Ade, Kolo And Arsene’s Casting His Envious Eyes

Not Arsenal related but the world of Newspaper ’scoops’ continues to amaze me, with The Sun revealing that Michael Owen had had two years of ‘hurt’ this morning. The correct adjective to describe my feelings at this ‘news’ escapes me but to learn he had been injured was pretty shocking.

Onto Arsenal. Emmanuel Adebayor paid tribute to Robin van Persie and their partnership,

The understanding between us is magnificent. That is what is giving us strength at the moment. He likes the ball to his feet more than I do. He lises to get off the front line and he has the technical skills to do that. I am tall, I can climb high and I can go deep. I am more of a pivot for the team

I am not sure that Adebayor has any preference for where the ball comes to him or at what height because his control can be phenomenal at times; putting a ball in the air does not necessarily mean that he will head it for the longest legs in English football seem not to worry about bringing the ball under control where others struggle to with their head. Whilst the team have generally benefitted from the loss of attacking focus in one player following Henry’s departure, Adebayor has been the one whose skills are perhaps more appreciated by a wider audience this season. Scoring goals helps to gain attention but this masks his overall contribution to the team. And yet there are still chunks (albeit diminishing in number) of supporters who complain about him. Short of scoring a hattrick in every remaining game this season, I am not sure what he has to do to convince people of his worth, especially as his real worth to the side was plain for all to see in Henry’s absences last season, revitalising many a dire performance. Perhaps one of his detractors could tell us exactly what it is he does wrong?

Having told everyone to be calm and get on with, someone must have slipped Kolo a Mickey because now he is telling all and sundry that,

It’s our destiny to win EVERY game

So no getting overexcited there then. Ah, hold on. He did not actually say that either, some poetic licence being ascribed to his words by The Sun. What he actually said is,

Right now we just focus on the next game and forget about the past. Yes, we feel we’re destined to win because when you’re winning games you get that kind of feeling — you think you’re going to win

So the braggadocio was not there in the first place, merely an observation on the benefits of confidence upon which he elaborated

Things have been right for us because every time we need to come back and win, we do it and keep going. We have the mental strength this season to go and get a win and not a draw. That’s the big difference because last season was much more difficult.

And then he explains with chilling simplicity about how the title will be won

The team who does that the best will probably be crowned the champion

Can’t argue with that then.

As mentioned at the weekend, Arsene is eyeing Robert Green rather lasciviously and will part with £6m to get him but the ’shocker’ is that it is believed he will part with £20m for Veloso, the latest Portuguese Wunderkid who naturally enough is being lined up for a move to Old Trafford as well. Rumour Control has it that he will sign for Arsenal in January having a pre-sale agreement in place which curiously enough must be closely related to the one that he has reputedly signed with United.

Martin Samuel is obviously bored this week as once again he is on about Arsenal, this time new football owners and Wenger’s pivotal role in any takeover. I suspect that he wishes the England game would come around soon otherwise he may be classed as an Arsenal supporter, which in Fleet Street parlance is nothing short of Treason.

As Arsenal have moved into a Global culture with a new Chinese language website, so will I.

直到明天

  1. I’ll stop complaining about Adebayor when others stop complaining about Senderos. Both are acquired tastes for sure.

  2. My feeling is that these Gooners who moan about The Mighty Ade rarely goto games and probably even rarely watch a full 90 on tv. Only then could you miss the lung busting runs, unplayable hold up play and the occasional unreadable sublime footwork. His touch and finish are not always perfect but then Henry and Bergkamp would not be living legends if every player was the same. Second half of last season, his seemed to be the most sung name. Taken to our hearts, because of the size of his own!

  3. Try not complaining about either?? Just trying to sew a seed!

  4. It beats me why is the always on Arsenal’s case. During the pre-season, they were singing the “Arsenal-is-doomed” anthem the loudest. Then came that Palacio affair (were they had an “exclusive” to the story).

I am very optmistic (94% probability) that this Ade and RVP partnership is going to be lethal in a very naer future. They complement each other perfectly. Ade runs and create space and chances, RVP finnishes them off. If they manage to stay fit and play together for long enough for the season, they more than capable of producing some magic.

  5. sory it was supposed to read “It beats me why is the SUN is always on Arsenal’s …

  6. Anybody who knows anything about football, knows how good Ade is. Anyone else is just a muppet!

  7. I will like to comment very briefly,(as one of the detractors of Adebayor)on the reasons why I personally am not such a huge fan of our Togolese Striker.
I find that Ade makes the difficult things look easy but conversely, seriously cocks up the more simpler aspects of the beautiful game, certainly from a striking point of view.I attribute his insistence on curling the ball into the bottom corner of the goal, when a more straight forward strike will suffice, to time spent in the company of his ex-best mate Titi.
I,hand on heart cannot fault the man for his work-rate and dilligence for the team but For Pete’s sake Ade,YOU are NOT THIERRY HENRY,just be yourself and do things your own way.!!!

  8. I have never questioned how hard the lad works. It’s just that his finishing has always been suspect since he arrived. It has improved somewhat, but he still has problems getting shots on frame or forcing saves. Perfect example is the tail end of the Sunderland match, where he took a great ball from Walcott? He brought it down and turned the Sunderland defender perfectly and was on the keeper. Next thing we know he is trying to imitate Henry and bend it around the keeper and the ball doesn’t bend one lick and rolls slowly past the byline without troubling anyone. Once he stops trying to be Henry and finds his own game, he will be a great player. It is frustrating to watch.

  9. Oh, goonabosco beat me to the Henry thing. But it echo’s my thoughts perfectly. Be your own player ffs!

  10. Bubba and goonabosco – isn’t that the point? Ade is young and he is learning and probably trying things he has done successfully in training. It will not always come off in the game, but we’ve seen enough from his all round game to give him credit for what he brings to this team.

P.S. even Henry had to start somewhere and I bet he also tried out things that he’d previously seen his idol do.

  11. Till tomorrow Yogi’s Warrior!!

  12. I think that is the porblem, people dont realise that Ade is quite young and is still adapting to the English game.

My critisism of him, is that he can be frustrating to watch, and as someone mentioned before, he will do something World class and within 10 Seconds will finish the move with something Pub team Class. He is definately getting better though and the Pub Class bit is becoming less and less.

Agreed on his effort though, it is second to none. Oh and at least he loves being here and is not moaning to the press on a daily basis like Owen. I am not sure on how out of context his comments have been printed but he certainly isnt making any friends up North. What is it about teams like Newcastle and the Spuds, that they always seem to be in turmoil caused from within

  13. I think it’s a great partnership and is destined for better things, and with Eduardo in the mix I think we have three great strikers on our hands. Some gooners and Myles Palmer have suggested that Ade and RvP cannot work together and I think that’s crap. The thing about them is, there’s a real balance between the two of them. Their key strengths are Ade is strong, can head the ball, great upper body strength and control and also pace, while RvP is immensely technically gifted, a good finisher and has a fairly natural idea of where the goals are. The thing is though, Ade is also at times very technically gifted and can show great finishes. He’s not as consistent with this as RvP, but he still shows flourishes. Meanwhile RvP apart from being just technically gifted and something of an instinctive striker, also has some of Ade’s strengths at times, being quite physically strong and standing firm in the box and warding off challenges whilst also being deceptively faster than he is probably given credit for.

I think there’s an excellent complimentary balance between the two and they suit each other quite well and they’re still very young so let’s hope it develops into something great, with Eduardo and Bendtner (who you would have to say compare very closely with RvP and Ade respectively) also capable of stepping into the breach.

  14. As far as I recall, Henry was rather poor for quite some time. Give Ade some time, he’ll be a legend for us. I love the bloke as he works so hard and has already scored 6 in the EPL.

  15. I think you just need look at Adebayors goal against Spurs to glimpse what the boy is so obviously capable of.

  16. I agree wholeheartedly.

The comparisons to Henry are surely not the fault of Ade but those of the lazy critic. Bubba and Bosco that would be you. Stop thinking of Henry when watching him, it is unfair in the extreme!

Ade offers entirely different things to Henry, with higher work rate than the established Thierry and more physical strength to punch as well.

The thing is they are different and just because Ade also opens his body to place his shots, you feel the need to compare. A ton of players place their shots in similar way. Get over it! Frankly, stop being lazy!

  17. Arsenal are playing great and winning, i don’t feel there is anything to complain about!
As long as we’re playing good Adebayor and all of the other players will be getting better and better as it goes…
I agree with Passenal, you always try to do what your idol’s did. That’s natural!
Many years from now, a new “kid” will do what Adebayor once did…

  18. YW

Do we need Veloso? I doubt Arsene will go for Veloso. We already have his kinds at the club and at 20+? We’ll be better off if we spend that kind of money on City’s Richards to help fix our CB problem. The CB issue has been with us since Campbell began to lose it in the West Ham game and eventually left for Portsmouth.

Arsene, please spend the money on Richards rather.

  19. Ade is a good player holding the ball etc; its just that he needs to work on his finishing. Many fans who complain about Ade are merely concerned about his finishing which can be very frustrating at times. This season, he’s improved on that but still needs to work hard on his finshing.

If Ade becomes complete on his finishing, I can assure you he can deliver 25-30 goals a season. That’s all that some of us are praying for, his finishing.

  20. i agree with gunabosco. adebayor should learn to chip the ball over advancing keepers instead of trying to take it round them as has always been the unsuccessful case. true gooner

  21. I agree that Ade does not do the simple things well. So many times RVP crosses across the face of goal and Ade is nowhere to be found. That does not help his cause.

On the other hand, he is so intrumental to how we’re playing now in terms of constructing attacks from scratch. So much comes from fim

He misses many chances but many forget that Henry even at the height of his powers missed many chances and never had a super conversion rate. The point is that Henry in attack created so many chances for the team, and took many himself.

  22. Agreed Howard

I would rather spend 20m on Micah, not that I think we would pay that much.

I think it is only speculation anyway, and it is probably Sporting Lisbon trying to up the price that inevitably Man Ure will pay for him. If we were happy with spending that amount on one player, surely we would have bought Ribery in the Summer

  23. Adebayor is still relatively young and is no where near his peak yet. He is much further ahead than Theo and behind RvP who has smooth sublime skills that is easy on the eyes. Ade needs experience to finish well , that is my main complaint about him. He needs to have that ‘all the time world when on the ball quality’ that is found in all great strikers no matter how much time is given to them. Henry has it, Messi has it, Maradona certainly has it , Le Tissier has it, to name a few. That will come with confidence and experience and those one on one situations that we often see him kick out or straight to the keeper, these occassions will get rarer.

But he leads the line much better than any other strikers we have at this juncture and his work rate is phenomenal. He is one of the main reasons why defenders allow us to score late in the game. They would have been run ragged with 15 minutes to go allowing us time and space to score.

  24. Howard!!!!!

I like Micah too, but calm down!!! Countless random pleas are not going to inlfuence the Arsene’s transfer strategy.

Think it’s fair to say that at that price we won’t be signing either.

Gallas returning and the eventual re-introduction of Bert will shore us up!

Micah will have to drag himself into the last year of a contract to give us chance of getting his signature while Wenger’s in charge. If we get a surprise on this…nice one, if not i’ll rely on the boss to get it right 100 times out of 100

  25. Frankly, while I really like Adebayor, I cannot see him being first choice ahead of Bendtner, Dudu and Theo for long. In fact, I suspect that when he comes back from the Africa Cup of Nations his position will be gone. Bendtner is a smarter player and better finisher, Dudu is the finished article and will not make the easy look difficult and Theo is simply electrifying and will get better and better as the season wears on. Then there’s Vela, who is a great talent. I really like Ade, but he won’t win this battle. Also, his attitude in the last two games bothered me. But it is just two games so we’ll see.

  26. Veloso is 20m defender yes? I heard he plays defensive midfield for Sporting – why the hell do we need another one of those? even if he was 5m it does not sound like we need him. I’d rather spend that same money on Richards.

Ade is fantastic. I am one of his biggest fans. He and RVP compliment each other perfectly. they each have a different set of strengths and they have proved they work well together. But they dont actually play as a partnership, more a double pronged attack and the the defenders dont know who to mark because they are both lethal. they dont often pass to each other, more often they both receive passes from midfielders. Nothing like Bergkamp and Henry where Bergy was always passing to TH.
ade’s finishing is the only part of his game that is not 100% yet. I think it will improve.
Every since AW compared Ade to Henry he keeps trying that shot where he curls it round the keeper! over time Ade will just do his own thing, but he would always be in my team.

  27. Interestingly, RVP and Ade hasn’t scored in the same match yet this season (except for a pre-season game i think) and that, to me, means at least one of them will be wearing the scoring boots. It’ll be scary when they are both on form.

I don’t understand why people are still talking about ribery, never thought he was that good.

  28. You are kidding Gooni

He is having a great season with Bayern. but the point was that we dont spend that much on a single player so Veloso and Micah are not going to be wearing an Arsenal Shirt anytime soon

I do wonder though if Micah did get that clause in his contract regarding a lower fee from Arsenal. Does anyone know how long his current contract lasts for. I think if he comes Danny is right, it will either be in his last year or on a Bosman

  29. Did anyone else notice that Sanderos had a nightmare against Kenwyne Jones on Sunday? Jones dominated in the air and Sanderos had no answer to it and the few times he actually got his head to the ball, it ended up with opposition players.

It seems that most of the focus is on the mistakes that lead to goals, but Sanderos’ performance was quite worrying. While he has no pace he should easily be able to make up for it with pure physical dominance.

The rest of the team have upped their physical game, Sanderos needs to do that as well. However I do prefer Djourou, he has good recovery pace which allows the odd mistake or 2 to go unpunished.

  30. be fair, Kenwyne Jones is a giant and very strong with it. possibly only Samba at blackburn can ever hope to win a ball in the air. I thought given the difference in stature Senderos did OK against Jones – he certainly battled hard with him. He stayed goalside of Jones most of the time, but you are never going to win everything in the air against a player like him.
I prefer Djourou as well but Senderos has turned a corner so I wont get on his back.

changing the subject, what will Fabianski (or even Almunia) think if we sign Green? I dont see that happening.

  31. I agree with you on Djorou Unattractive Man, I do personally prefer him to Senderos

However I still think Senderos is improving game by game and it is a shame that people only comment on the odd mistake he makes in the game and not the fact that he scored one and nearly another. He also made some good clearances in that game and tackled well. Pace helps but Adams never had pace nor does John Terry but they improved in other areas to compensate and that is what big Phil is doing albeit a bit too slowly for some.

Either way he is here to stay and given Gallas’s continued absence, and the fact that Toure is off to ANC, I would not be surprised if he plays more than both of them this year.

  32. Chinese should probably be 明天再聊 or something like that.

  33. His name is SENDEROS not SANDEROS.

Sorry it was driving me fucking mad!

I agree with most of what’s been said here. Wenger isn’t going to spend £20 million on anybody in our lifetimes, we can only dream of getting Richards on a free or on the cheap if he has little time left on his contract, Velosos is a really, really bad rumour, Ade is great and just needs to work on his finishing a little more and he and RvP will get better and better as a partnership with more and more games together. Phew.

  34. Patthegooner

Arsene should buy Richards and all our CB problems will be solved for over 10 years.

  35. Ade + RvP aren’t a partnership in the traditional sense. They aren’t an Henry and Bergkamp or a Yorke and Cole. There isn’t a telepathic understanding between them.

They both operate in slightly different areas of the pitch and both offer an outlet and an option in their own way.

It works. It helps that the rest of the team are so creative.

Howard, Richards reminds me of a young Kolo Toure. a powerful athlete with a great leap but relies on his pace to bail him out because his position sense isn’t good enough.

With Gallas, Toure, Sagna and Eboue in the squad, can anyone tell me why we would want/needs Richards?

P.S If anyone posts LOL OMG R1CH4RDZ IZ G0NNR B WE!1 GUD INN1T!!!!!11 then have a word with yourself. He’s a promising talent but he’s not going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread as some pundits would have you believe.

  36. Arsene may well like Veloso, as he’s a multi-functional footballer who can play at left back, centre half and in midfield too.

However, unless he’s substantially better than what we already have at the club in terms of cover for those positions, then I really can’t see Arsene buying him.

Moreover, Arsene is simply not going to spend £20M on a defender, no matter how highly he rates the defender in question…he simply won’t do it.

I personally would love to see a commanding, ball playing, 6ft plus centre half with pace arrive at the club, but Arsene is likely to be loyal to the players we already have for that position…Toure, Gallas, Senderos, Djourou, Gilberto and Song.

The reasons why we are unlikely to buy Veloso are exactly the same reasons why we are unlikely to buy Richards, so I suggest Arsenal fans stop dreaming about it forthwith!

  37. I dont see how FIFA got to a figure of £2.2m that we have to pay for merida. he might not even make it yet. We paid less than that for players who WERE under contract with their clubs. Nortdveit is an example. its a lot of money for a 15 year old I think. I think they are just getting revenge for the Fabregas situation. so they are levelling it up a bit.

  38. G10

Really gotta agree with all said! This is yet another case of a tenuous link or rehased tabloid tosh being grabbed upon by the usual suspects, who then dribble all over the place imploring Wenger to sign so and so!

What’s worse is we are no where near a transfer window. There is surely more to football than salivating over names on paper.

Let’s talk about what we’ve got. Instead of the press driven trash. They say a name and a few clowns jump up and down, saying “sign him” “sign him”

  39. Gazzap

I also think the amount being demanded for Merida is too much. I’ll place the matter squarely on the administration not Arsene. They should’ve gone on to negotiate for agreed sum, same as Cesc which we ended up paying 0.5 million for him.

Right now Arsene has no choice other than pay up or give him up.

  40. Bit harsh that Danny,

I think the majority of people realise that it is all Tabloid Trash,

In one case I think Sporting are trying to up the value of a Player they know is leaving.

In the other they have completely taken a comment out of Context. Micah said he was an Arsenal Fan and it went from there

However when you get linked with a player, what is wrong with Fans debating whether or not they would make a valued contirbution and whether they would improve things or if indeed we need them in the first place.

Hey you even contributed by saying if he came then it would be in his last year of contract and that if it happened then nice.

  41. I think it is Merida that was Sued by Barca

But as he probably does not have 2.2m in his Piggy bank, Arsenal will pick up the bill

  42. Djourou has all the ingredients to be twice the player Richards will ever be.

I don’t say that lightly because Richards is also an outstanding prospect. The games I have seen him play recently, v Germany, v us, he has faded noticeably. There needs to be a bit more evidence before he becomes a £20m player. At the moment he wouldn’t offer us what we haven’t got already.

All Djourou needs is a bit more battle hardness & awareness, which hopefully he will be getting at Brum. I am convinced he will be the successor to the Simpson, O’Leary & Adams line of outstanding CBs, all coming through the ranks.

  43. We’ll appeal the Merida decision and that fine will be reduced.

“I personally would love to see a commanding, ball playing, 6ft plus centre half with pace arrive at the club, but Arsene is likely to be loyal to the players we already have for that position…Toure, Gallas, Senderos, Djourou, Gilberto and Song.”

I’m with you all the way there Magneto.

Wenger’s determined to do things his way. He won’t open the cheque book unless he absolutely has to and he wouldn’t want to betray the commitment to this club has to youth.

If we win the league this season and we lose a few games along the way, this will be Wenger’s greatest triumph, surpassing The Invincibles.

Our entire first team squad cost £70m to assemble. When you take into account how Spurs spent a net amount of £40m over the summer, it really puts things into context.

In a time where you think £££ rules, Wenger’s on a mission to demonstrate that you can build a great team without a sugar daddy and without spending big money.

  44. LB cant beleive that you think by the time Ade comes back from the ANC Theo would have so much as to keep him out of the team that is jus so close to fantasy, yes Theo had a good game on sunday but he is some way back from threatening Ade’s position.Dudu gives us another dimension in attack because he can hold the ball when passed to feet and he can run on to passes beyond the defence but he can bring a high ball down like Ade.Ade has his flaws in that he misses some easy chances but if you dont see what he brings to the team you jus completely blinding yourself, the reason we no longer one dimensional is because defenders are now on the look out jus incase a high ball is sent to Ade where as before they could sit and wait for us to pass a through ball…one thing for sure is Ade is pivotal to most of ur attacks even when the ball isnt passed to him but if he was a better finisher than he is at the moment its unimaginable to think how many goals he would have if he took most of those easier chances i dont see why he couldnt average upto a goal a game…although i have to admit when the guy wants to be frustrating he can be.ohhh he can be

  45. Senderos was bullied by Kenwyne like he is always bullied by Drogba, now tell me this if our CB is bullied by the big strikers and absolutely has no speed to defend against the quicker of the strikers around then when do we count on him to do a job????
When he stepped in for Sol and kept him out of the first team he didnt have all these problems so we know he has it in his locker so its a matter of us being patient with him, until when???we lose a game??we have been lucky in that he hasnt been punished for most of his mistakes, sunday if he managed not to get bullied he always manged to head the ball to the opposition enabling them to attack.he hasnt impressed me much at all he has improved a bit from earlier in the season but i feel most of the time the rest of the defense has had to be worried about whether he is going to handle his bit or do they need to help him out again…Cant wait for Djourou to come back,i have been thinkin that maybe without Wenger foreseeing Gallas’ injury he gave Djourou some match time because he sees him as the likely candidate to partner Gallas in Kolo’s absence because i repeat again Senderos has not impressed me at all cosidering we all know what he is capable of.

  46. Casicky

I agree with you but its a taboo subject here. They want his numerous mistakes to end up in defeat for us before they concur. Their mantra is ‘he’s still young at 22/23′. He’s also often compared with Adams. That Adams also was full of mistakes before however, they forget that Adams was already a star at his age. Besides, he’s had chances to correct his mistakes. For me, it’s always scary to see him playing as there is always a mistake with him. That’s the more reason I’ve been a favourite of Richards. We’ve been very lucky up to now but its a taboo subject on this blog.

  47. wenger loaned Djourou so he could have good reason to rank him above Senderos in the pecking order. Otherwise it would not look good to have a younger less experienced player picked ahead of Senderos. so now he will come back and wenger can say to PS that JD has played really well for Brum and played lots of games. I dont think wenger expected Gallas to be injured for so long, meaning that Senderos is getting almost as many games as JD.
but wenger should be strong enough to say that JD is playing and Senderos must watch from the stands if that’s what he beleives is best for the team.
In my view JD is a better player and most people on here would agree.
I still dont know why we loaned him out. last season he played a lot of games so was already relatively experienced. I really dont think he will come back a better player for being at Birmingham. he might be a bit better through being older, but he would have seen that same improvement with us and he would have played all these games while Gallas is out.
We need to hope that Gallas does not get injured again now. if PS has another long run before JD returns he could cost us an important game.
If Brum want a defender, we should loan them PS!

  48. Harsh but true Pat. You know it’s true because you have had your fingers burnt yourself. People are going on that he is must have, like a couple of It-girls looking at a Prada handbag! Self respecting fans, ought get a grip! Wenger delivers, stop pleading for United style signings! It’s brainless, but yes I like the kid! Hopefully Kyle Bartley becomes the next Micah! Pat, it’s not even a story. Now unknown Kolo, that’s a story!

  49. Its not just kyle either Danny

we have the Norwegian kid coming through too. In some ways Howard is right, but its not taboo on here, its just that the only alternative to Senderos at the moment is Song and I know which I would prefer.

I know Senderos makes the odd clanger but he is getting better and whilst there is no one else to play in that position I will keep behind him.

  50. I doubt Arsene will be paying 20m for anyone, least of all a young defender.

According to the Beeb, Kaka has said in a magazine interview that if he ever leaves AC Milan, we’d be a club he’d fancy playing for. Which is a nice compliment at least.

I’m not sure Arsene would cough up 20m even for him though. :)

Re Ade… I like him. But maybe what gets people irked is the number of easy chances he misses. That kind of thing can get on your nerves if you’re that way inclined.

Actually he’s always had a pretty good goals to games ratio anyway, even with that. Plus all his other attributes that people have mentioned.

Anyway, with all players, you tend to see what you expect to see. Once you’ve got it in your head someone’s bad, you latch on to all the signs of bad and tune out the good. And vice versa if you’ve decided someone’s a star.

  51. I’m not defending Senderos Pat, it’s just I trust we have the solutions within and in general there seems to be growing discontent that Wenger does not spend 30 million on a player. When the fact, he does not have to, is widely not appreciated by these same fans. The boss’s ingenuity will mean our next boss will have the choice if needs to sign 30 million pound players. That’s what is happening here, too many Gooners have their eyes closed. Agree with Gazzap on JD!

  52. Pathegooner, I thought Song was rubbish but after the game against newcastle I’m reconsidering. I thought we were in for it when I saw Sanderos AND Song at CB but Song did really well. Shows what I know!

I still wouldn’t want to see him start a PL game tho. It’ll be good for the nerves when Gallas is back.

  53. The grass is always greener…

CB’s/cover already at Arsenal – Kolo, Gallas, Djourou, Senderos, Song, Gilberto, Sagna, Connolly, Nordveit, Hoyte G. Why would Arsene spend £20m for someone to hold back their development?

If Richards was not English we would not even be discussing this.

  54. Ade is a great player

  55. I thought Djourou asked AW to loan him out so he could get some games in as a defensive midfielder. something Steve Bruce agreed to???
Hasn’t he played in that position already for B’ham this season??
Please get off Senderos’ back, he needs to play to get better and that’s what he’s getting. We have NOT LOST OR DROPPED POINTS because of him so I don’t see why there’s so much hateration!
His teamates don’t seem to mind, so why do we SPECTATORS complain so much?

  56. [...] Old Boy Thierry Henry’s saying we’ve got a chance to do the double through the Prem and Champions League. Nice of him to say that but you know he just formed that opinion recently, otherwise why on earth would he leave the club?
