Madrileño Hyenas Are On The Prowl, Adebayor Gets Motivated And Transfer Gossip Rarely Has A Basis In Truth

Did I mention yesterday that this summer would see Cesc targeted by Real? They did not even wait for summer to begin with Ramon Calderon starting the Chinese water treatment by telling anyone who would listen, and that was all of theworld’s media outlets, that he greatly admired young Fabregas and as he wanted to make Madrid more ‘Spanish’, Cesc would be the perfect player. Without the slightest hint of irony he said,

Every coach likes him (Fabregas) but my policy is that it has to be the player who makes the first step for the signing because we don’t want conflicts with any team

Perhaps Calderon thinks that Flamini’s departure and Hleb’s unsettled status would make the maestro tell Arsene that he would like to chuck his ticket in? On the subject of Hleb, one small nugget that seems to be missed by the media in throwing their worldly-wise morsels around is that the Byelorussian leaving under the provisions of Article 17is not quite as straightforward as it is portrayed. Hleb has a fifteen day window withinwhich he may advise Arsenal of his intention to terminate his contract. That timescale commences as soon as the club has played its last official match of the season, i.e. this Sunday after Sunderland. It is reasonable to assume that the speculation about his future will intensify between the 12th and 26th of this month. And gossip I am sure people will.

Jens Lehmann’s parting shot at the club is being interpreted as a bitter swipe at Arsene,

Something is wrong. The way we tried to do it with just young players playing beautiful football did not work. If we don’t win things it is either my fault for not playing well enough or you have to ask yourself other questions

Far from being anything of the sort, it is a pertinent observation, the content of which you would expect Arsene to be doing. Strengthening the squad covers exactly that and you can pick any of several hundred players linked to club on what seems to be an almost daily basis.

Emmanuel Adebayor has received a very public motivational speech from Arsene,

There is some room for him to improve - and that makes me very positive. I believe he has to keep a good working attitude. We have seen players before, when they start getting the recognition, they ease off in their teamwork, and very quickly, they die. If Ade keeps his work ethic, there is still 20 per cent more to come from him. Does he want it enough - to get this extra 20 per cent out? Well that is where his future lies. If you lose that desire, you quickly become a nobody

He improved more than twenty per cent this season so if he can get another six goals or more next time around, that will be phenomenal. However, that does not exclude the others from their scoring responsibilities. Having removed Henry from the equation, the midfield set about finding the net more regularly at the start of the season when Adebayor was missing. However, once he returned they quickly settled into a familiar pattern which created a problem or two in the winter / spring spell of poor form. A consistent goalscorer from the midfield would solve the issue of who will score when
Adebayor and his fellow strike partners are confronted with a well-drilled defence.

Arsene continued,

I believe our quality of the season overall has been absolutely outstanding, but because we have ended up without any trophies, people are naturally very negative. We have to take a distance from that, and say that we have produced quality and we have produced consistency. We know we need to improve our killer instinct, but keep believing in this team because it is very special

It is not just the supporters who have to do this but the players must buy into that vision. Whilst they have much personal loyalty to Wenger on the whole, successful challenges for titles must follow otherwise the elite will move sooner than expected.

Take Fabregas for example. He has been in the team for four years, and has passed a double century of games. If he keeps that rate up, by twenty-eight he could have become the clubs record number of appearances and still be free to move on in his peak. That highlights the precedent he has set and by which many quickly judge youngsters coming through. However, the new signings will be more crucial to the club; they breathe belief into existing players, re-invigorating them, motivating if they are competitors for places.

For some of the support, the only way they will forget their ‘negative’ feelings will be to see Arsene bring in a ‘big-name’ straight away, failing to remember that this is not his style. The pattern of the summer signings is likely to be a youngster first, followed by two players who are perhaps in their early twenties, on the fringes of their respective international squads. That might not satisfy them but it should not be forgotten that despite his excellent record at that level, Eduardo only had a dozen or so appearances before joining and Bacary Sagna was not in the French set-up. The summer is likely to be long and full of speculation unless Arsene moves quickly.

Euro2008 will prolong that agony unless the business is done beforehand although that need not preclude any signings as Tomas Rosicky proved when he joined in the summer of 2006. Patience is an easy virtue to preach but difficult to provide. The key to it is to never lose sight of the fact that simply because a news outlet says Arsene is interested in a player does not mean it is true. Indeed, it probably means the opposite. When they sign for someone else, before bemoaning that fact, ask yourself whether you think Arsene even contacted their employers. The reality is probably not.

‘til Tomorrow.

nstead of posting some inane comment I thought I’d ask you all for some help.
I’ve got a really tight race in the official Fantasy Premier League. I’m too point clear of my great rival going into the last week of the season.
I can afford to bring in two players..

Kirkland

Brown, Clichy, Wheater, R Ferdinand

Downing, Butt, Fabregas, Ronaldo (C)

Torres, Santa Cruz

Subs: Gordon(GK), Sharner, Muamba, Defoe

What should I do?

Adebayor? Drogba?
Fabregas is out so that means I need a midfielder.
Or go three upfront: Drogba/Ade, Torres, Santa Cruz?
Got some spare cash (£1M).

Cesc is more likely to head to Barca than Madrid I would suspect he considers himself Catalan first rather than Spanish too. Having Dein’s son as an agent probably means his agent is under less Iberian pressure to engineer a deal.

I used to think it was clubs picking on Arsenal but Ronaldo gets the same at Man Utd

I wonder if Deco might be a good shout Barca will be having a clear out this summer. However I’m sure Wenger has presented his target list and the club (Ken Friar) are working on it. The reason we get so many stories written is because the club don’t link stories to the press.

YW interesting as usual

AW likes to spin but I believe the team is special only when you can keep them together. You guys spin together with him saying that the Flamster now is no longer important as he is only a one season wonder just because he is leaving and Hleb who part of a triumvirate in our mid field that dazzled thsi season. Thsi team is special when we can add to it a very strong CB and left Wing plus a world class keeper. My advice is that we do not dissed Hleb but try to keep him. He will be shotting soon and then with his fantastic dribbling skill we can move on to conquer the world. NOw is not the time to disband but to add strength.
I can not believe the spin you guys put up, we need everyone in this season and we need to add experience to the squad.
Flamster leaving is a minor disaster let it not get worse by Hleb leaving.

Up The Arse!!!

Nice work Yogi, cheered me up this morning. I had got rather depressed after reading the Guardians latest hatchet job on Wenger and the club.

I just can’t quite get my head around why journalists prefer to cobble together unsubstantiated gossip to create an article, rather than use simple facts that are down in black and white. Facts like the accounts of Red Football that show the true cost of Manchester Uniteds season.

I think it’s quite interesting that Arsene has decided to air publicly his motivational speech to Adebayor. Should we read much into this? Has he been showing signs of not putting the effort in? He has peformed outstandingly at times, with performances that have left the opposition CBs in a mess. No player turns it on every game but Arsene must feel that he can get more out if he puts more in. Is this a tactic to stop him having his head turned by a the praise from another club?

I think you’re right about the whole transfer situation- we’d all like Arsene to buy two or three players as soon as the transfer window opens and then have a period of calm before August. Inevitably it’s more complicated than that- other players and coaches moving tends to muddy the waters. However, it’s pretty clear we’re in for a commanding CB and a goal scoring winger. Arsene will sort it and we’ll be gagging for the new season to start.

Give Adebayor a new contract, and save the motivational speech. His agent will be knocking on many doors soon. Make no mistake about it, he deserves a new deal to keep him at Arsenal. Do we want to lose the main goal getter of 2007/08 going into next season?

well i suspected this that they would come for arsenal stars after the season.but something else caught my eye today.”wenger thinks adebayor could become a nobody”GOD!!!the guy has always been a noboddy ever since he joined aresenal.or may be wenger is blinking when the guy is busy missing match winning opportunities.the only goals he has scored were against tottenham and newcastle.the rest even injured eduardo can put them in.like that one against ac milan.i mean arsenal can make some one out of crap.if u wanna see how the guy is crap put him in a less creative team like liverpool.trust me he will be another emile heskey.

Cesc will only stay if the promise turns into reality. He has see one of his midfield partners go and another one on his way.Cesc needs to be winning trophies.Thats bollox about him beating the apperance record, what good is that compared to winners medal. We have to start acting like a big club and keep our best players and bring in some world class players ie David Villa.Cesc is a better player than Lumpard but who has the medals.

Great article, Yogi’s W.

On Arsene’s comments about the the squad needing to find a killer instinct, there’s a really good post up on Arsenal Mania about what constitutes a “good” squad. It concludes, as you do, that what we have missed is goals from midfield, and ties in with Arsene’s remarks by also commenting that we have too many fantastic footballers and not enough matchwinners, which is why we draw some matches that we should win. So perhaps this summer is Arsene’s opportunity to get one or two in!

Elle Phant
Cesc is a better playmaker tha frank lampard no doubt… but lampard scores some gr88 goals from mid and most of them are very important ones. Playmaker midfield to augment cescy plays will be visually aethetic no doubt… but goals from wings and few more important goals from ade and bendtner would be too crucial.

And i think its Bendtner who scores the vital goals than Ade. If Ade’s tally comes down to 15 next season…with 6 of them coming against the top 4… I would be more than happy.

For all the unsolicited advice that we’re giving Wenger and the Board about players and their contracts, I have to admit that the long-term contract that Cesc signed a couple of seasons ago shocked quite a few of us. Credit to Wenger for his vision in seeing much earlier what we now only see.

Luke

Contracts mean nothing.Henry signed a 4 year deal and was gone a year later and Helb has 2 years left on his contract but will be gone in the summer.Dont be suprised if Cesc will be wearing a Barc shirt next season and Henry and Deco wearing Arsenal shirts.

Harry

You’re right of course. At least it ensure that Cesc won’t go on a “free”. For sure, none of us want to see Cesc go. In Henry’s case, on hindsight, we did get a decent fee compared to Henry’s market value today.

This is painfull - speculate as much as we want but we all know whats gonna happen. We’ll wake up one day to the confirmed news of a new Arsenal signing.. one that we probably never saw coming, and will turn out to be quite good. We may even get a couple in.. Arsene does things his way.. we just watch on.. Scoring midfielders are my wish..

With regards to the guy who asked about his Fantasy football fixtures.. Chelsea need to score, so if you cant get a united striker in.. I suppose old Dogbreath/ joe cole would be a decent punt?!

Elle (or whatever you are calling yourself today) ;-)

The point about Fabregas that you missed is that too many compare other youngsters and he when Cesc is unique; that he could get to 28 and set that kind of record indicates that.

Yes he needs to win medals, which player does not? It is up to all of them to pull together and handle the pressure better. They have had a hard time this season so will learn from it. It’s all part of growing up in public.

YW

Can you imagine wot some of our players are thinking now that one of our best midfielders this season is leaving. Im a very positive Arsenal fan and i hate to say it, but Wenger has a very very important summer where i think its Make or Break for the team. I mean this in a way which where many of our players will be considering their futures as their efforts are not rewarded as such as other players from other clubs… Yes we play the most exciting football, but is that enough, we all now how much they enjoy playing at Arsenal and how much we love to watch it. But is this enough to keep players like Cesc, Adebayor from moving on to more successful teams who also pay better..?? well Flamini didn think so.

The only way show our players and fans as well how ambitious we are is to show that in the transfer market this summer, preferrably as soon as the last game has finished!.. For me i would love to see David Villa, every1 knows what he can do, it will bring a big boost to the teamspirit and us fans. Wenger if your reading BUY BUY BUY… i dont like us changing our team alot, but we need some more creativity and a scoring attacking midfielder in our squad.

Diaby will come good next season i reckon if hes played more central. Hleb must stay and we ready to challenge once again. Oh yeah and sort the centre of defense out… something must be done, but its a tricky situation with Gallas and Toure. It aint workin too well in every1s eyes.

Diaby has to up his work rate and concentration if he is to step up he is also rather injury prone.

Flamini left for cash not because he didn’t expect to win medals, indeed he might find himself a fringe player again at Milan who already have a number of defensive midfield players.

A great deal of nonsense is written on various Arsenal blogs about Arsenal needing to “act like a big club”.

Decoded, what this really means is that the club should simply model the behaviour of their English & European counterparts, in terms of their current transfer policy; wage structures;and how they deal with disgruntled players, amongst other things.

Historically Arsenal have been, and continue to be, a big English club. And during the Wenger years, Arsenal have been growing exponentially, both on and off the pitch.

However, the point to note is that Arsenal have acted as a big club - and will continue to act - on their own terms, with their own unique values, beliefs, attitudes and visions.

They don’t necessarily need to model their behaviour on other clubs, and nor should they.

Yogi
agree with you on the fact that cesc is miles ahead of lampard at his age… but the thing is…he might not be with us when he is at his peak.

yes we have our own values and ways to run the game our way… but if you want to go that extra yard and be successful once in 2 years at least… you need to be a bit more thotfull abt satisfying the fans with a few “seemingly dummy” transfers which have all probabilities of getting paid off with wenger’s vision of talent…. not many just the odd ones.

its like hitting sixes in cricket when most fans want it.

Pay can’t be the issue. Any footballer of Flamini’s level is going to be happy with £2.6million a year unless they’re really greedy. If they paid him another £1.3M (75K per week) it doesn’t make it worth it when you’ve got to take a move, a new house, fees blah, blah. Sure he’ll make a packet elsewhere but we’re nowehere near paying our players poorly.

Either he’s got other reasons, is REALLY struggling for cash (i.e. massively in debt), or just extremely greedy.

What if Wenger had coughed up another £25K per week? I don’t think it would have changed things.

We’d all give the same answer to the question:
Would you rather earn a little less to do what you love, with a fair boss and an honourable company OR would you rather earn a little more to fill a position covering for someone the boss likes.

gunner4life

Think about what you are saying.

What if ‘in all probabilities’ they do not get paid off in terms of success.

For the sake of argument; say we did not sign Eduardo for 8.5 million, say we signed David Villa for a fee similar to Fernando Torres 25million.

Say we signed him for 5 million a year for five years - so thats another 25 million spent, 50 million in all.

So all in all that would be 25 million out the first year, plus 5 million in wages, thats 30 million gone from the P&L - almost the entire profit for the year.

Plus you have still got 20 million wages sitting as a current liability on your balance sheet, alongside the debt interest and whatever else.

So your profits have evaporated straight away and your balance sheet is weaker - but you have David Villa.

Now you are more vulnerable to takeover. Nice.

Not only that but say like Eduardo, David Villa takes 4 months to acclimatise and thus doesn’t help you out a huge amount on the pitch.

After that 4 months like Eduardo, David Villa scores a few goals and it looks like the title is on.

But then some clogger from Birmingham breaks Davids leg and leaves the jagged bone sticking out of his sock.

You finish the season 4 points behind the winners, just like the season before.

So what now?

Are the ‘fans’ satisfied?

How many shirts do you think 50 million quid is? I’ll tell you - 1,428,571 @ £35 a pop. Unlikely to make our money back there then, especially as the incremental revenue from additional shirts less shirts otherwise sold is going to be negligable. And we certainly didnt’ make our money back on the pitch, did we?

This my friend is why they say ‘Arsene knows’. Because he does.

Arsenal Football club cannot sustain transfers that ‘will satisfy the fans’ at the moment with the issues surrounding the club - in the future yes, but not now.

If some fans want to mortgage the future for their own myopic view then I for one say we don’t need those fans because they will do more harm than good.

Arsene has proved time and again that he can pull the rabit out of the hat for relative peanuts - Sagna 6 million, Eduardo 8.5 Million. No risk to the club, but no ’satisfied fans’? Or are there; because I for one, and everyone I know is damned well happy with those two players, and with Ade, with Hleb, with Cesc, with Flam(!), with Kolo etc etc etc etc etc. A couple more like them and we are away, four points ain’t a lot.

Amen

Sensible thoughts as always, YW.

One thought: was Wenger saying that we, i.e. The Arsenal, did not have as big a transfer fund as had been touted by the media maybe not the smartest thing he has done, especially in terms of comforting the players and their ambitions and hopes for a big signing to help them in the search for a title? Or do you think that it’s another smokescreen, that in fact we do have a lot of cash, or simply that the players, Flam apart, don’t care, have faith in the squad and AW or maybe they are in the know?

Amen, Josef K.

i think wengers share the dream speech is naive the overwhelming majority of players care about trophies and cash only and until he realizes that he will be getting more flaimi type disappointments. an interesting thing he said which some of us kept saying was that foriegn players are more likely to move than english players, again a lesson to heed.

ckasih

Thats very interesting, but since Allah means the same thing, and addtionally since Christians if they were going to be correct should use the name ‘Yahweh’ - I don’t think it matters!

Dan

You may have a point about naivety were we viewing Wengers philosophy through the microcosm of the last 6 months.

But we are not, we have twelve odd years to look back at - and the evidence of those twelve years conflicts with the naive tag.

The comment re. Foreign player being more likely to move is mere logic, they moved to come to England ergo moving abroad is obviously not an issue for them!

Amen, Josef K.

i agree about the past 12 years to a certain extent, however we do now have more foreigners than ever before, these players are coming at a younger age than before, also like it or not we are less successful than we have been under his reign and again like it or not there is more money in football now than ever and the lure of more money elsewhere is more pertinent now

I will hate it if there are no idealists left on and off the pitch. Call them naive if you will, but they have their own unique values and philosophies. Take the issue of winning but not entertaining vs winning AND entertaining. Fans pay good money to be entertained by the Henrys, the Pires, the Bergkamps, the Fabregases and not cynicism on the pitch to win at all costs. The Invincibles epitomise the idealist’s belief of perfection that I’ll never forget.

i can not see how we will ever be able to repeat such a wonderful team, with such amazing players who clearly loved playing for AFC. that was the ultimate footballing dream.

Josef K top comment 100% agree

I wanted to just quickly say this is an excellent blog, keep up the good work! Here’s my predicted Arsenal team next season.

Almunia
Sagna Toure Gallas(+defender with height) Clichy
Kranjcar Fabregas Makoun Rosicky
Adebayor Van Persie

My realsitic Dream team:
Gomes (psv)
Sagna Toure Bruno Alves Clichy

Quaresma Fabregas y.toure Ben arfa
Van Persie
Adebayor

Very very well said Josef K. Thanks

you made my day josef k.thank you

AW is very careful about the type of person he buys.

It`s not just footballing talent he looks for. They have to have a certain temperament & be winners.

If David Villa for instance is 25M then that`s out of our league no matter how good he is. (& that`s debatable)

The boss has dug nuggets up before - I expect him to again

Spot on JK. Great post Yogi and many more to come.

Arsene slammed Flamini as a quitter, and a money seeker. I think he is right, Flamini probably thought this is the best time for himself to capitalize on a good year. I don’t think he is that sure of himself and probably thought he might easily lose his place at Arsenal’s midfield. He decided I should go with the highest bidder now before my high rising stocks fall again. Fair enough, if you don’t believe in the vision of Manager & Club, you should not be there because it was never about money.

TH14 could’ve manipulated the club or any club in the course of at least six years of his career from age 22 to 28 but he never did. Even when Barca link started to become clearer he signed a contract a year before leaving so the club can get some money from his departure. That’s the kind of players we welcome at Arsenal, and not Flamini. Come to think of it now, he probably figured out that he had to “Had to” play his ass off this year, so he can secure a move. AC Milan might find out they signed a fake Gattuso…good luck!

We may think this is a bad thing for us, but it may end up a better thing after all.

G4E,

i think you are harsh on flamini, he is out for himself only and to expect anything else in my opinion is plain naive. he has gone to a euro giant and being paid significantly more than at arsenal. why would he stay for wenger’s vision, he is a player not a fan!!!!

who’s to say wenger’s vision won’t remain just that, there are no gaurantees that it will succeed and in fact probably won’t. us as fans have no choice but to stick with it, but players don’t and won’t.

Good posts Gunner4Ever and Josef K

Gunner4Ever - Henry was the highest paid on Arsenal and ranked up there as one of the highest paid in the Premiership, so it wasn’t a big deal and we were winning as well.

Flamini is a defensive midfielder. Generally, they aren’t going to put bums on seats, people buying t-shirts, etc. Milan isn’t exactly a small team, so why not go?

He had a really good season, but it took him some time to find his passing range in the midfield. 3 years, actually.

Enough with the naivety dan, holding the club to ransom because you had a “one” good season is plain selfish crap. no one is saying players should play for free, but there is a balance between money and the love for what you do.

Why would a Ronaldo stay at Man Ure when Barca or Real can offer him more? Why would Gerrard stay with Liverpool if Chelsea can offer him more? There must be at least a %30 belief in the club, manager, and fans you play for.

“who’s to say wenger’s vision won’t remain just that, there are no gaurantees that it will succeed and in fact probably won’t. us as fans have no choice but to stick with it, but players don’t and won’t.”

With your same logic, no one should stick with anything. You go where it benefits “only” you. So if you don’t share the club & manager vision why would you stick with it? Why would you pay a huge some for a season ticket if you don’t believe in the club or manager and in many cases the players too? You don’t have to believe %100 but you should believe enough to remain a supporter.

Begeegs,

Agree TH14 was the highest paid by Arsenal standards, but at his best and if he really wanted money he could’ve got double the pay from Barca or Milan or whichever club his heart desired.

If it took Flamini 3 years to find his range, it proves the point that he is an average player and wanted to capitalize on his only good season before it’s too late or lose his place and become an Arsenal nothing. He succeeded in capitalizing, and yes AC Milan is a big club where you can easily found out to be an average player.

g4e,

i simply don’t understand why you think a french 23 year old, who is offered two to three times more money to play in a bigger and more prestigous club would stay at arsenal? gerrard stays at liverpool because he loves liverpool he comes from there and it is team. ronaldo is being paid a fortune at man utd and i don’t think he is being offered more at real. equally utd are the biggest club in the world winning leagues getting in to L finals, we aren’t in any shape or form the biggest club in the world and currently not winning anything.

wengers vision is taking a group of highly talented young players and competing with larger more experianced squads and hoping to beat them. again why would flamini go with that instead of going to milan.

you obviously didn’t read my point as i said as fans we do stick with it, but to expect the same for a load of mercanery players is unrealistic (there a different word). players do look after themselves just like i am sure you and i do in our own careers.

My point was the Henry and Flamini are like apples and oranges (exciting striker vs defensive midfielder) and yes, he did capitalize, but who wouldn’t have done this? Are you saying in your job, that you’d turn down an extra 20-30k a year because of loyalty to your company or boss?

I think that Arsene mismanaged the situation. Diarra was brought in thinking that he would immediately step up and take the spot off of Flamini. Unfortunately, he didn’t and Wenger sold him like a plod rather than loaning him out. Sometimes, as much as Wenger is amazing at developing players, he is too nice….

If Diarra were here now, no one would be moaning as much as they are.

G4E,

why do you think sagna, eduardo, ade, diaby, rosicky, helb etc etc all came to arsenal, for a “bigger” club and earning more money, that is the nature of football you can not say it is great when they come to us and critisize when players leave us for the same reasons.

I think Flamini left for a variety of reasons. The money, the lure of AC Milan as a giant of European football, maybe the realisation that he would struggle to hold on to a starting place in the Arsenal first XI or even his Italian roots.

I`m not sure if Wenger`s vision has been more thrust upon him with a combination of the departures of our invincibles of 2004 & the move to the Emirates but I don`t see him changing his philosophy now even if he could.

i think his position was safe at arsenal and he went for the money alone.

I don’t have millions of fans to worry about in my job Begeegs. Also the chance I got in my current position, I can get anywhere so I don’t owe any one any favors.

And what you said is no different from what I said “He just went for the money” Some people will look at it and say he is a one f*cking smart ass, and some will look at it as plain greedy & selfish. It just depends are you %100 materialistic, or can mix it up.

++ The only thing I take on myself is that I said earlier, he is gone and not worth talking about and now I opened the Flamini dialogue again :) Sorry.

JosefK

For argument sake lets say we didnt sign dudu and did villa…
25+5 million - 8.5 - 3(assuming dudu’s wages)
tht makes it 18.5 and not 30 million.

And what makes you go on and on abt ur story???

Without RVP we dont have a direct free kick takes…. how many times have we seen cesc doing nothing but chip it to far post where someone spills it….

Villa if you have seen him enf…is an excellent free kick taker…so even if i agree with you on the point tht he would have broken his leg (which is again another story) just like dudu….. it hard not to think that he would have always made the goal difference closer to united….if not convert few draws to wins….and tht boro match we all remember dont we.

I would tell you once more…. wenger is the best no doubt but playing unproven players to keep the starting expectations low on him… and then the woo from fans like you and me…. doesnt mean there is none better in his position.

And btw… Modoric was approached last season… and he was very well known as a potentially gr88 playmaker… so not everyone is an unknown quantity b4 wenger goes for him.

Please dont go by best fitting a story without any thoughts… Even I mite have missed a few points in my counter story…. but dear josef you lost the entire plot.

g4e,

that i completely agree with, he is a wanker and he is gone so let’s look forward and hope to get a good replacement. I hear diarra might be leaving pompey!!!!

just a gag!!!

And even thinking tht villa would have been playing left flankish like dudu to get into the tackle is foolish i wud say…he would have been in a more forward role…hence short time on ball…more 1-2s rather than dribbling….no broken foot…championship…hence josef…thousands stories can be made…in bullet time if you like… :D

I very much appreciate the work wenger is doing and altho none of us here will be able to comprehend the gravity he is enduring….his idologies are different and great…

the debt of manu is astounding… I wouldnt be surprised if manu dint win 2 season… and Alex gets the kick…. Thts exactly what PHW said… “we can survive without winning…whether others can?? Am not sure”

And I think all of us agree tht if dudu werent injured we wud have won convincingly….and f.u.k tht c.u.n.t taylor…he is the victim…is all tht we got…

Refs are madars (thts a hindi slang :D )…

But getting one good high profile player just to please the fans (not me….season ticket fans i mite add)… isnt wrong on anything….
All I want is us to win playing good football. F.u.c.k everything else.

Beegeegs, Wenger did look at loaning out Diarra, but he refused as he thought his chances of playing as a loan player would not be as good as if he was a permanent player. I don’t see what more Wenger could have done. Diarra was a short-sighted fool and cut off his nose to spite his face so stop crying over spilt milk.

The agonising over the loss of Flamini is reminiscent of the post TH angst, but I cannot understand why. Flamini is not in the class of TH. A player who can run around a lot win the ball (when he’s not giving away a foul) and pass the ball to Cesc to weave his magic is not that hard to find.

pass out of interest how do you know he refused?

On the other hand since I defend Wenger “a lot” :)

does he really have a right to blast Barca & Real for trying to steal some players like for example: Cesc? After all he stole Cesc from under Barca’s nose and I don’t think these people forget so easily :)

What do you guys think?

I know Cesc is now under contract and it’s different because when we got him he was not….but still.

Dan, Wenger said it at the time
