Arsene Loves RvP Loves Arsenal, Hleb Needs Sorting And Other Gossip

Arsene and RvP have had a bit of a love-in, each admiring the other’s handiwork. van Persie kicked it all off,

I am 100 per cent convinced we will soon win big trophies. When that happens, I know the whole world will be behind us. It will be a lasting memory if we win it with our style of play. Should we put all our philosophy and vision on the way Arsenal play overboard because of one lousy penalty? I do not think so

Arsene responded in kind,

You always hope that next season Robin will have an injury-free season. He has so much talent so I am very keen to keep him, I trust him and I hope that he will get rid of his injuries. It’s simple. For me, Robin van Persie is world class, top, top class

At a time when the ship is seen to be rocking due to media and agent-inspired choppy waters, RvP’s belief is a decent statement to make. Given the willingness of Dutch footballers to offer their opinions on anything at all, if he was dissatisfied I do not think he would have made those comments. The key thing is that whilst not stopping the media insistence that the club is falling apart at the seams, RvP offers a different perspective, a sign that some at least are happy. Arsene touched on this when stating that he felt that it would be ‘criminal’ if the players did not build upon the foundations that they have laid this season.

This is more than can be said for Alexander Hleb. He will not be invoking Article 17 to leave the club because, according to his agent, the player is a ‘gentleman who would not stoop that low‘ which means his motor mouth of an agent has done the sums and it is not financially viable for his client to do so. Apparently, Alexander does not like living in London because it is too busy so he wants the quieter village life of Milan or Barcelona, to whom his Mr20% is trying - and by the end of the month I have a feeling that this guy is going to become very trying indeed - to engineer a move. Showing all of the modesty that one expects of an agent, Nikolai Shpilevski said,

I can confirm that some the world’s biggest clubs are interested in him. They should hold talks with Arsenal

Hleb though has not endorsed the comments of his agent but has not sacked him nor put him in his place. Therefore you have to assume that he gives his tacit approval to such utterances. Hleb said,

I will not be making statements on this and stirring it up further

He did confirm he is not happy in London but his comments seem to suggest that he will not be happy in any city that is not called Stuttgart or in Belarus,

I am not a big city man; I need my retreat - that is why I am often in Germany. Stuttgart is my second home, my friends are there and it is where I feel most comfortable

This is fast becoming a right royal pain in the Arsenal. It is time for Arsene to turn around and say that if Hleb wants a move, he must submit a written transfer request that will be considered. However, the player will not do that because he will lose out on bonuses and what remains to be paid of his signing-on fee, as is standard practice in footballer’s contracts. That being the case, the club should put a fee of £20m on his head and tell him that he is staying put unless that valuation is made. In other words, force his hand instead of allowing players to dictate moves and walk away with undeserved rewards.

The other issue for Arsene to bear in mind is whether it is worth keeping a player who is unhappy with his lot. When the key matches come along, you need your players to be fully focussed on them rather than be dreaming of sunnier climes. The time might be right in that respect to cash in and buy someone who is fully committed to the cause and full of enthusiasm rather than have someone with a longer face than Red Rum around the place.

The Observer sports section at the weekend asked a supporter from each club - presumably their weekly panel but I am not sure about that so I may be doing these individuals either a (dis)service. The questions were fairly run-of-the-mill but threw out some curious answers. In response to the request to name the top five best opposition players, those from Arsenal garnered the following votes:

Adebayor 7, Bendtner 1, Diaby 1, Fabregas 6, Hleb 4

Bendtner is explained by the fact that the Birmingham City respondent must still hold fond memories of him; there can be no other explanation. But Diaby? God alone knows what the Blackburn fan was thinking of. Alex Song I could have understood following his display in the Carling Cup at Ewood Park; a tongue-in-cheek answer might have been Jens Lehmann. A hell of a lot of technically gifted individuals must have endured bad days when facing the Blackeye Boys.

Surprisingly though neither Clichy nor Sagna procured any votes. The fullback slots in the ‘Fans Team Of The Season’ were occupied by Jagielka and Lescott of Everton. The latter you can understand considering he got around ten goals this season; that sort of return sticks in your mind for a fullback.

Oh and to the Derby fan who thought that Arsenal supporters sat in sulky silence when you equalised in the recent 6 - 1 drubbing at Pride Park. Of course there was disquiet; nobody could quite believe that the worst team in the history of top-flight football had managed to score against us.

There was one scoop that the Observer let pass but it might shed some light on the recent rumour of a Mancunian raid being along the right lines. According to the Villa fan, Patrice Evra of Arsenal was one of his top five opponents…Onto to the transfer gossip of the day - for it is that time of year. The media are still trying to flog the horse of David Villa to Arsenal, a horse that is so dead it makes Shergar look positively sprightly - what is it with dead horses today? Very bizarre as I was not glue-sniffing last night nor did I watch The Godfather! Richard Dunne’s apparent liking for London may well see him move to Arsenal ahead of the delights of the Bigg Market and Ivorian currently at Le Mans by way of Beveren (Sound familiar? Where is Merion Jones when you need him?). Of those mentioned, you would not find any displeasure on my part about signing Villa or Silva of Valencia; both are players of sufficient quality that they would enhance the team although I have a small, nagging voice at the back of my mind shouting, “Reyes! Reyes!“. As for Dunne, I am unconvinced he is an improvement on the current squad. He has had a good season for City this time around but does that mean he warrants Arsene’s close attentions? I still remember the error-prone player of a couple of seasons back which casts doubts. He has improved since then of course but this is no sure sign that he is the quality that we desire. Certainly, I would question whether his distribution is good enough for our first team.

More transfer rumours I am sure will seep out of the woodwork today of that you can be sure. ’til Tomorrow.

This is the interview those quotes came from. In it he says he does not fear competition for his place. What does that mean?

You’re right as long as he doesn’t put his agent in his place then it seems that he approves mr20% statements.

Do we think van Persie will give us a full season?

Great read YW!!!

“According to the Villa fan, Patrice Evra of Arsenal was one of his top five opponents”

Hilarious line lol!!!!

Diaby is a great player. 4 goals, 3 Assists this year, means he’s had a much better season than Nani, Giggs…

Sorry to be repetative - but carrying on from yesterday…

Richards would be a far better signing than Dunne - He is only 19, looks the business already and will only get better.

Also - he can play right back to a very good level, and is an Arsenal fan, so no problems with loyalty!

WHile we are at it - we may as well get Joe Hart too - very promising, and again, an Arsenal fan.

Rumour has it he was in the Arsenal end at Anfield - good lad.

:-)

Great post again Yogi - i make it a point to look at it first thing in the morning - always makes a great read.

Can’t ubnderstand why we need another midget in central defense. We need a big and powerful guy, not Richards.

YW , your usual high standards

Charlie, Richards a midget? get your eyes examing please.

As for speculations of names and us throwing names for AW to sign, I find it just ridiculous as AW knows better than any of us what positions are needed and what type of players are needed and more importantly who are really available. We can put the specifications ie ie CB - big and strong and fast but that is about it as it is silly to suggest Eric from Mars or Aba from Tongo to him. AW has his scouting network and if he thinks Micah Richards is the player he needs then he will plumb out the monies and buy accordingly.

We should just leave AW to do his job but we should nudge him to be more adventurous in his gamble( it is always a gamble even if we had bought Rooney)

Up The Arse!!!

Yes Charlie,

Richards is an outstanding player, for his age, but he is not big & commanding. He is more Kolo & Gallas.

I am not really advocating Dunne, but I understand that he has been City’s player of the year 4 years running. He gave the best CB display of the season at the Emerates.

The days when TH14 had him on toast were 5/6 years ago.

The CB position is one, where you notice your own players’ mistakes more than the oppositions.

For example Wheater, at Mboro, looks up & coming but I noticed him being turned far worse than Swiss T, in a recent match against Sunderland.

The type of CB, we want, will be hard to get right & inevitably a bit of a gamble. Years ago Ian Ure was THE man of the moment at Dundee, with everyone after him. Billy Wright, a CB himself, paid big money for him. Although he came good eventually, for the first couple of seasons he was simply awful - far,far worse than Swiss T.

On Hleb, he is scraping the barrell about London. Arsenal play in the northern suburbs but other than playing there 2/3 times a month he would have no need to go there.

The training ground is in Hertfordshire, where I could show him plenty of tranquil towns & villages.

It is a matter of whether it would effect the morale of his AFC mates, should the club really make an example of him.

I would be sorry to see him go because he gives something different to our game. It is his ball retention skills that are fundamental in knackering the opposition & his roll in European games has been crucial.

However a slight change in our style might not be a bad thing & make us less predictable.

We need another creative player anyway but if Hleb goes we shall need 2.

Hleb’s agent and many of our players agents are stirring up a lot of trouble and tension around the club. Sumthing must be done, im sick of our players being made to look at other options elsewhere because of these fu**ing agents and the media.

We are letting these people walk all over us, we are letting agents manufacture moves for our players whether we like it or not, even if they dont move it puts extra pressure on us to try and keep our players when it should be the other way round!!

Some new rules need to be set, im sorry but if Hlebs agent decides to chat shit to every1 and make every1 aware that he wants to leave he should be held accountable for it. I like him as a player and wish he will still be with us next season but this is unacceptable and unfaithful to the club who are paying your wages. We are the only top team that this happens to on a regular basis and it must be stopped.

If Van P could stay injury free, he’ll be a legend. I don’t doubt that for a second. So here’s hoping. Eboue’s staying put, apparently. Oh, shoot.

Wenger has to lay down the law to agents. This kind of action by Hleb’s agent is really unacceptable. Especially since secrecy is key to Arsenal being able to buy class players at discount.

I think Arsene has to make an example of someone. I’d warn Hleb in person and if he persists he’ll be playing for the Reserves next season.

no big name signings with arsene..if u know anything abt him u shud know that…

dont allow hleb to go if we can..lets stop this precedent which has set in of players crying before forcing a transfer ala diarra and cole..

give long term contracts to all ade..rvp etc..no harm..if they dip in performance sell them..atleast stop them from taking us to ransom..

and yes dont suggest arsene whom to sign..just ask him to sign more..no one suggested we sign eduardo or sagna who were both brilliant signings..but we just did have options to freshen guys like cesc and hleb when required..

Arsene Wenger has talked about buying a new defensive player, and it’s been assumed that he means a new central defender, rather than somebody to occupy a midfield position.

If the assumption is correct, I hope he buys a tall, commanding, footballing centre half who just happens to be an athlete too - as opposed to purchasing a powerful athlete who masquerades as a football player.

Good posts as usual Yogi. This Hleb business is becoming a pain in the Arsenal. Today I here he is being linked with Barca.Forgive my naivety but if Inter want the player wtf dont they just make us an offer. EUFA should enforce regulations about agents approaching clubs directly and should penalise clubs that tap up players after all the players are the property of the club not the other way round.

I also agree that we dont need to keep any players that want to leave but in the same breathe we dont want to give them away for free.A few seasons ago Viera was courted by Juve an Real Madrid for 2 to 3 years finally givng in. He was not the same player after that and his head was never mentally in subsequent games he played for the Arsenal.

As for Hlebs comments about big city life …what a joke!Does he think playing in front of a baying mob of partisan inter fans is going to be any easier.Arsenal should say £20million or forget it. Then we can spend the money on 3 decent players. as much as Villa would be a mouthwatering prospect would Wenger spend all the kitty on one player? Or three up an coming players? Vela doing well at Osasuna looks in for a shout! On the transfer front on my wish list is Birminghams Argentine Mauro Zarate who is young, has pace and silky ball skills and could play on the wing. What do you bloggers think?

Guys there is nothing wrong with M.Richards. OK he is not a giant but can out leap most players kind of like canavarro and cordoba in his prime.

I thnk it very likely Hleb will be sold because AW historically does not like to keep players that dont want to play for arsenal, look at Reyes and Cashley.

Which would mean that ben arfa is more than likely.

I fear if we dont win anything next year we will struggle to hold our team together AW must see this and buy wisely.

Gooner4Life - i like your point about Zarate he did catch the eye on a few occasions in a poo team he would be worth a shout but i think he was a loanee owned by a middle eastern club :(

Having watch Sunderland/Arsenal game once more, I proceed to make the following comments about our players:

Defence
Senderos and Djouou are far away from the regular XI. Senderos couldn’t even jump to head the ball, rather waiting for the ball to hit his head. There is no way Sendy can be an Arsenal regular. He was full of mistakes throughout the game just that our God was with us and Song was better. Song made some few mistakes too but overall, it was another good game for him. Djourou is perhaps a full season away but need chances to see how good he can be.

Midfield

I think if Randall is given chances, he could be better than Denilson. He looked a better passer of the ball than Denilson and better deputy to Cesc than Denilson. I have watched both Randall and Lansbury in games and they’ve always convinced me that they’re better than Denilson. They just need to be given chances to prove it.

Eboue should not be given any chances in the RM again. If Arsene had considered Traore at LM and Theo at RM, we could have scored more goals. Eboue is actually a waste of time and space. Can never be good at RM, never.

Forwards

Nik was calm to a fault and his passing were going astray all the time but still has a chance to develop.

Ade was as usual missing chances and quarrelling with colleagues for not providing him with a pass. A TH14 all over again without the skills and finishing abilities. His attitude on the field of play stinks and if not checked will be a disadvantage to the team as a whole.

Ade is arrogant and using him alone as the main striker will raise his ego level to a point where it’ll be detrimental to the team. So we need another striker. With the problems of RVP and Edu yet to see the light and Nik still developing, Ade can’t be relied on solely.

Ade had a disagreements with Theo all the time for trying to get goals instead of giving him passes (which he would’ve wasted anyway)

That’s my brief appraisal of the players.

My appraisal of our team is:

Good job boys! You’ve been fantastic for us this season.

Memo to Arsene: Keep them all including Hleb. I trust you know where the weaknesses are, and I am sure you’ll find good players.

Memo to fans: What really do we expect from this team?

Correction

Should be having watched and not having watch

Richards stands 5 ft 11 in tall - average height for a footballer, so he’s not the solution, although it has been rightly pointed out that his leap is outstanding and might well compensate for a lack of height. His pace and outstanding tackling ability compensate for the times he gets caught out of position which is mostly due to the fact that the guy goes forward so much - even being used as an emergency striker at times. He’s an awesome player but he would cost almost all of our transfer budget which is a shame - it’s more likely that we’ll get Dunne or Kompany. I must say though that I find the idea of Dunne in an Arsenal shirt somewhat absurd - surely not?

Howard you are crap…u dont need to justify us ur thoughts by analyzing sunderland game..those r ur one views even before sunderland game..

I think u shud start others clubs..as arsene will never act the way u want him to..buy buying irrational ..expensive and overrated english players..please support spurs

We need four players to come in this summer in order to build on the squad we have. Taking into account the departures of Flamini and Hleb it is essential that we add three midfielders and a defender.

Given our desperate need for an attacking [and goal-scoring] winger on the left of midfield Ben Arfa must be a target. We will also have Carlos Vela playing in that position next season which would be pretty much perfect - a dream-ticket - two very brilliant young talents who most likely will become world class!

If/when Hleb leaves we’ll be short of a creative playmaker who can play across the midfield and as a supporting striker when the situation demands it. The possibility of bringing in Samir Nasri is very exciting … he is available I think; Marseille are prepared to let him go this summer if the papers are to be believed. If we can get him we’ll be laughing - he’s twice the player that Hleb is and destined for greatness plus he shoots and scores!

A defensive midfielder to replace Flamini will also be required because Diaby and Denilson are not really holding midfielders and neither of them has demonstrated huge ability in the air. Song might make it in there but he’s not ready yet therefore Yaya Toure looks a good option although Barca will not let him go on the cheap.

A centre back in the mould of Vincent Kompany would complete the rejuvination of the squad … with that lot brought in I’d bet my house on us winning the PL next season.

I’m probably in fantasy land with those names because we probably aren’t going to get them all nor can we really afford them - it’s possible that Wenger will not bring in a holding midfielder preferring to trust in Song/Diaby which would be ok providing the central defender position is sorted out properly.

From Wikipedia:

“Nasri admitted that he would love to play for Gunners boss Arsene Wenger. Nasri has been admired by Arsene Wenger for his creative style of play. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been put on red alert by Marseille’s admission that they may be forced to sell the French midfielder because of a £12m clause in his contract; this despite tying Nasri down to a new deal until 2012. Wenger is a long-term admirer of Nasri and with the possibility that playmaker Alexander Hleb may leave the club, there is a strong case for Wenger to make a move for Nasri.”

Oh btw - the clock is wrong on the site … I posted the above at 1:12pm UK time.

dunne is looking for more likely then i think ye realise, arsenal HAVE been in contact with his agents, so have spurs & newcastle, but obvisiously he wants to come here CL football & all that

aqw - dude that was a bit harsh towards howard. OK his views are a bit self indulged but there is sence in most of it and to tell him to support the spuds?????

Howard:
I think if Randall is given chances, he could be better than Denilson. He looked a better passer of the ball than Denilson and better deputy to Cesc than Denilson. I have watched both Randall and Lansbury in games and they’ve always convinced me that they’re better than Denilson. They just need to be given chances to prove it.

I will try to be as rational as possible howard…
In Denilson I see a guy who has already captained his international youth side. In terms of winning the ball back in midfield i think he is far far better than randall. Although i indeed feel Randall will add some more stability to the side consisting of mainly foreigners.. but in terms of experience Denilson has to be given the nod.

However I fully expect Lansbury and Randall to get the not so important matches… mayb as subs or from starts against lets say teams like derby to build up their confidence and also to scale down the hostility of the media towards the team…the latter being the most important factor in them being played i think.

Hi All

I read from many places that Hleb wont do a Webster or realised that he can not do a Webster easily. We should endeavour to sign him on a longer contract and if he refuse we should just put him on the transfer list and try to get 15 to 20 pounds and move on. But we should do our best to keep him as he ability to retain the ball and dribble. He needs not to try that perfect pass and shoot whenever the goal is in sight. He has a very good shot in him. But first we need him to keep his trap shut instead of voicing his dissatisfaction. If he does not toe the line just send him to reserves for a year so that he can get all the countryside and peace he so desires. Yes make an example out of him so that the next guy will think twice using the same tactics. We need to get the best price possible but not with him blabbing his mouth about needing peace and tranquility.
His agent , we should just ban him.

Up The Arse!!!

the Obafemi Martins thing has surfaces again!!! Perhaps AW does fancy signing him…

Just thought I’d pop in, say “Hi, Hugs” and

Malaysia,

Sky last night speculated that Hleb had three offers on the table, Internazionale, Barcelona and Arsenal. The wages ranked in that order as well. Whether there was any basis in that I do not know.

YW

Wow YW so it is all about the $$$ shame… I wish players who get attracted by the dollar signs would be honest and not use flimsy excuses…..

Goal.com has mentioned the Zarate thing with Mcleish quoted as saying

“It was a little bit of a risk bringing him in from a league where you can get away with things, be lazy and still look like a world class star, coming into the hurly-burly of the Premier League. So I applaud his spirit, his heart and he will be a good asset to one of the big clubs - if not here then abroad”

Charlie,

Micah Richards is 5ft 11 - so not quite a ‘midget’ by your defenition!

And he rises extremely well and attacks the ball - which is not quite what Willy and Kolo do!

I boldly say this now - Richards will be the best CH in the country by the time he is 22 - be it at Arsenal or not.

Whats wrong with my spelling today - definition. ;-)

Matt

I too am an admirer of the young man but alas mucho expensive….sigh, can he exercise Webster clause you think .. no?

Up THe Arse!!!

yaya toure will be out for two months.

Richards would be expensive - but at 19 would still have transfer value for 10 years at least.

Arshavin is in England tonight - can anyone kidnap him and drive him down to the Emirates to sign tomorrow? ;-)

If I ask alot of fans on the “Denilson is a terrible passer” camp how they define a good pass, I am sure to get some interesting responses. What I would say here is Denilson is one of the best passers we have in the team. I rank him close to Cesc, Eduardo, Hleb and Song, with Diaby not far behind. Frankly, I was never sold to Diara if I must confess.
Misplaced passes is just a result of poor understanding of future intentions between the two players. Denilson, Eduardo, Rosicky and Theo are players that the first time I saw them in the arsenal shirt I was dying to critically observe their games. Randall is one that I am eagerly awaiting to see him some more. What little I have seen of Randall leaves me drooling.

The first time I say Denilson, he was by far the best passer and distributor on the field. He had his shortcomings on his overall game, which he already started addressing during his sending off in CC. Unfortrunately that interferes a bit with your original game untill you find a balance, which I believe he has, que in next season. Given enough run in the squad, he will eclipse everyones imagination. His kind of delivery is taylor made for Eduardo’s reception. With him and Cesc in MF and Eduardo upfront we could have goals for fun, RVP as a support striker. I like Ade, especially his work rate. We need it when we are on the back foot to shield our MF Defense, but other times it becomes a bit inefficient.

That is my take and I am no AW.

Tay

You are absolutely right Denilson’s distribution is excellent. At the moment he is still a boy growing into a man, so he is getting physically stronger but maybe still lacks a bit of stamina.

It looks to me that he is more a Gilberto type without quite the physique but compensated for with more ability on the ball.

He is more an all purpose midfielder rather than a direct stand in for Cesc. Diaby is best suited to fulfill that role or more likely a combination of players, in a slightly different formation.

Randall had a very competent game at Blackburn, whilst Denilson controlled it & Lansbury, to my best knowledge, has not yet played a 1st team match. So quite how detrimental comparisons can be made is quite beyond me.

Howard as usual sees Nationality first and talent second.

Randall has shown glimpses of talent, but has not yet had enough opportunity in first teams games to make the kind of statements you are making. He may well end up being all that you hope he will be, but I would give him a chance to prove it before loading such expectations on him.

Denilson’s season has been disrupted by the sending off at Blackburn and 2 major injuries, which has stopped him getting a good run together. He has a lot of talent as we saw last season and he is a hard worker. I’ve heard him talk about how much time he spends after training working on his left foot and some of his other weaknesses. That attitude is very important for a player who intends to make it at the highest level.

For your sake Howard, I just hope some of the up and coming English players have the same attitude and don’t think like you that they have a birthright, which means they can just walk into the first team without earning it.

It’s not really the outrageous comparisons alone, but the systematic attack on certain players from people who can’t even kick the ball 9 times out of 10.

Especially if you’ve been trying to promote your local crappy mediocre brand.

I think AW is putting Diaby and Denilson on a collision course for DM next season, seeing that he has more AM options both actively in the first team and the ones who need to be promoted from the reserves, ie, Randall, Barazite, Gibbs, Merida and Lansbury. I haven’t seen most of the kids play, but by making the bench a few times for the seniors, I believe they are close.

That is why in terms of productivity, I believe if we have Rosicky fit, Hleb leaving will be a blessing. Otherwise we will have to sell some of the kids within 2 seasons if they can’t get a chance in the senior setup.

Since we have cover for Hleb, we will make more money out of him and in the next two seasons we will see some of these kids emerge. If we have to hold on to Hleb and have to let the kids go somewhere else for peanuts, all the hard work by the club will be in vain.

I like Denilson. He looks like he has some ticker & I expect a much better season next time.

As for Hleb - what a disappointment. I`ve never heard such cr*p.

If Barca are interested in a swap (plus cash - say 10M) for Yaya I`d let him go , otherwise stick him in the reserves & see how he likes it at Underhill.

It`s not too busy there on a Monday night in November.

Well, its not Englishness or any prejudice against young foreign players. I’ve watched Lansbury and Randall play several times.

I’ve also watched a game with Denilson, Lansbury and Randall all playing and I can emphatically tell you that both Randall and Lansbury are better passers. May be you can talk about experience, but you never know what Randall will do if given same opportunities.

In the short time he played against Sunderland, he showed he was the better passer and may be the best person in the absence of Cesc. This is because of his range of passing, ball control and his nack for goals. His physic has also improved.

You’ll all wonder how good the boy is the first time he get a start.

I watched a game of Stuttgart (not sure of spelling) on the TV and found Gomez to be very good, a real striker, the predator type. Stuttgart is the club where Hleb came from and he claims he still likes going back to see his friends at Stuttgart.

So now, why don’t we swap Hleb with Gomez?

Some fans have been talking about Kompany of Hamburg. Really big and strong physical presence but I’ve not seen him play centre back.

Anytime I’ve watched him, he has played in midfield not Cb so I don’t know why some fans are suggesting him as a potential CB.

Howard,

I hope you`re right about Randall but if he`s good enough he WILL get his chance.

I don`t see AW being against young English players. Quite the contrary.

In fact , I`m sure he`d love to bring some through just to shut some people up (no offence, I`m referring to the media) once & for all.

Apart from possibly Bentley I can`t think of any young English player he`s released in the last few years who has been good enough for us.

I`ve not seen much of Gomez or Kompany but Arshavin looks very Hlebish to me but much more direct.

Yes, Arshavin. His goal record is not bad too. I’m told he’s delivered 8 this season and if Abramovich will allow us to have him, he can score 12/15 playing in Hleb’s role for us.

Arsene should allow Hleb to go for a fee.

Looking ahead 3 or 4 years, imagine this team:

Fabianski
Sagna - ??? - Nordtveit - Clichy
Barazite - Lansbury - Randall - Gibbs
Walcott - Vela

I feel with some good years of experience added on to this team, they would be unstoppable. Nordtveit and Lansbury both seem to be strong potential captains. Micah Richards would fit in nicely too.

Hey, one can dream y’know…

I want an Arshavin.

Wow blackstock, you skipped a whole generation there :)

Anyone read Arseblog today about Hleb? F***ing funny.

Howard, forgive me, I think I omitted to tell you what an important contribution you make to my life. Please don’t let me down and tell me you’re not English

Blackstock, there is no way all of those will make it.

Howard, the hype for Kompany at CB is because he’s always been really good in Football Manager at CB.

Blackstock rocks… and is “howard minus the bit of sense” :D

Anyways… one of the most reliable blogs has this story that we will be signing zarate from birmingham.

http://youngguns.wordpress.com/2008/05/14/all-the-signs-point-to-mauro-zarate-joining-arsenal/

And pedro bothello would be clichy’s backup… I have watched one video of pedro on youtube… but was convinced tht he is the best backup we can have for clichy’s position.

Song going on loan to WBA is highly unlikely… but traore to portsmouth is a decent prospect….

http://www.skysports.com/blogs/blog_story/0,19793,14556_3564857,00.html

A MUST read for Howard…just adds to the reason why comparatively better english players always come out of arsenal academy and not manu or newcastle or chelsea… and tottenham…he he

Guys;

We are not in business of only grooming talent..we need to win trophies..so selling helb to make way for younger guys will cost us trophies…might as well keep giving these guys chance in cc and if required as back up..they will make their way if they are good..i think out of current lot..diaby looks mature to break into firstteam..randall gibbs and other can wait..and even theo/bendtner not be starters for me..they are good only to make impact not to start which has ben proven and which arsene rightly believes in
