp Nou, they can revert to 4-4-2.
We’re The Sweeney Son And We Haven’t Had Our Dinner
Incoming at The Emirates is Sebastien Bassong who has apparently had enough of Tyneside, the new Channel 4 soap opera. He awoke to see headlines that he was a wanted man, relieved to discover that it was Arsene who wanted him and not Regan and Carter. Reports earlier this week suggested he would stay if Shearer became manager. That had moved on yesterday to him definitely wanting out, with a fee of £12m suggested. With the current penchant for swap deals, maybe a Philippe Senderos will halve that cost.
I Can Move, Move, Move Any Mountain
A brighter season ahead cannot start quickly enough for Tomas Rosicky. Apparently, he was fit enough to play last season towards the end of April but the club did not want to risk it. Understandably he was frustrated by it all but perhaps that extra delay has meant the injury – whatever it was – has been able to heal more fully than having to withstand the stress and strains playing competitive football brings?
I am missing the competition. Playing alongside Cesc Fábregas and Theo Walcott makes you feel comfortable and I think that I will quickly forget that I have been out for a while. Now that I have recovered, I am a new option for the manager. We have a strong team capable of moving mountains in all competitions
Undoubtedly, the pressure is on the attacking midfielders to deliver. I cannot recall Arsenal having such strength in depth in these positions before. Certainly, if they are all fit, absences such as the four month’s Cesc was missing last season will be more than adequately covered. Arshavin, Rosicky, Walcott and Nasri are all vying to keep the Spaniard and one of Song / Diaby / Denilson company on a regular basis.
The crucial part will be keeping them all fit. If that happens, the positive thoughts of van Persie, echoed by Rosicky, can be turned into a reality and bring home the silverware that players of these talent should be winning.
Play nicely and enjoy your day. ’til Tomorrow.

Like the positive vibes YW, thats the way it should be.

Play nicely! I see the parallels in your life!
Can I repeat what I wrote in the previous thread? Which is….
So here’s some more (Spanish) nonsense….
“Ribery was a player we were interested in at a logical price but Bayern don’t want to sell, said Laporta.
“If they are interested in selling, we are interested in buying but if not, then we will look to Fabregas.”
a) Either they are teasing Bayern, or b) they must be blissfully unaware that strangely enough, Arsenal too, are not interested in selling.
c) How flattered would Cesc feel about being sought after Ribery?
“…….But after last season we only need small adjustments – a left back, a central defender, a midfielder and a forward.”
d) So that is what a small adjustment looks like, now that Real Madrid have shown us what large adjustments are…

Sorry to see you go Blackstock. If you reconsider, do come back. You have always been worth reading.
PZ and Ole make good summaries asto why posting here is different. The quality of the blog is another good reason.
When I first read the posts here, Frank caught my eye too. Like some others seem to initially, I saw him as a bully and thought he dominated the site detrimentally. It didn’t take long though to see that that was a very shallow view. Others never get past that first impression, or pretend not to. Frank is no bully. He just hates all those who don’t love The Arsenal.
Bloody good show!
As for the other sites, I don’t care about any ‘blog war’, I just take them as I see them. If they contribute to the attacks on our club then they are worthy of the contempt that they recieve. Why shouldn’t they be opposed?

I think Cesc has had enough in all honesty of all the specualtion linking him to Spain. No amount of media hounding will make him get up and leave because the amount of lies they have published him saying has probably annoyed him some what. He will go when he wants to and when he decides he has given all he can to the Arsenal. I think Cesc wants to leave after repaying Arsenal, repaying Wenger, and bringing us fans some glory. That is the time i think Cesc will be happy to end his time with us. He will tell us when that time comes, hes a very honest and smart chap as we all know.

Maybe Wenger and Arsenal should write to them and warn them not to mention any of our players or our club in line with their elections. If they continue to we will not be undertaken any future talks in regards to player transactions. Something polite that inexplicitly says “shut the fu*k up”

ChrisGoona – I agree with what you say but also think that you need to consider Cesc’s position. At Arsenal he is captain and the first name on the team sheet, at Barca he would have Xavi and Iniesta in front of him. He loves Arsenal and obviously holds Wenger in very high regard but Barca is his home team. He will go but not until he is guaranteed a starting place, if he moved at the moment he would also be putting his international career at risk.
By: Marc on July 10, 2009
at 10:52 am
ChrisGoona – Maybe we should tell them that every time they mention one of our players, even though they can’t talk about it the price will go up by £1 million. When they put a bid in for Cesc and are quoted £1.4 billion they might think before they speak next time.
By: Marc on July 10, 2009

Your penultimate paragraph raised a very good point. Players like Cesc, Rosicky, RVP should be winning silverware and they’ll be desperate as hell. These guys will be burning to prove that they are as good as the players winning trophies and they are.
The flipside is it can make them tense, and play with too much eagerness.
By: Ole Gunner on July 10, 2009

I think the only way is to threaten them… why should we allow them to continue creating such a fuss over our players.
I know having interest in our players from Barca and Madrid means that we are doing something right, maybe it increases their market value too. We dont need to sell though, not our best players anyway… they should respect that, you dont hear Wenger saying i would love to have Yaya every week do we.
Everyone seems to think we can be bullied into selling players, the truth is that has never happened. They always went if Wenger didnt want them and saw that their best years were past them, or they didnt want to play for the club anymore.

I think its pretty simple for our management to overcome this situation once and for all. All we have to do is send them a warning…
Dear you basta*d Barca cun*s
We would like to politely say the hounding of Cesc and many of our other top players is starting to get on our TITS. We advise you to not mention any of our players anymore to the press so we can concentrate on playing football.
If you carry on we will continue to sell you crap and worn down players … take Hleb as an example as ‘crap’, and we will make sure that any future Henry’s never step foot in the Camp Sh*t ever again.
Good luck in the coming season when we hope to embarass you in the champs league, and the signing you wished you signed comes back to haunt you.

The desire is definately there mate, after watching the last great Arsenal team they must be hungry to grab some success of their own.
4 years in long enough, we have been kicking on the door very hard.
Champs League FINALIST
Champs League SEMI FINALIST
Carling Cup FINALIST
FA Cup SEMI FINALIST
Premiership leaders for whole campaign untill end
Let me rephrase what i just said, we have actually been BANGING on the door of success. Those that choose to sum us up by saying “you aint won anything in 4 years”… it could very easily been another story.
I prefer us being the underdogs anyway, like when Henry left. This time though we are alot stronger, we have been through the ups and downs, our squad is mentality ready for any challenge now.. after seeing Eduardo’s leg break, narrowly losing out in the league, suffering many many injuries, having the entire press doubt us….
I bet there is a huge desire to win.

Top post again YW
In that Barca feel that they can tap they can tap our players at will, maybe we too can do the same to them. We can link ourselves to Valdes (Headline: Arsenal Need Fabiansky Understudy) Iniesta (Headline: Iniesta has Arsenal DNA) Puyol (Breaking News: Gallas: I would love to Partner Puyol at Arsenal)
A taste of their own medicine I say. In that we can beat them in a footballing way that they think is theirs..
This though was disturbing YW
That had moved on yesterday to him definitely wanting out, with a fee of £12m suggested. With the current penchant for swap deals, maybe a Philippe Senderos will halve that cost.
You want to say that Wenger would trade Senderos for Bassong? Have you seen him (Bassong) play? Oh boy! its like giving four dollars out so as to get one Dollar in return! and adding the dude you credit card while you are at it…

YW – I may have said it before but I will say it again, you are a beacon in a storm of tabloid bloggers and media rags.
Deeds, not words – The Kelseys and the trolls from other blogs hate Frank, not because he is smart, not because he is blunt and certainly not because he is quick to say “f*ck off.” They hate him because Frank’s credentials as an Arsenal supporter are unquestionable. They know that unlike them, Frank backs up his words with action at the stadium on match-day and on the blogs before and after. That Frank will never stand idle and allow their weak-kneed, lily-livered support to undermine the players (those fighting in the trenches) by booing, coming late and leaving early. Sorry Kelsey, we already have Frank who is a million times a better supporter than those fake fans you pal with on other blogs.

At the current inflated market, think about all players who are rated at 10MILLY… Think also that Valencia costed 17MILLY…yes thats Bassong
Not very tacticaly aware, has alot of learning to do, (think Newcastle’s best player…)he is more huff and puff than skill. reminds me of Cygan… only that he is french and under 21.
For Senderos, I wouldn’t trade. If he was coming in with no trade-off fair enough.

The only time i saw Bassong was when we went to St James Park. We won i believe and could have scored a few more towards the end of the game to kill them off completely. I remember Bassong being very good in that game. Milner also caused us a few problems.
It use to be a tricky fixture of ours actually, even with our great teams. The tie which we won with Bergkamps delightful turn sticks to mind.
That has got to be the best goal ever i still reckon!

Newcastle 1-3 Arsenal
Bendtner, Diaby, Nasri the scorers were, it was the game where Almunia saved from Martins spot kick. Bassong had a blinder.

Good player, but its just not good business sense to pay his fee’s and ADD Senderos.
Newcastle have had him for a season, having bought him at 500,000 from Metz I think.
That would be better returns than what Manure made for Ronaldo, and Bassong just aynt Ronaldo

ACLF … YW’s comments and the blog discussions are in every way unique, real and original. That includes the folks who speak here, the humour, spine, friendship and character they show. I cannot imagine any other worth reading. ACLF has set an extraordinary precedent, hardly comparable. The term ‘blog war’ in this case is an illusion, it doesn’t exist. Let us just speak the truth. Arseblog seems to be ‘entertainment’, it can be fun and funny, perhaps insightful but it is not ACLF. LG is shallow, and for me shameless. There are others. Take your pick. There is choice.
I choose ACLF. It has been a fantastic experience for me to “meet” the likes of YW, Frank, Pz, Consol, Shotta, Ateeb, Passenal, Muppet, FG, G4L, Alex, Steww, Maria, QoS, PaulN, ChrisG, OOU, Marc, Mingus and many others.

I dont think we have ever signed a defender and turned them into a midfielder have we??
Lauren – RM >> RB
Gibbs – LM >> LB
Traore – did he start as a MID or DEF?
Toure – DM >> CB
Djourou – DM >> CB
There are probably more, i think Wenger does this because he likes all his players to have an attacking nature about them.
By: ChrisGoona on July 10, 2009

I wonder if the option of bringing in another midfielder means the departure of Cesc ? Certainly there are reports from Spain suggesting Barca uses Yaya as bait to get their dirty hands on Cesc.
In my opinion, if Barca came in with a formal bid, AND Cesc demands for a move at the same time, Arsenal should consider a straight swap with either Iniesta or Yaya. That should do the trick and make us no less weaker. Robin could then be Cappi.
Happy days mate.

Wenger likes players who are Very versatile. Most of the players at Arsenal can play in numerous positions.
Cesc, Gallas, Toure, Bendtner RVP… trhe list is endless – Covers almost the whole squad actualy .
The only players who are specialty masters of one area are Almunia, Ade, Clichy, Fabiansky…
By: arsenalkabisa on July 10, 2009
at 12:39 pm
Why would Cesc ask for a transfer right now?
If he moves to Barca, he would be essentially waiting for Xavi or Iniesta to get injured or leave, as they are the incumbents in his position.
Surely better to wait a few seasons, and in the meantime be captain, and play for the team with the most potential over the next few seasons in Europe.
On a more controversial note, even if Cesc did leave, we have a player who i think could more than adequately take up the mantle of central midfield playmaker – Samir Nasri.
Does anyone else think that since Henry left, AW has placed far more focus on us functioning as a team, as opposed to relying on certain players, so that if an individual leaves,it is not so detrimental to the team, and easier to replace?
By: Matt on July 10, 2009

No chance, he will only go if all parties agree: Wenger, Arsenal, Barca and Cesc. My bet is Cesc leaving after he feels he has accomplished all he can with us in England. That is yet to be done.
Right now there is no desire to part ways.
By: ChrisGoona on July 10, 2009

I personally believe Cesc will play if he were at Barcelona. I think he’s every bit as good as Xavi and Iniesta.
However, he can’t leave because Arsenal need him now. He’s just 22 years old.
It’s as simple as that.
By: Ole Gunner on July 10, 2009

I think Wenger has always tried to place focus on a team emphasis… We have never gone out and splashed the cash as such like Man Utd, Real Madrid etc. Wenger always tries to create a TEAM that functions well together. Great players form and shine because the team is playing so well. Like Ade with 35 goals when we were on top of our game…
It probably explains that when a player leaves Arsenal he struggles to gel in with another team. Our team revolves around each component working together.
E.g: 1. Pires-Berg-Henry-Vieira-Ljungberg
… 2. Hleb-Cesc-Flamini-Ade-Rosicky
… 3. Nasri-AA-Cesc-RvP-Ade-Eduardo-Walcott-Rosicky-Vela
The 1st 2 sets of players had great awareness of their team mates movement and abilities.
If we get the 3rd set working in any form near to the level they did… we have some attacking unit that will function so well and destroy anyone.

I think Cesc’s desire like Van Persie’s is stronger to succeed with Arsenal than any move away from the club.
I admit that he is very likely to go back 1 day, we cannot deny that… but i think Cesc could be with us for another 5 years before he decides hes had enough.
Its pure media manipulation

Dudu
Ros-AA-RvP
Denilson-Cesc
My preferred and rather unrealistic dream! RvP has appeared on the right from time to time.

I have thought about my first choice midfield and attack if everyone was fit, and it is a real problem! (a good one though!).

I still feel bad about leaving out Nasri, Eduardo and Theo!

Yap Rosiscky’s ball winning slide tackles and Before you can say OMG, its full throttle attack
Click click Click click Click click Click click …
….Free Kick on the left against pompey, Glen Johnson is making a one man wall, realises cesc has already taken the free kick short, the ball has already been passed to Rosicky, Glen abandons the wall and tries to sprint to Rosiscky, fails, and goes to fetch the ball from the back of the net…

I thought about Diaby too, and he could well be the real surprise this season. One those, if he comes out his his shell it will be explosive. I find it hard to leave Dudu out because what he lacks in pace and height he makes up in guile and cleverness. And a cool head. I see Ade, on the whole, as most effective as an impact player. I wonder what AW is seeing now in training?
By: ZimPaul on July 10, 2009

ZP
Why not play Ade & Dudu together, i remember the run before his injury they were devastating together.
The goal at Everton springs to mind where Ade knocks it down for Dudu to acrobatically finish.
They were on fire.
With RvP back and being our main man i guess the front starting 2 will be Ade and RvP… we shouldnt expect anything other than Eduardo being gradually eased back in.
Same as Rosicky. With them all fit, anyone can stake a claim for a starting berth, its an exciting prospect.
With Nikki B knocking on the door too and Vela ready to show what he can offer…. oh yeah and Theo wanting to play up top..!!
By: ChrisGoona on July 10, 2009
at 1:15 pm
But Vela? Those glimpses of genius will become more consistent, and then what? And then Bendtner, a little more composed, and scoring, and then what? And Theo, a year older, a little more confident at beating a player, not just going past him, then what? And Nasri? And what if Eboue starts shooting well and scoring (he can already get into scoring positions) and then what?
And if Ade back to his best? OMG. What then?
Oh, the suspense.
By: ZimPaul on July 10, 2009
at 1:16 pm
I agree Zim Paul,,, id have Ade as a impact player, Eddy is just to cool a finisher and a way intelligent player to have sitting on the bench.

AW sure has his combinations to pick from now!

It’s true Ade and Dudu are a lethal combination of coolness and physical presence. Changed my mind, that would probably be first choice. Then one would look at AA to the left, RvP to the right and Cesc + Nasri or Den or diaby central. Rosicky coming on for AA would scare opposition shitless.

I don’t like Bassong and don’t want him to come here but he’s better than Swiss Tony and Sylvestre. At times he even looked better than Toure last season. Bassong couldn’t be bullied unlike Senderos who was bullied by Drogba, Obefemi Martins, Kanoute and Fabiano.
Don’t rate Senderos, he’s a flop who won’t rise again. Milan should have been great for him because of the slow pace of the game there however, they didn’t rate him either.
AW should sell Senderos before he renews his incompetence all over.

Each player brings different ingredients… we have seen how important it can prove by picking the right team for different games.
I trust Wenger to do so once again… Bendtner, Diaby, Song etc for the more physical games. Probably slight change of formation.
Arshavin, Cesc, RvP (Big game players) etc for the BIG games…
Its all about getting the right blend too.

I wonder if Aw will look at the “total season” and say let’s just keep Rosicky, Eduardo fit and well, the odd outing, and throw them in mid-December when the season is poised and its usually make or break through to January.

Which other relegation rejects do you think can grace the pitch at the Emirates next season?
By: ChrisGoona on July 10, 2009

The problem is that Dudu although a good footballer is a hot and cold striker. We need a twenty five a season job if we want to compete and at the moment I dont know where thats gonna come from. The midfield should get a few though. Here where I think our goals will come from :
Cesc – 8
Rosicky – 10
Nasri – 10
Walcot – 8
Denilson – 0
Song – 1
Diaby – 2
RVP – 15
Ed – 15
Bendtner – 4
Ade – 15
Diaby – 1
= 89 goals.
Should be enough as long as the midfeild pull there fingers out of there arses and shoot

@Bodad
The same Senderos who kept Ronaldo atbay or a different one?
Drogba has Bullied Gallas, Toure, and Sylvestre, Martins too pounced on a Gallas Blunder. Senderos met Drogba when he was THE best striker in the world. By then he was turning over most of the BESTEST defenders in the beautifull game… not just Senderos
Senderos had a few bad games, but at his best there is no better Header winner in the whole of Arsenal. He attacks the ball.
Bassong has just had one good season. How come Wenger never got him when he was at Metz? Wenger has a scouting network that would make the CIA blush..

different ‘teams’ that is
By: ZimPaul on July 10, 2009

ZP
That is most likely… We are probably going to start with :
Theo, Nasri, AA on the wings. Maybe AA or Nasri used in more advanced areas also. Rosicky brought in slowly, Vela is an option too and Eboue as back up.
Diaby/Denilson/Song/Cesc + anyone else contending in midifield. What formation Wenger uses will determine the frequency we use Nasri, Denilson, Song etc…
Up top RvP, Ade & Bendtner are likely to contend for 2 spots… with Eduardo gradually being brought back in. Maybe Theo or Vela getting an odd call up front also.
Defence seems pretty sound as long as nobody leaves. Senderos i reckon has already made his mind to go despite being in pre season.

Come on man… Bendtner – 4 !!???
Rosicky – 10!!??
Bendtner isnt a starting XI player yet and is in double figures already.
Rosicky i pray gets more than 10 appearances never mind 10 goals!
RvP & Ade will have higher expectations.
I expect Walcott to score more this season too. I think all his frightening pace and movement will pay off with the likes off AA and Cesc being fit supplying him.
By: ChrisGoona on July 10, 2009

does diaby score 2 goals or one?
Cesc 4
Rosicky 12
Nasri 7
Walcot 8
Denilson 4
Song 1
RVP 30 (The home coming!!!) Golden boot
Ed 16
Bendtner 8
Ade 22
Diaby 4

Triestan,
You have such low standards. You expect Bendtner to score 4 goals! Denilson to score none. Rosicky to score none. Arshavin to score none!
I think your target is ridiculously low!
I’d expect our main scorers to be;
RVP————–>20+
Ade————–>20+
EDS————–>15+
Bendtner————–>12+
Rosicky————–>10
Cesc————–>10
Nasri————–>8
Arshavin————–>12
Walcott————–>10
Vela————–>5+
Rest of Squad
Diaby————–>4+
Denilson————–>4
Gallas————–>6
Toure————–>4
Everybody else————–>10+
Total————–>150 in all competitions
I am setting everyone’s target at just above or around their best tallies for the club. You have to set targets around people’s best….

You mean relegation rejects like Bischoff who was virtually carried on a stretcher to London Colney for him to get treated and collect 25k a week free of charge? or Sylvestre?
I mean you think Senderos and Sylvestre are great to wear the jersey but not Bassong?
I don’t want to see Bassong wearing the jersey but the presence of Sylvestre and Senderos is a joke. Suddenly, Senderos looks great and everyone has forgotten the harm this ‘non-footballer’ has rained on this club.

Its unfair for us to target Rosicky so high, i just hope he plays. I dont think he is thinking about goals just yet.
Ur predictions seem pretty sound though.
Walcott will definately target double figures.
Same as Cesc.
RvP will look at hitting 20 marker subconsciously.
Ade will want to prove his worth once again.
Bendtner wants a 1st team spot and my money is on him improving his tally if he keeps his head down.
Edu will look at getting gametime, but we all expect him to scoring double figures if hes playing.
Its going to be hard keeping them all happy, but with the right rotation and team selections we have got alot of goals in us!

C-Bob @ 10:44 pm – I feel compelled to piggy-back on your comment to Blackstock.
My take is Blackstock’s heart is in the right place but he is a little naive about what it takes to be a supporter of Arsenal FC, today. For the past two years, at least, there has been a battle for the hearts and minds for Arsenal supporters. Raging on one side are those who believe that the club must sell its soul; go the route of big money, billionaire sugar daddys, big money transfers, win-at-all cost boring Mourinho type football, all in the name of short-term success.
On the other side are those who believe that Arsenal should commit itself to beautiful football based on diverse ownership, self sustainability and incidentally a commitment to the best footballers regardless of race or passport, i.e. the Arsene way.
Blackstock seems to believe that we shouldn’t fight for what we believe in, that we “should all get along.” Sorry Blackstock if we refuse to engage, to refute the liars, charlatans and entertainers then the honest but less aware supporters will lose sight of what is at stake. Go read the blogs to see the sneaky tactics of the Usmanov supporters trying to stir the fans against the Board and AW.
By the way: The battle between the millionaire-billionaires trying to seize ultimate control of Arsenal FC is far from over.

Your bleak perspective doesn’t surprise me, i can stoop to name calling you… but i will try explain the basic principles of having a squad.
Silvestre is BACK UP…. That means if worst comes to worst and we have 6 injuries in one area he might play!!! Do you understand that… he is BACK UP… BACK UP … BACK UP
Not every squad can have 30 internationals on top of their game.. It is virtually impossible.
Which Top CB will come to Arsenal now when we have Toure, Gallas, Djourou, Song, Vermaelen and Silvestre
Are you completely idiotic or just a Spud mate?
Sorry i name called…
The Bischoff comment… it was a risk which didnt pay off… why dont you blame Wenger for his other risks in discovering talent like Henry, Vieira, Pires, Cesc, Clichy????

Blackstock,
A really bad time to leave ACLF. Very soon the doomers will be running out of things to moan about. No more of consecutive draws, and surprising losses. We’re almost there now, the team will turn up this season. We’ll be kicking a**, all over the park. So many great players, and a really good squad depth when compared to previous years. And you’ve been a real star all this time, it is only logical that you stick around, and enjoy the doomers turn red when they run out of things to moan about. In the end it’s your decision offcourse.

As for less football being discussed. Well I’d put it down to the off season. We can only to a certain extent discuss the squad, tactics and transfer rumours. When the season gets going, we’ll be back to as we were. But as for telling the trolls to f*** off, well that can’t stop. For example, the cr** Bodad has been writing. I mean, who’d want to engage in a debate with that retard. F*** works alot better, ask Howard. G4E’s determination finally yielded results after a year of f*** offs, and humiliation.

He scored the same amount of goals as carlos tevez last yr in 6 less games and scored more than berbatov in 2 more games.

Regarding Senderos, I still can’t make up my mind. I tend to really like him, but it wasn’t just Drogba who turned him over. I was in Sevilla to watch Kanoute and Fabbiano just destroy him. Tough one, I know. What was most telling is that against strikers who were both bit and athletic he just couldn’t win a header. So, my sense is that Wenger moved him along because he felt his confidence was damaged, but I do wonder about his lack of athleticism.
On the flip side, I once saw a statistic that the team earned significantly more points per game in the PL when he was playing. That is one statistic I find very interesting. Was he simply playing against weaker opposition? Or does something less-visible, perhaps his passing from the back make up for his occasional gaffes? As I said, i can’t figure it out. I have no doubt he will have a good career, but I don’t think it will be with Arsenal.
Now — if Nando is really available — big AND athletic and skilled — I say take him instead…

Tristian leave it out. We are a young team constantly improving, sure we’ve had our set backs ; Hleb and the Flamster leaving, and a season long injury to Rosicky. But any side who lost 3 of their first choice midfield in one season would struggle.

Question, simply for specuation: is Cesc an irreplaceable once-in-a-generation type of player for us? Or could some combination of Nasri/Rosicky/Arshivin/Denilson/ and perhaps some new face (the papers are mentioning the Uber-Skilled Banega) do just as good a job?
I tend to think Cesc adds something none of the rest do– calmness, organization, the killer pass. I would be curious to know what you lot think.

“Listen people. there are those who come here to wind you up. Think about it before you respond to them”
FFS, Bob. I can’t tell a troll from a really informed blogger. I can’t judge the good ones from the bad ones. The ones who can be saved, from the ones who’ve long gone bad. It’s fuc*** confusing, I say take them all down. I see myself as a guy with a machine gun, whose tired of the war, and just jumps out of the trenches and starts shooting his machine gun like crazy. Yup. That is a weird analogy. But it’s hell lotta fun. And It’s been a week now, that many of my posts went missing because of the technical issues I had been having with the comment section here. I need to feed on some troll today. Really need to, hungry, and desperate.

Whose winding who up? What is to be achieved with all this activity? Is this activity so repulsive that people start leaving?

Pz, you shouldn’t have complicated things. It was just a DNFTT, and now there are so many ways to look at things. I think, many here like FDT and some like FODT. But all of them do it for reasons which can be justified. To some it’s just a good way to get things done, as long as the objectives can be achieved.
As for IDWTFDTA, and IDWTFOTTA, whats with that?

Well whatever activity/interaction one has with the trolls, needs to be completed as soon as possible. Their existence as a separate group is at stake now, starting from august. It is rumoured, that many of them are fearful of the Doomsday, that they believe will take place in May of next year. So, eat all you can while you can.

OK I’m going to step out of line here, think a little bit outside the box as it were.
What about if, instead of not feeding the trolls, let’s hug a troll. And no, Frank, that isn’t a cue to strangle the little buggers, let’s show them some TLC.
Let’s give these people, the less mentally able in our society, a hug. A bit of love. Instead of telling them to “Fuck Off”, let’s go, “Hey, we understand, even if you don’t”.
Shall we try? Shall we? Shall we? Let’s spread some love. It’s not easy, I know, but we’ll all feel better for it.
And, when they know they cannot wind you up, they’ll piss off that much quicker. And we can get back to debating The Arsenal in sensible surroundings that we all know and love.

Could someone throw some answers my way if they have the time and I suppose, know the answers.
What does ‘click click click’ mean? I missed how that was created. Something to do with Frank’s stall is it? God knows.
Secondly, what happened to the likes of Sul Gooner and Naga Gunner and……. shit, I have forgotten now.
On a different note, I am so looking forward to the coming season. It flicks in and out of my mind all through everyday.
There were loads of good comments today that I read and wanted to respond to at the end, and…. I cannot remember who and what was said so there was little point in me writing that.
Right, that’s it back to the chores *snore*

Mean Lean you are in the correct ball park with the ‘click, click, click’ thing. Picture West Side Story Jets vs Sharks, but these leather jacketed quiff wearing, rubber flick knife wielding gang members are Arsenal supporters on their way to the stadium.

Unless the teams who finished in the top 3 pull any major surprises before the end of the transfer window, they do not scare me. Exactly! I just do not get it. How can someone spend all day trying to slate Adebayor or Eboue when we have so many quality combinations but like I have said in the past, I think there is something fishy going on in regards to so called Arsenal ’supporters’
You cannot post negative sh*t all day every day and truly be an Arsenal supporter.
Arse21 for example, not that I agree but fair enough he is a Spurs fan who is on a wind up. It is not something that I would do myself but reading Spurs fans getting wound up could be potentially amusing
But people like Howard, Patrick, 4th the target or whoever they are claim to be Gooners and spend all day trying to put the club down doesn’t make any sense. They cannot be Arsenal supporters, I doubt that they are even on a wind up.
They are here for a reason, not quite sure why or who have sent them but they are here to cause trouble.
I best thing that can be done is to ignore their posts. But it can only work if everyone does it.
I have to say guys, this is a great blog, the best out there in my opinion. A place for true Arsenal fans. People like Chris Gooner who you can tell post from the heart, are just great to read. The enthusiasm from most on here is really therapeutic.

There’s so much talent at the Arsenal. Sometimes I wonder what so many people are talking about! Am I blighted. So in love with Arsenal I can’t see?
I was just thinking of Vela just now. Certain world class player in 2-3 years. It’s so fucking sure.
Then there’s Wishere, Gibbs, Coquelin, even Walcott to come….
Why does the world think Arsenal is in crisis. Yes, I get it. No trophy in 4 years.
But we’re in the same league with 2 of the most successful clubs ever, and one which owner has more money than the US Fed, and they’ve literally all spent like £1B, at the same time our team reached its logical end….
It’s also really not like everyone is winn ing trophies. The only team doing so is Man poo. Chelsea might have an FA Cup…but you surely dont spend £££Millions every season for the FA Cup.
Liverpool havent won a trophy in 3, not a league in 20! And they dont have the kind of talent through and through that we do.
From ladies to academy to reserves, this is a fantastic football club, from a sporting point of view. It would be completely against nature that we won’t win trophies and win them soon.
One Arsene Wenger!!!!!!

Yes, i must agree, the new season is exciting. As is every new season. It is what happens during the season that controls the emotions and divides them either into joy or despair.
If we stay pretty much injury free and we have the right players to come in and do a job, if and when, there are injuries. I’m 90% sure that it will be joy come the end of the campaign.

To put 08/09 well and truly to bed, what was everyone’s favourite Arsenal moment of the season? Doesn’t have to be a goal or anything. I’ve thought long and hard and I think mine goes to Sam Nasri. Aside from opening his account with us after about 4 minutes, him casually tripping Joey Barton as the two of them were running down the pitch just minutes after Barton had gone in disgracefully with his studs up was classic.

Vince,
That trip Nasri pulled on Barton was a sweet move, especially the way he looked the other way when he did it.
I had a lot of favourite moments last season. Too many to pick one, as for me, it was a pretty fun season. I liked it when they let Eboue take the spot kick, after he’d already scored one.
Arsene doing the dance was pretty classic too.
I really enjoy our team and find them to be a likable bunch. It’s been really fun watching them grow, ever since the carling cup final against chelsea. For a team that is in the upper stratosphere of BIG business, Arsenal are very very cool.

My favourite moment of the season was when Nasri scored his second goal against the Mancs. The move preceding the goal was simply superb but I was anxious if somebody would apply the finishing touch to make it perfect. Nasri’s drive past VDS was inch perfect.
Second favourite was Arshavin’s 4th goal against Liverpool. The way he kept pace with Walcott and then hammered the ball past Reina with his left foot was breath taking.
