Eddy, Tob-Amaury And More

It seems a corner has been turned in the world of injured Arsenal players. One can only hope that Eduardo’s return proves not to be so much of a false dawn as the ubiquitous ones that have cast a long shadow over the career of Abou Diaby. Oh, he’s still keeping the medical staff company, in case you were wondering. And Aaron Ramsey, apparently.

Eduardo is keeping a positive spin on his return:

All my team-mates asked me if I was scared, but I’m happy not to fear anything on the pitch and I’m ready to play. When I came on, I must confess that I felt tension in my stomach, but it disappeared when I made my first touch. The most important thing is that I’m back, but I still have work to do to be the old Eduardo.

That’s to be expected and the butterflies will really be turning in his stomach when it comes to the Premier League or maybe Monday’s cup-tie and the first crunching tackle comes flying in his direction. Whatever his feelings are, that is perhaps the biggest hurdle to overcome.

Wenger meanwhile is not going to be rushed into playing him:

He is back and ready to go. I don’t know [about Cardiff]. I don’t want to promise anything. I want the freedom to pick the team I want to pick

Well, that has to be quite the most disgraceful statement that Arsene has made in a long time. Does he not realise that we all know better than he? And he’d better come along with any of this, “I’ve won trophies“, malarkey either because that seems to count for nought these days. However, given that Wenger likes to rest his main strikers for these cup games, Eduardo is likely to get some action on Monday night, a gentler introduction perhaps than Sunderland the following weekend.

Wenger has been praised by Amaury Bischoff:

I suffered very serious groin trouble at Werder. Arsene Wenger wanted me anyway. He hired me for one season while I was still injured. The first five months at London, I was training all alone. Arsenal saved me. Wenger gave me one more year to come back to the best level. After eight months I have already played two matches and appeared a few times in the professional group. But the coach doesn’t want to rush.

Bischoff has impressed those who have seen him for the reserves and may yet get his chance with the first team given the inability of the midfield to stay fit for more than a week at a time. The internationals have worked favourably for Arsene this time with the next fixture five days after the friendlies ended. With a clear week after that, Wenger has the chance to keep others fresh for the important visit of Sunderland.

Important? A win puts pressure on Chelsea, whom George Graham believes can be caught. I am not so sure as Hiddink’s arrival will act as a spur for the players, at least in the short-term but a positive outcome in the Villa – Chelsea encounter and a win for Arsenal means the gap to fourth can go no wider, at worst. Graham is an expert at not strengthening his squads, failing to do so after the 1989 and 1991 title wins, his observation that “I look at the squad and the strength in depth isn’t there for me” was a regular complaint about his tenure.

Achieving a top four place is something that Gael Clichy believes is achievable:

I think it’s 10 years that we have been in the Champions League, so it would be a big loss for the club and for the fans but the season is not finished and we still have the chance. I am confident we can still do it.

It is not going to be easy but the ‘business end‘ of the season is approaching and injuries may yet play a big part. Arsenal are beginning a phase when those out should start returning which will be a big boost. Others may yet suffer the slings and arrows of misfortune that have beset Arsenal in recent months.

That said, Clichy is right. Arsenal has to win their games and not worry about anyone else. In fact, if they win all of their matches, the silverware haul will be healthy indeed and perhaps people will look back and wonder what the fuss was all about. I doubt it though…

Finally, Happy Birthday to No.1 son. Almost double figures but not quite.

’til Tomorrow.

  1. Good Grief! Everybody but Yogi and I still in bed?

  2. Bob

In view of the latter conversations yesterday, that comment ought to be reworded…

    YW

  3. Well, I see that one of the richest clubs in the world spent 33% more than it earned last year.

That’s the same kind of rich that saw Iceland go bankrupt if my A level economics still has any value.

Note to consolslel: increase spending immediately to levels that we cannot afford. I want to be rich too.

  4. Oh Yogi, you’ve made me blush. I thought that was our little secret.

  5. consolsbob,

Dont worry, I wont tell them about your other little secret

  6. Which club is that, Bob?

  7. Chelski. Earned £220m, spent £286m

  8. Happy Birthday little Yogi (Boo Boo?)

  9. Sticky

    >Boo Boo?

    He certainly was!!

    YW

  10. I don’t like the way today’s going on here already.

    A sticky Boo Boo?

  11. Arse21…your comment this morning whilst Cb was sleeping…what does ‘strongest man?’…mean?

  12. …oh and happy birthday, BooBoo

  13. …actually although smaller, BooBoo was in fact a friend was he not?…did Yogi have any cubs…?…

  14. Morning all. Boo boo 9 ? Hope you bought him something nice, YW..

Going to have to check last night. By the time i left, it had become an Americana blog.

  15. It would appear that it still is….

  16. Pb

He is getting all that he wanted over the course of today and tomorrow (when Ma & Pa Yogi visit).

    But will it be enough?

    YW

  17. Was thinking shirts, YW – unless ofcourse you’ve been remiss and he supports…. no, unthinkable.
Does he a favourite player ?

  18. Frank,

Do you collect world stongest man throphies?

    Rounders Trophies?

  19. PB

The unthinkable has been staved off. Brother-in-Law is a Chav who threatened to buy one of their shirts until he realised that I wasn’t joking when I said that I would burn it. Fought off Ma-in-Law’s affection for Barcelona (she is a Catalan) – don’t mind him liking Espanyol though (who all the Spanish family support). Pops tried to get him ‘into’ Swindon and we were having none of that.

He does not have any of the current shirts, growing too fast. As for a favourite player. Well, given he is half-Spanish so little surprise it is Cesc.

Junior #2 tried to tell us he supported Liverpool but he got really upset when I laughed. That knocked that on the head.

    YW

  20. Happy bday to Jr Yogi..May u write like ur father..

  21. …are you prying, Arse21?…be very careful….

  22. adc

According to his teachers this week, he’s getting there…

    YW

  23. YW – cool.. The chavs – or Swindon! Thought it would have to be Cesc, although didn’t know about your Catalan roots.

Have been grateful for my old man telling me “You support the Arsenal, my boy”

My brother went to the bad and supported Leeds! ( Back in the Billy Bremner days).

  24. Happy Birthday Booboo buddy… :)

    *swiss chocolate*

  25. Frank,

No i’m not prying, just wandering why you sell such cheap rubbish at your stall

  26. Yogi,

Me thinks you a tad too optemistic about guus and the chavs. Nor sure how replacing one international manager with another chAnges much.

Especially as he is only there for a few months. He has no power to increase contracts or ability to threaten places with new buys. The players are older and rich and on guaranteed contracts.

  27. Agree – they’re probably pissed off that Van H. will actually make them work a bit.
But you know how it goes, Nando – they’ll probably beat Villa 5-0 or so.

  28. Just seen that “Kranjcar has alerted Arsenal that he is leaving Pompey”. (The, erm, Sun)

Any thoughts come the summer ? Or will we just have an embarrassment of riches ?

  29. Maybe Wengers accepting his youth policy will never win us the league, good effort though

  30. @Arse21:

“Maybe Wengers accepting his youth policy will never win us the league”

Of course AW’s youth policy will never win the league for you – because you’re spu*s, aren’t you?

  31. Maybe Arse21 is up his own Arsss

  32. Up early TC? Right on the ball though.

What time is it where you are? Only found out that you where one of our cousins across the water last night.

Guus will lift them for a while until old habits and egos reassert themselves. id you all see that they pay 70% of their income in wages? They are doomed. It’s just a matter of time.

  33. Arse21… are you tottenham in disguise??!!! are you tottenham in disguise!!?? are ya?

  34. sorry sang it wrongly… let me go again…

    dedicated to Arse21

    “are you tottenham,
    are you tottenham,
    are you tottenham in disguise??!!!
    are you tottenham innnn diiisssguise!!?”

  35. Hello consolsbob,

“Only found out that you where one of our cousins across the water last night”

    Eh????
    It’s 12:48PM, 13/02/2009, in sunny Edinburgh!
Have a nice day; I’ll meet you later here.

  36. Happy birthday to #1 son! My 4 year old daughter has two arsenal shirts and a poster of Sagna on her wall. Of course her dad told her she was an arsenal supporter so when she’s old enough she’ll probably become a manure supporter just to take the p*ss out of me (I don’t think she will be rebellious enough to become a fan of the sp*rs).

  37. Doh! Sorry TC. Late night last night on here, very confusing at times too. It’s FG who is American.

Still, if you are from Edinburgh I assume that you are not selling cupcakes in a London market?

  38. Consols…
Maybe you were confused by the ‘cookie’. Yet somehow ToughBiscuit isn’t the same.

  39. Ok then. I should get out more and it’s been a long time since I had a night on the razz in Edinburgh.

Also I don’t get many offers these days and consolslel is in Crete awaiting the birth of our 6th Grandchild. I just hope that you know what you are doing TC.

  40. Chris – the oxygen of attention, bro. He thrives on it.

  41. I’m just confused Pb.

  42. Haha.. It’s been a strange few days, no doubt about it.
Btw: Bought your Boss tickets yet ?

  43. i’ve always liked Kranjcar… that would be nice. However, it smacks of tabloid bullsh*t… The press’s somewhat indifferent reaction to the Arshavin signing was precursor to more rumours of Cesc leaving for Barca in the summer & I imagine the Kranjcar link will be one of many more until the start of next season… would be nice though… that said, i wonder what Rosicky’s role will be next season, i imagine he’ll be a very different player, could be that he takes up a more ‘reserved’ position on the park.

On a different note, i was extremely impressed with Spains tic tac football the other night – f*cking great!!!

    Leagues ahead.

  44. @rev – thanks for some football talk! Yeah, the Sun of all rags – but was thinking about how good it would be. Good for Dudu too, to have him in the dressing-room (am guessing here, obviously).
Interesting that he should ‘alert’ the Arsenal before anyone else though; he can obviously see a bit further than some so-called fans.

  45. Not sure where he would fit in. He had a good season last year but I can’t remember much about thim that would displace one of our rather crowded midfield. He’s a bit slow isn’t he?

That is assuming that Arsene is not on the verge of the much touted (by LG) clearout in the summer.

Can’t get Boss tickets Pb. See above post re new Grandson. I suspect that I will be in Crete.

  46. Consols –
Fair enough. How about the livestock, if am not prying too much ?

  47. Ponyboy,

    Stop prying you plonker

  48. I’m not sure what effect Hiddink will have on the Chav’s. Usually a new manager has a positive impact even if only for a short while however history has shown that players do not perform to the highest level when they know a manager is leaving / retiring at the end of the season.

With the set of accounts that the Chav’s have published today Peter Kenyon’s statement is laughable. Turnover up, losses down.

Yeah, but the increased turnover is largely down to the run to the CL final, you can’t make a business plan based on doing that every season. Claiming that a big chunk of the losses are down to paying of sacked managers / coaches (£23 odd million) is OK until you face the fact that since Abramovich took over he has sacked 4 managers, all with huge payouts and the trend does not look like it is going to end anytime soon.

I know I tend to go about this but if we can beat Chelsea to 4th spot (2nd or 3d would be nicer) you could knock £20 – £30 million off of there turnover. This would increase the losses to £50 million plus.

    Self sufficient my Arse!

  49. Cb – another time… just that coming from a farming family, holidays weren’t even on the menu. Guess you have it all taped, so shall end that particular one.
Want to have a look at Krancar on YouTube. Not really seen him in action.

    Peace!

  50. Got family nearby Pb. they can manage the livestock.

Marc, Chelski are doomed. They are like a dinosaur that’s had a fatal wound to it’s heart. the message just hasn’t reached the brain yet.

  51. Cool Pb. I wasn’t taking any notice of ‘you know who’ (That should fool him)

  52. Marc..
Totally agree. RA likes a good sacking; and with GVH Russia-tied, can’t see him doing a whole lot in the next few games.

It’s good to see managers like Ancelotti totally uninterested; basically it’s turned from a ‘dream-job’ (+ mega-bucks) into a poisoned chalice.
Eriksson might be tempted, but Avram Grant looks just as likely to be given a second go.

Man, it just re-inforces the “Praise the Lord!” factor that we have a decent board and a far-sighted genius as manager.

  53. i cant belive how chelseas revenue is more than us ..

  54. Cb –
Please don’t make me laugh; have a churning stomach atm.. :-)

  55. Consolsbob – To me Chelsea were always a toy for Abramovich. Something he could show off to his rich buddies – fly them in for a big game and boost how HE built the biggest/best club in the world. Problem is while money can buy you success, in football you can spend a huge amount of money and still not get what you want. Abramovich doesn’t just want to win he wants Chelsea to be admired as a glamour club. You cannot buy history. With the crash of the Russian stock market and the reported losses he has suffered it makes you wonder how long before he decides that he either fancies a new toy or cannot make Chelsea into what he wants and walks away.

  56. Ponyboy – If some of the proposed UEFA changes come into force ie limiting outside financial input to stadium improvements etc. Chelsea will make Leeds look well run.

  57. You are right March Abromovich thinks the style and prestige will come over night. It is just ridiculous that they sacked Scolari, it will take time for that team to be transformed plus the team needs an injection of young creative players.

More unle used to tell his boss that he has more money than sense, these seems to work in this situation.

  58. Santino –
It’s weird, but again – the bloody Far East. No kidding, the amount of crap they sell out there is staggering.
Hate to have to say this, but it’s a fact: Chinese and JP’ese are really racist; We are not seen as a ‘cool’ club. That’s how pathetic it is.
Was out there for the Korea-Japan World Cup, and the amount of Beckham shirts.. and when he came on the pitch, was almost blinded by the flashbulbs.
Seems we’re big in the USA though !

  59. PB – Aren’t Barca and Madrid doing big business is the Far East?

  60. @Marc -
That’s when those A-rabs will come in. Seems the penny has finally dropped that Citeh will never make it.
[ Again, manager sackings..if they'd kept Ericsson, they'd be doing okay by now].
Mark Hughes – does he sleep well at night ?

  61. Yes.. it’s an ugly topic, but African-origin players don’t sell shirts.

  62. PB – If owner’s can’t pump £100 – £200 million a season into players will the Arab’s still be interested in buying PL clubs?

  63. I smiled watching Highes yesterday saying he felt sorry for Big Tone as “..he hadn’t been given enough time.”

What signals could he have been sending?

Very little interms of turnover between us and them. Take out the fact that Abramovich pumped in a further £67 Million and you see a club hanging over a precipice.

Abramovich will walk if he can salvage some pride and money in so doing. Only a matter of time.

Paul, you a cricket fan? Sad news from Antigua, Teat abandoned after 2 overs because of a dangerous pitch. Very bad for the Windies Board and reputation.

  64. Marc –
Fair point. But the UAE Royal family think in terms of billions, it seems, and make RA look like a small player. Am wondering if they’re looking at La Liga though..

My eldest daughter coming over.. need to get things ship-shape. Laters, all!

  65. Bob – As Abramovich owns the clubs lock / stock he can do what he wants. Worst case: you would think that he could raise £100 million from the sale of players, what is the land Stamford Bridge is on worth? A piece of real estate in west London got to be worth £200 – £300 million. He would walk away with losses but at the moment he is chucking good money after bad with no sign of turning the club around.

Remember – first to do when in a hole – stop digging!

  66. if having a superstar will earn more revenue then y dont we buy a superstar and start selling shirts ,y arsene cant see this?? he is ready to rape everybody to gain a few pounds , we miss players for 1 or 2 million pounds , we let players go because we couldnt offer them better wages , and we are behind chelsea whose recent success is simular to us , got smaller stadium than us , play fucking boring football . there is something wrong with that .

  67. Are you suggesting that he could sell the land for development and that Chelski would have no home. It waould also mean that he doesn’t love the club.

    That would be just awful!

  68. BentleyTheFlyingSpur

Abramovich will sell off Stamford Bridge and develop it into an up market kensington like estates. Then sell it off for a huge profit. West london real estate is a sure thing. Chavs will play conference football at selhurst park. Shi*e club, no history.

  69. :o ) Happy Birthday #1 Son.

  70. Yes then the Spuds will follow converting their club into a Circus or a Zoo…they would make lots of money….

  71. Bob, football is not so big in America so can you imagine Cricket. I havent watched cricket in years! Some things suffer when you come to the states, especially when you are young.

  72. Cricket? Oh dear…..it’s like a worse version of Baseball.

Fox Soccer Chanel used to air some Cricket years ago, that was brutal.

  73. Wet Fart Lane is already a circus G4E.

Whisper it quietly Paul but I think cricket is the best game in the world. That’s proper cricket not that fluffy 20-20 nonsense.

  74. Impressed with Fran Merida. Nice interview on .com. Very articulate and positive. Reminds me of Clichy in a way.

  75. Bob, the best part of Cricket for me is the feilding, some of the catches are unbelievable without the a basket (my dad’s name for the glove, mit or whatever it is) on your hand like in baseball.

I do remember the days of Ian Botham, Viv Richardson and them, recently the name It was Brian Lara who was most commonly spoken about as far as I know.

  76. I hear you Bob, the best part of Cricket for me is the feilding, some of the catches are unbelievable and without the a basket (my dad’s name for the glove, mit or whatever it is) on your hand like in baseball.

I do remember the days of Ian Botham, Viv Richardson and them, recently the name It was Brian Lara who was most commonly spoken about as far as I know.

  77. sorry about that!

  78. If shite hart lane is a circus. Who are the clowns? The fans or the players?

  79. Consolsbob – Earlier I was speculating on how Abramovich can get his money back. They cannot get the club to break even. If they stop shelling out on huge transfers (This is already starting to happen) they drop out of the top 4. Revenue’s drop massively, glory hunting supporters will disappear and it becomes a downward spiral. The obvious course of action would be to follow the Arsenal model but that type of thinking is alien to a club like Chelsea (And probably 18 other PL clubs). At some point in the future Abramovich will either be unable or unwilling to continue to fund the club at present levels.

  80. Have they got any players at Wet Fart Lane Marc?

  81. I was being overly generous – To all the genuine players out there please accept my deepest apologies.

  82. F*cking hate cricket….absolutely f*cking hate it….

  83. Frank, I’m not a fan of Cricket either. The easy thing is to not to watch it.

  84. And Baseball suck too

  85. ‘not’ is not a verb, Marc….

  86. I am feeling positive today. We might not be at the summit but given the circumstance, should we not be relieved and relatively pleased?

    After all,

Sagna -hasn’t quite reached the form of last year but has at least been dependable.
Toure -is out of form but is showing signs that it may return.
Gallas -his form suddenly returned after losing the captains arms band
Clichy -His usual zippy self with the occassionally frightening error.
Eboue -Frightening. At times the man shows flashes of brilliance but a loss of confidence, a tendency to cheat and get ‘involed’ mean his career is more uncertain than the pound is valuable.
Diaby -Flashes of brilliance. Flashes of mediocrity. Mostly moments of injury.
Denilson -Dependable, invisible and more withdrawn that he has been in the past owing to this transformation in to the son of Gilberto Silva. In time, he could become our new invisible wall.
Song -Frustrating at times. Good at others. Has talent and arrogance in equal measure.
Nasri -Potential with flashes of brilliance. Scores goals. Sometimes important goals. Injury prone and can disappear in games at times.
Adebayor -Out of form possibly due to lack of service (our play has been drab at times) and possibly due to a relaxed attitude brought out due to his belief in his own brilliance. Curiously self defeating confidence because he can only attain brilliance by anxiously working towards it. In his mind he is Henry but in mine he is Sol Campbell. Remains a likeable yet misunderstood man.
Van Persie -The genius of our season and the light that brings hope. His technical brilliance is second to none in the league. I’ve never seen a man with a better first touch or a sharper mind in football.

    The walking dead:
    1. Fabregas -Worn out from his exercsions in Spain and now injured. His injury at least provides him with a much deserved rest. Should make an interesting captain.
    2. Rossicky -I miss him. A real talent and I hope he comes back.
    3. Theo -I miss him too but not as much Rossicky
    4. Eduardo -Close to a return and what a terrific player to have in the business end of the season! Such a morale boosting presence.

Thinks are bright. They are the red and white of Arsenal.

    Can you really

  87. ….not to watch it…is not a verb either…

  88. Paul N –
Viv Richardson ? What a player!
The sports you play at school/college/uni – they’re the ones you understand; cricket is a great game to play, but it’s too fast. Five days for a game..I mean , come on!

  89. Frank – I didn’t do my homework either and I don’t care!

  90. …any game that can be played by fat people is not a sport….especially one where the fat people get to stop for dinner and tea in the middle….

  91. ….well you should do your homework, Marc….you will regret it in later life if you don’t…it is not big to not care you know….

  92. Arse Baggins – You forgot our newest recruit.

  93. Frank – I’m 35, bit late for me I’m afraid.

  94. How can you take a game seriously that doesn’t take 5 Test Matches of 5 days duration each to resolve a series? Philistines.

    Baseball definitely sucks.

  95. How can you have a World Series when only one country plays the f*cking game?

  96. Naaah…35 is when the real learning starts, Marc…..

  97. I hope you’re right Frank. I shall go and finish my homework straight away.

  98. Yes Marc that is really the dumbest thing in the US as far as sports are concerned – World series, World Champions and only the US teams are competing, I dont get it!

  99. I’m glad you said that Frank, I am about to go back to school!

  100. Excatly Marc @ 5:49

  101. Paul N, There is one advantage. At least you don’t get humiliated playing a sport that you are supposed to have invented on a regular basis.

  102. Maybe because we think it’s not our fault the world is not participating in the world series? :)

  103. So no darts for you then Frank ?

  104. That should read that we are humiliated on a regular basis, not that we invented the game on a regular basis!

  105. True Marc!

I doubt the world would be better than American in American football though. As far as Basketball, the world is catching up.

America is decent in football though, beat mexico the other night 2-0.

  106. PB, I get you.

  107. We invented all sports, Marc – except Lacrosse and Greek olympic stuff, oh, and surfing.. ok, amend that to team sports – and we’re crap at them all.
But i quite like that ! Win at all costs is for losers! :-)

  108. That should be Marc, I get you.

  109. (Sorry, Paul N – i rather hoped you wouldn’t, you being a mellow guy).

  110. Well American football does derive from rugby.

  111. Hahaha…ok Paul N – we’ll let it rest!!

  112. No match over the weekend and this board goes a little dead! what up wid that?

  113. Missing some key players…Poliziano..Passenal.
    Without them, our midfield struggles.

  114. I never realised there was a treatment room on ACLF. That’s handy because I have this rash!

  115. I see that.

Well anyway, looking forward to Monday and I hope we wil get a chance to see Eduardo.

How long is Diaby out for and what about Ramsey.

Hopefully Walcott and Cesc will come back sooner than later (fully ready obviously), along with Arshavin we are looking at a very exciting end to the season that could have many twists and turns yet.

    Arsenal=Class!

  116. Marc, I can’t comment on a man who hasn’t stood up from the bench yet. Tis to early but what an exxxciting prospect?

Should we somehow find ourselves with an empty treatment room we will have so many jewels to choose from.

  117. Arse Baggins – We are going to go into next season with major team selection problems in midfield (assuming no one leaves in the summer). I can’t for the life of me decide what our first choice midfield is going to be. What a change to this season.

  118. Edu-Dooby-Dudu, Where Are You?
We got some work to do now.
    Edu-Dooby-Dudu, Where Are You?
We need some help from you now

  119. Marc, good point.

Imagine choosing from a midfield of Nasri, Theo, Fabregas, Asharvin, Rossicky, Eboue, Diaby, Song, Denilson, a fit again Bischoff, Ramsey and an aspiring Wilshire.

    It’s every managers wet dream.

  120. Bob, this is for you

  121. Did anyone ever see the clip on youtube from the film Downfall where they changed the subtitles to Hitler receiving the news that the Spud’s had not made 4th spot? Funniest thing I’ve ever seen but they seem to have removed it now. Don’t suppose that anyone has a copy?

  122. nah Marc, I have never seen it.

  123. Paul N – There is a different version on there now. Still funny and worth checking out but not as good as the 4th spot clip.

  124. Paul,

You ought to watch it. It is incredibly funny and worth searching out. There was a sequal clip which is just as good.

  125. Very funny Paul, and so true.

Anywat Frank, football is a sport and Lumpard and fatty Huddlestone play it. Well, sort of.

Did you yanks know that cricket was the most popular sport in the us until the late 19th Century?

  126. Arse Baggins – Do you know where I can get get hold of the original now? Had it on a company lap top but changed job and forgot to keep a copy.

  127. I thought that ‘Fatty Huddlestone’ clip someone posted the other day was hilarious. Especially the pile of sh*t with a sp*rs badge stuck in it at the end.

  128. Missed that. Do you have a link?

  129. That was due to the british Influence, huh?

Living in the US it seems there was a attempt to do away with some of the british culture even down to the spelling of words color – colour, check-cheque is not used in America.

  130. No, it was a few days ago when people were posting all kinds of Video including Frank in ‘Taxi Driver’

    Youtube though.

  131. Found it.

  132. Funny!

when im done wid dat him got ah pocket full ah sweets…

    that cracked me up!

  133. Good riddance CBob….I’m glad we kicked it out :)

  134. The language is symplified because for a long time there was not a lot of education going on. People stuck out on their own in the middle of nowhere.

Look at westerns and think, that was only 120 years or so ago. I suppose evry year that passes the states gets less ‘Anglo’. My brother in law who runs garge and scrap merchant outside Boston has now had to learn Spanish to talk to his staff.

  135. Basil Faulty mangaed OK with his Spanish staff.

  136. Yeah, that’s the best line Paul. Some people are very clever. Imagine going to all that trouble just to take the p*ss out of an average player like Huddlestone?

Actually, I loved the shots of Sp*rs fans with theirin their hands. “A scene of everyday life at the Lane”.

  137. Bob, spanish is almost a must in certain cities. People actually get upset when you tell them you cant speak spanish, now that is taking iy a little too far. That is if they are calling a business place.

  138. So it’s not just me Marc. Does anybody else have trouble posting accuarately on here?

I keep misspelling or the keys stick but maybe it’s the site.

  139. When it comes to comedy I think British people are the best.

The whole thing was very funny, the rooster on the dougnut tickled me aswell.

  140. That’s what heard Paul, but I was surprised at Boston. I mean, New England?

  141. Yes Its true, I didnt know that was happening there either.
Do you know the original nationality of the hispanic people in Boston.

NY – was Puerto Rican, Miami – cuban and Houston – Mexican’s.

  142. “Impressed with Fran Merida. Nice interview on .com. Very articulate and positive.”

I agree Big Al. That’s the first time I’ve heard him interviewed and he comes across as a very smart and likeable young man.

  143. Hope Merida makes it an Arsenal, brilliant youngster!

  144. Some of our fans should learn from those young brilliant kids about being positive.

  145. I’ve just heard on the news that because we are not tackling ‘climate change’ effectivelty that Westminster and Chelsea will be underwater by the end of the century.

Come on people, you aren’t trying hard enough. Go out and buy a 4×4, burn coal, leave your lights on. Suely we can do something to put them underwater sooner?

  146. I use a 50KW patio heater. I like to sit out on the patio in the winter, when there are no flies.

  147. Excellent Pz. That’s the spirit.

  148. I use a nuclear power plant in North Korea to fuel my BBQ. Does that help?

  149. Every little helps.

  150. ^8^ ^8^ ^8^

  151. sssshhhhh everyone’s sleeping

  152. In case some of you haven’t seen it yet, this is quite brilliant:

  153. Is that Arsenal v Sunderland reserve game on .com is live or a replay?

  154. ok it’s Arsenal Youth Team

  155. It would have been better TC if Denilson’s shot had gone in this time.

    Anyway, where are we meeting?

  156. That tune goes round and round one’s head..
Thanks Tough Cookie – not seen that.
The Hitler one was a classic; would like to see it again.

Was wondering why it’s rather quiet; ofcourse, a friday night, no games, and Valentine’s day.

Don’t like being told “On this day you WILL BE romantic!”

  157. I think Valentine’s Day is tomorrow.

  158. Consols –
Just us left ? Your wife in Crete, my ex- in Tokyo, and Frank’s buried in shallow graves..

  159. Pz.. yes. Shame – another full 24 hours of ghastly fake crap to escape from.

  160. Apparently the church want lovers to celebrate St. Raphael’s Day too… Aaaaargghhh!!!!!
Not that anyone will take any notice.

Suppose Huddlestone will take his WAG to a nice restaurant tomorrow – for breakfast.

  161. I don’t think romance is in fashion at the moment.

  162. “Suppose Huddlestone will take his WAG to a nice restaurant tomorrow – for breakfast.”

Not both at the same time, I hope.

It should be wife or girlfriend. I think the acronym would fall foul of The Moderator.

  163. Hehe.. but didn’t want to use the acronym for Wife Or GF, Pz – for obvious reasons.
Romance is fine, unless you are a sad tagged old fart, whose friend lives in Las Palmas.

    Turning my red eyes green..

  164. I prefer the word mistress to girlfriend.

  165. Old fashion Poliziano?

  166. Yes. Much more mature, and sexier too. But in this instance we have yet to meet, Pz ; so am sticking with friend just incase she bursts out laughing..
You doing anything special tomorrow ?

  167. Mistress is an honest word, and can be applied in good taste to a woman of any age.

  168. If my joints aren’t too stiff, I’ll probably get out my zimmer and head down to the supermarket.

  169. Mistresses make one think of long, langorous Parisian nights, with silk stockings strewn across the floor. Room service. Champagne. Am with Pz on this one.
GF = creaky beds and split condoms.
As usual, it all comes down to class!

  170. Pharting on all Cylinders

    arse21 u stink

  171. You ought to change your name to Goatboy.

  172. More exciting than some Polizi -
    – If you make it without falling over you can buy some heart-shaped cakes to eat alone.. and muse on what was or might have been.
Am tempted to dye my hair.

  173. It might work..

  174. Atleast have had a taste of the future tonight – forget dyeing hair, better to just try dying. :-)

  175. When a man is no longer what he was, he has no more reason to live.

  176. Pharting on all Cylinders

Then he start to phart the night away like an old phart

  177. I will never dye my hair

  178. Does old age not appeal to you, Goatboy/Ponyboy?

  179. I take it you’re not ginger, G4E.

  180. Nope Salt & Pepper already (a substitute for gray)

  181. Well, seems one has little choice Pz. But if i lose my memory, and begin to think i am Arsehole 21 – then, time to get a nice long rope.

  182. G4E – grey, if you please!

  183. Pharting on all Cylinders,

    You really crack me up!!
Please change your name back to Goatboy!

    Good night, CBob, Poliz,Pb,Goatboy,G4E~

  184. Two pedants and one peasant..

    G4E – serious Q : Ever been to Winslow ?

  185. Who’s going to play on Monday?

  186. Night ToughCookie..
You’re the kind of woman an old man needs!

  187. Good night, TC.

  188. So phart jokes are the way to ToughCookie’s heart.

  189. Good Night TC :)

  190. Grey…Centre, Colour

  191. Oh camon!! Poliz!!

  192. Thats g-r-e-y. G4E. I think they have schools now.

Pb Pz, that was almost poetry for a while.

I know it can be rubbish but I get a moisyness in my eye when I think of being without my lel tomorrow.

Wheras you Pb, this the same girl wanted you o go to Gran Canaria? You haven’t even met her? Are you some kind of internet lothario.?

What on God’s Earth is St. Raphael’s day?

    TC’s stood me up.

  193. Winslow AZ? No….I haven’t even seen the Grand Canyon yet :)

I only been to Sedona and I think Tucson once.

  194. Wouldn’t be surprised if Dudu gets a 10 minute slot at the end.. Every time he plays he’ll grow in confidence.
Be good to see him on the bench, atleast.

  195. Pharting on all Cylinders

That’s what I’m here for TC

    Tough Cookie, Tough luck Consolsbob

  196. Stood around half the evening outside the North British Hotel. Bloody freezing.

Felt like a football fan outside Wet Fart Lane. All dressed up and nowhere to go.

  197. Sedona rocks G4E !! But it’s such a bloody huge state! Us English find driving 100 miles a drag…
Wanted to go down to Mexico – not because it’s special; just another country..but the friend i was with said it was all hookers and guns.
Lately seems to be just a killing ground.

  198. I thought Spuds fans are always dressed down?

  199. I said a football fan G4E not a spud fan. They are quite different things.

  200. Sedona is beautiful but living there is expensive.

I’m not a fan of driving either, I used to love taking the Underground in London, of course with all the pain that comes with it.

Mexico is not on y list of favorite destinations (No disrespect to my Mexican friends).

  201. Sorry CBob missed this one….I just thought why would a football fan even come close to Wet Fart Lane?

  202. Consols – yes. Living in an army town atm. 100 good-looking, fit and scary soldiers to every big-arsed female.
Am a fraud though, as my pics were taken in Japan, when i’d spent 2 years in the gym, almost every day… a mate decided that i was a wuss and got me into boxing/kickboxing…man..that is EXERCISE!

  203. Our club has been pulled backwards to such an extent that we now start the season fighting for 4th place and CL games.

So where is Arsene Wenger’s ambition?

With these crap foreign players, we won’t win the title again.

  204. Aldershot, Catterick?

So, you can’t actually meet these women Pb?

Never mind, the anticipation is often the best part.

    Tomorrow, Arse fans.

  205. Oh Fuck! Time for bed.

  206. Hey! I’m in moderation for the first time ever!

Thank you Howard. I knew that you’d do it for me one day.

  207. Enjoy it there Consols…it’s a rare few who have the privilege..
Place near Aldershot, yes. Gurkhas too – they have the scariest eyes.

  208. Howard – good to see you again…but bedtime for bonzo too..

  209. F*ck off Howard

  210. G4E – Better than some… like “Jamie” / Arsehole 21 / erm………… ok. Night, bro.

  211. Who is better than who?

    G.Night Pboy :)

  212. When someone earlier mentioned Huddlestone taking his girlfriend out for breakfast did they mean taking her to nice restaurant or literally having her for breakfast? I’ve heard that the spud’s have him on a diet – no one is safe until his hunger is satisfied.

  213. When I was in Junior School, Pb, one of my teachers fought with the Gurkhas in WW2, we had proper teachers then. He told us lots of stories about them. One of which was they would sharpen their Kukries until they were sharp enough to cut in half chicken feathers dropped on them.

I don’t know what that thought did for the enemy but it made me glad they were on our side.

Wouldn’t be allowed now. Teachers like that I mean, not Gurkhas. I wonder if they have stainless steel kukris now that won’t sharpen like modern, crap knives they flog you at huge prices and you have to throw away in amonth.

  214. I doubt those knives do them much good. I’ve been told the Gurkhas are mainly used as cannon fodder.
