Alex Out, Gazza In, Bert May Come And Go, Cap’n Bill - All Fun In Arsenal World

In the blink of an eye, various substances of a dubious nature dived headlong into a fan and got sprayed everywhere. No sooner had Arsene called upon the squad to remain united and to stay together to win things, the fluttering of Roberto Mancini’s eyelashes has proved too seductive and Alex Hleb’s agent has proved fickle enough to fall for them. Nikolai Shpilevski said,

He is leaving Arsenal even though they want to offer him a new long-term contract and better conditions. Only time will tell if leaving is the right decision, but there’s no way back now. Everything will be cleared up in the next two weeks

However, remember this is Mr20% speak and may not necessarily represent the views of his client. Credibility will be given to the comment only when the player speaks out. By contrast, it will gain credence also through his silence. There is nothing to gain by Hleb remaining quiet on the subject, he is not going to force Arsenal’s hand into offering him a new deal as Mr20% has already confirmed that they have already broached the subject.

Were Hleb to leave, his loss would be more felt than that of Flamini. I know some have doubts about him - those have been there from the start - and as you well know, I think his biggest failing is the inability to score more goals. Hleb has complained in recent weeks that the Premier League is too physical for him. He will not find much respite in Italy but will be afforded greater protection by the referees. It has been apparent through his body language that he is unhappy; his slap against Graham Murty’s neck being the eruption of that discontent.

For the media it is a godsend. Another piece of turbulence surrounding the club, enabling them to portray another summer of crisis, Nicklas Bendtner being linked in the same Daily Telegraph article with a move to Germany. His father denied knowing of these which as his Mr20% he would surely have done and re-affirmed his son’s commitment to Arsenal. No sooner had this broken than moves for Gareth Barry and Alberto Aquilani (of Roma) were mooted. I do not give them much credence either. For Arsene though, it is all about perception as well as signings. The perception is that the club is losing players and not doing anything about it. A quick signing would calm nerves ‘in the stands’.

As for Hleb, if he were to leave it would be disappointing. He is a skilful player whose dribbling abilities are not matched at the club. As with Flamini though, he is not irreplaceable. His departure might make some slight changes to the way in which the team operates but that depends on who replaces him. Whatever the case may be, the club must be seen to be doing something otherwise it is going to be a long, long summer.

Three players have heeded Arsene’s calls for unity. Gael Clichy did so the most forceful in The Sun with Emmanuel Adebayor not far behind him, both believing that as well as the team being on the verge of something great, the supporters deserve some loyalty. The former gets it from us, the latter still has vocal critics. Gilberto Silva also hinted that he is minded to stay. A long time cast member in the epic, ‘Escape From The Emirates‘ - as I type it, I have this image of him being played by Kurt Russell with an eyepatch; I must stay away from the wacky baccy! Gilberto is not as universally popular as he ought to be with the same criticisms of him now as when he first arrived - too ponderous for the team - yet he proved them wrong then and may yet do so again. However, a long-term solution he is not. Another issue that may hamper his desire for regular first team action is the Olympics. He has in the past stated his desire to participate in Beijing and I wonder if that is partly behind his wanting to stay, knowing that his absence would not be a major selling point to any suitors.

Arsene admitted that the club had got it wrong with Flamini in the Q&A session by allowing him to run down his contract. Not learning from Edu is one thing but to allow a repetition is disappointing. One would expect the club to more focussed from now on in this area. They have to be for until trophies start filling the cabinets again, there will always be a view that the grass is greener elsewhere and more chances to win something which is after all, a driving factor for most players at this level. The Independent has a decent, if somewhat panicky, precis of this very issue.

Meanwhile, Arsene defended William Gallas’ captaincy,

I don’t share the view that Gallas is a bad captain. I think he is a captain who is very committed and tries to work hard for the team. He had an outburst at Birmingham but I still believe today that, even if that was a mistake, that was not why we did not win the championship. That would be too easy as an excuse because there are other incidents. That would be a cheap excuse. At the time, we were five points in front and everybody has been praising his captaincy. I believe we all make mistakes and we had to come back as a unit and try to win the championship. It [the captaincy issue] has been raised by a lot of newspapers but I must say I have not looked at the situation yet

Gallas has learned much this season about himself and what is expected of him. Whether it will be put into practice is another matter but Arsene has not been unequivocal in his support and permitted those media doubts to resurface. It has not been a pleasant experience for the player and he would probably have chosen a different route with hindsight. I do wonder though if the end-of-season poll that he will no doubt have on his website, might contain the question, ‘What do you think was the highlight of William’s season?“. Somehow it seems unlikely that his outburst at St. Andrews will feature high on the list.

Finally, for those who wish to subscribe via email, the fault that beset Feedblitz seems to have been rectified and you can do so now by clicking on the icon under the section on the right which is imaginatively called, “ACLF By Email, Click Below“, or if you have got this far and want someone to do the hardwork for you, click here. I will probably have a look at Feedburner as suggested in yesterday’s comments but nothing will happen immediately as this weekend is a busy one (again) at home.

’til Tomorrow.

If Hleb wants to go, out him now! Lets make a stand and say “Anyone not committed can piss off” I dont want him here next season unless he is truly 100% Arsenal. He obviously is not so see yer Alex, you are a joy to watch but again you are not irreplacable.

If Rosicky could get fit (a big ‘if’ maybe) I think he would produce more threat in Hlebs position anyway.

These money grabbing bastards can all follow Cashley to the bank for all I care!!

Can’t agree with the assessment that Hleb’s loss would be more significant than Flamini….

What a kick in the teeth for Arsene if this Hleb story is true.
Its not so much losing Hleb as i personally didnt think he was a great player albeit highly skilled, but the message this will send to players like Cesc, Gael and Bacary etc.
Its starting to feel that we are the kindergarten for europe’s elite. Let Arsene train em up and we will poach em.
Im sure this isnt the case but its starting to feel like it.
Your right Yogi, Arsene needs to make a signing quickly otherwise morale is going to go down with us supporters not to mention the other players

As long as cesc is here there will always be hope for arsenal!!!

If stories about ades pay rise is true I say sell him I have never been a big fan of him.

A few pragmatic (not big money) signings are needed. A we will be alright!

UP THE GUNS!!!

P.S. By the way Jussi from bolton is a free agent!!

It’s a bit of a worry to lose two of our least injury-prone players. A bit like losing three players, if you think about it…

Excellent stuff YW.

Rosicky would certainly give more end product if played in Hleb`s preferred position.

I believe Hleb is a good mate of Cesc as are Flamini & Senderos & that concerns me a little but football wise he`s never quite delivered for us.

If we get good money I trust AW to strengthen the areas he believes we are short in.

It`s still disappointing that two of our better players this season can just clear off when they feel like it.

What happens if Song has a great season next year for instance & some Big Guns get interested. We need to release players on our terms only.

I saw somewhere kranjcar is valued at 12 million..

I say if tht is true… we have to swoop him NOW!!!!!

I said the same thing few days bak on ur earlier post…. our football club is as much the fans’ as much the board of directors…and if u want to continue to receive faith frm supporters we will have to make the occassional high pro signing…. and with the vision wenger carries it will be most likely tht it will pay off….. until some JK turns up and strings up a story of his.

Song can come very good in that CDM position… but goals from midfield is wht we will need… coz i will be very surprised if ade matches his performance this season in the next.

Wenger (relieved to hear) is planning to buy a creative (and hopefully) goalscoring playmaker… and I am looking forward to it.

As for Hleb…. he will never be the kind of player he has been at arsenal… and his fear of the ball bouncing off the back of the net and bursting his balls will still frighten the hell out of him when he thinks of scoring be it milan be it even the moon..

Sorry to say… but he is DA C.U.N.T

What is it with palyers’ agents always trying to engineeer drama. They really get to me, always putting their own interests of making money before those of their clients. What will it take for us to have drama free off-seaon. For the past I dont know how many years we have had to deal with speculation of our player right from the beginning of the off-season and its incredibly frustrating.

Its sad because its relatively unusual to have the same sort of speculation over at united, now we can say its because they are winning trophies but it was still not as prominent when they were not winning. I dont know whether our pay structure is the cause of this or not.

Infact here is an analogy. If you were Cecs right now you are probably thinking, ok, I’m probably one of the best players in this league playing for a club i feel indebted to for the opportunity they gave me and the belief in my talent. However, i look at the other top professionals in this league who are the backbone of their clubs and they are all earning hefty salaries, over £100 000 a week. Damn Christiano is about to earn £150 000 a week. You begin to think maybe I am not valued enough.

Not irreplaceable but may herald the start of more quitters. So it is important that Wenger stops the outflow and/or make some significant signings plus new deals to reward those who had performed in 2007/08, and make a statement of intent out of these moves.

The description of agents as Mr 20% is spot on.

The worry with both Flam and Hleb going is the impact it will have on Cesc, as they all very pally, along with Rosicky. Although the bigger “star”, seeing his two mates piss off, may make him a bit restless.

A fit Rosicky could lessen the blow of losing those two for Cesc and maybe more importantly, a major piece of silverware.

“Its sad because its relatively unusual to have the same sort of speculation over at united, now we can say its because they are winning trophies but it was still not as prominent when they were not winning. I dont know whether our pay structure is the cause of this or not.”

Yea it sure is..Inter have anything but a lesser chance of being in CL semis than Arsenal.

I’m not really scared these two left and I don’t think it will have any effect on Clichy, Cesc, Sagna, etc. Not all players are the same. Flamini done it to Marseille before us and money probably means a lot to him. Hleb, I don’t think he has the stomach for the physical game, and he is surly note made for English refereeing either.

I agree Wenger need to act quickly, not just to cool our burning nerves, but to get the new players into the squad and settled as soon as possible.

I agree that “if” Rosicky can be fit, he can provide a lot more in Hleb’s position, at least Rosicky can shoot from any position, and his shot is like venom, he can volley it, he can crack it, and he can place it (Things that Hleb really can’t do). The question is can Rosicky be fit for an entire season, or at least big part of it? Remains to be seen.

No panic for me yet. At least for now.

*but a greater chance

Players have a right to seek new pastures if anyone is to blame it is the club not the players we could have secured them to long term deals or shown a tad bit more ambition by not persisting with stop gap measures in so many areas. Look at Eboue on the right and Diaby on the left wings as a case in point.

If any of you had the opportunity of a 10% pay hike and a more prestigious position, AC Milan is bigger than Arsenal weather we like it or not, you would jump at it. So stop complaining and can we start rebuilding ……………. again.

Hleb is a vital cog in the way the team plays, he has the best close control in the premiership he often doesn’t shoot but creates space for others. I don’t understand how anyone can say he isn’t a key player. He will get kicked to pieces in Italy. The trouble is his transfer fee is now compromised by his actions, I’d rather he was used to obtain a replacement such as Deco who has the experiance and is more direct,.

I wonder how the changes will effect Cesc especially if Guardiola express a wish to take him to Barca (although with Xavi and Iniesta they already have cover for his position) as part of his rebuilding.

I too dont agree with people who say Hleb can go coz we are losing penetration which we only got from him and Rosicky this time roung..If we lose him please Mr. Arsene go for Quaresma

Are we now seen as a stepping stone to Europe`s elite. Three or four years under AW then clear off to Real / Barca / Inter / AC whoever.

That appears to be the case

I would say that Hleb is a more important player in Europe but not the PL. In the PL Flam is by far the more important player and if wenger thinks that Bert, Den, Song or Toure can step in and do the same job then he is badly mistaken.
I just noted that even now flam has gone wenger said he would sign a defender and a creative player. he should definitely add a defensive midfielder to that list.
one of our key reasons for our big PL points improvement was Flam. he allowed us to compete in lots of tough away games where the season before we were unable to get a foothold in the games.

I still stick to my guns from the other day where I said we need a centre half (needed that all THIS season) and a defensive midfielder (to replace Flam) first and foremost. Clearly when Hleb goes a new man to replace him will also be important - though is third on that list. Those 3 and no more are required.

I only said he can go if he doesnt want to stay!! There is no point trying to hang on to a player who is not 100% committed to the cause. He is obviously a talented footballer but he is not irreplacable like DB10 has proved to be so far.

If Hleb brings in £5m and we can sell a couple of other ’squad’ players like Senderos and maybe Hoyte or Eboue for a further £5m surely that adds £10m to wengers transfer budget? I would say £35m is enough to get the three players we need to go on next season.

also if we are losing great players for free or next to nothing, why cant we pick up a player in the same situation? Is it just arsenal where the players want to shaft the club?

Nice article.

I am tempted to plummet, pound and in general thrash all MR20%s who make ridiculuous claims about Arsenal players in an effort to infuriate Arsene and unsettle the team. This is nothing new. Even in the Invincibles era, we were exposed to such tactics on the part of $%^&* media. Problem is, I feel that unlike Fergie (too arrogant to let what people say bother him), Arsene takes comments about his team to his heart. I don’t blame him for that - not everyone can tolerate/appreciate criticism about something close to their heart (even if its valid). How all these reports will affect the team is anyone’s guess. But I am sure Arsene must be having sleepless nights.

If he makes a signing now to “cool the nervy stands” he will probably have to force his hand. Let him have his own free way and let him bring in some more Sagnas, Eduardos and Thierrys. We, as Arsenal supporters need to pray that we have a slice of luck in the next season and an injury free run. Sometimes, correction, all the time, I feel that this season we would have been Champions had it not been for some rotten luck with players’ injuries.

Gooner Govindraj

Vivb,

I disagree. Hleb has a tendency to slow the game down and by the time he releases the ball the opposition have re-grouped. He looks good but I am not sure of the end product. Not many assists from him either. Lionel Messi is a much more effective version as is Tomas Rosicky. We are not as fast and direct as we used to be and I reckon that is partly down to Alex Hleb.

I would not worry too much about Flamini and Hleb leaving. Flamini and Hleb were never really AW players in the mould of Pires, Vieira, Henry and probably have little loyalty to him and feel they owe him nothing. They were always the two most likely to leave. Players are all different and have different aspirations…some are loyal, some need money, some have family in other countries, some like to travel, some are good guys, some are bad. etc etc

The model that AW is practicing depends upon a degree of sustainability and that means that he knows players will go and will always rely upon bringing in new talent at a reasonable price at the right time, whilst keeping the core of the team intact. This is his greatest skill. Let us watch a master at work.

Disturbing news…
I agree with gazzap that Flam was the most important player in the PL context and also that Bert/Den are miles away from that standpoint and no proper replacement…
Also you simply CANNOT assume that Rosicky will be fit for most of the season to downplay Hleb’s departure ! this will not happen, nobody actually knows if he will be fit at all right now…

Dont forget that up until last season everyone would have been happy if Flamini would have left, no one would have complained. With one year left on his contract no one was surpised that his contract was not being extended.

But this season he has been awesome and now everyone is angry why we couldnt keep him. I dont really blame Flamini to be honest, till a year back everyone was happy to see him go….

Now not for a minute do i think this is a wise move. I dont think he is a one season wonder, but he wont have the same impact at AC.

Its time to move on.

It does however highlight the need of Dein’s replacement. Why is the board happy with trophyless seasons, because since Dien departure - the management has been in turmoil. The board have their own problems, let alone worry about winning trophies. Arsene deserves a lot of credit as he is taking on more responsibility. WHY oh WHY hasnt Dein been replaced yet? We have become so dependent on Arsene that we should be thankful to his loyalty to the club. I gurantee if the board sort themselves out, Arsene can produce more out of this team and have more time to re-negotiate, bring better players in etc.

I feel sorry for Arsene…..

How much would we really miss Helb? The guy is a good dribbler but where is the end product. As an attacking winger he is afraid to SHOOOOOOOT.
The one thing we will not miss is his goals.

As for relying on Rosicky dont make me laugh. The guy is too injury prone i would ship him out as well
Arsenal should not have to rely on a player how can not play more than 3 games in a row

I said it yesterday, and will say it again - forget Flamini - he is history.

Arsene has done a good job of building a TEAM over the last 3 seasons, and if Hleb doesnt want to be part of that - let him go.

He ,like Flamini, is very replacable.

Hleb scored 2 goals last season, and only about 5 assists - so for all of his pretty play - how effective is he? really?

I mentioned him yesterday - but we could do worse than get Andrey Arshavin from Zenit.

He would be a more than adequate replacement for Hleb.

If we all look back at the goals hleb created… ade’s backheel at bolton…amazing pass for cesc liverpool away… his eye for the “perfect” pass is just too few and far…. he doesnt step on the gas until he is absolutely sure… i bet if a decent player…(can we have kranjcar plzzzzzzzzzz) comes along to play in tht position…and stays injury free.. we will see more chances i am dead sure….. and whoever thinks we need to build up our defense more than attacks… he is sorely mistaken. Look at other clubs… spurs, manu, they have over the last few years added much impetus to their attacking plays… and we brood on our defense… which before the ACN was as calming as anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ridiculous.

Except for the weakness against the long balls..and hence the need for a tall strong CB.. we shudnt have any concerns…. put in a few practice sessions and we will have an imaculate defense…. song is on song already. Its about scoring goals… not sc*ming likethe boltons and the wigans.. and the pompeys for heaven’s sakes

Hi Yogi

Great piece as usual but I wonder if you have misinterpreted what AW actually said at the Q & A session…or maybe I have!?

Where you say “Arsene admitted that the club had got it wrong with Flamini in the Q&A session by allowing him to run down his contract” I take it you are referring to the comment of “we did not master the situation with Flamini”?

I took it he was referring to the fact that Flamini was the one player free to leave. Whether we liked it or not, Flamini (and his Mr 20%!) mastered the situation, not Arsenal, hence AW’s comment.

Apologies if I’ve missed an admission of it being Arsenal’s fault somewhere else, or if I’ve misinterpreted the quote myself…

On another point, someone has used the analogy of “you’d take a new job if you were offered a 10/20/50% pay-rise.”

Of course, when you are talking about such a rise for ‘normal’ wages these people are spot-on. Say you earn £50,000 per year and are offered £75,000 per YEAR you’d probably jump at the chance.

We are talking about people earning that amount per WEEK. It’s a completely different world; a 10% pay increase to us is a big deal. To Premier League footballers even a 50% pay increase is surely going to make very little difference to quality of life.

With Flamini, I have no problem with the way in which he left. He completed his contract and has moved to Italy; a country to which he has family roots apparently. He’s also moved to one of the “dream” clubs of world football. However, I can’t help but think “footballistacally” as AW would say, this may prove to be a bad move. Players seem to have no issue with leaving a man like AW despite him giving them their big chance. I suspect, and may well be proved wrong, Flamini will do no better than average for the rest of his career…

Hleb needs replacements: Nasri, Nikko Kranjkar or Niesta.

Flamini replacements: Alou Diarra(Bordeaux), Barry(A.Villa) ,Song or Affailay(PSV).

Then, we need one top striker(Hantelaar, Gomez(Stuttgart), even Drogba) and a center-half ( Richard or Kaka Kaladze).

Hleb can go; I am not that worried, as he olds up too much our play even if I must admit that I love the way he plays football.

AW needs to start bringing in new players to stop the psychological blow the press are happy to put on anything connected with Arsenal.
He needs to sign players who help us match our rivals physical presence. It’s time he puts to an end his current policy of signing lightweight players who can’t cop with the physic of PL.
No more Hleb, Rosicky type of signing, please.

Has anyone heard anything about Sagna`s injury ?

Will he be fit for the Euro`s ?

Hopefully not but a bad ankle ligament injury can takes ages to get over.

Cr*p-tache Neville at Man U was out for a whole year

I agree very much with what Frank & Danny have just written.

The word ‘master’ means that Flamini was always in command of the situation & not Arsenal.

You can understand someone going to AC, who are undoubtably a world top 3 club, but surely Inter cannot be considered above us in the pecking order. They won the league for the 1st time in decades through the ref scandle & because of that have had an advantage for the past 2 seasons.

I think Hleb decided to leave the Premier League as soon as he saw Eduardo’s injury. He’s been on the receiving end of a couple of dodgy challenges this season (Noble away at West Ham and Carew away at Villa) and he probably felt sooner or later the same could happen to him.

Unfortunately, I don’t think you can ever be totally free of risk from career threatening injuries wherever you might play.

Well it has all really gone Pete Tong…

AW has failed as he said in his statement a couple of days ago to unite the team that sends the completely wrong message to the rest of the team and perhaps Adebayor has picked up on it by supposedly requesting a ludicrous more than double pay hike to £80k a week!!!

All you guys pinning your hopes on Rosicky next season have forgotten how injury prone the player is.

I personally dont believe we need to replace Hleb as badly as we need to replace Flamini.

I think we should go back to Toure as center back unless he no longer wants to play there and move Song into Flamini’s departed position as he is technically good enough to play in that role with the right physical attributes.

Morning all (yes, it is early morning here),

I have read the comments with interest and agree with much of what has been said or suggested. The fact is that Hleb well indeed be on his bike this summer, many clubs are now acutely appear of the new rules hence the rash of recent contract extensions around the league. I remember uttering something about this rule earlier in the year, however we (Arsenal) seem to have fallen shy of the idea that it could impact our team. Let me be clear on one thing (at least in my opinion), no one irreplaceable… not even Cesc. That is not to say that I want anyone leaving but we have to be honest and say that Arsenal are a club that is trying to build for the future in a world where fans always want instant results. The balance is not an easy task and we are not United, Liverpool or Chelsea when it comes to big money signings and contracts so we have to deal with the unearthed gems of Wenger’s empire not those that are already glistening is other leagues. I want success but the build have a model and I am not about to trade the future of the club for a title or two. I said it the other day and I’ll say it again, the wage structure at all clubs is not sustainable in the long term and that is going to bite hard at some point. I know that were I to have a big mortgage I would concentrate on managing my debts and getting take outs where I can, as opposed to having take out all the time and still service the debt. The thing about many players is that they are like take outs, you may enjoy them but at what price.

Great news by AW but we won’t be sure till he signs a new contract

@ Danny_27: A footballers earning life is what 10 - 15 years other professions are what 30 - 40. So even the short term ridiculous salary package should be balanced with a long term view.

at least for now… cesc is NOT REPLACEABLE…. Toronto….
Can you plz give me one name in the world of football of a 21 year old who can exhibit same vision, ability and form as cesc on his rate of consistency??????????????????

Messi many would shout…. in terms of vision… i rate fabregas as much much higher than messi.

Well it appears my last comment has been moderated possible cause of the link i inserted to goals reference to AW commant on Arsenal Tv saying that as far as he was concerned Hleb was going nowhere, but like Flamini we dont have a leg to stand on if he decides to invoke the new european ruling and buy out the remainder of his contract.

But his loss will not be as painfull as that of flamini as he not only has great workrate but technically he is alsoi very good, hard to find another baller with similar attibutes out there.

I somehow feel kranjcar would complete the attacking dimension of this side….

Wenger Kranjcar plz!!!

Toronto

Robert Pires was irreplacable

gunner4life ????
I love Cesc as a baller, but messi is on another planet playing a in a poor barca team he is without doubt the best player in the world , yes that includes C.Ronaldo.
My god messi in our team would have a score for fun.

First of all I don’t see the reason for all the fear and panic that’s floating around.

Last season we could have sold Henry, Flamini, and Hleb. Except for henry that wouldn’t have been much of a problem for us.We practically was begging to boot out Hleb and Flamini.

This season the same 2 players want to leave and we’re making it such a big issue.

Flamini is out - no need to discuss.

Hleb - for all his good skill and technique and whatever can anyone remember how many times his silky skills has created goals for us? I certainly can’t remember much.

The guy is a pleasure to watch but the end result of his good play was nothing. If he stays fine if not I am sure our scouting network will yield another gem from nowhere much like it yielded Hleb.

dfunkydog
agree if the damage is limited to just those two..with few more additions. but if those additions dont match hleb in terms of staying away frm injury… then thts a problem.

Silver Gunner
Messi is another planet with respect to his pace, his left foot, and his ball control is awesome for sure… vision??
If I want to chose between messi and fabregas to play in the midfield(i.e in current fabregas’ position) i would without any doubt chose fabregas over messi….
and messi on the left :D.

fearsome prospect…i am sure if some manc or spu*s fan read my comments… sure one or two chills would have gone down the spines. :D

and btw… fabregas doent need to move too much forward to create goals from nothing… what messi lacks in vision makes it up with his ball control and ability to beat defenders on the run. When it comes to pulling the strings from the mid… FAB4 is the man.

Gentlemen,

You miss the point, “no player is irreplaceable”. Were Cesc to leave (which of course I don’t want to see) would Arsenal cease to exist? I am left some what bewildered with certain comments that make it almost a foregone conclusion that some players are bigger than the club… at least in my book that doesn’t hold water. In 20 years when I am still a die hard Arsenal fan, the club should be there but I imagine Cesc won’t. It may will prove that the boy becomes a legend and there have been great one’s in the team’s history, and therein lies the answer.. “team”. No player is bigger than the club.

Hey everyone.

I’ve been reading the blog for a little while but this is my first time posting.

Being french myself, i’m a huge fan of fellow countryman Arsene, and have been for a long time now.

The one thing that’s been fustrating me most with him in recent years, is he’s always talking about his priority number 1, come the end of the season, and that is… “to keep the squad together”.
Fair enough, naturally you want to keep all your best players and have the team grow together for as long as possible.
But for me, that’s almost a given. It shouldn’t even really be an issue in the first place.
I’m not naive enough to think anything in football can be taken for granted too much but it does annoy me that most of his focus seems solely on that task (”keeping everyone at the club” ;) when surely we should already be talking about adding to it.

Sure, he never gives away much when it comes to transfer talks and speculations, indeed he likes to keep his cards close to his chest but take a look at Fergusson for instance.
Man utd won the league last year and within 3 weeks of being crowned champions, SAF was already talking about strenthening his squad and he did just that.

Same again this year, he’s already talking about bringing more players in.

Now, don’t get me wrong, i am in no way suggesting we should spend any kind of money Man utd splash out year in, year out and i know all too well the difference between the two managers.
Arsene has never been a big spender and i do appreciate it. This ability he has for spotting, then nurturing young talents is incredible. Just outstanding and it’s a trait that i love about our manager.

However, there is a “but”. I do feel that what’s cost us trophies this year (amongst various other factors) was due to our bench, our lack of squad depth.
Fergusson, whenever things weren’t going his way on the pitch, was always able calling up on back up and change the outcome of the game, just like that.
Arsene, hasn’t been able to do that, not consistently enough anyway.

For me, that’s mostly where the difference lies.

So the key to success next season, in my opinion, will be the bench. How good will it be.

Toronto… we all carry different perspectives.

cesc is irreplaceable in terms of challenging for the title next season and not for the club survival..
Thts my perspective.

Gunner,

Could not agree more with your assessment on perspectives, what a dull world it would be :)

Whilst we are on the road of speculation in respect of possible targets… I really would enjoy seeing Zapata (Udinese) arrive. The lad is big, strong and young (I believe about 23 years). There may be argument for Narsi, but perhaps his age at this point would count again him, given Wenger stated we was in the market for more experienced players. It could also be said that Nasri is a little to much like Vela.

This webster clause is being over exaggerated. if people remember andy webster he had to go through a lot of hearings etc. before the release was completed. also i think most of the top clubs made an agreement they wouldn’t use it against each other.so inter would probably get hleb on a transfer and there are similarities to the cole tapping up where a fuss was made by wenger about tapping up and ended up selling a player who wanted out anyway and got a top player in the bargain. i think he may feel it’s to get someone else for hleb say kranjcar, nasri and wants to get the best possible value for hleb.

good to see players like clichy, fab, gilberto and even ade and bendtner spelling out their loyalties to the club . that some of their agents hinting otherwise is another thing altogether.

it’s good to see we are being linked to players for a change . lot of news regarding ben arfa, nasri, barry even one about raul albiol and sergio ramos :-) probably most are frivolous but it keeps the news away from our own !!

Klon: “A footballers earning life is what 10 - 15 years other professions are what 30 - 40. So even the short term ridiculous salary package should be balanced with a long term view.”

I see what you are saying and could go even further in that a bad injury, loss of form, etc could drastically reduce the career length of a footballer at top wages. However, say just two years at £55k per week would have given Flamini nearly £6 million gross!

If, and it’s a big IF (!), I earned £55,000 per YEAR in my office job for a 40 year career I’d still earn less than half of what he had in just 2 years!

Do you see what I mean? The difference in career length makes very little difference in terms of the hideous wages they earn.

I agree with Toronto, no one is irreplaceable! We say not Fab but how many of us thought he could take the place of Viera? no one! so there is someone with the talent out there to do what he does, though i too would HATE to see him leave. Surely, Fab is the best in his position in the world.

Klon, you say that footballers play for 10-15 yrs and regular folk work 30-40. so this needs to be taken in perspective as far as pay, here it is.

one year as a baller at 30,000 a week = 1,560,000

One reg worker 30,000 for 30yrs = 900,000

get the point?

I never really thought of how Hleb really didnt have a end product (blinded by his skill). As far as i see players who want to leave, we should get rid of them with the QUICKNESS. We cannot compete financially at present and some will want to get the bigger pay day. So unless we want that russian dude to buy the team we have to be patient, it will happen for us! Song can replace flamini and Arsene will buy a great defender, mid feilder and striker. I also do wish he would buy a world class GK.

I will say this again, u get some of the most constructive reasonings on this blog, its a pleasure to read.

God Bless!!!

1,560,000/yr

G4life sorry i agree as a center midfielder cesc is out of this planet. I am sorry reading you comment but not taking it in.

Barca would never let Messi go so futile wishfull thinking. We have a ready made hleb replacement in Merida, Vela.

But where is our technically gifted flamini replacement with workrate to boot. Because by all accounts Diaby would be great but i think most arsenal fans would agree that his workrate sucks NEVER tracks back and loves to hog the ball with pointless mazy dribbles.

although he can score good goals. Which is why wenger has never trusted him in CM.

Song CAN replace flamini!!

Carlitos, re Wenger’s always saying his priority is “keeping the squad together”… I’ve been wondering for some time now if that doesn’t have to a little to do with what he went thru at Monaco, if that experience informs his outlook. I don’t think he’s ever quite forgotten that experience. He saw a brilliant squad with some of France’s finest players break up, mainly due to Tapie’s corruption of the league. Just a thought.

I’ve always loved Hleb and I will very much miss him but he’s looked increasingly unhappy this season. He’s become more visibly frustrated, his body language has suggested that he simply isn’t happy playing in England. He rarely talks to the press but twice now I remember his few comments relate to how he feels unprotected by referees in England.

I know it’s naive to expect loyalty and gratitude from players these days but it’s nonetheless highly disappointing to see a player who would’ve played in obscurity in Belarus had it not been for Wenger’s belief and faith in him going off to play in a club that does not have the prestige and status of a Milan or Real Madrid. If he were leaving for the glamour of Milan or RM, I could at least accept that he believes it’s a step up. Still, I think he wants to leave England period, and Inter are top European club.

I recommend that everyone go and watch Arsene’s Q&A session on Arsenal TV if you can access it on the official site. It’s going to be repeated a couple of times in the coming days. Very interesting discussion. The shareholders asked some good questions.

One shareholder asked Arsene why he doesn’t use first team players in the later stages of the CC, since that would enable the team to win a trophy and would build a momentum for winning more. Arsene replied that he felt he’d made the mistake of playing first teamers last season in the final stages of the CC because players got injured and suspended, and were then unavailable for the league. He said the same thing happened this season.

He also pointed out Arsenal’s consistency in the CL, saying that only 4 European clubs have been in the CL every year in the last 10 years, and Arsenal is one of them.

There’s a lot more to the Q&A, it would be great if someone somewhere would transcribe it.

And I agree, the club needs to do something quickly to forestall the impression of an exodus. Also, arseblogger today points something out that all fans should be aware of. He mentions the report about Ade demanding 80,000 pounds. Arseblogger then quotes this from the same article:

“All that could be solved if the club were to accept the help of Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov, but chairman Peter Hill-Wood and director Danny Fiszman say no.”

Arseblogger rightly identifies this as an obvious plant from Dein and his Usmanov buddy.

Paul, the problem is that Wenger does not see Song in the midfield. He made that clear in the Q&A. One of the shareholders asked him why he plays Song in the back instead of as a DM replacement for Flamini.

Arsene said that he sees Song as much better player in the defense, and that he chooses which players to play in which positions according to comprehensive, detailed critieria that he observes in training over a long period of time — mental and phyiscal critieria. So don’t expect to see Song replacing Flamini.

Paul N agreed but perhaps AW sees song as a center back? But we all know he is technically good enough to play in centermid.

I like the rest or at least most of you agree that losing Hleb would be a disappointment. The boy is talented, though I also see the merit of the argument that his skill sets would have been greatly more admired should he have had a better finishing product. I believe Paul noted that there are ready made replacements in the world market and I agree whole heartily. No one knew Sagna and now he is the best right back in the EPL (some may argue), and look what we have at left back (I happen to think our second greatest jewel, mind you just behind Cesc). Arsenal are a selling club, and that is because of the wage structure in place… you know what so be it! We may not at the moment complete every year for the title, but we entertaining and we are more than capable of beating any team on any given day. I would love for Arsenal to have more financial clout, but it seems we do not… again deal with it! It is pointless to compare Arsenal and United, the latter having almost £700 million debt to service. The Manchester brand is by far the biggest in the world, but like housing prices their is a summit and once that peak is reached devaluation of the brand shall ensue and then my fellow Arsenal fans I can foresee many clubs with poor business models to be driven to the brink. I may of course be wrong… it is merely my opinion… but I wasn’t about housing prices, ask my boss :)

It has been stated and now I shall further expand upon the same theme, this blog is for the most part an excellent and intelligent forum for Arsenal fans to meet and discuss events. YW, hats of to you for the wonderful thought and verse that have so engaged me and my fellow Gooners.

I still want Zapata (call it an early Christmas present to a loyal fan, thanks Arsene)

Song at CB is similar to Kolo & Gallas not the no nonsense stopper the team need.

He`s got the ability to play in midfield & I believe that`s where he`ll play mostly next season despite AW`s answer.

Silver Gunner, Vela & Merida are still teenagers & not ready to replace Hleb for some time, if ever.

We shouldn`t expect them to be able to step up from reserve team football & loan spells at lesser clubs to starting for our first team straight away.

If they had been good enough (Cesc) , they wouldn`t have been loaned out in the first place.

Does sny one know whether Hleb is invoking the webster clause or is this just paper talk?

wenger should stop talking because inevitably he ends up talking out his behind. we really didn’t nearly win the champions league, unlucky with the penalty yes, but losing in the quarter final is not by any stretch of the imagination close to winning it, 12 minutes to go agaisnt barca in the final is close to winning it. equally we were not close to winning the league we have been out of it since the man utd game in april, (although we really lost it after chelsea). it is all such spin it gets on my bloody nerves.

say yes we have made great improvements this year and have certainly been unlucky with injuries, and we hope to come back stronger but enough with this is the best team ever. it so clearly isn’t!!!!!!

Paulie Walnuts: “If they had been good enough (Cesc) , they wouldn`t have been loaned out in the first place.”

I don’t know about Merida but didn’t Vela have to play in Spain until he was 18 in order to meet UK work permit restrictions? Something to do with being a non-EU player.

Also, I wouldn’t always agree with the “wouldn’t be loaned if they weren’t good enough” tag. I think a lot depends on space in the team at the time they are ready for first team football. Look at Bendtner; went to Birmingham to get some experience playing up front in 1st team football rather than sitting on the bench (if that!) for us last season.

Cesc was given an opportunity in centre midfield and never looked back; other players need bedding-in first which a top Premiership club cannot afford to give to many….it doesn’t mean they’ll never make it.

Hey if us fans fell alright paying £50 - £20 every week to see 22 grown men have some fun kicking a ball around then who are the players to decline our money. Look at the end of the day if footballers are greedy it is because the fans made them so. We pay exorbitant prices for SKYsports and tickets to matches. But at the end of the day it is still a career and it is up to the player to build it so I bare Flam no grudges and wish him luck in his career.

Another interesting question at the Q&A was why there is so little return on good English players from the academy into the first team.

Arsene answered that the quality required at the top level now is so high that it’s very difficult to find local players who are good enuf at the level Arsenal are playing at. He said the same thing is happening at MU, Liverpool and Chelsea — there are not a lot of young English players coming thru from their academies either.

He said that there are about 6 or 7 good English players from Arsenal’s academy who will be good enuf for the league, and that maybe 2 of those will be good enuf for the Arsenal first team.

He also was uncomfortable when a shareholder asked him about his persistent use of Eboue in the midfield, a player who scores no goals. He really didn’t answer the question and looked a bit defensive. All he could come up with was a weak comparison between Eboue and Ray Parlour, another midfielder who scored few goals. Obviously there’s no comparison between the two players.

dan, Arsene can hardly stop talking when he’s asked to answer questions from shareholders. But I understand your point about his spin getting on your nerves. I’ve just gotten used to it that I shrug it off.

it is complete hypocracy to start on players that leave us for money and bigger clubs as all our purchases are based on the same principals.

Wenger has got it wrong on Eboue and i dunno what is going to happen next time around.

Btw… wenger seeing no particular reason to buy or at least loan a striker seems worrying to me…. who we got if RVP remains injured??
Not again ade all by himself plzz!!!!

NY on arsenal.com there is an article that says this is the best team ever, nothing to do with the Q&A. it is just complete spin.

Huntelaar is really torres type finisher with very good aerial ability.

My wishlist (again!!! as if saying so many times increases the chances)

Huntelaar, Kranjcar and any hulk of a CB

NYMarcus,

That was rubbish. On the Eboue question he said that there were many ways to contribute to a team besides scoring. He thought that Eboue brought balance to the side and he had defensive and attacking abilities etc. His point was that Arsenal had scored as many goals as Manu and Chelsea so it did not matter where they came from…our problem was long balls down the middle into defence. The comparison with Ray Parlour was that Ray did not score many goals either. If you are a fan and you can’t get it right when you have just watched AW on film then what chance the rabid press.

By the way I thought the quality of the supporters asking the questions left a lot to be desired. Slightly witless some of them.

dan PSML.

Wenger the politician!!! But we can all see where he was coming from!!!

I do believe Merida and Vela can fill the void if Hleb left my question is whether Song and Delilson will be good enough to play there consistenly of the course of the season, because if they are AW would have played them in march when Hleb, Cesc started showing signs of tiredness.

I just had a though if Hleb were to leave AW could change the way we play back to two holding midfielders ala the double winning formation of 98′.

Ade
Van persie, Cesc, Walcott
Denilson Song
Clichy Toure Gallas Sagna

Guys let me know your thoughts, this would give the defense the cover they have missed at times this season, just a thought

Danny 27,

I think you`re right about Vela & non-EU but my point is I can`t see either Merida or Vela being an immediate replacement for Hleb. I hope both are long term assets but we shouldn`t expect too much too early.

I`m with Dan on some of the spin coming from Arsene too. Sometimes it`s just hot air - he needs to choose his words more carefully.

You really don’t like AW very much do you Dan.

Paulie, Silver, Dan

I hope you never get to manage a team of youngsters…your negativity would grind them into the ground before they had done their boots up.

Frank i thinkDan likes AW, i think he just feels that AW sometimes sidesteps questions and half answers some questions in much the same way that politicians do when they dont want to divulge their ture intentions.

Paulie Walnuts my point is that between them we have more than adequate cover to cope for Hleb’s departure what we really need that dynamic midfielder with the technique to retain the ball in tough games like flamini did so well in both the milan legs.

‘…hypocrisy, spin, gets on my bloody nerves, talking out of his behind…’ strange expressions for someone you like, don’t you think, Silver.

Dan, do you like AW or not?

Frank, you are correct in what you said about Arsene’s entire response to the Eboue question, I’d forgotten the rest of it, but I’m sorry, I think his comparison to Parlour was a very weak and indefensible one. Yes, Parlour didn’t score a lot of goals but he brought a helluva lot more to the team than Eboue does.

And I can’t agree with you about the questions asked, I think some of them at least challenged Arsene, which I think is right. Certainly not challenging enuf but you can’t expect a lot from that venue. What was witless was the sycophantic nature of the guy sitting with Arsene and conducting the Q&A.

I’m a strong defender and admirer of Arsene Wenger and I detest a lot of the histrionic criticisms all over the Arsenal blogs about him. One of the worst for me is the ludicrous and offensive accusation that Arsene is just obsessed with his own ego in wanting to prove to the world that he can succeed cheaply, that he doesn’t care about the club at all. I’ve gotten into massive arguments with other gooners about that.

That doesn’t mean, however, that I deify the man and don’t see his weaknesses. I don’t think his response to the Eboue question was convincing or satisfying in any way, I stand by that.

Frank i am am not negative just a realist, I am a great advocate of if you are good eneough you play.

Only youngsters i don’t think are good enough at the moment are Diaby in CM hence why he is often on the left wing and Eboue on the right possibly suffering learning a new position and lapses in concentration/awareness of teamates.

NYMarcus, wash your mouth out the guy with AW was Bob Wilson. One of the greatest advocates for the club there ever was.

And did i mention if we get Auguero at 30 million + eboue and even Ade on offer we should take it..

he he kidding…
At madrid wont have sold Torres if they wudnt be having this wonder kid…. way ahead of all others… including torres.

frank, what i said had nothing to do with being negative about the youngsters if you read my post rather than your usual pompus i am the only fan worthy enough to comment crap, (your comment about the quality of the fans surpasses even your usual huge revolting arrogance) i said they had improved and been unlucky and made no comment on any of them, all i said was to say this team is better than the one with, DB, TH, FL, PV, RP Sol etc etc is utter bolox and complete spin.

my views on wenger have not changed, done an amazing job, with limited funds he is clearly the man, however i feel he is not living in the football real world anymore and that his idealistic visions are becoming less and less relevant in the money gone mad world of football.

i also think he has the best PR in the world and for that i take my hat of to him.

NYMarcus, If you are a fan and you know that you are being broadcast globally. You do not stand up and ask questions about individual players and expect the manager to dis them. One supporter dised Eboue, one Gallas, one RvP.

Silver, You think that you know who is good enough and AW does’nt?

Dan,

I think that your comment says it all really, thanks.

Oops, I forgot that was Bob Wilson! Sheesh, totally spaced that out! Still acted like a total sycophant.

By the way I do think AW is the best thing to happen to Arsenal football club, but i dont think he is infalable and DOES make mistakes, like all humans do.

I dont blame the club for its wage structure because it will no doubt help the long term sustainabilty of the club.

The problem we have is if we dilli dalli when it comes to contract renuals we will loose out to clubs willing to pay monster wages, lets hope they learn their lessons.

i think many fans if given the opportunity to ask just one question to wenger would say, eboue? what the hell!!!! he has been a disaster at RM this year, i think that is one issue that probably has more agreement than anything else this year.

for a manager who studies statistics etc etc and supposed to be the best in the business this is one area, the fact that eboue has played pretty well every game when available this year where one can legitimately ask why?

parlour was fantastic and a legend even included in arsene’s all time 11, eboue can not even clean his shoes.

Frank this is a blog in which we offer OUR views on what we feel about our beloved football team, and my view echo what AW has done.

Answer this question how many times have you seen Diaby playing in CM this season when he was purchased as “the next Viera” why you may ask becuse he doesn’t have the same defensive qulities that Viera did.

Anyway only time will tell but I doubt that Ebuoe will be playing right wing next season he has had his chance and AW weak responce when posed the Eboue question is an answer in itself.

Frank dude I think you misunderstand me :)

Frank, geezus, you really overreact!

One shareholder simply asked the question about RVP’s injury record — you don’t think that’s a perfectly reasonable question? Arsene’s answer, was fair — he’s a world class player and you simply hope that his spate of injuries will cease (as they did with Clichy, e.g.).

One shareholder simply asked Arsene to address the doubts about Gallas as captain. Again, a perfectly reasonable question as it has been a huge talking point for us this season. Arsene’s answer, I thought, was reasonable.

About Eboue, the shareholder simply compared him to Arsene’s great goal-scoring midfielders like Ljunberg and Pires, asking his opinion on this, pionting out Eboue’s poor record. I understand perfectly that Arsene did not feel comfortable in responding to alleged weaknesses of individual players, that’s fair. His point about goals coming from all over the pitch, that our goal-scoring record is just as good as ManU and Chelsea, etc. was also fair. However I don’t think he really addressed the concerns that supporters have about Eboue.

Anyway the shareholder asked a question that has preoccupied many, many Arsenal supporters. Rival fans ask us constantly why in the world Arsene keeps Eboue. It is a constant point of debate among gooners and it is perfectly reasonable for a shareholder to bring up this issue to Arsene.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with these challenging questions about the team. I guess all you want is a session in which shareholders fawn all over Arsene, thank him for everything and ask him questions like “what’s your favorite color?” and “what are you doing on your summer vacation?”

G4life i agree aguerro would be sick but it would take silly money to prise him away form Athletico Madrid.

Glad to hear it Silver. I don’t think he will dilly dally with contract negotiations. Flamini was always going to go and he probably put himself in the shop window. Don’t know about Hleb. I believe AW when he says that the press focus upon a player leaving but in reality there are a lot more wanting to join the club. I think he will turn up a couple of real gems.

What intrigues me is why a real suporter would want to desperatley search out AW’s weaknesses. A bit underhand isn’t it? I wonder if the negative stuff, not from you necessarily, says more about the commenter than AW.

silver/ny,

you should know by now that certain people get very upset if you have a brain and ask a question and ever have the audacity to question wenger. to some he can do no wrong and they are perfectly entitled to that view as are others who have their own concerns. what is a shame is that they think they are so superior to the others however to me not to question in any walk of life is a real cop out.

No MY Marcus, I expect questions about his strategy, which players are coming through, the impact of the stadium, football finances, player fitness, football as an art form, where does he believe that football is going, how to involve more youngsters, how to involve more fans. He slipped in some of those points himself without being asked.

Eboue has obvious skills but he is sometimes frustrating. But what do you expect AW to say?

You are being slightly disingenuous about the RvP question…tha ‘fan’ called him the club ’sicknote’.

Come on Dan, catch up.

goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=690012

great article here AW has set a points total of 90-92 points for next season this is the kind of talk that we need and he has acknowledged that we have missed key players this season through injury and has said that we would be buying a defensive player and a creative player.

Silver,

He said that in the interviews that NYMarcus is discussing. He actually said we scored many more points this year than last year and so why not 90-92 next year. Did’nt really set it as a target though.

You should try and watch the interview, he was very impressive.

Dan you are right no human is infallable and we should always question something if we feel it isn’t right. It is a naural human quality.

Frank I only have questions for somethings AW has done, I am not saying in anyway that i could do a better job and i do think AW IS the only man for arsenal.

So Frank/Dan you are both right AW has to be questioned if we feel he has made a mistake this is not negetivity but positive critism, becuse we all love our club.

Depends how well qualified and informed your criticism is though, doesn’t it Silver?

Well I am not a football manger but have been playing and watching football for 20 years.

Not as long as some but i like to think I am only critical where necessary as not just for the sake of it?

Like all here few of us if any are proper footy managers.

Sorry Silver, I was not referring to you specifically. Sort of rhetorical question. It is just that some criticise unnecessarily when they have no facts or background information. I think that AW is one of the wisest people I have ever known in football. I would imagine that the press hate that becuse they believe that fans are stupid and that it is the hacks job to inform the proles not Arsene’s. He is a real phenomenon and needs all the support he can get. Probably one of the most direct and truthful people in football with huge empathy with players and almost no friends in the press and media.

correct frank, and yours are no more informed or qualified than anyone else’s here.

Frank, those are excellent questions and I only wish they had been asked. Unfortunately, it was not a longer session! They only had about an hour. Yes, the guy did call RVP a “sicknote.” I just don’t think that’s as bad as you think it is. And no, I did not expect Arsene to address problems with specific players, I just did not buy the comparison with Parlour.

And I don’t “look for” weaknesses in Arsene, that’s not how I think. In fact, I overlook a lot of stuff that others pick on mercilessly.

I think that’s a very unfair interpretation on your part of what is in fact basic, measured, realistic reasoning. There are gooners who deliberately search for any negative twist they can put on anything Wenger does or says, they are emotionally invested in hating on Wenger and are totally irrational. They are immune to reason.

But there are others who see the man for what he is: a great manager with extraordinary abilities whose achievements with Arsenal (not just trophies) are pretty unique; and a human being capable of making mistakes. You can support him and admire him (I think he’s one of the most remarkable men in the history of sport) but that doesn’t mean you romanticize him. I’ve read all the Wenger biographies and I only wish all the haters could read more about him because he’s had a remarkable life.

But I for one prefer to remain grounded in the real world. Because I am such an admirer of Wenger, my emotional inclination is to just ignore his imperfections. I sometimes do that, against my better judgment. But I can’t always do that because I prefer have my brain control my heart.

I find your attitude to be just as extreme as those who demonize Arsene into a ridiculous caricature that bears no relation to reality.

Ah there you are Dan. Very good well done.

Oh and I agree, Frank, I think Wenger (for the most part) was very impressive in the Q&A. I always enjoy watching Arsene, he’s never boring.

Let’s make one thing clear: it is not Arsenal’s lack of ambition that makes players want to leave. That is ridiculous. Don’t believe your club is the least bit inferior to Milan, Inter Milan (ha!), or Real Madrid (the circus!!!). With a tiny bit of luck we could have one the double this year. Players just say that to cover themselves because they can’t come out to the fans and say it is all about the money. If you left your wife/husband for a millionaire I am sure you would say it was love and personal chemistry as well.

Second, the agents make there money off people moving around, adding to the greed. Add to that kickbacks (Italy and Belorus, don’t kid yourself). The Webster rule, of course, just plays into this.

Third, to be a bit pedantic: A point for Yogi. What does it mean ‘not learning f
