Everton Get The Blues, Gudbye To Jens And Flamini Is Off

Arsenal 1 – 0 Everton

1 – 0 Bendtner (77)

A real end-of-season game with three points gratefully received at the end and not entirely deserved. A reasonably bright start faded, as Everton were more than comfortable in containing Arsenal’s forward line, Adebayor marshalled tightly by Yobo for the whole of the ninety minutes. The visitors had set their stall out to get a point or to nick something more, Andy Johnson denied in the first half by a good Fabianski save and then Denilson cleared off the line from the resulting corner.

The match had snapped out of its’ sleepwalk as Adebayor latched onto a through ball to force a save out of Howard, a rare opportunity in the first half. If the Arsenal back four watched their opposite numbers carefully, they will have seen a well-drilled unit in operation, undone finally by an excellent cross from Traore, met with a firm Bendtner header with thirteen minutes remaining.

Fabregas, omitted through injury, was sorely missed. Denilson, a decent prospect, lacks the authority of his more experienced peer as you would expect at this stage of his career. Walcott was busy on the flanks but made little headway in the first half on the left. Switching to the right later on, he improved although like Eboue before him, the tendency to drift inside rather than take people on was infuriating. The Ivorian had what could only be described as a shocker yesterday; little that he tried came off, the only cross I can recall reaching its intended destination was in the first half was glanced wide by Adebayor.

It is not just I who thought it was a poor match, Arsene agreed observing afterwards,

The fluency was a bit difficult sometimes and you could see that it was a bit of an end-of-season-of-season game. Everton did not open up at all but we were controlled at the back. We did not create as many chances as usual but scored a great goal and just about deserved the win today

A win that kept the team unbeaten at home in all competitions this season that goes some way towards creating an intimidatory arena for opponents to step into. The step next season is to turn some of the draws into victories to allow the team to push on for another tilt at the top spot.

Jens Lehmann got to say his goodbyes and deservedly got his applause for his on the field contribution to the club’s success over the past seven years, fittingly keeping a clean sheet for his time on the pitch. Arsene was fulsome in his praise for the German,

He was the best ‘keeper in the Premier League. He reads the game well, he is brave and had all of the assets to come into the Premier League because he is not frightened of anybody

His achievement in being part of the ‘Invincibles’ will not be easily forgotten nor should it be.

Mathieu Flamini need not expect such plaudits despite a good season with the club. Reports this morning suggest that Flamini has arrived in Milan for a medical Money talks loudest in his world and that is fair enough, it is his choice but do not expect any tears to be shed from this direction. It is a curious thing that Arsene has lost two central midfielders in six months and may lose a third although he said after the game that he would like the Brazilian to stay, hardly surprising given the paucity of cover at the club at the moment!

Reports at the weekend suggest that there will be two new arrivals at the club before the end of the month, leaving Arsene with the whole summer to find a new defensive midfielder.

‘til Tomorrow.

its sad we lost both diarra and flamini..

Three points gratefully received. Winning when we are not playing well is something Arsenal need practice at, so I’m not complaining.

You’ve echoed my feelings towards Flamini exactly. It’s the duplicity I can’t abide - how many times did he tell Arsene and the fans that he wanted to stay? Whereas, it’s clear he always intended to leave and this season was about putting himself in the shop window. AC Milan is a more glamourous destination than Birmingham, which is all that was on offer this time last season.

As for replacements, Arsene has his lists already, it’s just a matter of whether the players are available and the price is right. Hopefully Gilberto will stay as he recently said he would like to, which I guess depends on how much playing time he would get. If he was happy to rotate, it would allow time for his eventual replacement to settle in and as well the young squad could do with his experience and calm around the place. He is clearly very popular and well-respected by his team mates judging by their reaction when he scored against Reading.

Huh, what new arrivals?

So Flams gone then. While not unexpected i really did hope he would stay on. You cant blame him though is the wages he will be on are true. And lets not forget its AC Milan, a world renown club. Whatever about Arsenal wo are building towards something great, Ac have been an emmense club for an age now. Its hard to turn that down. While the club should never have let it got to the current state, all the best Matty on your free transfer.

So it looks like on top of Wengers 2 or 3 top players - we will need a Flam replacement.

Mad Jens gone - Almunia(no2 at best) is our no1 backed up by Fabianski and Manone ?

Are we really on the trail of Krancjar from pompey ? I think hed fit right in. Barry from Villa ? Another who would be instantly useable with no settling in time needed. To expensive though ?

How will Vela cope ? A season like Theos is the most i would expect from young Carlos.

Wenger says we need to shore up defensively so will he spend big ona centrehalf and drop either Kolo or Gallas. Gallas backup to Clichy at left back ? Will he stand for that ? Will he be captain. Will Cesc be captain ?

Its over to you Wenger - a big summer in prospect. Will le boss get it right ? Its going to be a nightmare waiting to find out , thats for sure….

We got Flamini on a free and we lose him on a free. Chances are he will leave Milan the same way.

We paid Sol Campbell big money to bring him to the club Milan paid Flamini big money. Its a value judgement depending on need and not everyone will make the same judgement.

No problem for us - we just move on.

Flamini is gone, and I don’t think we should waste more time on any player who is not playing for us any more.

Any player can say to the media he wants to stay and play for the club, like in Flamini’s case then leaves. If you ask him, he will say I wanted to stay but I couldn’t reach an agreement with the club. Simple as that, and he wouldn’t be lying.
===

Howard, I did criticize Bendtner earlier in the season. I mostly criticized his attitude not his play. I criticize but at least I have the guts to come back and admit that he is currently doing much better on all fronts.

You can get on my back, when I criticize a player non-stop when he is playing good and when he is playing bad. That’s called hate and destructive criticism.

I liked flamini as a player and always considered him committed to the cause hence the only disappointment really is that he didn’t stay despite the money, no I have no ill feelings towards him.

Diarra exhibited a very poor attitude and no long term judgment at all. He should have stayed to fight for his place. Euro 2008 is gone after this summer does he think after leaving Chelsea and arsenal the way he did, he has shown himself with enough bottle to fight in a top team? I don’t think it was an intelligent option to move away just cos of the Euros

Amos is right about Flamini, easy come, easy go. One very good season.

More importantly, I’m ambivalent about Hleb. Great player but doesn’t influence enough games with either his performance or goals. Probably more skillful than Pires but nowhere near as improtant to the team. I’ve always thought that Hleb slows our game down, and is indecisive in posession, holding on to the ball when he could either shoot or pass. If he goes, we wont get market vlaue for him.

Firstly, a big thanks to Jens who as part of The Invincibles will always be remembered fondly.

I`ve no grudges against Flamini either. He never gave less than 100% for us & although he played with massive drive & energy this season he`s by no means irreplaceable.

I wonder what Diarra is thinking right now.

I can`t say I`m over the moon with either Kranjcar or Martins, certainly not at the prices quoted. Kranjcar is a stylist and would fit in football wise but he seems one paced & Martins blows hot & cold is is very erratic.

Also, it`s not like AW to buy from the Premiership.

More likely that he`ll bring in someone from abroad who is off the radar.

Yeah. Also, a really Big thanks to Jens. We will really miss you; I wish he would stay on for another year, but its best to leg go now I guess

I think Flamini has made a big mistake. What he has failed to realise is that he had a fantastic life at the club under Arsene, something which he will not find at any other club.
You only have to ask the like of Vieira, Petit, Anelka, Overmars and Henry and they will tell you their best times were at Arsenal.
Flamini could have played out a four year deal with the club and then gone to Italy as he would have only been twenty eight.
He will be missing a potential very special phase in the next few years, but its his decision probably bought on by a greedy scumbag of an agent.
I dont really want to say thankyou because i feel the club has done more for him than he has for us albeit after a very good season, but lets not there be any bitterness but just say good luck Mathieu, and hope you dont regret it.

Paulie

I have a feeling the Martins talk will have emanated from his agent, or ‘forces’ close to the player.

Remember how much talk there was last summer about him? All summer long, and at the end of the day it turned out to be complete fiction. I don’t imagine anything has changed.

As far as Flamini’s replacement is concerned I think we need someone who can slot in straight away, lest we lose the momentum we have picked up this year. This means we need someone from the Premier League who is acclimatised already, but the options are limited - and in some cases humiliating.

Diarra is the only like for like Flamini replacement around, I wouldn’t be upset to see us take a loss on buying him back. But I think that would be too embarrassing for the club to contemplate, and in addition I heard reports he was picking up 60k a week at pompey which would rather defeat the point of letting Flamini go.

Barry has the quality, and Liverpools interest may have unsettled him. Liverpool having been reduced to the humiliation of having to offer players in exchange rather than cash seems to suggest we could nip in with a cash offer. I have doubts over his energy however…

Other than that I think you are maybe looking at Birmingham to resign one of the old boys, Larsson or Muamba. More humiliation there then…Alternatively I think I heard Sidwell muted somewhere, but given his failure at Chelsea, and his likely wages there I can’t see it.

We need another terrier basically, preferably from the Premier League, all suggestions on a post card to A Wenger.

On the bright side, I don’t know about you guys, but the travails of one Liverpool Football Club are making my season at the moment. There is nothing better than listening to their manager and fans bleating about the number of 20 million pound players United and Chelsea have in the team as an excuse for non challenging! Years of abuse from armchair Liverpool fans have left me with a real dislike of them.

no point blaming flam, he was never going to stay or he would have signed 6 months ago. the club need to stop being so bloody naive believing this i want to stay rubbish.

they need to be more agressive with players winding down their contracts.

now we have to buy player on our limited budget, all very annoying and poor management. (denilson in my opinion certainly isn’t the answer at the moment).

we are never going to buy martins .

Martins is good, but we have alot of forward players… Adebayor, RvP, Bendtner, Walcott, plus Eduardo and Vela who can play up there. No movement for a striker in the summer, if we do then it will unsettle the team and means sum1 will have to move on which i dont want to see.

For me we need winger to fill the viod on the right, along with Hleb, Rosicky, Vela, Walcott patrolling the wing positions we have more than enough if we bought 1 wing player. CM is a bit tricky, if Gilberto decides to stay then we aint too bad for cover, but im hoping Diaby gets the nod to partnet Cesc in the middle, rememba he was our new Vieira, but sayin that with his injury records we cant rely on him so we need another player in there. (Barry would be nice - english as well)

Defence… we all know Clichy and Sagna will be starting, but at CB theres sum concern for me. Toure and Gallas were excellent for the 1st half of the season dont forget. Maybe replace Djourou or senderos with another big CB?

Almunia has not made many mistakes throughout the whole season, he will surely be no1.. maybe sum1 else will come in as cover i hope.

But most importantly keep every1 else 2geva.,.. the likes of Hleb and Diaby are quality players… Too many changes will disrupt the team in my eyes, look at our invincibles only 1 player was bought in the summer prior, and that was Lehmann.

Dreadful game on Sunday but it was great to see us win ugly.

AND I HAVE MISSED JENS ALL SEASON LONG, AND WILL CONTINUE TO!!! It took Jens to change the entire atmosphere of what was an awful game to watch. I wish Arsene had given him more games this season! Despite his conduct recently, I just can’t get angry with him. He’s given us so many wonderful memories and so many great comedy moments. I loved how he liked to wind up opposition fans, and how he took retribution against Kirkland’s timewasting last season. I’ll also never forget the Jens and Didier Show. And no gooner can ever forget that penalty against Villareal. He was also great at the 2006 wc.

GOODBYE AND THANK YOU JENS, YOU GERMAN NUTJOB YOU!!!

And to hell with you Matthieu Flamini, I hope you enjoy the bench while spending your millions.

Wenger was talking about buying 2 quality players, he may have to buy 3 now. He will look for players who are versatile and able to play in more than one position. Possibly another defender who’s good in the air and who can play in a couple of positions across the back 4 as we need cover for Clichy, or a strong, tall defensive midfielder who can be a better shield for the defence as well as a goal scoring midfielder who can play anywhere in the midfield. I think he’s still undecided about the goalkeeping position, which is why he’s testing out Fabianski. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get an experienced out of contract goalie in as 3rd choice for insurance.

The squad looks so empty without cesc and flamini… it really did last match.

cesc needs some cover.. because of his vision he needs time on the ball…. hard to find another flamster but… wewill find one nevertheless…. its impossible to find cesc… and I hope the boy doesnt get carried away with the absence of his good frnds. Wenger has to buy a character… a proper footballing character…

Gattuso wont be bad now isnt it?? :D

sigh… anyways half expected… lets see what unfolds this summer.

BTW heard frm reports vela wasntt half as good as the other game against madrid… so any type of hype up will only dent our chances.

Yes Vela was not that great last night and fouled too many times, so dont lets expect miracles from him for first three months, Traore is being groomed by Wenger to play on the wing and if he keeps up yesterdays performance he will be challenging Vela.
Song played very fell now hes completely match fit, hes an able substitute for Gilberto or to replace Flamini his heading ability would help out Gallas and Toure, and he can be holding whilst Cec goes forward. Traore and Clichy are a good combiantion hope we can see them against Sunderland

If Gattuso stays at Milan, Flamini will be on the substitues bench. I have some respect for Diarra, he put playing before money. Not many do. Wenger mad a mistake with Diarra, he should have played from January onwards if Flamini hadn’t signed a contract.

it really is all very disappointing. he is clearly very replaceable, that is not the problem it just underlies how precarious we are financially. if we can not afford to buy top quality players and also lose them after we make them to our competotors due to the wages, where does it leave us? if the stadium is going to be such a burden then maybe sugar daddy time has come or will we ever be able to close the gaps on our rivals. remember we are now already weaker and the season isn’t even over and no doubt the rest will all strengthen in the summer.

very demoralizing!!!

jamie, that’s easy to say with the benefit of hindsight, but Diarra needed time to settle into the team and Flamini was playing well. If you want to win games, you play your in-form players. Without the benefit of a crystal ball you have to accept that you win some you lose some.

I agree dan, demoralizing ..and destabilizing. We just have to tie down key players. But I believe AW will retool appropriately. Another offseason of speculating beckons..

Thanks for the memories Jens & Flamster.

Hello Gooners,

I just don’t agree with the crowds saying it’s hard to replace Flamini. He did great this season, and had a good understanding with Fabregas.

I just don’t think it’s hard to replace him with someone who has the same abilities or even better. The only difficulty will be finding someone quickly (meaning right now) to start training with the squad and “fit in” to be ready for the new season. We would be lucky if we find someone like Sagna who didn’t take too much time to fit in the team and the EPL.

I’m more concerned about the CB position, and who is going to get axed out of that line. I hope it’s Gallas, I really think it’s time for him to maybe play a half season with Arsenal and say his goodbyes by the end of next season. I think the whole idea of exchanging him with Cashley was to unsettle Chelski’s backline just as they tried to unsettle ours with taking Cashley. Gallas should be the Gilberto of next season.

Forget about Diarra, he’s a prima donna and a cancerous element in a team. Never was the answer. Hope we get Kranjcar, almost as skilled as Hleb on the ball, and a better passer and much better shooter. I still can’t believe Wenger pooh pooh’ed David Villa, IMO, along with replacements for Flam and Hleb and central defensive cover, his addition would be the final piece in a potential dynasty. Watching he and Cesc link up would be magic. Oh well.

for me no one who plays for us… shud end up like gilberto… thts a disgrace… and wenger should take the blame for tht.

pass, i disagree strongly with the hindsight comment. we all knew flam may not sign and letting diarra go meant we may have ended as we have ie with either. no crystal ball was needed at all, just good management, ie get flam to sign or play diarra or at the most loan out diarra and review the situation at the end of the season.

i think the whole thing was shockingly handled by the club, especially when we have limited funds already.

very poor indeed and sends out the entirely wrong message to the current players and potential future targets.

I`m not sure Diarra went purely for playing football if he`s on 60K a week at Pompey.

It`s amazing how cynical you become when players move on.

I agree with Dan that it`s demoralising when we can`t keep players - you don`t see Chelsea or Man U losing theirs but these are the rules we play by.

We have a versatile experinced defender who can cover the whole of the back four already in our ranks.

He`s called William Gallas - but he seems to picked exclusively at CB these days. I know he didn`t like moving about at Chelsea but he could cover Clichy & Sagna if necessary.

That would allow us to buy a proper big, aggressive CB to partner either Kolo or Gallas.

We really shouldn`t expect too much of Vela. He`ll probably be used more in the domestic Cups & from the bench next season.

Oh, & finally

Up The Arsenal Ladies …..

Sorry

Dan, yes the new stadium will make us financially weak for the next few years but not for ever.
The fact is we have to manage a £360 mil debt, and i would personally like us to go on the way we are rather than sell the club to a Russian criminal.

Dan per haps the Arsenal supporters trust will find out where all the money is. we pay 15 million in interest, we only owe 260 million on the stadium, this will be reduced to 200 when the property development is finshed, BUT WE HAVE 50 MILLION IN STADIUM EXPENSES. THIS SEEMS A LOT FOR STAFF WENGER, NOT FOR PLAYERS WAGES

veteran, i don’t know all the math of it, but was led to believe that the cpaital plus interest was very manageable and that next year we had the 100m net from the housing project. surely some good money must be available to strenghthen.bottom line is it is hard if not impossible to compete if we can not attract or keep the best players. fullstop.

clubs are spending more and more each year not less and some how we need to bridge that gap. a russiona criminal maybe not but someone else maybe.

we have euro 2008 so our players will be tired and more likely to get injured again. we will no doubt again not bother domestic cups and again will struggle to win either of the big two (understandably).

my hope is that we at least try for the FA cup next year, i think that was a big mistake this year.

agreed with paulie, people shouldn’t expect too much from vela, that is setting him and us up for a big disappointment.

Dan you’re entitled to your opinion, but as you say all Wenger knew was that Flamini ‘might not’ sign, he did not know for sure. If he had a crystal ball he would have known that Flamini was lying to him all along when he said he wanted to stay. Wenger made a mistake by trusting that Flamini’s purpose was to win a starting spot in the Arsenal midfield, when it was all about running down his contract and getting himself a free transfer to a better club than Birmingham.

I’m just glad the speculation is over and he is gone. He is not an Arsenal player any longer and I couldn’t care less what he does now.

Dan, maybe Stan Kronke isn’t looking so bad at this point? Russian and a criminal he’s not, but of course he is American which by definition is worse than a criminal to many in England. With the dollar worth less than a sheet of toilet paper at the moment would not be the smartest time for him but who knows, a few billion goes a long way no matter.

the fact that he knew he might not sign means he should have done something about it, seems obvious to me, you can not 6 months later and say damn he lied to me!!!!!! and look i am left with an aging gilberto and diarra or flamini. he or the club need to see the big picture and clearly they didn’t in this case.

as you said he has gone now, so sod him and hopefully a good replacement will bought asap.

i do hope however that the club deal with these issues better going forward.

dan, you are talking like we owned Diarra. Players are not merchandize to be done with as we please without regard to their own opinion or choice. How did you know that Diarra didn’t want to be loaned out? He obviously wanted to play NOW or sever his ties with the club. You can’t just say things without knowing the full facts or circumstances.

Most of the time, we here or see one side of the issue and not both sides, and half of what we read in newspapers is not even close to the truth.

I don’t know if anyone else caught Wenger’s pre-match interview on Sky. To paraphrase his remarks, he thought there wasn’t much wrong with the team going forward but he was disappointed by the failures in defence which had cost us points in games we were winning. I thought that was his broadest hint yet where he might be planning to strengthen the squad.

As to the match - Sky made Bendtner MOM, I’d have given it to Song. Add to that the startling performance of Traore in his new position and the contribution of Theo - we have so much to be optimistic about ! Don’t be too hard on Denilson. Wenger has given him a long contract because he knows what he is capable of. As supporters, particularly at Arsenal, we shouldn’t judge a young player on one performance.

obviously we don’t know all that was going on however we did “own” him as he had a contract that had no get out clause after 3 months i assume. again the club need to act in their best interests not neccessarily the individual players best interests. had wenger told flam sign or diarra is playing i would guess diarra wouldn’t have left if he had a first team place or flam would have signed.

all we did is let one player go and hope the other (who had a bad history on transfers already) signed, at the end a complete balls up. i am sure if you look back to jan blogs many people were saying why are you letting go of diarra if flam isn’t committed?

Like you finally said, he is no longer with us. Sod him off, let’s look forward and hopefully we learn as a club from our mistakes.

Let’s not forget that with every new generation, a little bit of honesty and ethics go out the door. Now you have players that lie and care about nothing else but money. The previous generations of Adams and the like can give a man’s word and it would be valid more than a stupid contract.

again i don’t know but i wouldn’t be surprised if wenger is very unhappy that he was had by flamini, up until last week he was speaking as if he may stay, when realistically if he wanted to stay he would have signed long ago. and the extra weekend!!!! what a joke he was in milan by sunday night, do you think arsene knows yet?

that i agree with you!!!

So because he signed a contract, he should be treated as a slave? If he wants to leave and he is going to disrupt the unity of the team, we just tell him to shut up, shackle him with iron to the goal post and make an example of him to every player who think they my have a right or opinion…right?

Signed a contract, we own you. Simple as that.

i don’t think denilson has shown in any performance this year that he is any where near ready being a firts team player, he was average again on sunday (as they all were mind you).

I forgot to add, our name is Arsenal not Chelsea. We don’t keep disgruntled players against their will. We are better than that, and them.

do me a favor, slave!!! we pay these guys a fortune to play bloody football all day everyday. sympathy they will never get from me. the point i was making a player under contract can be told what is going on, did we over a loan to pompey or diarra? either way if the club can not have some control via a contract why bother signing them in the 1st place?

Because that’s the way it was always the case with players dan. Thierry Henry signed a 4 year contract and he was the highest paid player, but when he wanted to leave the next year, he did and the club got the fee they agreed to.

You can’t hold a player to ransom or against their will because they signed a papaer. It’s not going to happen espcially at Arsenal, the bad publicity that can come from hold a player against his will, is far much worse than losing him.

It seems that signing a contract means nothing these days but I still feel Diarra was released too early.

If we let a player leave every time he gets the hump we`d have a pretty thin squad.

There doesn`t have to be a balance between the needs of the team & keeping individuals happy.

Real winners fight for their place & accept the rough with the smooth.

We don`t know what went on with Diarra in January but to let him go with Flam not signed (& Gilberto struggling) was poor.

Paulie, I agree to this point. Why didn’t any one sat with him and told him that he has a very big chance if Flamini moved since he didn’t really sign a contract. The thing is Diarra was so concerned about Euro 08 more than his long term future.

Too late now to blame either side Wenger(club) or Diarra, both did what’s they thought is best for themselves.

How many times, you take a decision thinking it’s the best for you then it turns out it was the worst or not as good as you expected.

The blame game never helps anyone, easy for me to sit here and think Wenger was stupid…but I don’t have all the facts to judge. You always have some but not all the facts to really have a good judgment.

G4E,

You are right in that we don`t know the full facts & we all make mistakes - we have to move on.

Flam wasn`t really a holding midfielder like a Makelele anyway & maybe AW is looking for a more defensive minded player to replace him.

If Gilberto can recover his form of a couple of years ago he could still be the answer & we also have Song but I think Wnger will buy.

He`s mentioned strengthening the defence & giving them a shield may be in his mind.

If he does that it would sacrifice our all action passing game slightly but allow Cesc to get forward even more.

it is funny how the web site hasn’t even announced it yet.

gunnerblog carries a pic of flamini in milan jersey.. so he is off for sure.

Altho i fully blame wenger for letting of his not so young players like edu, pires, wiltord, viera… this case is amazing….he is 24 flamini

Also to be noted he did a similar thing to marseille coach before coming to Arsenal. So if he is a player for himself , we could have done nothin more i blve.

Arsene… I donno how many years more it would take for us to be at par with milan or manu.

Even if signing players is like giving summer presents to the fans…. do it Arsene… start with kaka.. for once… F.U.C.K Ethics.

Dan, I understand your point with the judgement call on whether to play Diarra in Flam’s stead from January, but I am inclined to agree with Passenal. In January we were top of the league and as much as I believe Diarra would have been the better long-term option (if both players remained with AFC), Diarra would have taken some time to settle into the role and the priority was clearly to retain our winning form and Wenger rightly was thinking we could win the Premiership at that time. Of course, hindsight could well step into this little debate again, but a decision is made at a point in time and not weeks or months down the track.

My personal view was that Diarra should have been told “A contract is a contract and you are going nowhere.” As it turns out he may now have been happy if that had been the case, but another view is that kind of poor attitude was bound to rear its ugly head at another time and in another context anyway…

Oh, and let’s not forget we made (was it?) 400% profit on Diarra in about 4 months.

400 % profit???

could have been much more had he stayed.

Famini did very well and I wish him well at Milan, but I think we have Song who is as good as him, may be better(in air and has more skill, great decisive passer, eg. B’burn & ANC ).
We need only three players:
- play maker: Nasri or Affalay(PSV).
- striker: Hantelaar or Gomis(St. Etienne), the new Drogba.
- A CB Kaka Kaladze(AC Milan) or Richard.

And we will be ok regardless who is leaving.

we always have been ok… TH14 left we are still ok… so thts no concern…
What concerns me is how many more seasons will go by till we run riot on our rivals manu, instill the kind of fear tht the invincibles did…. and its painful coz… we all know we are more than capable of doing it… but still its not going as it should.

You know that I put down a name of strikers even if we’ve already got strikers. This is an area that has cost us the league.
PPL are only concentrating on Ade’s 30 goals he’s scored. They don’t even put it into prospective, as if you look at some of Ade misses in key games where he missed a lot of simple tapping in, which has often boosted our rivals confidence to hit us hard the next 5 or 10 minutes. These types of statistic helps you to know more about how good or bad Ade is. That’s why I believe we need a complete striker and not a fringe player who can score odd goals there and there.
