Bendtner, Cesc and A Bit Of Tosh & Piffle

FA Cup Final Saturday and another dose of envy following on from Wednesday’s Champions League Final. They say that for a player, losing in a final is the worst feeling. For a supporter, I am not so sure that the same applies. It will be a truly horrible feeling watching two teams, one of which you know you should have beaten, the other you would have beaten, compete for silverware. Still, there’s always next year and best of luck to Everton, by the way.

A morning of transfer talk, the close season is well and truly upon us. First though, Nicklas Bendtner has made it clear that he wants a new contract with the club:

It is of course a priority of mine to prolong my contract, and I have never said anything else. For me it is of course sweet to receive the backing from the manager, and I hope to stay at the club for a long time.

Not so much of an immediate priority for the club, I suspect, simply because the Dane has another three years on his current deal. On the showing of the second half of the season, he is well on the way to gaining a new contract as well. By his own admission, the autumn showed little more promise than a Sunday League player. It was an honest assessment of his form that raised a few doubts. The goals at The Hawthorns though seemed to re-invigorate his reserves of self-belief – not that they were in danger of diminishing – and he put himself into positions where he could score. A quote from Samuel Eto’o summed it up,

The courageous put themselves into a position on to miss; cowards never do

Bendtner has proven that he can score at international level and domestically; he needs to find the consistency that marks out the good players from promising youngsters. Of course, to do that he needs regular playing time which may not be so hard to come by given the amount of injuries that the squad suffers.

Cesc meanwhile is the subject of a thousand misleading headlines, all linking him with a surprise move to Barcelona:

Which player would not like to play for a team like that at the moment? They are probably the best team that I have seen play in history and I have a lot friends there who are always telling me great things. Of course, you feel envy in a healthy way because of the way they play football. Everyone’s dream would be to play in a team like this.

Erm, so no he did not say the words that the headlines tell us. Oh well, a taste of things to come…

Which is more or less the stuff surrounding Gareth Barry who once more is being linked with the club, following on from last summer’s titilation before he firmly got in bed with Liverpool. This time, with noises emanating from Anfield that they want Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano to stay, Barry is apparently offering himself unreservedly to Arsenal. Umm, hmmm, OK, so he did not say anything of the sort either. A Long Hot Summer is beckoning.

  1. 1st Again today!

  2. Good double post today, your balanced analysis gives a proper perspective to things. Arguably best Arsenal blog. Thanks.

  3. I think VP is a fucking creep and what are you doing up at this hour, YW?

  4. good post..

if im honest i lot interest in the cesc ‘will he wont he’ saga a long time ago..the papers write what they want…they cant be stopped so i dont pay much attention to them

im not too sure about barry either…ive always thought he was overhyped becuase he english….

i dont know wether he’d fit our style or not…..im not one to preach about the english spine….i think its more of a case of an arsenal spine…

would barry be the solution to our problems…is he better than denilson or song….id say yes but maybe not in 1 or two seasons….only wenger knows for sure….

i guess we’ll see…..ihate it though when we are linked to every tom dick and harry…..id rather the club just went out and did the business from day one….said that was it and we could be left alone for the summer….

  5. Gareth Barry? Why, ffs?

  6. and frank…

re; your last post on the last blog…i agree…we are in for exciting times ahead with alot of the youngsters and its olny a matter of time…

i just feel there are certain areas of the team that let the side down…

it isnt for the lack of talent…the talent is there its obvious the way we play we have the most talented kids in the league….

but if we can get to fourth..and two semis playing with an average age of 23-24….imagine what we could do with a couple more older heads in there….

we give the kids the first taste of a trophy..it would be like a shark with blood….

thats one of the reasons why i consider the fa cup as important…

in a way we learn to crawl before we can walk…the fa cup is still a good trophy to win…we should go for it… give the lads a taste…and then watch us storm the league and hopefully europe…

barca proved pure football can destroy the mighty mancs…. we are almost there…but we seem to get sidetracked every year either it be with losing key players and going for the big big tophies too soon….

  7. Frank,
    I think you are jealous.
I’ve been reading this blog for years running but never had the chance to be the first reader, just got my chance in the last post and this one. So, why don’t you let me enjoy my moment?

  8. congratulations VP….

    LOL

  9. How exciting for you VP. Long may it be so.

  10. If we didn’t learn from the Flamini incidence then we may never learn, give him a new extended contract to tie him down long term, just in case he explodes next season after the departure of Ade-bye-or and we have AC, Barca & Real knocking on the door.
On the other hand I think he deserves it if you consider his potentials, improvement and number of goals scored with regards playing time and starts.

  11. Gareth Barry could not give us any improvement on the players we already have. He is also to old for our team. :)

  12. Steve still can’t access the Arsenal tv thingy.

What excatly do you type in the search section?

  13. Thanks JJ and very exciting Steve….

  14. Barry may be a bit too old for the team, doesn’t have resale value. We can get someone younger and as good for a lesser fee. Doesn’t have to be English.

  15. Maria, I just checked it on tvants and the site is not working, maybe due to end of season.

  16. VP we do not need anybody in midfield. A new CB maybe but that is all.

  17. its hard to judge what player this team needs in the centre of midfield…..we need a player that can play both attack and defence and help control the midfield if cesc has an off day….song and denilson dont really offer that just yet and im not going to mention diaby because he couldnt control his tv with the remote…!!!

i dont think barry really controls the midfeild..but id be interested to see the right foot left foot combo again that was successful with petit/vieira edu/vieira…..

maybe Veloso/cesc is a better shout???

i dunno…but diabys the weak link for me in the midfield….we have enough attacking midfielders and diabys not our best option… especially when all our players are fit…. diaby wouldnt even get on the bench…and denilson and song are better options for the holding role as they are far superior in their all round games and years younger….

if a new midfield signing is killing anyone it should be diabys spot they take…..

  18. Thanks Steve i throught it was just me again.

  19. Num-Butt

It’s ok, I know you are mad at me for calling you Num-Nut, but it wasn’t really me who came up with this name.

but as far as your question, I don’t really think it deserves an answer.

    So, take it easy Bum-Rutt….OK?

  20. Okay JJ if we have soooo many better options than AbouDiaby already at the club then why would the signing of a new player ‘kill him’ in particular.

  21. This is all a smoke screen; there is no way Wenger will sign Barry because he thinks that would kill Denilson and Song and Diaby as we all know that individuals needs are more important than that of AFC as a whole. What will happen is Barry will join Liverpool and Alonso will join Real Madrid and we will all endure the usual anti-climax at the end of transfer window day when Wenger declares that the squad we already have is sufficient.

  22. The Saint please give me tonight lottery numbers as you can see into the future.

  23. My prediction, Barry will not join liverpool, Alonso will not join Real and AFC will sign 2 new players. The last bit is already true.

  24. i was referring to the comment wenger made about killing the devopment of his players maria…..

but AA hasnt killed nasris or theos development….they still play dont they….

my point is that we are top heavy with gifted attacking players…diaby isnt the top of that list….in fact id say he was down near the bottom…especially now we have jack coming through too….

what we are missing is workhorse box to box midfeilders….we dont have many…diaby falls into neither category and as skillful as he is hes abit of an enigma….he doesnt defend that well and he doesnt attack that well…. we have better options in the team already….

if a midfeilder is to be bought then obviously he has to be better than what we all ready have….

id say everyone in the midfield apart from diaby has a spot nailed down as either a 1st choice player or a squad player….diaby..IMO is the player that would suffer…..

  25. Gladly but you don’t think I do this for free do you? My fee is 50% of all winnings.

  26. Steve,
On the contrary, I think we need a new DM to add to what we have, with either Song and Galas partnering Kolo, Senderos and Gjouro as back ups, we are good there.
Song with Kolo partnership long term will work better than any other partnership there. Song looks like a rock and overlaps well, apart from making good tackles, anticipation and physical presence, he heads the ball well too.
The matches Kolo and Song played together, there was an unusual confidence on Kolo, that’s why he kept bumping forward trying to score too knowing that Song could take care of biz in his temporary absence.

  27. Steve, as you pointed out, AW has already signed two 15 or so year olds. Why would he sign and experienced player as that would now kill them too!

  28. I have no idea why some sectors of the media are so adament that Barry should join us.

Imo he’s way behind Denilson and Song as far as skill and quality goes, he’s very, very average, and lacks the skill required to play in an Arsenal side.

The price they would want for him is ludicrous as well.

    I wouldn’t touch him with a barge-pole, and at a guess, I’m pretty sure AW wouldn’t either.

  29. My dream wish is to see AW experiment with the Barcelona 4-3-3 system that demolished Man U recently. That would actually make me very excited about our chances for the first time in a long, long while. I actually think we can play regularly as a team the Barca style as we have the resources to do that if we get Barry and a solid experienced defender. Well, I can dream can’t I?

  30. VP all this talk about DM is crap. We play attacking football. The only reason Denilson and Song formed a DM last season was because of Cesc’s bad form (early season) and injury (later).

Next season with a midfield 3 of Cesc, Rosiicky/Nasri, and either Song or Denilson and then a front 3 of RVP, AA and Ade/Eduardo we will be great.

So what players do we need apart from a CB?

  31. Mike I agree, Barry is just average but being English is hyped up. His team finished 6th ffs.

  32. Steve,
I’m not actually saying that the defense doesn’t need to be strengthened, I actually believe that if we have to choose between the two I would rather prefer to add a taller, stronger and technical DM who can tackle and pass the ball well (New Viera, Diaby has dissapointed). Withdraw Song to CB, he’s doing well there and will yet improve.

  33. My first comment was a joke, VP. Dry, Sardonic. Ironic. I thought you were in the zone. But it seems not!

  34. Relax guys, cesc wont go to FCB until at least Xavi has retired or departed, he wouldn’t want to go sit on the bench because Xavi is ahead of him in terms of experience in that position, even in the Spanish national team.

  35. First of all what are you lot doing posting at this ungodly hour?LOL!Jon Jon and the saint you are too easily swayed by the media hype surrounding Barry and all this dominant midfielder talk. He maybe good for Villa but I think Diaby Song and Denilson are infinitely more gifted and effective. Diaby is an exceptional talent and easily puts Barry in the shade

Look where having a dominant defensive midfielder got Man U against Barca. if anything taking Barca as an example we did not work as hard off the ball pressing higher up or defend as a team in some games, we were less clinical at times with our finishing . Also we lost our most experienced defender at a crucial time and had many long term injuries which reduced our creative output.

Fans fail to see that teams struggle without key personal. Despite all the strength in depth crap we here all the time Liverpool are not the same without Gerrard or Torres. Chelsea without Terry and Lampard, Manure without Ferdinand and Rooney.

  36. We need a Ray Parlour type player who would work his socks off even if his talent is limited. The problem is that we have too many “talented” players and so getting stuck in and making the game ugly for the opponents isn’t there as Flamini was the last one we had in that mould. You don’t really need much talent for that and assuming you guys think Barry lacks talent, I’m saying so what? We just need another Ray Parlour type and he doesn’t need to be the next Messi or be even half as talented as Diaby; just hardworking and willing to get stuck in. Anything else from Barry is a bonus just like Ray Parlour was for us.

  37. By the way, Man U lost BECAUSE they did have a good spoiler on the day due to Fergie’s strange strategy for the day. He finally put on Scholes but it was too late; he should have put him on much earlier as Anderson was woeful.

  38. Ooops! I mean did NOT have a good spoiler on the day.

  39. Anyways, got to go do something else; smell you guys another day : )

  40. Barry may be over-priced, but he is probably under-rated by us gooners. He’s good enough to start regularly for England’s midfield and has pretty good crossing and shooting ability. His work rate is decent too.

  41. You guys are forgetting one name worth a mention in pursuit of a defensive midfielder and that is Yaya Toure. I have watched this guy play and the way he mans the midfield is amazing. I watched him play against untd in all the games they have met and takes full control.

I think this would be a kind of player Arsenal needs to add to the current squad as long as no one else leaves

  42. @ the Saint, yes, we all know that Paul Scholes is reknowned for his tackling and defensive ability.

    And I agree with Luke,
Barry is underrated by Arsenal fans. Having him would add depth (he can play in defense as well), he is good defensively, but also good on the ball. However he is not worth more than 10-12 million. 20 million as Villa were asking last year is way too much.

  43. Jon Jon,

“and what does my opinion matter to AW… he doesnt care…hes paid 6 million a year…im not…”

That in a nutshell is Jon Jon’s problem. Dont worry mate, you too can make it as manager of AFC…juande…juande.

  44. We definitely need a grafter in the team and I agree that he doesnt have to b the best dribbler of the ball , just effective at shutting down the midfield. Well sounds like another player off the radar like Sagna then. Good luck to Everton and Moyes in the FA Cup.

Sky sports just reported that Hleb wants to leave Barca due to lack of playing opportunities! Oh dear. Grass is greener and all thst. Serves him right for kissing the Barca badge like that after he left Arsenal like he was so relieved to leave. I know we shouldnt gloat in another mans suffering but Hleb has been anything but honest. Anyway someone might buy him an ice cream.

  45. My God JonJon is dull! I think the humiliation to which Ateeb subjected him the other day has backfired to some extent, as he now seems determined to outface his antagonists. He revels in the perversity of his opinions. He accuses Robin van Persie, probably among the three most effective attackers in the league this season, of inconsistency. Theo Walcott, the best teenage winger the league has seen for a decade or more, is accused of being a slow developer. Anyone who questions these bizarre opinions is immediately taxed with knowing “fuck all about football.” Moments later, the same people will be blamed, hypocritically, for their insulting behaviour. JonJon is, no doubt, an interesting specimen for Frank’s study of the freaks that clog the internet. For the rest of us, he is an unendurable bore.

  46. whatever player Wenger choose to bring in, the key word is ‘experience’ Having Barry would be a good signing but, most English players are overpriced.

  47. Gareth Barry looks good in the AV team and he has some good qualities, but I’d be really surprised if Arsene thought he had the technical level to succeed in the Arsenal team given our style of play. A player like him might be useful in some of the more physical away games, but I’m sure he would expect to start every game. Villa certainly need to lower their valuation significantly before Arsene would start looking at him.

    G4L

The injury excuse is way over worked for us. You would have realised that Barca had 3 first choice defenders missing in the CL final yet they kept a clean sheet against a strong ManUre team. So no more injury as an excuse not to win.

Can we stop talking about what is his name again Help is it? He has his quiet life in Barcelona versus the extremely bustling North London. Yes , I will laugh at his misery.

    We Are The Arsenal!!!

  49. good morning all

G4E…i have already stated that i think Barry is overhyped because he is english….i dont think hes proven as he is not a winner and i dont know how a player like barry will improve our squad….

so i fail to see how you come to the conclusion that i am swayed be the media hype surrounding barry and i have also said i dont read into what the media say too much….

Polly…how can i be dull….all i do on here is talk football football and more football and all your comments aimed at me have no constructive basis to form a converastion about football…none whatsoever….i love robin and theo but we need more from them next season…

i seem to be the centre of attention on many occasions on here because of what i say about how i feel about football…

i had a conversation last night with frank…and although frank and me dont get along i find franks comments clever and interesting because the majoity of his comments are football based and the man knows what hes talking about….

i fail to make the same judgement about you but i’ll end that there…

i will no longer respond to your comments because i feel like im going round in circles with you…

if you dont want to talk football then thats fine….but my advice to you would be before you try and offer your own opinions(insults) on arsenal..id read up our history first….it helps when you try and insult ppl…especially regarding the imprtance of the Fa cup….

  50. Barry would be a great signing i am fed up with Wenger picking Diaby a right footer as a left sided wingman.

Next season Arshavin will be in his prefered postion, the Bergkamp role so Barry would be a great replacement for him on the left. 12m is nothing for an established international we paid the same amount for Theo who was only 17

  51. The defenders that Barcelona were missing made little difference to the game, as man utd rarely attacked. The game was won in midfield. In the opening ten minutes, when the Barcelona defence was put under pressure, they didn’t look good, but they held out until the rest of the team could take control.

  52. Malaysiangunner

YW sorry did not mentioned the first time, very good post.

I full agree on Bendy, he does not hide like some others. He shoots and put himself about to get into the position to score. Now that you metioned Eto’ ,while a primadona, he did very well to turn Vidic for the first goal. He is deadly and needs a couple of half chance to make it count. I am sure Dudu will be our deadly finisher next season.

I fully agree that we give Bendy a new contract but only half way thru next season , he needs to work for it and show improvement.

We need a new experience CB as Kolo and Song will be off to the ACN , so the first half of next season if we want to start well and not like this year we need cover. Furthermore as WG get of age injury is more likely so a very good cover is needed. Silvestre is not the answer.

    We Are The Arsenal!!!

    Poliziano

Pique made and excellent challenfe to deny Park when Valdes could not hold on to the divers free kick. In the first 10 mins they were over ran from Midfield but held out. Your point that they defended higher up the field is also a case in point, they were able to adapt and win inspite of the injuries, so no excuse.

    We Are The Arsenal!!!!

  54. I don’t want you to respond to my comments, JonJon. As far as I’m concerned, the less comments you make the better. For as long as you continue to post on here, I hope to raise a laugh at your expense from time to time. That is my only interest in you.

  55. Pique was good on Wednesday. If Silvestre had played as well for us when required, injuries would not have been an excuse for us either.

  56. manutd were shit….thats why barca won…barcas players were up for it more and that goal by et’oo killed the game….ive never seen that happen to a team before in a final but it happened to manutd…..

i cant tell you why it happened…but every team has a stinker from time to time and that game was manutds stinker…..

it just shows how cups are won by ‘on the day’ teams…

  57. Let’s hope for a good end to the week and to the season by Chelsea losing to Everton today in the FAC. I don’t care how Everton will do it as long as Chelsea lose. (No disrespect to the goose.)

  58. Reasons man utd lost to Barcelona:

    1) Their central midfield is poor. Ferguson’s preference for stupid players means utd have nobody who can read the game like a Denilson, who can make interception after interception, winning the ball from teams that thrive on possession.

    2) Their central midfield is poor. A player like Denilson can go through a whole game with scarcely a stray pass. Man utd have nobody like that, and therefore lose the ball quickly to a good team.

    3) They are over reliant on the lesser Ronaldo, who is ineffective against good defenders. Puyol easily shackled him, despite being out of position and lacking pace. Ronaldo resorted to fouling, as he did against Zambrotta last season.

    4) Ferguson is unable to develop players. Berbatov was excellent for Spurs, but Ferguson has turned him into the biggest waste of money since Shevchenko. Tevez has also gone backwards since moving to man utd.

  59. I’d like to join in your praise for Bendtner, YW. Despite all the booing, barracking and negativity, he has played and gutsed his way out of a turgid period. Speaks volumes for his character.

Without making any comment on Barry’s ability, I hope AW doesn’t buy him, because I would struggle to get excited about him in an Arsenal shirt. There’s just something irretrievably dull about him. Shallow, I know, but there you go!

It’s hard to say which out of midfield and defence is a greater priority for Arsene. I’m guessing defence is, because we are short on sheer numbers there, whereas in midfield it’s more of a training issue, I think. We do have the players, but some of them need to pull their weight defensively. (Going with the Barca comparison – they exemplify the principle of defending as a team.) And our boys need to learn each other’s game a bit more and read passes and runs and intentions better.

  60. Malyasiangunner

About injuries – the way I see it, you just can’t discount the effect of injuries on our season. It’s true that Pique especially was an excellent stand-in, but that was one match. Our problem over the last two or three years is that we have been getting long-term injuries all at the same time, to players in the same positions or areas. So we have to rely on the stand-ins week in, week-out for an extended period. It’s one thing for a second-string player to come in and play the game of his life aided by a surge of adrenalin, it’s quite another thing when he has to effectively replace the first-choice player. The team, or a defence, is bound to be weakened if there are more second-string players in it, and eventually that weakness will show. So while it’s true that we should be able to cope under “normal” injury circumstances, no team could be unaffected by several key players being out of the squad at the same time. It’s not an excuse, it’s just logical.

  61. Whether Barry or any other players, there is not much point to debate or speculate. It’s a waste of time because Wenger is not likely to sign what is obvious, meaning name already touted by the media and agents.

  62. Malaysiangunner

    Fungunner

Cup games are one off, either you are up for it on the day or not, we were not for 2 consequetve semis.

But Fungunner our EPL challenge was almost effectively over after our 1st 14 games when we did not have that much injuries issues.

So our problems lies deeper than just because of injuries.

Our best player Cesc was injured for long periods when we started the 21 games unbeaten run albeit with a lot of draws.

So injuries were not the caused of our poor performance per say.

    We Are The Arsenal!!!!

  63. Malaysiangunner

    As for Barry

Provided the price is right ,he is a useful addition.

  64. MalaysianGunner,

You greatly overestimate the extent of the “make-shift” backline.

Pique was not the “stand-in” He has played in every major game this season. The “stand-ins” were Yaya Toure and Silvinho, who did pretty well. Similarly, Puyol can hardly be considered a stand-in. He would’ve played in the centre even if Marquez was fit if Alves was not suspended. Puyol has played at right back before, so it’s not like he was out of position.

Unfortunately, our depth isn’t that great, but the upside of this is we discover a player like Gibbs. The the problem was that our defence was always changing due to injuries. Barca could rotate their defence if they wanted, but most players got solid playing time together. The moment we looked like getting a back line playing together for more than a month, disaster struck.

  65. Today is so annoying, why the hell couldn’t Arshavin have started !!!! We would of eaten chellsea for breakfast

  66. Our early season defensive woes were at central defence, not due to injuries. That needed some sorting out as a team and in defence. The improvements laid the foundation for the 21-game unbeaten run. If we had been injury free, the 21 games could have seen more of the draws turned into wins. Anyway, that’s the past. Time to take a break and then look ahead.

  67. @ Malyasiangunner

I didn’t say injuries were the sole cause of our woes. I said you couldn’t discount the effect of injuries. You seemed to be saying they were of no consequence.

  68. @ Malaysiangunner

Also see Luke’s post at 1:27pm. Lack of continuity is another effect of injuries.

But paradoxically, part of the reason why we now have greater depth in the squad is because of the injuries!

  69. Injuries are an excuse? injuries are a fact!
FunGun, Injuries are the main reason for our woes, even Fergie admitted that last year. Fergie even said maybe they missed Fletcher in the CL Final – 1 Player!

    Paul N Live from Miami!

    Be Blessed!

  70. Paul N – Correction, 1 average player.

  71. I’m with you, Paul N – while I know that other things didn’t go right as well, I don’t see how ANYONE can say that our last two seasons have not been adversely and unusually affected by injuries.

  72. COME ON EVERTON!!!

  73. testing bold

  74. testing italics

  75. Yippee!!! Got it at last!

  76. If anyone is interested, I got the codes from here:

    http://www.ironspider.ca/format_text/fontstyles.htm

  77. its very true what you say FG…

very correct….injuries have played a key part in us not reaching our top level….

but this is a problem that i see could of been corrected….

now dont get me wrong im not having a massive go at wenger here…..as ive said before at the beginning of the season im positive wenger wanted to strengthen the midfield more than he did….but i believe adebayors wage demands took alot of wengers time and alot of wengers transfer money away….

but my general point is….is that the season before we dominated the PL for about 80% of the season….most gooners agree that one of the key reasons we didnt get passed the finish line was because of injuries to rosicky and dudu…who we lost for the last few months of the season……

so if the reason we stumbled in the final part of that season was because these players were out for a few months….what made wenger believe that we were going to start the season any better with the same two players predicted injured for the first few months….???

especially with hlebs and flaminis departure also….we went into the season very lightweight and it showed by losing what??? 5 in 14????

like ive said wenger must of known this was going to be a problem before the season began….yet nothing was really done to solve it….but like ive said i think wengers hands were tied with ades contract….

lets hope the same doesnt happen next season and thats why i want robins contract sorted now….

with rosicky and dudu hopefully due back too..we could get off to the flyer we had the season before….but if rosicky shows signs of injury again in the summer…i would think its fair to say wenger looks to replace him….so we dont go into the season with a key player short again??????

  78. Yes FunGun, I honestly couldnt see us losing the PL last year. I am also sure this season wouldve been different.

Lets hope we stay healthy next season!

  79. Come on, Everton! 1-0 Saha!!!

  80. @JonJon

I understand what you are saying but Wenger DID expect Rosicky to be available, on the advice of the doctors, who had finally located the real problem with his hamstring.
Plus we know that he just wasn’t able to get his preferred targets.
Also in the same interview with L’Equipe, Arsene admitted he’d underestimated how badly the team would be psychologically affected by the loss of MF and AH. It has turned out to have cost us, but I can’t slate anyone for thinking too highly of the team. And on the upside, it means that we have some young players have gained very valuable experience will stand us in good stead for the future.

  81. Whoops. Italics went a bit wrong there!

  82. italics went wrong

  83. Sorry about using your site as a practice pad, btw, YW. :)

  84. Isn’t there anything else we can play around with apart from Italics and bolds? How about a code that can make the doomer’s text dissapear, whenever you want. Or edit a doomer’s text, to make him sound stupid. Yogi must have those powers, yet he refuse to use them.

    Dex,

“Today is so annoying, why the hell couldn’t Arshavin have started !!!! We would of eaten chellsea for breakfast”

I know, mate. I can’t get over it either. I just used a blade to write Arshavin’s name on my arm. He’s a God. When he plays we’ll never lose.

    On a more serious note.

    Pz,

“For as long as you continue to post on here, I hope to raise a laugh at your expense from time to time. That is my only interest in you.”

    Hahaha.

  85. “Or edit a doomer’s text, to make him sound stupid.”

Oh, I just got it. Yogi doesn’t need to. The doomer’s are really good at that.

  86. sorry Ateeb…id respond normally but im busy watching that little cup that nobody cares about that isnt a religion in england!!!!!!

  87. yes FG you are correct again… wenger did honestly think rosicky would play 70% of the season…but he knew he would miss the first couple of months…it was a big risk…and it didnt work…

im sure next season will be different…as you say we have a group of young players with a year of PL experience under their belt now…

  88. You are thick aren’t you? Contradicting yourself by responding, while claiming to be busy. I am contradicting myself too right now, for all I should have for you is a big Old “Fu** Off”.

  89. Fun Gunner,

I aggree with you totally. You don’t have to listen to JOn JOn’s, “I aggree with you but….” statements. Well the doctor’s must have sounded pretty sure, that Rosicky would be back in time. Arsene must have thought, we have enough cover for a couple of month. You just don’t go buy a player, if you think a player is going to miss a couple of months.

  90. FG’s comment was an excellent one and worthy of a response….yours Atteb was just crap and worthy of a few lines that i type while i watch the telly..no real thought went into it..alot like the majority of your posts..

  91. You’re good at playing around aren’t you? We’ve had one like you before, are you trying to take his place? But you’re not that smart, you’ve been shown up time and again.

  92. Poliziano:

“For as long as you continue to post on here, I hope to raise a laugh at your expense from time to time. That is my only interest in you.”

haha, good one. well, my stance on jonjon the troll is to ignore him.

  93. fart4Ever – ‘Look where having a dominant defensive midfielder got Man U against Barca’

you are talking out of your behind again do you this is a football blog – do you know what football is – did anyone see a dominant DMF playing for manu in the CLF

‘Fans fail to see that teams struggle without key personal. Despite all the strength in depth crap we here all the time Liverpool are not the same without Gerrard or Torres. Chelsea without Terry and Lampard, Manure without Ferdinand and Rooney.’

again you know f*** all were ferinand & rooney missing for manu in the CLF

go and buy some ice cream as you don’t have to respond as your views and opinions are worthless as you know F*** all about football

    bottom feeder

everyone else some good points today but is not the case that we should try and keep all our current squad and look to bring in 1 and if lucky 2 players – as AW knows now with a young team losing players has a profound effect and could put us on the back foot again

  94. Num Rudd, still want to know how much RVP will get paid?

  95. Paul N – you missed the point about that – all i said was that he is a player we want to keep – so if he wants a higher wage give him that and take a risk – if Arsenal cannot match his ambition then fine cash in now and replace straight away

you need me to tell you you as you are a blind fan are we going to win PL next season with this current squad look into your crystal ball

  96. Num nuts….hehehe….

  97. Ateeb – i hope its not making you blush

  98. Whats with the penis flicking thing?
    yuck!

  99. “you need me to tell you you as you are a blind fan are we going to win PL next season with this current squad look into your crystal ball”

Yes Num Rudd, we are going to win the PL, CL, CC, FA Cup, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga 1, Ligue 1, UEFA Cup, World Cup, MLS Cup to name a few!

I would prefer believe blindly than not believe at all, you Arsenal hater you!

  100. I forgot the Euros and the ANC.

  101. And the world cup Paul N!

  102. yes Passenal
Is there a universe cup, galaxy? if there is we are gonna win those too!

  103. The only trophy we will win next season is the womens fa cup.The 18pt gap tells us all we need to know.As least Adebayor won the most caught offside in a season award for the second year running

  104. European Super Cup and World Club Cup, and Erevedise in the Netherlands

  105. So many trophies so little time. I am along with FG, ZP bring out my footie boots to close out some finals.

  106. Gooner Ted, why waste your time on here since you own a crystal ball? Why not use it to win the lottery buy Arsenal and then you can decide who we buy and sell and I’m sure we’ll win all the trophies in the world!

  107. Ernie the fastest milkman in the west

Its sad that some of our fans sound like Tottenham fans.Wait till next season.Thats what they say every year. Its as if Man Utd,Chelsea and Liverpool are going to collapse overnight. We are a long way from even challeging them.We were blitzed in the CL semi in case anyone has forgot.
We went 21 games unbeaten yet couldnt break into the top 3.

  108. At least spurs fans support their team and live in hope. There are no guarantees in life, so if you have no hope and no faith, what is the point of carrying on?

  109. Passenal

Everything i predicted at the start of the season came true.I said we would finish 4th and we did.You only had to look at the strength of our squad. We lost Flamini,Gilberto and Helb from the team that finished 3rd.So we were bound to go backwards.
Good luck to you if you are happy to finish 4th and win nothing.Im not

  110. Ernie the fastest milkman in the west

Spurs fans dont support there team they are deluded fuckers.I dont want our fans to be like that

  111. Ernie the fastest milkman in the west

Today Chelsea won the fa cup a trophy Wenger didnt think it was worth winning. We would have beaten Everton easily. Why oh why didnt Wenger pick Andre Arshavin.Fucking mental. We need to start winning trophies FFS.Not playing weakened teams in semi finals

    Benny Hill the Godfather

  112. So Gooner Ted, do you bet on the games or horses or anything? with your gift of prophesy you should be rich! can you please give me the numbers for the Florida lottery, its 6 numbers.

    You are an Arsenal Hater!

  113. This squad will not win the league next year, you dont need a crystal ball to see that. Ernie is right Arsenal fans are deluded whats worse is that you now have people like Paul who thinks that anyone who wants better players than those we have are “Arsenal haters”.

We are not 1-2% behind as AW claims, the truth of the matter is that we are 20pts behind.

We got hammered in the CL when we played a good team.

Our season ended before xmas because in reality we had no chance in the CL regardless of what spin AW gave it.

  114. Paul N – you are a deluded fan –

you thought we would win the PL without even taking into consideration all the midfield players we lost – you do not realise you need a little experience in that area

your prophcies are based on nothing but blind faith – go and jump in the fire if you do arsenal will win PL this season

ernie – i agree i cannot understand why he would not play AA in the FA cup SF – maybe because of the noises RVP was making he thought he had to play so he would sign contract – not sure maybe wenger will tell us in the coming season

  115. Num -

AW said that the reason he dropped AA was to prove to the other players they could win without him, he actually said this at the sharholder meeting.

I have heard some bollox come out of his mouth before but this takes the biscuit.

You have a player you just paid millions for, who has come into the team and been a revalation and then you bench to prove a point, that totally backfires.

  116. And do you have a problem with me being delusional?

Why do you hate Arsenal NR?

  117. migrane – that is a load of bollocks – that makes me mad

i agree – the worst thing is RVP picked up knock so he wasn’t fully fit for the games after that

it was the most common sense decision to make and AW turned it into one of the most disappointing team selection decisions of the season

  118. Numb Bum and Headache you are obviously the experts… I can see you believe your own self righteuos regurgitated twaddle. Enjoy playing with yourselves….

  119. migrane

i 100% agree with you on the FA cup comment…

ive been saying the same thing on here for weeks about that and what wenger said at the meeting and i still get jumped on for it and called a troll

some ppl just cant see it was a massive massive mistake and wenger is losing touch with the fans because of it…..

  120. Paul N – you are just compounding your own delusional sate – you think being a Arsenal fan you need to be deluded and have no concept of football – i feel sorry for you that you do not understand football – have you ever played or do you just read stats

Arsenal is the team i will support until my last breath it is now in my blood but i will voice my concerns if i feel the club i love has made mistakes

  121. If you have no confidence in the team, think all our players are crap and the manager has lost the plot, then I don’t see why you bother. Supporters support or they are not worthy of the name. If you want the team to do well you believe in them and back them. If it was only about trophies the rest of the teams outside the top four would have no supporters as they have very little chance of winning anything most seasons.

  122. Farter4Life – are you jealous – have you got nothing to play with

  123. You see Gunner4life is typical of the response you get when you point out that AW makes mistakes. Its as if people dont follow Arsenal anymore, they follow Arsene. Lets all put “we love you Arsene” shirts on and have a march to support him, the man doesnt make mistakes.

  124. Why do you cowards always post in packs? It’s no coincidence that you always turn up mob handed to take on the AKB’s. If only you put as much passion into supporting the team you claim to support.

  125. Passenal – it isn’t all about trophies – last season we didn’t win anything but we played some fantastic football

major mistakes were made end of last season i just want AW & Arsenal not make them mistakes again as we have took a step back from the type of football we played last season (it was like barca) great stuff

we need to keep our team together all of them i don’t want anyone to leave as they have played at the highest level together and gained experience

we had unexperienced players in a lot of positions now they have gained a little experience and with 1 and if 2 additions we could do very well in the coming season

  126. Passenal 7.08

thats a fair point you make but the teams outside the top four dont class the CL and the PL as their main priorities…we do….AW admitts that himself….

so when these cups are your main priorities but you get nowhere near winning them the fans are bound to ask questions….

if we want to consider ourselves chellengers for these then we need to strengthen in areas….

as long as we keep trying to develop the players….and as long as the other teams carry on buying the devloped players….we will never catch up….manutd liverpool and chelsea are not going to collapse overnight….so the chances of us catching up with the current team are small…although we play decent football…it isnt winning football….

we were unbeaten in over 20 games and still finished 20points behind our target….

we had the easiest of FA cup runs and we got beat against the biggest team we faced…

and we played average european teams and scraped through…… we even got taken to pens by roma….who beat us convincingly on their patch…. and then got found out agian by another big team….we had the weakest squad in the CL semi final teams and we have a weaker squad than the other top ….

if it doesnt change in the summer it will be the same next season too….

that isnt being non supportive…that is being realistic to the challenge that lies ahead….

  127. Wenger is deluded if he thinks this squad has potential to win the PL. Ivan Gazidis ordered him to buy Arshavin thereby saving our season. He has lost touch with the fans.

The board are penny pinching fat cats who milk fans like us.

Diaby, Denilson and Song will never be great players.

Van Persie is good but not great. He should be offered a pay as you play offer at his current salary of 35000 pounds. If he walks, so be it. My way or the highway.

By the way, did I happen to mention that I love Arsenal till my last breath and that I have been a season ticket holder since the 60′s?

  128. - and one of the loudest singers on matchdays, I imagine.

  129. Yes I am Pz. I scream my lungs out cajoling and coaxing the players. It works. The 21 match unbeaten streak was largely due to the pressure I brought to bear on the players and that french manager of ours.

  130. @Num-rudd

AW did make some mistakes, which he has admitted to. But on the other hand, he has done a whole lot right as well. If you want a perfect manager who never gets anything wrong, keep looking, because there isn’t one. Maybe some of his mistakes were avoidable, but the most you can demand of any manager is that he does what he thinks is best for the team and the club at the time. Arsene always, always does that. Not every top-class manager can say the same. At the start of last season, he made a judgment as to the strength of the team and acted accordingly. The judgment might have been wrong, but that’s how it goes sometimes. Life is like that.

Again, what are you going to do about it? Getting aeriated on a blog or on a phone-in is not going to get across to Arsene that our season was not as good as we would have liked, simply because he knows that already. The pain we feel, he feels a hundredfold. You know nothing of the burning ambition of the man if you think he doesn’t want to win trophies. He will do his best to fix what needs fixing – he may not succeed, but again, that’s football. So why not let him do his job, and let’s do our job – supporting the team and the club unconditionally and wholeheartedly through thick and thin. We’ve all got opinions about what should be done, that’s natural, but there comes a point when continually harping on about mistakes just comes over as bitching. You have to look at any manager in the round – do you support him or not? You can’t take “bits” of people and reject other bits – it all comes in the same package.

  131. @Num-rudd

Regarding something else you said earlier…
Not buying experienced players to take the place of young players is NOT an example of AW putting the interests of an individual above that of the team. Because of our financial situation, AW has had to rely on developing young players. To attract the very best young players, he has to genuinely give them a chance. Cesc Fabregas said in one of his interviews that it meant so much to him that AW would not parachute in another player who was not better than the young player, just more experienced. AW is happy to buy a more experienced player and play him ahead of a younger one if the experienced player is better – Arshavin being the most recent example. By keeping to his principles of giving kids a chance, he is protecting the interests of the club – we need those outstanding youngsters to keep making Arsenal their first choice.

  132. Queen of Suburbia

A classic example – do you think we’d have got Ramsey if we didn’t have the policies we have in place?

And btw Ramsey was magnificent vs Estonia last night.

  133. FunGunner,

You are WRONG. There are guarantees in life. If we add Hangelaand, Cana and Chiellini are you telling me we wont sweep all before us? I did my MBA and today that guarantees me a prawn sandwich on the club level.

Wenger could’nt take the honest constructive criticism that came his way at the shareholder meeting. Does’nt he know Silvestre is geriatric? He is a whole 1 year older than Ferdinand. That would certainly make him a pensioner.

Take your rose tinted glasses off and smell the napalm in the morning.

  134. WENGER PLEASE SIGN GORAN PANDEV FROM LAZIO OR VLADE LAZAREVSKI FROM POLONIA WARSAW FOR WINGER

  135. Good example, QoS – chose us over ManU.

    @Alex
    lol

  136. How is le petit Prince, QoS?
    Practising his keepy-uppies, I hope?

  137. FunG – they were obvious mistakes for a man of his class – everyone could see we were short in midfield

when the fruits of his project were due to ripen then the mistakes were made we had been patient now the project is to start again

    i support Arsenal FC -

Wenger i support as the manager of Arsenal FC but he has pissed me off with some silly rookie errors – and i can point that out i do not have follow blindly as if someone is not doing their job correctly it affects all involved

who do you support Arsenal or Wenger?

  138. I have always championed the cause of Goran Pandev. His you tube compilation had catchy music and his work rate was awesome. His engine is 400 bhp with 12 cylinders. How many players in our squad have that kind of engine? Be honest please.

  139. Num nuts is very simple In 2 days he’s been repeating the same thing. Love his determination.

    Alex,

We have no player like that. None at all, just imagine he could do for us. He’ll be Flamini on steroids. He can win atleast 48 points on his own for us next season. The rest can be achieved by Arshavin. And we win the league.

  140. @Num-rudd

“FG – they were obvious mistakes for a man of his class – everyone could see we were short in midfield”

Glad to see that you acknowledge his class!

In his opinion, the squad could cope, which is the point. Think back to the previous season, when Henry had left, along with a few other experienced players. Just like last season, people said we would suffer – and we actually did a lot better in the league than we had done for a couple of years. Both times Arsene was trusting his judgment. The first time he was right, the second time, he admits, he was wrong. But he has to trust his own judgment, because he is the manager.

“who do you support Arsenal or Wenger?”
Both. Of course. I support the club, so I support the manager and whichever players are wearing the shirt. I also happen to think that he is a brilliant manager and that our first team players are at least of EPL quality, and in some cases, super-class – as AW would say.

  141. FunG – i think you have the wrong end of the stick – i said we should not let go of any players this season as they have gained experience and they will do better next season with 1 or 2 new additions if lucky with experience

as wenger said he did not realise how losing the players we did last would affect us so much this season – showing signs of can’t see all the whole picture –

losing club experienced players then bringing in youngsters will always have a affect as they now need to gain experience – thats why we got better towards the end of the season -

now if we did the same again this season got rid of club experienced players and brought in some young guns – what would happen?

sometimes i do wonder what you blind followers do – do you watch the games

  142. Whats more. Wenger knows he can get Pandev for 10 million. I spoke to his alcoholic uncle who doubles up as his agent who confirmed that Pandev is unsettled and would kiss our badge at the first opportunity.

But will Wenger spend our hard earned money on him? You think? Do you know how many burgers I have eaten at the Grove in the last two years? Did any of that money reach our transfer kitty?

NONE! PHW smoked cigars using my quids as paper.

  143. Num Rudd,

“now if we did the same again this season got rid of club experienced players and brought in some young guns – what would happen?”

No one wants that, not us, and not you. There are no disagreements. We would like to have a couple of signings as well. Stop whining, enough. Calm down.

  144. Ateeb – we have all been doing the same – this is the issue of the moment – or do you want to discuss colours, flowers or how you blush when you see armani boxers

  145. Are you a reader of Antoine de Saint Exupéry, FunGunner?

  146. Num rudd,

I don’t want to discuss any of the above mentioned things. I don’t even know how you even came up with them. But what I know is that you’re quite irritating. And really a bore. You drag your idiotic comments too long. Please, we know where you coming from, we’ve heard that story, no need repeating it again.

  147. @Num-Rudd
“FunG – i think you have the wrong end of the stick – i said we should not let go of any players this season as they have gained experience and they will do better next season with 1 or 2 new additions if lucky with experience”

I didn’t get the wrong end of the stick. You said that Wenger had made a bad mistake because “everyone” could see we were short in midfield. You were talking about the season we’ve just had, not about next season.

AW has already stated unequivocally that he is not intending to sell anyone, and that he intends to buy one or two experienced players, so I’m not sure what you’re so worried about. He won’t rush into anything, and it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that he might alter or reverse his opinion after due consideration and analysis. However, he was unusually definite about wanting reinforcements, so I think that he is unlikely to change his mind.

  148. @ Poliziano

I read Le Petit Prince as a child and then again at A-level, so to that extent, yes.

  149. FunG – the same was said at the begining of last season 08/09 but players were not replaced – we only got AA in jan window – i just don’t want the same to happen again – but we shall see

Ateeb – sorry but that is the topic of the moment and what most of the blogs are about – can we keep squad (but get rid of silvestre) and bring in any players

ok ateeb what would you like to happen with our current squad who do you want to go and are you confident they will be replaced with quality

  150. i think we r on the right track as a team… we just need to work together..

the main difference i found between arsenal n barca in the final was ‘confidence’

  151. @chkmiaot

    Totally agree with that!

    ****
    @Num-rudd

“FunG – the same was said at the begining of last season 08/09 but players were not replaced – we only got AA in jan window – i just don’t want the same to happen again – but we shall see”

We got Nasri and Silvestre as well, don’t forget. Silvestre is good cover and Nasri is class.

This season AW has sounded a lot more definite about intending to get additions. Obviously, anything might happen, but let’s not get wound up just yet.

  152. “Let’s not get wound up just yet.”

That warning has come a few days too late for some.

  153. shotta-gunna

What is Numm-Rudd trying to prove?
    Wenger made mistakes – Yippee.
That gives Num-Rudd the right to denigate Wenger and his choices.
If Numm-Rudd has that right then we have the right to blow-off Numm-Rudd and his boring circular logic . It is old, it is stale, and takes us nowhere. So Numm-Rudd give it a break won’t you.

  154. also r style is similar to barca n they dont have a big, ugly, headless chicken runnin around clattering into ppl… they divide the defensive work..

r defense has to work together off the ball… thats it.. n not just the defenders, but the whole team..

  155. FunG – i was actually thinking you had a little sense until you said silvestre was a good signing for us – he has made more mistakes then anyone that has cost us a lot of goals and games

but we didn’t replace the most important position where experience is vital and club experience is even more vital the DMF that can help in attack as well – but water under the bridge now

you are right we shall see what players are brought in – it can’t come soon enough thou we need to make a signings quickly as we have CLQ games

  156. Shotta-gunna – i do not want to be blown-off by you thank you very much

what is your point – let me know -

  157. DOOMER GUIDE

    good – average

    (2-0) win – luck

(3-0) win – bit of luck

    (0-2) loss – sack Wenger

(0-3) loss – sack the board

  158. Didn’t we just get to the semi-finals of the Champions League?

  159. Shotta-gunna – i do not want to be blown-off by you thank you very much

what is your point – let me know –

    error

  160. I’ll print out that list, Muppet, and keep it by my computer.

  161. muppet – what are you then a doomer or blind follower?

  162. @chkmiaot
“also r style is similar to barca n they dont have a big, ugly, headless chicken runnin around clattering into ppl… they divide the defensive work..

r defense has to work together off the ball… thats it.. n not just the defenders, but the whole team.”

Yup. That’s what Wenger has been banging on about for the whole year, isn’t it?

    ***

    @Num-rudd
I will assume that your remark about Silvestre is you clutching at straws. I said he was good cover. He’s scored a few important goals for us as well.

We haven’t missed Flamini as a DMF primarily, IMO. We have missed Hleb’s and Rosicky’s defensive contribution – see chkmiaot’s comments about defending as a team – and the understanding that all three had with Cesc.

  163. Num-rudd,

I guess you think Wenger reads ACLF and will note your concern and latent love for Arsenal. Nope. Wenger’s taste in blogs is more primal. He reads a Le Grove post with his morning cuppa while furiously underlining important points with a permanent marker. The chance of him noticing you there is high. Its the only place to be.

  164. the thing is FG, many of the ‘fans’ cannot be blamed sometimes for repeating what the media goes on about all the time… they say they r not influenced by the media n make their own judgements…

    n its true… but only consciously…

sub consciously they r influenced but they dont look at themselves enough to know it…

  165. class player – anybody but Song, Eboue, Denilson”

You forgot to add, “who doesn’t play for Arsenal”

    Good list though!

  166. Yes, Muppet – forgot to say – :)

  167. Queen of Suburbia

    That’s me buggered then!

Now I’ll never influence Wenger or the board. I don’t know why I spend any money on the club, I really don’t.

Those mistake riddled amateurs don’t deserve my hard-earned!

  168. Queen of Suburbia

Prince of Suburbia is doing great thanks FG.

No keepy-uppys yet but I replaced the images in his night light projector thingy with a video of Thierry Henry’s greatest goals, so i’m hopeful.

  169. alex – pointless

FunG – but when when we had that midfield flamani, cesc, helb & rosisky did we not run rings around manu when we beat them and we ran rings round teams as how barca played – have you forgot how well we played re watch some of the games

are you a doomer because you used IMO?

did we defend as a team this season?

understanding only comes when play together – club experience – please stop and think as each blog now is making you sound dumb and i was begining to like you

  170. good list muppet… :)

  171. QoS,

I was about to not renew my season ticket but my doctor advised me to renew it. My season ticket at the Emirates he said, serves as a great vent for all my pent up frustrations, complexes and failings. I can scream all I want without fear of retaliation and he said that is vital for my continued well being.

  172. @QoS

    Yay! Subliminal images. Genius.

  173. FunGunner,

If you dont reform your opinions about the club and players pronto, the affection that num-rudd has for you will be at stake. Think about it.

  174. im still hurting from watching the chavs lift the cup….

they are a joke team…didnt deserve that at all….

101 managers in 2 years and spent more money on the team than we paid on the stadium….

jokers….theres only one true team in london and it aint them

  175. QOS – and he scored some great goals – i have a dvd with all his goals – the greatest

which is your favourite TH goal?

  176. testing

    Num-Nut
    Num-Butt
    Bum-Rutt

  177. JJ – worse still C*** cole has 5 fa cup medals – i can’t watch any other team unless Arsenal are playing them – how do you put yourself through that torture

    Arsenal are that team

  178. Are you a masochist jj? Why else keep watching it? You don’t have to you know.

  179. Ernie the fastest milkman in the west

There are some on here who want Arsenal to carry on not winning trophies. Why else would anyone believe this present group of players have a pray of winning the premiership next year?It is fucking crazy,If we dont go out and buy 4-5 players we will be fucked again next season

And dont give me that shit that buying experience will kill the young players.Just look at the effect on the team the signing of the experienced Arshavin had on the team.

The worshipping of square ball Denilson on here just shows how much some fans have lowered their expectations. He would even have got on the bench in 2002/04

I even read someone say we didnt have a bad season. WHAT!!!! Out of the title race in october and thats not a bad season

  180. Farter4E – your back all gassed up – have you got a point today or you just trying to be a poet

    tut – tut
    mut – mut
    zum-zum

this is kind of fun dum cum sum

  181. @Num-rudd

Are you just trying to pick a fight for the sake of it?

Chkmiaot and I were saying that Barca are like a more confident version of Arsenal.

We also made the point that we had not defended as a team – that’s what Barca do and that’s what I meant about Flamini not being missed per se.

Of course the understanding in midfield will get better the more they play together – that is hardly worth saying.

Nobody has said the football wasn’t better on the whole last year. But we ran rings around ManU in the league this year as well. A win and a draw compared to a win and a loss last year.

“please stop and think as each blog now is making you sound dumb and i was begining to like you”

Why so aggressive? You frequently complain about the rudeness of others, but perhaps you ought to look at your own behaviour first.

  182. i love the fa cup…i had to watch it…its my end of season religion….

the chavs deserve to crumble…frank lampard deserves to be wrapped in velcro and thrown into a pit of rabid sheep….

and dont get me started on cashley…. ray parlour he isnt and never deserved to get past 3 after he left us the mobile phone loving…jemain jenas ass licking money grabbing shit sniffer….

  183. If I were you Num Num (Which is never) I would leave the humor and stay being the good disgruntled doomer you are Num Num.

  184. FunG – hardly worth saying – tell that to wenger

i will agree last season we played like barca do now for long parts – this season only in glimpses – i do not agree that we do not miss flamani

i don’t remember complaining about the rudeness of others

im not agressive im sorry you feel that way

  185. we miss flamini but when it comes to playing like barca we miss rosicky more……

imagine a midfield of cesc rosick and AA

    mmmmmm….

  186. “FunG – hardly worth saying – tell that to wenger”

You cannot be seriously suggesting that Wenger doesn’t know or believe that players gain more understanding the more they play together, surely?

As to the aggression, look at your very first post of the day.

  187. JJ – i hope rosicky is fully fit for next season and edurdo is fully fit as well and song performs as he did this season and we could be onto a winner

we have been so unlucky with injuries – next i will pray and hope that we have less next season

  188. FunG – that was just a response to Farter4E – continued from yesterday the boy likes that sort of thing as he does not have any valid points

look water under the bridge Wenger made some mistakes i hope he does not make them again

i just can’t wait for the season to start

  189. num rudd

rosicky and dudu and at least two new big names signings to keep our defensive game tight and we’ll win the league next season…

  190. JJ – that will be key the defence not sure if we have the capacity to bring in two big name players but i am open to surprises – one will do

but with a little more experience under their belts they may now defend better as a team

  191. Farter4E – does that make you a blind follower that wants to see Arsenal decline and play badly

  192. num rudd…

if we learn to use the ball better we wont need to defend as much…

too many times last season were we ineffective and not clinical enough…

alot of the games we lost we should of been up 3 nil before the other team scored…

but a defender who can defend wont hurt…just in case we havent scored after weve had the first 10 chances…and the other team get a corner or a set peice….

  193. i suppose a striker who didnt need 5 chances first would help too….

but thats were dudu should come into play…and maybe vela next season…even theo if he plays up top…

  194. Ernie – you are correct it is like some people are not even watching the games they are just looking at the stats

the table does not lie – i am not happy with 4th and 18points behind 1st -

worst is we played a poor standard of football and our defence was a shambles at times

we did score 68 goals but due to the defending we could not gain more points

and to compound all that we lost to chelsea in the fa cup sf (silvestre needs to be got rid off)

we did get throuh to SF of the CL but the blind followers will not see that we were very lucky as in the knockout stage the teams we faced had major players missing and manu 2nd leg was the lowest i have felt

  195. JJ – thats what is missing but with the experience they have gained they may be able keep the ball a little better and defend as a team

how many times have we gone 1 up on chelsea and thay come back and knock us out of a cup

  196. ………………………………………………………………..

  197. thats true numrudd..

the manutd game at home knocked the stuffing out of everyone…it was hard to take…id put it on a par with drawing with the spuds 4 all at home…

and its also true about the cup runs….we played nobody of note in the FA cup and when we did we got beat

we had an easy run in the CL and we struggled against roma especially…they beat us on their patch and we were lucky to get through

roma had 50% of their squad out injured and they were cramping up after an hour and they still clawed back from a goal deficit and took us to pens so i dont see this season as a success at all…

4th place isnt good enough anymore… uefa have changed the rules and 4th place just adds even more difficult games next season…and we have to start a few weeks earlier……

dont forget the ANC is coming up too….we need more players….or we will struggle next season…

  198. “Paul N – you are just compounding your own delusional sate – you think being a Arsenal fan you need to be deluded and have no concept of football – i feel sorry for you that you do not understand football – have you ever played or do you just read stats”

Numb Rubb, I would bet my life on it I was and am a better footballer than you!

Stats, tell me what stats do for support of the team?

“Arsenal is the team i will support until my last breath it is now in my blood but i will voice my concerns if i feel the club i love has made mistakes”

The only thing you support is your negativity about the team and the delusional thing is you think it is positive to spout rubbish and dis your team because of mistakes made! do you make mistakes? I would much rather be delusional than be a negative, pointer outer of mistakes made by Arsene, your good at that.

I can see you think you are very intelligent, you come across as someone who thinks a little too much of themselves but offers nothing constructive in terms of love and support for the team you claim to support.

I will respond no more to you..

    Blessings!

  199. shotta-gunna

Paul N, blood: yuh wasting yuh time with Numbskull and Jim-Jim. Ignore them, they will dissappear, like all the doomers.

  200. One mentality is that AW makes ‘rookie mistakes’ to quote one. And this becomes proof that he is ‘not THAT good’ and ‘needs a kick up the arse’, that he is not Arsenal, and should he move on Arsenal will be fine, ‘we won cups before him’.

AW’s actual EPL record is as follows:-

13 full seasons in control. In 10 seasons finished top 3 and 8 consecutive seasons top 2, winning 3 times. Average goal difference, as a measure of relative (defensive + attacking) strength = +38.25

The 13 seasons prior to AW, minus the season he took over, during produced the following:

In 11 of the 13 seasons we finished below top 3, and 5 times below top 6, dropping to 10th or below 3 seasons. We won twice. Average GD for the period = 19.38 half of the Wenger period (despite there being 4 more games a season).

Historially, in the 13 season Wenger era, there have only been 2 sides – Manu and Arsenal with comparable results.

There HAS been a slight “dip in form” starting with the 05/06 season to the current, but only compared to the previous 9 incredible years.

Wenger has never been outside the top 4, never had a ‘failed season’. His development strategy and the new stadium will become his crowning achievements, easily eclipsing the ‘invincibles’.

This apparent drop in performance coincides exactly with the emergence of mega-spending by Chelsea, ManU and Liverpool, literally ‘buying success’ as a strategy, and overlaps with our prudent long-term investment in a new stadium.

During this period Wenger has structured the clubs fortunes around a ‘development ethos’ (to call it a ‘youth project’ is facile and false) which will see the emergence of a new generation of many of Britain’s finest young players, alongside some of the world’s most accomplished youth.

The average age of the team is 22. We need to remember this when thinking we ‘only’ reached the last four in Europe. Arsenal is investing in its future, understanding that the ‘bubble’ will burst around highly indebted clubs, Wenger refuses to enter the ‘spending race’ to buy success.

The recent ‘dip in form’ has also brought amazing results. I mention just two. 2008, the first English team ever to defeat AC Milan at San Siro. And April to Nov 2007 – longest unbeaten run in Arsenal’s history (all competitions) – 28 matches.

There are many facts to back up the argument that there has never been a manager like Wenger in England, there is nothing to compare with his accomplishments, and Ferguson cannot match his record. Fergie is, rather, the most accomplished of the ‘mega-spending’ strategists.

That a few Arsenal fans are not proud, and do not even know about their club’s accomplishments; that they think this is ‘failure’, and want him to become like the mega-spending teams (in both financial and football strategy) OR leave Arsenal speaks volumes about the role of the media in subverting Arsenal’s development strategy which threatens vested, greedy interests. Wenger is wise enough to shut his mouth about all that.

  201. Bum-Krudd

Just because we don’t agree with your lame points doesn’t mean we are blind followers. We just don’t think the likes of you are qualified for anything other than the lame shit you spew here on this blog.

If you’re arrogant, and your Num-Ego makes you think you have the slightest bit of intelligence to asses the mistakes of a great manager like Wenger is a pretty pathetic attempt.

I believe in the manager, and like him, I believe in this squad and the players we have. We may add, we may not, it’s up to the manager and I believe he will do the right thing.

What you say here with your putty mouth means nothing, worth nothing, and only serves your fat-ass ego.

So my response to your points is a simple one:

    F*ck Off Butt-Krudd

  202. Sorry for my previous long post. But it continues!

Again dealing with facts, not conjecture, as the basis.

I see 7 reasons why Arsenal’s sojourn outside the first two is so temporary.

    1. Chelsea’s aging side must re-build soon, even if Hiddink stays. It will take a minimum of 2 years, even if they spend heavily.
    2. ManU will lose at least one, and probably two, of their most effective performers, in Ronaldo’s case should he leave, the difference between ManU and the next 3 teams.
    3. The full return from injuries of Eduardo, Rosicky, Walcott, Cesc, Gallas, Ade, Almunia will provide huge momentum.
    4. The Arsenal young ‘spine’ completed their first proper first team season (achieving the distinction of a 21 game unbeaten run, with senior players missing) – they are coming of age! Walcott, Bendtner, Song, Denilson, Vela, Gibbs, Diaby, Ramsey, Djourou.
    5. The ‘new assets’ AA, Nasri, new signings, will provide additional momentum.
    6. Already, the first of the ‘next generation’ youth are ready to gain first team experience, notably it seems Wilshere, Coquelin, Watt, Merida.
    7. A full off-season of stability, practice will make a massive difference.

None of these conditions existed a year ago. In fact, a year ago Arsenal was destabilised by Ade saga, departures of Hleb and Flamini, plus long term injury to Eduardo and Rosicky. Even so, we reached top 4 in all three major competitions.

  203. JonJon & Num-rudd. You have hogged the airtime with your duet. and had your minutes of fame. Now get going from here because you don’t belong. Bye!

  204. Great posts ZP!! You are a star.

Good analysis of the other teams, especially Manu and Chelski. Manu will be loosing, scholes, he’s come and stated that next season might be his last, due to his injuries. Giggs, despite being named player of the year, is past it. And Van der sar, as well. Take then out, and they have a midfield of Carrick, Fletcher, Oshea, and Anderson. Technically ungifted players. Moreover, you have the Tevez and Ronaldo transfer speculations.

As for chelsea, you’re right they’re aging. Abrahimovich, seems less likely to spend as he used to given the world recession. Not sure, but they didn’t really spend this january either. They will need to rebuild their team from scratch, in a couple of seasons.

    Num Rudd,

I usually leave the players transfer to Arsene, I don’t have a scouting network at home, unless you consider googling players as one. The footballing world is bigger than you think. Believe it or not, but there are players who play outside the EPL and the teams in the CL. Eduardo and Sagna were one of them. So I have little resources to suggest which player should we get. However if you really want me to play the armchair manager, IMO (lol), Ricardo Carvalho could be a good addition.

  205. Great posts ZimPaul.

I agree with Ateeb. Carvalho would be a wonderful addition. Completely wasted on the bench at Chelsea.

  206. ZimPaul,
You write some brilliant posts. Thank you.

  207. I agree those posts were great ZP – it’s perspective like that which is completely lost on the doomers. They can’t even see what is right in front of them because they are blinded by their massive egos.

Anti-Howard, I certainly hope Eboue will stay – he’s far too versatile a squad player to be let go. He is the type who will happily sit on the bench or play wherever Arsene asks him to. He is also very popular with his team mates and good for team morale.

  208. I love the smell of trolls in the morning.

  209. How do you like your trolls in the morning?

    Boiled?
    Fried?
    Poached?
    Scrambled?

    Trolls Benedict?

  210. good posts zp

    may i offer a different view…

1,,,chelsea are to get a new manager…they will start rebuilding now…they could go out and buy 5 25yr olds tomorrow and be good for another 5 years

2…even if fergie loses scholes et all…he will rebuild also…if he buys 3 big signings when they win the double…he will buy again…especially after what happened against barca…and dont forget hargreaves will be back… tevez hasnt really featured this season..so he will be no big loss…and they will get at least 70mil for ronaldo….he’ll rebuild his midfeild with that….

so both chelsea and manure wont collapse overnight…

3…nobody knows if rosicky and dudu will return fully from injury…theyve both been out a full season…its difficult to judge if they will be the same players…and gallas and ade may leave…

so we lose players also…agian having to rebuild

4…the 21 game unbeaten run proved nothing…dont be blinded by this…we played nobody of note..and when we did we lost or had 20 shots against us…and we still couldnt break into the top 3…the mjority were draws…in which we coudlnt score…so it proves nothing…and diaby hasnt come of age and rambos not featured…

5..the new assets especially AA will not stay at arsenal if we continue to not win anything…rvp is already making noises…hes been here years…cesc will not stay either if the current trend continues so we will have to rebuild just like chelsea and manure….but we depend on youth rather than the real deal so we will always be at square one….

6..the new generation of youth all wont make it with us…they are already getting noticed in the footballing world… will they be ready to stay and wait 6-7years to get into the 1st team….and if they do…we will have to waith 6-7 years until they reach their prime…

7…it wont be a full off season of stabilty…we will lose players for the confederations cup…and we will start our season early in the CL qualifiers..against a harder team than before….thn dont forget about the ACN during the season….

8..dudu robin and rosicky are still injury worries…if eboue and ade are still here we will lose them and kolo and song in the ACN….we could have 7 players out at one time during the season…. and the ‘key players missing’ excuse wont work anymore with alot of the fans because we can see it coming before the season has even begun….

we need reinforcements in the summer….not just one player… at least 2… maybe three if we want to keep our challenge alive….

the summers going to be difficult and wenger has to make the right choices because next season will be harder than the last…..

  211. You really are a twat, JonJon.

  212. thoughtful, constructive and very creative polly

much better than ZP’s excellent post…

  213. inevitable really wasnt it!! what goes up must come down…. you really are a downer JonJon, always look on the briight siiiiiide of life dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum.

  214. dum

  215. @JonJon

In the mini-league of the top 4, we came second, with 9 points out of a possible 18. Two wins, three draws and one loss. There are some cold hard facts for you. Our team, even with all the adjustments we had to make, even weakened by injuries, could compete with the other big clubs.

We can match the others right now.

Wenger has already said he intends to get reinforcements. It’s not even June yet, why so pessimistic? Chelsea, ManU and Liverpool could indeed get better or rebuild; we definitely will improve. We’re behind them in the league, not behind them in ability. Our problem was once again our record against the lesser sides – losing to, or drawing against teams that we had the beating of. That is the area where other top sides are ahead of us, not in their squads.

  216. JonJon….quick pop one of your valiums!! your slippin!

  217. @ DukeGoonem

Inevitable really wasnt it!! what goes up must come down

Too right, DG. I’ve got a theory about that.

  218. Jon jon, your post sounds some words of caution, based on conjecture (opinion) not fact.

Chelsea are in the position of the ‘older’ Italian teams, and must re-build immediately, this year. It is not a simple matter of signing players. It will take a year, minimum. And a new manager.

ManU have the advantage over Chelsea because they previously invested in gifted young players, however it is certain that Giggs, Scholes, VD Sar, and possibly Tevez and Ronaldo are gone or fading. Injuries now prove disastrous.

Neither will collapse, they will fade, the advantage has switched to Arsenal and Liverpool, who boast bigger depth. These two teams look set to dominate in future.

Where your argument chokes is choosing to ignore the consistency that has marked the Wenger period, that is the foundation, while ignoring negative circumstances of the just ended season. So you do not see what was achieved.

The telling point is the real emergence of the Arsenal ‘spine’ exactly what the D&G mob have asked for, but failed it understand it exists.

Nobody in their right minds dismisses a 21-game unbeaten run, in any circumstances, but to achieve this without senior players is momentous.

It marks the beginning of ‘Wenger Arsenal 3′.

  219. Or in short, yes, you really are a twat.

  220. thats where i disagree FG

it isnt a big four any more its a big three…..

coming fourth isnt good enough… 3rd place is the minimum requirements now…especially for easier CL qualifiyers

and coming second in the mini league doesnt mean anything….it proves nothing….

manure had the worst record in the so called mini league and won the actual league…thats the coldest hardest fact i want to look at…..

    DG…its not being a downer…its being realistic…

theres nothing wrong with being optimistic..but being too optimistic just blinds people from the task ahead next season…

its not all doom and gloom…but it isnt all roses, puppies and, fluffy tailed bunnies either…

  221. so ive concluded we arent good enough as this year as proved…

and that next season will be harder as we will lose players at a key stage of the season ‘again’

both facts …. hard and cold

and you lot conclude that im a twat…. LMAO…

  222. no JonJon the conclusion is you dont have any faith in this team and cant see the wood through the trees! you also contradicted yourself by saying man utd won the league but had a poor record aganist the big three but said we should dismiss the 21 game unbeaten run coz we played no one of note.

and read Zimpauls post again…slowly…his point about the experineced gained…oh f*ck it i cant ne be arsed!!

  223. Trolls Benedict.

  224. ………………….

  225. I like sausage and egg trolls!!

  226. correction…

i dont have any faith in the strength of the squad…

and i havent contradicted myself in any way

we went on an unbeaten run full of draws and still couldnt break the big three

manure won the league with a very impressive 90 points….

the mini league doesnt prove a thing…neither does the run

  227. with soured cream.

  228. Toasted troll sandwich and a decent expresso please.

  229. JonJon do you realize that wenger’s team’s always have one thing in common, what is it???

its called evolution. This is a new team so it will get better every season, i really cant understand your point that next season will be even harder. It will be better but you just cant see it untill it comes up and smacks you in a the face.

  230. the suns lovely today… i think i’ll wear my rose tinted specs….

  231. You do that JonJon, it will liven up the sad face.

  232. we have the ACN next season DG…we have a squad with four africans who are all 1st teamers…

    they will all go…

how will next season not be harder….

we always say we struggle because we lose key players at key times and next season we dont need a crystal ball to tell us we will lose alomst half our first team for a month….add to whatever injuries we have to the other players and god knows who many it will total up to…

its there…black and white…its not an opinion its a fact…

  233. @JonJon

You haven’t understood my point. ManUre finished 18 points ahead of us in the league. They are not 18 points better than we are as a football team. That is what the mini-league shows. They are better than us at beating teams they ought to beat. An analogy from tennis is Maria Sharapova versus Amelie Mauresmo. Mauresmo is a much better tennis player than Maria Sharapova. Sharapova’s game is limited in comparison but she virtually never loses to anyone ranked lower than she is. Therefore her world ranking is consistently high.

The “big three” are the guaranteed champions league places. I referred to the top four – as in the top four big clubs – Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man United. There is a big gap in ability between the top four as a whole and Aston Villa, but not between the top four clubs themselves.

“ive concluded we arent good enough as this year as proved…”

All that was proved this year was that we didn’t put lesser teams away as often as we should have done.

and that next season will be harder as we will lose players at a key stage of the season ‘again’”

And you can’t “conclude” something like that will happen in the future. You can only “guess”, or possibly in your case, “hope”.

  234. its not rose tinted specs Jon..last year we nearly won the league and we would have if that brummie c*nt didnt break eds leg,so as far as im concerned Wenger was doing it right. the only thing that pisses me off about Arsenal is the ability or lack of it to keep players. But we dont know the truth or who is to blame for us losing players. but if we had a fergie or jose and they couldnt keep players either would they do as well????

  235. Damn. Wrong italics code again.

  236. Doomers Family

    Dear JonJon,

We’re promoting you to full major now. Your performances for the last few weeks have been remarkable. Few other could match your wit and intelligence. You’ve completely, blown the AKB cover of delusional hope. After your comments, they’d be insane to see the roses, puppies and, fluffy tailed bunnies. But we know they will continue seeing them. That’s why we promoted you, so you have other doomers, willing to bleed and sacrifice their time for our cause to blow Arsene’s cover. We won’t stop untill we achieve our goals. We will not stop, untill these AKB’s feel the pain and misery that we go through every day. The unbareble pain of no trophy for so many years. These AKB’S should know that our whole family moaned last night, watching Chelsea lift that cup last night. A cup, we could have won, if only Arshavin the Savior had played. Jon Jon, hereby you shall continue to repeat our agenda till the end of time. You shall continue to say the same thing again and again. You shall praise Manu and Chelsea, for their trophies in the last few years. You shall praise their players and managers, and depict them as real MEN willing to die for the team they play. You shall pick and point our players, that won’t make the grade. The players, that have been mentioned in the memo, that will be e-mailed to you. You will be updated daily rather than weekly, unlike before. We will inform you of the players that we would like to see in the red. You shall, serve the Doomer family, with valor and undying love. You will not bow down, infront of insults or cheap shots aimed at us. You shall never run away from battles, but call for help from the doomers under your command. You shall be backed unconditionally by them as Num-Rudd has, for the past few days. And as a token for your services, we will be arranging a meeting with Geoff, he shall reward you with the medals, that goes with your new Rank.

    We salute you, Sir.

    Major Major Major General
    The Doomer’s Familly.

  237. ^^ lol
    Major-Doomer.

  238. FG

we didnt put the lesser teams away because we werent good enough….you lot love the stats..we’ll they stats say we finished 18 points behind our target….

11 points worse off than last year and 1 place worse of…

thats not development…thats regression and the stats would suggest its not guess work

also ive already pointed out the impact the ACN will have on our team next season

    thats not guess work either….

the ACN does exist and we will lose players..

again no guess work involved so im not really missing the point…if anyones missing the point its you lot…

  239. shotta-gunna

    Mark this in bold:
“…i dont have any faith in the strength of the squad…
“and i havent contradicted myself in any way.”

Jim-Jim has nail his mast down; facts be damned, he has no belief in the Wenger (development) project. All protestations to the contrary have just been a smokescreen to sucker ACLFers into a civilized discussion with him. The man is either paranoid or delusional and should be ignored. Leave him in his room with a box of FA Cup DVDs, better yet, some grainy black & white VCRs.

  240. What’s more JonJon, we’ll give you a prestigious command post, operation AKB Sweep. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to infiltrate several Arsenal blogs, using deep deep cover, and seek out any scumbag AKB posters. Using counter intelligence and local knowledge, you will make sure that their views do not become prevalent on the blogs.

You will be placed in a crack unit with some of our top operatives, including num-rudd, Howard, Patrick. They will serve you well. You will report to General Geoff, and you will be handsomely rewarded with the undying love of your fellow doomers.

  241. Ateeb-’I don’t have a scouting network at home, unless you consider googling players as one.’

    Priceless!

ZP- never apologise for writing such good posts.

I like the ‘development ethos’ not ‘Youth stratagy’.

Intresting this morning that GM look set to file for Chapter 11. Football’s bubble will be pricked, and then………

  242. afternoon all – i just had a ginger troll – i would advise against it – bad taste in mouth

ZP – good blog but not sure about Chelsea having to rebuild – not sure you gots your facts right on that maybe you are hoping more that they have to rebuild

JJ – good blog also – some hard truths -

  243. Does anyone have some hard truths for Numb-rod?

  244. shotta gunner

the project only works if you see results….

we are not seeing results…moreso weve taken a step back from the previous season…

so the facts suggest at this moment in time..and the previous 4 years with it….that no…project wenger isnt working….

he said at the start of the season to judge him in may…..its now may and at the shareholder meeting he said judge him in another two years

this would suggest wenger himself knows it aint working….and its going to take him two years to put it right….

and if we still dont achieve our targets of PL and CL prestigue…that would be 6 years….. would you still beleive in it then?????

i’ll tell you what….id love us to win the the PL and CL next season….really i would…obviuosly it what every fan dreams of….

but if we dont….and im still posting here and you lot turn round and use the ‘we lost key players at key times’ excuse i’ll just say your deluded…..

  245. cheers num rudd…

  246. DukeG – i agree with that point our inability to keep players

did not mind before – as we were selling for good figures and then have money for transfers – but now i can’t remember a good healthy profit from transfer – apart from Bently but thats cause Blackburn sold him to s***

  247. Jon Jon, newsflash: You are not the Arsenal manager.

While you digest that statement, the pain of planning for squad reinforcement with the aid of Pro Evo, google and you tube will disappear. The African Cup of Nations will take care of itself as will squad depth with the return of some key members of the squad.

You can not change the fortunes of AFC next season. End of newsflash.

  248. The Doomer Family

    Jon Jon,

Before you’re given the command to your post. And your first mission, we advice that you take a long break from the AKB’s blog, and report to LG, to see how they’ve affected you. This is a routine test for all Doomer’s who are promoted to a new rank. Many before you have fallen to the drawing powers of the AKB’S and later served them. This is a routine procedure, to root out any moles, or as you may know, double agents. You will report to LG 0700 sharp every day. Not only will this serve to strengthen our bond and trust with you, but it will offer you to learn new strategies and methods to spread the word of the doomers. You will be appear for examinations, time and again. This usually includes, a poll, with multiple choice questions. Past paper’s have had some very tough questions such as ” Should Eboue be sold”. But we’re sure, you’ll pass these exams in flying colours. You will be be partnering, Colonel Howard, whose been called back for recovery and medication, as he suffered serious injuries in the battlefield. We’re glad to inform you that he’s alive and well, and has been held back, so he can take part in the training activities over the summer.

In phase 1: You will be required to show unconditional support to your doomer brothers and sisters at LG. Any AKB that will not fall, will be banned. You will be incharge of editing his posts to make him look dumb. While you’r comments will be monitored, to check weather you’re still a true doomer to the heart.

Phase 2: Once you’ve passed phase 1, and declared not a mole. You’ll be put in a dark hole, where you will google players, that could play for us. You will have to search the youtube, for players, that have the animal instincts to play for us.

Phase 3: Usually starts with the poll that we mentioned earlier. It is advised that whatever your opinion, you always go for the last option that is usually marked ‘d”. However, some tricky questions will have right answers that are “a’. There after, you’ll be introduced to the higher echelons of the dooming world. You will learn new tricks, methods, and ways to insult. You will be trained to play with words, and always pretend that you’re rational, incase one of the mission involves infilitration. If you pass all phases, you’d be given a front seat in the convocation dinner. Which will be presided over by Myles Palmer as the chairman. Geoff will be awarding you the medals. And tickets will be alloted to you for the annual concert, we have hired a special singer this year. She has been part of operation Adebyebye, and has worked her magic on one our players. Her name is Beyonce.

    Goodluck.

  250. @shotta-gunna 1:29pm
You’ve hit the nail on the head.

    ***
    @JonJon
“we didnt put the lesser teams away because we werent good enough….

Again, you’re talking about consistency. I’m talking about ability. If we weren’t good enough we wouldn’t even have been in the position where we ought to have put the lesser teams away. Consistency can be attained. 21 matches unbeaten while missing virtually every creative player for the first third of that run. Only one loss since November.

The ACN is something that Wenger can and does plan for. We were top of the league during that period in the 2007/08 season. What he can’t plan for are the number of serious, long-term contemporaneous injuries to players in the same areas which have dogged us in the last couple of years. We can’t afford to be three-deep in top-class players in every position, and even if we could afford it, sod’s law would dictate that all three players in one position were injured at the same time.

There are signs that the project is working – we have a deeper squad than we did last year. We did better against the other top four sides than we did last year. We got further in CL and FA cups than we did last year. Lack of consistency cost us, not lack of ability. You can’t only look at the facts that suit you.

  251. “if…you lot turn round and use the ‘we lost key players at key times’ excuse i’ll just say your deluded.”

Of course you will, JonJon. That is what you are saying at the moment. That is all you ever say.

Man utd will be better next season, because Hargreaves will be back after missing a whole season. The return of Eduardo and Rosicky, however, will bring no improvement to Arsenal, because they are injury worries, having missed a whole season. Arsenal’s victory over Roma in the Champions League was worthless, because they had players injured. Injuries are an excuse for every team but Arsenal.

  252. @ Poliziano
    Good post.

“Injuries are an excuse for every team but Arsenal.”

    That attitude infuriates me, too.

  253. @ Poliziano

    Good post.

“Injuries are an excuse for every team but Arsenal.”

    That attitude infuriates me, too.

  254. arsenals victory over roma showed the flaws in our squad…

the had 50% of the 1st team injured and the players they did have were unwell….and falling down with cramp after an hour and they still took us to pens and beat us on the day….

manure will be better next season because they will buy….dont fall into the fact that the may lose players…they will buy like for like…injuries or no injuries they will be strong next year…

whereas we rely on youth and it doenst work…..

and what i saying is that we have no excuse next season because we know its coming….we dont see the injuries coming so we cant predict them…but we can predict we will lose players for the ACN so we cant use that as an excuse next season….

  255. FG

you cant only look at the facts that suit you….

am applying for the position of full major. pls find enclosed dvd covers of all thierry henry, bergamp goals and the invincible season of 2004. i have viewed these dvd’s in my garage for four years and realised that wenger is taking us backwards. he is a french mole who will run off back to psg next year after demolishing the english spine of arsenal.

to expose wenger, i seek a special training programme to eventually penetrate the club inside a laundry basket. i have copied that trick from mourinwho who is my fav manager. he rocks and can build arsenal without the aid of huge transfer funds. just look at his transfer record. ricardo quaresma, tel ben haim, paulo ferreira, chavchenko. va va voom.

i have heard you have insiders in the arsenal dressing room who know the psyche of all players. like howard. i want to meet that great soul. i will have tears in eyes when i meet geoff who is my hero. pls tell him to not bin me becauz i may look like an akb at first. but am not! am not!

with regardz to chairman palmer. tell him i love his taste in jazz music and chelsea memorabilia. i have read ‘the professor’ ten times and find it amazing. who is the professor the book talks about though? perhaps u will tell me that sometime.

    yours faithfully,
    agent 000 (number not assigned).

  257. @JonJon

    “exactley…. neither can you….”

For that riposte to strike home, it would have to be true. I am taking into account our league position and points total, and putting it down to our lack of consistency. You are ignoring every other fact about our season, except our league position – especially the fact that we did well against our peers.

  258. @ Alex
    lol

  259. Maybe utd will buy, maybe they won’t. Ferguson’s great at spending money, but poor at recognising good players. If he does find a good player, he usually ruins him. Wenger can get a better player for £5M than Ferguson can get for £30M. Ferguson just buys the players that are being talked about. That’s what those of our fans want who talk about “big names.”

  260. FunG – the project had worked as per last season the type of football we played

what happened we brought in players nasri – no experience – sylvestre – hopeless – AA – good but in jan too late

this season we need to bring in a couple of good players at the start of the season – but trouble is what’s been going on at the club i just don’t have faith we will be able sign the type of players we need

a couple of youngsters will be put in and it will be – deja vu

    again and again

but you never know as the hand of the maker may touch Arsenal and we will play football the likes of this galaxy has ever seen we will be unbeaten in every comp and 7 players from the arsenal team will be picked for England and they will win the world cup and and and and and faith faith faith

sorry bit about england no ones gona believe that – but you never know – deja vu

  261. Yes, it is in the nature of blog posting to write all or nothing posts, but the reality is relative.

My point is simply this: would you rather have Deco, Ballack, Carvalho, Terry, Drogba, Cech … proven or key players all susceptible to injury and age and needing replacement in 2 years, and very little coming through any system OR 18 gifted players coming through, improving, none of whom has yet reached their peak (23-27): Fabianski, Djourou, Gibbs, Clichy, Sagna, Nasri, Coquelin, Watt, Wilshere, Ramsey, Song, Cesc, Denilson, Diaby, Vela, Theo, Bendtner, Merida.

Which team is in a stronger position? Seriously?

Add 11 proven players: RvP, AA, Almunia, Eboue, Kolo, Gallas, Ade, Eduardo, Rosicky and probable 1 or 2 new signings.

Now which is team starts to look stronger?

    ditto ManU

Wenger after 8 consecutive years in the top 2, understood the need to re-build massively.

He didn’t just buy, he built a development ethos around a playing style. First harvest, tested last year (they got to top 4 of all major competitions, average age 22) is about to come in, folowed by the next … and the next … and the next.

If Wenger adds no new players he is assured of consistent top-flight results for the next decade. If he adds, it accelerates the results. But it is the process and timing that’s important.

Afterwards, when other teams try to emulate this they will begin to appreciate it takes 5 years.

  262. shotta-gunna

Whatever club you support in the world, no matter your religion or creed, there are certain basic tenets of a club supporter. The doomers like Jim-Jim, Numbskull and company have failed AFC on every count, if we should use the 10 Commandments as a guide:
ONE: You shall have no other team before your club.
TWO: You shall make no superior image of your club by another club in your league.
THREE: You shall not take the name of your club in vain. (Pretending to be a club supporter when you are not)
FOUR: Remember game day, you shall be a loyal supporter.
FIVE: Honor your club manager and players.
SIX: You shall not murder, by demeaning your club, the manager and players.
SEVEN: You shall not commit adultery – by supporting another club instead of your own.
EIGHT: You shall not steal support away from your own club.
NINE: You shall not bear false witness against your club through the media, websites and blogs.
TEN: You shall not covet a neighboring club; you shall not covet that club’s manager, players and supporters, nor that club’s staff, kit-man and tea-lady, nor anything that is that club.

  263. shotta-gunna

IMPT: Do not covet another club’s debts!

  264. ZimP – i agree it was the playing style and ethos

but that went out the window in the first half of the season and we did not pass, recieve, control and overall play was not as good as last season (don’t come back with we got to SF of cups – we played a lot better last season)

we have took a step back quote ‘my priority is to keep the squad together’ wenger 2008

now the developement will take another 1-2 years -

  265. @ ZP at 2:24pm

    Great analysis. Again!

    @Num-rudd

“FunG – the project had worked as per last season the type of football we played

what happened we brought in players nasri – no experience – sylvestre – hopeless – AA – good but in jan too late”

2007/08 was wonderful, footballistically speaking – a midfield that instantly gelled was the basis of it. No argument there.

But, please, don’t underestimate the contribution of the additions. Compare Nasri, at 21, in his first season, with that of Rosicky or Hleb or Flamini in their first seasons. Nasri has given us a lot – goal in the first game, both goals against ManU at home, and that’s just for starters.

Silvestre is perfectly good cover and he has scored and saved some very important goals. Plus, he has experience.

As for Arshavin coming “too late”, I say he came at just the right time. Maybe we could have paid £24 million or so for him in the summer, but his arrival gave the squad a big psychological lift just when they needed it. And he was considerably cheaper (leaving more money to eg renew other people’s contracts). Remember that for most of the first half of our season, our problems were defensive, not creative. Arshavin wouldn’t have helped us with that.

    ****
Anyway, that’s me done. See ya later, RASERS.

    Up the Gunners!!!!

  266. shotta-gunna

sir i have tried to obey said commandments but a passing fancy for the chelsea tea lady, developed into a full blown crush followed by an infection causing a lust for all their players and mourinwho.

what recourse do i have now that i pine for that club everyday and secretly despise arsenal and wenger? is it time to take off my rose tinted specs? do you have any confession box i can scream at instead of me screaming at bendtner and eboue?

  268. FunG – lets get this into your head – silvestre is not a good player or good cover – please why do you persist down this alley – have you watched him play this season scoring a couple of goals does not hide the fact he is crap

do you like him as a player or person please clarify

  269. shotta no1 arsenal fan well done made your own rules your just a fan dont forget that.

  270. shotta-gunna

ZP, FG, Passenal, Alex – you have all been excellent today.

But I must big-up ZimP. You outdid yourself today; you spent some time doing your research which most of us posters know takes some time. In fact, most times I can’t be arsed because the committed Doomers are “doomed”. I archived ur posts I am convinced in a year or two we ACLFers will be vindicated, that we were not blinded by faith but by the weight of facts, logic and consistency of Wenger’s project.

BTW: I think you are better as ZP than Zhidinia. Obviously your playing days are over. LOL.

  271. alex – very poetic

  272. silvestre is garbage…..hes over the hill..won his trophies and needs to spend the rest of career playing for a little team in france…

why else do you think fergie got rid???

  273. shotta-gunna

Alex @ 2:46pm: I am sorry you were tempted by the Chelsea tea-lady; who is without sin my friend. If you insist I will build a confession box, as you know we ACFers are magnanimous and forgiving.

However I must admit I am currently building a big bonfire for Jim-Jim, Numbskull, Howard/Patrick and that ilk. As you know there is always a day of reckoning.

  276. So far so good I say. For Arsenal supporters
    1. Enjoy the ride
    2. Appreciate the beauty and originality
    3. Have fun, especially at the expense of trolls (be vicious)

The only thing any Arsenal fan knows is that there is nothing like Wenger:3 in world football (including Wenger 1 & 2) not at this level of the game and it’s mega-spenders. I like adventure.

I don’t care if Arsenal has 10 ‘trophyless’ years.
Just the fact that this club has such courage and intellience to execute an audacious strategy in a cynical world of ‘buying success’ excites me.

It is my luck is choosing Arsenal 38 years ago!!

Arsenal is the answer, but these days you gotta get the question right.

For many reasons one has pity for the trolls. Breakfast anybody?

  279. Top comment ZP! It’s nice not to measure your own self-worth by how many trophies the team you choose to support wins unlike all the doomers. Up the Guns!

Just finished watching, again, the Premier League Review Show, which was a compilation of the best goals of the year. My word Arsenal had some good ones. It brought a smile to my face and will hopefully keep spirits up over the long close season. Now it’s time to figure out a way I can afford to go to South Africa for the world cup as I’ve gotten tickets to two matches in the lottery!

  280. The Doomer Family – you must have a phymatosis growing in you head

what valid point have you made – no you just react

  281. GG – you lucky git

  282. Is that the way to talk to your command centre Num-rudd? We AKB’s respect one another. I suggest the same when talking to your kin.

  283. Gris Gris, what was your favourite Arsenal goal of the seasonl?

One of the goals I enjoyed the most:

  284. I meant *season*

  285. That was a very nice goal

  286. Ateeb – i thought he was one of your kind – im a breed apart on this blog as i am a true Arsenal as blood is red

do you still blush when you see armani boxers

  287. very good goal

AA 4th goal against lpool was another good one

  288. notlager – put some more arsenal goals on it feels good watching them

  289. The debate here is a fiesty one that has dominated football fans public house discussions for many a generation.

The general concensus on here is a rather difficult one to judge.

Opinions from the ”norm” on here, appear to be twisted and facts appear to get distorted, therefore leading to a ”hunting in packs” kind of culture. Rather than debate the current topic. Strange to say the least. That sort of behaviour usually reflects on a persons narrow mindedness to view football from a broader prospective. Leading to blind following. A cult following if you will.

Any cult following is an unhealthy recipe for disastor. There must be always a need to discuss and evaluate where things went wrong in order to keep standards at a top level. A cult following is more of a communistic approach. A totalitarlian approach. If you accept whats happening, there will never be no room for improvement. If the people at the top are allowed to do things their way, unchallanged, it always leads to negative impacts.

Arsenal football club is nothing like this. Just as any other club isn’t. Yet for some obscure reason the majority on here seem to believe it is and Wenger is their ‘Hitler’. Forgive the analogy. It appears very true from an outsiders point of view.

The means to develop always evolves around critisism. The need for pressure is greater than ever to ensure the ”big wigs” at the top keep on their toes and do whats best for the club as a whole and not just for themselves, which is what has appeared to be happening in recent seasons.

This is where we, as fans, come into play and always have done.

The pressure from fans keeps the club alive, it keeps it ticking. The current situation at the club has turned very stagnant and we are seen to be regressing, this is due to the fact their has been absolutely no pressure from the fans on the board, or on the manager.

Sitting back and blindly allowing this to happen is quite a pompus and arrogant point of view. Very much in league with upper class big wigs of the club. In fact, contrary to this belief, football is a working class sport.

The ticket prices at the Emirates suggest they are pushing the working class fan away. If they do this then they need to win trophies to keep that support alive. The working class fan will always find the money to go if their team are winning, but the incentive is not always there if the team is not. The longer The Arsenal go on the way they have, its fair to say the more support it will lose from the real working class fan who cant afford to watch the games. Arsenal FC will end up in a stadium full of the Prawn Sandwich Brigade and that will be the death of this club.Traditions, values and all.

Arsenal, overall, is not a club in development, it is a club in stagnation. Football alone isnt enough. There needs to be a balance and that balance isn’t seen on the pitch.

The majority of Arsenal fans can see this, its the Arsene fans that do not.

Arsene seems to have brought a new breed of fans to the club. Their sole reason, is to support the mans philosophies and beliefs, therefore forgetting the clubs overall values and traditions.

Its these fans that create a divide between Arsenal Fans, that is uncommon anywhere else in the footballing world.

Its these fans that are killing the club.

These fans are found on here.

  290. It has to be Eduardos against Burnley no….?

  291. Maria one of my favourite as well.
    What about this one?

  292. To which matches GG and what nation will you be supporting?

  293. The Doomer's Family

    David Dein,

Thank you, David Dein for stepping in and putting your views in text. It is an honor, that you, as Chief of Army Staff decided to intervene on our behalf. We apologize for not putting the same things that you’ve just mentioned in a more articulative and deceptive manner. But we’ve been saying the same things over and over again, for quite a while now. Thank you for elaborating, and using a more sociological approach, by bringing in cults. Let’s hope the AKB’s don’t realize we too belong to a cult. You sir are a star.

    Major General

    The Doomer’s Family.

  294. “That sort of behaviour usually reflects on a persons narrow mindedness to view football from a broader prospective. Leading to blind following. A cult following if you will.”

“Football alone isnt enough. There needs to be a balance and that balance isn’t seen on the pitch.”

“The means to develop always evolves around critisism.”

    It’s like Confucius on crack.

  295. The anti-Arsenal patroll have recruited David Dein.

  296. Hitler and Wenger, wow. Even Howard wouldn’t come up with something as ignorant and stupid as your post DD.

  297. What a f*** goal that was from Eduardo. The best finish from any striker this season. Exquisite touch, brilliant. More than a new signing, I just hope that we have a fit Eduardo and Rosicky back in our squad. In my opinion, i.e wearing the tinted glasses, I see no better strike force in Europe than ours. RVP, Eduardo, Adebayor, Bendtner, and Vela. Each brings in something different to the team.

It is naive at best to think, that pressure from the fans will direct a club’s direction. A club more than anything, is run as a corporate entity. Weather we like it or not. There will always be tentions and contraditcions between the people running the club and the fans. Which club’s fan’s won’t want a Messi, Kaka, or Ronaldo playing in their team. But the people running the club, have to keep things not only in perspective but also make the hard choices that we as fans can’t comprehend. Moreover, given our passion for the club, and specially for “WINNING a trophy” we simply refuse to take into account the reality of challenges facing our club. But to suggest that pressure from the fan, will change or direct the course of a club is idiotic. Believe it or not, but Nasri and Ashravin were not brought in because of thre pressures from the fans. The way David has potrayed the picture, it seems that Arsene along with the management, is happy to finish 4th every season. And are delighted when some of our players leave the club. I really find it difficult to believe that our club just goes for hte 4th spot every year, or won’t like to win a trophy or two.

  298. carlos chips are always something special. what a great touch this young man possesses.

here’s another gem from the CC.

  299. Talking of Kaka AC Milan needED to win their final match to clinch their place in the CL while we achieved that in a ,more difficult league way before that just shows you gaining fourth place is nothing to be sniffed at.

  300. Eddy,Vela,Theo,RVP, Bendtner and Adebayor.

Ateeb i am still waiting for them all to be fit and ready to play at the same time now…..OH LA LA

Also funny how the Spuds that come on here under the guise of being ‘Arsenal fans’ have no response to you challenge.

Would love to see Arshavin and Diaby in the hold behind the strikers too.

Please god let everyone be injury free next season. Also on the subject of injuires the Mancs have now put their defeat down to the injury of one player yes just ONE….Owen Hargeaves…..

  301. quality goals – grass cut, cold drink keep em coming

  302. ill drink to less injuries next season

we did have a few in the last 18months – freakish ones

  303. Maria, if diaby plays it’ll be on the left wing

  304. I can actually agree with num-rudd for a change – quality goals, please post more! Has anyone got Carlos’ goal against Burnley in the FAC? That was a good one as well.

  305. Your wish is my command P.

  306. This game had three goals of sensational quality.

    So here they all are.

  307. Great links to the goals Maria. Vela is a classy finisher. We could do so much better, if one of them steps up to take free kicks. RVP, is the only one who seems capable of scoring from them, but he has unlucky to hit the post or the bar more often than not.

  308. Dex – that’s because we lack wingers due to injury if everyone’s inury free then there should be no reason to put Diaby in the wing. It should either be CM or in the hole…..so here’s to praying….

  309. Look out for Diaby’s goal sandwiched in the middle excellent MF play from him.

  310. cheers

wenger will get his tactics right next season and more players will play in their prefered positions

  311. http://www.premierleague.com/page/Top10Midfielders/0,,12306,00.html

    for all you denilson haters!!!!

  312. Thanks Maria – you certainly get your money’s worth with Arsenal when it comes to quality goals! I hope to see many more ‘chips’ from Carlos next season.

  313. N Rub,

It’s not a matter of AW getting his tatics right….when there are injuries the results are players are played out of position.

  314. omg i can’t spot laughing…

SOS does anyone understand French on this site????????????

  315. Poor Sagna……both he and Ade need to take a sit but Song DAMNNNNNNNNNNNN…..i see he has some ‘interesting’ moves…..worth a dance i’d say…

  316. maria – tactics when we needed to defend a little better

  317. Ateeb,

I have noticed that we don’t besides RVP who has probably hit the post at least 6 occasions this season…..have a free kick specialist….how’s AA in that department??

  318. Thank you, Duke. As well as being better than anyone who has played a comparable role, Denilson is the fifth best of all midfielders. This is an incredible achievement for a player who was only 20 years old for most of the season, and who has been playing regular first-team football for the first time. Is this the best debut season in the history of the Premier League?

  319. I think i am going to start a petition to have Keown taken off that kushy sofa and working back at AFC with our defence and the whole teams attutide towards defending as a unit.

We have the best full-backs in the league in Bac and Gael coupled with world-class defenders in Kolo and Gallas….we shouldn’t be leaking so many goals. IMO it’s not a matter of personnel but merely organisation.

  320. wow – we didn’t any player in team of the season – why not we finished 4th – its rigged

  321. FUCK OFF NUM-RUDD!!!!
    FUCK OFF NUM-RUDD!!!!
    FUCK OFF NUM-RUDD!!!!
    FUCK OFF NUM-RUDD!!!!
    FUCK OFF NUM-RUDD!!!!
    FUCK OFF NUM-RUDD!!!!
    FUCK OFF NUM-RUDD!!!!

  322. loooooooool…..N R……there were 6 English players there tells you all you need to know really…

As for the rest Kuyt but no RVP….LMAO

  323. Great video – I’m not fluent in French but from what I could work out Ade was demonstrating the latest dance that’s big in The Ivory Coast, with the assistance of Song and Sagna. It’s called ‘Pongo’ and is obviously the origin of the goal celebrations we see on the pitch!

  324. huh….am i missing something??

  325. Passenal I have another interesting video…please do translate….

  326. FUCK OFF ATEEB!!!!
    FUCK OFF ATEEB!!!!
    FUCK OFF ATEEB!!!!
    FUCK OFF ATEEB!!!!
    FUCK OFF ATEEB!!!!
    FUCK OFF ATEEB!!!!
    FUCK OFF ATEEB!!!!

that was fun feel like im at school again

  327. “huh….am i missing something??”

Numb-rod’s brain, you mean? Don’t worry, Maria. Nobody has seen any trace of it for years. Some cynics are suggesting it never existed.

  328. Never fear, Numb-rod. You’ll be back there in the morning. The holiday is nearly over.

  329. maria – what does that mean your not bothered if arsenal aren’t doing well as long as English players are playing well for the enemy

    who do you support

  330. poliziano – i have room for improvement you sound like someone on the way to their grave

  331. Very astute of you, Numb-rod. I am on my way to the grave.

  332. All agree that RVP has the best technique in the squad. Gael was laughing about his first goal coming in the stoke defeat and their favourite goals of last season EDS and Carlos Vela against Burnley
Best player Ade picked Robin, Sagna picked Almunia, Arsene went for Gallas, who had a great season after overcoming all the negative criticism. Fastest player Walcott of course, slowest Fabregas, who is also the worst dancer, Eboue is the best. There’s a lot more I didn’t catch because it all went so fast and I’m not that fluent.

  333. That was for Maria, I stand to be corrected if I got any of it wrong!

  334. gallas was missed alot when he got his injury – oh what could have been if he had played the last few games

  335. NR,

Now try to not prove Pz right and read carefully what i said. There are 6 English players yes English players in the final team you asked if it’s a fix…well the England national team is clearly below average….so how then is it possible that with all the best players in the world playing in the EPL how the hell could they possibly dominate the team of the seaon the logical answer is it’s a fix.

  336. maria – sorry i realised after i sent the post – and read it again

    cheers

  337. You caught most of the substance Passenal…do you speak French?

  338. Thanks P,

Good to see Big Al’s teammates have confidence in him if not his fans. The only one i think to make it in the top ten of their silly top ten’s besides Denilson.

How does Ade ocme across when speaking French because i always feel his unable to articulate his thoughts in English in this video he seems allot more calm and collected….

  339. No, I studied it at school (a long time ago!) so I can usually get the gist especially when I know the context. I’m not so confident speaking it though!

  340. Maria, he doesn’t seem to speak as fast in French! If he did, I’d never catch what he’s saying!

  341. Wenger loves Eduardo’s generousity, his efficiency and his link play..

  342. shotta-gunna

Brilliant videos – no other club has the quality we have. None.

    Maria @ 5:41pm:
“It’s not a matter of AW getting his tatics right….when there are injuries the results are players are played out of position.”

Absolutely right. One of the highpoints of the videos is the demonstration of the high technical ability of the entire squad. When that quality is unavailable due to injury and when we are inconsistent because of the vagaries of youth, we are unable to play to our full potential. I have no doubt that with our youngsters maturing and quality players returning from injury we will be a greater force next year.

  343. OG,

You must finish what P started and translate the rest!!!

  344. Yes OG there were a few parts I couldn’t get the gist of

  345. im going to start french lessons

  346. Very interesting video….loved it…more please Maria

  347. No fair OG…..we need help with French like Happy Gooner does with his mother tongue…..

  348. Well here are snippets…

Fabregas they all think is Arsene’s “pet”. Except for Sagna who thinks it’s Arshavin.

They all think Kolo is the hard man of the team.

    They’re asked their best qualities….

    Sagna> Calm
Arsene: Takes pressure off the players and treats them with respect…..

  349. shotta-gunna

ACLFers – To refute the doomers denigration of AW’s thriftiness, in my 10 commandments of a club support, I added an addendum “Do not envy another club’s debts.” Almost by chance I surfed Tony Atwood’s excellent blog Untold Arsenal, where he’s been tracking the growing financial crisis among profligate English clubs and he listed the following:
West Iceland Utd: must be sold by July, but no deal forthcoming.
Portsmouth: sold to a sheikh, to become richest club in world
Sunderland: sold to a Yank, to become richest club in world
Liverpool: no news on the £350m debt which must be refinanced by end of July
Southampton: so bust that they are no longer paying anyone, but one consortium bidding to buy bankrupted club
Accrington Stanley being taken to court because they can’t pay Revenue and Customs
Darlington FC: went into administration for second time in two years and I can’t find anything that says they have come out – in fact the story seems to be they are about to fold.
Chester City having been relegated from the 4th division have gone into liquidation.
Halifax Town for a long time a league club have either been wound up or put into administration – there are reports of both.
Stockport County went into administration on 1 May
Fisher Athletic were wound up on 13 May and are no more.
    I endorse Tony’s conclusion:
“As Arsenal fans we might not care too much about these clubs – especially the smaller ones – but when we consider that of the EPL clubs not mentioned virtually all of them are either hopelessly in debt or for sale or both, we can be proud of where Arsenal stands on this.”

  350. Good luck with that bro!

  351. Ade thinks Silvestre has the worst technique in the squad *(ME TOO!)

They all agree Eboue is the joker….

Arsene thinks Adebayor is the best dressed in the squad!!! Song agrees, Clichy thinks Alex Song.

Cesc is the worst dancer they all agree.

Do English women like French players? Yes from Clichy who says they like the accent. Yes says Adebayor (how would he know?)

  352. Thanks OG – I heard something about English women but couldn’t make sense of it.

I was actually surprised that Arsene would join in with something so frivolous, so it goes to show he is not as serious as he seems at times!

  353. By seeing the rest of French boys at work in all those lovely nightclubs they attend….

However Nasri and Sagna may find it the need to lay on that accent harder a little harder….both have the worst hairstyles i have seen in a good long time at the Arse…..

  354. Also i couldn’t agree more on the best qualities bit.

  355. QoS, I recall, likes well-mannered men with large penises.

Maria likes men whose hair is arranged according to the latest English fashion.

English women in general like men with French accents.

  356. “It’s like Confucius on crack.”

    OneofUs, I’m still laughing! :)

  357. The old guard seem to be having allot more fun….to top it off Gallas the captain then was flying solo.

  358. Pz,

    WTF???

  359. What is the source of your bewilderment, Maria?

  360. maria – don’t worry PZ will be dead soon as he has been digging his own grave – he never makes sense i think it is something to do with his blood

  361. perry groves

  362. Great videos of the goals, thank you, Maria and Notlager. But it’s made me remember I’ve got SIX WEEKS to wait before I can see them in action again.

Carlos Vela, what a talent! And great work by Eboue in there, too.

  363. looooool……

Well your observations of the ‘types’ QofS and i like is the primary source there are many others though…are QofS and i not multifaceted women that demand more from a an than a conventional hairstyle or a well hung gentleman…..i mean i would take Rocisky over John Terry…everyday of the way…bangs and all…

    N the ‘i recall’ bit priceless………

  364. On the debate regarding RVP a couple days ago…….

  365. PG – great goal – right foot as well

we need more goals from RVP like that next season

  366. Numb Bum. You call yourself a realist but keep bombarding us with your nothing posts. If youve got a point. Just make it. You are nowhere to be seen all season then turn up to put the knife into the team at the end of the season? Very classy. Where have you been all season?

You will discover that we are all Arsenal fans and we may all not agree on points but that doesnt make one blind or delusional. So please make an intelligent post and tell us something we havent heard before instead of spewing out garbage and stating the f**ckin obvious…we had a poor season.. Wow! Get over it. If you feel like giving up and throwing yourself off the end of the pier thats your choice but dont insult those who choose to keep faith in this team.

  367. that must work both ways though G4E

if you choose to keep faith in the team then thats your choice but dont insult those who believe we had a poor season…

that too is choice…and insults are thrown at that choice quite regular on here so dont moan about it when the favor is returned…

David Dein…top post by the way…one of the best ive seen in a while…sums the situation up quite well..

  368. What if John Terry had bangs? Would that be tempting?

  369. maria – you are the venus of videos

forgot about goal against everton to snatch draw what a goal

  370. HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I meant even with the bangs i would take ricky over JT not becuase of them…….however in regards to bangs for JT they would be a plus if they covered some that hideous face of his
    !!!

  371. loooool….I hope you don’t mean Venus Williams since she just crashed out of the French Open early once again!!

  372. farter4L – i have got over as stated water under the bridge – you are proving your self of limited intelligence – carry on little boy

how you are JJ – enjoying the sun

  373. John Terry is a keen painter, I’ve heard. JonJon often models for him.

  374. jon jon if we point out one mistake we are all doomers thats the problem

they dont even know us, i dont call them akbs in every post but they say we doomers are responsible for our poor season

  375. maria – no more like the greek goddess – maybe when we run out or arsenal snippets we could have a video of …… no that be would wrong

  376. John Terry has referred to JonJon as his Venus ever since he painted a modern version of Titian’s Venus of Urbino with JonJon as his model.

  377. Research shows that the average top flight striker needs 6 chances to create one goal. For people who are analytically minded, that’s the standard strikers should be measured against.

    http://www.castrolfootball.com/article/2009/04/20/B561DACE-2DA0-11DE-8939-391FDFDC7951.php

  378. kirby,

No I call you anti-Arsenal Arsenal fans.

  379. He also painted a version of Botticelli’s Primavera with JonJon, Geoff, and Pedro as the three graces.

  380. In Cesc’s worst season for us till date, he still mixes it with the best.

    http://www.castrolfootball.com/article/2009/05/28/DA4B749E-4B69-11DE-8A4A-D2C4028680F0.php

  381. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=144940880439

Just watched this on Muntazir link great stuff…..Arsene Wenger really is a living legend….

  382. JonJon,

    It wasn’t a poor season.

  383. Heard we may be swapping Alonso with Cesc and liverpool will be adding 5 million on….since Alonso has showed up Cesc this season….while gooners aren’t the smartest but wacky they are….

  384. Jesus, the season has only just finished and I’m bored already. When does next season kickoff?

  385. not soon enough

  386. For me the moment of season was our penalty shoot out in Rome.
The moment Eduardo missed I began a very angry conversation with god. But that night could not end in a better way.
Denilsion, Diaby, Theo, Sagna … have they ever taken a penalty before? Away in a hostile environment? Against a team Chelsea lost 3-1 in this year’s group phase?
Look out for Robin in the clip. After firing a convincing penalty he squeezes Eduardo’s nose as if to say everything will be fine.

I am so f*cking proud of this team.
    Enjoy.

    http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8n8eq_roma8_latino

  387. muntazir, what was on the clip? I don’t have a facebook account so I couldn’t see it.

  388. im not anti arsenal either ole im a fan, a caring one.
your positive but not that bothered. we are different, we dont know each other but we keep saying your this, your that to each other, its stupid.

  389. Passenal, that was Arshavin’s second against Liverpool.

  390. I upload such videos on Youtube but often they get removed so I did it on Facebook this time.

  391. What class RVP. If you don’t see the progress he made, He’s supposed to be left footed but scored half of the goals this season with his right foot. Not too many players can do that.

    Pure class.

  392. Thanks Muntazir

  393. Arshavin see-sighting with his family….

    http://arshavin.eu/page.php?id=19

  394. Oldie but a goodie the music is also great……anti-arsenal crew…try singing along!!!

  395. kirby,

I think if you’re always slagging the club, its commited players, the manager, and the direction of the club you’re like someone who’s against the club.

Certain people who’re Arsenal fans slag the club off more than I slag off Tottenham.

One clear example of being anti-Arsenal is to always spin everything off negatively. Example, saying we’ve had a disastrous season. Disappointing, 98% of Arsenal fans will agree, disastrous it by any measure has not been.

When you’re booing your own players, hating on players like (Denilson or Song) who have done nothing but sweat and run for the cause, you are not working for the good of the club because nothing good can come out of that.

When disrespectful idiots slag off one of the world’s best managers (one blogger asks if Arsene has learnt anything)

Some deceive themselves they only have high standards. High standards are not an end in themselves but an appeal to higher results, higher performances. If your so/called higher standards are only going to negatively affect the club (putting players under undue pressure so they dont perform at their best, chasing away our top players, hounding away a quality manager) then you’re just deranged.

None of you has higher standards than Arsene. He’s the one who raised even your standards to what they are today. And it’s this type of fan who is usually carrying an inferiority complex who unduly always rates opposition players over those in red and white. I remember how many bloggers said Almunia, Song and Denilson are not good enough to play in the Premiership. Some bloggers said no Arsenal players would make a distinctly average Aston Villa team.

If you’re an Arsenal fan, and you remotely identify with what the club is about. You’d remember: Victoria concordia crescit.

Victory through harmony, not victory through hysteria.

  396. Muntazir,

How come must of the clips cut off half since some of them are excellent.

  397. Thanks notlager – I still felt all the emotion of that night re-watching the penalty shoot out. Those boys have got ice-water in their veins!

  398. i dont slag arsenal off at all i wasn’t happy with the season and i questioned some things but overall im not negative i support arsenal the same as anyone else

  399. I remember the first time i posted here, i said i post on le grove and i wasnt too happy finishing 4th then i got insulted and called anti arsenal etc etc.

  400. kirby,

Why do some wear being negative as a badge? Why is negativity about our club something to identify with?

  401. Our thoughts on you haven’t changed with your posts….so i will say what OG was to kind to say once again kindly dear sir…f*** off!!!!

  402. maria – giving me shivers

i kept watching even if we were losing – never boo players i think that is wrong

i dont hate arsenal players (silvestre maybe as i do not consider him a arsenal player)

the only thing that is a disappointment is we did not finish higher in the league and get more point and our defence

but as has been stated we have now gained experience and we should be able to defend better as a team next season –

    hope – gallas,ade,cesc,toure stay

  403. Am off night all……..

  404. maria why the fuck off your a joke sitting at home behind a computer.

well it seems that you lot are in a cult so il go back to le grove and have adult debates

  405. sorry didn’t realise that blog was for Kirby i thought it was just a general one – i think i should stop drinking now – oh what the hell one more can and roll up

  406. Ole G – great post at 9:28pm

    ***
    @notlager

    Thanks for that. (Sigh.)

And both Walcott and Denilson said afterwards they had NEVER taken a penalty in a competitive situation before that night!

  407. that’s a happy and contented sigh, by the way, notlager.

  408. ……………………………………………………………

  409. Ole Gunner, great post @ 9.28 pm.

kirby, “well it seems that you lot are in a cult so il go back to le grove and have adult debates.”

    Thanks for the laugh.

  410. Arsene Wenger on statistics:

“The performance insights from the Castrol Index are crucial to me. I only have two eyes so I can follow the ball and see where a player is positioned but I cannot really measure what every single player’s performance is like physically. I don’t need extra help in the form of opinions, because that’s not good enough for a manager. As a manager I need something secure to rely on. To be able to measure the real physical performances of the players is very important to me. With these insights from the Castrol Index I can make objective statements and judgements of the performances from all of my players.”

    http://www.castrolfootball.com/experts/

  411. crafty bison

I am delighted that Wenger felt able to be honest along with the players in that video in French, Maria. Thank you for posting it.

Unfortunately I don’t have the time to read through all the posts, but some bits I think people may have missed out in translating were best-dressed (Gael said Song, Wenger said Adebayor), and Wenger’s quote on Cesc: “Cesc is fast over five metres”!

  412. crafty bison

Ole Gunner – you got 2 parts of your translation wrong.

    1) They were asked the best quality of the coach (Wenger), not of themselves.

    2) They didn’t suggest Silvestre had bad technique, they were asked who had the best technique and Adebayor said “Silvestre’s isn’t bad… Sagna’s isn’t bad.”

But most importantly, nobody appears to have translated the bit about Gallas. Can anyone make it out? Not the part about Wenger naming him player of the season, but the bit where they all talk about him and laugh.

  413. Ole Gunner..Excellent at 9:28…the sad thing is, nothing really gets through the thick skulls.

  414. Cesc is doing his share of lobbying for the signing of Xabi Alonso. No matter how politically correct the qualification of his words might sound, it does put pressure on Wenger.

    1. “Xabi would be great. He’s experienced and can score goals. I’m sure the boss is aware of that fact.” and

    2. “We have lost big players, but the boss knows what he is doing.”

It does undermine somewhat Wenger’s freedom and final authority to decide, though the intent might be good.

  415. No way, benitez is going to let go of Xabi now. He’s possibly been their best player of the season. The move would only happen if Xabi shows some desire to play for us, but after there league run this season, that too seems like a far shot.

We could have Barry though if we wanted. Do we want him?

  416. No.

  417. Whats up folks?

  418. Why not?

  419. Paulie Walnuts

No thanks – we don`t want Barry. Certainly not at the prices quoted.

  420. Having a day off, Paul, you up early? Tryna catch a troll for breakfast?

  421. Luke, to be fair to Fabregas he was probably asked what he thought of the possibility of Alonso coming to Arsenal, which has now been taken up and quoted and no doubt twisted all over the place. He said something similar last summer, that did not put pressure on Arsene. I think Arsene is enough of his own man to buy the players he thinks will improve the team rather than be unduly influenced by a player’s opinion

  422. If you think Wenger has problems, take a look at Benitez. His players are ordering him to buy Michael Owen. What choice does he have?

  423. Who will replace the Chelsea tea lady who ran off with one of the ACLF posters? A possible conundrum for Ancelotti.

At 4m Barry would be a useful signing.

  424. You think Barry makes a good brew?

  425. Benitez’s problems are mainly of his own making. The stakes for not winning the big prize (EPL champion or UCL champion) is high.

    1. He has a new contract.
    2. He has used up a lot of political capital to get what he wanted including getting rid of those who “impeded” his work in the past.
    3. He has spent a lot of money.

Owen is a luxury for any team stupid enough to sign him. Man City is the ideal destination for Owen.

  426. ZimPaul @ 10.00 AM

A lil bird told me that Joey Barton has applied for that particular post if his reunion with Fat Sam at Blackburn does’nt work out. Irish Tea at Stamford Bridge would now be served with cigars and the odd wallopping.

  427. Passenal

Agree with your post at 8:57 am. Our players need to be street smart when facing the media as these guys have the ability to turn a “yes” or “no” answer into sensational news.

  428. BarneyStinson

Why is every one having wet dreams about Barca’s 4-3-3. We play at our best in 4-4-1-1. We don’t play in La Liga. We are Arsenal.

  429. crafty bison,

They were (actually) asked who has the least technique…and Ade said Silvestre isn’t bad, Sagna isn’t bad…and I interepreted it as a way to get their names out. But then, he later said Sagna controls adversaries, letting them go past him and then nipping in. So, you’re right that’d suggest otherwise but he was responding to the question of who has the least technique. Wenger had first said none of the team. Arsenel later says Sagna has acceptable technique seemingly defending him from the nomination….

The one about Gallas, it’s the question that I don’t get. It’s probably about who takes things too seriously, or the one who pushes others around, and they all agree it’s Gallas.
